I truly made this acc so I can ramble about my favs so I’ll start with random headcanons for my girlfriend Johnny cage <3
-> I believe he gets REALLY pissed when he gets called a “nepobaby” or something along those lines by the media because 1) his family wasn’t famous before him and 2) he is really prideful of the work he has put to get to where he is.
-> daddy issues..mommy issues…everything issues (it was obvious 😭) I do believe while he has complica feelings about it he does get along with his mom, keeps it very superficial tho. He definitely hates his brother and dad.
-> his parents divorced while he was a teen and it was MESSY part of the reason why his divorce with Cris crushed him so much was because he felt just like his dad
-> his family (including extended family) always had a very obvious preference for his brother, part of it is because growing up his brother was the more “charismatic” one and also he was doing excellent at school while Johnny struggling in most of his classes and he was an awkward kid.
-> also his family took his brother more seriously because he pursue “serious” careers while Johnny always wanted to be an actor.
-> part of me believes johnny was a child actor and that was probably the worst period of his life, he got taken advantage of not only by older directors and producers but also his own family.
-> all of the money he did as a child actor was never used on him, not even for important things, most of it went to payments for all the debts they had (courtesy of his dad) and the left over was focused on payment for his brother’s college since he was studying for becoming a lawyer (courtesy of his mother since “Jimmy is becoming a lawyer to help the law he’s priority”)
-> to elaborate more on his and his mom’s relationship: I do believe she later own realized her own mistakes although since she’s stubborn as hell she never properly apologized and also realized wayy to late so the damage is already very done. He still loves her dearly because she did showed more care to him than his dad, it’s just too complicated so he rather keep her at arms length.
-> since going through the burden of child acting, he have always advocated for them, when he has young co-stars he always treats them with respect and it’s even super friendly with them joking around and even offering them junk food or desserts. A popular backstage story about him is the time he work with a crew of teen actors and after a hard day of filming he took them to an arcade and paid for absolutely everything, till this day even after the kids grew up they still recall that story with fondness.
-> another popular story of his was when he stood up for a kid who was being treated unfairly by the studio of one of his films, stoping the whole production until the issue got solved and the kid was ok.
-> I just think Johnny likes kids man, he’s like the weird but cool uncle, he is lowkey afraid of being a father for the fear he will end up like his
-> in a funnier note, in his universe he was the one who said the legendary Tom hardy quote: “I’m an actor, of course i had gay sex”
-> bisexual Johnny 100% he’s not even officially out but everyone and their mother knows
-> he was in the “my wife and I saw you from across the bar” situation with a popular Hollywood couple but he won’t say who..
-> he met Cris when he was still a unknown actor, she was the producer’s assistant in the short film he was in, she was the first person who not only saw through his bs but also actually believed he was going to be a big actor one day, definitely one of his closest friends before dating. Unfortunately we all know how that ended..
-> I do believe some day long after their divorce Johnny does reach out and apologizes, they definitely never go back to date since she moved on and is genuinely happier with her new partner, but they slowly rebuild their friendship, at the end they were friends first and foremost.
-> Cris and him definitely gossip a lot after rebuilding their friendship, she constantly pokes fun at him once she figures who is his crush 👀.
-> he definitely has a big crush on kenshi, it’s almost ridiculous, sadly he is severely emotionally repressed (just like his man) and thinks kenshi deserves someone better than him he also still believes kenshi blindness it’s his fault for being too weak oops
That’s all for now!!

For our wedding anniversary later this year we decided to go back to Alton Towers in Staffordshire, England. We have been to the park together I think three times previously and before I met my husband I went several times as a kid/young teenager. It was definitely easier for me to get there as I was in Northern England Vs my husband who grew up in North East Scotland. That's basically a couple of hours drive compared to probably seven or eight, which I know isn't much to people in e.g. the USA but driving for seven hours between Scotland and England is just a pain, the lack of motorway in northern Scotland being one reason.
Nemesis is probably the first properly "big" rollercoaster I experienced when I was, I think, around ten years old. It hadn't been open very many years at that point so I think we had to stay in the hotel to get early morning access just to ride this rollercoaster, otherwise it was a 2-3+ hour queue (I think in the days before fast passes reached our shores), which any theme park enthusiast knows absolutely sucks.
I have alluded before to the fact that my parents were big fans of having, what I'm sure they thought were humorous, wee digs at me whenever I was hesitating over anything. Being a whole child who had no experience of white-knuckled thrill rides beyond a runaway mine train at this point, of course I was a bit scared! But the niggles got to me and it actually took watching my sister go around a couple of times for me to finally decide to go on myself. In the end I think I went round about 5-6 times because I absolutely loved it. Despite conquering my fear that day even in my 30s I'll have a wobble when confronted with a new rollercoaster or otherwise terrifying looking ride, because I have my mum's voice deep in my brain saying it "looks scary" and "are we sure it's safe?"
Given it was 30 years old this year, Alton Towers decided to completely re-track Nemesis and update the theme with more modern effects. I'm glad because I have so many good memories of this rollercoaster and I guess they couldn't bring themselves to scrap such an iconic part of theme park history. I know it will essentially be the same on-ride experience but I'm looking forward to seeing if the re-track makes any difference. I've been on Nemesis so many times now I don't even scream anymore, but I have fun!
By the way, my sister is now terrified of rollercoasters and I've been on way more frightening ones than Nemesis. Funny how that works! But even though Nemesis may not be the scariest or even the most thrilling, it will forever remain one of my favourites. Other rollercoasters and/or scary rides I've enjoyed:
The Smiler (also at Alton Towers)
X-2 (Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, CA)
Tatsu (also at Magic Mountain)
California Screamin' (now the Incredicoaster - Disney California Adventure, Anaheim, CA)
The Incredible Hulk (Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, Orlando, FL)
Tower of Terror (Hollywood Studios, Orlando, FL - basically THE only drop tower ride I'll ever go on!)
Raptor (Gardaland, Lake Garda, Italy)
Shambhala (PortAdventura, Salou, Catalonia, Spain)
Red Force (Ferrari Land - also part of PortAdventura)
I need to go back to the USA to do more rollercoasters there (they tend to be bigger/faster/longer over there) and I definitely need to visit a couple of the other bigger European theme parks, there's a rollercoaster in Belgium (Ride to Happiness) I am DESPERATE to go on!

Jukebox The Ghost!
This Funky Little Band has Lived in My Mind Rent Free for the better part of seven months and now you all have to hear about it. Keep reading below the cut to justify the afternoon I spent writing all this up.
Formed in 2006, Three friends at George Washington University form a Band:
Ben Thornewill (Piano/synth/vocals)
Jesse Kristin (drums/vocals)
Tommy Siegel (guitar/bass/vocals)
Do they seriously all do vocals?
Yes, and it is glorious
To Date: Six studio albums, one live album, over 1,000 performances including Lollapalooza, Conan, and Letterman
Speaking of those Six Studio Albums, let's take a look:
Let Live and Let Ghosts
Tumblr media
The Most 2006 Record You Will Ever Listen To
Achingly Sincere Tracks About Love and Companionship paired with dark-humor apocalyptic numbers inspired in large part by the Bush administration and then-popular End-of-Days theorizing.
My Favorites: Good Day, Hold it In, Where Are All The Scientists Now
Everything Under the Sun
Tumblr media
Just Plain Old Fun
A refined take on the formula set by Let Live and Let Ghosts, with the majority of songs running the gamut between peppy (or, in Siegel’s words, caffeinated) and sweet, with an apocalypse suite containing one of the Band’s all-time best numbers)
My Favorites: Empire, Summer Sun, Mistletoe, The Sun (Interlude), The Stars
Tumblr media
A Personal Favorite
Apocalyptic Songs Traded for a mix of topics ranging from anxiety and trueness to oneself to aging and mortality, with even the love songs (mostly) erring on the more serious sides of things. The album is Bittersweet, if more Sweet than Bitter.
My Favorites: Ghosts in Empty Houses, Man in the Moon, Say When, Adulthood, Somebody, Everybody Knows, At Last
Tumblr media
Jukebox the Ghost Does Heartbreak
Seriously, almost every single one of these tracks has to do with romance and most of them aren’t the happiest about it
Arguably One of their more Boring/mainstream albums, and I can definitely see why some people aren’t the biggest fan, but it's just so much fun.
My Favorites: Hollywood, Made for Ending, Sound of a Broken Heart, Girl, Postcard, The Great Unknown
Tumblr media
Jukebox the Ghost Gets Weird (and does a Little Queen in the process)
This album is All Over The Place, and while it doesn’t always work for me, it’s some of JtG’s best work when it does. This album has some of the band’s most well-known songs, and Alt-Indie contrarian though I am, even I have to admit that they’re pretty Fantastic.
My Favorites: Fred Astaire, Everybody’s Lonely, Diane, Simple as 1-2-3
Tumblr media
The Essential JtG Album
The Apocalypse is back and better than ever! Apropos of Nothing, this album was released earlier last year (but is surprisingly Covid-free!).
Some of the Band’s best instrumentation and vocals to date; this album is full to bursting with classics.
My Favorites: Ramona, Million Dollar Bills, The Apocalypse Suite (The Machine, Everybody Panic, Raise a Glass, How the World Began), Cheers

Where Is The Next DreamWorks Movie?
Looking at all the official American slates for Universal Pictures, it would appear that DreamWorks Animation is released only one picture this calendar year, and that would happened to be a seemingly-untitled TROLLS sequel. The third overall, of course.
What is not known is that DreamWorks actually has a picture coming out this year, before TROLLS 3 debuts in the autumn. An original picture, at that. Apparently, the plan behind closed doors is to release one original movie and one sequel every calendar year. So far, we do know that DreamWorks intends to release KUNG FU PANDA 4 in the late winter of 2024, but nothing else is on their schedule besides that film and TROLLS 3. Not even a placeholder, you know, the sort of "Untitled DreamWorks"... The other animation studio that operates under Universal, the ever reliable hit-makers Illumination Entertainment, have MIGRATION set in stone for 12/22/2023 and DESPICABLE ME 4 inked for 7/3/2024. Nothing beyond that, though they do have various pictures in development. There's also, curiously, an untitled animated feature release from Universal set for 2/8/2024... Is this a DreamWorks movie? Likely not, if KUNG FU PANDA 4 is opening in March of that year. Two that close to each other? I don't think that's happening. Illumination? Maybe. A February release would be new for them... It could also be... Since Universal now owns the rights to this particular movie franchise... The next LEGO movie... After all, THE LEGO MOVIE and THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE opened in February to much success, THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART - sadly - not so much. Maybe KUNG FU PANDA 4 takes that February slot and abandons March, with the 2nd DWA title that year opening in the fall.
Anyways, I'll get on with it... There's stuff out there that confirms this... DreamWorks' next movie is a picture about sea monsters, it's titled MEET THE GILLMANS. It's on a Universal slate from Switzerland that pegs it at 6/30/2023, it's also been mentioned in various European marketing and promo stuff. There's concept art and images floating around the webs, too. The movie exists, yet it doesn't... Now, it's one thing to start a marketing campaign a mere four to five months before release. After all, Universal/DreamWorks did just that with THE BAD GUYS this past year and that film - budgeted at roughly $80m - did rather fine for itself. *But*, we knew the film *existed* as far back as 2018, when DreamWorks optioned the book series for a feature adaptation... There has been no formal announcement whatsoever with MEET THE GILLMANS. Only through tiny out-of-the-way scoop sites that I've never heard of and the title appearing on staffers' LinkedIn profiles and resumes. One of the hosts of the podcast Fine Tooning, without naming the movie, says it's coming out prior to TROLLS 3... Which, by the way, is actually called TROLLS BAND TOGETHER. Universal has yet to disclose that to the American public. The Swiss slate seems to indicate that TROLLS BAND TOGETHER, currently scheduled to release 11/17/2023, will open in mid-October instead. Which seems smart, because the current date puts it five days before Disney Animation's celebratory centennial musical fantasy WISH, which is sure to be the inverse of STRANGE WORLD and will make a good amount of money.
Curiously, 6/30/2023 puts MEET THE GILLMANS very close to... Pixar's ELEMENTAL, Sony's ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, and Disney's live-action/VFX-heavy LITTLE MERMAID remake... Until addition to a ton of blockbuster tentpoles.
A little while back, the original plan was to have an original picture open 3/24/2023. This was back when PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH carried a 9/23/2022 release date, and THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE was set for Christmas 2022. MARIO was pushed to 4/7/2023 to coincide with the opening of Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Hollywood. So that put PUSS in the Christmastime frame, and also made MIGRATION - ahem - migrate to Christmas 2023. GILLMANS has, rather covertly, taken MIGRATION's original intended summer slot. Or so it seems...
But why not mid-March for MARIO? Or better yet, March 10th? You know, MAR10? It's not like March is really stuffed... Like, does a SHAZAM! sequel that's kinda meaningless now in the grand scheme of things and a DUNGEONS & DRAGONS movie pose any kind of threat to the freakin' Super Mario Bros.? I think what could've worked well was having MARIO make March its domain, while MEET THE GILLMANS could open in late April - much like how THE BAD GUYS did - and get the jump on the family competition from LITTLE MERMAID, ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, and ELEMENTAL.
I don't believe in family films and animated films "cannibalizing" each other at the box office, but options are *slim* when it comes to affordability. If the average American family hit the flicks four times a calendar year back in 2014, think of how many times they can manage now, especially in the post-outbreak times we're living in. Ya know? MEET THE GILLMANS presumably cost around the same amount of money the previous string of DWA titles did (PUSS cost $90m, BAD GUYS about $80m, BOSS BABY around $82m), so not too too much is riding on it. If anything, I'm more worried about the Pixar film making back its presumably astronomical budget than this movie, but it'd suck to see another DreamWorks movie tank. Maybe there's no need to worry and they know how they're going to ride this all out...
That being said, it would be nice to know about the movie in question since it's less than half a year away at this point.

Disney Sued By Film Finance Partner For Using ‘Hollywood Accounting’ – Deadline
Hey, everybody should read the absolute vitriol dripping from these comments, towards mainly, again, DISNEY. Check this one out:
Anonymous
on August 15, 2023 3:21 pm
Why so reticent to criticize Disney?? They’ve been the biggest film studio in box office gross for a decade now, they do have a lot more to answer for than others.
It seems like every time somebody decides to criticize a legacy studio vs Amazon or Netflix, everyone just does their “what about streamers” routine. Streamers have their problems, but legacy studios have been screwing creatives for a century now.
It’s interesting that the propaganda machine that protects studios like Disney, Universal, Paramount and to a lesser extent WB is still working well with some people even in the middle of a strike.
Nobody has contributed more to franchise fatigue, media consolidation and the destruction of mid budget adult dramas aka cinema, like Disney. Nobody has ruined cinema going more with their frontloaded event-making of movies that celebrates OW as the be all end all discussion of “success” for movies these days like Disney. And nobody has more a too big to fail mentally like Disney.
It’s the reason people stopped going to the theaters. You have less consumer choice, at ever increasing costs, and more infantile, lowest common denominator entertainment that is only praised as successful because they screen them every 15 minutes and spend 100 million on marketing when that could’ve been spent making 2-3 decent adult-geared movies.
Barbie cost more to market than the entire production negative. It had over 30 screenings on a “preview day” thursday, every 10 minutes.
Some defend this system as demand driving more screenings but there is clearly an aspect of “you give me the screens, I’ll give you the marketing spend”.
Too-big-too-fail releases distort the marketplace and clearly aren’t even guaranteeing success as we’ve seen this summer.
These fuckers are seriously trying to destroy Disney because of it's strong Children's programs and box office competition. I guarantee that's why. This is a part of the attacks against public education and our economy. Look up TSG Entertainment and their list of investments. A large majority of the films they backed are foreign, mainly coming from the UK. They've also worked with Disney competitors a lot.
"...Today, like many land-grant universities, WVU sits at the convergence of several cultural and economic tectonic shifts that are working in tandem to radically transform education. Foremost among these shifts is the changing economic climate of higher ed. WVU, like many higher-education institutions, has been plagued by gross financial mismanagement by administrators and consultants who have funneled money into massive administrative bloat and capital projects at the expense of faculty hires and support for faculty and graduate students. The university is currently facing a $45 million budget gap, and is seemingly uninterested in shrinking administrator salaries, creating artificial conditions for austerity.
This shift to massive administrative salary costs and, relatedly, software and tech expenditures, came about as federal funding of higher education massively slowed, particularly after George W. Bush’s cuts in 2007–08. Fifty years of cuts to higher education have accounted for losses of between 30 to 50 percent of funding for some land-grant schools. Facing state austerity and a culture war on public goods, especially public education, state funding for higher education continues to decline, forcing public universities to rely more on private donors, who impart new controls on higher education professionals.
Meanwhile, higher education has become a major political target for the right. One only needs to look at the takeover of the New College of Florida (to name but one example of the GOP’s “war on woke”) to see how academic expertise has come under fire as a political wedge issue in this campaign season—while the GOP’s privatization program, perfected under Reagan, funnels public money into both tax cuts for the wealthy and various grifts. The book bans, censorship, purges of area studies programs, and targeting of academics at public institutions (particularly in the South) are all calculated to decrease the public’s confidence in public education so that it can be dismantled and replaced with private corporations, which lack regulation and oversight..."

Legality of the SAG-AFTRA, WGA Strike
By Andrew Bruner, University of Kentucky Class of 2024
July 24, 2023
Tumblr media
July 14, 2023, is a monumental date for the movie-making world of Hollywood. On this day, the SAG-AFTRA, or Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, went on strike. They join the WGA (Writers Guild of America) against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) amid an ongoing labor dispute. Today represents the first time since 1960 [1] that both the SAG-AFTRA and WGA worker unions have been on strike against the studios, halting all film and television production across the country for an extended period. Shows like HBO's House of the Dragon remain one of few currently in production due to their contract under the British Union Equity rather than SAG-AFTRA [2]. This article will delve deep into the origins of union strikes, what they mean for Hollywood, and the legal aspects enabling such a situation to occur.
For those who don't know, a labor union is defined by the Department of Labor as a group of employees who join to advance common interests such as wages, benefits, schedules, etc. [3] The purpose of joining together is that it gives workers a stronger voice and bargaining power in negotiations with employers. The world of Hollywood works the same as unions seen for workers at a local Kroger. For every celebrity actor and writer apart of the unions are far more working-class actors and writers struggling to live paycheck by paycheck. The current strike is primarily to support the lives of these unknown names, not the typical big Hollywood star. Even if writers and actors want to pursue projects, their membership in these labor unions typically prevents them from partaking until the strike ends. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA will work to pursue a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the AMPTP. A CBA is a legally enforceable contract between an employer and employees that results from extensive negotiations between a labor union and an employer. Unions often take drastic measures like strikes when talks on a new CBA fail. The unions' strike pressures AMPTP to budge in negotiations on a new CBA. The legality of a CBA makes the side that ultimately gives in to demands critical. Once both sides agree on a new CBA, all mandatory sections included are legally enforceable for the other party to meet. If the AMPTP gives in, the law forces them to comply with all compulsory agreed-upon areas. The legal binding of a CBA is where one sees the pushback from their side: Whatever both parties agree to, both must uphold.
In recent years, one large talking point surrounding negotiations has been the meteoric rise of streaming services. These services dramatically impact the compensation received by SAG-AFTRA members for their work. For shows that release instantly on a streaming service, entertainment companies have moved away from compensating their actors through residuals [4]. Residuals are a royalty awarded to actors on a show when the company sells it into syndication, allowing other networks to play re-runs on their channels. The decrease in these residuals harshly impacts the constant flow of revenue actors were used to seeing. The Guild also looks to fight against the rise in the use of Artificial Intelligence by entertainment companies. There have been many instances where studios use Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) to compose images of famous stars who are not there to film. AI has immense ramifications regarding the unauthorized use of actors' likenesses in media. Even so far back as 1989, actor Crispin Glover sued the producers of Back to the Future: Part II for using a face mold on another actor to recreate his image without consent. Producers did so after he declined to participate in the blockbuster sequel [5]. AI technology now allows studios to actively re-create the persona of big celebrity stars without paying them. In Zacchini v. Scripps-Howard Broadcasting Co., 433 U.S. 562 (1977) [6], the Supreme Court affirmed an entertainer's right to publicity when an Ohio TV station broadcasted Zacchini's cannonball act. The Court argued that broadcasting such a performance hinders the economic value of seeing said performance live. Using actors' likenesses in films they don't actually appear in depreciates the value of their faces and work when they receive no publicity for involvement.
These are just some of the reasons America's writers and actors are currently on strike. History shows they have every legal right to do so. They and executives will continue to play hardball until one gives in to demands and both can agree upon a new CBA. The implications of such are drastic and go beyond the production of the average viewer's entertainment. The changing times and rampant new technology implicate many legal questions for one to answer. How this strike plays out is currently unknown, but its outcome will be interesting to watch.

Amsterdam And Lyle Lyle Struggle Letting Smile Repeat
NEW YORK (AP) — David O. Russell’s star-studded 1930s mystery “Amsterdam” flopped and the children’s book adaptation “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” debuted softly, allowing the horror thriller “Smile” to repeat atop the box office in U.S. and Canada theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday. Neither new release caught fire with moviegoers but the disappointment was most acute for “Amsterdam,” a poorly reviewed $80 million screwball romp starring Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington. The 20th Century Studios production, co-funded by New Regency and released by the Walt Disney Co., opened with just $6.5 million — a stinging rebuke for the decorated filmmaker of “Silver Linings Playbook” whose splashy ensemble also includes Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy and Taylor Swift. Sony Pictures’ “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile,” a musical based on Bernard Waber’s children’s book featuring Shawn Mendes as the voice of a computer-generated reptile, fared better, collecting $11.5 million in ticket sales. But that still was a relatively modest result, especially for the first major family movie to land in theaters since the summer. The film, which cost $50 million to make, could benefit from children being out of school for Monday’s Columbus Day and little kid-movie competition this month. A week after topping the charts with a $22-million launch, Paramount Pictures’ “Smile” remained No. 1 with $17.6 million at the box office — an impressive second week for the modestly budget horror flick. Horror films usually fall steeply in their second week of release but “Smile,” a creepy thriller about trauma and evil spirits, dropped just 22%. To keep the momentum, Paramount on Sunday announced a weeklong series of promotions, including discounted tickets and a “Smile” NFT giveaway for some ticket-buyers on Thursday. The best news for Hollywood over the weekend was a sign that adult audiences, after two pandemic-plagued seasons, may be eager to come out for the fall’s top awards contenders. Todd Field’s “Tár,” starring Cate Blanchett as a world-renown conductor, debuted with $160,000 in four New York and Los Angeles theaters, good for a stellar $40,000 per-theater average. After its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Field’s first film since 2006′s “Little Children” has drawn raves from critics and Oscar nomination predictions for Blanchett. The promising start will encourage a long line of awards contenders coming in the next few weeks, including MGM’s Emmett Till drama “Till,” MUBI’s Park Chan-wook thriller “Decision to Leave” and Searchlight Pictures’ “The Banshees of Inisherin,” by writer-director Martin McDonagh. At the same time, a prolonged sluggish period in theaters may be coming to a close. Not since “Bullet Train” opened in early August has a film cleared $23 million, a downturn owed in part to a light release schedule. But next week, Universal Pictures debuts “Halloween Ends” both in theaters and on Peacock. The following weekend sees the release of Warner Bros.′ “Black Adam,” with Dwayne Johnson. Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday. 1. “Smile,” $17.6 million. 2. “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile,” $11.5 million. 3. “Amsterdam,” $6.5 million. 4. “The Woman King,” $5.3 million. 5. “Don’t Worry Darling,” $3.5 million. 6. “Avatar,” $2.6 million. 7. “Barbarian,” $2.2 million. 8. “Bros,” $2.2 million. 9. “Ponniyin Selvan Part One,” $910,000. 10. “Terrifier 2,” $825,000. Among all of their major initiatives, Madame Web is the one that is garnering the most attention. If you add Dakota Johnson to the mix, you'll understand why we refer to it as a thunderous buzz. One of the most eagerly awaited movies in the world is being created at the Sony studios. 6. Amber Heard Blackmailed Elon Musk Into Paying Her Fee For Defamation Trial Against Johnny Depp? Amber Heard Hosted S*x Parties With Ample Amounts Of "MDMA, Alcohol & Intercourse" - The controversy involving Amber Heard and Johnny Depp appears to be far from done. Everyone believed that the defamation trial would put an end to the well-known case, but it appears that it just served to open the door for a number of new controversies. An online influencer is now spreading information about the Aquaman actress' sex parties and how she allegedly blackmailed Elon Musk after 6,600 pages of unsealed documents exposed JD. 7. The Gray Man sequel is confirmed by Dhanush in the manner of "Lone Wolf Is Ready, Are You?" - In the movie, Dhanush portrays the lethal assassin Avik San (also known as Lone Wolf). On Saturday, Tamil actor Dhanush, whose performance in the Hollywood film The Gray Man received high praise, dropped hints that fans took to mean he might also appear in the sequel. He announced on Twitter that the sequel and the Gray Man universe were growing. "Lone Wolf is prepared, are you?" he asked, posting an audio clip with a voice recording. Read the full article

qaf rewatch: 4x09
I'm on a roll / I want to get through the "second act" of S4, as it were! this is the one where justin pushes back. I think. "have some balls."
first scene: brian's dream
vic torturing brian's balls a la evil villain and radiating brian's balls; "who knows, you might even get a few more good years. like me"
brian wakes up on the radiation table. doctor: "I should warn you, you're gonna feel fine for the next few hours but you're gonna hit a wall around noon. nausea, pain, fatigue: they're all normal side effects. in fact, I suggest that for the next few days you just stay home. take it easy. don't go to work." Brian: "Thank you nurse. that's excellent advice."
[random discussion of cancer treatments]
so okay wait. brian only goes for radiation once? my mom's skull tumour they did radiation every day for five days
cancer.org's radiation treatment for testicular cancer says: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/testicular-cancer/treating/by-stage.html
for stage I seminoma: "Radiation therapy: Radiation aimed at para-aortic lymph nodes is another option. These nodes are in the back of the abdomen (belly), around the large blood vessel called the aorta. Because seminoma cells are very sensitive to radiation, low doses can be used. About 10 to 15 treatments are given over 2 to 3 weeks."
So he'd be in radiation for 2-3 weeks after a stage 1 seminoma
otoh it doesn't say whether Brian had a stage 1 or stage IIA seminoma:
radiation treatment for Stage IIA seminomas: Radiation: After surgery to remove the testicle (radical inguinal orchiectomy), one treatment option is radiation to the retroperitoneal lymph nodes. These are the lymph nodes at the back of the abdomen (belly). Usually stage II seminomas are given higher doses of radiation than stage I seminomas.
Mostly I'm curious because again, with my mom's radiation she was tired -- like fatigued to the point of barely being able to get up -- for months after radiation... but it didn't start immediately. in fact the first few weeks she kept saying she felt okay, THEN the fatigue set in.
I don't know enough about testicular cancer -- or about radiation treatments circa 2003 -- to be able to assess the reasonability of these symptoms or the general timeline of brian getting better :/
anyway.
next scene: at ben and michael's
hunter is talking about what to do in hollywood (he wants to go to universal studios).
ben's still being all "aren't you being a bit premature?" he's still not super thrilled about it. once ben leaves michael points out ben is sensitive to the hollywood stuff
next scene: at kinnetik [morning, guess right after radiation]
this is the sad part where brian says he wants justin to fuck off.
justin is in the lobby, brian: "what the fuck are you doing here?" justin: "I'm waiting for you. you won't answer the door, you won't return my calls..." Brian: "Well that should be a hint." Justin: "Why won't you see me?" Brian: yelling for Cynthia to throw justin out. Justin: "You can't just kick me out." Brian: "Watch me."
Cynthia here is literally baffled and confused to hell
okay, so it's terrible how brian throws justin out of kinnetik here and is a complete shit, but let's also point out that again, there's a youngish white guy (the same guy from the meeting??) and a black woman (again, the same woman from the meeting??)
there's also a blond guy with longer hair in the background of this shot.
brian's staff is like. he's got ten employees, period, doesn't he.
next scene: at the graveyard
deb and emmett, vic's gravestone is normal now
emmett gets a call and deb finally apologizes and tries to make her peace.
in the background emmett is chatting with somebody and then you hear "what? arrested??" "what did you do? DUI? well who's gonna help me cater the party tonight?" lol
next scene: at the diner
lindsay, mel and michael moaning over the ultrasound
michael wants to go to lamaze with Mel instead of lindsay because lindsay is busy
justin is leaving the diner (after a shift?) and michael says to Justin, "hey, where have you been! I need those panels so I can come with some dialogue for the evil anal prober" Justin: "how about up your ass?" Michael: "Sounds about right."
Justin and michael on the street: Justin tells him to fuck off because Michael told Brian.
Michael: "Look, I didn't mean to. It just.." Justin: "What, slipped out? We know you have cancer? That is the fucking lamest excuse I've ever heard. You're the one who said we should be strong and honor his wishes." Michael: "I'm sorry--" Justin: [yelling] "Do you have any idea how hard that's been! Why are you sorry? did he kick you out? Does he never wanted to see you again? Well, if that's the way he wants it I'll be glad to honor those wishes too."
new scene: at the university library
ben checking out books and meets his student working behind the counter - he introduces himself and says he loved Ben's first book
Anthony Flynn: flirting with him and Ben's all "it's my policy not to fraternize with my students" and he's still flirting.
new scene: at deb's [afternoon]
Emmett trying to get a caterer last-minute
deb says she'll do it, em's like "thanks, but I need a chef". Emmett's "don't take this the wrong way, but not everything is covered in marinara sauce."
emmett bugs deb about carl and encourages her that he was into her.
Deb says the scrumptious mousse is from darren: "I sent him food every day from the diner [...] and now he sends me goodies back." and then emmett runs tf out -- a chef! a chef!
next scene: at kinnetik [afternoon]
ted coming into brian's office and brian is laying down on the couch asleep and clearly half-dead
Ted: "Jesus christ, what's wrong?" Brian: "I'm fine. Why d'you ask?" Ted: "Well for one thing you look like shit." Brian: "Thank you."
this is where Ted sits down and tries to get Brian to admit to his addiction, and Brian is like "[you moron] it's cancer, Theodore."
And Ted is is like, shocked and Brian's all, "relax, they got it. I'm in radiation. Started this morning. Would you excuse me?" and he runs to the bathroom to throw up.
Also, randomly, the walls in Brian's office are bare concrete daubed with bright paint colours - did justin do that?
this entire thing is great and very important but also just. cute.
next scene: at the university cafeteria [after lunchtime]
ben and that student talking about being infected and not, and everything.
ben: "can I ask you a personal question? [...] are you positive?" anthony: "No." ben says he's just finished a novel but no one's picked it up and anthony says I'd love to read it.
this kid is still flirty as hell.
next scene: at woody's during the day
emmett comes in watching while Darren is practicing
emmett introduces himself, Darren's super weirded out and Emmett finally explains that he's looking for a chef.
"You want Shanda Leer to perform at a party?" Emmett: "No. I want Darren, to cook for a party." Darren: "But I'm not a chef." Emmett: "Well, you do a fabulous impersonation of that too. I mean, those delicacies you've been sending over to Deb's are to die for! Uh, no offence, Vic."
Darren: "I'd love to help you out, but, Shanda's making a comeback and-- god I hate that word. It's a return! There's just no time." Emmett: "Well. Can't blame a girl for trying."
[...] Then darren trips on the stage and breaks a shoe, points out the costuming is expensive. Emmett: "Honey, let's review. You need dough, and I need someone to stuff it with porcini and mushrooms."
next scene: at the comic store
Hunter brings mail by from Brett to michael: it's two checks for Michael and Justin, for $10,000.
Now that doesn't seem all that large.
they're both so excited. and then hunter opens ben's mail and they find out ben got rejected again.
next scene: at horvath's office
deb comes by -- this is where Carl says he's been seeing someone else: "Couple of months now. Name's Catherine." and deb pretends to be cool with it and is all "that's nice! I'm happy for you carl!"
next scene: at kinnetik [afternoon]
ted giving the dandy lube presentation and failing it with cynthia in the room, failing to pretend to be Brian
oh god this is so painful. Cynthia just stands up and takes over because she's actually better at the presentation
the son, Doug -- who looks a lot like chris hobbs -- is like "the gays are a big market" and then when the guy is like "where's the men's room" Cynthia's all "that's your cue you know, make brian proud!"
a direct copy of that 1x02 scene where brian pulls the client into the stall. and Ted at least nails this part, even if he flubbed the pitch
next scene: at the gallery
sam comes by to talk to lindsay and lindsay's all weird about her painting of sam naked
sam knows he's nailed the deal with lindsay -- but I do think he's also honest about the fact that he likes her art when she's invigorated
like, he's clearly got an agenda to fuck her but he's not lying about how her art isn't good unless she's taking risks [which is a paraphrase but, still] - he uses the truth to manipulate and use women
next scene: at the loft [evening]
michael shows up and knocks till brian answers (who looks like shit)
the window says it's evening - this has to be the same day that justin yells at michael?
Michael: jesus, what happened to you? Brian: chernobyl. Michael: "Christ, you should be in bed." Brian: "Well I was, but someone kept knock, knock, knocking at my fucking door. ...what are you doing?"
Michael: "I'm making some chicken soup." [opens the fridge] "there's nothing in here but beer and poppers." Brian: "All the essentials." Michael: "Well, gonna have to stock up on groceries." Brian: "Michael. Michael" Michael: "And as long as I'm here I can do your laundr--" Brian [yelling]: "Michael!"
Brian: "This is exactly why I did not want anyone to know, it's why I told everyone that I went to Ibiza. In the hopes that I wouldn't be treated like an invalid, or a victim, or like I was gonna die. Now would you get out of here!"
brian goes back to bed, but michael is not put off. Michael follows him as brian puts the pillow over his head.
Brian: "What don't you understand about fuck off?" Michael: "Think you can kick me out of here the way you did Justin? And for what? Trying not to let on that he knew? Because that's the way you wanted it? He deserves to know. He's your lover. Your partner, whether you want to admit it or not."
you know what? Brian has admitted it, though. So this is a bit contrived, even though an afraid brian would be this selfish and lash out.
Michael [continuing]: "And sick or not that's a fucking shitty way to treat him." Brian: "I was only trying to make it easier." Michael: "By never seeing him again?" Brian: "He would have left sooner or later anyway, might as well be sooner."
and there we have quintessential Brian: he does not in any way, shape or form not believe that Justin won't leave.
Michael: "What are you--" Brian: "Would you just go home Michael? Go home! To your wife, and your kid!" and like a five year old, Brian rolls back over and puts the pillow over his head.
next scene: at a party at Drew Boyd's house [evening]
oh yeah, this is Drew Boyd's engagement party that Emmett is catering!
Darren: "Those Ironmen are delectable." Emmett: "Almost as delectably as your cherries jubilee."
Darren and Emmett look really great in their very fashionable, professional clothes, and they do extremely well, despite being made fun of by the football players.
Emmett pulls Drew Boyd aside and [without making a scene] says "I hope I'm not out of place for saying this-- actually, I don't give a fuck if I am" and then gives Drew Boyd shit for talking about him and Darren behind their back. And does it without being rude or ruining the party
next scene: at ben and michael's
ben notices his publisher's letter is open, gets another rejection and then gives up, and starts getting a bit mad about their assistance
Michael bought Ben a fancy new laptop with Brett's money and ben says he doesn't want michael's pity, which is sort of fair
hunter: "So... does this mean I get the computer?"
next scene: at woody's [night]
Debbie sitting at the bar when Emmett comes by, they talk about the party, Darren worked out well
Debbie is drinking lager, talking about how she lost Carl and how she didn't realize until he was gone that she wanted him
next scene: at lamaze class [next morning I guess?]
mel and michael making fun of the straight couples and "how we've come so far, how lucky, such stable home lives" except thery're all about to fall apart
next scene: at the comic store [next morning]
justin's outside as michael comes up
Justin's just like "I came for the check" and when Michael gives it to him he walks off
Michael: "Hey, wait up." Justin: "What for?" Michael: "I saw Brian last night." Justin: "Well lucky you." Michael: "He looked like shit. Felt so bad he could hardly get out of bed" Justin: "I'm sorry to hear that but it really doesn't concern me anymore." Michael: "That's bullshit."
Justin: "He fucking kicked me out. Said he didn't want to see me again." Michael: "More like he doesn't want you to see him." Justin finally stops walking and starts listening.
So it's really sad, but also fair, for Justin to really not understand so wholly. Like. He can't even fathom that Brian believes Justin won't love him, because Justin loves him so much that how can Brian even think it?
Michael: "You read the Kinney operating manual! He thinks now that he's sick, that he's no longer perfect, that you won't love him anymore. That you're gonna leave him." Justin: "That's crazy. Even for him."
Michael: "Not if you've put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak. When being young, being beautiful, when being Brian Kinney is what it's all about, take that away, he figures, what's he got?"
And sure, Justin walks off, but Michael has obviously heard him
next scene: at the gallery
Sam Aubach's paintings are very abstracted
now lindsay is totally all right with him touching her, gross
All it takes to get into Lindsay's pants is complimenting her art
next scene: at ben and michael's [evening]
Ben preparing a lecture and mostly ignoring Michael
Ben is being very calm and objective but also definitely not dealing with this rejection or him blaming michael at all
Ben: I'm refocusing my goals and deciding to not write but teach. He's definitely avoiding this conversation by pretending to be all zen lol
next scene: at Drew Boyd's [night]
Emmett shows up looking for Drew's fiancee, for his check and his equipment
oh right, this is where drew seduces him in a grossly straight guy manner
this season is, apparently, all about gross straight guys being manipulative and hiding from the truth?
drew boyd: seducing the queen while acting straight and pretending
sam aubach: seducing lindsay
even brian hiding from justin about his cancer, though brian isn't being as manipulative as the others
next scene: at ben's office [night]
creepy anthony drops by ben's office to talk about ben's book
hey, another parallel: creepy anthony seducing ben via his book and sam seducing lindsay via her art
next scene: at kinnetik [must be next morning]
brian barely getting through the day, guess this is day two of radiation?
"Dandy Lube just called, we got'em" - so maybe two days after the presentation and when brian throws him out
ted is all confident and throws brian out of the office, but brian feels like such shit he doesn't disagree
next scene: at the loft [afternoon]
brian getting home and barely standing
justin at the stove as if he belongs there making chicken soup
okay, so let's recap: brian threw justin out, but obviously he didn't change the alarm code, or the locks, since justin just. got in. some part of him wanted him to come back?
we could argue that it's because lindsay, michael, fuckin everyone else who has a damned key wouldn't be able to get in then, but...
also, if justin was basically living with brian after the kinnetik launch party (daphne disappeared these episodes), and brian threw him out, where'd justin's stuff go?
Brian: "Thought I told you to get out." Justin: "Guess I didn't hear. You tend to mumble a lot." Brian slaps his portfolio on the kitchen island.
also, let's talk about the fact that brian's kitchen island is on wheels, but theoretically it's also got a range where justin is making soup on. lol set continuity. it's okay!
Justin: "You want some soup? It's debbie's homemade recipe." Brian: "no wonder I feel like barfing. Listen to me, you little shit. I don't. want. you here." Justin: [calmly] "I don't care what you want."
Brian goes to grab him and haul him away -- again, like, the second real time Brian's put his hands on Justin.
Justin: "You're not getting rid of me." Justin tosses him and Brian falls to the ground. Justin: "Shit, are you alright? Tell me you're--" Brian: "I'm allright!" Justin: "You're not all right." Brian: [getting up and yelling] "Then why the hell are you asking me for?"
and here's justin's line: "So I can tell you what a motherfucking piece of shit you are for not telling me. For shutting me out. For thinking you could handle this on your own. And most of all, for thinking I would leave you. Why would you think that? Because you had a ball removed? Because you're no longer perfect? Well believe me Mr. Kinney. That is the least of your imperfections. And if I'd wanted to leave you, I've had better reasons. Plenty of them."
it's not Justin's fault, but. throwing this in brian's face right at this point in time, no matter how well-meaning, is probably not the best way to reassure him that justin is not, in fact, leaving. oh justin.
Brian: "Well maybe you should have." Justin: "Yeah, maybe you're right. But I thought we had a commitment. And I plan to stand by it. Now why don't you get your ass back in bed, you son of a bitch. And eat some fucking chicken soup."
I sort of actually hate this scene? because justin inadvertantly tells brian he isn't leaving because he made a commitment, not because he *wants* to. and what brian wants is justin to *want* to be there. idk.
on the other hand, it's not exactly Justin's fault -- he's dealing with a lot.

Dean Stockwell, Reluctant Child Star By Raquel Stecher
Tumblr media
Born in Hollywood to a show business family, it seemed like Dean Stockwell was destined to become a movie star, but Stockwell stumbled into the industry simply by chance. In 1942, his mother Elizabeth “Betty” Stockwell, a vaudeville performer, and his father Harry, a stage singer best known for being the voice of the Prince in SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS (’37), heard of a casting call for children. Dean and his older brother Guy auditioned for roles in a stage performance of The Innocent Voyage. Though only landing a small part with just two lines, it was all that was needed to catch the eye of an MGM talent scout. Before he knew it, the nine-year-old Stockwell had a seven-year contract with the studio. He was exactly what they were looking for. With his mop of curly hair and prominent pout, he gave off just the right combination of innocence and petulance that would make him a perfect fit to play orphans and spoiled rich kids in a variety of MGM productions.
Dean Stockwell was off to a roaring start with plum roles in big productions like ANCHOR’S AWEIGH (’45), THE GREEN YEARS (’46), GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT (’47) and SONG OF THE THIN MAN (’47). He held his own with big stars like Gregory Peck, Gene Kelly, William Powell, Myrna Loy, Greer Garson, Robert Ryan and Lionel Barrymore and other child stars Peggy Ann Garner, Darryl Hickman and Margaret O’Brien.
He was an incredible asset to MGM. Stockwell could be counted on to cry in front of the camera, sometimes coaxed by a director who encouraged him to imagine a dying pet. Even with that, Stockwell developed a reputation as an intelligent and sensitive young boy who needed little rehearsal and minimal direction. They called him “One-Take Stockwell.” In interviews years later, he recalled “I had photographic memory when I was a kid. I still can memorize lines very easily.” Stockwell was a natural and the parts just kept coming. When he wasn’t working for MGM on films, his home studio would loan him out to RKO, 20th Century-Fox and Universal.
Tumblr media
But Being a child actor took a toll on Stockwell. The studio system could be cruel to child stars and Stockwell often bore the brunt of it. In an interview Stockwell said, “[as a] child star… I didn't have much privacy and I was working all the time. I couldn't be where I wanted to be; I couldn't play; so I needed to find anonymity, to just disappear.” He often worked 10-hour days six days a week, which included 3 hours of learning in the Little Red Schoolhouse on the MGM lot. He had to keep going for two reasons: 1.) his ironclad contract with MGM and 2.) a family to support, now that Betty was raising Dean and his brother as a single mom. Stockwell desperately wanted to be an average kid. He loved playing sports, dreamed of going to public school and loved spending time with his dogs, Thug and Thief. On the set of STARS IN MY CROWN (’50), he even declared to producer William Wright “I wish you’d fire me, so I wouldn’t have to work!”
During his seven-year contract with MGM, he made nearly 20 films for his home studio and others while on loan out. For the most part, Stockwell was miserable working as a child actor but there were two productions that he particularly loved. One was the anti-war drama THE BOY WITH THE GREEN HAIR (‘48) produced by RKO. In it, he plays a war orphan whose hair suddenly turns green, making him stand out from the locals. Stockwell identified with his character’s desire to fit in and the film’s pacifist message. When Howard Hughes tried to get him to deliver a pro-war statement, Stockwell stood up to the studio tycoon and refused. A few years later, he starred alongside Errol Flynn in KIM (’51), an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic story. Flynn became a father figure of sorts to young Stockwell and the two got on like a house on fire.
As Dean got older, he entered into what he called the “awkward age.” He later said, “[MGM] couldn't see how they were going to cast me now that I was turning 17. So they let me out of it and I just took off.” Dean finished high school, attended UC Berkeley and dropped out before finishing his first year. He didn’t know what he wanted but he did know he no longer wanted to be Dean Stockwell the child star. He donned a new identity, Rudy Stocker, and lived in anonymity as a day laborer. He made his way back to acting after a few years. Had it not been for his escape from Hollywood, a time period Stockwell referred to as “an education in living”, as well as the support of his mother, he might have gone down the wrong path as other child actors have done. Instead Dean Stockwell made an excellent comeback in the Leopold and Lobb inspired murder drama COMPULSION (’59). Reflecting on his past, Stockwell said “I have to know if people want me – for myself.” He would make several comebacks throughout his acting career and he learned an important lesson from his days as a child actor: be true to yourself.

Versions of Modern!Commodus that I’ve Toyed With
Version 1: Dr. Augustus Aurelius, Cardiothoracic Surgeon
Tumblr media
Character notes
(Yes, I know this is a photo of an older, non-Commodus-looking Joaquin Phoenix, but it felt appropriate)
Very, very ambitious (wants to be the best at everything) and always strives for excellence, be it getting the best grades in school or getting into the best residency programs
Participated in fencing, horseback riding, and tennis while in school and university
He has a rather interesting habit of dissecting animal parts (he’d use cadavers instead if he could) when he’s not doing surgeries or studying. Every time, he’d head to the butcher’s and ask for any fresh brains, kidneys, hearts, or livers. Then, he’d take them back to his apartment and dissect them, labeling valves and arteries.
Lives by himself in a luxurious apartment/penthouse overlooking the cityscape...though one could also say he lives at the hospital too.
Very famous as a surgeon - the kind people would fly across the ocean to get treated by.
Version 2: Aelius Commodus, Hollywood playboy and Oscar-winner
Tumblr media
Character Notes
Started out as part of an independent film production studio situated in Italy
His acting career mainly consists of epic films, where he usually plays a villain. Even the few dramas and psychological thrillers that he stars in always include him playing very dark characters.
Aside from his phenomenal acting skills, his exploits at nightclubs and colorful interviews capture the attention of the paparazzi
He’s always spotted with a new lady on his arm (models, actresses, singers, fashion designers, makeup artists, etc.)
Always down for a good time, but parties mainly to forget the fact that he lives alone...and that his only real family is his butler/chauffeur
Version 3: Commodus Aurelius, high school drama student and aspiring actor
Tumblr media
Character Notes
Usually keeps to himself, doesn’t have a lot of friends - but that’s partially because he’s very selective about his company
Always listening to something in earbuds - it’s either punk rock or classical music, nothing in between
Has a killer sense of style that involves guy-liner, slightly messy dark hair, and designer black clothing (favorite brand? Prada of course)
His signature scent is Tom Ford Noir
Extremely passionate about performing
His schedule is packed with all kinds of performing arts (Opera lessons, ballet, acting roles in various productions, piano lessons)
He’s the black sheep of his family
Often enjoys wandering around late at night, smoking a cigarette
Sometimes he’ll sneak into a library or museum after hours just for the thrill of it.
Version 4: Lucius Aurelius Commodus, Rome’s modern-day Prince Charming
Tumblr media
Character Notes
Yes, he is a member of the British royal family but he was born in Rome while his parents were on holiday
Has luxurious tastes and loves to flaunt them, be it a designer watch or a perfect bottle of Bollinger to impress his company
However, he does believe in the importance of helping the less fortunate and participates in charity events on behalf of the Crown
Kind of a rebel at times, not hesitating to take action by leading efforts to stop international trafficking or to increase access to justice and basic human rights
Has kind of a love/hate relationship with the media. He likes good interviewers who ask insightful questions and genuinely want to know things, but also dislikes it when they ask him trivial matters and invade his private matters
Having been the World’s Most Gorgeous Bachelor for a long time, it’s an international day of mourning when he ties the knot with the love of his life
He may or may not be secretly a vampire (just kidding about that one. Sorry, your Highness)

Universal took Tremors from its creators after 30 years of work.
TL;DR After 25-30 years making the series, Brent Maddock, Michael Gross, Nancy Roberts, Ron Underwood and S.S. Wilson were kicked out so Universal Studios could make more money off the merchandising before the Tremors copyright expires in 2025.
*****MAJOR SPOILERS**** This will make you sad, angry and frustrated. But there is hope. #StampedeTremors
Soooooo, ever since I blew up and sidetracked a post about David Fincher's Queen Biopic with Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury discussing the Tremors 7 ending, I've done some more research on the whole thing. The Graboid hole for this goes deep.
Michael Gross didn't want it.
“There’s a part of me that feels that Universal Home Entertainment might’ve had enough of Tremors. The suggestions that were made in the course of this [movie] made me think maybe they’ve had enough. They came to me and said, ‘What if we ended it at 7?’ and I said, ‘Whatever you choose to do, I’m good with that.'” “That being said, The door is still open for an eighth Tremors. It may seem unlikely by what people see on the screen, but it is possible. There could be an eighth. And if there were, and if it were an interesting story, I would be up for it because Burt is always a great deal of fun. It would depend on his physicality. How much they want me to do. If it’s in another two years, I’ll be 75 years old. So I will continue to hope and pray that I stay in shape, to do what is asked of me – if it is asked of me.”
AND Universal even killed off any ambiguity that he fought for.
"We shot it both ways, where everybody's mourning Burt, and he climbs up over the cliff and looks at all of them in mourning and goes, 'Jesus, God, I'm not dead. And he's really pissed off at them. It's like, 'How would you possibly think...?' But he's bloodied, just he's a mess. He looks like he's been through an earthquake, crushed by a house, but he's alive. And he says, 'You idiots. Of course, I'm alive.'" "They decided it just had this punch. Frankly, I thought to myself -- I didn't express it to them, but I thought to myself -- 'Maybe Universal's getting a little tired of this franchise.' Because this wasn't my idea." "I said, 'I can live with this. Because they came to me. They said, 'Look, you've been doing this so long. What do you think?' And I said, 'Well, as long as we kind of leave the door open.' I mean, I can kind of see an eighth film where it opens with Burt in a hospital bed, in a full body cast and saying, 'I survived.' He could hardly move a muscle. And maybe eight is...if I had a concept for eight, it would be Burt horribly injured, but in a motorized, weaponized wheelchair that has rocket mounts on the side and can leave an oil slick behind like James Bond's car. So nobody can chase him." "I always said, if Kevin Bacon or Fred [Ward] or Reba [McIntire] or anybody [wanted to return], I'd be there in a minute. Just because one, I love Burt, but I always thought of him as this guy kind of on the fringes, and I just came to the fore because everybody else walked away."

While Universal ignored how Michael Gross was setting up his son Travis Welker to pick up his torch (Which I'm give or take on Jamie Kennedy yet he brought a Grady-like optimism to the shittier of the series.)
"My reaction was disappointment, as I had planned an entire storyline around his participation."
Even Jamie Kennedy tried to but they wouldn't let him.
"Lot of people have been asking me, so I might as well spill it. I will NOT be in the upcoming TREMORS 7. I had a great time making the last two. But no TRAVIS this time around. But hey you neva’ know what can happen in the future.... have a great time boys! Tdawg out!!!"

After 7 movies and a TV show, nothing more than a spit in the face for the man who carried a franchise. Then when they do the montage at the end, we get clips of Hiram Gummer but NOTHING of Burt Gummer from the TV show. It's 13 episodes of Burt in Tremors that's longer than all the movies combined but yet they don't even include it in the ending montage while including his dead grandpa.
Same with the original creators. Did you know Stampede Entertainment (Brent Maddock, Nancy Roberts, Ron Underwood, and S.S. Wilson) were working on Tremors for 25 years and even had the 5th one written, "Thunder/Gummer Down Under".
Then were told to sit on it for 10 years before Universal eventually told them to eat dirt? That's gotta hurt. It hurts me and I'm not even connected to these movies. All that work down the drain just because of someone's say so. And for no reason. Well not exactly....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Universal knows fans want Tremors merch. I mean, look at how they took #BurtGummerDay from @BabyFarkMcGeeZax. And they want ALLLLLL of that merchandising money. With none of it going to Stampede because it would give them leverage. Not to mention they don't want anyone else getting the idea to make cute monster toys before they can roll out their own line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't believe me? See Universal pull some Hollywood Accounting with Tremors already.
Tumblr media
http://imgur.com/gallery/mFNIHV3
Half a billion dollars... completely untraceable. I've tried. Emailed the numbers people and they can't tell me anything unless you pay $50 a film to see the numbers. Which makes me ask, who paid for the numbers on 1,5, 6, & 7? And why only what they made? Not their cost. Same for the numbers on 2, 3, & 4. Why numbers on the cost, but nothing on what it made? It seems weirdly targeted to make it look like the Stampede Entertainment ones only cost money but made nothing.
Then when you find out that the copyright to Tremors will revert to its creators after the 35 year mark, which makes that date 2024-2025 since Tremors was filmed in '88-'89 but released in '90.....
Wellllllll some things start to add up. Especially when you consider it's Universal. They already know about owning copyrights for things long out of due. Ask Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. Or Nintendo when Universal tried to sue them because Donkey Kong was too similar to King Kong.
Ask Stampede (S.S. Wilson) yourself. They have a Question and Answer page right on their site.
Like did you know you can't find ANY official Tremors merch? But you CAN find tons of fan-made creations. Give it a Google. They don't even list Tremors on the Universal website. Go ahead. Ask them. I try weekly. No responses ever.
https://www.universalpictures.com/about
Even with a longer history, more money made, and amount of sequel potential in comparison to their other films?
http://imgur.com/gallery/ZnXEsI3
Fans are clamoring for more but Universal says no?
Hell, you can watch the TV show for free on the NBC site.
But before my investigating, the episodes were so jumbled and missing it would ruin people's enjoyment.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Tremors/comments/m0wvwu/tremors_episode_9_graboid_rights_is_back_on_nbc/
What about how they made a Tremors series pilot with Kevin Bacon? The only bad thing about it is that they need to pull a Sonic redo on the Graboid at the end but who knows, I suspect it's like that for plot reasons after reading the unaired script.
https://youtu.be/hWU3GpKmIvw
That Universal/NBC/SyFy has proceeded to hide deeper than a Graboid burrows. https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/tremors-star-kevin-bacon-confused-sequel-series-picked/
Despite no one knowing why. http://imgur.com/gallery/w7rbUvZ
Read the script for yourself if you don't believe me. They've already hidden it for two years. Andrew Miller worked too hard for it to be hidden. And it plays. It works and plays with what's already there while being new and old. Quite good.
Have you seen the Kevin Bacon/Michael Gross commercial featuring them in Perfection Valley? The whole commercial is a sly way to use Tremors WITHOUT actually saying anything Universal would have claim to call copyright on. "Sandworms" "My old co-star" "Trevors". It's a great big middle finger to Universal.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E_O0K9hmlrw
How about the original script for Tremors 2: Aftershocks. The creators have wanted it seen for 20 years but it took a crazy Larry like me to get it out there. It's got Val, Earl, Burt and Heather in it too. Pretty good too. So good they reused the ending in the TV show episode "Shriek and Destroy".
All these things swirl together and make me wonder more and more. For the plethora of Tremors fandom goes deeper than even me... Like Imgur user @BabyFarkMcGeeZax. They created Burt Gummer Day five years ago through sweat and love alone.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Tremors/comments/mb2rtz/babyfarkmcgeezax_created_burt_gummer_day_and/
Yet what does Universal do? Take the day, plaster it over the end of their hero's death, and not even give a line credit or thank you to @BabyFarkMcGeeZax or a mention on Twitter as they blurb it everywhere.

"A fortune", you say? Interesting....
So let's make Tremors 8 Ouroboros with the OG creators back on board.
https://imgur.com/gallery/o2kCFLu
We restart the TV show and end the movies for a while. Just like The Librarians. If Marvel can switch between movies and TV, Tremors can too.
If you think I'm crazy too, just see and know how I've been in this position before. I'm well aware of how this "story" plays out.
I mean, Tremors *does* foreshadows its ending with a sleeping bag. https://imgur.com/gallery/5HexQ
Notice too how you can find little Behind the Scenes for Tremors 5-7 despite a smorgasbord of material for 1-4 and both TV shows.
http://imgur.com/gallery/b4STAkl http://imgur.com/gallery/gSlZ1fC http://imgur.com/gallery/fnFt9MD http://imgur.com/gallery/6mDHTtg http://imgur.com/gallery/4M28quW http://imgur.com/gallery/w7rbUvZ http://imgur.com/gallery/6l0Dogl
And it's not like Universal isn't known for shady business practices. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Pictures
What about how they own the rights to damn near every monster except for Godzilla. And not just the classics like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman, Mummy and Invisible Man. They have Kong, Hulk, Jaws, Michael Myers, The Thing, all the Jurassic Park dinos, all the Romero zombies, Chucky, Casper, Riddick beasts, Hellboy, and Jaegers/Kaiju. These dudes know merchandising rights and they're looking to score the next Poke'Mon franchise.
