Thank God For Family

Families are one of God's precious gifts to us. They come in all different combinations, but the purpose is the same, so that we can love and support each other through this difficult journey of life. How sad it is when there is fighting and jealousy inside the family. There is oh! so much joy that is missed because of selfishness and pride. Some people may not have family that is blood related, but you still belong to a family, the best family ever, the family of God. This forever family is made up of believers who are connected through faith. Brothers and sisters in our churches should be there to encourage, help and spiritually uplift each other. Pray and ask God to make you the brother or sister He wants you to be. Throw criticism, jealousy, and hatred out the window and replace it with an extra measure of God's love for your fellow man. So y'know that writer thing that's something like: "Write the fic/book you want to read". And I understand the sentiment, and it's a lovely one. BUT I know that if and when I try writing the thing I want to read I'm going to pick it apart to death. But if Someone else writes the exact same thing with all the same flaws and imperfections, I know I will still appreciate and love that more, because when it comes from someone else it feels like this amazing gift. It's so incredibly special because it feels like someone at least tried and put in so much love and effort into crafting a gift specifically for you.

Some kind words and advice I got from some of my highschool teachers after I told them I'd failed my second year at uni (after being a burnt out gifted kid, some of these words really meant a lot to me). Enjoy:

1- You aren't your failure, you are a collection of all your experiences. You're only a failure if you tell yourself you are. -my biology teacher

2- Almost everyone fails at some point. What matters isn't that you failed, what matters is finishing what you started. -my physics teacher

3- You'll come back from this, it's a chance to really solidify what you knew and really understand what you didn't. It still sucks though. -my English teacher

4- Your parents usually aren't disappointed because of who you are, they are usually disappointed because they wanted the best for you. It doesn't mean that your journey is over now, it just means it'll take a bit longer. At the end of the day, once you have your degree no one asks how long you studied for it. -my biology teacher again

Maybe this isn't as helpful to you reading this, maybe you've never been in a position where you feel like you've failed abysmally, and i hope that you don't feel like that in your life. But for the people who do feel like they've failed and are irredeemable now, maybe these will speak to you. Maybe they won't, but I do believe that it's not over until you give up on your dream.
