I'm doing a bit of a Q&A about my ChordStriker!AU on insta after sharing this teaser WIP, so I figured I'd present some of the questions here! (Feel free to ask more btw!)

Q: "Is Poppy's family (Peppy & Viva) still with her since the Bergens didn't attack them?"

A: Peppy is with her, but he is confused/in mental decline like canon King Thrash was. Viva is missing. Poppy was old enough to remember her.

Q: "Will Viva play somewhat of a role in this AU?"

A: Yes, she's had a much bigger impact on Poppy's life, even till this day even though she's been missing for many years now. Poppy has never stopped looking for her.

Q: "Is King Peppy still a liar in your AU?"

A: Nah, he's normal. Sometimes hating him with my entire being is hard, so he gets to be a good dad this time. He's just not all there mentally so Poppy is more like his caretaker now.

Q: "Poppy's relationships don't last long because she gets bored... So how long is Branch going to last?"

A: The Rat Pack (Snack Pack) is wondering the same thing, but Poppy's never used the bf/gf/partner labels before meeting him which is strange... 👀

Only Queen Barbie calls her Val. She is very optimistic & loves to sing & dance! She's Barbie’s right-hand troll, BFFL & knows everything about her. They have a very... "close" relationship. ;] She's a popstar who's managed by Demo and loves to help make Pop Village a happier place.

Riff

He's a university student studying to be an engineer. He's very soft spoken, doesn't like to make a fuss and is probably the nicest guy around. He's quite close to Barbie and sees her as an older sister. He's actually on friendly terms with Branch. His favorite treat is lollipops. 🍭

Carol

But you can call her Carrie! Everyone does. She's a bit of a diva, loves to look good & dull things bore her. She will ignore anything that doesn't catch her eye, even trolls. Best to be looking your very best!

Sid Fret

Just call him Sid, no need to be so formal. He is every trolls dream guy and he knows it! He's a great roller derby racer and loves the attention trolls give him. Sure, he's a little self-absorbed, but he's a very loyal friend.

Not much has changed about Demo. He's perfect as he is <3 He's just a little more excitable & cutesy than before. He cares about Valentina a lot & they are very close friends.

She is the blueprint, she's the moment, she's everything. A model, actress, singer, you name it, she can do it. She's perfect... Who doesn't want to be her?

Q: "How different is Branch in this AU vs canon Branch?"

A: He is the same Branch essentially, just without the development he gains at the end of Trolls 1 & so-on. None of it occurred, so he is still grey, miserable & a recluse. He helped Barb to come up with a plan to keep everyone safe after nagging & warning her for ages, but after that, he returned to his bunker & is still not well-liked by the village.

Q: "Does she know Branch's whole past? If she does, what was her reaction?"

A: Not sure if you meant Barb or Poppy, so I'll answer for both. Barb—no. I don't think she'd ever find out, and she's also not the type to ask. Their personalities clash a bit too much, she stays out of his way like he asks her to.

For Poppy—I think it would come up naturally in conversation after a while when Branch feels more comfortable sharing. Poppy isn't the type to pry, but makes it clear that it's out of understanding, not a lack of caring. She can tell that he is closed off for a reason. She relates to that. I think she'd be beyond pissed once he told her, though.

Q: "Will Branch's brothers be in this?"

A: Yes, but Floyd will be getting the bigger role this time.

Q: "How quickly does Branch fall for Poppy? I'm sure the answer is yes, but is he happy?"

A: I'd say he's quite guarded in the beginning. He is cautious around her for the first few weeks, but he starts to come around once he picks up on Poppy being emotionally guarded herself.

Things move quickly once their walls come down around each other, & a mutual understanding is there. Poppy fell for him first. (At least, that's what Branch lets her believe, as it was love at first sight for him, but he'd never tell her that; she'd get a big head about it.)

Hey lol uh this is my first time requesting and stuff so I hope I won’t be a bother and stuff but could you do a male reader who’s a lot like mommy long legs from poppy playtime.

And basically he is the older sibling of angel dust and always been the parent for him through his struggles, but one day male reader decided to visit the Masquerade While filming, reader arrives and Angel Dust immediately tries to get them away before Valentino sees then. When the reader accidentally ruins the set, Valentino takes Angel Dust away and abuses him when made the reader very angry to the point realizing what’s happening to angel they became deranged to the point there eyes are now completely dilated, giving off an unhinged vibe there hair is now twisted and mangled, no longer the neat curls in there previous form there hands are enlarged maniacally, and his fingers are splayed and elongated to resemble claws. His body is also twisted in even more alarming and unnatural angles.

(Er I don’t really want to put that much but you can definitely decide if you want male reader to do something to Valentino but you don’t really need to do this if this is too much and I’ll completely understand😭)

You took Angel Dust in one of your hand (kind of like Mommy Long Legs with Poppy) and pulled him away from Valentino.

You would have killed Valentino right now if Anthony wasn't there, he don't need to see you kill him.

Valentino just nodded silently in fear, your shadow covering him.

"Great !" You said happily, placing Anthony on the ground before changing back to your smaller size.

After that, you, Charlie and Anthony had left the studio.

You might not have been able to cancel his contract today, but that's okay. You will do it another day.

OneShinyApple and I are different people! I'm Traincat here and on ao3 and pretty much everywhere else.

I think they would typically be on the same page, but that Johnny would really want to be the fun parent. This isn't hard, generally -- Peter I think leans towards being the stricter parent, just one with a general air of knowing he'll lose the battle but having to make his feelings known anyway. I think Johnny would swing between wanting to provide everything for his kids, both materially and emotionally, especially considering his own childhood, but also he'd worry he was spoiling them, and that any negative personality trait would be directly his fault. But I also think he'd be pretty protective, judging by how the FF attempt to shield Franklin and Val from the negative effects of celebrity life. So Peter's probably expecting Johnny to want to put their kids on the front of Baby Vogue and Johnny meanwhile is secretly researching high security private chalets in the mountains of Switzerland. I think they're both incredibly protective, in pretty much all areas.

We pretty much know what Peter is like as a dad, because there's a whole series featuring it in MC2's Spider-Girl, and it's just. It's so funny. He's the most Dad Man alive.

Look at this. Look at that little Ralph Lauren baby polo and white shorts. Look at this little baby Land's End ad. It has Gwen's color coordinated fingers all over it. There is no way in hell Peter picked that out himself. Which means Johnny will be dressing himself and their kid up in matching flame print outfits and there is nothing Peter can do about it.

It’s been about an hour since I walked out of the theater from seeing Thunderbolts* for the third time (this time in 3D), and I can’t stop thinking about this film, I’m so obsessed.

This movie has SO much rewatch-ability, I will die on that fucking hill forever. In the past 6 days, I’ve seen it three times, and it’s only gotten more enjoyable/emotional with each watch.

ALSO, now that I know the story and I know exactly where it’s going and I can stop digesting the plot like I would on a first watch, I can focus on other things and try to seek out smaller details that make small (and big) moments THAT much bigger.

It’s the small things that MURDER me.

Anywaysssssss here are

DETAILS THAT I NOTICED ABOUT THUNDERBOLTS* IN THE THIRD WATCH

SPOILERS!!!

(mostly Bob not gonna lie lol)

Not necessarily in any order. (And I will probably make separate posts for a lot of these once the movie comes out on digital/Disney+ and I can make high-quality gifs.)

In the attic scene in Bob’s shame rooms, when Yelena is slowly approaching Bob, Bob is silently breaking down and trying not to cry. As Yelena comes nearer, Bob keeps looking back at her, then looking away again, almost doing a double take to see if she’s still coming closer. Then when Yelena sits down by him, Bob has head fully turned away from her with his hair draped over his face because he doesn’t want to cry in front of her 🥺

Another thing about the attic scene, when Yelena reaches forward and lays her hand on Bob’s wrist to provide some physical comfort, the movie hangs on that shot for a LONG time. With NO dialogue. On a third watch, I realized how long that shot feels, and it’s so beautiful, I LOVE that choice to let the moment BREATHE. They let the emotion of the moment and of Bob’s trauma weigh heavy on that one shot, with Yelena watching him intently and Bob turned away, trying not to cry.

In the scene when Val is talking to Bob after he wakes up, Bob is understandably pretty apprehensive and scared around her, right up until Val calls him perfect, and Bob visibly responds positively to that. I think he does repeat her compliment to himself, but he has a physical response to that as well.

There are multiple points in the movie where Bob gets a compliment and his behavior and demeanor IMMEDIATELY changes, and he's like a little kid being praised. And it's really sad imo to think about WHY. He had a very abusive childhood and he's had a really hard life, he probably doesn't hear compliments very often at all. He is so deprived of compassion and love that he will respond to ANYONE that will give him compliments and speak highly of him, EVEN when it's manipulative. I think Val notices this and feeds off of that.

4. One of the many acting moments that I LOVE in Thunderbolts* is when Bob and Yelena are having their first conversation in the vault, Bob says that he’ll just stay behind. Yelena counters and says, “No, you’ll die down here.” Then Bob continues and admits that he’s fine with that and says some other depressing shit, and there’s a split second in Yelena’s face where she realizes that he’s not joking and is 100% serious, and for a second, she looks almost heartbroken, like she’s just realizing that “whoa, hold on, this guy is really depressed.” Florence Pugh KILLED with that moment, there’s so much emotion on her face and that sudden realization, and then you can see her processing that.

5. All the way at the beginning of the movie, when Yelena is in the lab, she’s fixated on getting into that one room that needs a facial recognition, and something I realized is that in that locked room, the room where Bob was for the medical study, there are the two ‘Voided’ shadows frozen in place IN THAT ROOM. That detail is there even in the beginning.

6. When Val is trying to get Bob to move the glass of water, he tries and then fails, then backs down and says that he can’t do it. Val compliments him again, a really manipulative compliment, then Bob immediately perks up, tries again, then succeeds.

7. When Bob and Val are talking (again, after Bob wakes up), Val sees her shame room from touching Bob. Then when she returns to the present moment and goes to leave, Bob doesn’t do anything. But it’s only when Val takes the Sentry signet from the en-table that Bob stops her and says he can control it. He's SO desperate to be seen and loved and appreciated 😭

8. When the Thunderbolts* meet Sentry and they’re trying to get through to Bob, John says, “You don’t wanna do this, Bobby,” or something like that. Bob visibly reacts to that use of that name, his eyelids twitch, and he gives John a sort of twisted glare or something, then says, “You can call me the Sentry.”

I’ll ramble more on this in future posts when I make gifs as well, but Lewis Pullman’s acting blows me away. I’ve never seen him in anything else, I’d never heard of him before this movie, and I think he portrays Bob brilliantly. I can’t see anybody else as Bob. Lewis manages to balance Bob’s timidness and innocence with the darkness and mental instability hiding just under the surface SO well. His eye-acting is so intense and visceral, there were many close-ups where I noticed tiny movements in his face or an intense reaction to something flickering in his eyes, and it reminds me of Sebastian Stan’s acting in the Winter Soldier when he’s being talked to by Alexander Pierce. That’s the vibe I get with Lewis in Thunderbolts*, there is a WORLD of pain inside Bob’s eyes, and I think Lewis brings that power to him.

How ironic that the ones who fucked up enough to get sent here are treated better than the innocent demons who never even got a chance at life in the first place. This was the reason you decided to become a thief. If no one was willing to hire the lowlife so that you could make an honest living, you would steal to live a comfortable life. You weren't a Saint by any means but you weren't evil enough to steal from your own kind, only people who either deserved it or people who could afford to be stolen from. That includes overlords, and more specifically, your latest victims, the Vees. They were known for their social influence on the residents of hell, but you didn't really care much since overlords only live in the pride ring and imps usually residents in Imp City in the wrath ring. That, however, doesn't mean you won't travel there and take their shit. You were currently at Vee Tower late at night. Everyone was asleep so you had the perfect chance to do your job and quickly scurry off, or at least that's what you thought, You usually work fast but that doesn’t take into account the time constraint of Vox’s new security system. The moment you touched the vase, a loud alarm rang and a few seconds later, Vox and his tired partners came up to you. 

“What do you think you're doing,” Vox said, his business smile faltering. Shit. You underestimated this guy's inventions. “Oh.. uhhh..” you were at a loss for words. What were you even supposed to say? ‘Hey I was about to steal this vase that you own’? Absolutely not. Luckily for you, they didn't seem to mind as much as you thought they would. Little did you know that every time you had stolen from the Overlords, they had known you were there. Although they didn't exactly appreciate you stealing their belongings, they had taken a bit of a liking towards you. Even when being mischievous little shit, you still had a sort of charm. Like when you were stealing one of Vox's newest prototypes and spent 10 whole minutes trying to figure out what it did before giving up and furiously putting it in the bag. Or that time you stole one of Velvette's dresses and before putting it in the bag you put it on, just for funsies. She had to admit, you didn't look half bad in her designs, maybe when you finally date them, she can ask you to model for her. And the time you tried to steal one of the blankets from one of Val's studios, which surprisingly sell for a lot. You hurriedly put it in the bag, trying to touch it as little as possible, who knows what things people had done in those blankets. They slowly fell for you one by one, maybe next time, they can finally ask you out. Once they give you the world, you finally won't have to steal their things.

The way I had to sit and and actually think about who of the RO's actually have a healthy family dynamic lmao! I mean, it's technically just Valeria and Cassandra but because I don't want to give just the Castellions some love; I'll include Aurelio even though his dad passes just before the story technically starts.

They first meet them:

Cassandra: Alejandro dislikes MC upon first meeting because Cass is his world and nobody in his eyes will ever be good enough for his little girl. Would act extra scary on purpose and while Cass knows he is just putting on a show, MC 100% doesn't see it that way.

Insert meme of: 'Get your dog!' 'He don't bite.' 'YES HE DOES!'

Valeria: Her parents are weary of outsiders like everyone else in the town, they have no issues being polite at first meeting but they warn Valeria not to be too trusting of strangers and exercise caution. Would ask her brothers to keep an eye on MC while they are around Valeria, they love their daughter dearly and think her too naive to be left alone with a stranger.

Aurelio: His father would be sickly at this point and likely bedridden but if Aurelio trusts MC enough to introduce them he would trust his son's opinion and welcome MC with open arms. Making jokes and inviting them to stay for dinner so he could get to know them better.

They start dating their kid:

Cassandra: If MC did not make a good enough impression on him yet, then he openly disapproves. Would see MC as unworthy and would try, in private, to talk is daughter out of it. At the end of the day he would respect her decision, but would be passive aggressive with MC until they win him over.

If MC got on his good side he would begrudgingly agree, MC still has to put in some work to win him over completely but Alejandro would actually try to get closer to MC and invite them on hangouts so he can try to get to know them better and see if they are really a good fit for his daughter.

Valeria: If MC passes the vibe check from her brothers and actually comes over to meet them, then they would be open minded. They would prefer Val be with someone in the village but would not be so close minded to absolutely reject someone who might be open to moving into the village one day. Might have some beef if MC talks about taking Val somewhere far away one day.

Aurelio: His father, who's name is also Aurelio, don't know if I've mentioned that before. Current Aurelio is the Jr, his father is Aurelio senior. But to be entirely honest... Aurelio Sr. knows his son and he would smile and congratulate the two but would honestly not take it seriously because he figures it wouldn't last. His son is the perfect copy of himself, he himself never fell in love again after his childhood love and mother of his son passed many years ago. He would spend majority of his son's development years surrounded by many different 'girlfriends' and being married to his work. He expects his son would be the same, if anything he pities MC for taking the relationship seriously.

They marry them:

Cassandra: If he likes MC he's pretty happy, if MC is a guy then he would see him as the son he never had and would ask him often to go and have father son nights with him. He would low key try to steal a good chunk of MC's time and would tell Cass to share him lol. If MC is a woman then he is happy to have another daughter (He would never call it a marriage though sadly, Alejandro is devout and would see the relationship more as a domestic partnership). In Castellio Gay marriages are not a thing, people can file for domestic partnerships and would publicly be seen as "best friends" even though most people know what it really means. He would never be rude to MC or his daughter about it though, he is happy that you both are happy and would just tell himself it's a very close friendship (read: is in denial and is okay with that). He would refer to MC as his other or adopted daughter when people ask who is MC to Cassandra, and would shut down any hate being thrown towards his daughters. He would also invite MC out with him and Cass to go out on fun trips and activities together.

If he hates MC? Rolls his eyes so much they might fall out of his head, highly disapproves of the union but will accept whatever makes his daughter happy. Expect many sarcastic comments 24/7.

Valeria: Very happy that their little girl is getting married and hopes that MC is forever blind to just how crazy this family is, tries to rush the marriage so MC can't change their mind lol. They would welcome MC as one of their own and would expect them to move into their house or build their own in the village. The only huge beef they would have is again, if MC suggests taking Val away to Sanctuario or something. That would bring a huge issue and there would need to be peace talks.

Aurelio: He would not believe it at first, his son? MARRIED? What manner of witchcraft is at work here? He would be convinced his son is either under a spell or is being blackmailed, after confirming his son is being serious he would honestly still be in disbelief for a while. Once it all sinks in, he would cry tears of joy. He never thought his son could find someone who would accept all of him with all his flaws and still want to stick around. He is so happy his son has finally found his person and is so happy he got to be alive long enough to see it... even though in reality that sadly never got to be. 😭

At first he literally didn't know what to do with a kid. Kids were never his thing. He exploited people for a living — how was he going to handle a kid?

He figured it out after some trial and error of separating work from his personal life.

He stopped working as much, his child becoming slightly more important than the porn industries monthly revenue.

Val's kid was the complete opposite of him and their cousin, Vox's daughter.

While Vox's daughter had a decent helping of her father's personality, Valentino's child was quieter, more observant.

They loved their auntie Vel too, enjoying watching her bark orders at everyone.

They take more after their mother as well, a fact that doesn't go unnoticed, although it's moreso in personality than looks. Introverted. Shy. Observant.

Valentino sometimes found himself standing toe to toe with this small child who only stared at him with all the innocence a child in Hell could have.

Val wasn't the baking type, so while Vox and his daughter baked together, Val showed his child how to bedazzle their own toy gun. And they just accepted it, wanting to spend as much time with their dad as possible.

He had been entirely unsure about the whole dad thing, but he knew one thing for certain: Nobody was going to lay a finger on his child. Anyone who tried would be dealt with, effective immediately.

Val's child, while highly introverted, tended to drift towards their cousin. The two of them became something of a united force in the toddler world of Hell. Partners in crime, if you will.

Vox's daughter is truly a terrible influence already, and they're just toddlers. Val's child keeps watch while Vox's daughter enacts whatever plan she can, to reach the cookie jar on the counter.

Val spoils the hell out of his child, no questions asked. He forces Vox out on shopping trips so they can buy stuff for their individual children.

"Voxy ~, isn't this one cute?" Val held up a black shirt that had tiny red pentagrams all over it.

And Vox just nods and hums, knowing Val's child has two identical shirts in different colors already. . . Valentino couldn't see worth a fuck, but he was trying.

Val documents every moment of his child's life. They tried a new food? Here's forty pictures that were taken in a span of two seconds.

They said their first cuss word? Documented. Posted on Sinstagram with a shockingly father-like caption.

Valentino isn't a perfect father by any means. He makes mistakes, far more than Vox does, but he's trying, and that's what counts.

He wants to protect his child from the world because he knows what it's like out there. Hell, he's a very small part of the reason why it is the way it is. . . And he wants better for his child.

The only room in the starlight I didn't get to feature was the morgue- located directly behind the basement pool room. I was flying around in TAB mode and I jumpscared the hell out of myself when this townie was tending this 'bar' alone in this room like the blair witch project.

OFF TOPIC: In that same vein, whenever I want to have a 'meeting' with my sims, I place a tiny TOOL'ed down TV behind the speaker's head and have them all watch it.

I posed out a face for Val but the height slider was contorting it in a way i hated so I just said fuck it. When I unpaused he made the best in game face immediately after and I'm obsessed with it. It was perfect and he got a gold star for that. Sometimes the sims surprises me.

The elevator on the top floor of the Starlight is only 1x2 tiles, so I had to greenscreen in a fake elevator interior, which is why the reflections don't match up 😂

I actually shot the whole elevator scene in a floating copy in the basement.

When @doctorsimcraft built Senga's office, she referenced the IRL manager's office at Binion's Casino. The upside down horseshoe above the desk letting you know that this is the place your luck finally runs out.

This fight took me 3 weeks to pose out and get looking decent in game because of the extreme height difference between Henry and Poppy. I still hate it.

I had around 50 effects players running for the final fight. Turns out if you do this and you go into CAS or BB even once your game will become basically non responsive. I quit out and reloaded an upsetting amount of times to get this scene shot.

The Flooded Version of the Vault was shot on a different lot using the pond tool trick and lowering the floor down one platform height to get the illusion of the room being flooded with pool water.

I'm fortunately fine, recovering from a cold ( can you believe that i catched a cold twice on the same month? Damn climate change lol). The worst part of it is over because at least the fever stopped, so I don't feel misserable anymore, only very congested.

First of all, let me remind you that Troy requests are allways open. I keep this special treatment for it on my blog because it's the one thing I write about that I know can't be found easily elsewhere. Since the very first reason why I started writing fic was finding no Troy fics, I never close requests for Troy.

Now is the time when I have to tell you that our minds are working as one, cause I have thought so much about this Idea you sent me before.

Would you believe me if I tell you that I requested this very same thing to another (now sadly deactivated) blog a few months ago? I never got to see it, because the blog deactivated before getting to my request, but the point is we got the same Idea!!

I'm gonna do this as a headcanon list followed by a short fic.

Mycenaean civilization was prior to the invention of books, most of the knowledge was passed trough oral transmission, usually by men, and the writing they did was mostly in clay tablets. So, I'm going to keep the curious dreamer bookworm aspect of Belle adapted in ways that would fit with the period.

-As a start, let's not forget that in Greece he is an invincible warrior and, among the myrmidons in particular, the greatest hero that has ever been.

-He is esentially in the position of Gaston, but without most of his negative traits ( like the anti-intellectualism and chauvinism making him an unlikable dick). Aware of being admired as a paradigm of masculine perfection, he gives the people what they want to see in order to make his legend grow.

-Sure, his arrogance can be insufferable sometimes. The cocky bastard walks in knowing the world worships him, but despite of how badly he enjoys it that's part of his hero acting.

-To a Belle-like girl, he would initially appear like a Gaston given the image that his surface projects. All men wanting to be him, all women wanting to have him, and her looking at the whole thing from afar wondering why.

- Very few close friends and family know him privately ( Patroclus, Eudorus, Odysseus and, of course, his mother). For the rest, he remains a mistery. People adoring him think they know him, but they get to see only what they seek from their celebrity.

-The truth is that he is also a bit of a freak, just no one notices because he is the hero of the place. Achilles may be the most popular guy arround, but he is not a comformist and he loves girls that break the mold. ( canonically in the film, Briseis won him over yelling in a room full of men and cuestioning his morals, remember?)

-Yet, everyone in Phthia is quick to judge you as the great local mistery. Girl in age to find a husband, commented to be the most beautifull maiden in the land, but of undeniable strange ways.

-If you would be found following artists, healers, scribes or travellers, it was never on the hope of finding a husband.

-What you wanted was stories, news and knowledge. In his youth, your father had gone in tons of trade trips and his stories inspired you curiosity for the outside world from an early age. He had educated you by himself through the culture a trader adquires with many years of experience in the profession.

-You had a way with words, and to a sweet look of yours and a kind ask many men were willing to instruct you in whatever topic you would want to know about. Some of the few educated men on the city valued your curiosity and showed themselves genuinely friendly to you and your crave for learning.

-Given that Phthia was famous on the country as a land of warriors, this ocassional bonding with a few intellectuals arround was not enough for you to not be perceived as an outcast. The city lammented behind your back how such beauty was wasted in a weird girl whose fingertips were allways stained of wet clay from all the writing.

-Favorite topic of gossiping on the market, or among the groups of women doing laundry near the river shore, you had became infamous as the small town's rarity. People felt bad for your father, claiming he would end up burdened with a spinster till the end of his days, and attributed the blame to the lack of a feminine presence in the home.

-Everyday their stories grew bigger in their attempt to understand you. Stares would follow you everywhere, expectant for the next strange occurence of yours they would get to witness.

-At some point you began to embrace it and seek to confuse your neighbors on purpose. Whenever they would bring up the unconfortable topic with insidious hypocrite subtility, you would respond cheerfully with some more unapologetical rambling you knew that would bore them so they would leave you be.

-Comments lead Achilles to you, since the ill-famed tales of the scandals your reactions cause are the perfect contrast of his celebrated feats.

-The stories he heard did make you look like weirdo, but he could tell you weren't neccesarily the city's calamity. Just a clever, curious girl wanting to be listened. Patroclus confirmed that assumption admitting when asked that you were the first one showing interest in the verses he had been composing and you both have been sharing poetry ocassionally since then.

-Always keeping his cousin away from it under your expressed request, he even defended you from the unfair accusations whenever he could.

-Achilles is thrilled, and soon starts searching for you because he is very curious about meeting you.

-The noises of a crowded market in the morning don't warn you of his arrival like the merry sounds of girls softening the tone of their voices saluting his name in hopes of being noticed.

-Thinking he would stop there, you ignore that and continue your walk, but a strange panic takes over you when you notice he didn't.

-What could he possibly want from you? Was it perhaps because you were the only young girl who wasn't abandoning her daily duties to mindlessly stare at him passing by? His usual admirors were staring daggers at you, unaware that their disbelief was yours too.

-He is not stopping, so you turn back to confront him first and within the very first face to face encounter he is already giving you THAT smile.

-Not the cocky one of when he is about to repeat for a hundred time the story of one of his victories. The softer, more welcoming one.

He knew exactly what you were trying to do: extending your explanation in a convulsive language hoping he would get bored and leave.

" I like how you speak, I think I could sit at some quiet spot on the beach to hear you talk all day."

The flirting was becoming more obvious, but you trusted in your capacity to politely get rid of him.

" And what could we possibly talk about, may I ask? At risk of hurting your infamous pride, I must say battle stories don't interest me that much."

Being underestimated hurted his pride, but he understood that to get your attention he would have to leave it behind.

" How about history, art, religion, medicine, poetry, music? I play lyre, but I rarely do it in public. What's your favorite instrument? "

The crushing subversion of your expectations made you feel very ashamed. It's not like you actively wanted to misjudge him, but the arrogant man parading across the city that was his typical public self usually left little space for imagination.

" Actually, I have never been taught how to play any. "

Achilles tucked a golden stand of his hair behind his ear like if he would be seeking for an even better visual range to glance at you.

" We can fix that, If you want. "

Exquisitely polite, and you couldn't believe your ears.

" I would love to! ... But I insist in repaying the lessons teaching you something else in exchange. "

He suspected that the mere sight of excitement in your beautifull face as you would explain deep into a topic that interested you would be more than enough payment for whatever he could show you.

" Polymele once described in horror to me what you told her about the strange mortuary rituals of the egyptians. I suspect she didn't transmitted it with accuracy, because you lost her in the evisceration part. "

You chuckled, facing your guilt.

" Do you really want me to describe it again for you?"

In a subtle move seeking proximity, he offered to pick the small basket you carried to see if you would be receptive of his company.

" Why not? Do you sincerely think it could gross me? Or that I could care for the loosing of your lady-like ways? You natural self seems way more interesting that whatever facade the people reclaims you to try fitting in. "

It made you smile and, to his surprise, you took his free hand in clear acceptance for the proposition.

Becoming the envy of every girl for being seen with him didn't matter to you at all, because you couldn't deviate at any moment your focus from the excellent conversation you were having.

Achilles was full of surprises and he made you crave to keep discovering more.

Val's SBCF Recs #2 - Lapis Blue by Barbara Mazzi

Barbara Mazzi does it again....! Her comic "Hourglass" from SBCF 2022 is still one of my absolute favs. Needless to say I was very excited to read her comic for this year's fair, Lapis Blue.

I've read Lapis Blue a couple of times today, and on my third reread it made me cry (positive, lol). This depiction of a character who is so lonely, and so completely unable to connect with the people around her feels incredibly, nakedly real in a way I don't see often (at least not this honestly). It's tough to write characters like this. Aina's dialogue is intentionally awkward but still so carefully crafted to punch you in the gut as hard as possible.

I could also gush about Mazzi's art forever. It's so hard to resist saying things like "I wish I could draw like this" -- but God!! It's so true! The confident shapes and buttery inks + tones are to die for. I love seeing an artist make choices I would never even think to make, but wish I had. The amount of color language Mazzi creates through such a limited palette is amazing. Also -- when you pick up this comic you should really pay attention to how Mazzi shades hair (especially the reflection's). So glossy. A thousand chef's kisses.

Aw! We love domestic shit!

Vox is always the middle, who is on his right depends on who won the competition the night before. They always have a blanket but they end up using Val's wings as the blanket more often than not.

Valentino is the early riser actually, but he hates it. He'll just snuggle back into the other two and try to fall back asleep but he always fails. Once Velvette wakes up he'll accept defeat and slip out of bed with her.

Velvette has the messiest hair (given the fact she's the only one with hair really). Her and Valentino will head straight for the bathroom to get themselves together. She'll do a first pass through her hair with the brush while Valentino tames his neck and wing floof and runs a quick brush through his antenna. After which she'll sit down and Val will do her hair in whatever style he decides for the day, she almost always loves it, if she doesn't he'll just do something else.

The two of them will move to the kitchen, leaving the sleeping prince to have the bed to himself. Velvette will play music on her phone and they'll both work on making breakfast (which is the only shit they can cook) bobbing their heads or dancing to the music off Velvette's phone while they cook.

Vox will usually wake up once the smell of bacon hits him, heading to the bathroom to get ready for the day which starts with cleaning off his screen. After he's done getting ready he will get dressed and head to the kitchen where breakfast is usually almost done or just finished (he does have perfect timing lol)

Sometimes he'll pause in the doorway to watch the other two move about in the kitchen, sometimes taking pictures or videos if they're dancing together.

They'll always eat breakfast together and then one by one they leave to start their days.

Vox is always the last to leave, once the other two are gone he'll clean up the kitchen, putting the dishes away and starting the dishwasher before he leaves to start his work day.

one of the things that i love about this story was that there is no true “villain” or “hero”. you illustrated that human beings are complex creatures and we’re all just figuring it out one day at a time. no one has everything figured out. sometimes when things get low, they get very low and a breaking point can feel like the end. however, you proved that what may feel like the end does not mean that it IS the end. help can be found in friends, family, and music which is so inspiring.

nothing is black or white. once everyone realizes that. i think life will feel a bit easier. all we need in this life is community & to feel like we are being heard & seen.

Omg, I just wanted to say I ADORE your characterization of Al and Vox! I don't even have the words to express how much I love reading your stuff, especially the Anon responses you post on here. The behind the scenes thoughts are literally my food, lifesource, its so good when people not only write characters IN CHARACTER, but also include stuff about their analysis/understanding of the character too.. I'm literally obsessed with breaking down characters and yk, cracking their chrome domes open to see how they work (which admittedly, I am not the best at <_< but I love reading them). Just wanted to say how much I love your writing. I had maybe 2 questions, please don't feel pressured to answer them :>

What in your mind (in reference to the 66.6 fics) would motivate Alastor to let Val get close to him in the first place? Or was that more you picking these two characters up by the scruff of their necks and plopping them into a hypothetical scenario to explore their character and write some fun intimate thingsTM?

What do you think of the dynamic of Vox and Al vs something like Lucifer and Al? Personally I've noticed that something Alastor craves, behind the mask of his static smiling persona, is attention. He's (at least how I saw it) usually peeved when people don't care about his absence, and seems especially bothered by the King of Hell refusing to really acknowledge him, so he goes out of his way to push Lucifers buttons (like calling himself a father figure to Charlie, IN FRONT OF HER ACTUAL FATHER LOL) whereas with Vox, Vox is literally CONSTANTLY thinking about Alastor. Man literally interrupted his regular TV program to do a segment about how much he totally didn't at ALL care about Alastors dissapearance or the fact that he returned (suree buddy). So Alastor can have more fun with him and annoy him by ignoring and messing with him on purpose.

As for your questions:

1. I'm assuming that was a typo and that you mean Vox (but in case you did mean Val: that was just a funny accident of him walking by the room! Alastor wasn't paying enough attention until it was too late), and to that I say:

I think Alastor allows Vox to take a go at him in canon because he finds Vox's obsession with him to be entertaining, but also because Alastor is kind of a narcissist and that same obsession massively feeds his ego, especially in a political climate that otherwise forgot about Alastor. Vox's whole "Who gives a shit about Alastor coming back?! Haha, now let me have a public meltdown and short out power to the whole city about it! Oh, fuck, why is he back, though?? Can we send a spy in to find out??" is exactly the reaction that Alastor wants every time he mentions his mysterious absence and gets brushed off.

At the same time, Alastor doesn't seem to register Vox as a sincere and genuine threat. He's a big enough fish in the Pride Ring pond that his obsession with Alastor is gratifying, but Alastor's self-absorption also doesn't really allow him to treat Vox as a threat tier above "annoying in a funny way, and also television is stupid." (Perhaps this will change in season 2... :eyes: (or perhaps Alastor will get Even Worse) (please god let him get even worse))

So those two things in combination make Vox the perfect candidate for Alastor to experiment with while maintaining his ego and not feeling particularly threatened. Despite Vox's Safeword 101 talk, Alastor would never put stock into that system with Vox unless he was certain that he himself would be able to back up a 'no' with overwhelming force. Him even considering safewords in the Live On Air! series is less for his own sake and more a politesse he offers on Vox's request to warn Vox to slow the fuck down before Alastor tries to put his insides on the outside.

2. And in direct contrast, we have Lucifer...

... Who Alastor obviously actually cares quite a bit about, because he's a whole nother power tier from both Vox and Alastor, and furthermore and possibly even more importantly, a credible threat to Alastor's relationships and standing in the hotel. I think a lot of discussion I see about Alastor prodding Lucifer seems to talk about how quickly he got annoyed about Lucifer's comments, but that misses the fact that he was pissed off before Lucifer even showed up. He got pissy the moment he saw the welcome sign, actually! And I wager that he was narratively absent for the scene where Charlie actually calls Lucifer because he would have done his best to manipulate her out of doing so had be been there.

And given that the two clearly haven't met before (though obviously Alastor knows of Lucifer - and hates that the inverse isn't true, hah), it's not 100% clear exactly why he's immediately so annoyed, but in my personal view of things and barring something like "he's projecting onto Lucifer because his contract is with Lilith," I think that what we know of Alastor's personality points most strongly to "he liked being the hotel's benefactor and sees it as His Project, and doesn't like the idea that Charlie called daddy for something that she thought mysterious, powerful Alastor couldn't handle." He distracts a lot with obviously-goading comments about practically being Charlie's dad in his duet with Lucifer, but underneath that he puts a lot of emphasis on the work he's done for the hotel and the fact that he's been supporting Charlie and the hotel from the start, so why the fuck is this deadbeat asshole suddenly turning up?!

Tl;dr: Charlie missed her insight roll on Alastor's personal investments and he's sooooo offended - and taking it out on Lucifer!

I think one of my favorite things about both Lucifer and Alastor is that they both sooo obviously belong in the Pride Ring, hahaha.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like Thunderbolts* was actually a C. It was average. Like a 7.5, realistically. Brave New World was a solid B, and this was no Brave New World.

And, look, it wasn’t bad, hence the C, but it was just kinda… meh.

Listen, at one point I went to the restroom and I could hear Sinners playing through the walls, and I had a moment where I really wished I’d just gone to see Sinners for a third time instead of seeing Thunderbolts*.

I’m trying to be fair, but parts of the script, especially towards the end, were so lazy that it was mind blowing.

Yelena was the best part, by a mile, and the only one written with a significant amount of depth. They barely bothered with Ava… and I could go on about my theory as to why that is, but I’ll spare you for now lol. And killing Antonia like that came off like the nastiest type of fan service.

John is written the same, but more. The serum is clearly exacerbating his inherent personality defects. He’s still quick to anger and aggression, and maintains his general anti-social personality. At times, you can tell that he (and Alexei) are supposed to be coming off as funny to the audience, but those moments went over like a lead balloon. They’re both more annoying than anything, which is at least consistent with how they’ve previously been portrayed.

Val is a good villain, in the way that I couldn’t stand her lol. Actually she’s almost a perfect representation of the MCU fandom. All of her talk of earth being unprotected because there aren’t any heroes or any Avengers, when she clearly knows that there are plenty of heroes still kicking around protecting people, is very reminiscent of how the fandom acts. She knows there are heroes, but they aren’t the types of heroes she wants to see - a (blonde) classic - so she’s carrying on as if they don’t exist. Her characterization was a little on the nose tbh, but the writing is so lazy for good chunks of the movie that I’m not even confident it was on purpose lol.

Bob was fine… the effects when he was Sentry were not lol. I can tell that he’s gonna go triple platinum with this fandom though. He’s just the type of white boy y’all love to overhype 😂

The last few minutes where Val “tricks” them into becoming The New Avengers is so unbelievably stupid, that I wonder who approved it. “We own you now.” Ummm… what? Please be serious lmaooo. Why would Yelena say that? Instead of showing Val that they “own her,” all they’re doing is showing her that she can do anything and never be held accountable. Any one of them could’ve leaned into the mic and simply said, “actually, no, we’re kind of the Thunderbolts,” and then started explaining what happened and listing her crimes. They could’ve guaranteed she’d be successfully impeached, which is what Bucky initially wanted. They could’ve made sure she paid for trying to have them killed, which is what the rest of them originally wanted. And they still could’ve continued on as a team afterwards if they were so inclined. But instead they just go along with her plan, and continue to go along with it for the next 14 months? Why? And why are so many of you acting like they had no choice???? They could’ve nipped that in the bud immediately at that press conference, and it’s incredibly strange that so many of you are pretending that wasn’t an option.

I’ve already discussed the PCS, but I’ll just say: it was eye-roll inducing, for a couple of reasons.

Anyway, yeah, the movie was alright. It was certainly nothing to write home about, and it wasn’t even close to being the best MCU project since Endgame. Umm… it was better than Eternals though, if that helps 🤷🏾‍♀️

can i just fucking say that the "poison" scene was just fucking flawless to me. as a survivor of rape and psychological abuse it was so fucking hard to watch and hit on every note i wanted it to. the suicidal ideation, the self destruction, the pain, the torment, the addiction, the hopelessness, everything.

also it's a little funny how easily i called it when the pilot came out that angel was gonna have ptsd and cope with it through hypersexuality . like this was obvious from the start to me and they do telegraph / foreshadow it from the first episode pretty well in my opinion. like ALMOST too much. but at the same time i'm kind of glad. like that's what i like about the show is that it *is* so raw and over the top when it talks about this kind of thing. that's why i like campy edgy uncomfortable shit bc where the fuck else am i gonna hear anyone specifically hit the perfect sweet spot of just exploitative-feeling enough to feel palpably uncomfortable in a way that just like. perfectly conveys this message. in my opinion, obviously.

it's like so crazy to me that i had this exact high expectation for the show and adjusted for edginess and got exactly what i wanted and then some. like. god. they hit every note in succession all at once and then tied it off with a beautiful, nuanced but genuinely well paced and well thought out resolution.

"loser, baby" was so fucking perfect as the counterpoint to "poison" in this episode. also charlie coming in and being purehearted but not knowing what she's doing and making it worse. but angel ultimately understanding that she meant to help and it's not her that's the problem obviously. and then husk is ultimately the one to give a shit about angel (with some encouragement, which like i honestly appreciate that he doesn't take angel's bullshit and isn't just the like Token Black Savior who has no character or agency of his own [of course i'm white so don't take me as the authority on this issue but i'm certainly aware of it]) and like not only try to stop him from self destructing but like relate his experience and make him admit he has a fucking problem. sooooo much of abuse is built on making the victim think they're at fault for what they're going through. the way val makes him look in the mirror and say "yes" outloud to himself over and over while literally holding his head and threatening him was such a good way of driving that home. and then we see angel have so much pride poked at so easily when he's called fake because he's SO aware he's putting on an act. he lets himself be exploited because he thinks it gives him a sense of control. can't be called fake if i'm an actor. can't prove i'm ever real. never have to BE real. never have to admit that anything is wrong and come to terms with it.

and so husk comes right the fuck out and says it. you're a loser. you're washed up. you're a has been. you're self destructive. you hurt everyone around you. ..... and you're not alone. THAT'S the important part. that's the real thing that gets you out of abuse. people. not being alone. like not just KNOWING that THEORETICALLY you're not alone but actually having people show up and help you and put in the work and relate to you and listen to you and let you listen to them. that's why abusers chronically work to isolate people. because it's so much easier to exploit someone who has absolutely no support system. who only answers to them. who has no one to turn to if shit goes sour.

ok also the fucking hypersexual self harm? i have NEVER seen that portrayed so accurately and so explicitly before. i feel like basically every single time i see it talked about at ALL in media it's either 1) portrayed as like sexy or ultimately good 2) strays totally the opposite direction and is talking more about cycle of abuse shit (which yes that's also important but not what i'm after) 3) really just hinted at / i have to like extrapolate it from vague hints or 4) exists in shitty media that is not ultimately trying to tell a story about escaping abuse it's just talking about a tragic waif and trying to make you feel sad. which is just another kind of exploitation really. so it was very refreshing to see it made very clear that angel was going around *trying* to get drugraped (which is NOOOOOT the same as consent. but i'm not going to get into that) because he was trying to hurt himself. he knew it wasn't good for him and he sought it out anyway. he could have wound up dead and he did not care. that's how low his self esteem is. that's how little he thinks of himself. that's how absolutely terminal his suicidal ideation is. i like used the word 'passive' at first but no i would not call that passive he is clearly actively suicidal hsuidguhds (ftr passive suicidal ideation is like. 'i wish i could go to sleep and not wake up.' but not actually acting on it. active is when you start purposely not looking both ways when you cross the street. that's basically what angel was doing)

anyway yeah. ep4 was kind of the peak for me i'm ngl HUIDGHIS obviously i'm very excited to see where things are going in general but especially more huskerdust........ i would like live if they didn't actually end up together but it feels clear to me that they genuinely care about each other and at least angel does seem to have... romantic-leaning feelings for him. would be cool if they had some scene where husk is like just cuz i care about you doesn't mean i'm going to be your magic saviour through love or whatever. bc i feel like it would be so easy for angel to immediately want and/or expect that. i did personally coming out of my abuse where i was absolutely desperate for real actual non-abusive love of any kind but i was NOT remotely healthy enough to truly accept it then even if it had actually been handed to me and i wound up in something that was..... better, yes, but ultimately still toxic and not completely ideal. not abusive, no, just not like. healthy. lol. but i do have good healthy happy love now so i'm glad lol <3 but like anyway this is a common thing with abuse survivors and it would *make sense* to see it but like i wouldn't put it past them to just go straight into "and then angel got better immediately and they got together and everyone lived happily ever after the end" HSDUIGSHUID but like idk man. we'll see LOL

also i did want to comment on like...... the fact that the scene was worked on by someone with a legit rape fetish who was like straight up into angel/val as a ship and thought it was like cool and fun or whatever. like. i really don't think the scene itself came off as glorifying rape or abuse. it's blatantly obvious that it's not good and the emphasis is placed entirely on angel's pain. and like it's. it's not porn. it's evocative. it's explicit. but the purpose of the scene is not "look at this hot sexy sex" it's "look at this horrifying abuse". like yes obviously there are gonna be people who get off on it but people can get off on anything if they try hard enough. porn is art explicitly meant for jacking off. not everything about sex is porn. i think if you interpret it as glorifying sex you're honestly out of your goddamn mind. the song ends with angel talking about how he wants to fucking die because of it. is that glorification to you?? really???

ultimately, *I* think it's good. i think, objectively, the team did an extremely good job. give them an award or something. i swear. where's the oscar. my boy angel needs his oscar LOL

... one last note, because this is tumblr: this is very triggering material. probably it should've had a better warning of some kind. but it is telegraphed/foreshadowed like i said and the show is rated 16+ on amazon (i feel like it should be 18+ imo but it's like. it's repeatedly listed as being for adults/"R rated" in promo material at least) and sex and violence are listed right there at the top of each episode where it shows the rating so like. idk man. that's as much warning as is usually given for this kind of thing ngl. i absolutely am not saying it's not triggering. but it is important to portray triggering things. it is important to talk about these things to give people in these situations someone to relate to and to give them the language to understand how to escape abuse, first of all, and like also art in general *should* be challenging. i think they genuinely said important, unique things and said them well. they did wayyyy better than i thought they would. for real. like esp coming from viv knowing her past like. clearly someone in the room actually knew what they were doing lmao (one of the writers for hazbin also worked on the episodes in helluva that covered similar abuse recovery material so. you know)
