Don't be fooled, just because he can be silly doesn't mean he doesn't take this relationship seriously. Sincere and committed, will do what he needs to make you and him work. A girlfriend privilege, or chore if you're being honest, is constantly shaving his head. If he pisses you off? Shave a stripe down the middle and hide the razor.

Jason Yoon

Self professed as not that great with words, and can be a little standoffish but worships the ground you walk on. Loyal to a fault, and waits on you hand and foot. He's not the most physically affectionate but anticipates your every need, doing things for you before you even realise you wanted them. Self-sacrificing with Big Deal and as your boyfriend. Make sure his needs are taken care of, he deserves it!

Lineman

Listen, this guy bullshits a lot. He's full of bravado and confidence but he is surprisingly earnest when it comes to you. Everything may be exaggerated and said flippantly, but Lineman does think you're the most beautiful, the smartest, the absolute best. No competition. Completely fearless with anything you throw at him. Whether that's something adventurous in the bedroom or a life plan 10 years in the future.

Jerry Kwon

If he is Jake's sword, then he is your shield. Most of the time he barely needs to do anything, just being with him makes sure thugs and troublemakers will stay away. Nevertheless, protects you from danger and cuddling with Jerry will melt all your stress away. Loves you as much as he respects Jake. Which is a whole frickin' lot. Probably more than you would ever know. A big teddy bear, and can be shy - needing you to make the first moves or read his moods.

Jake Kim

You've done it. You've reached the peak. Maximum good times, minimum mental breakdowns. He is stable, a great caregiver and maybe the funniest person you will ever meet, or at least he likes to think so. Does tend to prioritise Big Deal over your relationship and being his girlfriend. You need to be very understanding. Shame he spends a lot of time away from you dealing with the crew but he more than makes up for it with kisses and cuddles and attention (where he can spare it).

Sinu Han

Who do you think taught Jake how to respect women? Gapryong? Nah. It's this girlboss. Didn't used to have much time nor money as Big Deal boss. Now at least he has lots of time and will make sure you are top prority. Literally got yourself a whole househusband. He has nothing better to do than look after you. When you're apart, loves making and sending little videos of himself to you to cheer you up. And it's not hard once you see his beaming bright smile.

Daniel Park

Very sweet, Zack might have stole his first kiss but he wants you to be the first for everything else! His obliviousness to all the girls hitting on him would piss you off though. Once you've spoken to him and he realises, he'll apologise profusely and makes sure it's very clear that he's taken. "Yes, I've got a girlfriend. Yes, I'm very happy. Please I'm not interested!" Very easy for you to make him blush. He might have heard a lot of flattery, but just tell him how cute he looks today and he will flush bright red.

Jay Hong

Are you ready to be spoiled? Have all your whims fulfilled? This man will literally go to the moon and back for you, and he could pay for it to. Loves spoiling you, shopping with you is one of his favourite pastimes but enjoys spending time with you even if it's chilling with the pups. Writes you little messages and notes for you to find throughout the day. Very sentimental and keeps a memento of pretty much everything. Apart from having cash for days, other major girlfriend privileges include seeing his eyes and riding around on his motorbike. Which is pretty sexy, not gonna lie.

Vasco Tabasco

This cinnamon roll!! What else is there to say about him! He's innocent and naive and doesn't really know how to be the best boyfriend but he's so eager to learn and to make you happy. Make a big deal out of every milestone and anniversary. Looks forward to big occasions like meeting the parents until the actual day comes and he almost passes out from nervousness. Being with the head of Burn Knuckles means you've automatically adopted the rest of the gang too. Watch out for your sanity.

Jace Park

Goes a bit too hard on the romance front, but unfortunately picked most of it up from kdrama or romance novels. Imagine his surprise when after your first fight you actually did want space and wasn't pleased when he turned up on your doorstep. Kind hearted and good intentioned. He's dotes on you and a great listener. Insufferable to the rest of Burn Knuckles as he won't shut up about you. Once he's with you, he is WITH you. He may be 'married to Burn Knuckles', but in a relationship, you two are as good as married. And yes, he is the best househusband. Obviously.

Zack Lee

BIG softie. Clingy, a little obsessive but He. Loves. You. We've seen how he is with Mira. Being in a reciprocal relationship with someone would turn that up to ELEVEN. He will always always try his best, and gets a little insecure and sad if he lets you down but to you it doesn't matter. Seeing his effort is enough and you make sure to let him know. Will walk to the ends of the earth for you, you barely even have to ask. Also will deny he's a simp to everyone as they look on at him incredulously. Seriously? It's the most obvious frigging thing!

Vin Jin

Oh my god this guy. He will play his music for you at ANY opportunity. It's a good job you love him, otherwise you would need to jam some chopsticks in your ears. You can't help but be charmed though seeing him doing what he loves, so you take up the role as his number 1 fan. Plays it cool but he is very clingy. Probably text you with 'wyd' and if you don't respond in the next 10 mins, expect a barrage of messages. And if you're busy and haven't seen him for a day or 2? He's on your doorstep: "Here I got you a gift. Me."

Gun Park

He's a surprisingly good partner. He doesn't like wasting time and least of all his own so he knows already you're a good fit with him. The fact that he agreed to be your partner means that he already holds you in exceptionally high regard and cares about you a great deal. Still a walking red flag though. Especially cold and callous when he's had a bad day or you ask him about something he doesn't want to answer. You can go hours or even days not talking after your fights until he finally asks if you can hear him out. He's not stupid. He knows the way he reacts isn't how you should treat a partner and promises to keep working on it

Goo Kim

A rollercoaster ride of a boyfriend. In an established relationship, he can be exceptionally clingy. You better be patient and on the same wavelength as him or you're going to have a bad time. Your nights together can flit from watching anime to light arson in the blink of an eye. At least you can't say he's boring. Soft in his own way for you, and spoils you with your demands and requests, and his money! Really does let you get away with a little too much.

Johan Seong

He was shocked when he realised he cared more about you than Eden and Miro. You were too, you know what they mean to him... And now what you mean to him too. A little feral and not the best at expressing himself but if you have the patience to support him then he'll have the patience to try. Do not offer to share food with this man. Not a bite, no snacks, nothing. He would take advantage. The definition of give him an inch and he'll take a mile. Leave your plate unattended, and the food will be gone the moment you're back. Eden and Miro will get the blame.

Eli Jang

Hope you're ready for 2 cuties in your life because Eli and Yenna are a package deal. Eli never thought he would get the fairytale happy family but with you it's actually happening. He loves planning family dates and seeing you and Yenna together. He's already carved out a future for you and him otherwise he wouldn't encourage you and Yenna to bond.

Absolutely adores telling you he loves you. With you the words flow, and so do the compliments. In his quieter moments, you catch him staring at you a lot until hegrabs your hand and gives you three squeezes instead. I. Love. You. Privately, renames himself from 'Gangdong's Mighty Warren Chae' to 'Y/N's Mighty Warren Chae'. Super silly, but it makes you giggle everytime. He means it though. Will look after you any way he can.

Keeps you out of the spotlight. Please don't be insecure, it's not that he doesn't want to be seen with you - he's just protecting you from public scrutiny and his horde of fans. Generally cool and aloof but with you he can be surprisingly soft and romantic. Truly a k-pop idol capturing the heart of millions. You will become his biggest stan, and he would find that equal parts amusing and endearing. As long you are kept a secret, he will tell the media he has a special someone, someone that really knows him. Makes you and the general public melt everytime he is heard talking about you.

Samuel Seo

Aw Sammy. He just wants some praise and love and you readily offer it to him. Puts up a lot of walls at first before seeing that you don't care who he is or where he's from and love him for him. Definitely one to wait for you to say I love you and fall first before he could reciprocate. He needs to make sure this is real and you are real. Sometimes though, the moment just feels too right for him to keep his feelings to himself... Spends obscene amounts on you to try and impress you. It doesn't. Not really. Ok maybe a little bit.

Xiaolong

One to go to extremes to please the one he loves. Old example: Vivi. Please see updated example: You. There is nothing he will not do for you. Theres a long list of simps in Lookism and he's close to the top of the list. Hes an avid texter but since he likes to follow you everywhere, you wouldn't know. Despite how much of a shit he can be, genuinely respects you and thinks the world of you. Will happily and without hesitation sock anyone that says a bad word about you. Unlike Xiaolong, all in working order downstairs since you met. You have no issues getting him to stand to attention. Have fun!

Eugene

A bit of an absentee boyfriend. He has a lot on his plate. He never regret his position or what he's achieved until you started dating, and now he wishes you could spend more time together. When he's with you though, he's WITH you. You have his full attention. He even turns his phone off. His assistants know that they can't reach him when he's with you. Building burning down? Nope. Don't care.

Jihan Kwak

You thought he was a troublemaker at first. And you would be right. He can run rings around you, teasing and a little mean, the cause of many headaches. All the words are meant with love though. Just look at the way he looks at you as he calls you an idiot. This guy is impossibly soft for you. Make sure you don't let him get away with too much though. As the youngest and spoilt, he can be bratty and a little inconsiderate. He's no fool. Tell him and he will adjust his behaviour.

Jibeom Kwak

There's something so fun about stealing the clothes from your teddy-bear boyfriend. So what if his taste is terrible and ugly as hell. Seeing you in his t-shirt or shorts or even boxers will absolutely break his brain. A little dense, but very trusting - bit like our other cinnamonroll, Vasco. Always well-intentioned, but you may need to be explicit with him. Don't worry, he's a quick learner. Loves you an awful lot and has no problem telling the whole world, even if that means teasing from his brothers.

Hudson Ahn

There's two very people that are at the tippity top of Hudson's list. Taesoo, and you. Your boyfriend is your sun. Quiet and a little stoic, watching you with an intensity and a little smile on his face that takes your breath away. Especially when he's usually cold and reserved with most people, the fact that you can make him look like that just being in your presence? The BEST. Blessed with one of the better asses in Lookism that even Heat Daniel couldn't resist. Always rolls his eyes whenever you grope him, you not being able to resist a quick squeeze even as you walk by, but he could never tell you no.

Long time no see

A/n: don’t worry, I see ya’ll requests and I will be getting to them 😭

Warnings: not proofread, dumb, might be ooc, I wrote this at 1 am so a lot of it might not make sense lmao

˚✧₊⁎ You were a friend among Daniel’s group in Jae won High. But with recent events, you haven’t seen a lot of your friends in a while. And after so long, Daniel comes to visit you to invite you into his gang. But upon meeting you again after so long, he couldn’t recognize you at all… ⁎⁺˳✧༚

You open the door to reveal Daniel, the smaller one. Though he wasn’t all that small anymore and was definitely thinner, and a lot more muscular. Honestly, you wouldn’t have recognized him if Zoe hadn’t shown you photo’s of him.

You smile and wave at him, “Hey, Daniel!” you greeted. He looked taken back and looked at you confused. He then cleared his throat, “hello…is (name) here?” he asked. “huh? im standing right here…” you deadpanned and pointed at yourself.

Finally, it clicked for him, “oh gosh, (name)!? Is that really you!? I almost didn’t recognize you! Your hair is (shorter/longer) and you have a completely new style!” he exclaimed, almost excited. You flip your hair dramatically, “yeah, I look good, right?” you teased. And despite you joking, he nods in agreement, “yeah, you look really good!”

After catching up for a bit, he mentions how you used to be fighter and how he would like you in his team (gang). You said it’d been a while since you fought and that you’d wouldn’t really be that much help, but for some reason Daniel thought otherwise. And with his cute face and nearly begging, you agreed.

And now you stood in front of the rest of the crew members. Most you recognized from school, but there was a certain blonde that you hadn’t recognized.

“Who’s this chick?” Zack questioned, nearly scowling down at you. You almost thought he was looking down at you. It was something he had done before but never did it again after the fact. You smiled up at him, despite his rudeness, with a hint of tease. “What? you don’t recognize me?” you asked him.

It only took the sound of your teasing voice for Zack to know who you were. “(name)!? What the hell, long time no see!” he greeted, throwing an arm over your shoulder. “uh huh,” you simply said, still not letting his past rudeness slide. He then lets you go and sheepishly smiles down at you, “you see (name), about before, you know I wouldn’t have spoken to you the way I did if I had known it was you, right?” nervously rubbed his hands together.

you hummed, “right, well, don’t let it happen again,” you warned, but it was more of a tease than anything. Though, Zack couldn’t tell through his fear, “right right, of course!”

After that you turned to the rest of them, nodding your head, “Vasco, Jay,” you greeted. “Wow, (name). I couldn’t recognize you at all!” Vasco said as he approached you, Jay nodding on agreement. If you were being completely honest, you couldn’t recognize Vasco either. He’d grown buffer, has a beard instead of a mustache, and he cut his hair, plus a few new tattoos. He’s also changed his style into a biker gang type style, along with Jace who you’d only seen recently as well. Jay didn’t change much besides his physique and expensive suits.

And now… you turned to the last person, someone you’ve never seen before. “(Name), this is Hudson. Hudson, (name),” Daniel introduced the two of you, gesturing to each person with his hand. “nice to meet ya!” you smiled. “Yeah…” he responded, keeping his face neutral.

Just then, Zack and Vasco started bantering about who knows what. And when things began to grow my violent, Daniel and Jay had to physically separate them.

Suddenly, Hudson stood next to you and leaned down, “You’ve known them for a long time, right? Were they always like this?” he asked. You nodded, “Yeah, actually I think they were way worse than this,” you nodded as you recalled the memories of all the fights they’d get into with one another.

Though despite not seeing each other for a long time, you were happy to see that not a lot has changed since you last saw them, well, despite their physical and mental improvements, they’re basically the same as they were before. You smiled as you thought to yourself, “it’s good to see everyone like this again. Some things just never change.”

"HOLY SHIT!!"

Johnny hasn't been in the vanguard for more than a few minutes when he hears a shout and has armoured arms wrapped around him.

"STEAMIN JESUS!" He yells. Before he can ask his ghost what the hell is happening, he's turned around by his attacker hugger, and sees a shorter guardian, with their hood still up, wide-eyed and smiling.

"You're here! They woke you up!" The female guardian says excitedly. Johnny smiles.

"Yeah, they did." He says matching her excitement, before dropping it quickly. "...who the 'ell are you?"

The guardian gets a look of realization on her face, slight disappointment mixed in. "Oh... right. Forgot about that."

"Care to explain instead of leavin mae in the dark?" Johnny asks. The female guardian's ghost comes up next to her, looking different than his own. Johnny's own ghost speaks up.

"Some guardians we've learned have been finding memories of their past on their person, like photos and journals. I believe Marco may know you from the past." The ghost explains.

"Spot on actually. She was looking at a photo of you before running up." The other ghost confirms.

"So ya know my real name?" Johnny asks crossing his arms. Why couldn't his past self have a journal or some photos? The guardian, he guessed was Marco, nods. Odd name for a girl, but hey who could he judge.

"Johnny "Soap" MacTavish I believe. I only have a photo with some names and a half filled journal. Still, just finding a small piece is amazing." Marco says, excitement still in her eyes. Man how old was she? Then again, he had only been revived recently so age was probably irrelevant. He wouldn't read too much into that.

"The ell kind of name is Soap?" His ghost asks. Rude.

"Just fer dat, I'm callin ya Soap now." Johnny says. Marco snickers.

"I'll let you head inside the tower, I need to return to my fire team. Oh! When you're done, come find us. They'll want to see you." With a final quick hug, the guardian runs off again excitedly, doing a couple of hops and skips along the way. She was... a character.

Johnny heads into the vanguard tower.

Johnny leaves his small room, stretching and yawning. He needed a nap after the crazy first day. Man was this what it was like to be born? Waking up with no knowledge, and then being thrown into a whole world you're unfamiliar with. Yep, that sounds about right. Not sure if a gunfight, a small companion and fighting some weird aliens was something babies did though. That and having weird magic abilities.

Before he found a room, he ran into Marco again, who understood his desire for rest. Again she insisted on him meeting with her and her fire team afterwards. Johnny asked Soap if there was a way to find Marco, and thankfully he did. The last thing Johnny wanted was to wander around with only his ghost to guide him. Human interaction was a strong desire, well, humanoid. Turns out Marco had left Soap a checkpoint to meet at.

Johnny glances at the other guardians, civilians, and droids roaming around the city. This was all very strange. Something in the back of his mind told him everything wasn't the way it was, but he couldn't recall what it was supposed to be like. Thankfully he spots Marco looking around for him. When she notices him she waves with a friendly smile. Johnny looks at his ghost who just looks back, with no real expectation of a response. He comes over.

Marco smiles and gives him a pat on his back as she leads him through the streets. "How was your nap?"

"Fine. Bloody starvin'." Johnny says.

"My team is getting food right now, so its on us. Hope you like asada."

"Hope so too." Johnny comments. She chuckles, taking him to a small restaurant where there are plenty of guardians sitting at tables and the bar. Johnny felt a little more comfortable, finding the location familiar in a way.

"Come on." Marco says, nudging him forward to follow her. She led him to the bar where he spots two male guardians, with one giving a large grin while the other guardian seemed to be lecturing him.

“Guess who found something rarer than any engram!” Marco says excitedly sitting down with the two guys. They both look at her then over her shoulder to see Johnny. The Titan stands and smiles wide at Johnny.

“Soap? No puedo creerlo. Good to see you.” He says, clasping Johnny on the shoulder. “Alejandro Vargas. This is my second in command Rudolfo Parra.”

The warlock raises a hand in a wave. The two seemed more seasoned than him and Marco.

“Call me Johnny.” Johnny says trying to be friendly.

“Sit, sit.” Alejandro offers. Thank god he was starving. Food was served and they all get to talking. As Johnny starts to finally get his head wrapped around everything, its like a messy ball of yarn. The three guardians talk to him like an old friend, asking him questions about what's been happening so far. Not much to say since he's only been awake for a few days. Still, they listen and give him a chance to explain everything. Any questions he has, Marco pulls out a journal and pen, directing him through creatures, hierarchies, and planets. Johnny finds himself adding to it, as he mentions what he's found in the last few days. Alejandro and Rudolfo provide any corrections. Johnny also gets some food and drink. The colour of his drink makes him uneasy, but Marco offers to try it herself. They end up doing the link arm thing as they sip. Not sure what's in it, but it puts out the heat of the spicy food they get. Johnny has to admit, he feels more comfortable asking these questions with Marco and her team than he thought. He'd never admit it but Ikora was kind of intimidating. Reminded him of someone but couldn't recall.

"So what bout this photo?" He finally asks, after learning about the Iron Age, which was when Alejandro and Rudy were revived. Apparently, Marco woke up much later and found Alejandro and Rudolfo some time after being awake. Details she would tell him more about later.

Marco takes out another journal, this one much older, with aged and cracked leather bindings, and yellowed pages. She flips through until she finds the photo, and takes it out to show him. The two lean in and Johnny finds a photo of himself, Alejandro, Rudolfo, Marco, a man in a skull mask, a guy with darker skin and a cap, and a bearded man with a boonie hat. The photo tells him his story or at least the tip of it. He was alive a very very long time ago. He was a bit more clean-shaven. And he was in the military, seeing military vests and weapons on him. Rudolfo and Alejandro looked younger as did Marco but not by much. Johnny turns the photo over and sees names scribbled on the back, matching up to the people in the photo. There he sees the name Marco gave him. Holding the photo and reading the names it's like recalling characters of a game he's only heard about. Who was he? What did he do? How did he die? Did he die because he was in the military? Did he hurt people? Were the other men revived?

A hand is on his shoulder and another is on the photo. Johnny hadn't noticed his breathing going unsteady, his leg bouncing or his heart racing until Marco settled it.

"Guardian? You okay?" Soap asks. Johnny just nods. Marco carefully tugs the photo out from under Johnny's hand. A glass of water is set down in front of him by a robotic bartender. Johnny waves, gesturing appreciation. Marco keeps her hand on his back making small circles to comfort him. The photo could be overwhelming. It had been for Alejandro and Rudolfo. After a few sips Johnny settles, taking the photo slowly.

"...Yer name is Marco?" He asks, looking at Marco. Not the first question she expected. Marco nods though, a little confused.

"The photo says you have a different name." He points out.

"Aquí vamos." Rudolfo says, taking a long sip of his drink. Alejandro pats Rudy on the shoulder, smiling.

"Shut up." Marco says with a smile before turning back to Johnny. "I think my name is Marco. And there's a few theories I have."

Alejandro and Rudolfo order more food, and chime in as Marco explains her theories about her past life. The first one isn't farfetched. Marco explains she still had dog tags when she was revived, holding them out where the name Marco is engraved. In the photo her name is listed as Paloma "Sunny" Vascoe. The last names are the same so she thinks maybe she was trans or identified as a boy but never had her dog tags changed or the wrong name was written on the photo but not on her tags. Right now though she goes by she/her.

"Could see it." Johnny says considering the idea. Alejandro thinks it's untrue, but isn't about to get into a long discussion about gender and whether it would transfer to reincarnation or revival.

"The second theory is loco." Rudy comments.

"Whats the second?" Johnny asks.

"I have a twin." Marco says.

"It's never twins!" Rudolfo argues. "If you were a twin, then there should be another one of the you walking around by now."

"You don't know that!" Marco retorts.

"So you think you have a twin?" Johnny asks, his tone very clearly siding with Rudolfo. "How would that work if you're female, the photo shows you as a female, and the name you're wearing is masculine?"

Marco gives him a look, trying to think of a counter argument. All she comes up with is, "things happen on the battle field, maybe we switched dog tags for luck."

"Nice try Mija." Alejnadro says patting her on the shoulder.

"So more than likely your real name, is the one on the photo?" Johnny asks.

"I'm just used to Marco now, it's what I was calling myself when I woke up, it's what I've been going by for a while. Sunny says the same, that my real name is likely Paloma." Marco/Paloma admits, gesturing to her Ghost.

"Johnny...sounds weird calling you that." Alejandro says.

"Maybe we just call you Soap instead." Marco comments.

"You need help around, just come find us. We'll be around and will help you with raids and missions if we can." Alejandro offers. Johnny was glad to hear it.

"Help mae with another drink?" Johnny asks.

The rest of the night and into the morning a little the four stay up talking and drinking. There was so much yet to come for them, more than any of them were going to be prepared for.

Johnny with his ghost Soap and Paloma with her ghost Sunny hide away, taking shelter. They were separated, sore, and weak. Their Ghosts are barely able to stay floating, unable to revive them, and the traveller's light cut off... they both think about that night when they all met and many others. All they can do is hope and pray. Hope and pray their friends were still alive. Hope and pray they haven't lost their light.

Something very different from what i usually draw and from my last Vaschete fanart. I love those guys so i really wanted to make more fanart, but i didn't know what to draw exactly.

Here, i tried to paint Machete, Vasco and Smollchete in the style of the character portraits in Disco Elysium. I don't think i quite achieved that effect, but i still liked the end results.

Smollchete is further away from the usual character portraits in DE, but it was on purpose because i wanted to emphasize how he's just a little guy. And the little guy gets smaller and smaller...

In retrospective (because i finished this art a few days ago) Disco Elysium's style of painting doesn't really seem to mix the colors, which i did a lot here, specially on Machete. Also not a lot of gradients like i did on Vasco. They also shade with much more wild and different colors.

I'm going to put all the rest of my madman ramblings below. It's long and your mileage may vary if you played Disco Elysium or not (no spoilers tho.)

Okay, so... As i had the idea of making these disco elysium style portraits but with the gay catholic dogs, i had just beaten Disco Elysium. And so, as i was doing my things in my day to day life, waiting for the opportunity to actually draw them, i kept thinking about skill interactions with the boys, like if your main character talked to them and had enough points in the skill.

Things like Half-light identifying Machete as a brutal and hardened survivor just by looking at his eyes, but Physical Instrument doesn't believe that because Machete looks like just a spindly noodle. And Half-light would be like no bro, trust me, this guy is hardcore.

Shivers or Spirit-de-Corps would tell you how Machete is treated among his fellow bishops and how he's either vilified or seen as a tool. And at that Inland Empire would pipe in saying “He is treasured. But not here.” because yeah we love him. Despite almost everyone in his world hating his guts

Also yeah Reaction Speed clocking Machete as super paranoid. Specially considering maybe in this universe you'd be investigating one of his assassination attempts or maybe even something sinister that Machete had done.

Reaction Speed: “His eyes dart across the room, checking if you have any backup. Then, a twitch of the ear, followed by a sideways glance." Logic: "He is making sure he isn't being flanked.” Inland Empire: “But he's all alone...”

I also feel like Rhetoric would have a field day with Machete. Like, finally, a worthy opponent.

Empathy would get the feeling that despite his reputation, that there is someone else behind Machete's bug eyes, someone other than Machete, the pale eminence. If you have enough points in a skill, it would try to pipe in saying who they think it is, judging Machete (e.g: Authority: "A man superior to you."; Pain Threshold: "It's just sweet pain all the way to the bone."; Half-Light: "A survivor."; Encyclopedia: "The inside lining of the eye is covered by special light-sensing cells that are collectively called the retina. It converts light into electrical impulses. Behind the eye, your optic nerve carries these impulses to the brain. The macula is a small extra-sensitive area in the retina that gives you central vision.") concluding with Drama: "No one he'd want you to know, sire."

That would trigger a dialogue option for an Empathy white check to try and see who's actually behind Machete's eyes and see beyond his reputation and demeanor. I'd imagine you would get a +2 if you talked to Vasco before. And if you pass the check, the screen would go white and Machete's model and portrait would change to Smollchete and you'd be able talk to him for a moment, the little guy, and learn a little bit more about his backstory, stuff that he hides behind the Machete persona. That's why i painted Smollchete too. I don't think Empathy has this same kind of metaphysical effect like others skill in-game, but i thought it would be cool.

Talking to Vasco for the first time would just straight up heal you 1 morale. No skill check necessary. Here, have some free morale.

Your Encyclopedia would recognize his coat of arms and maybe deduce that Vasco is a diplomat or a politician. Then your Composure would tell you straighten your posture and put up your serious face, Suggestion would tell you to flatter him while adressing him strictly formally, but the two of them would be thrown off-kilter as Vasco starts acting very casual and down-to-earth. Maybe Authority would judge his attitude to be unfitting of someone in such position. Idk. This is all random ramblings that were bouncing in my head that i needed to let out.

Hope this isn't too weird, i just had a lot of time between having the idea to draw this and actually sitting down to draw it, so these ideas were just popping up in my head. I wish i could've just put those in the tags, but it waaaay exceeds the tag limit.

After paying, you poured the hot water that was on the counter into both cups of noodles and you rushed out of the store, hoping to catch up with Johan.

Conveniently, he sat on the curb of the parking lot, his two cute pups sitting down next to him. You sighed out, relieved that he didn’t go anywhere.

Now standing directly behind him, you cleared your throat loud enough to catch his attention. His two pups gather at your feet, looking up at you with big eyes, their tails wagging in excitement. But, he doesn’t flinch, instead he slowly turns his head to look back at you. He raises an eyebrow, looking you up and down as if he was confused with your presence, “What the hell do you want?” he nearly grumbled, turning back around.

You frowned down at him, “Well that’s no way to talk to someone who bought you noodles.” He wiped his head back around after hearing that you bought him noodles, and there you were, squatting down behind him and holding out a cup of noodles.

He only squints at the cup, his eyes looking back at you, “Why?” he simply asked. You hummed, “hm, well we’re friends, aren’t we?” you smiled. He looked at you quizzically, “…Do I know you…?”

“Ack-“ you let out a surprised noise. “Is he serious right now?” You questioned yourself. Upon further inspection, he seemed to really not recognize you. You sigh disappointedly, “Just take the noodles…jack-ass…” you mumbled the insult, low enough so it was only incoherent to him. Or so you thought, but he only frowns at you instead of insulting, or worse, socking you.

He takes the cup from your hands, quickly turning around and slurping up the noodles.

You nod your head approvingly. You got the starving man some food and since he doesn’t recognize you, there was not point in sticking around.

Putting one hand on your knee, you push yourself up out of your squatting position, “Well, my work here is done. See ya, Johan.”

He stared as you walked away, and once you were a safe distance away, he mumbled, “see ya, (name)…”

WIP Wednesday

@bearlytolerant reminded my it was Wednesday (or more like was going to be Wednesday soon for me but same difference) and so I'm going to take care of this now:) I'm also tagging loosely by saying if you see this and you have a WIP you want to share, tag you're it.

my chunk is from Ranger and the Deputy and the second arc, which focuses on the mission to find Barrett, Heller, and Lin. This chunk comes with a tw: death for a side character. Will throw the chunk under a cut

He could see Kitty already moving for the crash, her suppressed Rattler in hand. He hurried after her while Jazz made her way to the Frontier, calling out to Vasco about the busted radio. Del pinged Kitty’s suit and waited for the line to open.

“I don’t know what happened to the radio, I couldn’t understand a word you were saying,” she said, her voice bouncing with her foot falls, “Vasco picked up a distress signal from this ship as soon as we got in orbit. He said it was set after the crash and had a hidden message in it from Barrett.”

“Jazz is going to look at the radio, I’m just glad you got here in one piece,” Del finally caught up to her, “that’s a clever set up Vasco discovered.”

“Be better if it wasn’t attached to a crashed ship,” Kitty skid to a stop with a gasp. He looked out in front of them and saw a body hunched over in a dingy white spacesuit with orange panels. There was no movement from the body. Kitty dropped her pistol and broke into a sprint, “No! Heller!”

Delgado ran after her, hoping his eyes were wrong. Suits were bulky after all, they didn’t move with people’s breath like street clothes. He could just be hurt, they could rush him to Akila City, Dr. Cartwright would get him patched up.

Kitty knelt next to Heller and leaned down, checking his suit systems. Through the open channel she was panicking, “no, no, no, no, no…”

Del joined her and looked over her shoulder. All systems were offline. Heller’s skin was blue with a gray overcast, eyes closed, deep bruising around the sockets. His lips were purple. His body was completely limp and slumped over onto the ground when she went to sit him up. Kitty sobbed, gasping for breath. Del reached out to her and drew her close, panic knotting his stomach. He was not equipped to handle a breakdown in the best of times and these were definitely not the best of times.

Kitty’s sobs fell away with a firm sniff and then a sudden stillness fell over her. Her words, when she finally spoke, were ice cold, “where is everyone else?”

“That’s a good question, deputy,” Del decided to keep things professional, “we should look for clues. A slate or notes, anything to point us in a direction.”

“Should we try inside the ship?” Kitty was arranging Heller’s body so he laid comfortably on the ground. As she lifted his right hand a slate fell to the ground. She scooped it up quickly, “or maybe…” She pressed play:

Unknown Voice: You’ve given the Fleet a lot of trouble, Barrett.

Del knew that voice. That was Matsura, a Fleet captain he thought he had control of, one of his only inside lines to the Crimson Fleet. Matsura shouldn’t have been in the Narion system at all. He realized that's where he knew Brogan’s name from: Brogan was one of Matsura’s lieutenants.

Barrett: Hey, since when is surviving being attacked ‘causing trouble’? Hey, pilot, could you move your arm a little bit to the left? I can’t make out the console.

Matsura: Don’t move! He’s trying to figure out our destination! Probably transmitting this conversation right now while we’re still in orbit.

Don’t sound so excited, Matsura, Del thought. He knew that was part of the bastard’s plan.

Barrett: Well, yeah. Thought I was making that pretty obvious. Okay, okay. Put the gun down. I’m done, see? My retinas are pointing away from the console and towards this lovely view of space we have out the window.

Matsura: Tie him up. Once we get back to the base, the fun starts…

“It’s all just a game to him,” Kitty said flatly. She was looking through the meta data on the transmission again, “Bessel III.”

“That’s where Matsura’s base of operations is,” Del said.

“What?” Kitty turned around, her eyes burning with rage, “you know the asshole who did this?”

“He’s not supposed to be in this system!”

“How many more are there?” she was shaking, her face turning red.

“It’s a part of the job!” he shouted defensively, “you find the ones willing to play ball and cut deals for information. He was supposed to be staying out of Freestar systems and in exchange I didn’t raze his fucking base to the ground. He broke that deal so now we’re going to wipe his shitty home off the fucking map.”

Mike Patton speaking italian: birthday edition

So today is Mike's birthday and I'll celebrate with some quick translation.

Paloma 'Sunny' Vascoe

Part 1. Part 2. This is part 3

Alejandro had requested information from her, via text to a burner phone she kept in the shoe box. Once she had gotten her bag, it had been the first thing she checked. All she sent back was a message asking for some time. The usual spot she’d gone to for the exchanges was clearly unsafe, not to mention some distance from the safe house. A new spot was required.

There was a knock on her door, and she quickly put the phone back in to the shoe box, before shoving it under the bed. Paloma answered the door. Alejandro explained he needed to leave the safe house, and it would be safe and secure. Before that though he showed her where the weapons were stashed in the house just in case.

Paloma waited until he left the house with Rudolfo, listening for the sound of the vehicles leaving. Paloma took some time on her personal phone, to check a location she’d seen on the way to the safehouse.

An abandoned zoo. That would work. No one would be around, no security footage and hopefully no other Narcos.

Paloma took the shoe box out again and checked the message Alejandro had sent her, properly.

A: I need some information tonight, can you meet?

?: hang on, need a minute.

Paloma texted him back.

?: New location. Abandoned Zoo. Give me a couple of hours.

A: How much?

Paloma thought about it for a minute, staring at the phone. She set it down and got changed into darker clothing, ripped black jeans, a dark grey shirt and a black hoodie. After taking her fingers through her hair quickly, she tied her hair back. She tried a bandanna around her head, knotting it under her ponytail, and then put on the skeletal bandanna over her face. The hood covered the top of her face enough at night, so she couldn’t be seen as easily. Thankfully Alejandro respected his informant’s privacy.

Paloma stuffed a few things into her pockets and checked her phone.

A: How much?

He would be pissed upon meeting her. Not like the two got along all that much, their transactions were quick, with him having little patience for her antics. Tonight though, would be bad. Marco had been attacked. She recalled the weapons stash. Just in case, she told herself. Paloma could shoot. A hand gun couldn’t hurt. As she opened the stash, and reached for one of the hand guns, she noticed her hands were shaking. Call it off? No. No she had to give him the information no matter what he asked for.

The hand gun was strapped to her belt and gidden under her t-shirt. Paloma got the burner phone and saw the last text again. She couldn’t tell him no, he would question it. There was always a price for information. If it wasn’t money then it was an exchange of more information.

A: how much?

?: Sorry in a rush. $100, but you know my interest rates.

Paloma tucked everything into a small over the shoulder backpack and hurried out of the safe house.

Meanwhile Alejandro watched through a tablet, as his informant fled the safehouse. He hadn’t told her about the cameras. Alejandro sighed, with Rudolfo sitting next to him in the jeep. He’d figured her out, but deep down he had wanted to be wrong.

Paloma found an opening in the fence bordering the abandoned zoo. She slipped in and texted Alejandro to see how far out he was.

A: Another hour.

?: aight

For a moment she pulled her bandanna down from her face, breathing in the muggy Las Almas air. She needed some time to get into her informant persona. Personality went a long way, keeping her home life and Narcos life separate. It hadn’t done enough, but at this point there was no going back. Safer to keep up the facade with Alejandro, otherwise she could lose her only father for good. Lose the only safety and family she’s ever known.

Paloma heard a jeep pulling up and meandered over to it, covering her face once again. She traipsed over the cracked and crumbled asphalt and cement walkways before hopping on to a short wall. The young narcos paced along her wall, with her hands behind her back, each step being animated, like a guilty cartoon character trying to walk away without getting caught. The jeep’s lights remained on, as she heard two doors open and close from the sides. There was still the wrought iron gate between them, as she turned on her heel and then hopped back off the wall. The two special forces men stood in front of the gate, with her on the other side. She went over to them keeping the hood up in a way that still shadowed her eyes.

“Well what can I do for you gentleman?” She asked, tilting her head to the side. Alejandro’s eyes bearing into her, while a normal response, this time shut down her antics quickly. She swallowed hard.

“…okay… definitely not a social call then. Must be pretty serious information you need from me.” The narcos said.

“You know what I want pendejo.” He said. Paloma went very still and very quiet. Oh fuck she was in big shit now.

“A little lost there colonel. You didn’t tell me anything in the texts.” Paloma said, failing to hide her nervousness.

“He didn’t need to.” Rudolfo corrected. The narcos was feeling very fortunate there were iron bars between her and the two men. Her gaze dropped as she debated whether to make a run for it. There’s a chance still.

“You mean the recent attack. Heard about it, not sure what else I can tell ya…” she said keeping her head down.

“Why did they go after him?” Alejandro asked. “The full truth.”

Paloma sighed. Fuck it. There was no point.

“I thought I was being careful.” She said quietly. “I swear I never meant for any of it to happe-“

“What the fuck did you think would happen?!” Alejandro snapped.

“I joined to keep them off of us! I didn’t have anything before Marco and being with him kept me safe! That’s why I started selling the intel!” She exclaimed, emotions were erupting in her chest and out her throat. “I could get money to help Marco, try to keep him out of harm’s way, and help you guys take down the narcos. Now it’s all gone wrong and I don’t know how! I swear I thought he was safe!”

She buried her face in her hands. Alejandro shook his head, while Rudolfo crossed his arms.

“Why didn’t you say anything?” Rudolfo asked. Paloma dropped her hands.

“I was scared… didn’t want to lose the only family I had. But I already fucked that up. I swear the intel stuff was just to help pay bills. Marco didn’t know anything about it.” Paloma said. Alejandro stepped away from the gate, shaking his head. Kid was in over her head that was for sure, and she’d put herself there.

“I joined the narcos so I could stay safe, and keep Marco out of it. I didn’t want anything to do with it after we killed some poor guy who was just living on the streets.”

She continued. “It’s why I went to you directly. If you had the information, there was no chance of it going wrong. Marco trusted you. Raids and attacks could be stopped before they happened.”

Alejandro paced around while Rudolfo was watching Paloma. She was right the information had been useful. He understood why she did it but now there were consequences. Ones she hadn’t prepared for. He believed her, it was a matter of trusting her.

“Can you get more?” Alejandro asked. Paloma looked at him, eye widening slightly. She looked at Rudolfo and then back at Alejandro, before nodding.

“I can try.” She said. Alejandro sighed.

“Keep doing it.” He ordered.

“Colonel?” Rudolfo looked at his friend a little confused.

“You can get me more information than get it. Keep doing it. You’re good at it. Find out who learned your name. We’ll take care of it together.” He said, almost begrudgingly. “Not losing my best source.”

Paloma nodded. “Yes sir.”

“When you go back, you have to cover all of this. Marco, the exchanges, the safehouse, everything. It never happened.”

Paloma nodded, straightening up.

“If anything goes wrong you need to tell us, either me or Sergeant Parra.” He ordered. She nodded again.

“…what happens now?” She asked.

“Head back to the safe house. I need to finish up some work at the base.” She nodded and waited.

“Dismissed.” He said. Paloma gave him a tiny smile under the bandanna, nodded before hurrying off into the zoo. Rudolfo joined Alejandro back to the jeep.

“You think she’ll be okay?” Rudolfo asked.

“We’ll see.” Alejandro said. “She’s good. I think she can.”

Rudolfo nodded and got into the vehicle with his colonel.

Chapter 1080 — The legendary hero

Really enjoying the double meaning of the chapter title, but coming back to that later.

First off, Hachinosu looks like a horribly violent place, ruled by fear of Teach.

There is also some sort of code of honour, if the fact that Koby’s escape means he’s free range is something to go by. But once the border’s been crossed…

Interesting to learn a bit more about the marine bounty hunting!

And of course: what did Koby do to get such a high bounty from the Cross Guild?

And we get a better overview of the Blackbeard pirates’ whereabouts (and powers)!

Once again we have an upgraded version of an earlier Devil’s Fruit (mere stone vs whole island). But how does that work with the sea? Which is touching the island at all times? By the definition of ‘island’? Also, is he now tied to Hachinosu or can he just merge with whatever land he’s standing on, as long as it’s surrounded by water? How big is an island in the fruit’s definition of it? Is a continent an island — could he merge with the Red Line?

And what happened at Rocky Port?

So, at the moment we have the following constellation…

And speaking of Kuzan: more information about SWORD! (I’m guessing he’s a member as well and has been undercover like Drake, cementing his position by giving up information about the marines)

Also: Koby, darling. How do you still keep the marines and government in such high regard? The let in a country called, literally, ‘The EVIL Black Drum Kingdom’. They accepted Doflamingo as ruler of Dressrosa after a coup. Do you really think they’ll give two farts in the wind about Blackbeard if he pays their tribute?

(And has Blackbeard’s dream changed?)

I have.. no idea what’s going on with the marines or SWORD. They are given normal assignments (like protecting the royals during their trip to the Reverie) but are still somehow unaffiliated with the marines?

(Also, Blackbeard is such a great foil to Luffy! Luffy also doesn’t know what’s happening and doesn’t really care, while Kuzan fills in the Robin-role here for exposition.)

I’m guessing he prefers the ones who scurries away.

And going back to the beginning: Hachinosu isn’t a terribly nice place, showcased here by Blackbeard’s focus on violence as the end goal.

And, back to the start: did the title talk about him or Koby? Or both? Is this the end (of an era) for one and the start for the other’s story?

Of course, with Pizarro literally being the island, Shiryu having invisibility, Wolf just being big enough to swat them like flies and Vasco… doing his thing, they’ll be whipped.

But will it force Luffy to get there or is it something to hear about when they’re done in Egghead and possibly Elbaf?
