Got tagged for several sentence Sunday by @bigfootsmom @eowon @rewritetheending @eddiebabygirldiaz @devirnis @thewolvesof1998 @lover-of-mine and @daffi-990, as well as a lot of people for a lot of tag games all week. I was out of town and didn’t get the chance to respond, but I did scribble out this little fic in hotel rooms across the state. Tagging @shitouttabuck @malewifediaz @homerforsure @jeeyuns @rogerzsteven @wildlife4life if you have seven, or several, or, uh, however many sentences this is you’d like to share!
This isn’t the first and only time Eddie has found himself watching Buck’s hands. It's the variety, maybe, in how many ways he’s good with them that’s so captivating. Work, obviously, was the first time he’d noticed. Buck — and Eddie smiles whenever he thinks about it, now — had made himself so loud and blustery when they’d met. Eddie hadn’t doubted Bobby’s assessment that the man was a good firefighter, but he figured he was a heavy rescue kind of a guy, here for his brawn, someone to point at danger to terminator his way through it. Then, he’d held a box out for a bomb so steadily it saved all their lives; then, his grip was strong and sure in a collapsing hotel; then, on every call, no matter what, he moved with absolute confidence whether he was tying a perfect hitch knot or offering a hand to help a frightened vic to their feet. He’s good, he’s good at his job, he’s good with his hands, and still even years later Eddie has to remind himself to pay attention to his own task when Buck is at his side with a kind smile and reassuring chatter as his hands work carefully away.
The second place he’d noticed was with Chris. Buck understands lego diagrams that look like rocket science to Eddie, Buck wasn’t overseas or parenting a young child and so has played video games newer than Grand Theft Auto on a hand me down 360 sometime before 2010. He’s right there with the kid, always ready to advise on a tricky part of the diagram or give pointers for a difficult level, always ready to catch and support and comfort and protect, but the thing Eddie realized pretty quickly is how often he doesn’t do these things. Buck, from the beginning, had complete confidence in Christopher being able to figure out anything he puts his mind to. He doesn’t coddle, he never gets impatient and does something for him to get it done quicker. He’s just there to hand him the next requested lego piece with the same sort of awed smile Eddie knows is reflected on his own face when he watches his son.
Then, probably the kitchen. Eddie’s a better cook than he used to be, but he’d still rather watch Buck prepare food, diligently studying his hand on a knife or how he flips a pancake. When Eddie was a child and his abuela still lived in Texas he would watch her cook, how she would pour all her love and care for all of them into the meal, and Buck is just the same. Seeing him try the same dish over and over to get it just right makes Eddie wonder how anyone could ever think of this man as reckless, thoughtless. Being handed a plate by Buck is to be cherished in a way Eddie thinks not many people get to know.
Eddie has watched Buck’s hand on the small of Ali’s back, Taylor’s, Natalia’s. He’s watched them hold their hands, lead them in dances, seen how big his palm looked where it gently rested against their faces, wondered very quietly in some deep and hidden corner of himself what that kind of touch from that specific hand might feel like. He’s good with his hands and he’s got good hands, long fingers, little scars and freckles all over, a little bigger than Eddie’s own. He’d wondered — how could he not — quietly, and then louder and louder, and then-
And then Buck’s touches started to last longer, started happening with more frequency. A hand on his back as he passes him in Eddie’s kitchen, a room so familiar to them that the gesture is entirely unnecessary. A hand on his knee in the engine as Buck laughs at his jokes, Buck’s fingers curled gracefully around his elbow as they talk in a quiet corner of the station, gentle probing touches on every tiny scrape and bump Eddie accumulates on the job. Lingering, is the word for it, Buck’s fingers more and more reluctant to pull away, Eddie always leaning into the touch.
And now - a holiday party, full of folks from dispatch, the entire 118, Eddie’s pretty sure he even saw Ransone around the dessert table earlier. Buck’s got himself trapped behind the bar after he mixed a cosmopolitan for Karen and her delighted sound upon tasting it drew a crowd and endless requests started pouring in. So here Eddie is, too, the pair of them never far apart. He’s been perched on a stool for the last hour at least, watching Buck’s deft hands pour and mix and even do some fancy tricks with the bottles, tossing them in the air or behind his back. It makes Eddie laugh every time, and Buck’s responding grin makes him feel warmer than the alcohol could.
“You’re good at this,” Eddie says, which feels too obvious, or at the very least a vast understatement, and definitely something someone with a terrible crush would say, but something about the party and the way Buck keeps leaning towards him and, probably, the very good blackberry brambles that appear in front of him at regular intervals are all making him over inclined to share.
Buck’s grin is a little crooked, like his tongue is pressed against his teeth, and he winks, the bastard. Eddie’s probably turned a dozen shades of pink. “Bars I worked in had shit wages. Had to rake in the tips.” He nods towards Eddie’s glass, even this movement seeming extraordinarily smooth. “How’s the drink?”
Eddie snorts and takes a sip, like he needs to think about it. “You know it’s good. How come we just drink beers all the time when you can make shit like this?”
Buck laughs, head tilted back as he shakes a mixer full of Chimney’s piña colada. “Seems kinda overkill for a Tuesday night.”
Eddie grins into his drink, because Buck is at his house on Tuesday nights, and Wednesdays, and most of the rest of the week too if they can swing it. “Oh, I’m not a special enough occasion?”
“You’re plenty special, Eds.” Buck’s response is immediate, and his eyes have got all terribly soft and hard to look directly at, but the party and the leaning and the drinking have made Eddie brave, so he doesn’t duck his head. “I’ll make you a nice drink anytime.”
“Or you could-“ Eddie’s words catch, he coughs, he takes another sip of the bramble. Chimney leans against his side for a moment to grab the glass Buck’s poured his drink into, and Eddie remembers they’re not alone, they’re in a crowded room full of people who know them, he should probably go find water or breathe some fresh air, but then Chimney flits away again and Buck is looking at him expectantly.
“I could?” He prompts, with a smile that Eddie wants to fall asleep and wake up to, wants to taste.
Brave. He can be brave. Eddie rests two fingers on the back of Buck’s hand where he’s set it on the counter, looks up at him like his sister’s cosmopolitan magazines said to do. “You could show me what else you can do with your hands.”
Buck searches his face, taking big marathon runner breaths. “Eddie-” whatever he’s looking for he seems to find, because he nods, glances at Eddie’s drink, downs whatever’s left of it, and tilts his head towards the back door. It’s California, it’s not cold, but it’s winter and uncomfortable enough the backyard will be empty of party guests. Neither of them should get in a car yet, but this- this’ll work. This’ll do, in a pinch. Buck turns his hand palm up. “You wanna get out of here?”
Eddie takes Buck’s hand in his own, and they fit together just as perfectly as he hoped they might. “Yeah,” he grins, wide and goofy, unable to try and look cool about this at all. “Yes, please.” Buck is grinning just as wide, so there. “Your patrons might be upset though. Pretty early for a bar to close.”
“Fuck ‘em,” Buck says, tugging Eddie’s hand to start moving across the room. “You gave me the best tip of the night. I-“ he trips a little over somebody's toe, apologizes while Eddie giggles into his shoulder blades. “I’m retiring. They can make their own drinks.”
“Retiring?” Eddie’s impressed Buck gets the door open on only the second try. “What are you thinking of doing next?”
Buck turns around, bright against the dark backdrop of the empty yard and cloudy night sky, big dumb smile on his face. “I thought I’d become a firefighter.”
Eddie cackles, and chases Buck through the door. He stumbles a little but Buck’s hands come up to rest steady on his waist, catching him, easy.

the rational part of me wants to stay calm and think that Aaron is just miserable because Mack turned him down and the grand theft auto is his only shitty coping mechanism, he supposedly can't/don't want to do it alone, and without it what does he have to distract him? possibly, if there's anything to their flirting, being rejected by Mack would suck even more. but the less rational shipping clown part of me is kind of going nuts because what was he going to say to Vic???? what???? in that state. esp. considering their last one-on-one convo. WHAT.

A junk auto pertains to an automobile that is actually aged, wrecked, or even no more in operating shape. These cars are actually commonly looked at as junk as well as are unworthy fixing. However, even though they may be worthless, they may still have value. You can easily sell your junk cars and truck to business that offer money for vehicles and also give cars and truck removal solutions. These business normally purchase junk cars and trucks for their parts or even for reprocessing objectives. Selling your junk vehicle is actually a practical means to do away with it and get some cash at the same time.

My Favourite Disabled Characters (in no particular order)
Tumblr media
[Gif Description: Donald & Della from 'DuckTales' (2017) hugging each other. Both are smiling, with their beaks open (Della's more so than Donald's) and their eyes closed. The gif first shows Donald hugging Della, then Della hugging Donald. They're in a wooden room with a crimson hammck next to them. The hammock is filled with stuff. Behind Della (shown when Donald is hugging her) is a door with its top being round and behind Donald (shown when Della is hugging him) are 2 framed photographs on the wall next to a rectangular door.]
Tumblr media
[Gif Description: At first Edward Elric from ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’ (2003) is shown from the upper chest downwards. His flesh right foot and his metallic left foot are both bare. Ed is sitting on a white sofa with his left fist against the seat. His right armpit has been replaced by a metal port to which a metallic prosthetic arm will be attached (but not during this gif). The subtitles consist of “Geez!” then “How the hell did you get the high class auto-mail I made destroyed?” as the gif scrolls upwards. Ed’s shoulders, face, and the top of his head are revealed. He has a subdued facial expression, but not a guilty one. Ed has a light, almost peachy complexion and golden eyes & hair.]
Tumblr media
[Gif Description: Victor Stone a.k.a. Cyborg from ‘Teen Titans’ (2003) talking whilst driving a car with one hand. He has cedar skin and most of his body is mechanical; the robotic parts of him are white, light grey, black, and light blue. Vic is bald and has a robotic eye which had replaced his left eye long ago.]
Tumblr media
[Gif Description: Luz Noceda from ‘the Owl House’ (2020) looking down whilst blinking once and happily talking, a large rock or some stony terrain next to her. She has short-cropped, mahogany hair and round, matching eyes. Her skin is tawny.]
Tumblr media
[Gif Description: Alma Madrigal from ‘Encanto’ (2021) whispers something and is hugging her son Bruno, who looks down at her in surprise and is holding up his left index finger. They’re in a forest or in a plant-filled clearing.]
Tumblr media
[Image Description: Cristina from ‘Elena of Avalor’ (2020) sitting on her wheelchair whilst wearing a short-sleeved, fancy, orange-tinged yellow dress which has white and blue along the hem and the V-neck. She has light, peachy skin and dark brown hair, with a bit of her hair curling on her forehead. She wears a big, bright blue bow on her braid. Behind Cristina on her right is a pinkish red curtain with a Sun symbol on it in a dull shade of yellow and on her left is a light blue-grey (possibly silk) curtain.]
Tumblr media
[Gif Description: Teo from 'Avatar: the Last Airbender' (2005) is shown from the armpits upwards. He has pale skin and dark brown hair. He's sitting on his flying wheelchair although, most of it isn't visible in the gif) with an open-mouthed happy smile on his face. He wears hexagon-rimmed, orange-lensed goggles over his eyes and is looking past his left shoulder at someone off-screen. The background consists of clouds.]
Tumblr media
[Gif Description: The titular character of 'Avatar: the Legend of Korra' (2012) speaks with a clearly upset facial expression. She blinks and shifts her gaze from someone who is in front of her yet off-screen to looking towards the left. Korra is shown from part of her shoulders upwards, in a semi-close up.]
Tumblr media
[Image Description: Toph Beifong from A.t.L.A. is shown from the opening-meant-for-head part of her T-shirts upwards, in a close-up image that cuts off before her headband is seen. She has a wide grin on her face and the upper half of her face – including Toph's eyes (which have a milky-looking sheen over them) – got cast in shadow by her messy fringe.]
Tumblr media
[Gif Description: Uchiha Sasuke from 'Boruto: Naruto Next Generations' (2017) falls through the air (nearing the screen in the process in a manner almost akin tothe Viewer zooming in towards the fictional character) and catches his spinning chōkuto (a specific type of sword) with the only hand he has. His right eye's 3-tomoe Sharingan is activated, whereas his left eye is hidden behind his black hair. His skin is pale. Sasuke wears a fingerless, black glove on his right hand.]

Super Bomberman R Online (Nintendo Switch)
Developed/Published by: Hexadrive / Konami Released: 3/03/2017 Completed: 1/12/2022 Completion: Well, I never managed to win a match, but top 20 is good, right? Trophies / Achievements: n/a
As this is being officially shut down in two days, I thought I might as well make a record of it; thought I suppose it doesn’t entirely get to be one of those “lost” games because it is, basically, just an attempt at a battle royale version of a game that you can still get (Super Bomberman R).
And, to be honest, what I have to say about this might only annoy you, because it does come from the perspective of someone who is unbelievably crap at Bomberman. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’ve loved playing the classics–I’ve even got some games of ten-player Saturn Bomberman under my belt–but as much as I get how to play it, I am… not good at it. I’m like Mr. blow-yourself-up-constantly. I’m the kind of player who literally drops one bomb and then walks back into the explosion. Or who drops a bomb at the wrong moment and traps himself between a wall and it. Or who drops loads of bombs and forgets how far their explosions are going to reach.
To be honest, there’s just so much to track in a game of Bomberman, and that chaos is part of the fun–even if you’re a cautious yet inattentive player like me. I’m sure you can get extremely good at Bomberman, able to track what you’ve dropped and watch what your opponents are dropping and be aware of their explosion length, and that, but there’s so much on screen, all the time, that I’m pretty sure it’s always going to be beyond me. Thank goodness it isn’t, like, how we sort out wars or something, because if I was ever conscripted I’d be in trouble [Unlike actual war, where you’d be fine?--Ed.]
So, while you can take my take on any Bomberman with a grain of salt, then, I do have to say… bloody hell this was underwhelming. Underwhelming to the point where I understand why it failed so unbelievably rapidly. You’d think a battle royale bomberman would be a slam dunk, but there’s games that work as a battle royale (Tetris) games that are… fine (Super Mario Bros.) and then there’s this, which just seems like sort of a botch.
Maybe they considered a huge 64 person field and couldn’t get it to run, but this instead goes for a system where there are 16 different screens with four bombermen on each, and after a set period of time you have to move into another screen or auto-lose. Everyone gets a couple of lives (lucky at this point, as you’d be waiting between matches far longer than you’d be playing them otherwise) and that’s it, basically.
Now, I was able to get quite a few games of this going–I guess the Switch playerbase held up ok enough that I was getting games after a few minutes wait or so–but it just… it just doesn’t feel like anything. You play a match of Bomberman against some randos, then you switch to another screen and do it again. Because it’s a battle royale, you’re not exactly incentivised to anything other than survival, so you might as well just stand in your corner until you have to move–and if you do, you’ll (I’ll) probably just end up killing yourself (myself).
It’s not helped by a baffling range of characters to play that I never actually understood. As much as Konami is the worst steward of their history, I love that this game features bombermen based on the Vic Viper, Solid Snake and that, but when you’re choosing between them it’s like… wait, why would I choose this guy, who can’t level up his explosion distance past a certain point? Or… why wouldn’t I just pick this character, who has much higher starting stats? etc.
(Being generous, there’s probably some super high-level play reasons–but the game doesn’t explain any of it.)
There were a ton of monetisation things in this (a battle pass and the like) but with the actual “monetisation” stripped out the levelling up is miserably slow and random (quite incredible to get a challenge to win a battle royale as my second challenge, which was never happening) and, of course, totally worthless as of two days from now (I doubt you’ll even be able to boot it up and see what you’ve unlocked.)
To be honest, the game doesn’t even feel that good to play. Maybe I’m biased, but the games haven’t ever felt right in 3D–less precise–and you really feel that here.
This is “this ain’t it, chief” personified. Too bad, so sad.
Will I ever play it again? I can’t.
Final Thought: What’s interesting, of course, is that Konami have since released Amazing Bomberman on Apple Arcade to deafening silence (on googling, I could literally find only one review, in Italian. I suppose critic reviews are not the world's greatest way to tell how popular something is, but man. Konami really has frittered away it’s cultural cache, huh.)

* você viu VICTORIA MORALES CLOUTIER passando agora na quinta avenida? ela tem VINTE E CINCO ANOS e é MODELO E PERSONAL STYLIST. dizem que ela é AMÁVEL E DEDICADA, mas também pode ser TÍMIDA E INGÊNUA. costumam descrever ela como LOOKBOOKS ORGANIZADOS COM ETIQUETAS E POR CORES, CHEIRO DE CAFÉ A QUALQUER HORA DO DIA, SKINCARE, DIETAS SAUDÁVEIS, FILMES DE ROMANCE, CORRIDAS SOLITÁRIAS DE FONE DE OUVIDO NO CENTRAL PARK, vamos ver se descobrimos.
nome: victoria morales cloutier apelidos: vic, vivi, tory local de nascimento: paris, frança data de nascimento: 25 de agosto de 1996 idade: 25 anos signo: virgem gênero: mulher cis orientação sexual: bissexual ocupação: personal stylist e modelo qualidades: carinhosa, responsável, esforçada, sonhadora, determinada, leal defeitos: tímida, fechada, receosa, insegura, elevada auto-cobrança, influenciável
the family ,
about her ,
fun facts ,
mora no upper west side;
sai todos os dias pela manhã para correr no central park;
seu guilty pleasure é ver filmes clichês de romance e comédia;
é muito difícil vê-la bebendo, só o faz em ocasiões sociais e bem comedidamente;
tem o hábito de transformar tudo que é possível em smoothies;
é um desastre na cozinha;
tba.

Star Trek the next-er generation part 2: the hologram
She enters the office of the ship's counsellor, and is caught off guard to see... another Romulan?! That can't be, surely she'd have known if there was another Romulan in Starfleet? Who are you, she asks, unable to mask her surprise. Oh, forgive me, says the counsellor, it's just that you're the first Romulan patient I've had, and it's a bit of a blind spot in my files. I find that typically, many people feel more comfortable speaking with members of their own species, so I thought this might help put you at ease, obviously I can see I was mistaken. The Counsellor then changes appearance to that of a human.
TNG made quite a few bold changes to the Star Trek formula when it began. Worf, a Klingon, the aliens who were the kind of arch nemeses of Starfleet in the original series, is a member of the crew! Data, a robot! Troi, the ship's therapist, and some kind of psychic alien!
Of the three, Data is most definitely the character who gets the lion's share of good material. Worf episodes are mostly dedicated to klingon politics, Troi episodes are mostly about her being bad at her job and also being the most useless psychic person in the galaxy. Or they're about her fucking mom.
Data is a much richer character with way more good episodes and character growth than either Worf or Troi are allowed to get(at least until Worf joins the cast of DS9) The crux of Data's character is the exploration of "can a machine be a person." Not the most original stuff, but done well, anyway. His attempts to become more human, his assertion of personhood, despite those who would claim he cannot be anything more than a machine an thus not truly alive.
Star Trek Voyager has it's own, largely reheated version of this same character archetype in the EMH. They really want him to embody the exact same set of ethical dilemmas and whatever as Data. Is he really a person? Does he have the right to exist, and what does existence even mean for an artificial lifeform and blah blah blah.
The difference is that Holograms, for the most part, in the TNG era of star trek are mostly depicted as simple computer constructs. Characters in stories, or simulations at best of real people. Yes, of course you have Moriarty who gained self awareness because Geordie foolishly told the computer to program a character that was smart enough to become self aware. Oopsie. And then there's Vic Fontaine, another hologram character that knows he's a hologram, but he's still a character, a host of sorts for a virtual recreational program. He starts to develop a sense of personhood after his holodeck program is left on for too long.
I personally don't really like this persistent elevation of holograms into sentient beings because it's a whole can of worms that really doesn't make any fucking sense if you dig through it for more than 10 seconds. So in voyager they get way too obsessed with this idea of holograms as people. The EMH starts lamenting the state of "hologram rights" and shit when, by all evidence there's an entirety of like 3 holograms that have ever been close to expressing self aware consciousness. But then you get the whole thing with Haven, the quaint little village full of Irish stereotypes who all start becoming aware that they are holograms in a fake construct after being left on too long.
It's like suggesting that if you fire up your PS5 and leave Grand theft auto 5 running for a week straight, all the NPC's in the game will suddenly become aware that they are programs in a video game and demanding that you treat them as citizens of the united states.
The thing is like, all of the dumb shit they do to suggest that holodeck characters are real people is never extended to say, the ship's computer. Like, it's what's creating all the hologram people, and it can perform complex functions and it even has a voice you can talk to! But nobody ever tries to argue that the ship is a person who deserves to be treated as an equal, probably because you can't fuck the ship. Holograms have faces and look like people so to the dipshit writers of Voyager, that means that they are people.
This is something I'd like to get away from. Especially with all the hysteria these days surrounding Artificial Intelligence. People have this completely overblown idea of what AI is and what it's capable of, probably thanks in large part to movies, so I think it would honestly be more interesting to have a computer character who actually behaves more like a computer program would. They perform a specific set of functions as dictated by Their programming. Let's not try just making Data over and over again.
I also don't inherently dislike the idea of the EMH. But once you consider, okay a hologram in the infirmary that can lend a hand in emergency situations, well, why not have one of those in Engineering so that when a power conduit explodes in an engineer's face, you can pop a hologram over there to fix the problem with zero danger. In fact why not just replace the entire crew with holograms? Like I said it's a can of worms.
I also like the idea of Troi. Sadly, they never knew what the hell to do with her so she got a bad deal as a character. In space, a lot of really weird, really traumatizing bullshit happens all the damn time. So it would make total sense to have like, a therapist on the ship to make sure people aren't permanently fucked up from all the insane situations they go through in Starfleet. Troi, however, was never depicted as being particularly effective or useful in the role of ship psychiatrist. I can think of at least two instances where she full on just gives her patients terrible advice, and most of her episodes revolve around her having personal issues that she has to like, turn to Guinan for guidance on. Honestly, Guinan helps more people with their problems throughout that show than Troi ever does. Also, Troi has too many personal relationships with a lot of the main cast to the point where I don't think she'd be a very objective party if they had to speak with her professionally. Also is she the only therapist meant to treat a crew of like 300 people? Does she have her own shrink she sees?
So my thought was, what if you mash these two ideas together? Ship's counsellor who is a hologram. It has access to service records and psyche profile of every crew member, it's programmed with like, all the knowledge of the leading research and whatever in the field of psychology and whatnot that the federation has access to. And it's office is a mini-holodeck so it can adjust not only the decor or the scenerey but it's own appearance so it can present the most comforting setting for people to speak about their problems.
From a sort of meta, production standpoint I also think it could just be a really fun character that you could approach two ways. 1. get different actors to play the Counsellor depending on what appearance they are taking. 2. Have one actor play the Counsellor and dress them up in different makeup and costumes for each appearance change they do. That could be a really cool role for a talented actor. I think of all the different hats Brent Spiner got to wear as Data in TNG and I feel like it would be cool to have another person like that in Star Trek again.
Computer, end program, she says. The Counsellor gives a short smile, apologetic. I'm afraid only the Captain has the authority to shut down my program, in the case of emergency. I wouldn't make a very good doctor if you could just turn me off when you don't feel like talking. Of course we can end our session at any time if you don't feel comfortable, though I'm afraid I do need to clear you for duty before you can officially join the crew, so maybe you wouldn't mind talking with me for a bit? She eyes the hologram skeptically. How do I know this is confidential? For all I know, everything in this room is being recorded and sent back to Starfleet intelligence. Do you worry that Starfleet can't be trusted? Perhaps we can try and ease your sense of mistrust if we talk for a bit. Why don't you tell me a little bit about the field of psychology in Romulan society, I'm afraid it's a bit of a blind spot in my database
Of course, the Counsellor wouldn't only be interacting with our Romulan character. Part of the fun would be giving them a kind of unique persona for each different member of the crew you see interacting with them. It could be a kind of interesting framing device for episodes where you have various crew members recounting events of missions and shit, and to get nice little expository scenes about their lives and shit.
There's one character in particular that both the Romulan officer and the Counsellor would have an interesting relationships with. For the Counsellor, he's a difficult patient to work with because oh boy does he have a lot of baggage to sort through and he doesn't particularly like discussing some of the more... complicated parts of his life.
For the Romulan Officer though, he's possibly the only member of the crew who doesn't look at her funny or whisper about her behind her back. He gives her the full respect he'd afford to anyone else onboard the ship. He'd say that when he was a kid, he grew up onboard the ship with the distinction of having the first Klingon member of Starfleet, and he had such a great time learning from Worf about Klingon culture, and isn't that what Starfleet is all about? Travelling to new worlds and meeting new people and sharing our knowledge with each other in the name of progress and camaraderie?
Yes, that's right folks, it's none other than Commander Wesley Crusher!
To be continued???
