The advertisement that Apple aired during the 1984 Superbowl has become the stuff of legend. In it the company presented itself as a force of liberation, which would counter the Orwellian surveillance state. In lock-step, listless workers – evidently without a will of their own – march into a vast hall and listen to Big Brother’s fanatical declamations on the telescreen. Then the ad shows a woman rushing into the assembly hall, the Thought Police in hot pursuit. Bearing a sledgehammer before her heaving breast, she dashes forward. Full of resolve, she runs straight up to Big Brother and throws the sledgehammer at the telescreen with all the force she can muster; it explodes in a dazzling burst of light. The assembled workers promptly awaken from their torpor. A voice declares: ‘On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you’ll see why 1984 won’t be like 1984.’ But despite Apple’s message, 1984 did not signal the end of the surveillance state so much as the inception of a new kind of control society – one whose operations surpass the Orwellian state by leaps and bounds. Now, communication and control have become one, without remainder. Now, everyone is his or her own panopticon.

also more codelyokoposting but I really really dig XANA as a villain. It's not a person with a complex background that led them down the path of evil, it's not a morally grey character you sympathize with but condemn. It's a powerful AI capable of controlling almost anything in the real world. It doesn't have a face or a body, we only know it for its symbol and for the monsters it controls in the virtual world. It's willing not just to kill people through various methods (poisoning, drowning, car crash, fucking space lasers too?) but also Earth as a whole (it tried to blow up a NUCLEAR PLANT and crash two trains with toxic chemicals in them). And we don't even know why it does this, at least not for now. It may not even have a particular reason, just some sort of virus or malware in the form of an AI that seeks nothing but destruction without any goals in mind. This "pure evil" characteristic doesn't come off as childish, like in some children cartoons, it's just kind of scary to think that such an incomprehensible and destructive force exists, almost feels like a natural disaster
#m#code lyoko#that said i wish the rules of what xana can and cant do were a bit more established#like not to be a cinemasins but why doesn't it just hack the factory's elevator to stop the group from entering the room#what's stopping it from attacking the real world non stop#i think it would have been great to have an episode where they go like 'hey xana needs to rest after every attack and also we've put -#some measures to always have access to the computer room just in case it tries to block the entrance or the elevator'#idk something a la death note where you know what they can and cant do with the death note#and as always i wish the action was done better because sometimes it's like. girl you can do that very easily#specially in the virtual world. sometimes there'll be one enemy standing still and no one does nothing and then they get killed and like ?#i'd feel more threatened by xana if the monsters also seemed more threatening#and if its attacks were more grounded in reality? like that one episode where it controls yumi's samurai armor. literally what#the earthquake was also very 'oh it can do that i guess'#i like it when it's stuff like the trains almost crashing with each other#the technologic stuff i think works best. especially because it's something not everyone knows how to fight against

Chapter One — A fruitful Quest
Boisterous laughter filled a stone-walled room. Chatter and clinking glasses filled the background. Rows of colorful dressed people stumbled in front of wooden boards, tapping the air before leaving the room. Behind a brown counter stood a woman in a nun-like costume. Each time, her lifeless eyes settled on one of those people, starting to speak before switching to another person and beginning anew. This dance repeated over and over. The laughter increased.
"Look at that! Poor NPC can't even finish one acceptance."
Finally, I focused on the source. Fell armor graced a well-toned body. Red hair cut short with sideburns. A well-groomed beard framed his face. 'Gorrin Lvl. 35' with two crossed axes proudly hovered over his head.
My lips twitched into a smirk. Nothing close to my level 40. "Well, it's only natural because of the current event." My tone was measured, cultured. I loved playing the confident Eleanor.
His head swiveled in my direction. His eyes traced my name. "True! Haha! A spellblade, huh? You know, my party and I are going to a high-level dungeon, and we could use some help."
The offer surprised me. I raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What kind?" I leaned forward. "Tell me more." My fingers tapped against the table.
Gorrin puffed out his chest. "You've heard of the Gilded Peacock dungeon, right?"
My eyes widened. A rare dungeon! Licking my lips, I straightened my posture. "I've heard of it." My voice was low. The Gilded Peacock was a high-level dungeon. It had a chance to drop a legendary item. I'd love to get my hands on that. "What do you need?"
Gorrin leaned back in his chair. A smirk tugged at his lips. "We could use a versatile damage dealer." He paused. His eyes roamed over me. "And you seem to fit the bill."
My lips twitched. I had to admit, his offer was tempting. It was a rare dungeon, after all. "What's in it for me?"
Gorrin's smirk widened. He leaned forward. His eyes met mine. "Well, for our group, it's more for the reputation exp. So first pick." He shrugged. "You know how hard that is to get nowadays."
My eyebrows raised. That sounded good. Very good. I nodded. "Alright, that seems fair." My lips curved into a grin. "I'm in."
Gorrin laughed and slapped the table. "Great! We'll leave in thirty minutes." He stood up and left the room. A notification popped into my vision. I glanced at the 'Party Invites' notification.
I accepted and left the tavern.
Outside, the sun was high in the sky, casting its golden glow over a town of cobblestone streets and half-timbered buildings. People dressed in vibrant colors strolled through the market stalls. A breeze carried the aroma of freshly baked bread and spices. Laughter filled the air, along with the clatter of coins and the calls of merchants hawking their wares.
My gaze shifted to the group waiting outside the tavern.
Three female players were with him. One was a level 35 Warrior with long blond hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build wearing a suggestive set of armor. The next was a level 32 Priestess with black hair, purple eyes, and a petite build wearing a revealing robe that left nothing to the imagination. Lastly, a level 30 Thief with red hair, green eyes, and an average build wore tight leather armor.
"Greetings everyone." My voice was clear as I approached them. They turned towards me with an unnatural synchronicity. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up.
Gorrin smiled and waved. "Hey there Eleanor! I'm glad you accepted our invitation. These are my companions. Meet our Warrior, Aria, Priestess, Sirena, and our Thief, Kira." Each woman giggled and squirmed at the mention of their name. Something seemed off with their reaction.
My brows furrowed. The women seemed like bots. They weren't acting normally. I looked at Gorrin and he seemed fine. He didn't appear to notice the odd behavior of the women. A chill trickled down my spine as I wondered if a more nefarious explanation existed. I shook my head, pushing those thoughts aside.
Gorrin clapped his hands and turned away. "Let's get a move on! To the Gilded Peacock dungeon!"
The group started moving out of town and I followed, falling in line with the others. They strode with a sensual wave. Hips rolled from side to side. Their chests rose and fell. My mouth dried. A strange sensation coursed through me. My core warmed.
My gaze lingered on their bodies as we made our way to the dungeon, and a sense of arousal started to grow inside me. I tried to push it aside and focus on the task at hand. But it wasn't easy as their movements were distracting. I shifted uncomfortably as the warmth in my core grew more intense.
We left the city gates and the cobblestone transitioned into a well-trod dirt path. The town fell away.
"How long will the track be," I asked. My eyes flickered towards Gorrin.
Gorrin shrugged, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Not long. It's just around the bend." His tone was casual, but his eyes held a glint of anticipation. I nodded.
The group continued to walk through the lush forest, the scent of pine filling the air as the canopy above us filtered the sunlight into dappled rays that danced across the forest floor.
Aria, Sirena, and Kira walked through the bush as if it were a catwalk. My gaze couldn't tear itself from their swaying bodies and bouncing assets. A bead of sweat dripped down my face as I tried to concentrate on where I placed my feet. It would be embarrassing to trip. So, I copied their motions. My hips swung with a more significant roll and my chest jutted forward. The warmth between my legs grew and the world became hazy as the sensation took hold.
Aria glanced over her shoulder, catching me in the act of watching. I felt my cheeks heat up as she shot me a knowing smile, plump lips curved. A surge of excitement jolted through me as her gaze lingered. My heart skipped a beat. My mouth went dry.
We kept on walking deeper into the woods. Our surroundings grew denser and more overgrown as we delved further. The air grew thicker and more humid. Sweet honey aroma filled my nose. My body tingled.
"Almost there!" Gorrin said cheerfully. His pace quickened as he pushed through the undergrowth.
A few minutes later we stumbled into a clearing. In the center stood a large wooden door set into an ancient stone wall that towered above us. Ivy clung to its surface, and the door was marked with intricate carvings of peacocks. Thousands of eyes swirled on the intricately carved feathers.
A sense of dread filled me. My mind felt like mush. My gaze lingered on the artwork until delicate arms snaked around my waist.
"It's beautiful, right," whispered Sirena. Her breathry words tickled my ears.
My head swiveled to meet her eyes and the world blurred. I had to blink several times as a wave of vertigo struck me. "Y-Yes," I managed to whisper. My tongue felt too large. I had to force my words through swollen lips. What was happening?
"Shh. Don't worry." Sirena pressed her body against my back. Her fingers caressed my waist in lazy circles. "Soon everything will make sense." Her hands slid up and down my curves.
A shudder ran through me as she continued her ministrations. I struggled to keep my mind clear. Her touch was electrifying, and my body ached with a deep, throbbing desire.
"Just watch the peacocks." Sirena purred, her hot breath brushing against my neck. My gaze returned to the wooden door, the swirling carved feathers, and their eyes. My breath quickened. My heart pounded. A wave of pleasure coursed through my body as my focus narrowed on the intricate patterns. I felt like a moth drawn to a flame.
"Good girl. Fall into the carvings. Feel the swirl." She nuzzled my ear. My body trembled with anticipation.
My gaze locked onto the carved eyes, swirling, spinning, mesmerizing me. "Yesss," I whispered. The patterns danced in a hypnotic rhythm, luring me deeper and deeper. My mind fogged over, my body grew hot and burned with desire.
"She is ready to enter the dungeon," said Sirena in a low, husky tone.
"Great work, Sirena. Kira, make sure she has all the necessary equipment," commanded Gorrin. He strode over and stood beside me, staring into my face with a hungry grin. "Welcome to the Gilded Peacock, my pet."
The red-haired Kira stepped up beside Gorrin, a sultry smirk on her lips. Her hand held an intricate golden circlet. She reached out, gently brushing my long brunette locks aside. "This will mark you as the target for the quest line."
Her fingers brushed my forehead, sending shivers down my spine. The circlet fit snugly, pressing against my scalp. My vision swam and my head felt heavier, weighed down. The circlet pulsed in time with my heartbeat. A soft, golden light illuminated the carvings on the wooden door, highlighting the intricate patterns and swirls of the peacock's feathers. "Target," I whispered. My mind felt fogged. I couldn't focus on anything. But one thought stood clear. 'Target.'
"Open the door and welcome the target into your domain, Gorrin." Sirena purred.
"Let's do this, ladies," said Gorrin, his voice thick with anticipation. His hand hovered over the handle. "Eleonor —" his eyes roamed over my body — "take point."
My body burned with desire. "Yes," I said in a low voice. My hips swayed as I approached the door. The carved eyes seemed to watch me. They sent tingling waves of warmth throughout my body. My core ached with a desperate need. He pressed down the handle. The door swung open without resistance. Beyond it lay an ornate room, a circular chamber with a golden tiled floor, walls adorned with murals, and a domed ceiling decorated with a fresco depicting a royal woman. Flowing fabric hid nothing of her voluptuous figure; the same golden circlet adorned her. Wide open arms radiated a welcome. A large circular pedestal with a peacock statue occupied the room's center. Its spread wings were crafted from gold and jewels. Hundreds of eyes stared at me.
Gorrin stepped aside. "Now this dungeon is pretty easy when you know what to do. Eleanor, you will take its trails while the girls and I wait here. There is nothing concerning about this. You agree, of course."
I didn't hesitate. My feet carried me towards the room, each step filled with purpose. "I agree," I said. The need between my thighs burned. The circlet on my forehead pulsed in time with the desire in my body.
Gorrin chuckled behind me. The sound of the door closing echoed through the chamber. My eyes flattered as the shock hit me. Shaking my head I groaned. "W-What?" My question echoed through the room. Alone, I shivered. Something was wrong. Why would he leave me alone?
My eyes wandered over the walls and the peacock. I felt the eyes follow me. Goosebumps covered my skin. "Hello? Anybody there?"
Silence. Only the faint sound of breathing, my own. The hairs on the back of my neck rose. Carefully, I placed one foot in front of the other. My eyes tracked the quest marker—the pedestal with the peacock. My breath came in short bursts, heart thumping.
I stepped onto the tiled floor. Each footstep echoed in the vast room. Slowly, I reached out to the peacock and my fingers brushed the cold, smooth surface of the golden wings.
The statue glowed brightly and a loud caw of a bird filled the air. From my hip, I drew a palash. Intricate runes glowed along the blade. But before I could swing it, a pulse of energy erupted from the pedestal. The air shimmered and shifted, distorting my view of the statue. Colors danced and merged. Bright blues, greens, and purples. Everything ran circles around me. The whole room felt like a wild ride on a carousel.
I stumbled backward and blinked hard, trying to shake the disorientation. "Do not fight, dear." A female voice, smooth as silk, purred. It reverberated through my skull. "This is merely a welcome."
The distorted colors faded. A woman stood before me, her presence overwhelming and her aura of power immense. Her appearance was breathtaking. Long golden hair cascaded down her shoulders in gentle waves, framing a face with sharp cheekbones, full lips, and almond-shaped eyes. Purple irises shined with ephemeral energy.
Her skin shimmered with a pale golden hue. She wore an exquisite gown that accentuated her voluptuous figure, the fabric shimmering with every move she made, a work of art in its own right.
My jaw hung slack and I struggled to form words, "W-what?" My body reacted to her overwhelming presence. Heat flushed my cheeks.
"Oh, you may look like a higher breed of rabble, but you lack articulation. Gorrin's offerings are always so lacking." Her lips curled in distaste.
My mouth opened, but no words emerged. Her comment stung. My pride demanded I retaliate, yet her overpowering presence kept me silent. I felt like prey in a predator's grasp, a helpless rabbit.
"Silence is an improvement." Her smile was sharp. She gracefully stepped closer, her movements fluid like water. "Listen closely, little mortal. One of my —" derision filled her voice, "loyal servants has chosen you." A golden finger pointed at me. My body tensed. "A target." She chuckled, her voice filled with dark mirth. "You will undergo a trial to prove yourself." I cringed, taking a step back. "It will determine if you are to become a simple sacrifice to my glory, or lavished with my generosity."
I forced myself to stand my ground. I wouldn't run away. "Who are you?"
Her laughter rang through the room; the peacock eyes glowed in sync. "I am Lady Verena of the Divine Peacock, a deity of beauty, passion, and pleasure. You, little one, have the honor of standing in my temple."
Was this supposed to be real? This NPC had an aura around her that seemed impossible. I had to know. With a shaking finger, I tapped my character menu, searching for the 'log-out' button.
But there was nothing — only blankness. My heart raced, a sense of dread washing over me. What was happening?
"None of that now," Lady Verena's voice, laced with amusement, cut through my panic. "You will not escape into the dream you mortals call reality." I shivered, her words hitting like a punch in the gut. Was I trapped here forever? A cold sweat broke out, and a wave of nausea hit me.
She stepped closer, her presence looming, suffocating me. "Now let us begin. This first test will be quite simple, really." She snapped her fingers.
A blue magical circle appeared around me. I gasped. My vision swam, and the room shifted, twisting and contorting, until it stopped as abruptly as it began.
Grey walls overgrown with mold surrounded me. My gaze shifted down a dimly lit hallway. Torches lined the stone walls, casting flickering shadows. A metallic smell lingered, heavy in the air. My stomach twisted with unease. Only the weight of the palash in my hand brought solace.
"Listen closely, my little target," Lady Verena's words reverberated from every wall. My gaze darted from one direction to another, but there was no trace of her. Only an empty hall. "The first trial is fairly simple: reach the exit — even rabble like you should succeed." Her voice dripped with contempt and disdain. My face flushed with anger. "And do not try to remove that pretty little headpiece of yours; you might not enjoy the consequences."
I scowled, gripping the palash tighter. Hard pressed the circlet against my skull. "How did you do this?" My question hung in the air, but no response came.
My attention turned to the hallway ahead. I took a tentative step forward. Echoes of my clacking heels reflected off the stone. My gaze shifted from side to side, scanning for potential threats. Nothing. Only an oppressive emptiness lingered. Stale clang the atmosphere onto my body.
Slowly, I made my way deeper. My heart hammered against my rib cage. The air grew thick; invisible tendrils brushed over my skin. Unease grabbed my mind, a sense of violation. I strained to hear the slightest sound, my ears perking up at the faintest noise. Hollow winds whispered. An unsettling presence grew. Something was here, with me. My body shivered with a sense of being watched, of being touched. But no matter where I looked, no source could be seen.
Inhaling I tried to calm down. This was not the first difficult dungeon I had conquered. Whatever Gorrin— or this strangely postering NPC — had planned won't succeed.
As I pressed forward the air shifted and stirred. Every inch of my body felt exposed. The air grew thicker and denser as if charged with a palpable energy. With a shaking hand, I raised my palash, ready to strike at anything. Each step became a careful dance, my eyes darting left and right, scanning the flickering shadows. But no attack came. The sensation grew and spread like a cloud of smoke. My breath came in ragged gasps.
A breeze caressed my face, teasing strands of hair. My skin prickled, the sensation creeping down my neck, over my chest. It reached my nipples. Goosebumps rose and I shuddered, a gasp escaping my lips. My breasts felt full. My nipples strained against my dress and armor, aching with each brush of fabric. My mind swirled, a mix of confusion and pleasure. My lips trembled as I spoke: "What are you doing to me?"
But there was no reply, only a deepening of the sensations. Flames burned with hidden laughter; darkness raveled in open contempt. I was their prey.
A gust of wind wrapped around me. My hair danced, and I spun, slashing wildly. My blade cut through air, but nothing resisted its force. The weight of the circlet bore heavy. I gasped. The air shifted and my body reacted. Nerves ignited with pleasure. Heat flushed my cheeks. My nipples ached and my core burned. Fear mixed with rapture. I couldn't focus on my surroundings. Each breath brought more of this cloying scent, my body shivered, and my mind swam. I needed more; the ache between my thighs was unbearable. My knees buckled. My hands found purchase against the wall.
"Please stop." I whimpered, the sound pathetic even to my ears. I felt violated. Every fiber of my body craved more, and every nerve cried out in protest. My legs trembled. I struggled to stay upright. Through gritted teeth, I called a simple spell. I had nothing to lose. "Reval."
The flames flared brightly. A hundred pairs of purple glowing eyes appeared in the dark; their unblinking gaze fixated on me. Finally, something tangible appeared. With a flourish, I brandished my blade. Runes thrummed with power. "Exermi!" My shout reverberated from the grey stones, and the blade erupted with white light.
The shadows swayed in the brightness, the air churned. My muscles strained and my lungs heaved. With a cry I lunged forward, slashing at the nearest eye. The blade met resistance, cutting through something unseen, and an eerie wail pierced the silence like the screeching of a thousand nails on a chalkboard. The shadows converged and swirled around me, the wind whipped at my face, my hair lashed against my cheeks. A cacophony of screeching, hissing, and growling echoed through the hallway, a symphony of rage.
The eyes drew closer, the shadows darkened. My heart hammered in my chest. My eyes narrowed. Fluid I stepped through the frothing assault. Whips of shadows bounced off the ground as they narrowly missed. Pushed forward the palash pierced another eye. And another. The shrieks and wails intensified. The flames of the torches grew with each closed pupil.
With each strike, the air grew thinner. My skin crawled, the heat between my legs waned, my mind cleared. My attacks grew bolder, and my movements became more confident. A smile tugged at my lips as the final eye winked closed and the last wail faded into nothing. The shadows retreated.
Freshness tickled my nose. My body slumped against a wall. Sweat dripped down my forehead. My dress was a disheveled mess. But my chest filled with triumph and relief. A shaky laugh escaped me.
"Well done, little one," Lady Verena's voice rang from above, dripping with contempt and mockery. "Your show was quite entertaining. But your test is not over yet."
My blood boiled with rage. "Why?" The sound echoed off the stone walls. "What did I ever do to you?"
"Oh, do not take it personally." Lady Verena's laughter was like shards of ice cutting deep. "I simply deserve your eternal devotion."
"By what? Making me into an empty plaything? Don't think I didn't notice how strange those other women looked or acted." I glared up. "They are not themselves. What have you done to them?"
A pregnant pause hung in the air. The flames danced. Then, her voice sliced through the tension. "You have not won the trial yet. And so—" Her tone turned to steel. "Your impertinence will have consequences." Fog crept over the ground. "But since you mentioned Gorrin's former offerings — Let us see how you fare against one of them."
The mist grew denser and swirled, forming a humanoid figure. The silhouette became more defined until, finally, a woman stepped forth from the fog. She stood tall and proud, her posture exuding confidence. She wore an intricate leather harness that left nothing to the imagination. It pushed up her massive breasts. They bounced with every movement. Kira. I shivered at the thought. Her black boots were laced up to her mid-thighs, accentuating her toned legs. A whip coiled around her hips and a pair of daggers hung at her side. Her red hair cascaded down her shoulders and framed her angular face.
She looked at me, and her lips curled up. Predatory gleamed her eyes. My grip on the palash tightened, my pulse raced.
"Hello Eleanor," she purred. Her voice dripped with seduction. "Let us dance." She unsheathed the whip from her hips in a smooth motion, her body moving with a hypnotic rhythm.
Fast, I pierced forward. Like a meteor, I crashed into her motion. But my strike only disturbed the wallowing fog. She twirled along the side of my thrumming blade, whip flying through the air. It struck my exposed side. However, instead of pain, a pulse of pleasure bloomed. I gasped, and she slipped out of reach. Her eyes twinkled with mischief. She licked her lips, tasting the air with a grin.
"More." Again, the whip struck, this time my arm. Another jolt of pleasure erupted. My muscles numbed, and I fought to hold on to my weapon. She chuckled. Her movements flowed like a serpent's dance. The whip cracked through the air again. And again. Each time it hit, waves of pleasure coursed through me, numbing my limbs, weakening my grasp.
I struggled to keep a firm grip. My breath came in short, ragged gasps. "Protecto," I mumbled, and runes flared. My skin shimmered in a golden light. Kira frowned. She lashed again — but a barrier flashed alive.
Kira's smile widened. "Nice trick," she purred. "Let's try again." She cracked the whip, aiming for my neck. But it was deflected. My body tensed. The next strike was for my stomach, but it bounced off, as well. Kira's frustration was palpable, but she didn't let it stop her. With a flurry of flying leather, she attacked again and again. Slow my magical reserve ticked down. I couldn't stand there forever.
"Give in." She lashed at my legs. I parried with the palash. Leather wrapped around steel — immediately I pulled Kira towards me. Clenching my left into a fist I punched. The barrier shimmered and slammed against her stomach. Air escaped her lips. My hand tingled with the force of the impact. The shock on her face sent a surge of triumph through me. Before she could recover, I yanked the whip away, sending it clattering across the floor. With swift movement, I stabbed down.
Kira gasped in pain and surprise as my palash found its mark. Blood blossomed, staining her skin. But something was off. Her expression contorted into one of twisted pleasure, a smile forming on her lips as her eyes fluttered shut.
"What the—" My words caught in my throat.
She let out a moan of ecstasy as she pulled herself along the blade, impaling herself further onto it. "Sirena and Aria will love playing with you," she purred.
My grip faltered and I staggered back, eyes widening in shock. Hand no longer around my palash's grip.
Kira chuckled, her voice a sultry melody. "Oh, poor Eleanor." She stepped forward, closing the distance between us, her movements sensual and fluid despite her injuries. "Do not worry; you'll soon learn to love it as much as I do." And the fog swallowed her form. The palash cluttered on the ground.
"Next test awaits, my little one," Lady Verena said, the air charged with her amusement.
My breath came in short gasps, and my muscles tensed, preparing for whatever awaited me next.

dehradun days
you meet them for the first time,
knowing it's probably the last.
might as well make the most of this time,
since life comes at you fast.
you find the strangest of signals
in the no-network zones.
cross-tent communication with folks,
just rambling about the unknown.
there's the warmth of shared laughter,
that carries you through freezing nights,
and you look up at the flickering stars,
to finally see things in a different light.
and at 11,000 ft above sea level
you finally reach the peak,
just to realise the joy was in the journey,
and the friends you made that week.
you'll visit caves & splendid cafes,
and remember the city in mere parts,
but years later, you'll still tell everyone,
how dehradun captured your heart.

What are some heart broken however realities about human existence?
We battle a great deal for animal types that won't endure as long as 150 years in this day and age.
You're similar to a scent when you're rich and like a smell when they're poor.
You can't get away from preliminaries and passing regardless of how diligently you attempt.
No one is indispensable aside from your family assuming you're fortunate.
The world in many cases won't view you in a serious way on the off chance that you're not fruitful.
Providers ought to continuously have limits since takers don't. Assuming you neglect to, a large portion of them will be quick to snicker at you when you lose everything.

Mind-Control Tech: Are We Ready?

Neurotech Interfaces: Are We Ready to Control Devices with Our Minds?
Imagine typing a message, controlling your car, or playing a game - all without lifting a finger. That’s no longer the stuff of science fiction. It’s the direction technology is heading, thanks to the emergence of brain-computer interfaces. These neural systems are promising a future where direct communication between the mind and machines could be as natural as touchscreens are today. But are we ready for that level of integration?
What Is a Brain-Computer Interface?

A brain-computer interface, or BCI, is a system that connects the human brain to an external device. It picks up electrical signals from brain activity, interprets them, and converts them into commands. These signals can then be used to operate machines, apps, or prosthetics without physical movement. Think of it as a bridge between the brain’s intent and the digital world - a connection made possible through sensors, algorithms, and years of neurological research.
From Labs to Lives: How BCIs Are Used Today
While the idea sounds futuristic, brain-computer interfaces are already active in the medical world. They’ve been used to help paralyzed individuals move robotic limbs, control cursors, or speak through synthesized voices. Companies like Blackrock Neurotech are at the forefront, developing high-fidelity brain implants used in clinical trials. Their work with motor restoration and cognitive tracking shows how BCI technology is already changing lives.
Then there’s Neuralink, the venture backed by Elon Musk. The company has performed public demonstrations showing how their neural device allows monkeys to play games with their minds. In 2025, Neuralink moved into its first human trials, aiming to make BCI technology both safe and commercially viable. These early cases show the tech is quite real.
Gaming, Work, and Beyond: The Consumer BCI Vision
Beyond medical applications, companies are eyeing consumer use. Imagine logging into your computer, playing immersive VR games, or writing documents - all powered by thought. Brain-computer interfaces could radically change how people interact with digital environments. This would allow faster reactions in gameplay, deeper immersion in simulations, and even better focus in productivity tasks. The idea of working or learning with your mind, instead of just your hands, opens up a whole new design philosophy.
The Ethics of Mind Access

The more connected we become, the more questions arise. What happens when brain signals are stored? Who gets access to this data? As interfaces become more sensitive, the line between control and surveillance starts to blur. Thought data, unlike browsing history, is deeply personal. Once exposed, it can’t be changed. These concerns go far beyond cybersecurity — they enter the realm of personal agency and mental privacy.
Who Owns Your Thoughts?
If a BCI captures and stores neural patterns, that data becomes valuable. But it also becomes vulnerable. Could your thoughts be used against you? Could companies monetize your focus or mood patterns? Could governments mandate brain scans for security? These questions are no longer theoretical. The speed of innovation demands answers about ownership, rights, and accountability. Before any BCI becomes mainstream, these gaps in ethical design must be addressed.
Qwegle’s Watch on Future Interfaces
At Qwegle, we keep a close eye on how these frontier technologies impact business design and user behavior. Our experts help brands understand how new interfaces will shape digital experiences. From future-proofing content platforms to exploring new modes of interaction, we support businesses navigating shifts in data control. For us, tech is not just about novelty. It’s about preparation.
Roadblocks Ahead: What’s Slowing Adoption?
Despite the excitement, brain-computer interfaces face serious limitations. Surgical implants are invasive and expensive. Signal clarity often requires lab-grade equipment. There are still a few universal standards for hardware or data formats. Regulations are catching up slowly, and widespread trust is missing. Until brain interfaces are proven safe, accessible, and secure, mass adoption remains unlikely - but not out of reach.
Where Are We Headed? Over the next five to ten years, we’ll likely see non-invasive versions of BCIs, starting with wearables and accessories, enter the mainstream. Neuralink and Blackrock Neurotech are expected to release more trial data, and regulatory agencies will be pressured to keep pace. Once the technology becomes simpler and safer, it could change everything from education to smart homes. The journey to mind-controlled tech has already begun - now it’s a matter of how far and fast we’re willing to go.

In honor of my nine year anniversary with my beloved wife please enjoy a story from our third date.
Just gonna reemphasize that. Our third date. We were still very much getting to know each other. We were virtually strangers.
We had been intending to do a meetup at a nerdy cafe with a group of people, but unbeknownst to us there had been a tragedy in the group and everyone else bailed. My beloved and I made the best of it. We had a nice date. I horrified them by eating sliders in three bites but it wasn’t a deal breaker.
Afterward I was driving us back to my place when a car came up and rear ended me. It was a pretty light bump but I was still like, well. That car hit me, time to pull over and exchange info.
Except the other car decided to instead shoot past me and drive away.
Infuriated, I pursued.
From the passenger seat, a captive on a third date with someone else in control of the car and pursuing strangers into the darkness, my beloved said, “Uh, what’s the plan here?”
“They hit me! We need to exchange information!”
Indeed. I did not have a plan. The plan was that when you hit someone with your car you exchanged insurance information. I would pursue until that happened.
The offending car led us a merry chase and as I followed through winding pitch black forest roads I felt the tiniest inkling of misgiving. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea? Pursuing someone into the darkness? But I persisted.
I wasn’t being propelled by a plan or even stubbornness but instead I followed a blazing righteousness. Fundamentally I knew that when you hit someone’s car you talked to them afterward. It was an inexorable fact. They would not escape the talking portion of this event.
When the car pulled into a trailer park I fully realized that this was not, in fact, a good idea. Inside the other car was a couple who were clearly having an argument and it seemed increasingly unlikely that they had insurance info to swap.
With a sigh I said, “Will you pull out your flashlight? Let’s see if my bumper is damaged.”
We got out of the car and inspected my bumper together. It actually looked fine, and I was about to call it when the woman got out. It was instantly clear she was under some chemical influence, her pupils dilated absurdly large. She attempted a poor performance as she said, “Oh, did we hit you?”
“Yeah,” I said flatly, “but I think it’s fine. I don’t see any damage.”
“We weren’t sure, uh, if we did, we didn’t think we did but we just weren’t sure.” She shifted anxiously foot to foot.
It was time to leave, a fact which became clearer when the man stepped out, eyes buzzing in his skull. He feigned innocence and radiated an aura of someone barely tethered to reality. My beloved and I waved them off and got back in my car to drive away.
As we did my beloved let out a huge gust of air as if they’d been holding their breath.
“Are you okay?”
“I was so squared up ready to fight them,” they said. “I’m glad we didn’t.”
I turned to look at them in astonishment. “Why would we have fought?”
“Are you joking? You followed them at 11pm to a trailer park! The second we got out of the car I was in a fighting stance. What did you think would happen?”
“I- I don’t know. That we’d talk and then go home? But. I can see now that driving after a car that tried to do a hit and run may not have been that safe…”
“You think!!!”
We sat in silence for a while before we burst out in relieved laughter.
“You were ready to fight?” I asked.
“I do kung fu! That guy looked so shady, I was ready to kick his ass, but I really didn’t want to.”
Unbelievably, they agreed to more dates, and eventually married me, but more often than not they’re the one driving.
