#large text#accessibility#vision problems#on a laptop or tablet you can zoom in fine but on mobile if you enlarge your default text it breaks a few apps#including amazon

The question is as written. I am not asking whether or not you wear glasses but I'm curious about the overall vision problems. Or lack of depending on where and how this poll goes!
(I get nervous when too many people see my polls because I just do them for fun, so feel free to reblog but don't feel obligated lol c:)

FUCK this glitchy/flashy/shaky/static effects trend that every person who makes any sort of media is getting into and putting everywhere without any trigger warnings whatsoever!
You are making it impossible for people like me with seizure, vision, photosensitivity, etc issues to engage with any media (especially videos and/or reels taking over) AT ALL!
So tired of it, fuck the ads everywhere (even here now!), fuck the reels taking over, fuck this flashy effects trend, fuck it all.
Sincerely, someone with severe vision, photosensitivity, and seizure issues, who is being forced away from every form of media for the sake of their own health.

Genuine Question: I have really bad vision problems in one of my eyes. It's been that way since I was around 5 years old. I genuinely can't make out anything from that eye. It's like intensely fuzzy static, and nothing helps it, not glasses, not contacts, nothing. I struggle to explain it to people because it's so specific, and I'm genuinely curious, am I technically blind in that eye? I don't want to claim that I am if it technically wouldn't be called that, which is why I'm very hesitant about ever phrasing it that way, so I just honestly want to know if it does count as that or not.

we use a screen reader fairly often cus we struggle to read and have worsening vision- meanwhile the non-existence of alt text on images / image IDs is depressing as fuck
not to mention the amount of people who use alt text as a joke, completely exclusing groups of people

Oh, another "I need glasses a lil bit" update:
Also, the reason it feels like an uphill battle to read large amounts of white text on dark backgrounds on screens is not because I look at screens too much and am an online gremlin with poor posture and no self-control but because that's very common for people with astigmatism.

Why can I see better without my glasses if I close one eye.
Edit: it's called "convergence insufficiency", where your eyes try to drift to the sides when you're trying to focus on something close to you.
Like for instance a phone screen you have to hold up to your face because you have your glasses off and can't see more than five inches away

Being able to see is actually so amazing, there are actually people out there that don't have to fumble for their glasses in the morning, or worry about accidentally falling asleep with single-use contacts, who have never marvelled at the sight of individual leaves on trees, at just how many stars there actually are in the night sky, or looked down in amazement at how the ground seems to roll underneath you when you get your first pair of glasses
I think that's amazing, no matter how much I wish it were me

Game changer!... or am I just that clueless?
I have worn glasses for over 40 years. The last 5 or so bifocals. I JUST DISCOVERED that when I wear my distance-only glasses, if I slide them down my nose they work for up-close EVEN BETTER than either the bifocals or the reading glasses. Is this just a quirk of my particular prescriptions or is this always true??? This will greatly cut down on switching glasses!

if i look at the sky or the horizon for too long (esp when driving) i start to see this flickery mandala pattern centered on my center of vision. it's pretty complex and sort of floral or fractal-ish, but indistinct. reminds me of the beginning of an ocular migraine. vaguely uncomfortable/annoying. any idea what this could be? seems kind of close to visual snow maybe?
