russian fascist terrorist state is destroying us for existing
photos: evacuation of the last remaining civilians from Vovchansk, a city in the Kharkiv region, which is now being razed to the ground by russian relentless artillery fire and airstrikes.
Another city gone.
This is what russian occupation is. And this what they're trying to do to Vovchansk for the second time. It breaks my heart that people of Vovchansk went through this once and now have to leave their homes again to not be tortured.
Don't be indifferent. Make Russia pay. Please hear our cry out to the world, keep spreading our voices, and donate to our army and combat medics (savelife.in.ua, prytulafoundation.org, Serhii Sternenko, hospitallers.life, ptahy.vidchui.org, and u24.gov.ua).
Also, you can help the Kharkiv region by supporting this fundraiser for electronic warfare equipment for the electronic warfare unit that protects Kharkiv and the region.
PS: "Vovchansk" in Ukrainian means "Wolf town". Just thought English speakers might be interested to know. Remember the Wolf Town in the North of Ukraine. Because it is no more🥺💔
This is what Russian "liberation" looks like in Vovchansk. It happened in Mariupol, Avdiivka, Bakhmut, and countless other cities and towns.
Now, imagine if this befell your hometown in your country. Your schools are decimated, forcing the children of your school districts to learn virtually or underground. Your alma mater is only memory and no longer a tangible place now that it has been reduced to shattered glass, twisted metal, and heaps of concrete. Your kid's favorite playgrounds and parks are shelled and showered with shrapnel—thank meager luck your family decided not to go to that park that day. That book you wanted to borrow at the library is now ash because the library was a "military target".
This is what happened with Vovchansk, a city in the Kharkiv region, because the allies are afraid of escalation and do not allow Ukraine to use weapons for their intended purpose. Less than a month has passed since russia began to wipe this city off the face of the earth. And this happens to every city and village in Ukraine, because Ukrainians are forced to fight fascists and murderers.

Ukraine fails to stabilise new front in Kharkiv region
Russian troops are storming AFU positions in Kharkiv region south-east of Hlyboke to open the way to Lyptsi, Ukrainian media report.
Meanwhile, the Russians continue to advance in a block of high-rise buildings in Vovchansk. Assault units of the Sever (North) group of troops are storming the Aggregate Plant and the high-rise neighbourhood, according to Ukrainian media. In the meantime, the AFU unsuccessfully tried to counter-attack from the woods at the bend of the Vovcha River.
Ukrainian forces are reportedly actively throwing their best reserves into the counter-attack, constantly pulling new forces to the area. However, they are experiencing difficulties in moving troops due to the operations of Russian Lancet drones.
At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities are trying to hastily settle the scandal over embezzled funds for the construction of fortifications in Kharkiv region. The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the State Bureau of Investigation charged the commander of the regional directorate of the South territorial defence forces, according to Ukrainian media.
The official reportedly engaged three servicemen who spent more than a year building him a house, while receiving extra payments for allegedly performing combat tasks on the front line. According to the charges, the commander faces up to 12 years in prison.
This morning, 53-year-old Oleksandr Potikun from Vovchansk took three dogs, documents, canned food, and photo albums and left the city to evacuate.
The man walked for 15 kilometers until he was picked up by the police. Oleksandr says that he decided to leave the city when a Russian tank damaged his house and a neighboring one. Before, he didn't want to leave because of Toshka, Jozyk, and Archie - he was afraid that the dogs would disappear if he left them behind. He also evacuated family photos: "Our houses are burning very badly, at least we will have something to remember."
Potikun says that Vovchansk is broken, Russians are bombarding the city with air and artillery around the clock.
Defense forces have stopped the enemy's attempts to break through the defense in the east, while fighting continues in Lukianets and Vovchansk
"The situation on the eastern front remains tense in the Khortytsia Joint Forces Operation Center in our area of responsibility, but the defense units are actively engaged in defensive battles. Attempts by Russian invaders to break through our defense have been stopped. The situation has been stabilized, in particular in the Kharkiv sector," said Nazar Voloshyn, spokesman for the Khortytsia group.
According to Voloshyn, the operational situation remains difficult, but it is changing dynamically. Fierce defensive battles continue: "There are settlements in a large part of our border area where the enemy is trying to gain a foothold and use them for further advancement."
In the video, Oleksiy Kharkovsky, head of the Vovchansk patrol police, said that the situation in Vovchansk is extremely difficult, the enemy is taking positions on the streets of the city, where the evacuation of the population is also underway.
Russia claimed to have taken full control of the settlement of Bilohorivka in Ukraine’s eastern Luhansk region. Ukraine’s General Staff said fighting was continuing in the area and it was “holding back the onslaught of the enemy”.
Roman Semenukha, the deputy governor of the northeastern Kharkiv region, told national television that Ukrainian troops remained in control of about 60 percent of Vovchansk and were fighting house-to-house to defend the border town from Russian attacks. Also speaking on national television, regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said the Vovcha river, which cuts through the town, marked the front line.
Ukraine’s Air Force said it shot down all 29 Russian drones that targeted various parts of the country on Monday. Two people in the southern Kherson and Zaporizhia regions were killed, while 16 of the drones were shot down over the southern region of Mykolaiv where the debris damaged a private home and caused a fire.
Politics and diplomacy
A court in the Russian city of Novosibirsk has jailed 24-year-old Ilya Baburin for 25 years after finding him guilty of plotting an arson attack on a military recruitment office in Siberia in 2022. Prosecutors claimed he was working on instructions from Kyiv and accused him of treason.
Russian playwright Svetlana Petriychuk and theatre director Yevgeniya Berkovich went on trial in Moscow accused of “justifying terrorism” in an award-winning play about Russian women lured to marry ISIL (ISIS) fighters in Syria and jailed on their return. The two were arrested in May last year. Berkovich has also written poems criticising Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Stanislav Netesov, a 25-year-old Russian man who dyed his hair blue, green and yellow was fined 50,000 roubles ($553) by a court for “discrediting” the Russian army. In court, Netesov denied his hair colour was meant as a statement of protest, saying that he does not support either Ukraine, whose flag is blue and yellow, or the Russian army.
Karolina Lindholm Billing, the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR)’s representative in Geneva, told the AFP news agency that humanitarian aid to Ukraine was falling back even as the country’s needs were rising. The UN’s 2024 humanitarian plan for Ukraine amounts to $3.1bn this year, including $599m for the UNHCR. Lindholm Billing said the appeals were only about 15 percent funded in the first quarter of the year.
United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the US was continuing to provide evidence to the International Criminal Court about war crimes committed in Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the Reuters news agency in an interview that Western allies were taking too long to make key decisions on military support for Ukraine, and that he was pushing partners to get more directly involved in the war by helping to intercept Russian missiles over Ukraine and allowing Kyiv to use Western weapons against enemy military equipment amassing near the border.
General Charles Q Brown, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff and the country’s top general, said the US had no plans to send military trainers into Ukraine.
