THE PROMISE (2023, THAILAND)
Phu's (KITTIKUN TANSUHAS aka KUN) devotion to Nan (WATTIKORN PERMSUBHIRUN aka KIAK) during childhood. Continued all the way up to university until Phu (ready to reveal his feelings) saw Nan with Gigi and assumed the worse. Devastated he left a note claiming to be going to Melbourne, Australia to be with his mother (in the mini series)
However in the series. Phu and Nan got drunk. And Nan kissed Phu full on the lips and suddenly Phu decided to flee.
Here Nan is grateful to Phu's highlighting skills as it helped Nan with the test. Nan even thinks Phu got a look at the test beforehand. Phu calls Nan in close to reveal the truth.
"The teacher told us what would be on the test while you were sleep, idiot. 😂😂😂
Solid Friendship.

i think mostly we as a culture need to stop pretending media is for us and instead recognize that it's for the people making it. "the show didn't do the thing I wanted it to" is so not the point. did it do what the people making it wanted it to do? did it tell the story they were trying to tell? than it was successful. if that doesn't align with what you wanted to happen, don't get up in arms about it. don't badmouth the creators and throw a tantrum. that's what fan works are for. the text is the text, and it told the story it was telling. you wouldn't be like "ugh shakespeare is insane for act v btw like there was no reason for juliet to kill herself she should've just waited and then her and romeo could have been together wtf this ruined the whole play" like no!!! the themes were there the set-up was there the foreshadowing was there shakespeare did what he intended to. just because it wasn't a happy ending and just because you thought it should've went differently doesn't mean it was bad. read a fic where juliet lives and move on.

Broke (2016): BBC Sherlock is a phenomenal piece of media and anything that seems like a flaw just hasn't been fully explored yet
Woke (2020): BBC Sherlock is an incredibly flawed series run by an egotistical writer, it never deserved the hype and is actively bad on so many fronts (especially representation)
Bespoke (2024): BBC Sherlock is flawed and bogged down by increasingly poor writing, which many fans refused to see while it was airing, leading to hugely misplaced expectations (particularly for the final series), AND it has the seeds of some compelling characterizations and portrayals, some genuinely solid performances, and touches--albeit imperfectly--on complexities that are still being discussed today (particularly as it relates to the relationship between Sherlock and John). The huge cultural impact of the show has created a massive pendulum effect in its public perception, leading to most people today remembering a caricature of the show (whether positive or negative) rather than appreciating its nuanced merits and failings...that being said Season 4 sucked

Thought a little too hard about if Loki and Mobius were reunited and finally had what they wanted, and were then torn apart once again by some insurmountable force, and I honestly have a feeling that if Marvel ever brought them back that’s exactly what they would do

"Amestris is an allegory for nazi Germany" you fool. Amestris is not an allegory for just nazi Germany -- it's an allegory for genocidal, fascist, militaristic governments as a whole. Yes, it has parallels to fascist Europe, but it also has parallels to xenophobic militaristic US and imperialist Japan. The point is not "look at this outlier of a country committing atrocities," the point is that the country committing atrocities might be your country and you might be complicit in it no matter how morally upstanding you might think you are. To act like only one government is capable of committing genocide blinds you to the potential that any other government might commit genocide too.

The more I think about My Marvellous Dream is You, the more I think that Wan is right with her reluctance to confess her feelings. Because I don't think it's about them not knowing anymore. After that bathtub moment, I'm pretty sure they are both aware they have feelings for each other, they simply cannot be that oblivious.
And I don't think Kim is ready to face that truth. Whatever shit she internalised after her dad left, deep down she seems to be convinced that a relationship with Wan is not possible for her. She's terrified to make a selfish decision that will hurt the people she loves and she really believes that dating Wan will hurt her mother and risk Wan's career. (that the decision to marry a guy she doesn't love will hurt people probably feels not as real to her, because that's what being a people pleaser often is like)
I don't think that this is actually a situation where just one honest conversation would fix all the problems. Kim has some deep rooted trauma from her dad leaving and from growing up in a heteronormative society that also often punishes women for making decisions in their own interest.
I can see why people find this frustrating to watch (or that others might feel like the show doesn't convey its themes well enough) but to me, the more episodes we get, the more I feel like I understand what's happening with these characters and it feels very consistent and, sadly, realistic. This show is definitely not for everyone but I'm really glad it exists.
