I believe ppl have been discussing the name thing b/c a) some ppl use it to call her gendered insults (fair enough) and b) Freshman Year revealed Halflings are the colonized indigenous ppl of Solace and then that NEVER GOT ADDRESSED AGAIN (wild), so the question is "is it bad for us to shit on what may be an Ethnic Halfling name," b/c Penny+the Cubbys have very different names but are they products of assimilation, and do Halflings typically name themselves after items like how the Luckstones are named after a lucky rock, etc. That's also why it's hard to tell if she's supposed to be "white girl hates Affirmative Action" or "model minority punching down."

Making fun of someone's name in general isn't very nice but neither is grabbing them by the balls and putting a pistol to their heads. Of course, the first thing is a thing that happens way more often irl so it makes sense that people would be more rubbed wrong by it than this crazy pirate activity that is (hopefully) not happening in anyone's day to day life. But because the racial politics of Spyre isn't really something that's emphasized in play, I can't imagine the players are thinking any deeper than dunking on this very intense Keebler Elf sounding name that Brennan invented irl and then gave to a character designed to oppose them. They don't have the cultural context their characters would have. I don't think they'd be dunking on a whimsical sounding name if the setting was Unsleeping City and it was like, a traditional name from a real life culture.

The only times I can think of racial stuff explicitly coming up in the show is the halfling thing you mentioned and the fact that "evil races" are marginalized enough that there's literally a squad of undercover angels staffed by evil races for when they need an easily believable baddy.

Anyway, I guess my point is this very much feels like a situation where there is def a discussion that can be had on the topic but there's not a ton of material in the text to answer the question and, even if there was, it probably wouldn't be a one to one perfect representation of any real world thing anyway (in the same way that Helioism is obviously very based on Christianity and there are problems in the Helioic church that are analogous to irl problems with Christianity but it literally can't be the exact same thing because this is a world where their god explicitly exists with no faith needed to prove it and there is 1000% a hell you can go to for not following the rules and also your god is influenced by the opinions of the followers and there are other gods too and a WHOLE lot of other things that separate Heliosim from Christianity).

OMG I just finished reading the recent chapter (I had exams, so I took a long time to get to it) but ! recently keep thinking about how adult Sebastian and adult clora would react if they saw grown up Henry again years later. I think about how Henry would look like as an adult and how clora's rejection affected him one way or another

Like imagine, Sebastian and clora having to walk by a muggle area for work and suddenly seeing adult Henry with a woman that looks strangely like clora, and all Sebastian can do is grimace at Henry for not getting over clora after so many years have passed (but knowing Sebastian he'd probably be smug he actually got with clora, and not some copy of her)

first day

summary: you bump into pavitr in the hallway on the first day of school, and make a new friend.

genre: meet-cute, sorta? first meeting.

A/N: this is my first pavitr fic! a bit of a freewrite, just to get a feel for how I want to write his character and how he interacts with people. this was the easiest way to do that lol

You gripped the handles of your backpack as you weaved between bodies in the crowded hallway, eyes alternating between your schedule and the flurry of white uniforms. Unfortunately, your eyes remain on the folded piece of paper for a moment too long.

Your body crashes into something hard, nearly knocking you over before two strong hands grab your arms to stabilize you. 

“Whoah, careful!”

It was a boy’s chest that you had rammed into. He looks down at you with dark eyes, widened in surprise. You would come to learn that they always looked like that by default. Voluminous, ear-length hair fans out over one side of his face, just barely kept out of his eyes by a blue headband. When he let go of you, you stood stock-still with your shoulders tensed. The boy’s eyes flickered down to the wrinkled schedule you clutched in your hands.

“You look lost,” he said. “Where are you off to?”

Suddenly, you remember you have a voice.

“U-uh, I have Social Sciences, I think.” You hold up the schedule so that he can get a closer look at it, and his eyes light up.

“Oh, you have Mrs. Amma with me! I’ll walk you, c’mon!”

The boy’s hair flips and bounces with him as he spins around, not even checking behind him to see if you were following. You narrowly dodge a few students as you rush to keep up with him.

“I’m Pavitr, by the way,” he turns his head to meet your eyes as you walk to his right, as if he knew exactly where you were going to end up. “Pavitr Prabhakar. Yours?”

“Y/N L/N,” you reply. 

“Cute name, very stylish.”

This pulls a giggle out of you, and the corners of Pavitr’s lips quirk up. He looks proud of himself. 

“Same to you. Alliteration, and all that.”

“Ah, Pavitr, finally! I thought you were going to be late for the first time!” a woman’s voice calls out near you.

The two of you have arrived at the correct room number. A middle-aged woman stands at the front and smiles, jet-black hair with streaks of gray pulled back neatly into a low ponytail.

“Good morning, Mrs. Amma! I would never.” Pavitr beams and gestures towards you to come inside. “Come on, you can sit by me.”

You greet the woman as well before entering the classroom, more than ready to see that smile again every morning.

“Christopher,” Eddie exhales, voice barely audible. It hurts too much. 

“I thought I’d feel better because they’d comfort me, but all they do is make everything feel worse.”

“Okay,” Eddie mumbles. He takes the tub of ice cream from his son and places it in the overfull basket. Then he puts the basket on the ground. He pulls Christopher into a hug. “I’m sorry, Chris. I’m sorry it happened this way.”

Vaguely, Eddie is aware they’re having this conversation in the frozen dairy aisle of a grocery store. Not, like, a therapist’s office. Which is what he might have preferred. But, fuck it. Chris is ready to talk. 

“It made me sad for you,” Chris blubbers. 

“For me?” Eddie asks.

“Yes, you, Dad!!” Chris snaps. “Because I always had you to make me feel better, but who did you ever have? Did you ever feel okay?”

Eddie is shaking a little.

“You don’t have to worry about that, Chris.”

“But I am.” 

Fuck. Fuck, Eddie doesn’t know how to fix this. He doesn’t know what to do. It’s like Christopher’s brain has matured a big lunging step forward over the summer and he’s seeing Eddie as a whole person and Eddie doesn’t know what to do with that. He’s not supposed to be something Chris worries about. 

“Christopher,” Eddie says. “I… Okay, maybe you’re right. Maybe I’ve spent a lot of my life feeling kind of bad about myself. But I’ve got Buck and Bobby and lots of friends that help me. I’ve got you. Being your dad makes me so happy, okay? So you don’t need to worry about this.”

Christopher makes a small, frustrated noise. “And-and I’m working on it, okay?” Eddie reminds him. “I’m working on feeling better about myself, and who I really am, and not… Not hiding. And it’s going to be better. It’s all going to be better, and it won’t be like this forever, okay?”

Buck tries not to react. He hadn’t known Eddie was going back to therapy. Despite multiple suggestions from literally everyone in his life. 

“Cool,” Buck replies. 

“Where were you?” Eddie asks. 

“Mowing your lawn,” Buck replies. 

The city has regulations, after all. 

“Oh,” Eddie replies. “Fuck. Sorry, Buck, I…”

Buck squeezes his shoulder. “Don’t worry about it. Therapy is more important.”

That same night, the compliments sort of… Well, they amp up. They go from Buck being nice, to both of them being… Well, something. 

It starts innocently enough. Buck’s fault, as per usual.

“You look cozy,” Buck says as Eddie - donning an oversized sweater - flops down on the mattress to watch a show. They’re trying to catch up on old episodes of Hotshots, now that they know Bobby is going to be advising for the next season. 

Eddie looks down at the hoodie. “Oh? Uh, it’s yours.”

“Mine?” Buck asks. 

“Mine are in the laundry.” Eddie says. “Sorry, I can go home and grab more.”

“No, no, no,” Buck blurts. He doesn’t want him to stress or think he broke some sort of boundary. “You look good in my sweater.”

Eddie freezes. “I look good in your sweater?”

Fuck. Why did he say that?

“Uh, yeah. Sure. You look good in every sweater.” 

“Do I?” Eddie smirks.

Cuddling in bed on one those few days you both have off because everyone needs soft days there you and Souya lay horny but not in the mood for anything too rough. Actually you had a hard day yesterday leaving you more tired than usual and not up to the regular late night fun meaning both you freaks (lovingly) are more pent up than usual. Souya being the good and soft baby he is decided to be kind and help both of you get off and let you be the pillow princess for the morning. And that’s where you guys are half an hour later with a couple of orgasms under your guy’s belts and Souya’s legs wobbling like they’re about to give out on him as he rides you like there’s no tomorrow for the final time before it’s time for aftercare, but he’s determined to not let you do any work this time since you’re such an amazing person and is always caring for his needs so he needs to care for yours at least time to time in return. Once you both came and he’s almost passed out, you get up and take him to the bathroom for a nice long soak and some aftercare, him whining all the way that he needs to be the one helping and taking care of you, but of course you have to let him know that he’s done enough, that he’s not obligated to anything and that you love taking care of him so if he want s to make you happy he’ll allow you to do this. Finally he relents allowing you to start a very soft day.

It took me forever to finish because I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to end it also because screw life, but I hope you’re doing well!!!

hello, what’s this about awake craniotomies and clone chip removal? (I don’t follow you, I just saw your note in the reblogs and went “oooo this seems interesting!”)

Heyo! Of all the things I've commented on a post, I think this is exactly the one I expected to hear about the least lolol. I'm warning you, this is... a long post. It got away from me, I'm so sorry T-T (It's heckin long. I'm really sorry. I'll summarize at the top and you can read more beneath the break if you want.)

Long story short, I hyper fixated on this tiny little detail that really doesn't actually affect anything within the SW universe lmao.

TL;DR: The clones should be awake for their chip removal procedures with the exception of extenuating circumstances. Also, disclaimer, I'm not in the medical field, I just love research. If I get anything wrong, anyone is free to correct me :)

If you have any questions, please ask, I'm not very good at explaining things in way others understand at first. So it all makes sense to me, but you might not follow my leaps in logic 😅

Longer story: I was reading a fic this morning, and the clones involved got their chip removed. The text said something about 'waiting for them to wake up from the surgery', and it just kinda... idk, hit me that I have never ever read any fic where the clone doesn't have to wake up from being completely sedated for brain surgery.

Now, look. Write what you wanna write, like I said, it's not a big thing. But one of my neurodivergent quirks is that inaccuracy/misinformation/ignorance (willful or innocent) kinda bugs me? I like knowing that other people know things - know correct things. It brings me satisfaction and helps me sleep at night. So I kinda notice trends in what people seem to not/know.

My first thought when I realized the trend of complete sedation for brain surgery/chip removal led to me to draw two conclusions: a) As happens in fandom, most everyone just writes clones completely sedated for this procedure bc everyone else does. No biggie. It's easier, and again, doesn't really matter. b) Most everyone is working off misinformation pulled from inaccurate medical dramas and the assumptions made by the average fic writer. Again, not an issue. It's fiction. I just like... accuracy. So my brain took this and went ham.

Kay. So, there's this really cool thing about the brain that I'm starting to think isn't common knowledge? I'm kinda a nerd for weird medical things, and it's been a long time since my high school biology class where I first learned about this, so maybe it's just me. The brain doesn't have any pain receptors. None. Like, if you had just a living brain in the palm of your hand and you stabbed it or punched it or whatever, it wouldn't feel pain. Pressure maybe, since it still has touch receptors, but no pain whatsoever. The only pain receptors present around the vicinity of the brain are the ones around the brain.

This little fact led to a really cool and helpful medical advancement several years ago: this thing called awake craniotomies, or brain surgery where the patient is still conscious. The benefit is that it allows the surgical team to engage the patient and actively monitor cognitive function; this is a far step from waiting for the patient to wake up in order to determine if the surgeon done effed up and turned the patient into a vegetable - if they woke up at all, that is.

Originally this was practiced on epileptic patients bc, yanno, epilepsy. It's a really finicky condition, after all. Since then however we've managed to find other treatment options for epilepsy and other related conditions, so awake craniotomies (or conscious craniotomies as I call them, since it alliterates lol), so we've moved away from brain surgery there. Instead, awake craniotomies are now most often performed when removing or recessing a brain tumor. Again, it's a really finicky process, and the surgeon and their team really like being able to check on the patient during the whole process.

Before anyone freaks out about the pain receptors around the brain, there's an answer for that, too. A local anesthetic is used to completely numb the skull and scalp. Think of an epidural; it's the same idea.

Now, you may ask, how this all relates back to SW? Well, that's a great question lmaoooo. Now, in all of canon SW, there are only... seven (maybe eight) instances of a clone getting their chip removed. Tup, Fives, Rex, Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Omega (and Crosshair if his chip actually was removed like he said, I haven't watched TBBS2 yet). Actually, did Kix? I don't remember. Anyway.

I'm operating off the assumption that SW medical knowledge/tech is about equal to our own - i.e. that they still use many of the same procedures/practices/techniques for most things bar canonical exceptions. My friend in the server however pointed out that they weren't sure any clone medic could perform a complex brain surgery. Now, that's a fair point. The Kaminoans wouldn't care to teach the medics how to perform those surgeries on each other; they're products, they can be replaced, so what's the point?

But. Here are my counterpoints to that.

First. In the event of an emergency, it would only make sense that a clone medic be prepared to perform any sort of necessary procedure on a natborn officer or even their Jedi general/commander in the event they could not make it to a medical station or a proper surgeon in time. If there were natborn medics trained in complicated procedures and stationed on the ships, then there's always the chance there would be far more clone medics than them, and thus if they die, the clone medics would need to be able to step up in their place. So. Clone medics can probably perform brain surgery.

Second. With Fives, Rex, and CF99 (minus Crosshair), they remove their chips via surgical droid/machine. In fact, both Rex and CF99 do so on a GAR class ship. This shows that not only did the clones have access to the necessary technology, but it could also be easily operated. And not only that, but the only thing they needed was a program to locate and remove the chip. I think the importance of the program is that the machine itself can't perform a Level 5 Atomic Scan, so the program is needed to triangulate the position of the chip for the surgical machine itself.

Now. As to why an awake craniotomy is the way to go. Again, it allows the team to actively monitor cognitive function. Only in extenuating circumstances will the patient be completely sedated. This could be preference on the patient's part or due to certain circumstances.

Look at Tup, for example. His chip was rotting in his skull, and it's treated like a tumor (technically it is). Keeping him awake risked damage to himself and others. In light of this, it was safer for him to remain fully sedated. Additionally, he probably couldn't be revived completely either due to the already existent brain damage. This is an extenuating circumstance. Note however that there was still a qualified individual present for the surgery: the AZI droid maybe Nale Se, maybe Fives, I legit don't remember I'm so sorry). Now, there is another side to Tup's case: the Kaminoans. Nale Se wouldn't have cared for Tup's continued functionality; she only wanted his chip. She would have kept him sedated out of convenience, because the intent was always to have him decommissioned anyway.

Now for Fives. Fives learned about the chips. He had his removed. Who helped him? AZI. However, my theory here is that it isn't actually AZI performing the surgeries. I think he just... holds the programs for various surgeries and programs the surgical machine. We don't see anything of Fives' actual chip removal procedure, only the aftermath. I hypothesize that Fives was awake in the machine however, just properly anesthetized by AZI - who, as a medical assistant droid, would most likely be programmed as an anesthesiologist - and also observed by AZI. What I'm saying is that AZI probably was monitoring Fives' cognitive functions while he underwent an awake craniotomy to remove the chip in his head.

Rex. We know nothing about that procedure, just that it happened (unless we do, idk). Either another clone medic helped him and was there to monitor cognitive function, or Rex involved the help of another droid in order to be properly anesthetized for the process. Given the intense nature of the circumstances, he wouldn't have wanted to be fully sedated for the process in case he had to respond quickly to the chaos - which he did, leading ultimately to him and Ahsoka escaping with their lives. So, he wouldn't have been monitored (except maybe by a droid), but he definitely wouldn't have been fully sedated, either.

Then for CF99. For these procedures, we see Tech program the machine and then stand watch as they go in. They aren't sedated, with the technical exception of Wrecker (iirc, he was stunned unconscious). It's not just caution or paranoia that makes him observe, and not even just his knowledge of what's happening: it's procedure. He's there, as the only one who would know how to check, monitoring the cognitive function of his family.

Now, the conclusion, lol.

I mentioned my two hypotheses earlier about why fandom as a whole writes the clones being completely sedated. After going through all of this, I'm leaning more towards a simple abundance of misinformation. It's technically and tactically safer and more correct for the clones to be awake for their chip removals, and in fact seems to be subtly portrayed in canon (though it's really written in a way that can be interpreted either way).

The moral of this story is that TV medical dramas are shit and should never be taken at face value. Honestly. No one wakes up after CPR. They remain unconscious for a while. Defibrillation doesn't wake a person up, either. If you're hit hard enough to be knocked unconscious, you have a concussion. It takes seven minutes to kill a person by choking them, not seven seconds, but you can make them pass out in seven seconds if you apply pressure to the write spots on their neck in order to cut blood flow to the brain. Stuff like that. Oh, and yeah: awake craniotomies are a thing and are the safe way to remove a clone's chip.

Oookay, first up, a silly little experiment trying to draw in ZUN’s style (I think for the first time ever? I never did back in the olden deviantart days almost a decade ago now, wow) kicked off by me noticing that there aren’t any Touhou characters based off of kamaitachi (type of youkai, lit. “sickle weasel”, has sickles for claws and flies around in strong winds causing cuts in your skin which are actually just it cracking open from it being dry and cold), but the pokémon Sneasel is! So, Touhou Sneasel gijinka. I’m not 100% happy with the design, I think I could’ve been more creative with the head area for example, but I figure I’ll just fix it up if I ever draw her in my normal style. Didn’t put too much thought into my character; I’m sewing and I’m using Ephy as a pincushion (I did used to do this; his middle section is full of beans) and my title is just a pun on my name.

Speaking of names though, hoo boy I spent like two days crawling through Jisho for these (eternal disclaimer: I’m not a native or even particularly fluent speaker and don’t have a perfect grasp on what does/doesn’t sound natural in certain contexts; my name is deliberately silly though). Hitsuki’s last name was pretty easy, I just put together the kanji for “wind” (風) and “weasel” (鼬), using pronunciations that together sound like the word for winter, variable amount of extra u’s notwithstanding. For her first name I ended up using the first syllable of the kun’yomi for several kanji, which I think is a thing people do for girls’ names irl? So the first kanji is “conceal” (潜), part of the word “sneak in” that bulbapedia says is part of the etymology for Sneasel’s Japanese name, Nyula/Nyuura, and then it’s “claws” (爪) and “fangs” (牙), and then after I decided this I found out that Sneasel’s old pokédex entries talk about them hiding their claws lol. Also less of an influence, but Hitsuki sound like the word for “starting fires”, which is used metaphorically in at least one compound word to mean troublemaking, which seems appropriate. I couldn’t resist alliterating the title, though I super didn’t want to bother writing out titles in Japanese or figuring out abilities so I didn’t.

As for me, I found some fairly uncommon kanji I could stick together to sound like “Rendoufu”, which is close enough, and they mean “tangle/fasten with thread” (縺), “stab/prick” (撞), and “fabric” (布). And then Kit (the word kitto means “for sure” but also just the English word kit). So I named myself Sewing Kit in the funniest possible way I could find (which is why my names aren’t in Western name order; idk where the initial should technically go but eh), and then threw “picture/drawing” (絵) on the end for good measure. Ok that’s everything I think

"Ode to a Garbage Can": I put this one first in the compilation, because (imo) it shows Bob's and Milan's overall dynamic perfectly - Bob tries to be as positive and supportive of Milan as he can (although with a mild success), while Milan. . . Well, he's just being himself - extremely forward and harsh, but, in the end, not minding Bob's attitude, and even engaging in a playful back-and-forth with him. It's simple, it's nice and it's going to be a repeating pattern.

. . . Aaand it's probably the most analytical I'm going to get here. Probably.

Anyway, can't say much else about this one. They're silly

"A Crappy Question": Bob here sounds so genuinely guilty 😭. And the fact that he immediately tries to make up by helping Milan with his classes— it's pretty wholesome. . . Milan slapping the living shit out of him in the end isn't tho lol

"Get Your Finger Out of Your Nose": Milan calling out Bob on literally anything is also the main point of a lot of these. And, tbh, if I worked as a janitor somewhere, where mfs like any of ydkj hosts work, I wouldn't be so happy either bruh

Anyhow, the gross out humor in the end is nothing unusual for this game. But damn, the way Milan said "chucklehead" at the end. . . He loves that idiot I'm sorry 💥💥💥

Milan calling Bob "Robert" (which continues running joke of Milan calling Bob different nicknames). Milan sharing his collection with Bob, who seems to be not only interested in it, but also wants to implement it in the question. Bob being a clumsy ass moron and dropping the jar, with Milan following with his (almost) catchphrase "I'm not cleaning that". Milan sharing his culture with Bob and feeding him a homemade soup, with Bob being absolutely joyful and excited to learn new things from his favorite person (while also being taken care of by said person). Milan's little "jerk" at the end, that sounds just a bit too soft to sound like an actual insult, and more like an affectionate pet name. I love this. This is amazing. If this isn't not one of the most wholesome moments in ydkj series, idk what is tbh

"Little Red Outhouse": "Hey Milan, how you doing? Good to see ya 😁" "It's a pleasure for you to see me 😇" "Yeah, i— Uh what? 🤨" This is one of my favorite exchanges between them. Milan has such a way with words sometimes idk. . .

Not much to say about this one, except the fact, that Milan washes Bob's microphone in the toilet bowl, becomes much more disgusting when you know, that in one of the questions Bob smooches his microphone. You're welcome 😇

Are you named after anyone? >>> Nope! My parents had it down to two names and for the longest time I thought the other one was way better suited to me. The one that got away, if you will. I think the meaning of my name is kind of cheesy, but at least I'm cool with it now.

When was the last time you cried? >>> Hm maybe like a week ago, watching a movie (which wasn't even all that sad. I think I was happy crying for the most part, lol)

What sports do you play/have you played? >>> Currently taking a dance class, some yoga. I did karate for a long time before the worst of my teenage period got to me, but since then I haven't been all that active save for the occasional course. I do wanna get more into martial arts, though.

Because Stilton asked for lesbingqiu ideas on Discord last weekend. My brainworms got progressively more unhinged. In my defense, t was late, I'd had a couple of drinks in me, and I was gonna have MDZS Dragonji x Foxxian cosplay photoshoot the next day. XD

#1) Ikebana Peak lord Shen teaching her (deliberately) dense disciple who Really Does Not Know An Iris From A Rose.

#2) The Bimboification Of Empress Luo (And How She Met Her Consort Who Doesn’t Know She’s A Consort) I assume Bingmeimei is full-fledged empress by then. Perhaps cooking up a storm with all manner of rare (sometimes abyssal) ingredients (bc if anyone can make that stuff not only edible but delicious, it’s the protagonist and her cooking halo). And SY is all “ah, bingbing is such a lovely chef, her husband will be such a lucky man, able to eat her cooking all the time, this old woman is not worthy 🥹❤️❤️” levels of oblivious. And it reaches a point where Bingmeimei, at an utter loss, wonders if she can get away with orchestrating an entire wedding, and cooking for it, and shizun shows up presumably to see her beloved disciple off and be served tea, only to realise as they are being instructed to bow that she IS NOT THE ‘MOTHER’ OF THE IMPERIAL BRIDE, SHE IS THE WIFE TO BE OF SAID IMPERIAL BRIDE and Bingmeimei is just smiling happily all the while. Or something. Tags would be “crack”, “but not really”, “but still kinda”, “SY redefines oblivious”, “so yeah just canon level oblivious”, “SY will put up with all of Binghe’s nonsense”, “because simp”, “Binghe resorting to Yakety Sax levels of shenanigans”, “because when the going gets tough the tough use sledgehammers”. Alternatively, if less cracktastic, then perhaps Wife Plot #684, involving a temporary time-reversal curse of some kind meant to invoke Introspection and Mild But Ultimately Temporary Angst Whose Resolution Will Show Shizun The Light. #3) Bingmeimei accidentally gets transformed into The Tiniest Terror and only SY can get her to settle down (Bc I have de-ageing/kidfics on the brain recently.) MBJ (who perhaps remains male in this, bc of the hilarious juxtaposition of enormous demon king and teeny tiny little heavenly demonlette) is at his wits’ end until his hamstery little wife (bc, again, hilarious juxtaposition of tiny little petite human wife whose long, loose sleeves disguise SQH’s ARMmunition bc An Ding Peak cultivates The Swole Path have you seen those fucking carts of lumber) decides Shen-shijie is Best Suited For The Job and gets MBJ to teleport a mid-tantrum Bingmeimei into the bamboo house. Bingmeimei with her fluffy hair in loopy braids, following SY around SY absolutely dying from how cute Bingmeimei is. SY unable to stop thinking if this is what Bingbing’s daughter might look like. Idk how Bingbing Grows Up Again but when she does, SY wants to wife her up and have her babies, or something. Cue magical baby-growing flora or something? Momotaro/Kaguyahime foliage? Bc it’s not stealing ideas if it’s done by a hack author who desperately needs to pay the overpriced rent for her shitty apartment.

#4) Body-swap! By way of pollen from the Magnolia of Mirrored Minds (bc Airplane-juju was Feeling The Alliteration that chapter)! Or tea accidentally brewed using the Joined-Hearts Jasmine instead of regular-ass jasmine instead (or Chrysanthemum of Clarity)? And SY has to learn to look past The Accidental Friendzone? While Bingbing has A Talk with A Very Terrified System (bc Systems are not programmed to deal with threats from users that have the benefit of a Protagonist Halo)? And after the bodyswap, SY returns to her body and to a Much Improved And Very User-Compliant System, while Bingbing goes back to her body very satisfied with having put in its place the being that causes her precious Shizun much anxiety. A wedding is planned, and System002 very grumpily issues a [ Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! ] notification.

#5) Liu Mingyan Is The Best Wingwoman In The Three Realms Bingbing commissions her (via SQH, via MBJ) to write ‘Winter Peach Blossoms Upon The Tranquil Mountain’, a ballad/novel about an orphaned kitchen maid yearning after her secretly kind but publicly aloof Young Mistress Of The House, and how their forbidden love blooms when The Young Mistress is kidnapped one snowy winter and held in a cabin (with only one bed) upon The Tranquil Mountain and our earnest young ingenue maiden sets off to rescue her shizun young mistress from an extraordinarily beautiful bandit with a mole beneath one eye, and upon their return, the master of the house (the young mistress’ elder brother Qi-dage) has died and left everything to his beloved Jiu-meimei and she and the kitchen maid get married and live sapphically ever after.

The ballad/novel is a great hit and especially popular with Xian Shu peak disciples, spinsters and their dedicated handmaids, and brothel ladies.

Eventually, a sequel ‘Wine From The Twin-Pitted Plum Is Sweetest In Autumn’ is published following the wedding of Empress Luo and Peak Lord Shen. It isn’t a commissioned work but the empress receives an advance copy as a wedding gift.

All right [cracks knuckles] I'll start from the top.

Mass Effect (original trilogy): Commander Adriana Shepard. I named her after my husband because he introduced me to the game. NOT VERY ORIGINAL, but named with love? 🤣

Mass Effect Andromeda: Mara Ryder. I honestly cannot remember why I chose this name for her. Vibes, probably? I often just pick a name that "feels" right...

Dragon Age Inquisition: okay, I made up sooo many fucking Lavellans, and when I first started writing, most of them were just named after Game of Thrones characters. This includes Elia, Arya, and Lyanna.

(By now, you may have noticed that all my OCs have names ending in "a". I do like names ending in "a." I am consistent that way. 😂)

Athera Lavellan is the DA:I OC whose name is the most thought-out. I borrowed it from FenxShiral's Elvhen book of names, and it means 'part of a dream', which thematically tied into her romance with Abelas.

But then there's Tamaris, which is another name that I chose because of vibes (it "felt right"). I will admit that I know someone named Tamaris and I love the name, but I was also surprised to find that this is coincidentally a name from FenxShiral's name dictionary - a fact that I used in my fic of her and Felassan.

Dragon Age 2: Rynne Hawke. Her name was also chosen for vibes; 'Rynne' struck me as a kind of fun, playful name. I think in-world, she is named after a great-aunt. (It's been a while since I revisited her, I think this is the lore. 🤣)

Dragon Age Origins: Yara Mahariel. BACK TO THE TRIED AND TRUE METHOD OF USING GAME OF THRONES NAMES. 🤣💀

Baldur's Gate 3: my main Tav is Eilaena Valderol, aka Brynn Bladetongue. THIS WAS THE NAME I THOUGHT ABOUT THE MOST. Her birth name, Eilaena, is a drow name broadly inspired by the goddess Eilistraee. Her last name is her mother's name, which I used a D&D name generator to come up with. Her criminal alias, Brynn , was borrowed from an adventurer she admired who was a regular at the theater-tavern where she grew up. 'Bladetongue' is a stagename-like surname that she came up with; in her words, it's masturbatory (flattering herself for her silver tongue), and she likes the alliteration. She's half-wood elf/half-drow, and she purposely gave herself a human-sounding alias to fuck with people LOL.

My other BG3 OC is Tavanah. I liked the idea of using the default "non-special" name of 'Tav', but making it special by having her romance, Rolan, be the only one who calls her by her full name.

GENERAL NOTES: because kana characters are generally sounds that combine what we’d think of in english as consonants and vowels, they’re split up into groups based on that, and this song plays with that (there’s probably actual terms and a more concise way to say that but i’m no linguist lol). aside from where it coincides pretty well with the english vowels of AEIOU, i tried to keep the alliteration of the original lyrics, so this translation is a little more liberal and vibes-y!

I'm gonna send you another one after I've slept with a proper thought-out choice that is really about your fics, but I saw ✎ in the list and I couldn't resist :P

Trying to gain some insider info to use against me in the next exchange, I see. 😄😂

If someone were to guess an anonymous fic was mine, the easiest way would most likely be by looking at the tags themselves. I structure my tags very specifically, using the same types of tags on each fic (when on the timeline, POV, tone/genre, character & relationship modifiers, tropes & themes, minor things that happen, triggers, ending, format/structure tags, purpose/event tags, etc.), and in the same general order.

But as far as the actual writing goes, that is something a lot trickier to answer lol. As you know, I tend to write angsty topics (grief, tragedy, MCD, etc.), so the content itself could aid in exposing me. Also, I almost always write from either Phoenix's or Miles' POV, and almost everything I write has some Narumitsu element in it.

Another content thing is that I create and reference little memories (as well as items that represent those memories) for the characters in almost every fic I write. It's one of my favorite ways to flesh out a character's relationship with others and also to pull at emotions (especially if it's the case of a character remembering moments they had with a lost loved one).

For more mechanical stuff that could help give me away:

So far, I've only written in past tense.

Other than in rare occasions where there is no other way to say it effectively, I don't italicize a character's direct thoughts or write them in first person. Instead, I blend the character's thoughts in the internal monologue and narration and keep it in third person.

Along those lines, I put questions in the internal monologue fairly often.

While I don't use certain epithets (hair/eye color, profession, age, height, etc.) other than in select situations, I love using ones that show a relationship between characters (friend, partner, husband, father, sister, daughter, etc.)

I may use em dashes, colons, and semicolons more than the average person.

I use one-word sentences and one-sentence paragraphs quite often.

Not usually added until the editing stage, but when I search for synonyms, I'll usually pick words that will create alliteration (usually capping it to two or three words close together), but I won't pick an alliterative word over a synonym that works better (either more accurate or has the connotations I'm going for/gives a double meaning).

I use intentional repetition fairly often, especially in a character's inner monologue, to really draw attention/give more weight to something they are thinking/feeling.

If you see me start listing things, most of the time I will use the rule of threes.

That was what I was able to think of for now. But I'm sure there are things I do that I missed, or things that people have picked up on that I'm not aware of. It was fun to think about what I tend to do when writing that could give me away.
