Wait. Where are our manners? What we mean to say, of course, is well-come! A warmest, heartiest greetin' to you. We heard rumors of a bit of a kerfuffle, a bit of squibblin'-squabblin', a bit of bother down at The Old Mill. And by The Old Mill, of course, we mean those good folks over at #reddit, a nearby settlement, who seem to be havin' a bit of trouble with somethin' this that or other. Now, we's the types to mind our own business—other people's bother ain't nothin' to do with us—but we couldn't help noticin' an influx of weary, but cheery, travelers over at #196. It seems you folks in need of a place to stay. Well, we folks are awful gracious, awful magnanimous, if you whill, so I guess we've just gots one thing to say to all you new faces...

What's This Blog About?

The good ol' Red Wings. Those older eras for us, and everything like that. When Yzer was a player, and not a GM with some questionable workings kicking. Whatever on that though. Federov, Probert, Draper, etc, etc, etc. All of them

Why Not Use Your Main Blog?

I flood that blog so aggressively with reblogs of other hockey related posts and so on that I want somewhere more dedicated for this! Because I want to talk about this a lot. So! Only felt right I toss myself a bone and give myself another side blog to feed that.

What Will The Blog Contain?

Crazed ramblings of a madman, art, picture posts, maybe gif sets, edits, and so on! A little bit of everything. Everything I wanna make for the older wings and everything I can't help but speak about! Just a general hockey blog about older things, but with a twist of the artist touch.

Will You Live-Blog Here?

Most likely? No. This is more of a ramble place about the older Wings, not current. And while I pay stray into modern from time to time, as you must, it's pretty aligned with our old core and interesting players.

But big things happen with our Wings? Yeah, could see that!!

Why Did You Start This Blog?

While not always my favorite team in the world, it holds a very near place in my heart. They're both my home team and I have so many things related to them- Old things. Inherited treasures from my grandpa and all! Which I will for sure share here.

A whole signed stick, ticket from 2002, newspapers of the time, and so on- Everything. So I'll be sure to make that some of my first postings over here more likely than not!

What Do We Do Next?

I will be working on making this profile feel more like home- Profile picture edits and banner edits, making a header, and so on. Small details I really wish to commit to for this blog. Then we can get started on the actual posting!

We are having a lovely time in here. 🥹 And I wrote about 2,000 words of the next LC chapter today thanks to everyone!

I'm trying to make a concerted effort to update Lucky Child more frequently, and it's really helpful to have accountability buddies.

Are any YYH writers (or artists) interested in participating in loosely scheduled writing/coworking sessions? Probably via Discord. It would be helpful for me to have one or two a week if there are any takers.

If you know of any places that already do this, or if you'd also like to build a writing/creating habit, please lmk. I've been toying with starting a little community but IDK if anyone would stick to a schedule besides me, haha!

alright here's my idea - an au where jayvik meet as kids, with viktor working for a street magician, rigging all the fake tricks behind the scenes, and jayce as a little magic fanboy 🪄✨

some thoughts on this au:

jayce has been obsessed with magic acts ever since his life was saved by a sorcerer. there's a new performer in town who can do tricks no one else can, and jayce in convinced he must be the real deal. one day he sneaks backstage in the hopes of finding evidence of real magic, but finds viktor instead, who he assumes must be the magician's apprentice!

viktor is torn because he doesn't want to ruin this kid's enthusiasm, or risk losing his job by revealing the truth. but he also... really doesn't want to be a wizard. so he comes clean. (lol)

jayce is a little bummed to find out it's not real, but when viktor shows him how the practical effects work, jayce becomes enchanted once more. they look so convincing!! technology that can replicate magic?? he thinks that's brilliant.

from then on viktor has a little tag-along at all of their shows, and jayce even starts calling himself viktor's apprentice. viktor's embarrassed, obviously, but also undeniably charmed. he and jayce become friends, him teaching jayce about engineering and jayce (trying to) teach him about the arcane.

they are earth shatteringly adorable the entire time 😔
