was quite proud of this, so i thought why not post it? started this back in january, finished it a few days ago, right before our city had the biggest freak snowstorm and now all the april grass is covered in snow jack frost when i get you...

I remember reading Curse of the Warmbloods when I was 12 and feeling very sorry for Luxa because she was also 12 and that was the year I got my period and there were high chances that Luxa got her period while stuck in the jungle because that's prime menarche age.

If that had been me I would have started the war several months earlier.

I was compelled to make a lazy personal character guide + size chart of Twitchtip, Ripred, and Lapblood so below is a very long ramble on how I headcannon their looks because the brain rot is real and I don’t want to think about finals this week.

First things first: the eyes

I swear when Gregor meets Ripred for the first time he described his eyes as “glowing” so I decided to make that literal and give all (if not most) of the under-land creatures glowing eyes. I’ve been thinking about possibly mild color changes to the eyes but different shades of yellow seems good for now.

Now as for the actual characters starting with everyone’s favorite sassy scent seer Twitchtip!

TT: Shes tiny, flat out. There’s no way an 11 year old boy was able to hold onto a huge waterlogged rat and be able to keep his grip long enough for the rest of the questers to pull them out of the water so she’s tiny (Yes I know she was also holding onto him to but still). Would also explain why she can jump so high, tiny body, strong legs (fast runner too). Miiiight possibly make her a tad bigger since Twirltongue is supposed to also be small but eh. I was debating on making her some fun color or just a light shade of gray but decided the gray would be fine for now. I also see her as perpetually tired looking so eye bags for days.

The others are pretty straightforward.

RR: Big boi, even to the other rats. I was messing with his fur color and decided the dark bluish gray was perfect for him. Looks soft and fluffy but has pretty course fur, with a proper bath and grooming it would be much softer. Far more physically expressive then the other rats for drama points. Other then that, not much to say.

LP: I figured she would fall into the average category in terms of looks. Was also thinking of adding cool coat patters but eh it looked too crowded. She’s around the average height for a female gnawer and a few shades darker then Twitchtip. Constantly has a “I’m over this” look to her. Slightly less fluffy then Ripred but much softer.

Oh also different whisker looks for everyone because I find it fun.

It is very late, and tonight's angry eyes are for an incredibly low-stress reason:

Someone said Jason Sudeikis's accent on Ted Lasso isn't a "real" American accent.

Okay, first of all, yes it is. And second of all it is specifically what happens when a Bootheel Missouri accent hits the Midwestern flat for two generations.

And I saw someone else in the comments agree that it's clearly fake because Sudeikis grew up in Overland Park, which is a comfortable-to-wealthy suburb on the Kansas side of Kansas City.

Yeah, it's called signs your family moved for factory work after WW2. My dad's accent is a mix of Bootheel Missouri and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

It don't sound like Ted but it also sounds exactly like Ted.

Anyway, if you're gonna come for American accents, make fucking sure you understand the factory migration of the post-war years, or you're just showing your whole ass.

"Not a real accent." Bitch, I speak a combination of Ozark Mountains twang with flat Nebraska and my dad's combo accent. Don't pretend American accents are cofidied.

Ripred looks at Lizzie and sees his long dead daughter, a little codebreaker. He sees someone who is brave and smart, willing to go into a place she is terrified of for her family. He sees someone who has been kind when so few have. He sees someone who he must protect, must shelter from the cruelties, the loss, and the pain that his world provides. 

Ripred looks at Boots and tells himself he sees an annoying little brat. But in truth he remembers how she had toddled up to him when they had first met with no fear, and had smiled. He remembers how she had stroked his ears and patted his head in the jungle, and he remembers the horrible fear he had when he spotted her surrounded by those beautiful, deadly frogs. Ripred looks at Boots and sees a pure soul, a pure life, who loves without discrimination, someone he must protect, one he cannot allow to be tainted by the Underland. 

Ripred looks at Gregor, and sees himself. He sees a lost soul, wandering. Belonging for a time, but never truly a part. Separated by duty and responsibility, and the ever present Rager sensation. Ripred sees Gregor and feels rage. He sees someone he knows he cannot protect, but damn it he’ll try. And if he cannot save him from the horrors of the underland, he can at least prepare him. So he is honest, and he is hard. But he cares. He sees Gregor as someone he cannot protect, cannot shelter from the Underland, but perhaps he does not even need to.
