The power of mantras in Shiva meditation
Mantras, sacred chants imbued with spiritual significance, have been an integral part of Hindu meditation practices for millennia. For a long time, mantras have been a big part of meditation in various religions. They are powerful tools that help us connect to Lord Shiva's energy and make your meditation experience better.
Introduction to the "Om Namah Shivaya" mantra
Meaning and significance: "Om Namah Shivaya" is a mantra in Hinduism dedicated to Lord Shiva which is used for various purposes like meditation, chanting and devotional rituals. On being translated it means "I bow to Shiva," which shows respect, love and surrender to the divine power. This short mantra, consisting of five parts is known as the "Panchakshari," which holds the spirit of Lord Shiva and asks for his blessings and kindness.
Chanting and meditation: Reciting "Om Namah Shivaya" during meditation serves as a focal point, anchoring the mind and deepening concentration. When you repeat this mantra, it promotes the release of endorphins and other neurochemicals which provides happiness and relaxation.

Hey Meat! Currently combing through Matt Clayton’s Hindu Mythology: A Captivating Guide to Hindu Myths, Hindu Gods, and Hindu Goddesses and I was wondering if you could give like a little introduction to the main concepts/gods/goddesses? I’m seeing many terms like “the Veedas” and “the Shastras” as I go through it and I’m picking up context clues and I could probably google them but I’d like to hear from actual people and especially those who know and care deeply about these Myths (like you <3). So… can you help me? /gen
Heyyy Neptune! First of all I apologize it took me so long to answer you dfnsfjfdjg forgive meeee
I love how ardently you're researching Hinduism. I haven't really read his book, but I'll help you with giving you an overview of it, so to speak.
Firstly lemme tell you about the Vedic knowledge system, which consists of:
Vedas
Vedangas
Upavedas
Vedas: These are the oldest known scriptures of Hinduism. The religion has four Vedas, namely the:
Rig Veda (RV): book of hymns to the deities.
Yajur Veda (YV): book of mantras and worship rituals
Sama Veda (SV): book of chanting songs
Atharva Veda (AV): book of procedures of everyday life
Each of them have four subdivisions:
Samhitas (mantras, hymns, prayers and benedictions)
Brahmanas (explanations and instructions on performing Vedic rituals)
Aranyakas (texts on the meaning and symbolisms of rituals and ceremonies basically). They were mainly composed by sages who meditated in the wilderness, hence the name of the texts (aranya means forest in Sanskrit).
Upanishads (texts on meditation, philosophy and spiritual knowledge)
Upasanas (additional). These are texts on worship.
Vedangas: These are the six auxiliary disciplines of Hinduism, and are heavily linked to the Vedas. They are:
Shiksha: Study of phonetics
Vyakarana: Study of grammar
Chhandas: Study of poetic metres and rhythm
Niruktas: Study of etymology
Jyotishya: Study of astrology and astronomy
Kalpa: Study of rituals and guide to ritual instructions
Upavedas: These are texts regarding certain fields of work like:
Ayur Veda: Study of medicine and life sciences
Gandharva Veda: Study of music, art and dance
Dhanur Veda: Study of archery and warfare
Arthashastra: Study of business and administration
Speaking of Shastras, they are kinda similar to Upavedas, and deal with certain fields of knowledge, like we saw in the case of Arthashastra. There are many shastras:
Bhautikashastra - Study of physics
Rasashastra - Study of chemistry
Jivashastra - Study of biology
Vastushastra - Study of architectural science
Shilpashastra - Study of mechanical arts and sculpture
Nitishastra - Corpus on ethics and policies
Alamkarashastra - Study of rhetorics
Kavyashastra - Study of poetics
Sangitashastra - Study of music
Natyashastra - Study of theatre and dance
Yogashastra - contains instructions and teachings on yoga
Mokshashastra - contains instructions and teachings on moksha
Nyayashastra - contains instructions and teachings on justice, laws and judgement
Dharmashastra - contains instructions and teachings on dharma
Kamashastra - contains instructions and teachings on love, desire and pleasure.
And so on.
Then we have the Puranas, which are texts on various topics, usually legends and lores. A few examples are:
Brahma Purana
Vishnu Purana
Matsya Purana
Kalika Purana
Vamana Purana
Shiva Purana
Agni Purana
Bhagavata Purana
And so on. The latest Purana ever written was the Kalki Purana, which was around 400-600 years ago. It is believed that Ved Vyasa (the author* of the epic Mahabharata) composed all these Puranas as well. But many disagree.
*some believe Ved Vyas got Ganesh (the God of wisdom, success and remover of obstacles, and the son of Shiva) to write the Mahabharata for him. While some believe Ved Vyas wrote it himself.
Then we have the Sutras which are aphoristic (concise expression of a general truth/principle) texts. Some examples are:
Brahma Sutras
Yoga Sutras
Nyaya Sutras
Kama Sutra
and so on.
Then comes Itihasa (historical texts), which include the two major epics of Hinduism, namely:
Ramayana (composed by Valmiki)
Mahabharata (composed my Vyasa/Ganesh)
Read the epics I'll not spoil it for ya heehee
Now, for the Gods. Oh man there are so many, but not 33 crore (1 crore = 10 million), contrary to popular belief, but rather 33 types.
In the very beginning of the pantheon, the main Gods were:
Indra (god of thunder and rain and the King of Gods)
Agni (god of fire)
Mitra (god of friendship, sun, daylight)
Varuna (god of waters, oceans, night time)
Vayu (wind god)
Soma (wind god, also sometimes called the moon god)
Ushas (goddess of dawn)
Ashwins (twin solar gods of medicine and sons of Surya)
Surya (Sun god)
Rudra (another wind/storm god who later became another form of Shiva)
Vishnu (bro doesn't have any specific assigned field tbh)
And a few others like Brihaspati (Jupiter god), Pushan (solar god of meetings, marriages, roads and cattle), Savitr (god of speed and cosmos) and many others.
Now there was this supreme vague deity in the Vedas. It's not Brahman yet. They (for the lack of a better set of pronouns) appear later. But it is some kind of supernatural force that let to the creation of this universe, and was initially mostly referred to as Prajapati (sometimes it wasn't one being though, rather a group), from what I can infer. Some may even called em Purusha. In the link you'll also get the First Creation Myth of Hinduism.
There is also an agnostic section in the Rig Veda, known as the Nasadiya Sukta. In this specific section we know there's some form of a supreme deity, but it's very vague as to what it is.
Moving on, in around mid-Vedic period, Vishnu became heavily popular, and two new deities came into being, namely Brahma (who soon got the title of Prajapati) and Shiva (from Rudra because previously Rudra had an alternative name called Siva. So Ig that's where 'Shiva' stemmed from. But again not sure).
Vishnu and Shiva became extremely popular, to the point that they got an entire sect of people dedicated to each of em, hence Vaishnavism and Shaivism (respectively) were born. Vaishnavs heralded Vishnu to be the Supreme God, while Shaivites heralded Shiva to be the Supreme God. (Soon Harihar or Vishnu-Shiva sect also emerged where both the Gods were considered the same, and hence both were the Supreme Gods, or Supreme God, if we consider them one entity) But in the future we can see Vaishnavism took over the spotlight, and finally during the age of the epics, Sanatan Dharma was born, which eventually became synonymous with Hinduism, and now almost everyone considers Vishnu is the Supreme Lord (while many others consider it to be the Brahman, who Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma are a part of).
Vishnu actually gained the most popularity from the two epics that I've mentioned, and the first one is almost entirely surrounded around his avatar, Ram (yes he has avatars now). His most popular avatars include Ram and Krishna, and the latter has an entire organization dedicated to him (ISKON or International Society for Krishna Consciousness), and this org considers THIS avatar as the Supreme Lord, and actually considers Vishnu as his avatar, not the other way around. Krishna also appears in the famous Bhagavad Gita, which is the prime philosophy book of guidelines for the Hindus today.
Buckle up, it's about to get more confusing cuz now Vishnu is our main character for a while (bro has HEAVILY influenced this religion atp there's no turning back for him now). His evolution is so interesting cuz who'd have thought in the Rig Vedic times that he'd grow up to be THIS popular TOT. Not Indra for sure xD.
Anyhoo so about Vishnu's avatars. He has ten main avatars that appear through the cycle of Hindu Yugas (eras):
Matsya: Big fishiee. Some paintings portray him as a merman tho.
Kurma: Giant tortoise go brrr.
Varaha: A boar-man :D. Pumba's gunna vibe with him fs.
Narasimha: Very angy lion-man. Will be besties with Sekhmet in a heartbeat i just know it.
Vamana: Cute "lil" dwarf (covered the universe in three steps)
Parshurama: Appears in the Mahabharata
Rama: Main character of Ramayana (hence the name), and is the younger brother of Balarama.
Krishna: One of the main characters of the Mahabharata
Balarama/Buddha (sources vary)
Kalki (future avatar)
Now Mohini is the female form of Vishnu. Whether or not she counts as an avatar is debated. She's the goddess of beauty and a seductress that lures bad guys (mostly Asuras) and then kills them, or atleast teaches them a lesson (but she also attracts the devas sometimes. Shiva for example). So yeah.
His wife is Lakshmi, who's the goddess of wealth, fortune, power, beauty, fertility and prosperity. She also has avatars btw.
Now the Second Creation Myth is pretty messy. Different sects have different takes on it. Usually it is considered that:
Brahma created the universe (or universes in case of the multiverse version).
Vishnu preserves the universe
Shiva destroys the universe
This process is considered cyclic and after the destruction Brahma creates a new universe, and it keeps repeating.
The origin of these three gods are also debated. Some say Brahma created Vishnu and Shiva, some say Vishnu created Brahma and Shiva, some say Lakshmi created Brahma, some say Shiva created Brahma and Vishnu. Some say Vishnu and Shiva are two of the Adityas (comprising of Indra, Agni, Mitra, Varuna, Surya etc.), and hence the children of Kashyap and Aditi.
Quick desc of Shiva is that he's the god of destruction, rebirth, time, benevolence etc. He also has avatars, plus a female form, called Shivani. His wife is Parvati, who ALSO has avatars, primarily Kali, Durya, Gauri etc. Sometimes Parvati and Lakshmi's avatars overlap. Sometimes, Vishnu and Parvati's avatars overlap (like Krishna-Kali).
He and his wife have two sons- Ganesha (god of wisdom, beginnings, remover of obstacles etc.), and Kartikeya/Murugun/Skanda (god of war). Who's the elder one is debated but usually Kartikeya is considered older.
Also Brahma's wife is Saraswati (goddess of wisdom, knowledge, music, flowing water, abundance etc.), who was born from him. Bro has faced some issues with falling for ppl (women) he has created actually lol, which is why he was cursed by Shiva and even lost one of his heads, hence ending up with four heads, when he initially had five. Check this site out as to why he was cancelled by Mahadev (another name of Shiva).
Now we have two Holy Trinities:
Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva (However, Vishnu and Shiva are way closer to Indra, while Brahma's kinda like the dad of the group, yk)
Saraswati, Lakshmi, Parvati
Then we have the Devas and the Asuras, who can be compared to the Aesir and Vanir, in a way. The Devas are usually the benevolent one, who attained the amrit (elixir), while the Asuras are usually the antagonists. But tbh, in my opinion, both of these groups are morally grey as fock.
Parents of Devas (Rishi/sage Kashyapa and Aditi)
Parents of Asuras (Rishi/sage Kashyapa and Diti)
Diti and Aditi and daughters of king Daksha (one of the Prajapatis). The reason the Asuras turned out the way they did was cuz Diti approached Kashyap at an unholy hour, to put it shortly. Sources say she was also jealous of how Aditi's kids turned out, which might be another factor to how her kids turned out in turn (lot of 'turn's we're getting ahah)
They are described well in the Samudra Manthan, from the Vishnu Purana. Have a look.
Now see, this stark contrast between the Devas and the Asuras didn't quite exist back in the earliest Rig-Vedic period. In fact, some of the most prominent Devas were referred to as Asuras in the Rig Veda, most famously Varuna, who was actually referred to as the leader of the Asuras/Asuryas. Other Devas who got referred to as Asuras include Indra, Agni, Mitra, and a few others. So I have a feeling the concept of the modern-day Asuras didn't quite exist back then.
Now for the concepts of Hinduism, like Moksha, Dharma etc., I think I'll refer to actual practising Hindus to explain it to you, since they'd be able to explain them in a much better way. They can also add to my explanations of things, or correct me if I explained anything wrong. So I'mma tag em.
@kaal-naagin @zeherili-ankhein @inc0rrectmyths @randomx123 @ssj2hindudude @blue-lotus333 (idk if you're a Hindu but you still know a lot so) and anyone else who wanna join.

Wow! I loved that! Can I request a Part 2 of the Eri Reader with Platonic Yandere God and Human Fighters?
How does Thor, Zeus, Sasaki, Jack, Shiva, Buddha, Qui Shi Haung and Beelzebub feel about Reader using her Power to rewind their Opponent from Death? And how does Lu Bu (You don’t have to do him again if you don’t want to), Adam, Poseidon, Hercules, Raiden, Zerofuku (And I guess Hajun), Hades and Nikola feel about Reader rewinding them from their demise? (I don’t doubt Adam would feel incredibly honored that one of his children saved him, but incredibly worried over her health now that she’s suffering a high fever) it doesn’t help that a lot of Deities desire to use Reader for their selfish interest and would try to kidnap her (Which fail)
Reader mostly spends her time with the Valkyrie Sisters who are eternally grateful to her because they also rewinded them too from death (Goll is sobbing hysterically thanking Reader) who all like to dote on Reader with love, affection and treats
I love Eri SO much (She’s so perfect and her smile must be protected at all costs)
-You didn’t like this tournament, your family was fighting against each other, hurting each other, killing each other!
-You didn’t like it when Thor killed Lu Bu, you had brought him back, but cried for hours as you had thought that you had lost him.
-So many wanted to call this whole tournament off, seeing the anguish it was causing you.
-After each fight you would use your quirk to bring back the fallen opponent, as well as the valkyrie if a human was the one killed, doing it in the privacy of Zeus’ viewing room, as you were still being hunted by other deities, who want you for their own selfish reasons.
-However, with each person you brought back, your body was getting weaker. You would get a fever after each revive, each one worse than the last.
-Adam was nearly beside himself, in tears as he held your little hand at your bedside, Zeus sitting nearby, getting patched up, feeling guilty as well that he was the one who made this tournament.
-He wanted to end it, as did Brunnhilde, but the other gods, who were after you, demanded that the tournament keep going and they were left with little choice.
-Poseidon stunned all when he held you himself after you brought him back, holding you to his chest, listening to your breathing as Kojiro sat next to him. Poseidon had to admit to his former opponent, “You were quite strong human-err Kojiro.” Kojiro put a hand on the god’s shoulder, comforting him and Poseidon stunned everyone again by not saying anything.
-The fever you got bringing Hercules back was one of the worst, as you made it worse by sobbing so much that the valkyries in the infirmary actually had to sedate you and knock you out.
-Hercules cried as he held you when you woke up, clinging tightly to him as apologies fell from his lips like a mantra. Jack was so indebted to you, bringing Hercules back, hugging you once he was able to get you away from Hercules for a moment, his hug was so warm that you actually felt yourself dozing off.
-Shiva felt awful, making you cry, he felt so much regret as you ran to him, crying to see him in so much pain, using your quirk on him first. Once his arms were back, the first thing he did was hug you with all four of his arms, clinging tightly to you as he sobbed, apologizing.
-His family was quick to join in, including Rudra and the other strongest of the Hindu gods, giving you more family members.
-Raiden was silent as he held you to his chest, wearing a yukata as you were working through another fever, an IV in your arm as you were dehydrated from crying so much and from the fever.
-Buddha felt guilty, unable to face you after he had to kill Hajun, after he took over Zerofuku, killing Zerofuku along with him. You were the one to seek him out, Brunnhilde taking you to him, and he cried as you cupped his cheeks, comforting him when he should have been the one comforting you.
-Hajun and Zerofuku were now two separate beings, nobody was really sure how it happened, but they didn’t care. Zerofuku picked you up, once your fever was gone, spinning you around, holding you up above his head, your bright giggles filling the air.
-You were a little shy meeting Hajun, as he was new, and very large and a little intimidating looking, but he was so gentle with you, picking you up and hugging you to his chest, thanking you softly. Your little hands on his cheeks brought him so much happiness as he closed his eyes, allowing you to do as you wished, silently swearing his life to you.
-Qin Shi Huang knew regret, he had so many things in his life that he regretted, making you cry quickly topped the list as he held you tightly, sitting with you next to Hades who was just waking up in his own infirmary bed.
-Hades immediately called a meeting, absolutely furious that they all were putting you through something so traumatic.
-The gods who were after you were getting bolder, trying to break into the infirmary while you were resting, but those you brought back were guarding you fiercely.
-Beelzebub and Tesla were the last fight of Ragnarok, after you brought Tesla back, you immediately collapsed, your heart rate slowing from your fever.
-Tesla was the one who remained by your side, monitoring your vitals until Beelzebub came in, severely bandaged up and Tesla helped his friend to your bedside, to sit with you as well.
-Beelzebub couldn’t help but tear up, seeing you in such a state, feeling just a pure love for you, wanting to see you awake and happy again.
-The strongest gods immediately called a stop to the tournament while the valkyries were working hard to stabilize you, deciding that, as gods, they needed to step up and do what they should have been doing all along, managing the humans, guiding them, protecting them, and only punishing those who needed it.
-Many were annoyed at first, wanting to see more carnage, until the gods who had fought gave impassionate speeches, hyping up the gods to be the gods they should have been all along.
-The humans were quickly fired up, hearing the gods declarations, which shocked the gods but made them feel honored that the humans believed in them to help them, giving each other a second chance.
-Goll was the only one with you when you woke up 4 days later, crying harshly, but she was happy as she hugged you carefully, “They stopped the tournament! They’re not going to fight anymore! My big sisters and all of the gods and humans are safe!”
-You were quickly in tears again, hugging her tightly as she laughed warmly, the two of you celebrating that nobody else was going to be lost.
-Goll opened the infirmary door, once you were cleared, but given strict instructions to not use your ability for at least a month, which you pinkie promised to the nurses, after Goll told you what a pinkie promise was.
-Your eyes went bright, seeing Odin first and you immediately ran over, and he grinned softly, kneeling down as you leapt into his arms, no longer afraid of him as he held you tightly, a sigh of relief leaving him before he ruffled Goll’s hair affectionately, “C’mon, let’s go see the others.”
-You nodded and your face lit up when you saw everyone waiting for you, Odin setting you down and you ran for Tesla, as you hadn’t gotten to see him after you brought him back.
-He laughed warmly, kneeling down and catching you in his arms, hugging you tightly before he grabbed Beelzebub, pulling him forward and you hugged him around his knees, making him chuckle softly, patting your head.
-Ares picked you up, putting you up on his shoulder, “Come see all the hard work we’ve done, Y/N!” as they all headed out to the Greek pantheon, so you could see that gods were doing their jobs, helping humanity like they should be, working together.
-Zeus ruffled your hair gently, “It’s all because of you, Y/N, you inspired us to get off our butts!” your eyes sparkled up at him, “Because of me?” he immediately collapsed, holding his chest, unable to handle your cuteness as many others laughed at his antics as your family was quickly all praising you for your hard work in helping humanity, making your cheeks turn a bit red, bashful at their praise, but you couldn’t help but smile, feeling so happy.

everyone and their mother has probably already deciphered the four (seemingly!) nonsense mantras in the viva la liberation lyrics, but i'm tossing my hat into the ring anyways. here's an unprofessional dive into their potential meaning, listed in the order they appear in the song
भूतल (bhūtala) = surface of earth, the world
वितल (vitala) = an abyss, second of the seven netherworlds. ruled by hara-bhava and his consort bhavani, their sexual fluids create a river in the realm (this is relevant i promise)
My interpretation: Amahiko wishes to make our world (Earth) like Vitala, as supported by the following lyrics, "So that this world, whom He brought life unto, may overflow with the Spring of Love*." This also fits in with Amahiko's vision of an Ecstasy World. (*As I interpret, refers to the river in Vitala formed by the two lovers whom rule it.)
गपड़चौथ (gapaṛacautha*) = mess and medley, confusion and disorder
(*gapara is possibly a fragment of this word)
गुहेरः (guheraḥ) = a guardian, protector
My interpretation: In context to the lyrics that follow ("To give up your body, which He has bestowed upon you, to the fruits of desire"), Amahiko seems to be describing a sort of destruction/chaos of the senses which hold you back from acting upon primal desires.
and for the infamous line everyone knows...
ぼぼん (bobon) = i've heard this is a variant jp sound effect for "boing"? springing up???? searching only brought up bobongalinga.
लिंग (liṅga) = phallus deity which represents lord shiva in hindu religion, also used simply to refer to a penis
My interpretation: He's describing an erection. That's all I can say.
हरे (harē) = used as an intro to a call (i.e., "O, [deity's name] hear my prayer.")
रमैया (ramaiyā) = Rama, the Lord Almighty
My interpretation: Honestly, nothing to interpret at all from the phrase itself once we piece it together. It basically translates to, "O, almighty Lord Rama!" However, the choice of Rāma in particular is interesting.
Rāma (the seventh avatar of Vishnu born to human parents, and also the central character of the Ramayana) was born into a royal family, but faces a journey filled with many difficult circumstances during a years-long exile. I think there are some parallels to Amahiko's familial circumstances here, what with the noble and wealthy family.
Adding onto this, the choker in Amahiko's Charisma Break outfit features a bow and arrow. This can be a reference to Eros (the Greek god of sex) as he is also mentioned in the lyrics, but it can also be yet another callback to Rāma, whose iconography includes a bow and arrow.
thank you for reading! i don't think i really have a conclusive statement to any of this, but it was fun to analyze how his mishmash mantras actually had relevant meaning to them

Anaya Nayanar, also known as Anaya and Anayar, is a Nayanar saint, venerated in the Hindu Shaivite sect. Anaya is considered to be the 14th of the 63 Nayanars. His playing of the Panchakshara (five-syllable mantra 🌟na, ma, śi, vā, ya🌟) on his flute so pleased the god, Shiva, that he took Anaya away to the eternal world.
🌟
The life of Anayar is described in the Thirutthondar Puranam (Periya Puranam) by Sekkizhar, which documents the Histories of the 63 Nayanmar. Anaya is described as a cowherd (ஆயர் or Aayar). Anayar was born and lived his life in Tirumangalam (Thirumangalam), currently in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Tirumangalam is a place of pilgrimage, famous for its Samavedeshvarar Temple, dedicated to Supreme Lord Shiva. Aanaayar used to tend cows. He used to take the cows for grazing in the pastures outside of the town. He used to protect the cattle from disease and beasts of prey. Anayar used to smear Sacred Ash on His body. In the meadows, He used to play the Panchakshara (Five-Letter) Mantra of Supreme Lord Shiva on his flute. Music was his way of worshipping Lord Shiva. A verse from Periya Puranam tells about how he crafted a flute from bamboo, as prescribed in the science of music (Gandharva Shastra).
🌟
One day at the onset of the monsoon, Anayar started playing the Holy Five Letter Word on His flute under the Konrai tree, which is sacred to Lord Shiva, in a garden of blossoming konrai trees. The Periya Puranam devotes several verses to describe the natural beauty of the location.
✨Aanaaya Naayanaar spread sweet melody all aound, playing on his flute with supreme skill, according to the prescribed technique. The basic note of the music - Panchaakshara - streamed sweetly like celestial nectar mixed with honey into the ears of the listeners. Entranced by this the herd of cows forgot to chew the cud, after cropping the tender shoots of grass; the little calves with mouths on the udders of the cows let the foaming milk drip down on the ground; the might-horned bulls and the wild animals like the deer came near, with the hairs of the body standing on end. The dancing peacocks stood still; the flocks of birds with their hearts filled with melody, kept quiet as in a swoon; the herdsmen left tasks incomplete. The 'Naagas', inhabitants of the underworld came out of their caverns; the celestial ladies gathered in the heavens and stood quite charmed; the other denizens of the outer space - the Gandharvas, Charanaas and the Kinnaras - too crowded the sky in their chariots. The heavenly damsels feeding their pet parrots on nectar under the shade of the Kalpaka tree, hurried to drink in the sweet music. Both the weak and the strong were caught in the same spell - the serpent with the venomous fangs leaned gently on the peacock; the unmoving lion and the huge tusker kept company; the deer with the grass in its mouth stood by the side of the tiger. ✨All nature too came under this spell - the wind ceased to blow and the blossoming branches of the trees stirred not; the streams and brooks meshing down the mountain stopped dead in their tracks; the clouds lay quiet and shed no drops of rain; the lightning did not flash and there was not a ripple in the wide seas. ✨Thus all things - movable and immovable - lay ensnared in the mesh of the nectarine music that flowed from the sweet-red lips of Aanaaya Naayanaar touching his flute. ✨Ah, the sweet music welling up from the gushing love of the player for the feet of his Lord, which filled earth and heaven then filled the ears of the indwelling Lord dancing in the Golden Hall, hard to reach for all those lacking in real Love.
✨Next, the Lord, with His consort, the very soul of compassion - He from whom all sound and music arise - the three-eyed Supreme being - appeared in the heavens, seated on His Bull-Mount. ✨His crowding hosts kept utterly quiet, so as not to disturb the music of the Panchakshara which the dancing Lord relished so much! ✨The Lord then declared: "Come unto Me, in the same pose as you now are, to enable the righteous devotees to savour your music ever" ✨This Naayanaar willingly complied! ✨The celestials rained flowers on earth; the sages chanted the Vedic hymns, while the flute continued with melody. ✨The Lord and His devotee then entered the Golden Hall at Chidambaram.
🌟

Who are the 4 elemental kings? Can you tell something about them?
Idk lol, we don't really have much concrete information on them as far as I'm aware. Let's see, things we know:
They're great beings that lie deep within the astral realm, Schierke can call on them for protection, east is air, west is water, south is fire, north is earth, she says they're the 4 cardinal angels of holy see scripture, she says they love and protect people, their elemental vibes can be seen when Elfhelm is destroyed so they were likely somehow involved with that... that's all I got.
I don't remember if they're discussed at any point other than the troll sequence, so that's where these facts come from, aside from the Elfhelm bit.
And I've metioned this recently but my pet theory is that they're another aspect/form/face/whatever of the Godhand:
both they and the Godhand are described as Holy See angels, they're both collections of four great beings that lie very deep within the astral realm, their physical representations are kinda abstractly similar imo (air = ubik floating around; slan = fire, she's the goddess of flames in the conviction arc; conrad = water, depicted as encased in a swirl of water that evokes conrad's like exoskeleton if you tilt your head; earth = void with that halo around his head that imo evokes void's collar), and a lot of what Schierke says about them can be read with a darker dual meaning if you understand that God = the Idea of Evil.
Schierke invokes God while discussing them with the priest, which associates the spirits with God. "God's name belongs only to God. It is not for man to discuss." She mentions "the arcana of invocation" and a behelit-opening is called an "invocation of doom." She also says, "The mantras chanted may differ, but are not souls in want of salvation the same?" Something we've already seen "chanted" by souls who want salvation is "I sacrifice." And this whole speech is about how these spirits are viewed as different things by different people but they're essentially the same. "To divide and oppress people because of those differences is folly," Schierke says, which is a theme that returns to the forefront when apostles and humans join together to defeat Shiva and Falconia is founded.
SO I think it makes sense. It's the kind of thing that I imagine Miura withdrew the lost chapter for, because it gives these dual meanings away too early.
I mean idk for sure and it's just a theory, and a lot of it is based on specific wording which is always pretty dicey when it comes to translation. But I love the concept and I think it fits Berserk thematically like a glove.
Thanks for the ask!

What is Power of Raam Naam
As we all know Rama is a two letter mantra derived out of the ashtakshara (Aum Na mo Na ra ya na ya) and Panchakshara (Na ma Shi va ya).
Once Goddess Parvathi asked Lord Shiva how can a lay man achieve the benefits of reciting Vishnu sahasranama which is basically read by learned schlors.
For which Lord Shiva answered: "Keno Payena lakuna vishnoor naama sahasrakam - Patyathe pandithair nithyam srothumicchyaamyaham Prabho". "Just by reciting rama rama rama. Rama nama has the essence of Vishnu sahasranama or 1000 names of Lord Vishnu".
This is told in the sloka "sri rama rama ramethi rame rame manorame sahasranama thathulyam rama nama varanane"
Rama nama is so sweet as a nectar. It gives happiness to the mind.
Whatever comes in our way as an obstacle, Rama namam will protect us.
What we desire to have, we get it,that is the prowess of the nama.
The celestial s too sing the pride of this taraka mantra and it installs bravery in one's heart
The power of Rama nama is depicted by Lord Hanuman (Ever living - chiranjeevi). He crossed the ocean by chanting the Rama nama. Rama built a bridge across the ocean to reach Lanka, but hanuman just like that crossed the Ocean by just chanting Rama nama. So this means, Rama nama is mightier than Lord Rama himself.
Let us all chant, Hari and Shiva who are one and Rama nama gives happiness both in this birth and in the next birth. It erases the difficulties of the devotees, cures the illness. Let us all chant the nectar like Rama nama daily and get his blessings.
Every other mantra in our scriptures have their own names. Rama Nama is the only Mantra that is called ‘Taraka Mantra’. The word ‘taraka’ means the one that helps us cross. It helps us cross the ocean of ‘samsara’. It helps us cross the cycles of birth and death. If it is chanted as ‘Rama’, then it is a Nama.
If it is chanted ‘Ram’, then it is a Mantra.
Our ancient Sages and Rishis have glorified the Rama Nama.
Rama Nama gets exactly the same importance in Saguna Upasana (worshipping the Absolute Truth as a Being with a form) as does the Pranava (‘Om’) Mantra in Nirguna Upasana (worshipping the Absolute Truth as formless).
Rishi Manu shows that the Rama Nama has links to all the other mantras that ever exist.
In Syavana Smriti (Syavana is the name of a rishi), Syavana says that the Rama Nama is the essence of all the Vedas, Shastras, Itihasas and Puranas.
Sage Vasishta meditated on the Rama Nama for quite a long time. Hence he wanted to name the Almighty with the same Mantra that he had chanted.
THE YOGA CONNECTION
In the philosophy of the Yoga, ‘Ra’ is considered the ‘Mooladhara’ (the point of origin of the power of Kundalini) and ‘Ma’ is the ‘Sahasrara’ (the destination). Hence, when the Rama Nama is chanted in the right tone and manner, the serpent power rises and hits the head or the ‘kapala’ Thus, by merely chanting the Rama Nama, one can become a Yogi.
In Vishnu Sahasranamam, Lord Siva asks Parvati to chant the Rama Nama all the time. A good teacher is the one who practices what he preaches. It is obvious that Siva, being the Supreme Guru, (Jagadguru) Himself chants the Rama Nama. When parents do something noble, would not the son follow the same? Muruga and Ganesha chant the Rama Nama always. That is verily their ‘Kula Mantra’.
Sage Vishwamitra took Sri Rama and Lakshmana to the forests for ‘yagna samrakshana’ (protecting their fire austerities from the demons). Out of the boundless love for Sri Rama, Viswamnitra wanted to gift Him something. A sage that he was, he had no worldly possessions, nevertheless, he had performed an abundance of austerities. He had penanced for a very long time on crores of ‘Devatas’ with mantras for each of them. He initiated Sri Rama with these Mantras.
As soon as the Mantras were initiated to Sri Rama, the ‘devatas’ appeared before them! Viswamitra was jealous of the fact that those devatas who could be invoked by him only after severe penances, now appeared the instant Sri Rama chanted their Mantras!
In our Shastras it is prescribed that when the devatas are invited, they can be installed in one of the three — water (that is the reason we install ‘kalas’ – pots of water for japa, kumbabhishekam and the like), fire (that is the reason we perform homam) and the third being, installing them into one’s own body (during Sandhyavandanam, Goddess Gayathri is installed thus). Here, when the devatas were invoked, they refused to go back to their abodes. Hence Sri Rama invited one and all of them into his body. Thus, by merely chanting the Rama Nama, one gets the benefit of invoking all the 33 crores of devatas as well.
Ramayana is filled with instances where merely the Name ‘Rama’ has solved so many miseries and disentangled so many situations.
ONE NAME FOR ALL GODS
Generally, people can be divided into two broad categories: the Shaivites, who worship Lord Shiva as the supreme, and the Vaishnavites, who worship Lord Vishnu and His forms as the Supreme Being. The most significant Mantra for any Vaishnavite is the ‘Ashtakshari’ (it contains eight letters in Sanskrit) mantra ‘Om Namo Narayana’.
The chief among the Mantras for the Shaivites is the Panchakshari (5 lettered) mantra, ‘Om Nama Shivaya’. Without the letter ‘ra’, ‘Narayana’ would read as ‘Nayana’ that means one without a way (‘gati’); without the letter, ‘ma’, ‘Namasivaya’ would read as ‘Nasivaya’ that means inauspicious.
So the jiva akshara (life-giving letters) ‘Ra’ and ‘Ma’ of these two Mantras are put together to form the Rama Nama! Anyone chanting this Divine Name thus worships both Shiva and Vishnu at the same time.
Also, Here its is
One very famous and old true incident of 15th century!
Once there was a very wealthy Seth (businessman) in the current Uttar Pradesh. He was suffering from leprosy disease (vitiligo as we say white spots) for long time and therefore he plans to end his life by taking Samadhi in Ganga Ji.
He along with his family members and friends came to Ganga river and they saw Kamaal. (son of Kabiradas Ji)
Kamaal inquired about everything and smiled.
Kamaal: Seth! What if I remove this leprosy completely from your body?
Seth: I will give half of my wealth to you Maharaj instantly.
Kamaal: Keep your wealth with you. I don't want anything. Just chant Ram once from the bottom of your heart and take a dip in Ganga.
Seth did what Kamaal told, but nothing happened.
Kamaal: You didn't chant Ram from your whole heart. Do it one more time and take a dip.
Again! Nothing happened.
Now Kamaal asked him to say Ram for the third time and while Seth was taking a dip, Kamaal hit his head with a wodden stick.
Seth was horrified and terrified due to this sudden attack and he cried out Ram naam from the bottom of his heart finally.
And magic happened!
His leprosy disease vanished completely.
Kamaal was very happy seeing this and he hurriedly came to Kabiradas Ji and told him everything.
Kabiradas Ji was very sad hearing this that Kamaal had to take Ram naam for 3 times to cure a disease.
Saying Ram for 3 times for such a small purpose made Kabiradas Ji very angry.
He sent Kamaal to Tulsidas Ji who was Param Ram Bhakt with a letter.
Tulsidas Ji read the letter when Kamaal came to him and it was written:
“Dooba Vansh Kabir Ka Upje Poot Kamaal”
“Teen Ram Ke Naam Se Kodi Kiyo Bahaal”
My lineage has drowned when son like Kamaal born who had to take 3 Ram nam for curing a leprosy disease.
Tulsidas Ji smiled and ordered that whoever wants to cure leprosy disease gather at my ashram.
Around 1k patient of leprosy disease gathered from many villages.
Tulsidas Ji came and chant Ram naam only once on the water in his hands and then sprinkled that water on those patients.
And again magic happened!
Every single patient became disease free. Leprosy was vanished from each and everyone's body.
Kamaal returned home and told the incident as it is to Kabiradas Ji.
Kabirdas Ji was not satisfied even after that.
He sent Kamaal to Soordas Ji who was Param Krishna Bhakt.
Soordas Ji was laying on Raman Reti and his eyes were full of tears of love of Govind. He was in dhyan avastha.
Kamaal went to Soordas Ji and told him both the incidents briefly to Soordas Ji.
Soordas Ji: Look at the Yamuna river Kamaal. There is a dead body flowing in it.
Kamaal: Yes! There is a dead body. You doesn't look blind to me at all!
Soordas Ji: (smiling) Take that body out from the river and bring it to me.
Kamaal took the body out and took it before Soordas Ji.
Then Soordas Ji with his heart full of love amd bhakti of Govind, chanted Ra only out of complete Ram and suddenly the dead body became alive and that man stood in front of everybody like he's waken up from a long sleep.
Again magic happened!
Saying half of Ram naam can make a dead into alive!
Valmiki became like a God by chanting Ram naam backwards.
Shri Hanuman Ji Maharaj control Shri Ram himself by continuously chanting Ram naam.
Shri Mahadev took the Halaahal poison and it became an ornament for him because of continous Ram naam jaap.
new
Lord Rama is the Supreme Lord himself and any paraphernalia associated with him has his qualities invested in them, then what to speak of his holy name!
In Bhagavad Gita (10.25), Lord Krishna says as follows:
maharṣīṇāṁ bhṛgur ahaṁ girām asmy ekam akṣaram yajñānāṁ japa-yajño ’smi sthāvarāṇāṁ himālayaḥ
Of the great sages I am Bhṛgu; of vibrations I am the transcendental oṁ. Of sacrifices I am the chanting of the holy names [japa], and of immovable things I am the Himālayas.
From this, we can understand that the chanting of the holy names of the lord hold the highest position amongst all other forms of sacrifice.
Why is that? you may ask
It is explained in the scriptures that the Lord has invested all his energies and glories into his holy name.
There are some practical examples where it has been shown that the holy names of the Lord are very powerful, and in some cases, even more powerful that the lord himself!
Evidence from Scripture In the phala sruti of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama, it is said as follows: sri rAma rAma rAmeti rame rAme manorame sahasra nAma tat tulyam rAma nAma varAnane As stated by Lord Siva to PArvati - if you just chant the name "Rama",it is equivalent to chanting the 1000 names of Sri MahA Vishnu"
The Transformation of Valmiki There lived a dacoit in the treta yuga who was quite proud of his profession. One day he happened to come across a few sages. Even though he knew they would not have anything of much value to him, he decided to try his luck by approaching the sages with the intent of robbing them. The sages asked him if he was aware of the amount of negative karma his actions would bring him, to which he replied that he only had his family’s best interest in mind. The sages then advised him to ask his family members if they would be willing to share the results of his impious acts. When he asked his family members this question, they laughed and thought he was stupid to even ask such a ridiculous question. This made him realise the worth of his actions, after which he apologised to the sages. The sages gave him to chant the holy names of Lord Rama, following which he was completely transformed into the saint whom we now know as Valmiki.
The incident with Lord Shiva When Lord Brahma recited the Ramayana, it comprised of 100 crore stanzas. Due to concerns of ownership of the scripture, Lord Vishnu divided the Ramayana into 3 sections - 1/3rd was given to MahaLaxmi, 1/3rd to Garuda and 1/3rd to Shesha. At the end of the division remained 2 words: Ra and Ma. These were given to Lord Shiva. These words became the object of meditation of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva also promises to give Rama Nama to his devotees in Kashi to grant them liberation.
The incident with Hanuman Once upon a time, Lord Rama was meeting with sages in Ayodhya. As the sages left Ayodhya, Hanuman offered his obeisances to all sages except Vishwamitra. Vishwamitra was furious at this and demanded that Lord Rama execute the offender. Lord Rama being a noble and just king, obliged. Hanuman took shelter of the holy name of Lord Rama. When Lord Rama shot his arrows at Hanuman, the arrows had no effect on Hanuman. (Please keep in mind that this Lila was plotted by Narada to demonstrate the power of the holy name of Lord Rama)
The incident with the Vanaras If you have heard the story of the Ramayana you would be familiar with how the monkeys accomplished the mighty task of building a bridge from Rameshwaram to Lanka by inscribing Lord Rama’s name on rocks and plunging them in water. Due to the strength of the Holy name, the rocks floated on water.
The story of Vibhishana When Vibhishana left Lanka with his attendants, his associates were wondering how Lord Rama was able to build the bridge across to Lanka. Vibhishana explained to them that it was merely the power of the Holy name. The attendant was skeptical and Vibhishana decided that a demonstration was in order. He handed the attendant a folded up leaf with Rama’s name on it and told him to cross the ocean. The attendant may have been skeptical about Rama’s name but he had faith in Vibhishana’s words. He took the leaf and started crossing the ocean which, to his surprise was only knee deep for him. He kept walking until he reached the midway point. Then out of curiosity, he opened the leaf and read Rama’s name. His skepticism returned. How can such a simple name be so powerful as to make the ocean knee deep? Unfortunately for him, the moment he doubted the power of Rama’s name, the ocean swallowed him up. (Taken from Holy name story: Vibhishana and leaf with name Rama!)
The story of Mother Sita When Hanuman saw Mother Sita in the Ashoka Vatika, she was unkempt and chanting the holy names of Lord Rama. She states to Hanuman that only due to the power of the holy name has she been able to survive in Lanka.

Verse 11.8 - Vishwarup Darshan Yoga
But you cannot see My Cosmic Form with these physical eyes of yours. Therefore, I grant you divine vision. Behold My majestic opulence!
- Lord Krishna is addressing Arjuna, who has requested to see His universal form, which encompasses all creation and transcends the material realm. Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that his ordinary eyes are incapable of perceiving His supreme form, which is beyond the senses and the mind.
- Lord Krishna then bestows upon Arjuna a special gift of divine vision, which enables him to see the Lord's infinite glory and power. This is an act of Grace and mercy from the Lord, who reveals Himself to His devotee out of love and compassion.
- Lord Krishna then invites Arjuna to behold His yogam aiśhwaram, which means His almighty mystic opulence. This term implies that the Lord is the master of all yoga, or the union of the individual soul with the supreme soul, and that He possesses all the divine attributes and qualities that are inconceivable and incomparable.
Similar verses from Vedic texts are:
- In the Rig Veda (10.90.1), it is said:
पुरुष एवेदं सर्वं यद्भूतं यच्च भव्यम् ।
उतामृतत्वस्येशानो यदन्नेनातिरोहति ॥
The Purusha (the Supreme Being) alone is all this—what has been and what will be. He is also the Lord of immortality and of whatever grows by food.
This verse describes the Purusha as the source and sustainer of all existence, both manifest and unmanifest. He is also the controller of immortality, which means liberation from the cycle of birth and death. He pervades everything as the inner self of all beings.
- In the Svetasvatara Upanishad (3.11), it is said:
त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ।
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥
We worship the three-eyed One (Lord Shiva), who is fragrant and nourishes well all beings. As the ripened cucumber falls off from its bondage (to the creeper), may He liberate us from death for the sake of immortality.
This verse is a famous mantra that invokes Lord Shiva, who is regarded as the destroyer of evil and ignorance. He is also called Tryambaka, or the one who has three eyes, which represent the sun, moon, and fire. He is fragrant because He is adorned with sandalwood paste and flowers. He nourishes well all beings because He bestows grace and blessings upon them. The analogy of the cucumber signifies that one should detach oneself from worldly attachments and attain liberation from death by His grace.
- In the Bhagavad Gita (10.41), it is said:
यद्यद्विभूतिमत्सत्त्वं श्रीमदूर्जितमेव वा ।
तत्तदेवावगच्छ त्वं मम तेजोंऽशसम्भवम् ॥
Know that all opulent, beautiful, and glorious creations spring from but a spark of My splendor.
This verse is spoken by Lord Krishna, who reveals His Supreme Nature as the source of all excellence and beauty in the world. He says that whatever is endowed with greatness, splendor, or power is a manifestation of His energy and potency. He is the origin and support of all creation, and nothing can exist without Him.

Who is Goddess Matangi?
Tumblr media
The ninth of the ten Mahavidya Goddesses is Matangi. She controls language, music, knowledge, and the arts, just as the goddess Saraswati did. As a result, Goddess Matangi is sometimes referred to as Tantric Saraswati.
Despite being linked to Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Matangi is frequently connected to squalor and impurity. She is viewed as the personification of uchishta, which is Sanskrit for "leftover food in the mouth and hands." She is also referred to as Ucchishta Chandalini and Ucchishta Matangini as a result. She is referred to as an outsider and is given leftover and partially consumed food, or uchishta, in order to ask for her blessings.
The Goddess Matangi is mentioned in a number of stories. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were once visited by Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati hosted a feast in honour of the guests.
The gods ate, and some of their food fell to the ground. From the meal that had been dropped, a lovely damsel emerged and requested their leftovers. She received their leftovers as Prasad from the four gods.
The Goddess Matangi Sadhana is advised for developing supernatural abilities, including mastery over the arts, the ability to attract people to oneself, and superior wisdom.
Mantra :
Om Hreem Aim Bhagawati Matangeshwari Shreem Svaha॥

Yantras – A Lost Science
Yantras are integral to astrology. 'Yan' means ‘to control’, ‘curb’ or ‘influence’. 'Tra’ means ‘tool’. Yantras are tools or diagrams that illustrate a sacred geometrical arrangement in a symmetrical design. Supposedly, it emits positive energies, curbs negative energies, and also releases spiritual vibrations.
The Devi Bhagawatam says, 'Archabhave Tatha Yantram'. This means that the Yantra symbolizes divine power, and so people worship it as a deity. Yantras are three-dimensional in nature. But they are two-dimensional when drawn.
The complex geometrical arrangement is rich in meaning. For instance, a Swastika denotes prosperity, fortune, and spirituality, and a lotus flower petal symbolizes 'vritti' or the psychic quality of a chakra. An upward triangle of shatkona represents masculinity (Shiva) and action. A downward triangle represents Shakti and introversion.
Yantras have been in use since 3300 B.C. They were found among the Harappan ruins. There are temples in south India that are in the shape of Yantras. Yantras are often prescribed as astrological remedies for various planetary afflictions.
Yantras have associations with certain gods, planets, etc., and people use them to gain some specific benefits. It is achieved through meditation or by installing it at a particular place.
 Uses of Yantras
In a horoscope, planets occupy different houses, which represent the different aspects of life, like health, wealth, education, career, love life, etc. Some planets have positive effects, while others have negative effects. Some alter their nature as per the house they occupy. The constant movement of the planets in the houses of the birth chart can affect one in a good or bad manner. Astrologers prescribe Yantras to pacify malefic planets and reduce their adverse effects on one’s life.
People use Yantras during a special Pooja to attract positivity. They are also used for regular worship. The Yantras in temples are often energized with Mantras which are written on them. Yantras used to manifest desires are made of special materials like rice paste, flowers, ashes, etc.
Once a Yantra is energized, it acquires life. To make it work better, one should chant Mantras relating to the Yantra daily. Respect it, keep it in a clean place, and offer ghee lamps, flowers, fruits, etc. But it also needs your unalloyed faith and devotion. An energized Yantra is like a car, while meditation is like fuel. Both are necessary to reach your goal. Also, get the yantras re-energized once a year, at least, during occasions like Diwali, Holi, Navratri, or other auspicious times.
Copper, Silver, Gold, Bhojpatra, Panchdhatu, and Ashtadhatu are more auspicious for making Yantras. Some Gurus make customized yantras for their followers on cloth, which also have a good effect.
Some Dos and Don’ts Regarding Yantras
Don’t touch the Yantra with dirty hands. Do not let outsiders touch the Yantra. Women should keep their distance from the Yantra or remove them (if worn) during their menstrual period. Do not drink liquor or eat non-vegetarian food. Do not make love while wearing the Yantra. Keep the Yantra in the Pooja room or a clean place. Don't keep the Yantra in the bedroom. Do not take it into the toilet.
 Significance of Yantras
Yantras can enhance the intensity of our prayers by helping us focus on them. It helps to achieve resonance and boost the flow of energy and vibration. It attracts positive energy and eliminates negative energy. Yantras can reduce mental clutter.
 Structure of Yantras
Yantras come in many shapes – circle, triangle, hexagon, octagon, or lotus petals. It may be drawn on paper or engraved on metal. Specific colors are used to make Yantras. The colors represent specific ideas or purposes for which the Yantra will be used. It helps one to connect with the conscious. The center point of the Yantra is the Bindu which represents the main deity associated with it.
 Types of Yantras
Many types of Yantras are available, both offline and online. They are customized for specific needs, like success in career, prosperity, good health, etc. One should always see a good astrologer to find out which Yantra you need based on the planetary positions in your birth chart.
The most popular Yantras are as follows:
Shree Yantra to boost one’s name, fame, and personality.
Kuber Yantra to boost one’s wealth.
Ganesha Yantra to accomplish life goals and attract luck.
Navagraha Yantra to pacify all the 9 planets and enjoy a smooth life.
Dhanvantri Yantra for good health and relief from ailments.
Pratyangira Yantra and Sudarshan Yantra for protection from evil spells, black magic, etc.
 Benefits of Yantras
It can reduce the adverse effects of malefic planets.
It attracts good luck, success, and prosperity.
 It spreads positive energy.
It can bring profits in business.
It protects one from black magic, evil spells, witchcraft, etc.
It creates inner harmony and peace.
It gives us better focus in life.
 It can rectify Vastu Dosha.
It boosts the positive effects of the Lagna (Ascendant). Surya Yantra, for example, can intensify the Sun’s energy in your birth chart and zodiac.

Significance of Goddess Katyayani – Navratri Day 6
Kātyāyanī is the 6th form of Goddess Durga and she is worshipped on the 6th day of Navratri.
When we meditate on Goddess Kātyāyanī by keeping our attention on the Ajna Chakra, She blesses us with profound wisdom, happiness and prosperity. All the 4 goals of life such as Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha is easily attained with the grace of Goddess Kātyāyanī when you surrender with complete faith. Moreover, Goddess Kātyāyanī has the power to free us from the sins accumulated from all our past lives when we worship her with devotion.
The Mantra for Kātyāyanī:
Aum Hrim Katyayini Durgaye Namaha
Hidden meaning of Kātyāyanī as explained by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Everything that happens and unfolds before us, which is called Prapancha is not limited only to what is visible. That which is invisible and cannot be perceived by the senses is far greater than we can even imagine and comprehend.
The subtle world which is invisible and unmanifest is ruled by this form of the Mother Divine – Katyayani. In this form, she represents everything that cannot be seen or understood. Katyayani represents the deep and most intricate secrets of Divinity.
# How did this form of the Mother Divine come to manifest?
The Story behind the manifestation of Mother Divine to the form of KathyayaniOnce upon a time it so happened that all the demigods became very angry. The form of the Mother Divine that arose from this anger came to be known as Katyayani. There are divine and demonic forces in creation. So also, anger can be a positive or a negative force.
How can anger be a positive or a divine quality, and when can it become a negative or a demonic quality?
There is a huge difference between the two. Do not think that anger is only a bad quality. Anger is also important and has its own place. Good anger is associated with wisdom, while bad anger with emotions and selfishness. Good anger comes from a sense of broad vision. Anger is appropriate when it is directed towards injustice and ignorance. Usually whoever gets angry tends to think that his anger is justified and directed towards some injustice only! But if you go deeper into more subtle levels of existence, you will find that it is not really so. In such cases, anger actually creates bondage for the person. So, the anger that arises for righteous reasons and is directed towards negativity and injustice is represented by Devi Katyayani.
You must have witnessed so many natural calamities which people call the revenge of Nature. For example, many places get struck by huge earthquakes, or severe floods. All these happenings are attributed to Devi Katyayani. Devi Katyayani represents that divine principle and form of the Mother Divine which is behind such terrible natural calamities and disasters. Devi Katyayani also represents that anger that arises in Creation to restore and revive the principles of Dharma and truth. Katyayani is the divine force or principle of the unmanifest Divinity that arises in the subtle layers of creation against negativity and for the purpose of restoring Dharma. It is said that the anger of a wise person only brings about greater good; whereas even the love of an ignorant or foolish person can only cause more trouble. That is why Devi Katyayani actually represents a beneficial and uplifting force.
The Legend of Kātyāyanī’s Creation:
The Vamana Purana mentions the legend of her creation in great detail: “When the gods had sought Vishnu in their distress, he and at his command Shiva , Brahma and the other gods, emitted such flames from their eyes and countenances that a mountain of effulgence was formed, from which became manifest Katyayini, refulgent as a thousand suns, having three eyes, black hair and eighteen arms. Shiva gave her his trident, Vishnu a Sudarshan Chakra or discus, Varuna a shankha , a conch-shell, Agni a dart, Vayu a bow, Surya a quiver full of arrows, Indra a thunderbolt, Kuvera a mace, Brahma a rosary and water-pot, Kala a shield and sword, Visvakarma a battle-axe and other weapons. Thus armed and adored by the gods, Katyayani proceeded to the Mysore hills. There, the asuras saw her and captivated by her beauty they so described her to Mahishasura , their king, that he was anxious to obtain her. On asking for her hand, she told him she must be won in fight. He came and fought; at length Durga dismounted from her lion, and sprang upon the back of Mahisha, who was in the form of a buffalo and with her tender feet so smote him on the head that he fell to the ground senseless, when she cut off his head with her sword and hence was called Mahishasuramardini, the Slayer of Mahishasura.
