Ep 208 | The Merry Writer Podcast
We are back with another episode and today we are talking about blogs! Both Rachel and I have had our blogs for a number of years, blogs are great for building connections, sharing insights etc so for those writers who aren’t sure what they could discuss in a blog, we got you covered!

hello friends it’s been said before but I think it bears repeating: content creators are already doing all they can to add to fandom.
me and I’m sure a lot of other writers often get the question “any fics similar to yours/any writers who do more of what you do/hey please recc people or fics” and,,, I hope you can see that all these sort of asks are asking for more things to consume, more to read, preferably exactly like what they like about you as a writer -and while I don’t get upset over these messages- I also don’t love them. ༼ ் ▽ ் ༽つ
because the truth is that writers read less than readers. seems pretty obvious hhahshdh . we’re writing for you all, so we don’t have time to go dig through the tags and find new fics or writers we like. so getting messages like this just reminds me that when I’m actively making content for others, I don’t get the time to enjoy fandom. luckily I enjoy writing, so it gets lifted somewhat. but I would like to say this:
if you want more of a certain thing, how about instead of taking more, you try to give? it’s so so rare to receive back as a content creator, and it’s honestly pretty draining. it kills fandoms. genuinely. you guys have to understand fandom is a two way street.
if there’s a fic you really like, send it to a writer you think will enjoy it, and maybe that writer will get inspired. if you know someone likes a certain topic, send them some blog recs! If someone’s having trouble writing, send them an ask about an idea they might enjoy. It’s really really not as hard as you guys seem to think it is to make fandom more enjoyable for both parties. Because I promise you, I promise you!! If a writer is inspired and happy, you will get a lot more content to read too, than when they’re not. It benefits you to interact with, and help out your fav writers.
unless someone specifically has a rule not to, help us (writers) out a little. and ofc this isn’t calling out people who already interact, and reblog, and leave nice comments on fics. yall are little muffins whomst I love the most. but I wont answer asks that want more, because one, I don’t know many other writers to rec and two, it’s not fun to know you’re sending another writer a bunch of readers who will just pass by to read everything they’ve poured hours into, and then most likely ask them the same thing and move on

☆ Mello-Jello-Wellow! Crispy here ☆
AO3 || Art-Only Blog || Free Palestine
Welcome to my main blog!
My name is Chris Pycream Bacon, but most just call me Crispy. In here, you will find pretty much everything such as my own work, my interests and rambles from others. If you wanna see just my art, you can head over to @crispyfriedartchive instead!
I hope to create a space which is inviting, so feel free to reach out via asks! BIPOC, LGBT+, disabled/neurodivergent and non-Christians are welcomed of course, and if you object to that, this place is not for you :}
Down below, you'll find more about me and find my tagging system. Otherwise, feel free to chill here and have a nice day~! ☆
More About Me
As you can see, I'm an artist and a writer. Particularly, I love doing silly doodles, illustrations, comics and fanfiction, and I hope to become an animator or a comic artist one day. However, I'm open to any art or writing career that welcomes me along the way!
My other hobbies include singing, voice acting, listening to whatever music catches my brain worms and yelling about my current interests. I also have two cats, Sashimi and Takoyaki, a corgi named Miso, and a t-rex plush named Dinosara whom I love very much :3
I'm Filipino! Unfortunately, I can't speak Tagalog (yet), but I try to stay in touch with my culture. I can also speak a decent amount of Indonesian after having lived there for over a decade. Filipino-Indonesian solidarity for the win!!
I'm hella non-binary, and I will hit every character that I love and/or create with the rainbow stick. I'm also aroace, bisexual and in a queerplatonic relationship (hello darling if you're reading this!)
My Stances
I try not to get into discourse as I've done so before, and it's very unhealthy for me (so please don't bring that up towards me!) However, I still want to make the following clear:
People with stigmatized disorders such as DID, Cluster-B disorders, psychotic disorders, etc. are always welcome here, and if I act in a way that makes you feel otherwise, please let me know!
I'm pro-Palestine and anti-Zionist, but I'm still inclusive towards Jewish people. No government actions should be an excuse for bigotry, and Jewish people should always be welcomed.
I'm inclusive when it comes to LGBT+ identities. While I may not always understand all identities, I've learnt to just mind my own business. It makes you happy, and it doesn't harm people? Then go forth! Be yourself :]

Fyi, people. Fanfic writers write fics for their satisfaction and interest, that's the first priority. Don't spout condescending opinions and hatred for certain types of fanfictions if they are not your cup of tea. You aren't obliged to read them. Just click the cross button and get off the page instead of troubling them in the reviews or behind the back. You aren't the only person existing in the world. Certain things you may find boring, that's ok but there are others who may find it interesting. Not all fics need to have bloodlust, tragic deaths, super-angsty plots, or whatsoever. Fics with happy endings and maybe some fantasies can exist in fanfiction and that's FINE. That can be boring to you, and that won't stop writers from writing whatever they like. They write for themselves first before the readers.
Not all writers write the same type of troupes every time. They keep changing it for every fic on their own will. One fic might have a hurt/comfort whumptober, another a humor and another bloodlust. THEY WRITE VARIETY OF FANFICS.

AH I REMEMBERED WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY EARLIER but it's kind of stupid, lmao.
So my partner is getting into brewing beer and I got them a Tilt, which is a Bluetooth hydrometer. It measures specific gravity and temperature, which are things you want to know so that you don't kill your yeast or whatever. Except the sensor's Bluetooth range is super short, and it basically runs via a phone app, and the temperature we're logging currently is the crawlspace, accessible via the staircase closet. So they were like, wait, what do we do about this, because I can't leave my phone in the closet, that's my alarm clock.
In a kind of ridiculous turn of life imitating art, I was like, hold up, I got just the thing right at my desk. Bam. Old phone. We just needed to scrounge up a charger because the battery is so dead that after charging just enough to power on it claimed it was at 53% (to be fair to it, there is a very real chance that it's correct, and it just holds no charge at this point so the capacity is just THAT low) and now it lives in the closet logging sensor data.
And I was like, you know...didn't I just solve a major story detail with a much larger version of this...yeah, no, this is all vaguely familiar somehow, power supply issues and all. Kind of cool that the concept works though. Kind of weird that it came up at all?
We are not gonna talk about the fact that I still have at least two more ancient-ass phones in a drawer where that came from because look, man, sometimes you just need a camera/mic/mini computer with Bluetooth and wifi that fits in a pocket, and people just get rid of these things, but not me. I actually could build a shitty security system out of them if I was reaaaally inclined. I mean. I'm not. But it's technically possible.
For real though, If I pick up any stupid maker projects I still high-key am thinking about slapping Bluetooth into a necomimi headset and running that through an Arduino and learning to code just enough to let me skip songs/change the volume on Spotify with my brain, because it's entirely doable, and I mean yeah I could do that on my phone remotely too, but that's not funny, now, is it. I'm just not sure it's $350+ of parts funny. Kind of a big investment just to prove the point that haha look I am the extremely ADHD type of lazy where I would rather solve a problem via the most convoluted and complicated Rube-Goldberg type ass machine way possible rather than just perform a single simple action.
YEAH I'VE BEEN THIS SCATTERED ALL DAY AND I REALLY SHOULD GO TO BED SHOULDN'T I. I started playing Satisfactory. Mistakes were made. I'm going to dream about conveyor belts again and I did it to myself...
