What's the rest of Miffys party like?

ohhhh i'm so glad you asked TT__TT yay i have so many images to answer this with. ok. the party are called The Whorlpool, and from left to right in the pic above, the (original*) party consists of: Reno Kaseno, a Lalafell Gunbreaker; Purpetua Deutros, a Miqo'te Arcanist; Miffy, a Viera Black Mage; and Wandering Anchor (aka Anka), a Roegadyn Dragoon/Paladin.

*i say original because they have since inducted a DMNPC into their party: Cardamum Sartorius, an Au'ra Red Mage. she's the daughter of the BBEG! more on her later. also Andymion kind of counts too

Reno Kaseno is the character of my dear friend @doppelgender! Reno is a gambling man from the city of Treno who loves a good card game and hates owing people money. Reno is pragmatic, funny, and easily the heart of the group. he's deeply charismatic and a fantastic liar when he needs to be. Reno's quick thinking and excellent charisma have saved the party's ass on multiple occasions.

Miffy relates to Reno the most out of anyone in the group; they both have people in their life who they feel as though they have allowed to come to great harm as a direct result of their own actions, and their interactions with that person are deeply infected with that guilt. also they're the two best dressers in the group (Anka and Purpetua only have drip because they let Miffy dress them).

Reno's greatest priorities are his friends, his money, and the opinions of others. he has little desire for power and little love for his home.

Purpetua Deutros is played by my lovely gf @purpearls! she is from the spiritual apex of Oaxia, the holy city of Ennewhorl. she is also the spiritual center of the party, and the one with the closest connection to Leviathan (the major deity of this shard).

Purpetua used to be a medic for the Church of the Broken Wave, but used magic to heal a fellow soldier once which was a grave sin in the eyes of the Church. she deserted shortly thereafter and has been feeling like she is trying to atone for her time with the Church since then.

she is easily the most collected member of the party and frequently has to be the voice of reason when the others have terrible or dangerous ideas. though sometimes she has incredibly terrible ideas of her own

Purpetua is compassionate, intelligent, and idealistic. she tries to meet others where they are and connect with them whenever she can. her priorities are her friends and their health, as well as love, praise, and the truth! she has no interest in fame, wealth, or power - she's very pure of heart.

also she and miffy do a lot of dancing around each other sapphically. miffy's constant engagement with evil shit and unethical magic + purpetua's commitment to remaining Moral and Good makes their courtship very interesting lol

the final member of the original party is Anka, who is the character of my good friend @catmanjohnson. Anka is a former pirate who used to intercept and raid Church sea vessels. her original crew sailed on a ship called The Whorlpool, and they disbanded after their captain was killed as the result of a battle. Anka was the one who suggested we name our party 'The Whorlpool'.

Anka is the muscle of the group for sure, and has no problem being the bearer of bad news or causing problems for other people LOL

Anka is confident, aggressive, and EXTREMELY impulsive. she loves drinking and being loud and having a good time (who can blame her!!!). her priorities are her friends, family, and power. things like praise, love, truth, and fame are not major concerns of hers.

also Anka has a necromancer-biochemist now sharing her body who gives her cool powers and nags at her

then there is Cardamum Sartorius (we call her Cardi for short)!! an NPC played by our wonderful dm @whoreofavalon. she is one of the daughters of Saint Sartorius, the leader of the Church of the Broken Wave (the BBEG)

Cardamum originally met the party outside of Leyfall where she pretended to be a nervous young mage who just wanted guidance and safety. she was, in fact, completely intending to betray us and throw Leyfall to the wolves, but our DM said that we treated her so kindly and patiently that they couldn't bear to have her betray us (': so she's part of the party now yaaaay!

Cardi is kind, thoughtful, and far too good for the evil ass family she was born into. she is still trying to figure out who she is in the context of being her own person, but she's doing a great job and we're all rooting for her!! she lets Miffy pick outfits for her also (':

Andymion (also a DMNPC) is technically a member of the Whorlpool too? but he like doesn't come along on our missions or fights or anything so he's not really part of the "party" if that makes sense? Andymion is an intelligent, passionate, generous man who stretches as far as he can to take as many people under his wing as he can. he is well intentioned, and a good person, even if he did break up with his last girlfriend by insisting they move somewhere else together but that she go first, and then sending her a breakup letter via owl once she had settled down. unforgivable.

1. from our favorite @theoryofwhatnow ‘s edit on tiktok. innocent little me found a Like Minds edit in the midst of Sandman edits and accidentally was sucked into a black hole of obsession. this also occurred during my school d&d session where my friend judged me HEAVILY

2. they really are both bae but Nigel. sorry guys i can’t escape the insane psycho twink syndrome however i do feel alex is more complex internally than Nigel. but i just really dig how tom sturridge looks

3. i think my favorite scene may be controversial but it’s when Nigel is found in bed with his mother (i’m NOT into incest i promise that isn’t why it’s my fav scene) Nigel just looks so scared and vulnerable in that scene. so much so that it shocked me when i first saw it. Nigel has always seemed calm and collected while always having something smart to say back but when his dad confronts him you can really see him. without the insane psycho part it truly seems like he’s just a kid. and of course my TRUE favorite part is when he sees alex rush in. you can clearly see how his shoulders relax as he says “Jack. You made it” while his voice breaks and he smiles a little (i’ve done this rant before but STILL)

Favorite line is “Well, I’m sorry, Jack, but you were the one who got inside my head”. this WHOLE time in alex’s perspective we are conditioned by him to believe that Nigel is the only freak. but THIS line completely flipped that for me and i realized. wait. in Nigel’s perspective, Alex would be such a freak as well (drugging him and trying to kill him should’ve been a clear indicator but i’m blind). anyway this specific line made me realize many things about their dynamic and that it’s not psycho x victim. nooo. it’s actually psycho x psycho and i love it

Gaz- "C'mon babes, ready when you are."

His voice makes your stomach do flips. He's sat on a barstool, shot in hand, waiting for your say. Once you nod, he shoots back his drink and there's a splash and smack. His head snaps to the side, he's in a bit of a daze before he starts chuckling,

"Jesus, the arm you got on you."

He's holding his face looking up at you with those pretty eyes,

"Wanna kiss it better?"

You are tempted but the next guy practically shoves him out of the stool.

Soap- Got this goofy smirk on his face, real cocksure,

"Nice an solid, a'richt?"

Throws back his drink and sticks his face out, practically begging for it. The cold water makes his face scrunch and the slap makes him gasp. His eyes flutter open and look right up at you, a wicked glint in them. You just blink at him and smile back awkwardly while he squirms in his seat, adjusting himself,

"Daein' anythin' efter this?"

Price- He's got a smug look on his face, eyes twinkling,

"Been a minute since something so pretty touched me."

He looks you up and down like he was picturing you naked, it sends a shiver up your spine. He raises his glass to you before drinking it. The cold water didn't seem to affect him. The backhand slap caught him off guard though, he winces,

"Christ..."

He's usually the authoritative figure in any situation so even though he was expecting it, the slap still shocked him. Disoriented him a little. He adjusts his hat before standing, towering over you and patting your shoulder. You swear you could hear him say he'll get you back.

Ghost- He adjusts his mask, dark eyes boring into yours. Gaz and Soap are smacking his back and shaking his shoulders,

"Dinnae gae easy on him juist cos he's scary dollface!"

You're honestly a little spooked, he's got this unnerving energy to him. He lifts his mask up just enough to take his shot and sits expectantly. You throw water on him and smack him as fast as you can, like you were afraid his skin would burn you somehow. He didn't even flinch, you weren't even sure you actually smacked him because of his (lack of) reaction. Kyle huffs,

"What else were we expecting honestly..."

Soap moves you aside to stand in front of Simon,

"A'll show ye hou tae dae it properly."

"Don't."

Ghost says in a tone so threatening you're actually in fear for the Scotsman's life.

After-hours- The boys bought you shots and for some reason, you took them. So that's how you ended up in the back of an Uber, sitting in Johnny's lap and making out with him,

"We're a package deal, hope ye dinnae mind."

He nibbles at your ear while you ask who's he's talking about.

"All o' us, o' coorse."

The driver looks back at you through his rearview mirror, your face gets hot. Kyle laughs,

"Don't get shy on us now."

Tell me of the anatomy of bugs in your au.

I need to know

Ok, SO. In my COTL canon, most creatures actually still have their species-specific breathing systems. Bugs still have spiracles, fish still have gills, etc. They have all evolved to have a psuedo-lung system so they can talk like mammals can, but that's the only function the pseudo-lungs have. The species-specific respiratory systems are what actually get oxygen into the blood.

For instance, Leshy.

I like to think he has spiracles on his sides like a caterpillar. They're just behind his short extra arms. It's part of why he prefers to wear just a cloak instead of a full outfit. He doesn't really like having to breathe through fabric. (It's just a personal taste thing. Some bugs are ok with it, some aren't.)

This also ties in to why Leshy does the little 'raptor hands' pose all the time. Whenever he's standing still, he will unconsciously hold his arms out of the way of his spiracles. It's a worm mannerism. Most other worms do it too.

Shamura is a bit of a special case, but I ultimately decided to just give them a similar system placement to Leshy.

They are one of the aforementioned "bugs who do not mind wearing regular clothes".

And then for the fish side of things, Kallamar.

Aquatic creatures can breathe underwater and on land. However, they do still need some level of moisture. If the gills get too dry, breathing becomes extremely uncomfortable, even painful, and it gets significantly harder to get enough oxygen. It's not necessarily enough to suffocate, but it's very unpleasant and best avoided. Anchordeep had enough dew in the air that aquatic creatures could breathe very easily, but for those that live elsewhere, it's common practice to wrap damp cloth around the gills. Which is why I always draw Kallamar with the scarf. It helps him breathe.
