Magnus smiles softly at that and rests his head on Alec’s shoulder. “It never ceases to amaze me how every part of you manages to make me feel safe.”
Alec’s heart seizes at that.
Tumblr media
He turns his head to drop a kiss on Magnus’ head. “I love you.”
“Even if I got a pudgy stomach?” Magnus asks.
Even if I'm a whorm?
HAS SOMEONE WRITTEN THE "EVEN IF I AM A WORM" FIC FOR MALEC? THIS IS A SERIOUS QUESTION.

They Took the Stars Chapter 5: They Don’t Care About You
Whumptober 2023 Day 2: “They Don’t Care About You.”
AO3 | Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
Story Summary:
No one could see the stars anymore. In the metropolis of the Boiling Isles, smoke and smog filled the skies. Acid rain fell to the ground. Towering buildings and neon lights went as far as the eye could see. But every light has a shadow, and the shadows of the Emperor and his Council were very dark indeed…. Luz Noceda used to love her homeland, but she had long-since realized that people were not always what they seemed, and Emperor Belos was no exception. Between herself, Eda, and Raine, surely they would be able to do some good for the city. Right?
Pairings: Romantic Raeda, Familial Luz x Eda
Word Count: 1,237
CONTENT WARNINGS: ARGUING
A/N: Chapter Theme Song: Devil Doesn’t Bargain by Alec Benjamin
Holy shit. This was supposed to be five hundred words.
Anyway, I had some fun with this chapter. I was also going to post Chapter 6 tonight, but I no longer trust myself to stay awake long enough.
~~~
“Why do you even bother?”
Eda set her elbows on the table and clasped her hands together, interlacing her fingers. She and her sister were seated in the back corner of a nondescript Middle Level restaurant—not exactly a place where anyone would expect to find a government leader and the most wanted criminal in the city having a clandestine lunch meeting. Of course, Eda herself was careful enough to wear one of her stolen ID bracelets—a wristband embedded with a fake Identity chip, meant to hide the lack of such a chip beneath her own skin. Not that anyone who recognized Lilith—which was most people—would question her guests. Eda still half-expected their waiter to run away screaming.
Her nonalcoholic Apple Blood was sweet and crispy on her tongue as she continued, pointedly ignoring the glare Lilith was throwing her way. “You work all day. You work all night. Fine. You’re a workaholic. You want a miserable and unhealthy lifestyle? You do you.” She tapped a finger on the table and narrowed her eyes. “But having eyebags bigger than the city chasms is where I draw the line. If I didn’t know any better, I’d assume our monthly lunches were the longest breaks you took!”
For a split second, Lilith broke eye contact. The brief shame that flitted across her face gave Eda all the answers she needed.
“Seriously, Lily?”
“How is your ward—you daughter?” Lilith asked instead, her tone neutral. “And that little dog of yours?”
Eda rolled her eyes but reluctantly accepted the change of topic. “Eh. You know the brats.” She paused briefly and reconsidered. “Actually—I guess not. You’ve only met Luz…four times? In the four years she’s been living with me?” That sounded about right. “Anyway, she’s a good kid. Follows her own heart, stands up for her beliefs and her friends, gets into a whole ton of shit you would disapprove of.” Eda snorted. “You know. Fun stuff. And King is still a little monster—nothing new there.”
“And that charming AI of yours?”
“Yeah, no—I want it on record that your weird friendship with Hooty scares me.” Eda shivered. She was not sure whether to be more concerned that her homemade AI was weirdly close with Lilith, or that Lilith had no friends outside of said AI. Both possibilities were deeply upsetting on a number of levels.
But at least Lilith had some semblance of joy in her otherwise sad life. Eda could put up with their friendship for her sake.
Luckily, their waiter arrived and delivered their food as quickly as possible before scurrying away, and Eda laughed at his retreating form. It never ceased to amaze her how quickly the sight of Lilith could send grown-ass adults running.
“So…” she said as soon as he was out of earshot. “How’s work?”
Right on cue, Lilith groaned. “Eda—”
“Yeah, yeah, I know our deal.” She cut her off with the dismissive wave of her hand. “You don’t have to give me the ‘confidentiality matters’ speech again. I just wanna hear the gossip!” She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. “What’s the latest drama?”
After a brief pause of consideration, Lilith shrugged and relaxed slightly. “Nothing has changed. The Golden Guard is still as annoying as ever.” Despite probably trying to keep her tone neutral, contempt bled into her voice. Eda tried not to snicker. “And Kikimora is her usual self.”
“So…annoying and rotten to the core?”
“Precisely.”
At this, Eda really did snicker. It was almost amusing to hear her sister rant about her coworkers like a normal person—even if said coworkers were the most powerful government officials in the city. The Golden Guard was the Third in Command of the Emperor—inferior to only Lilith and the Emperor himself. Kikimora was the Deputy Head of glorious Sector Ten—the Imperial Sector.
And if the stories from Lilith were any indication, both of them were annoying pieces of shit.
“Why does Belos even keep her around?” Eda asked in amusement, leaning back in her seat.
Lilith shrugged, suddenly looked more weary than anyone in their mid-thirties should be. “The Emperor works in mysterious ways.” She took a sip of her coffee. Eda fought the urge to snatch the cup from her hands and replace it with something else—ideally something without an excessive amount of caffeine. And that was coming from her of all people. “Although if it was up to me, I would have chosen someone actually competent as my Deputy Head.”
Oh?
Lilith expressing distaste for her job? That was a first.
Eda scoffed. “Belos didn’t take your feelings into account when he appointed Kiki? Shocker.” In an ideal world, he would allow Lilith to choose her own Deputy Head, just as the Heads of the other nine sectors were allowed to do.
But in an ideal world, Belos would not be in the picture to begin with.
“I—the Emperor knows what is best for these situations!” Lilith immediately insisted, flushing bright red as though caught doing something awful. “I was not—I would never question his judgment—”
“Because that would be such a big deal,” Eda grumbled.
A beat.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Eda was hit with the sudden realization that Lilith was genuinely upset by the issue, and she once again found herself regretful. Maybe poking the sleep-deprived bear was not a good idea. “Just—”
Oh, what the hell.
Maybe Lilith would be receptive to the conversation. After all, they had just been talking about her frustrations with work.
Clearing her throat, Eda intentionally softened her tone and tried to speak with as little venom as possible. “I know you’ve always wanted to work for the Imperial Sector,” she began slowly. The words were like sawdust in her mouth. “And it really is amazing to see how far you’ve come! But…Lilith, being in that damn cult makes you so fucking unhappy. You’re constantly overworked and burned out—when was the last time you even enjoyed your job?”
Eda spoke as quickly as she could, trying to make her point clear before Lilith shut down. Unfortunately, Lilith was already averting her eyes. “Edalyn—”
“No, Lily!” Now that Eda had started, she was unable to stop. She could not handle seeing Lilith in such a state, progressively spiraling into misery and having no one at her side. “Don’t you get it? Belos doesn’t have your best interests in mind! He doesn’t have anyone’s best interests in mind!”
At the mention of the Emperor, Lilith visibly stiffened. “You have no idea what you’re talking about,” she hissed, her voice low. She was starting to look more like the feisty sister Eda had grown up with, and Eda felt a pang of something in her chest.
“Damn it—he doesn’t care about you, Lilith!”
There. She said it.
Lilith stared at her with wide eyes.
Her heart cracked just a little more. Eda watched Lilith process her words and bristle, coiled as tightly as a snake about to strike. Blood boiled in her veins—she almost wanted to see Lilith fight back, if only as proof that there was still some life inside of her.
But as quickly as it appeared, it was gone.
“You have no idea what you’re talking about,” Lilith murmured. She lowered her gaze, her voice suspiciously hollow.
Eda felt her own hopes shatter, resignation cold and heavy in her chest. Not again.
“Right. Yeah. Of course.”
The rest of their lunch was spent in silence.
~~~
A/N: What did you think? I am actually really curious—did this turn out as well as I hoped? Or has the sleep deprivation bled into my writing?
Fun fact: coffee is apparantly a fruit seed soup! This is something I learned while working on this chapter.

Rewatching Some Assembly Required. And Sam Carr says this interesting line about Zack:
"He could get confused at times. He might not be able to distinguish between, say, an event that actually happened, and something he dreamed about."
Sam warned her. Hell, even Alec said Zack was acting "unbrotherly". And yet, when Zack attacked, because he thought he and Max are a couple, and Logan was a target and a danger, she acted all confused. Okay, you didn't heed Alec's warning because you hate his guts, but how could forget the doctor's warning?! Seems like Zack isn't the only one with the faulty memory. She's also really carefree with the trauma and the problems of a guy she calls a brother, having no plan whatsoever. But then again, he isn't the first; case in point: Ben.
Seriously, this woman never ceases to amaze me with her stupidity and logic.

Sun Bleached || Jake “Hangman” Seresin (part 9)
Part 8

warnings: explicit language
Be My Baby
‘Coward,’ Gwyn’s subconscious hissed at her.
She agreed.
Work was awful. It was hard enough to spend the entire drive in mentally preparing herself to see Jake’s perfect smile and easy nature with everyone but her, it was nearly impossible to be in close quarters to it.
Everyone who had been present for her outburst had been mercifully quiet about it, flat out avoiding the subject (at least, when she was around). Bob had texted her one time since the incident to tell her he was always around if she needed to talk and Bradley had given her shoulder a firm squeeze the morning after, but besides that, they left her to sort it out alone.
Alec had stayed the night with her every single night since he showed up on her doorstep, binging cheesy rom coms that she knew he hated and eating his way through her entire pantry. It was Friday night when he finally spoke up about it.
“We should go do something.”
Part of her felt bad for isolating them within the walls of her fortress (very messy house), but her stomach still soured at the thought of going out.
“Nothing crazy,” Alec promised. “Just something to get you moving. You’re becoming a blob. I’m not sure where you end and the couch begins.”
He had narrowly dodged the sandal she chucked at him.
So she pulled herself away from her third rewatch of “Love, Actually” and dug through her closet for something “comfortable and casual” as Alec had demanded. When they had settled in to his car, reeking of his nasty smoking habit and cologne she had given his as a Christmas present three years ago, he leveled her with a serious look.
“The team is out at the beach. They asked if we would stop by and hang out,” he coaxed gently, watching her shoulders seize up. “We don’t have to go, but I think it would be good.”
No more of those puppy dog eyes, just a careful stare that told her this was completely her decision. He’d be along for the ride no matter what.
Maybe it was that gesture that made her nod along, sitting back against the leather of his passenger seat as he pulled out of her driveway and set them on their way.
Sea salt hung on the breeze as it poured in through the open windows, and Gwyn found herself taking in greedy gulps of it.
Breathe in.
It would be okay.
Breathe out.
She would be fine.
Breathe in.
They weren’t on bad terms.
Breathe out.
They could be civil with each other.
Breathe in.
He would never treat her any differently.
Breathe out.
So she could do the same.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Alec was glancing at her every few minutes, never one for discretion. She had purposely looked back once or twice to get him to stop, but he still glanced at her from the corner of his eye when she fiddled with the radio or adjusted the air conditioning vents. He had always been observant and seemed to know exactly what she was thinking despite her poker face. Now was no different, and her heart warmed at the sentiment, but she could do this. She was on mission with some of the most incredible pilots in the world. Having a beach day with someone she still hadn’t sorted her feelings out for was manageable. Not easy, but manageable.
He loved her.
And deep down, she worried she felt the same.
Gwyn hadn’t admitted as much to herself yet, always backing off of the thought when she brushed too close to it. But in the calm that came with the sea breeze rolling through her hair and some jazzy song that sounded more fit for an Olive Garden than a beach drive, she let herself consider it.
Jake was different from any other man she had ever met. In past relationships, she had always done the heavy lifting and losing out when they couldn’t understand her goals and career. Truth be told, she hadn’t had a relationship that lasted longer than a few months since high school. Gwyn had grown tired of being the only one eager to work through things and seek out connection.
But Jake met her toe to toe in their relationship. She was never giving more than he was, never taking more than he allowed (and he seemed willing to let her have it all sometimes). Dating another pilot was an unwritten rule she had set for herself somewhere around meeting Alec and finding him annoyingly endearing, but Jake pushed and prodded at that rule every time she let him close enough to dance with it.
She wanted him to want her, no matter how silly that was. She enjoyed being around him and having a special connection with him that branched further than his interactions with the rest of the team. Somewhere around that night at the bar when he had saved her from some creep with wandering eyes (and hands), she had slipped in to wanting him around. And foolishly, she had chased that wanting instead of pulling back as hard as she could.
And he loved her.
And she maybe loved him.
The sudden jerk of Alec’s subpar parking pulled her from her thoughts and she lifted her head to find the glowing neon of the Hard Deck sign framed in golden sunlight.
With a small huff, she pulled herself from the car and steeled her nerves.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Alec grabbed her hand, a comforting gesture they had picked up after about a year of flying together. It was grounding the way his thumb swept across the back of her hand as he gently pulled her behind him. He was here for her and he would always be here for her, it said.
The sand pushed between their toes and they waddled through the heat and down the beach towards the noticeable group that had collected near the water. Gwyn tried to focus on how grains of sand slipped under her feet and how unbalanced it made her rather than a certain pilot who was smiling at the group without a care in the world.
A very shirtless pilot.
Gwyn swallowed. Hangman was cocky, unbearably so sometimes, and now she could see why. His bare chest was glistening in sweat, something that normally would make her nose scrunch, but now only made her mouth dry up. His arms were a lot more muscular than she had anticipated after only seeing them confined to his uniform and the occasional t-shirt. His hair was wind mussed and bright, perfectly framing the handsome face beneath it.
He was perfect.
A part of her hated it.
“There you guys are!”
Jake’s head snapped towards her at Payback’s shout, and then they were looking at each other for the first time in days. His smile dropped along with her stomach, and she tried her best to draw up a friendly smile that wouldn’t come out as a grimace.
He didn’t smile back.
Instead he swallowed and kept his stare fixed on her and Alec as they clumsily made their way over. Gwyn pulled her gaze away, choosing to focus on Phoenix as she bounded towards them, arms thrown open for a hug. She embraced the older woman with a squeeze, still trying to keep the perfect picture of easygoing maintained. Alec squeezed her hand. She could do this.
When she pulled back from Natasha, she chanced a glance at Jake. He was no longer looking at her, but at her hand, firmly clasped in Alec’s and squeezing as if it was a lifeline.
Maybe it was.
He swallowed once more and turned to Coyote, ending their weird stare-off. Gwyn’s head already felt clearer.
“What are you guys playing?” she asked, taking in the two footballs being tossed around between what looked like two separate teams.
“Dogfight football,” Phoenix smiled, gesturing between the groups. “Maverick showed it to us a few months ago. Defense and offense at the same time.” At the confused squint Gwyn slid her, she waved a hand. “You’ll figure it out.”
Alec pulled her towards the rest of the group, gripping her hand a little tighter once she was near enough to Jake to make her chest hurt. Bradshaw groaned at the sight of them.
“New rule. They can play, but they have to be on separate teams,” he declared with a note of finality that made Gwyn’s lips turn up slightly.
Alec breathed a laugh. “Afraid you won’t be able to beat us otherwise, Roo?”
Bradley scoffed at the nickname. “Just split up, assholes.”
“I call Cheek,” Trace shouted, pulling at her arm. “Girl power and all that.”
“I don’t think girl power is enough to stop my God-given athletic talent, but okay,” Alec quipped, and Gwyn threw her head back in a full laugh at that. She had seen Alec’s “God-given talent” when he had nearly broken his ankle playing soccer with her little sister at Thanksgiving last year. The taller man smiled, flipping her off as he stalked towards Bradshaw and the rest of his team.
Phoenix yanked her over to the small huddle that had formed for her team, and her breath hitched.
Jake was on her team.
She only half-listened as Coyote ran through their plan, completely focused on not meeting Jake’s eyes burning into the side of her head.
‘Look up,’ she tried to command herself. ‘This isn’t how you treat someone you still want to be friends with.’
But she couldn’t. Not without spilling everything she was feeling and telling him that yes, she probably loved him too.
So she kept her eyes glued to the shifting sand beneath them.
The game went for several rounds without incident. She had stayed on the opposite side of the game from Jake, only focusing on where the balls were and what she was supposed to do with them. She even found herself laughing when Bob slipped behind her and collided with her shoulder when they both reached for a football. Alec was being a terror, as per usual, consistently seeking her out to mess with her. She knew he was trying to check in on her from his place on the other team and maybe even keep her mind off of the green eyes she could feel trace down her back every few minutes.
Sweat had started beating its way down her chest, and she had made it nearly half an hour until she gave in to the burning of her skin and tore off her shirt, stripping down to only her sports bra and shorts. She actively ignored the gaze tracing over her bare skin, not wanting to think of what he saw and what he thought. The urge to raise her arms and cover herself bit at her heels, but she squashed it.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
“Oh now you’re just teasing me, honey,” Alec whistled as she joined the game once more.
She forced a laugh. “Come and get it then, baby.”
He smirked, crouching down in front of her and waiting for the whistle to blow. Once the sharp trill rang out she tried to slip past him, but he caught her with a firm arm around her waist before practically tackling her into the sand. She giggled as her back met the ground, falling into a full-on cackle once Alec sat up from where he had straddled her hips and raising his arms in victory. He whooped loudly enough to be heard down the beach, pinning her down to cease the squirming that accompanied her laughter.
“Gotcha,” he smirked, eyes roving down her chest in an obnoxious show of flirting that he always laid on her to make her laugh. She broke out in more giggles and he smiled. “Yeah, I think I like this game.”
She pushed at his chest, but he stayed firm, pondering out loud if he should take a picture of her beneath him and store it away for later, making her push and buck more through her laughs. She turned her head and accidentally caught Jake’s eyes and the way his jaw clenched.
Her stomach flipped, and she pushed at Alec’s chest again, firmer this time. He relented, sitting back on his heels with that same outrageous smirk.
“I’m grabbing a beer,” she announced to no one in particular, and marched off quickly while brushing sand from her skin.
Maybe coming out today had been a bad choice. Working alongside him was one thing when they had professional boundaries and duties that kept them from talking about whatever had happened between them. But out here, on the beach, away from the structure of their day-to-day, there was nothing stopping them. Nothing stopping Jake from looking at her the way that made her lightheaded, nothing keeping her from telling him that fuck, she might just love him.
The splintered wood of the Hard Deck patio grounded her, digging into her bare feet painfully. She could hide out in the bar for a bit until she didn’t feel so lovesick and awful, and maybe she’d drink enough to ease the sting of seeing him.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Penny greeted her with a warm smile and it was refreshing to see someone greet her without that hesitancy the rest of the world had offered her the last few days. Someone who knew nothing about her situation, how she had blown up, or how she was fighting a losing battle with her feelings.
Gwyn considered hanging out at the bar, but decided against it in favor of pacing the busy crowd to shake out the jitters that collected in her legs. Sitting at the bar would only give her time to think, and thinking meant thinking about Jake. So she pushed around warm bodies, some drunker than others and reeking of whatever was in their glass, and found it was pretty easy to lose herself between them. There was anonymity in isolating herself in a crowd full of strangers. They didn’t know her. They didn’t need to.
She smiled at a few patrons whose eyes she caught, making rounds through the room just to keep her from growing antsy and stationary. It was far too loud to be comfortable, but Gwyn didn’t mind. It was solace compared to what waited for her back on the beach.
A hand wrapped around her wrist and tugged her back towards someone. She had just turned her head in time to stop herself from colliding into a chest covered in a beer soaked t-shirt. Her lip curled at the reek of it, eyes flying up to find an unfamiliar face.
“Hey you,” said the man who was now leaning into her space much closer than she wanted him. His breath smelled like pure alcohol, and his hand around her wrist was unpleasantly clammy. The man hiccuped, a pitiful and slimy sound. “Where’s your boyfriend now?”
Her brow furrowed before realization settled in. This was the jackass who had hit on her on her birthday, the same sleaze who had to be pulled off of her last time. She swallowed.
“He’s… around,” she lied, eyes nervously bouncing around the bar for help. No one paid them any mind, everyone too far gone to pay attention to the conversation at hand.
A smirk. Then, “How interesting.” He slid his sweaty palm to her waist, pulling her close until they were almost chest to chest. She cringed away from him, leaning back as far as his vice grip would allow. “You know, you really let me down that night,” he started, taking another swig from the bottle clasped in his other hand. “All I wanted to do was buy a pretty girl a drink. How embarrassing.”
Alarms blared all through her head, ringing out like the gun-lock alerts in her cockpit. Her fists clenched as she tried to pull away to no avail.
“So,” he continued, eyeing her with a predator's gaze, daring her to do something about the arm around her waist, “I’ll ask again. Where’s your boyfriend?”
“Right here, asshole.” And then a firm hand was pushing at his chest, sending him stumbling away from her and almost falling into a group of other bar-goers. Gwyn’s chest loosened, a panicked breath ripping out of her and sitting in the space around her.
Jake.
Of course it was Jake.
He made to push past her, aiming for the jackass who was still collecting himself from his near tumble, but she threw out a desperate hand to stop him. Jake turned to her, green eyes looking at the hand she had wrapped around his wrist and then her eyes as they silently pleaded with him to not do anything he’d have to answer for come Monday morning.
He relented, throwing one last glance over his shoulder, before turning and pulling her behind him with a grip on her hand. Butterflies replaced the anxiety in her stomach at the contact.
Jake pulled her through the labyrinth of bodies, only stopping to push her into a supply closet before sliding in after her and shutting the door.
Silence fell over them, and she finally looked at him, really looked at him. There were small shadows under his eyes, twin to hers, and his brow had pinched.
“Can we talk?” he almost whispered.
She wanted to say no. Selfishly, she wanted to push past him and demand Alec take her home before she told Jake everything she had been wrestling with for days now.
But she couldn’t. Not to him. Never to him.
She nodded, fearing words would fail her, and Jake’s eyes softened.
“I wanted to say I’m sorry about our last conversation. First of all, I shouldn’t have snapped at you. And second, I-“ he cut himself off, shaking his head and looking away from her. She wanted to reach for him, pull his eyes back to hers and suddenly she was desperate to be closer to him as his nervousness tore across his face.
“I shouldn’t have dumped all of that on you,” he admitted in a whisper.
God, she hadn’t been able to even look at him after the confession and yet he was the one apologizing to her. She opened her mouth to tell him to stop, or maybe to tell him how she felt, but he held a hand out to stop her.
“Please,” he almost begged. “Let me finish.”
Gwyn nodded, stiff and unbecoming, and allowed him to continue despite the urge to argue clawing in her stomach.
Jake’s hands landed on his hips and he looked so unlike the Jake she had come to know. He scrubbed a hand down his face. “It wasn’t right to put that on you. How I feel is not your fault or your responsibility. And if I were a better leader, I wouldn’t have told you about those feelings. So I’m sorry,” he breathed in a rush. Gwyn stayed quiet, true to her word, but she found herself wanting to kiss away the frown he wore.
“I think-“ he began again, swallowing as the words came out cracked. “You are the first person I’ve ever felt these things for. I’m not really a ‘dating’ guy, but I just… can’t help wanting that with you. Bradshaw says everyone has a person that makes them want to be a better person, out of love or whatever,” he sighed. “And you’re that person for me. I’m sorry for pulling you away from…” he trailed off, lazily waving a hand towards the door. “I just couldn’t stand the sight of that. I have these feelings for you and they mean a lot to me. They’re mine, and they’re things I’ve never felt before. So I guess I think-“ he gulped, eyes finally meeting hers again. “You’re my girl. To me, at least. And I know that doesn’t really make sense and I have no right to think of you that way, but it’s true. You’ll always be my girl, I think.”
Her breath rattled in her chest at the confession. She wanted to kiss him. Hold him close and apologize and stay in the safe haven of his arms for the rest of her life.
“I’m working on it, I promise,” Jake went on dejectedly. “I just need a bit more time. Just a little longer and then I won’t be such a mopey, miserable prick.”
Tears were stinging her eyes, and Gwyn blinked against the burn. “Jake,” she breathed.
“It’s okay,” he promised with a small smile that looked anything but okay. “It’s alright, baby.” His hand reached for her before he decided against touching her and dropping it. “I’ll see you back out there.”
He turned to leave, pausing with his hand on the doorknob. She silently begged him to turn around, give her a chance to collect herself and force the words out of her mouth and stop being a coward. But he sighed and pushed through the door, leaving her alone in the supply closet.
She wanted to chase after him, but her feet were cemented to the floor.
‘You’ll always be my girl, I think.’
Gwyn wondered if the rest of the bar could hear her chest crack open.

rolling your eyes, a sigh escaped your lips. you really don’t want to do this right now after that particularly bad, failed mission — a bunch of female mundanes swarmed over you while on duty, disturbing you and making you unable to guard over the demons that were wrecking havoc on that club itself. those females were a distraction; they wanted to get into your pants, thirty for some love from a incredibly good-looking man like you.
deciding not to deal with his crap as isabelle and jace scolded alec, you went to walk pass him before being stopped quickly with a grab on your arm. “i really don’t want to do this right now, lightwood.” you immediately said after turning around, refusing to let him talk first. “i feel responsible of this mission as much as it’s hard to believe that, and i don’t want you constantly nagging me about it.”
“as you should.” he retorts with the same cold, emotionless face he always plastered on. “and of course, i will nag you about it, it was an important mission! we got to kill those demons but we didn’t get to find out their intention.”
you scrunched your brows together, “why didn’t you ask any of them when those mundanes were crowding over me? i’m sure you had plenty of chances.” eyes glinting with suspicion, you stepped forward towards him. “or maybe you just didn’t want to do anything so you could frame me on the failed mission.” you accused.
alec’s brows furrowed and his lips curved upside down in a frown at that. he narrowed his eyes, offended and upset. “you’re accusing me now? great, (y/n)! of course, you would find a way to accuse me somehow!” he exclaimed sarcastically.
you scoff and rolled your eyes, done with his bullshit before storming off the heart of the institute towards your room.
“seriously, alec?” isabelle gives her brother a look, hands resting on her hips, but all the male lightwood did was glare at her and storm off as well.
she didn’t know why you and alec are always on each other’s throats; it’s almost as if you’d kill each other when left alone together, there isn’t even any clear reason you two should hate each other yet you still do. it’s probably because of the feud between maryse and your mother, but even then, she still did not understand. in her eyes, alec was longing for your touches and just you in general, yet he’s pushing you away. isabelle has been wanting the both of you to get along — though, it might be the hardest one to achieve.
jace and clary glanced at each other, knowing how she feels about this whole feud thing. “they’ll come around soon, izzy.” the former comforts, placing his hand on her shoulder.
“yeah, let’s just believe in them.” clary joins, taking up the space opposite jace. “you know what they say; the more you hate, the more you love. who knows? they might actually get along someday.” she tried her best to cheer up, which worked miraculously as isabelle reveals a smile.
perhaps, she should be patient as the universe works in its own wonderful ways. all these small, petty arguments are getting tiring and she just hopes something will change for the better.

walking down the hallway leading up to your room, alec looks around first cautiously and makes sure no one’s witnessing anything before eventually stopping in front of your door.
it was already unlocked, with you peeking from the tiny bit of space between, grinning up at him. alec smiled and assured you there was no one around, which made you open the door wide and pull him in. giggling together, he closed the door behind him and made sure to lock it as you captured his lips on yours, cupping his face with both hands.
he smiled into the kiss, moving to wrap his arms around your waist while yours wrapped around his neck, pulling each other close. feeling a gentle squeeze on your butt, you took that as a signal to jump and wrap your legs around him, alec not missing a beat to catch you. with lips still attached together, alec moved to sit on the bed, his hands beginning to roam around your body. breaking the kiss to catch your breath, he took it as an opportunity to run his lips and tongue across your neck, licking, sucking and biting. you moaned, tilting your head back to give him more access.
“alec...” you whimpered breathlessly as he sucked harshly on your skin, creating a pretty visible hickey. “they will- don’t make one where they can see it.” complaining, you slipped your fingers through his soft hair but didn’t stop him from continuing his work.
he hums, the vibration making you shiver. “you can always cover it, (y/n). i know you like it when i leave my mark on you.” he mumbled against your skin, tightening his hold. a moan once again leaves your lips when he bit on your sweet spot, the blissful sound making him groan and slip his hand in the back of your pants. “you know today was not your fault, right?” he suddenly whispers, staring into your (e/c) eyes that never failed to make him lost.
you stared back at his hazel eyes, nodding your head and resting your forehead against his. “of course, darling. i never meant anything i’ve said either.”
this is always what you did — argue, act like enemies, be nasty, throw insults at one another, speak with distaste in the front, but once behind the closed doors, you apologize to each other and make sure the other didn’t take it to their heart, as well as show love, so you’d be reassured of everything.
alec smiles, his eyes shining with admiration and love. oh, how angelic he looked with that smile of his. only you could see him so soft.
“truth is, i couldn’t ask the demons because i was focused on you.” he admitted, looking down for a second before returning his gaze on you. “those mundanes,” distaste filled his tone at the mention of those creature, “had no right to touch you like that. acting like you’d sleep with them, be their man.” his lips pouted at the thought as jealousy clouded his chest.
chuckling, you pecked his lips when found his jealousy cute. “alec, darling, you know i’m only gonna do that with you. i’m completely yours.” talking with a loving tone, your fingers played with his hair that always made him feel good.
alec smiled in fondness and gently pulled you by the back of your head, capturing your lips in yet another heated kiss. you bit on his bottom lip, erupting a groan from him as he pushed the jacket off of your shoulders, it falling on the floor along with your black shirt. alec only ever broke the kiss when he removed his jacket and shirt, and quickly smashed his lips back on yours, tongue slipping in smoothly and exploring your mouth, fighting against your own wet muscle for dominance.
he then flipped you both to lay your back on the soft mattress, never breaking the kiss as his hand ran across your chest and abs, tracing every bit of your body. you moaned into the kiss when he palmed your cock through the thick layer of pants.
“mhm, alec...” calling his name breathlessly, you unconsciously buckled your hips onto his hand, trying to get some sort of stimulation.
alec groaned in arousal at your reaction, quickly unzipping your pants and tugging it off of you along with your boxers. a cool of air hit your manhood as soon as it was released, making you shiver, eyes closing in response.
the lightwood took his time to admire you completely; your eyes glistening with lust, lips swollen from all the kissing, chest rising up and down with every breath you take, fully naked, presenting yourself to him without shame or hesitation. no matter how many times he looked at every part of you, you never ceased to take his breath away. it was sort of amusing, how even after all this time you still have him wrapped around your finger and willingly refusing to ever unwrap.
god, he’s so lucky to have you.
alec starts kissing your chest downwards slowly until it reached your hard erection, laying a peck on the tip which had you twitching. giving your tip a kitten lick, his hand pumped your cock painfully slow as you whimpered. he licked off the dripping precum before fully taking you in, the walls of his mouth rubbing against your shaft making you moan and throw your head back, eyes almost rolling to the back of your head. he didn’t stop until he took all the way in and starts to bob his head upwards and backwards, twirling his wet muscle skillfully on your shaft while doing so, keeping his gaze fixed on you.
you gripped the sheets tightly until your knuckles turned white, wave after wave of pleasure hitting you like a tsunami as an uncontrollable moans escaped your lips. “fuck, alec! t-that feels so good.” you praised, arching your back to get more stimulation.
alec kept you in place with his hands as he continued sucking you off, the bulge in his pants implying his intense arousal upon the delicious sight in front of him. his cock was painfully hard underneath that thick fabric.
saliva as well as your precum dripped his chin, but he couldn’t careless as he only wanted you to feel amazing. and indeed, you were feeling just that.
he could see your legs quiver in the corner of his eyes. you were close, he could feel it by your cock twitching and pulsating in his mouth. an all too familiar feeling builds in the pit of your stomach as tears blurred your vision, your mind reminding you how close you are to your climax. “ohhh, fuck! alec! i’m close- aghhh!”
“cum for me, (y/n).” alec speaks, and although it was muffled due to your cock still buried between his lips, you understood. he fastened his pace, slowly sending you over the edge until finally, you let out a loud moan of his name as white seeds shoots out from your cock in his mouth. your hips jerked while you ride out your orgasm, his lips still wrapped around the manhood in an attempt to swallow everything that spills out of it.
he then released your cock from his mouth with a loud ‘pop’ and hovered above your panting body again, capturing your lips in a gentle kiss. you could taste yourself along with his saliva as your wet muscles danced together lazily.
a shaky sigh leaves his lips after feeling how painfully hard he was and finally moved to remove the rest of his clothes, pants and boxers altogether — his hard-on springing up as he released a relieved sigh from the freeness. his pants were getting too tight with his as-hard-as-a-rock manhood inside.
“alec,” you breathlessly called, bringing your hands up to cup his face. “go ahead and put it in. i want you now.”
“but without preparation-”
“it will hurt, i know.” you cut him off, giving him an assuring look. “we did it yesterday, it’ll be okay. please, just fuck me right now,” you placed your lips just above his ear, “show me those mundanes aren’t better than you.”
“you really...” he growled. you really knew how to rile him up.
without a warning, he slammed his cock into you in just one go and ripped out a scream from your throat, eyes rolling to the back of your head from the sudden feeling of being filled with his thick shaft.
thrusting his hips, alec groaned at the warm feeling of your tight hole around him and kissed your collarbone to muffle his own noises while his ears are blessed with your constant whines, moans and whimpers.
“shit, ah! alec! more!” you desperately whined, hips moving on its own to meet with his rhythmic thrust.
“fuck, (y/n)...” he grunted right into your ear, making you shudder.
his pace was fast and rough as he fucked you mercilessly into the mattress while leaving hickeys everywhere he can, angling his thrust so he’d perfectly hit your prostate. “you’re only mine. no mundanes, or shadowhunters, or downworlders can get to lay their hands on you but me. i’m the only one who get to fuck you like this...” his words went straight to your already hard-enough cock, arousing you even further.
it’s always hot whenever alec gets possessive over you, and you loved that.
“oh my god, alec— right there!” you moaned, now tears rolling down your flushed cheeks. his thrust starts to get sloppy as both of you near the edge, you could feel his cock pulsing and twitching inside your hole.
it took three harsh and hard thrust to completely throw you off as your eyes rolled to the back of your head, loud moans that sounded almost like a scream erupting from your throat, back arching and body squirming underneath him as white loads shoots out again from your manhood, landing on your exposed chest and stomach, cumming hard. your walls tightened around him while you cum and that was enough for alec to spill his hot seed inside you, filling you up good like always.
pulling out, he collapsed on the bed beside you, catching your breath together and slowly calming down from your high. “great thing your room is soundproof.” alec comments, making you both chuckle.
“yeah, that’s one thing i love about this room.” you laughed and he did as well before pulling you so you could rest your head on his chest, listening to his even and rhythmic heartbeat.
cleaning up can wait tomorrow. for now, you two wanted to cuddle up with each other knowing there has to be a lot of pretending again.
Tumblr media
jace, isabelle, clary and magnus all sat exasperated on the couch as they watch you and alec go back and fourth over the cup and valentine, both arguing and insulting each other for about an hour now.
it’s a usual day, with you and alec hating the other using the sharpness of your tongues, but they were getting tired of this constant bickering and slight sexual tension that always rose in the air.
magnus had just recently discovered your hatred for each other and at first he found it amusing, but that soon turned into boredom when it became an occasional sight for him. though, he can admit that your tongue is sharper than alec’s and he’s impressed by that.
“valentine is a shadowhunter, alright? he’d be able to get the cup from here.” you argued, giving the lightwood a pointed look.
alec folded his arms, “not if we guard it.”
you raised your brows and a ‘really?’ look crossed your face. “have you forgotten that he killed thousands of shadowhunters and downworlders, or did you become so old that your memory gaps is getting worse?” he shot you a death glare at that, not liking the tone you use on him.
“okay so,” clary stands up, “why don’t you both just calm down and figure this out in a friendly way?” you and alec snapped your gaze towards her, eyes practically sending daggers. she held her hands up, “or maybe not. but can’t you just... uh- not fight, for once?”
“not my problem he’s irritating.” you retorted with arms folded above your chest.
alec rolled his eyes, “well, not my problem either that he’s annoying.” he exclaimed while his index finger pointed at you.
“you two look like an old married couple.” isabelle comments with a teasing smirk dancing on her lips. you and alec froze in your places and looked at her with unreadable expression before turning back at each other.
it felt good hearing that, since you two are dating.
the conversation were interrupted when maryse approaches, her hands fiddling with each other and a nervous look on her face.
you sighed, stepping away to walk out, but maryse quickly stops you when you walked pass her. “stay, please. this involves you, too.” confusion laced your face at that, but didn’t say anything as you stepped back.
“i know that the feud between (y/n)’s mother and i have caused some troubles within you, and we’re very sorry for that. we decided... it’s better to forget what happened between us rather than drag it down and have it affect all of you.” she turned around and gestured for someone to come, your mother walking up to her, their hand intertwining in a friendly manner as smiles coated their faces.
surprise filled everyone’s face, brows raising. “wait, does this mean you two are friends now?” isabelle asked.
your mother smiled, nodding her head. “we had a genuine conversation last night and found out we had more similarities than we thought we would.”
jace, clary and isabelle smiled at one another while magnus sipped on his drink, feeling quite happy for them. this meant you and alec had no reason to hate each other.
“so this isn’t a joke? you’re not pretending?” you asked, suspicion on both yours and alec’s face. they shook their heads and smiled.
you stared at them before turning to alec who looked back at you, silently conversing.
finally, a sigh leaves his lips as you simultaneously looked at the two mothers with a smile. “that’s a great news, mother. i hope you have fun together.” he congratulates, smiling. “now, (y/n) and i have somewhere else to go. i assume there won’t be any missions for today.”
surprise looks coated everyone’s faces and their eyes almost popped out of their sockets when you intertwined your hand with his. you waved at them, alec beginning to drag you two away.
“hold on a second, where are you going? and what does that mean?” jace quickly asked, pointing at your intertwined hands after he stood up from the couch.
“isn’t it obvious?” alec gives him a look, “we’re going on a date. now, make an effort not to interrupt us.” he continued to pull you.
“have fun with mom, mrs. lightwood!” you said with a smile before disappearing out with alec.
everyone still looked shocked.
“well, that took a turn.” magnus smirked, drinking his tequila.

Happy birthday, Alexander
A Malec Oneshot 🔞
Having your birthday on a Sunday has its perks. You can sleep in, have a relaxed breakfast in bed, can cuddle with your partner for hours. Okay, you might have to interrupt it for all the birthday calls, but really, no one can drag you out of bed if you don't want to.
And Alec definitely doesn't.
The bed is empty beside him, but he can hear Magnus puttering about in the kitchen. He probably has bought Alec's favourite chocolate cake from the Parisian patisserie they had their first overseas date at. Or maybe he conjures up a French toast feast or Belgian waffles. Alec scents the air, but the bedroom is too far away from the kitchen to smell what Magnus might be up to.
It doesn't matter anyway. Alec is already in high spirits. This is their day, painstakingly shovelled out of their busy schedules. It's one of many things that Magnus has taught him. It's important to take time for the things you care about. And caring about their husband, both of them do.
There are footsteps and the sound of quietly clacking dishes coming through the open bedroom door, and it doesn't take long for Magnus to appear in it, a delicately filled breakfast tray in hand, red rose and all. He wears the maroon dressing gown that Alec loves so much on him and the warmest smile that still elicits tiny butterflies in Alec's stomach. This man is his, and Alec is the luckiest guy in the world.
"Good morning, Alexander."
Alec smiles back at him. "Good morning, love."
Magnus puts the tray on the bedside table and leans in for a languid kiss that makes Alec's blood rush south. By the Angels! Magnus is such a good kisser.
Alec pulls Magnus on top of him, and then they make out for long minutes, only shortly interrupted by a snap of Magnus' fingers to keep their coffees and oven-fresh pains au chocolat warm.
Alec's hands run over the smooth fabric of Magnus' clothes. He loves the feel of Magnus' muscles under his hands, the knowledge of how wonderful the skin itself would feel if he'd pull the gown away from his husband's perfect body.
Alec knows every millimetre of skin, every edge and curve of Magnus' body. He mapped it out a thousand times with his hands and lips. He loves his scent, especially in the morning when the remnants of his shampoo and shower gel have dissipated and Magnus only smells of himself.
Alec rolls Magnus on his back and kisses him fiercely. Magnus lets him, moans quietly into his mouth. It's a heated slide of lips and tongues, teeth joining now and then. It's perfect, familiar and still full of surprises. Kissing Magnus never gets dull. And judging by the way the warlock returns it with enthusiasm, Magnus would agree with his husband on this.
Alec pulls back after a while, catching his breath. He sends a questioning look down to chocolate coloured eyes. They perfected these silent conversations over the last two years, the wordless 'Can I?' hanging in the air between them.
Magnus smiles at him softly as he usually does, his lips red and slightly swollen. Alec gets rid of his boxers, opens the belt of Magnus' bathrobe and pulls his satin shorts down, just enough to settle his throbbing erection in the crease right above Magnus' hip bone. To his surprise, Magnus lets out a discontent sound. Alec furrows his brow in confusion.
"It's your birthday, Alexander."
Alec huffs a laugh. "Yes, and?"
"You can have me."
It takes Alec embarrassingly long until he understands. His cock gets the message immediately after, though, and a shiver works itself through Alec's body.
"You don't have to," he replies nonetheless when the spike of arousal subsides. It's nice that Magnus is willing to sleep with him from time to time, even though he doesn't derive any pleasure from it. At least not in the traditional sense of sexual satisfaction. But Alec would never expect this from him, much less over the fact that it's his birthday. He wants Magnus to be in the mood for this kind of intimacy.
Magnus cards his fingers through Alec's hair, just the way the shadowhunter loves it. "I want to," he simply states.
And it is that simple. Honesty, that's what they promised each other. No pretending to be fine, no important words postponed to later, no doing things out of a misguided sense of duty.
Alec dives in for another kiss. He'll never get enough of these lips, of this man, of holding his heart and Magnus his in return.
He brushes the fabric to the side and kisses a long trail from the spot behind Magnus' ear to the place where he should have a belly button. Alec grins and enjoys the goosebumps that he can conjure on Magnus' skin when he does things like this. His husband is so responsive, and Alec loves it. Loves him so much.
When Alec pulls down Magnus' shorts, his dick is lying there, not even semi-erect. Alec ignores it. He learnt that Magnus' arousal is unpredictable and says nothing about how much he loves him, of how beautiful Alec is in his eyes, of how much he likes to feel and taste him.
Alec's eyes roam over Magnus' caramel skin up to his beautiful cat eyes. They smile at each other for a long moment as if frozen in time. Alec could bathe in the glow of their love for all eternity.
Magnus breaks the moment with a snap of his fingers, and Alec chuckles in surprise when he feels his fingers slick with warm lube.
"Impatient, are we?" Alec smirks.
"For you? Always, darling." Magnus grins up at him and spreads his legs invitingly. Alec's eyes fix on the inviting hole. He gives his own cock a few strokes before he touches the rim, a heady feeling overwhelming him.
It's not that they never have sex. No, far from it. Alec enjoys Magnus' body, his hands and mouth ever so often. But this here? This is special. This is something they haven't done since their wedding anniversary.
Alec loves being inside Magnus. It's not that he loves it more than all the other sexual things they share, but it's different. Very good different. Nothing compares to the tightness of Magnus' ass, the way he clenches around him, the feeling of being so utterly connected that they become one.
It's stupid, Alec thinks, as if we weren't one at all times and especially in bed. But tell that to his cock that springs excitedly at the mere thought of burying himself in Magnus' narrow heat.
Alec pushes a finger slowly inside. It always fills him with wonder how easily Magnus lets him in. It's trust in its purest form, and it doesn't cease to amaze him, doesn't cease to flood his body with all-encompassing want. Magnus does this for him out of love because he wants to give him what Alec could live without but is happy that he doesn't have to. They always do this on Magnus' terms, and knowing that his husband wants it, too, makes the sex for Alec only better.
"I love you so damn much," Alec breathes, looking up in his husband's eyes, and Magnus clenches around him as he laughs.
"I love you too, Alexander." It's spoken with such joy and sincerity, it takes Alec's breath away. How is this not a fairy tale?
"I can take more," Magnus states, and Alec chuckles. He complies, feels Magnus stretching around his fingers.
Briefly, Alec wonders if he is the only gay man with a cis partner who has no clue where his lover's prostate is. He only knows that he will stimulate it by mistake when he adds a third finger. But Magnus takes it. Alec hates it when he makes him bolt up the bed, the touch too intense and arrow sharp, nothing like the pleasure Alec experiences when Magnus does the same to him.
"Sorry," he mumbles.
"It's quite alright, Alexander," Magnus breathes. "I think I'm ready."
Alec furrows his brow in concern, but Magnus is already moving. He cleans Alec's hand with a snap of his fingers and pushes him on his back. Alec can't help but think that he's one lucky bastard as he watches his husband getting ready to ride him. He loves the sight of Magnus hovering over him, lining himself up with his dick. He looks so good like this, all sexy muscles framed by maroon silk, a masterpiece of art.
But it's nothing compared to the feeling of Magnus sinking down on him. Alec closes his eyes for a moment, tries to keep in the lewd moan threatening to fall from his lips.
Magnus clicks his tongue in disapproval. "Let me hear you, Alexander. Your passion is my greatest reward."
And so, Alec lets it out, moans Magnus' name and praises him as he starts moving. The drag of Magnus' walls over his cock, the quiet moans falling from his husband's lips—Alec can't help but think that Magnus enjoys himself.
It's not exactly true, he knows that. But Alec learnt to relish it nonetheless. Magnus wants to make him feel good, and who is he to deny his beloved anything? Magnus is in charge, can control the intensity of what he feels. And Alec is in for the ride, can enjoy the pressure of Magnus' hand on his chest and the slide of his ass over his cock.
Magnus moves his hips exactly how Alec likes it, pulls himself up just to slam down again, a constant assault on Alec's nerve endings. It feels like ages and seconds, an eternal tide. Alec gets lost in it, lost in Magnus' loving ministrations.
Alec hums when the telltale sign of concentred heat pooling in his stomach announces his near climax. He doesn't warn Magnus, well-knowing he might stop and prolong their love-making. But this is enough, will always be more than enough for Alec. The fact that Magnus allows him to have him like this—glistening with a sheen of sweat, eyes closed in concentration, his body moving in ways Alec's blood-drained brain can't properly process but that he enjoys to the fullest—is the greatest gift of all, birthday or not.
But something must have given him away. Magnus surely knows how to read his body, or maybe his mind even. He opens his unglamoured eyes, looks at him with so much adoration and love, it pushes Alec only closer to the edge.
"Come for me, darling," Magnus huffs out, strain clear in his voice, as he keeps on slamming their bodies together with clear intent. And Alec does. His body spasms, his sight is replaced with darkness and fireworks. He moans Magnus' name as he fills him as if there were a way to get even closer than this.
When he opens his eyes afterwards, his brain still far from being back online again, they are already magically cleaned, and Magnus lies in Alec's boneless arms.
"Happy birthday, Alexander," he chuckles against his shoulder.
Happy birthday, indeed.

Summary:
Alec and Magnus travel to the past and make a big decision about their future.
Read on Ao3
Story:
The portal threw the couple out on an expensive-looking rug, causing them both to groan in discomfort.
"Where are we?" Alec questioned as he started to straighten himself out.
"Not really where darling," Magnus corrected him as he held his hand out to help his husband up. "More like when."
"When?"
Magnus looked around and confirmed that Ragnor's portal actually worked. "we are in the past, Alexander."
Alec just looked at his husband, confused. He didn't understand what Magnus was going on about. Finally, Alec took his husband's outstretched hand and replied, "Magnus did you hit your head hard on the landing?"
"No, but darling, we must get moving," Magnus stated as he started to pull Alec through the old house. "We can't stay more than an hour, or else we might be stuck."
Alec stumbled after his husband at the insistent tugging. Magnus had never led him wrong, so he trusted the other but still didn't stop the confusion growing within the Shadowhunter.
Alec watched as his husband's eyes darted around the room till a smirk played onto Magnus' lips.
"There you are!" Magnus declared in an excited tone. He moved forward, pulled on the bookshelf in front of them, and sent a pulse of his magic through the vault’s lock. He had to make sure that even if someone found his vault, they wouldn't be able to open it without his magic signature.
"Magnus?" Alec called out, even more confused than before. He looked around the room and saw old reports laying on a desk. Alec's breath caught when he noticed the dates on them. 1989.
"Just a sec, darling," Magnus called back as he shifted through the small vault. He was sure he put the vial in here. He was positive about it. Magnus pushed back some old photos till a small purple vial attempted to roll out and onto the floor. He quickly wrapped his magic around it and saved it from a shattering fall. "Got you.'
Magnus couldn't help the small thrill and anxiety that shot through his body as he looked at the flask. This small ingredient held the key to his happiness.
"We should get going, Alexander," Magnus stated as he turned back to face his husband, who was now reading through reports Magnus must've left out in the past. He could see the horror and strain on his archer's face. "Alexander?"
"In Idris, all these are locked away and censored," Alec managed out as he kept reading the orders the Clave had signed off on in the past. "Magnus, I had no idea…."
Magnus pushed the vial into his vest pocket and made his way to Alexander. He moved the files away from the Shadowhunter and cradled his husband's face gently. "My love, you aren't them. What they did in the past, you have worked relentlessly to reverse and amend. It is a part of our past, but it doesn't define us."
"They took so much from you all," Alec whispered as he leaned into Magnus' touch. "I'm sorry."
"Darling, what they did is not for you to apologize for," Magnus continued. "Now we can talk about more when we go back, but we really have to go, darling.”
“Cause Rangor and the portal?” Alec asked as he nodded.
“Yes, I’m not sure how long our dear little cabbage will be able to stabilize this magic,” Magnus replied, tugging on Alec’s hand towards the unstable-looking portal. He assumed the way back was the same way he got here. He just needed to think back to the present day for the portal to push them back into the loft. “Make sure you don’t let go, darling.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” Alec smiled and pulled Magnus closer. He didn’t exactly understand how he ended up here, but he knew those documents. He had so many questions, but they could all wait until they got home and far away from this time period.
“Always the charmer,” Magnus winked and closed his eyes, thinking of the potion he left on stasis in his apothecary, of Chairman probably looking around for him for lunch duty and of all of Alec’s gear and things around their home.
Alec watched his husband concentrate and, like always, swooned at the tiny creases around Magnus’ eyes as he focused harder. He cherished the small details of his husband. The Shadowhunter tightly wrapped his arms around his warlock and closed his eyes, putting his complete trust in him.
“Let’s go back home,” Magnus smiled as he pulled both of them through the portal. Magnus felt the volatile pull again as the magic ripped through time to push them back out to his present-day loft.
“Took your time, didn’t you?” Ragnor groaned, exhausted as he tried to bat away the small feline making circles around his feet. “Your beast seems to be hungry as well.”
Magnus patted himself down, checking everything was in order and the vial still secured in his vest pocket. He quickly turned around to see Alexander doing the same.
"We got the ingredient," Magnus confirmed as he snapped his fingers, summoning Chairman Meow's food dish filled for the small cat.
"I'm glad," Ragnor groaned as he fell onto Magnus' desk chair, exhausted. "I've already contacted Cat; she will be here to collect me shortly. But, be warned, she is furious."
"At you or me?" Magnus asked as he quickly started to pull out the rest of the ingredients Catarina had written down in the recipe.
"Both." Catarina's voice rang through as a portal appeared in the room. "I can't believe you both would be so reckless."
"Really? I thought this would be expected. I have different cure vials prepared at my home for whenever Magnus calls," Ragnor joked as he started to cough and groan. "Speaking of, do you have magic exhaust remedies on you?"
As Ragnor and Catarina kept going, Magnus gathered all the ingredients and started to measure them out.
"So it was for a potion?" Alec asked, walking around Magnus' workstation, careful not to get in the concentrated warlock's way.
"Not just any potion, darling," Magnus confirmed as he dumped the last of his Seelie tears into the pot before vanishing the jar with a mental note to contact Meliorn for more. "This is one of the most important potions I have made."
"For a client?"
"No, it is for you, my dear husband."
"For me?" Alec questioned as he kept watching Magnus add ingredients before letting the potion simmer.
Magnus walked forward and took Alec’s hands, and tugged him close. “Remember how we had talked about immortality in the past?”
“We agreed that if it came to it, I would get Raphael to turn me,” Alec nodded as he remembered the conversation that came after he had convinced Magnus to tell him what was bugging him. His husband had been reluctant at first to confide his newest fear with him. It had taken some coaxing till Magnus finally informed Alec that a life without him was not something he was looking forward to and often kept him up at night, especially on those that Alec was off on a mission.
“What if there was another way?” Magnus asked, bringing his hand up to caress his Shadowhunter’s cheek.
“Is there?” Alec asked while attempting to temper his excitement. He wasn’t too fond of the idea of changing to a liquid-only diet but would if it meant he would be with Magnus forever.
“We will see in a few minutes; the potion needs to set for ten minutes before it is safe for you to take it,” Magnus confirmed.
“Will I still be a Shadowhunter?” Alec asked as he looked between Magnus and the resting potion.
“As far as Catarina found, you will remain the same,” Magnus answered. “You will stop aging within a year of taking it, but there is a slight side effect of it.”
“What is it?”
“The potion was created by a Seelie so that they could keep their partner without binding them to the Seelie Realm,” Magnus explained. “In doing so, the partner, later on, developed some extra abilities. Abilities that are usually only Seelie. Random plants growing at will and the sort.”
“So I will be part Seelie and part Shadowhunter?” Alec questioned as he kept counting the seconds for the potion to set.
“Not enough Seelie to cause a ruckus but enough that I won’t have to worry about you around my greenhouse,” Magnus teased, trying to lighten the mood. “We can wait, you know. I could put the potion into stasis and look for more ways before we settle on this one.”
Alec looked between his husband and the potion. With the potion, he could maintain a close to normal Shadowhunter lifestyle. Sure, Alec might have to quit later on once people start figuring out he isn’t aging, but he could have a few more years protecting his Parabatai and sister. Alec wouldn’t have to put Jace through the pain of a broken Parabatai bond. The potion was a blessing compared to other methods they have explored.
“I want to do it,” Alec confirmed and kissed Magnus’ cheek. “This way, you can also still show me all the great food around the world like you enjoy doing.”
“I won’t hold it against you if you want to wait, Alexander,” Magnus conveyed, not wanting to push his husband into a choice. He didn’t want Alexander to come to regret it and their relationship to suffer for it. Magnus was aware he was already selfish by making his lover immortal but, he refused to let it cause a rift between them. If Alexander wanted to wait years before making the decision, then Magnus was ready to accept that.
“Magnus,” Alec called softly. “I don’t want to wait. I want to spend the rest of your forever together. I want to take the first step into our forever.”
Magnus leaned forward and sealed their lips together, relishing the stubble that brushed against him and the soft reply from Alec as he returned the kiss. “You will never cease to amaze me, my love.”
Magnus lifted the pot and poured it out to a small glass, observing the potion for discrepancies. Finally, he turned to Alec and handed him the violet drink. “It might taste a bit like metal, but that is normal.”
Alec smiled and looked at the half-filled cup. He thought that it would be filled with fanfare and dramatics when the moment came to be immortal. Alec believed that he would be nervous, and he still was but not the type of nervous he expected. He was nervous because he would be ensuring his fairy tale with Magnus would never have an end date after this drink. Instead, he would get a happily ever after. Forever after. With one more look at his husband and even the two still bickering warlocks in the background, Alec tossed the potion back like a shot of alcohol and swallowed it all.

You will be fine, darling (Demetri Volturi)
You wanted an epilogue, here it is gehehe
Masterlist First part Previous part Total parts: 9 Word count: 1063 Lemon
Tumblr media
I was sitting in my room, which I happily shared with Demetri. It had been a month or two since the Cullens had to leave me here in Italy, but I couldn’t be happier. Demetri had turned me from a scared girl into a fearless woman. A woman that would soon become a vampire. I was reading by the window, completely at ease when I heard his velvet voice coming from behind me. “Here you are, amore.” He whispered, his cold breath hitting my exposed neck, making me shiver. I put down my book and looked up at him, the perfection of his face never ceasing to amaze me. “Where you looking for me, love?” I asked as Demetri leaned down to peck my lips. “Yes,” he said as he started playing with the locks of my hair. “I am afraid Felix, Jane, Alec and I have to leave shortly for a mission.” He said as he buried his face in my neck, taking in the aroma of my blood, a soft purr leaving his chest. “Hmm.” I said as I stood up, leaving Demetri slightly flabbergasted. “Then there isn’t much time to spare.” I gently pushed him towards the bed. Well, I pushed and he followed my movements, never in my human days would I be able to push him. Demetri smirked and let himself fall onto the bed. “My, what happened to the little human I had to protect those months ago? He wondered as he propped himself onto the bed properly, pulling me on top of him. “Your own fault for making me into a woman.” I said as I hungrily smashed my lips against his. A groan escaped his throat before he kissed me back and he impatiently ripped my clothes from my body. “Damn it, Demetri! I loved that dress!” I said before being pushed down onto the bed. “I will buy you a new one, love. One extra if you will be a good girl.” He said before ripping his own clothes off and attacking my neck in kisses and nibbles. The distraught about my dress was soon forgotten and moans filled the room. I tried to roll us over, and Demetri soon followed, allowing me to be on top of him. “I want a taste, love.” I said, looking into his now black eyes. “It is all yours, amore. Forever.” He said as he gently stroked my cheek. I smiled and pecked his lips before making my way down his neck and chest, covering them in small kisses. Demetri propped himself up on his arms, watching me move further down. I kissed his abdomen and down his thighs. A groan escaped his lips as his cock twitched slightly in anticipation. “Tesoro, per favore.” He groaned. I giggled softly before hitting the end of his cock, slowly licking upwards. Demetri gasped loudly and fell backwards, his hands gripping onto the headboard tightly. “Cavolo.” Demetri cursed as I took his tip into my mouth and let my tongue slowly swirl around it. My head slowly bobbed as I let his sweet taste fill my mouth, sucking gently. “Cazzo! Sto già venendo!” he shouted as he pulled me away gently. He grabbed me under my butt and placed me over his face, making me sit on top of him. “My turn to have a taste, amore.” He said and he didn’t waste any time. Sucking him had already made me drenched and I craved for his touch. His hands where placed on both my thighs, keeping me down firmly as his tongue slowly moved upwards towards my clit. A shudder went down my spine as my hands clamped down onto the headboard, trying to keep myself steady. A soft moan escaped Demetri’s lips as his tongue skilfully tapped and twirled around my clit, and switching between my entrance to get every last bit of juice he could get. I arched my back in bliss as I was getting closer to my orgasm. “Good girl, come for me, darling.” He said as he speed up his pace and before I knew it the knot that had formed in my abdomen untangled itself in my sweet bliss. Demetri pulled out from under me and took his place behind me. “My turn.” He said as he gently lined himself up with me. I was still panting from my first orgasm when I fell him slide in with ease, making it feel like the missing puzzle piece to my existence. I gasped loudly at the feeling of being filled before Demetri gently wrapped his arm around my waist pulling me up, his other hand gently wrapping around my neck. “Oh yes.” I moaned and let myself lean against his cool, strong chest. “You are mine, amore. Never forget that.” He said as he started to move slowly, every thrust hitting my core perfectly. I wrapped my arm around his neck, pushing his face in mine. “I never will.” And with those words his pace sped up, holding me close to his body. I moaned out loud while he purred in my ear, his teeth slightly gracing against my delicate skin. I couldn’t stop myself, I needed more. “Bite me, love.” I whispered. Demetri groaned but soon let his razor sharp teeth sink into my neck slightly. The sharp pain only increased my arousal and it made my hips move with his in sync. Demetri took three gulps before licking the wound, making it close up. The knot in my stomach had returned and was ready to burst at any second now. The hand that had been wrapped around my waist now moved down, toying with my clit while keeping a delicious steady pace thrusting in me. “Fuck, Demetri!” I yelled as I came for a second time. “Si, amore. Come for me.” He said as his own orgasm filled me up to the brim. I fell forward onto the mattress, completely drained from energy. Demetri pulled out and quickly got a towel to clean me and himself up, before laying back down on the bed, pulling me close to his body. “So, did I earn that second dress?” I asked as soon as I regained my breath. Demetri laughed out loud. “You earned everything your heart desires, amore.” He said as he gently stroked my cheek, placing a soft kiss on my lips.

9, 14, & 27!
9. longest wip of the year
Since I only posted one chapter of it in 2020, I don’t think The Underground  (The Gifted) actually counts. setting fire to our insides (for fun) (RNM) is the longest fic I posted this year, but it’s not technically a WIP anymore, though I did promise a sequel I’ll never write... So the longest WIP would be the time we've been given, which just passed 30k (27k posted).
14. a fic you didn’t expect to write
Oof all of them? I never expect anything tbh. I guess take me back to the start (RNM) is a good candidate, since I meant to respond to that prompt with maybe a 1k ficlet and it’s gone past 22k...
27. favorite fanfic author of the year
I honestly can’t pick one. I’ve read so many amazing fics. Even just going with the authors who’ve written this year (I’ve read a lot of older fics coming into the SH fandom) I just can’t choose.
In the RNM fandom, @lambourngb @jocarthage and @usbournejez come to mind for longer fics, but I’ve also read a lot of absolutely amazing short fics. For SH, @the-prophet-lemonade ‘s fics are incredible. I might be biased because they’re my friends, but coming in and reading @moonlight-breeze-44 and @eternallysilvermagnusandalec ‘s autistic Alec fics has been a really strong experience for me.
The absolutely incredible talent of fic writers will never cease to amaze me, and I can’t count the number of fics that have changed my life in some way.

This chapter made me laugh so hard Istg😂😂 I fell off my bed and my whole family could hear me out of breath lmao
Baby Lance is🥺🥺
Also the way they educate him and just address all this topics is EVERYTHING. I am not a parent but damn if that isn't good parenting 😭 and not Max taking him with Anjali and Magnus kdhdjdjkd.
Because papa looked very happy. And when papa was happy, daddy was more happy.
No.
He was happier.
The way Max loves David never ceases to amaze me. Everything he did for him, and the other way around. It's just all the love and admiration they had for each other, the communication and always protecting each other. I am not ok😭💙💙💙
Lance nodded. “I want to know if he found the princess.”
“He has to get through the forest of shadows first,” papa told him.
Dani: AJ and Lance's plotline is not related to lbaf V
Me: ...but what if...this is foreshadowing?? You can blame me everything is foreshadowing with you!!!
New drinking game: everytime Lance rolls hid eyes or says something is stupid, take a sip. Let's see how wasted we end 😎
“I love you too,” Lance whispered.
“What?” Theia asked suddenly.
Oh shit. Oh fuck.
“I was just talking to myself,” Lance said quickly. “Self-love is important.”
God, Lance is an idiot. But I can't blame him because same😍
THEIA BLACKTHORN>>>>>>
The tres leches cake😭😭
“The bit with the knife.” Everyday more terrified thank you very much 🙂
I will die for this ship and I am totally ok with that :)
I screamed a little when Max though they were going to have sex KDHDJBDKD. FUCKING GOLD
Max really be making me sob with a stained glass window huh? Ok then🥲. No comments on the note jdhdkdkkd
Wait are we going to meet Harry's parents? Do we know them already??
Women fixing things with a hammer makes me somehow gayer😍😍
“Feminists get horny too, Arthur,” Lance rolled his eyes. "I'm a horny feminist." I would print this shit if I could
Now the title makes sense... BUT HOLY SHIT BABE NOOOO. YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG. YOU WERE NEVER THE REASON!!! IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT. Will he ever know the truth?? Because I think it's gonna break him a little tbh...
BLACKBANE SUPREMACY!!! 😍😍
“If you don’t believe it, then at least believe this,” Arthur said gently. “I love you a lot and I don’t think you’re the reason for anyone’s pain except yours.” AJ really be continuing the Lightwood-Bane tradition of casually saying heartwreaking things...
That kiss was ✨ ICONIC✨
“Because, Lance,” Gabriel said, their voice gentle. “There is very little Max wouldn’t do for David.” Gabriel is an adult now😭 and they're still hot af I'm sure 😭😭 god I love them...
Theia blackmailing an important lawyer!! Mark me down as scared and horny 🥵 she is a fast learner it seems...
I MF KNEW IT!!! I KNEW THE COSTUDY AGREEMENT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE BECAUSE WHY WOULD DAVID TAKE THE KIDS AWAY FROM MAX?!? Alec losing that case didn't make sense!! I knew it and I'm still in shock because I didn't expect THAT. WHAT THE FUCK??? I have given it a hundred thoughts and I still don't understand why. I NEED ANSWERS😭😭😭
Thank you 🥰🥰🥰🥰 and I know you knew 😎🫢😋
This is literally David with baby Lance

Each Arrow Remains
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment. that ye may approve things that are excellent: that ye may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness…” Philippians 1:9-11KJV
Wendy Alec’s book, ‘Visions From Heaven’ she wrote about a prisoner of war camp on the outskirts of a heavenly meadow. She visited there with Jesus. The prisoners were gnarled and twisted, some hunchbacked. [Quoting pg 85-86] “As I studied them more intently, I suddenly realized that the misshapen hunches had not actually been intended as part of their bodies and now I could read the signs on their backs—BITTERNESS, WRATH, UNFORGIVENESS, SEDITIONS, CLAMORING, and SLANDER…The prisoners there before me bore absolutely no resemblance  in any manner to anything or anyone who had enrolled in our amazing Warrior King’s army.” [Quoting pg 89] “Tell My children to pray without ceasing for these ones, and to never give up.”
Rick Joyner’s book ‘Final Quest’ depicts the cause of the deformities written about in Alec’s book. First, believers are shot with arrows of judgment, slander, hurt, abandonment, provocation, disappointment, anger, hatred, etc. Each arrow remains in the Christian, unless they become aware of it. Christians are then herded by demons into separate herds, according to the name on the arrows.
Paul was quite verbal about us praying for others believers, restoring them, and building up. “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you, too, be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ,” Galatians 6:1-2 ESV. These instructions are more important, as Christ’s return nears, instead of pointing out differences and faults.
Holy Spirit desires we pray. Oswald Chambers devotional adds: “ If you're not now receiving the hundredfold which Jesus promised (see Matthew 19:20) and not getting insight into God’s Word, then start praying for your friends—enter into the ministry of inner life. “The Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends”…..and pray for those with whom you come in contact with now.”
Guaranteed, we’re all busy praying for ‘loved ones.’ Totally normal. Problem is— Christian brothers and sisters should be our ‘loved ones,’ too. Praying for someone is the greatest display of love. “For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,” 1John 3:11KJV. Giving away time in prayer is precious love.
Referring to giving to someone in need, Jesus said, “…your Father who knows all secrets, will reward you” Matthew 6:4TLB. Keep your giving a gift secret even if your giving is a prayer. Giving your prayers to someone is also considered ‘alms.’
Our text scripture shows Paul’s prayer for the Philippians. Each of us needs more love, more knowledge, the ability to recognize the better, to be sincere, be “filled with the fruits of righteousness.” Per Job we’ll be found with these lacking in our lives, without praying for others to have these same emotional needs fulfilled in their lives.
Time seems to slip away, without having enough time to cover everyone in prayer. Offense is easy to come by in this day and age, too. We need to free those held captive in the enemy herds or worse— those too deformed to enter heaven immediately because of the damage done by satan’s evil hordes. Can we provoke each other to good works of prayer for the brethren? It’s your choice. You choose.
PRAYER: Father God forgive us for letting our believing brethren be captured by the hordes of hell, because we failed to lift them up in prayer. Help us to unconditionally and continually pray for our brothers and sisters, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray.
