Five years ago, after a near-fatal construction accident, my doctor came to my hospital bed with the results of an ECG the night nurses forced on me because every single time they’d ask me how I’m feeling, I’d say “I’m fine” and then throw a dazed mini-tantrum until they’d all leave me to just- well, I did and didn’t know I was dying. However I was feeling, I wanted to feel it alone. Anyway, my doctor told me that if I did not get a blood transfusion within the next 2 hours, I’d die. He called me reckless for not being honest with the nurses. For the next hour they scoured every local hospital for my type (the rarest) and I was painfully alone in my hospital room. Dying really brought some contradicting feelings. I was ready to die, just kind of accepted it. I was panicked but also very welcoming about the prospect of death. I wanted my partner there so desperately that if my body had any energy I would have cried from how scared and alone I felt. I knew if I called she’d make the trip to the city where I was hospitalised. But I also refused to call her and keep her (honestly and accurately) updated on my wellbeing. I didn’t want her to watch me die (which I was so sure I would do because I was in and out of consciousness for three days, could actually hear my heart failing in my ears, and see the the gradual darkening of the peripherals of my vision). I knew she’d hurt, and I knew she’d beg me to fight, and I literally had neither energy nor desire to fight what I felt was a lost battle. I got my blood transfusion in the end and of course survived. I still waited a full day before I casually Whatsapped (yes, text, not even a call. I swear I’m a good guy) my partner telling her that I narrowly evaded death but she’s got nothing to worry about because I was watching Good Morning Britain while drinking OJ. She made that fucking trip, which I wanted and didn’t want her to make, and she stayed for the next four days until I was discharged.

I’m sharing this because while chapters 3 and 4 of Sea Glass Gardens could not go into much details of what it is like to be dying and know you’re dying in front of a loved one, and the internal conflict of wanting and not wanting to be alone as it happens (because this is all Yuuta’s POV), you did an excellent job of capturing what it would all look and sound like to a third party looking in. Even down to Tsumiki refusing to let go of Megumi’s hand. The nurses hand to change the location of my cannulas to my foot and my scalp because my hands were so bruised from them having been held by my partner for hours. Much like Megumi I also have an issue with emotional expressions and declarations. In chapter 8 when Tsumiki asks him how he is feeling and he redirects to asking her if she got home okay, I was reminded of when I woke up to find my partner, replying to her “How are you feeling” with “Why are you here? Did you request time off school?”.

Idk, I guess this is my longwinded way of saying “excellent execution of capturing what it feels like to be dying in front of a loved one, from all the different perspectives”.

So, this has been buried in my ask box for a while, which is unfortunate, because it's a very meaningful message I'm very grateful to have received. It sounds like you went through a lot with this, and I did want to thank you very genuinely for sharing this. I feel like with art we're just banging pots and pans in the wilderness seeing if we get some kind of faint clanging back sometimes.

So, I believe in aroace Yuta until the day I die. Also, Hiiro is asexual and I dont take any criticism. Yes, qpr yutahiiro, it may look romantic, cuz they kiss, cuddle and go on dates but it is a qpr I feel like Yuta would be a little scared to explain to Hiiro the fact he's aroace but Hiiro like "Oh, I don't understand all of it but I get it a little and I still want to be your partner!!" and there's a lot of comfort!!! It takes them a while to figure out how they want their relationship to work (and to Hiiro fully understand the aroace thing, but he learns quickly so is not much of a struggle) but in the end they just go with what it feels right and what makes them happy.

i want you to know i’m literally kicking my feet and giggling anytime you do anything yuuta related

teehee this ask is old but i’m gonna use it as an opportunity to talk more about tennis player yuuta in light of spending my entire day watching the olympics 

let’s talk about yuuta girlfailure core <3 ik i wrote a drabble about you pretending to want tennis lessons to get in his pants, but allow me to offer you this: he legitimately cannot be around you, much less attempt to be your teacher if you decide you wanna dress up in a tennis skirt. the first time he sees you in one (or worse, on the little tennis dresses) he makes up some excuse about having to take a call or not feeling well, when really he’s just in the bathroom trying to get a grip (and it does not work). 

the second time you get all dressed up for lessons from him, he pawns you off to megumi. he doesn’t want to disappoint you with completely cancelling your lessons and wasting your time, so he figures his very decorated doubles partner will make for a good stand in teacher while yuuta scurries back inside and takes a very cold shower. 

and when he finally does get a hold of himself, it’s not even like he goes easy on you bye, he’s pummeling you but it’s only bc he’s so frustrated, and unfortunately for you, tennis happens to be his outlet 😭 when you finally march you way over to his side of the court and grab him by the ear and ask him what his problem is he’s literally trying to count sheep in his head to avoid saying something embarrassing or flat out moaning because wow you look kinda good when you’re mad and him and why does the pain of you pulling at him feel kind of good and he’s wondering if he just stands there long enough if you’ll slap him and, and—

“yuuta okkotsu are you whimpering?”

- Buys shirts with lame puns or jokes on them and makes sure the both of you wear those shirts at the same time. It pisses Maki off because of how lame it is, but Panda and Yuuta constantly laugh at it.

Suguru Geto

- You did it for fun. Just to prank your boyfriend for once. You donned his uniform and tied up your hair with his hair tie (if you don't have long hair, you put his hair tie on your wrist), and then waited patiently for him to get out of the shower.

- The moment he sees you, he starts gushing over you and picks you up, peppering your face in kisses in the process. He places you on his bed gently and takes a picture of you (with your permission of course) <3

Pinning you onto the bed, with his body still a little wet, he smirks and says, "My pretty baby is all dolled up for me? So ready to be ruined by me huh? You look so good baby, but you look better with nothing on. So take it off slowly, yeah?"

- He gets obsessed with you wearing his clothes. The way his clothes are too big and loose for you, the way you can't even fit into his bottoms, the way you pull his shirt down to cover your bottom half… it turns him on while also warming his heart <3

- Gives you his jackets and sweaters most of the time. He's strong and doesn't fall ill easily, so he doesn't really need them. He prefers to give them to you, since he gets to see you in his clothes while it also helps warm you up on colder days.

- Doesn't really care about what he wears (he looks good in anything to you), but starts to buy clothing that suits your taste more. He wants to make sure you still feel good about yourself while wearing his clothes, especially if you get comfortable enough to wear it in public!

- Love cuddling when you wear his clothes! Sure he loves cuddling you on a normal basis, but when you're wearing one of his shirts and he's just shirtless… he finds it so intimate and hot at the same time. The material of his shirt on you rubbing against his bare chest makes him feel really good.

- He really would give up his entire closet to you if you wanted him to. He loves you too much to say no! Anyways, you look absolutely amazing in his clothes and he's really down bad for that <3

- His clothes looked really comfortable, so when he was out getting groceries, you put on one of his shirts and lay down on the couch for a little while. You didn't expect him to be back that quickly anyways, and you knew you could change in time before he came home.

- However, he came home much sooner than you expected. He stood in the doorway, gaping at you. Just as you were about to apologise for taking his shirt without his permission, he carried you and placed you on his lap as he sat on the couch, stroking your hair as he kissed your forehead. He started complimenting you and told you that you should do it more often.

- He really didn't know he would love it that much when you wore his clothes, but well, he's absolutely in love with the entire idea now and constantly hands you his clothes to wear at home <3

- He's not sure if you were comfortable with wearing his clothes in public, but once you brought up the idea he made sure to pick out the shirts that he thinks looks best on you for you to wear. He helps match his shirt with one of your bottoms, and then tells you that you look stunning.

- Whenever you wear one of his shirts to sleep, he gets really shy about it because it feels really intimate and affectionate. He gets used to it after a while though, and makes sure to give you a few shirts to choose from <3

- Loves giving you his sweaters so much. He loves it when you put them on in front of him, and then hug him after you put it on. It makes him feel accomplished because he feels that he's given you something that's useful and that you'll use (he honestly just wants to help you and make sure you feel his love for you 🥺)

- Whenever it gets cold, he likes taking off his shirt and then putting it on you, so that you have an extra layer to keep warm. He'll go to your shared closet to pick out another shirt for himself afterwards. Afterall, your comfort means the most to him!
