world's finest (1990) #1
[ID: two in-universe drawings from two different orphan children talking about their heros. The first one is by Ann Gray, who's eight years old. She drew a surprisingly decent photo of Batman in front of a yellow background and wrote, ‘My hero — Batman. He is strong and fierce and he can beat anyone. He is very tall. He wears a cool suit with a bat on. He is not afrade of bullits and he saved my life (true). No one nows his reel name or address. the biggist crinminel in all the world could not make him sorender. Batman keeps gothum city safe for everyone and pets.’
The second drawing is by Zachary Sikes who's 12 and a half years old. He drew a photo of Superman using his heat vision as he flies. He wrote, ‘My Hero — Superman. My hero is Superman. He is able to fly and I have seen him lift up a car (with 2 peeple in it). If you hit him in the face then he will just laff. Every one likes him and he saved my life once. The big S on his shirt is for his name (Superman). He lives in Metroplis (where I used to life also). He keeps everything there in law and order.’ END ID]

hi, i've only discovered your writing recently but i can't even explain how much i love it 😭 it's like that one anon who i think said that it feels very real, like you're getting 4k ultra hd 8d view of the scene lol 🩷
i really like your bimbo reader posts but i also sort of enjoy seeing them from this point of view that's like.... "this is not his gfs """"constant"""" style but he just lets her be in this kind of persona sometimes because it's relaxing to let him do all the work and thinking for her from time to time".
i hope this makes sense 😭 thank you for writing something that's this cute and wholesome i just love it
Thank you so much sweetheart, this is really lovely!! 😭😭😭<3
Yeah!! I totally get where you're coming from!! She's not exactly dumb, it's actually quite the opposite. I'd like to hc her as a girl who managed to get into a very good university and is studying astrophysics simply because she liked watching stars as a child. She's not dumb— just a girl who grew up extremely sheltered and hasn't seen the world through the eyes of someone who has had a difficult life, like Simon.
There's certain naivety that while it can be dangerous, she's been learning more and more about with Simon's help about stranger danger and trusting her instinct, but the girl is always surrounded by people who enjoy seeing her thrive and always teach her the things that her parents didn't.
I'd say in general she has a very good life, and now paired with Simon, someone whose entire soul wants to see her thrive?? She gets to turn off her brain and simply let him take control— he sometimes picks her clothes for her, dressing her up to the best of his capacity even when he's not a fashion guy.
This man has studied all her Instagram pictures because she's mesmerizing and he loves her that much, yet it also gives him the chance to more or less know what combinations she likes to wear. He still remembers the time she looked at him like he grew a second head for trying to make her wear dots and lines— but he never made that same mistake again.
They work surprisingly well together despite basically being on complete opposite sides of a spectrum, and at the end of the day, they work this well because they're both equally in love with the other.
Simon is level-headed and that gives her the chance to simply be herself without worrying about anything, he gives her a sense of security that she's never gotten with anyone else, while bimbo!reader gives Simon the love and affection he never even dared to think about. The main thing is that she looks and treats him like he's worth something how good of a soldier he is. Hell, she doesn't even know he's a soldier, she simply found the most brooding and intimidating guy and fell in love with him before she even knew it.
They both spoil each other a lot. Simon buys her things, treats her with patience and love, and generally treats her like the princess that she is, while she takes care of Simon like no other. She does face masks with him, gives him massages, does his manicure (trimming and cleaning his nails, putting lotion on his calloused hands), and is overall as patient as they come.
They're a pretty wholesome pair and quite honestly I enjoy writing about them a lot, the love they have for each other is fully pure and it makes me happy. :')
Sorry for going off here HJBEFJBHKFEHBKJEFHBJK I wrote too much but God, I love this pair SO fucking much

Din Djarin and Luke Skywalker are both two men who get progressively scarier the more you watch them.
Like, Luke in A New Hope was baby af. He was a child. Even in the Empire Strikes Back, what a little guy. A tiny fellow.
Then boom, Return of the Jedi, and Luke is smiling and like “Tell these Ewoks that you are their God and that if they do not release us, you will be Angered…” He is in all black, he is missing a hand, he has gone off the rails conpletely. He’s like “How will I tell Leia that we’re siblings? …Oh! I know! Riddles!” Luke Skywalker gets struck by Force Lightning like nine times and still gets up and drags his dad’s lifeless body out. There were moments one might look at him and think, “no, ur wrong, he still babie” but you are the wrong one! He goes into Jabba’s Palace and straight up stands there smiling and threatening him the whole time. He’s standing on a plank over the Sarlacc and he’s still like “So this is how you’d like to play :)” Luke straight up snapped, he got spooky by the end of the og trilogy.
Din Djarin, straight off the back, is kind of intimidating. He is a man in full armour who hunts people and freezes them in carbonite and appears behind their shoulders when they least expect it. But, after Grogu shows up, you probably think “this man is weak to this baby, he will become soft” but no! The opposite happens!
I’m talking about episode 6. The Prisoner. I have wanted desperately to talk about this for days, but have only just found the words to do so. Let me explain.
Din Djarin is filmed and edited like a horror movie villain. Like a supernatural force of evil who stalks his prey. Straight up like a slasher villain out of the eighties. There’s hints of this beforehand, what with Din appearing behind a guy in the very first episode, and the fact that he has been shot point blank (many times) but no matter how many times he falls, he always gets back up. Okay, that’s all fine and good.
But episode 6 goes beyond that. He stalks a bunch if assholes through flickering red lights. He splits them up, he takes them out one by one, and the last person standing manages to get out, thinks they’ve escaped, only to die (technically) at Din’s hand anyway. He is straight up a horror movie villain I don’t know how else to explain it, he is a horror movie villain.
Don’t take this the wrong way. Being spooky and intimidating isn’t a bad thing, especially not in Star Wars! Luke Skywalker and his ability to say terrible things while smiling, Din Djarin and his predilection for appearing right behind someone, these ar egood things. I like these things a lot. I love these. I love that Luke is the cutest little scary fella in the galaxy. I love that Din is the most awkward little scary fella in the galaxy. I think it’s great.
Why do I bring this up?
Well, for one, I have been trying to word my view on Din Djarin for days now. I love this man, I have to mock him or I’ll feel incomplete. And I think it’s a disservice to pretend that Luke isn’t a person who most people in the Star Wars universe think about and shiver. Don’t get me wrong, I love sunshine boy Luke, but he isn’t really like that, at least not by this point in the series. He just strikes me as the type of person to say incredibly dark, deranged things with a blank face, then smile at cute kittens. Luke is messed up, and we should talk about it more because it’s very interesting to explore the various ways he’s messed up.
But for another, I am a big fan of Din and Luke being buddies who go absolutely anywhere and scare the shit out of people. A Mandalorian next to a Jedi Knight? Two people who eat Storm Troopers for breakfast?? Can you imagine how much the fragments of the Empire that are still left are quaking??? Those two would go absolutelu anywhere and the anyone on planet who ever sided with the Empire would give themselves up or run, immediately.
Like, Din singlehandedly took out that whole troop on Nevarro. All by himself, he shot out all of the Storm Troopers and everyone inside and I like to think there are whispered stories about him similar to the ones about the Boogeyman.
Now, I know Luke didn’t actually kill the Emperor and Darth Vader, but does anyone in universe know that? Or does everyone think that Luke not only blew up the Death Star, but he also murdered the two head honchos and came out completely unscathed? Luke is definitely a boogeyman.
I don’t know. Something about two terrifying men walking into a bar full of Imperials only to walk out five minutes later of a bar full of dead Imperials just really fills me with joy. Something about the mental image I have of Storm Troopers fearfully sharing increasingly terrifying stories about these two makes me happy. I like bad people being scared shitless, all right? Sue me.

I don't buy the 'Sasusakus are a cesspool of homophobic cishets and Sasunaru shippers are a shining light in the fandom who truly understand queerness and media!!!!' allegations because Sasusaku shippers have been nothing but respectful of me headcanoning Sasuke as a trans lesbian because of the combo of her individual character and how her relathionship with Sakura is written and one of my friend's even agreed that Sasuke works really well as a transfem character even though that's not her personal hc and they're always the ones defending Sasuke and the Kunoichi without pitting any of them against eachother and instead uplifting them with an emphasis on their girlhood without being cissexist and also having a nuanced view on the Uchiha clan and Sasunarus think Sasuke hates women so much she can only like men and say none of their pre-Shippuden dynamic counts because Sasuke had more screentime being toxic destructive friends with Naruto and get EXTREMELY up in arms over non-Sasuke guys as Naruto's endgame both on their own posts and even on strangers' and it's like their entire life to spew ironic unironic misogynistic takes and jokes about every female character in existense with their gender as the basis and act like Madara's not a militaristic child groomer who started the Uchiha intergenerational trauma and actively refused to let anybody end the cycle to the point of naming because of how proud he was.Idk i just feel like there's something deeply ironic about Sasusaku being labeled as 'cishet bullshit' while Sasunaru is considered a stepping stone and iconic gay couple despite not ever being canon and calling eachother brothers in-universe and it's worth noting Sasuke expressed she liked Sakura better than Naruto and Naruto never called Gaara,Kiba OR Shikamaru his brother so i think the problem with Sasunaru is just that they don't want the other specifically, not that they're straight LMAO

Jolie’s thoughts on Silver Blaze (Sherlock & Co. podcast) Parts 1 & 2
… because I can already tell that this will get too long if I wait for parts 3 & 4 to drop…
I know Joel has said in several places that this case is his favourite ACD story, so expectations are high… and not being disappointed so far!
I already loved this one at 3 minutes in, with the opening montage of part 1 being totally over the top, mega blockbuster crime of the century style, and then the next thing we get is Sherlock practising the clippity-clop thing and looking for a new home for 327 ants.
Sherlock being a train geek (of course he is) and going on about the ghost trains just after John went on about the creepy Dartmoor legends got me, too. In my book, Silver Blaze has never had a gothic horror vibe to it, but it may well have now! Let’s see how that aspect will develop.
Other details I loved:
John‘s mum: "He‘s a very sensitive boy and you need to respect that." - "He’s not a boy, he’s a man… who plays with ants."
John and Mariana pushing Sherlock into the case by threatening him with a party, and John being a gleefully cackling little bugger about it when it works.
"Just trying to understand how your brain works." - "Yeah, you and me both, mate."
Sherlock giving us a whole paragraph straight out of ACD (the "plethora" bit) - I love how well it always works in contrast with how everyone else in this universe talks.
The dodgy SD card, which - I hereby predict - will turn out to be more than a comedy element as the case progresses.
Sherlock deducing the entry code for the cottage, we love to see that kind of stuff, don’t we.
"We’ve got a horse to find. Giddy up."- Love it when Sherlock speaks ordinary colloquial modern English like a foreign language.
"You are a child, a giant crime-solving child!" - Sherlock Holmes in a nutshell.
"I’ve done the washing up - he said, pausing for a thank you - " - "Thank you."
Oh and scrolling on our phone to the point of existential crisis till we pass out is so how we all fall asleep these days, isn’t it. Jonk Watson, the true Everyman for the 21st century.
And then we get feeeeels, too!
Starting with "Talk to me, John." - 🥹🥹🥹 The incredible intimacy of that little moment. Also, another 'John', seemingly out of nowhere - is this Sherlock being incredibly finely attuned to the moments where John's war trauma may re-emerge, such as in this scene where they’re viewing a very badly injured body, ready to step in with whatever emotional support may be needed? If so, our boy has come a long way already since the first sweet but clumsy "Would you like to hold hands and talk about your emotions?" when they were viewing the body in Thor Bridge and I’M HERE FOR IT.
And what was that shower scene??? Things getting very much *less weird* for Sherlock while he stares at his dear companion in the shower (who presumably doesn’t shower fully or even half dressed) and imagines what life would be without him? If this show was heading in an unequivocal Johnlock direction, I‘d say this was an awakening. As it is, I don’t believe for a second that Sherlock was high. He just wanted reassurance that John would stay in the picture forever, whatever exactly you like to imagine the picture to be. 😭
More lovely details:
"Cinderella will go to the ball" - "You stop being so bloody clever, and I will stop with the compliments." And literally two minutes later it’s "I'm not asking you to be comfortable, I’m asking you to help me solve the case!" and John being Sherlock’s literal beast of burden so Sherlock can look over a wall that even little John Watson climbs without any assistance only a minute later.
Sherlock Holmes telling John Watson to get on his knees as if this isn’t the moment the Sherlock Holmes fandom has been waiting for for over 140 years.
Sherlock being gentle and friendly with the horse!
And to wrap up, a few thoughts on the case aspect:
[Warning: Contains spoilers for the original ACD story and may therefore contain spoilers for this version, too!]
*
*
*
*
*
The limping sheep in part 1 had me going 👀 already, and now the cataract knife has made its appearance, I really don’t expect a lot of surprises when we get to the denouement, and I'm assuming that the fact that there is an imprint of the letter S from the walking stick on the head of the murder victim just means that there was a violent confrontation quite some time before June actually died. Why else would Sherlock agree with Inspector Gregory that the imprint is there, but also with John that those extensive and massive injuries could not have been caused by a single blow with a stick? Nope, not sensing any dramatic plot twists compared to the original version this time. Let’s see if I was right!

New insanity in the fandom
When i was talking about media literacy, i was especially referring to the Hazbin Hotel fans cause how did this girl on tiktok go on to say that Stolas is an awful character and went on to misunderstand the ENTIRE point… Get your hands off of Helluva Boss i am begging you go back to praising your fave one-dimensional Hazbin character but for the love of god leave Stolas out of your shitty ass opinions.
“This fandom can never take opinions” not when you’re blatantly wrong about shit and blaming it on other people for having the comprehension skills of a pebble😭
Stolas isn’t meant to be this morally perfect character, nobody on the show is, it’s literally set in HELL.
But he is a damn good father for one, he clearly loves his daughter unconditionally and tried to give her the best possible life despite all the abuse that he’s had to endure. And he can still learn new things as they both grow, that’s not crazy. But he is almost always apologetic when he understands that what he did was wrong. He was also neglected as a child and decided to break that pattern.
Now, onto Stolitz, a whole other can of worms. You’re telling me, a VOX STAN (he’s my favorite HH character so don’t start) is claiming that Stolas is TOXIC??? I’m sorry, did we watch the same shows? In what universe is Vox a good person, and why do you hold them to different standards??
Regardless of that, Blitz’s view of Stolas is entirely warped due to his insecurities and self-loathing, he does not have the same insight that we, as viewers, have about Stolas’ true feelings and intentions. And if you had an ounce of brain you would know why Stolas acted the way he did in the beginning. I’ll delve into Stolitz further in a different post if some people still don’t understand the dynamic, but for now i’ll leave it at that, there’s plenty of people on this site that have already explained it better than i ever could.
If you don’t ship Stolitz and don’t particularly like Stolas that’s fine, it is an opinion, it’s totally different to outright lie about the character and their dynamic tho, it just makes you look dumb.
Also they said some shit about Stolas’ songs, and it just feels a bit iffy cause it has nothing to do with the character?? Bryan did a fantastic job idc what you think of Stolas leave the man out of this.

Gez Louise I'm glad you changed up the story! My boy Finn has hurt enough! It's sweet that in most of the lives we've seen he finds love. I just thought of something Asa and Finn are soul mates right? For the most part they always find eachother? Does the Griffin we saw that's married with a wife and kid does he ever feel like something is missing? Wait a minute! If there's alt Finns there has to be alt Asas right? Do they fall in love in their universe too?
in my mind they're as close to soulmates as anyone can be... the timing is almost never right, and in some universes their lives never even cross paths, but somehow they keep finding their way towards each other under the most impossible circumstances 🥺 and i think baby finn actually answered your question about whether the other griffins feel like they're missing something:
"I get the feeling that my life is missing something. Maybe when I was born, God carved something out of my chest. Maybe he hid it in some corner of the universe and I'm supposed to find it somehow." // "I started thinking maybe God likes to laugh at me. Maybe he hid my missing piece at the bottom of Atlantis, on another planet, or somewhere else I'll never find it. I got the message - I'll stop looking."
at that point, he'd never met or heard of asa, but somehow he still missed him :( so i think the same can be said for any iteration of finn/griffin. we've seen that they're still capable of living their lives and even finding love, but there's always going to be this piece of them that feels just a little too hollow. any version of griffin that marries a woman is a little different because well. finn is gay. and although his sexuality never changes, his circumstances vary widely, which changes everything about how he acts on that.
for example, in the 90s verse, where we see newlyweds griffin and jules and their soon to be daughter, we find out that after griffin nearly died as a child, his parents became evangelical christians and were much more heavily involved in griffin's life. they had to support him physically and emotionally after his attack and even after he became an adult, he chose not to move far away from them, so they had a much stronger influence on him. although he loudly disagrees with their views, he still shows up to church every weekend when his mom tells him to. to me, jules is the most interesting part of this because we find out later (from our finn) that she was one of his neighbors, her family were strict jehovah's witnesses, and that she grew up even more rough than he did. so even though in this universe griffin is married to someone he's not exactly attracted to, who he probably wouldn't have married if it weren't for his parents' watchful eyes, it's clear that they do have a deep connection and they've both been through similar struggles. i wanted to make sure i portrayed jules in a positive light, as she's not an obstacle in the way of griffin's true wishes, she's a person who cares about him and who he cares about. still, that doesn't change the fact that he does feel like he's missing something and he always will. i think jules knew that too on some level...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i can't really say what happens to them after asa leaves them. it feels like it's not even for me to know. but i do know they're both proud of the family they've built, especially since they were both dealt a bad hand in life, and i hope they'd continue to be a safe space for their kids to land, no matter where their personal relationship ends up!
and..... you're right, if there are alt finns, it follows that there should be alt asas :D :D :D that's all i can say about that for now fjksjds

A few questions regarding noisreverse and queerness, sorry if any of this comes off rude/weird, for context I'm autistic and tend to be rather blunt (additionally i am queer myself both gender and orientation wise)
-if discrimination doesn't exist at all then how come they seem to have 'pride' not as in the vocabulary words for orientations and genders but like, why have flags for it etc? Are cishet people just included in noisrev's celebration of diversity? Or does it not and stuff like the pride clothing pieces in hfsh isn't entirely diagetic. Or does discrimination do exist but it's just less prevalent then it is in our world
-is it to be assumed that the noisrevian reproduction process is done for me than just reproduction? I'm asking this cause I feel like asexuality in a universe where a reproduction method is just for having kids and not for enjoyment wouldn't hold the same weight/meaning. Like imagining a cis woman noisrev thats asexual is she just not interested in getting pregnant? Or does an allosexual noisrevian experience an attraction that asexual noisrevs don't??
-with the picture painted of noisrev and incredibly diverse and accepting I'm curious about gender roles in the noisreverse?
-i'm also curious to know if different species have different views on lgbtq+
Discrimination based on orientation/gender doesn't exist in Noisrev, but it does still exist in our real world. Flags for the most part are meant to convey meaning to the audience. While characters in-universe will acknowledge these flags and what they stand for, it's just a way to show off another part of your identity. And while discrimination might not exist, sometimes the journeys one takes to discover their identities and who they are still hold importance to them. ==
It is a bit hard for me to describe. I don't want to make it seem like it's something like "sex, just with a different name" because that defeats the point of why I made the world like this to begin with. It is purposely meant to be mysterious and mystifying. I wanted to impart the feeling of when you are a child and the adults around you are talking about something you aren't able to understand. It's not always sex they're talking about, it's just things you wouldn't be able to understand. I want their processes to feel like that too. Something you as the audience would just not be able to understand. But to them, it makes sense, and that's all they need. ==
Gender roles are a tricky topic. I would say that gender roles aren't as severe as they are in the real world, but I wouldn't say they're rid of entirely and even if I tried to do that, it would still come with the influences of the gender roles we have in the real world. For example, anyone can wear a skirt or a dress. But skirts and dresses are still associated with being a "girls clothing item." A boy character who continuously wears skirts and dresses would probably be considered a crossdresser. If a character like Reginald or Crowven were asked to wear a skirt, they wouldn't have a problem with it. Some other boys might but they wouldn't get into hysterics over it. And even though these two are fine with wearing skirts when asked, it's not typically something they would wear on their own or include in their wardrobe. A character like Twyla can run a mob and no one would be shocked that a girl is in charge. I imagine gangs are typically made up of a more-or-less equal number of genders. Sports and jobs aren't separated by gender. But sometimes people find it easier to relate to people of their own gender, too. I hope that makes sense! ==
I don't think different species have different views about it. However, I do think there are Noisrevians who consider themselves to be "purebreeders" and believe that you should only date within your own species. Many of these people usually tend to fall into heterosexual circles/relationships as they hold reproduction to a higher standard

Hey there. Out of curiosity how would Greens react to know that Alicent and Rhaenyra’s child are dating? And what Reader’s age would be?
The age of consent, I guess. Like, it's not considered pedophilia anymore, even though that term didn't exist at the time. I don't have a specific age to really say, but I'm guessing it's over 16. The age of consent changes in each country, for example, here in Brazil it is no longer considered pedophilia after the age of 14, but many, including me, think it is wrong and I consider pedophilia an legal adult getting involved with someone aged 14 , so I can say for sure that it's after 16. Maybe somewhere between 18? The timeline would change, but I imagine that after 16 years it's not so wrong depending on the point of view. So if I were to guess an age, the reader would probably be between 16 and 18 years old.
As for their reaction, I intend to go into more detail, but for now I'll give you a summary, if you don't mind! :)
Aegon would be the most shocked by this situation. He definitely wasn't expecting this. He could never imagine that his mother, the one who is always criticizing him for his behavior, would actually get involved with someone other than his father and, depending on the moment, would still be cheating on him with the child of the woman she despises so much. His astonishment is not for nothing, but once it passed, he would laugh and say that his mother is not as perfect as she seems and acts to be.
Helaena would not be as shocked as her brother/husband, you might even think that she already knew about the case because she was very observant. The reader and her mother didn't hide it as well as they thought, at least not from Helaena. She didn't have an opinion about it, she likes you and doesn't care what her mother does behind the scenes. If anything, she might even help keep the secret for no ulterior motives but for her own amusement in watching the two of you try to hide the relationship.
Aemond would be most surprised by all of this, he really didn't know what to think or what to do when he found out about your involvement. Perhaps there was nothing to be done after all. He wouldn't say anything, he would pretend he didn't know but more observant people will notice that he seems to keep an extra eye (sorry i couldn't help it) on you and Alicent. Aemond would observe the interactions and subtle glances you exchanged in each other's presence. At first he was upset about it, seriously, he really didn't expect it (even more so if he has a romantic interest in the reader) and even felt a little uncomfortable when witnessing such things but after having a long time to accept it, it's possible that Aemond won't do nothing. He still doesn't like this situation but you seem happy and he wants that, so, well, he'll just have to accept that you're with his mom.
Criston probably already knew everything before the others did. He is Alicent's sworn protector, he is always after her so there is no way to keep this secret from him. He didn't know what to think really, he admires the Queen a lot and, depending on the universe, the reader could even be his child with Rhaenyra, you are very important to him (regardless of the relationship between you two, Criston still adores you). There's not much to be done, honestly, he talked to both of them and after listening to both sides, he just agreed to help keep it a secret. He can do it, he must do it. Over time, he learned to deal better with this situation and even cheers for you.
I think they would all feel uncomfortable on different levels, but your and Alicent's happiness is more important than any negative feelings they have about your and Alicent's love relationship, so they will be supportive.

my issue with littlest pet shop: a world of our own
hi! as you can see i have a bone to pick with this show, but i'm going to be criticizing the overall premise rather than individual episodes (i can't bring myself to watch any). nothing exactly provoked me to post this, it's just something i felt like ranting about because i always found it pretty strange and sort of like a slap in the face towards those who liked the 2012 series. very long post incoming 😭
first of all, the entire concept of AWOOO (im going to refer to it as that because the title is way too annoying to type out each time) in context of lps' brand as a whole doesn't make sense. hasbro refers to it (in a backhanded way to jab at 2012) as "a pet-only world made by pets, for pets." this premise alone is contradictory to the entire lps brand. it's called littlest pet shop, not littlest animal universe. the 2012 show made this work by having an actual pet shop with a daycamp area like you would expect irl. yes, the show had humans which i agree sometimes took over a bit too much, but it's meant to be a city-based slice of life cartoon. the main cast are actual pets, they have owners, they have their own homes, like any pet irl would. that's... why they're called pets. whatever AWOOO was trying to achieve just completely defeats the purpose of a pet shop existing. i have no doubt in my mind that hasbro felt so inclined to sweep 2012 under the rug by rushing this half-assed reboot out as fast as they could to satiate all the "bring back the old lps" commenters. there was literally nowhere online you could view content of the 2012 series in ANY site, without the comments being FLOODED with "bring back the old lps." it got to a point where fans were borderline harassing the hasbro employees, recording themselves calling them on the phone for views and clout, and encouraging others to do the same. and guess what? it worked. instead of continuing working on the show while easily selling toys that fans were more in favor of, hasbro thought it would be a better idea to just completely abandon 2012 as a whole and then proceed to act like it never even existed. there was no good reason for them to not continue producing the show (iirc it had pretty good ratings and was one of the most popular hub shows next to mlp ofc) while also selling toys that would cater to both newer and older fans (granted they probably can't sell multiple generations at a time, but still). so ultimately, they hurried this little reboot to get it out there as fast as they could and passively shit on 2012 while talking about its premise. seriously? "no humans getting in the way anymore! we have a WHOLE NEW lps cast with no big headed humans named blythe or her ugly friends! no more communication barriers, because thats no fun! isnt this show just SO much better than 2012?" they were so ready to just throw the 2012 series and everything related to it in the trash. AWOOO was not made out of love and respect. it was made as a way for hasbro to try and get their fans back by proving just how much better this reboot was in such non-discrete manners. they thought of the quickest and easiest way to regain their audience and ran with it, without ever thinking about how it completely diminishes what all the previous generations stood for.
i was one of the very few people who loved the 2012 lps series since it premiered. being a child on the internet in the early 2010s definitely brought down my happiness when watching the show because of the overwhelming negative feedback it was getting along with the rebrand in general (something im VERY nostalgic for). regardless, i continued to tune in whenever it was on tv and i saw myself growing up with the characters. to say that this show had potential is an understatement. the producers intended to make more seasons and you just knew they wanted to keep it going (this was confirmed btw). they weren't in a hurry to get something better out there, until the "bring back the old lps"ers finally got their way. but honestly? it's not completely unheard of for large companies to eventually cave in to the public opinion if it means they'll make more profit. they were desperate, and it was definitely showing.
one of the things i have the most issues with is how hasbro proceeds to COMPLETELY ignore everything regarding the show nowadays. as some of you know the show's 10th anniversary was last november, which i and many people had participated in a large art collab to celebrate and honor the show's legacy. want to know what hasbro did to celebrate? nothing. absolutely nothing. what's even worse is that michael kopsa, the voice of roger, had passed away very shortly before the shows 10th anniversary. and guess what? complete silence. that's just incredibly disrespectful to be completely honest. someone who brought his best work to your show and others on the same network (if im remembering correctly at least) and was such a joy to be around, and this is how you thank him? not a single piece of acknowledgement, all because you're too scared to ever talk about 2012 again because of the scary older fans that persuaded you to pull the plug on the whole thing? you weren't even willing to make one little post offering your condolences? oh because you just can't ever mention that show ever again, it'll spark those negative comments just like before. and you've made it abundantly clear that you care more about profiting off these people than having some kind of self awareness.
i apologize that this got so heavy, i've always wanted to properly write down my honest thoughts about this whole thing because ive been unhappy with it for years and years now. if you like AWOOO, i don't care. i wont give you a hard time for liking it, because the show itself isnt inherently bad. just what went on behind it is what bothers me so much. the fact that hasbro can completely ignore their own creation for what... 7 years now? is beyond my comprehension. they can keep pretending it never existed, but small groups of people online have been rediscovering this show and remembering how much they loved it when they were younger. you had a good thing going here hasbro, it sucks that you had to completely abandon it. but i think i can speak for a few people that this show has always and will always hold a special place in my heart and my childhood memories. even if we can't get more from it, we shouldn't forget to appreciate and cherish what we did get. and nobody can take that away.

i know hobie age discourse is annoying and frustrating. i've been watching from the sidelines ever since atsv came out and tiktok is being absolutely insufferable about it. i've also seen the plethora of arguments from both sides about it. but i wanted to put in my two cents about hobie's age because it has been yelling for attention inside my heart and i need an outlet for it desperately.
so here is my official warning. ⚠️ if you don't want anything to do with the hobie age discourse, please ignore this post ⚠️ (i doubt anyone is going to see this post anyway)
first of all, i ship punkflower. i respect chaipunk as well, though i do not ship it. when i was watching atsv, it never occured to me that hobie would be older than the spidergang by any more than 2 years. so it boggles my mind that people left their theatre thinking hobie was any older than 19 years old??
second, as i've mentioned, i have seen the plethora of arguments coming from both sides. i have heard (incessantly) about the director talking about early concept hobie being 19/20 years old. i always always take early concepts with a grain of salt because that is what they are - early concepts. from the conception of the spiderverse trilogy, a lot of stuff can change. we know that even though early concept hobie was 19/20 years old, his age is now "up for interpretation". all of us were not in the writing room when they came up with hobie. none of us can say for sure what hobie's age is. so let's leave it at that - hobie's age is up for interpretation. i have also seen people talking about hobie being bitten at 16 years old in the comics and in the movies he says he has been spiderman for 3 years. quick maths - that makes hobie 19? well, maybe. it is also important to note that movie adaptations of comics very often leave out or change information. they do this all the time. they even did it with miles. in the comics, miles morales gets bitten at the age of 13. but in the movies, miles get bitten when he was a freshman in visions academy, 15 years old. if they changed that fact about miles from the comics to the movie adaptation, who's to say they did not do the exact same thing to hobie or any other character? using comic book canon to apply to movie canon is always iffy. across the mcu, there are many many comic details that get changed or left out for the movies. this is just something i want everyone to keep in mind.
third, this is my main point. i'm going to talk about hobie's age from a storytelling point of view. keep in mind, i am not a writer. i do not have any experience writing or making original characters. i just like overanalysing creative aspects of media that i consume and i also briefly studied literature in school. if there is anything you would like to counter about my upcoming argument or add to it, i would love to see it.
from a storytelling point of view, hobie being old than 18 years old makes absolutely NO sense. if we look at miles' conflict during atsv, his whole thing is that he feels betrayed by the adults in his life because all of them view him as this incapable clueless kid who needs to be protected. his parents, while being unaware of his identitiy as spiderman, are too protective of him and doubt everything that he does. while they eventually start to accept the idea of letting their child grow up, they only start doing so when miles is already stuck in another universe. the adults in the spider society betray miles too. miles, upon meeting more spiderpeople, probably thought that they would understand him more than his own parents could. however, the adults in spider society still look down on him and treat him like a child. this is especially evident in peter b, who constantly emphasises that miles "doesn't know any better". miles is 16 (in atsv) and while that IS technically a child, those rules don't really apply to spiderpeople. after all, though he is technically a child, he watched his uncle aaron die right in front of his eyes, he saved the multiverse, and he saves brooklyn from crime every single day. as unfortunate as it is, miles has had to grow up a lot faster than the average kid. miles views himself as an extremely capable spiderman, but it feels like nobody else agrees with him. that is miles' conflict throughout atsv.
so it makes no sense that miles feels constantly betrayed by the adults in his life, yet one of the members of the spidergang that he is surrounded with in atsv is an adult? the whole point is that he feels he cannot depend on the adults in the spider society, so therefore it makes sense that his closest allies (gwen, pav, hobie) would be teenagers. making hobie an adult completely throws this theme out of balance.
furthermore, i hear people say hobie holds a mentor role in miles' life. i disagree. peter b held a mentor role in itsv. this was when miles was newly bitten, had no idea how to use his new powers, and had just lost the only other spiderman he knew. in atsv, miles has grown very well into his role as spiderman. he developed his own spiderman techniques, learned how to use his venom shock and invisibility in an effective way, and successfully saves brooklyn from crime every day. this miles does not need a mentor. this miles feels betrayed by the people he thought he could trust. this miles needs allies. that is what hobie is to miles in atsv.
to me, the r/s between hobie and miles in atsv is very reminiscent of the r/s between a new transfer student in highschool and an upperclassman. imagine this - miles just moved to a new unfamiliar environment and is a transfer student in a highschool where he knows nobody. hobie spots him, somehow decides to help him out, and gives him the ultimate tour of the school. not the proper "this is the gymnasium, we hold our pep rallies here" tour that the student council body would give miles. nah, his tour is more like "this is the best place to smoke weed without getting caught. this bathroom is almost exclusively for hooking up. this teacher once called me out for plagiarism, so he sucks." then he pats miles on the shoulder and tells him that he's got his back. if anyone tried to give him shit, hobie will not hesitate to make their lives hell. this is how i interpret hobie and miles' r/s in atsv. he is not a mentor!!! miles is capable enough to be spiderman without a mentor!!!
lastly, this isn't exactly my place to talk about it, but i have heard a lot of black people talk about how a lot of people place harmful stereotyping and adultification on hobie. and the infuriating tendency for people to be against poc ships rather than white ships. and that is A LOT of food for thought. that's all :)
i ended up writing a lot more than i thought i would. clearly i care too much. oh well atsv brainrot era go brrr

I like Dazai but tbh I don’t like seeing people portray him and Chuuya as like uwu fun older brother figures for Yumeno. Like Dazai was really contemplating on killing them and Chuuya wasn’t stopping him either. And Yumeno clearly resents Dazai for how he treated them.
Everyone talks about the abuse cycle with Dazai and Aktugawa but I don’t see enough people acknowledge that with Dazai and Yumeno, especially considering that they’re only 13 y/o in the present series. They’re still a child who’s a product of Dazai’s cruelty.
Here’s a long stream of consciousness rant where I ramble about nothing for ten minutes
don’t wanna delete this, don’t wanna post this, but a secret third thing (ie posting it under a cut)
Anon I have THOUGHTS.
about the inherent hierarchy of ability users and how it’s so prevalent throughout BSD yet never addressed directly.
(I do get around to commenting on your ask specifically, but it’s a few paragraphs down)
And the reason your ask made me think of this is because Q was actually the first character who made me begin thinking about this.
See, when Q’s introduced, Dazai says something like “and they have the most vile gift of all; mind control”. The way he says it makes it sound like it’s less his own opinion and more so the common view of things; that any variation of mind control is the most horrendous ability.
Which makes sense, to enter someone’s mind and force them to act against their will is invasive to an extreme. It definitely crosses all the lines, and in a world where mind control exists, it would probably be judged to be equivalent to rape, as both involve forcing someone to physically do what you force them to, without their consent, invading their mind or body in the process.
So we know there’s a stigma against mind control ability users. The moment someone develops an ability like that, they’re bound to become a social outcast. Even their close family and friends may lose trust in them.
We also know that abilities can be grouped as “combative” “general” and “non-combative”. Although it’s not stated outright if this is a common grouping system or rather just one the ADA uses, it would make enough sense for such a set of groupings to be used elsewhere. “Can your ability cause harm? Can it do anything other than cause harm?”
As far as I can recall, this is the only grouping system for abilities that was mentioned so far. And I think it says a lot that the one thing that it’s based on is how much harm an ability can cause.
There also seems to be some stigma against powerful (combative) ability users, claiming that either they’re too overpowered to ever have to work hard or learn skills, or that everything in life must have been easy for them, and they were set for life the moment they discovered their ability.
We see this stigma multiple times, mainly directed towards Atsushi and Chuuya. They both contradict and prove these claims wrong repeatedly, yet there will always be opponents they face who firmly believe these stereotypes.
So we see that stereotyping people based off their abilities is prevalent in the Bungo Stray Dogs world. And then you have characters like Mushitaro, whose ability’s only purpose is to cover up crimes. And character like Kyoka and Fyodor(?), whose abilities can’t do much more than kill. And you’re left wondering where that leaves them, and what chance did they have to not get involved in crime in the first place, with how we could infer this world treats people with abilities like theirs.
And then we have Dazai. The one person who has a fighting chance to see beyond the stereotypes and “ability racism”(?? not really sure what to call prejudice based around superpowers in the Bungo Stray Dogs universe), yet he happens to be the person introducing many of the stereotypes. Of course, you could argue that he has the most experience with ability users and therefore has seen firsthand that these stereotypes are often correct. But that’s besides the point. Back to my first statement about hierarchy.
Dazai exists above the ability hierarchy, because he can shut off any ability at will. The more a person relies on their ability, the more Dazai is a threat to them, putting him far above them on a hierarchal scale. And who tends to rely the most on their abilities? Powerful ability users. The ones who have the most stereotypes against them.
Naturally those are the ones Dazai would end up interacting with most, and given how, in most cases, we can assume they didn’t expect to be dealing with an ability nullifier, they hadn’t planned for this possibility and lost by default. So you can’t really blame Dazia for thinking so low of them, but you also can’t blame them for losing against a variable they had no way of knowing existed in the first place. The stereotypes are incorrect because Nullifier Georg, with negative a million abilities, is an outlier adn should not be counted. [as you can tell I have a favorite Tumblr meme]
BACK TO Q!! BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL ASK!!
That whole entire scene of retrieving Q makes me think of the inherent heirarchy of ability users, but mainly how Dazai stands above them.
Alone in a room with Q and Chuuya, two of the most powerful ability users who can each single-handedly wipe out a city, Dazai is still able to display his dominance. His point is correct, he can kill Q— and Chuuya’s observation that he (Chuuya) wouldn’t be able to do anything about it is correct as well.
I don’t believe that Dazai had any intention of actually killing Q, nor do I believe that Chuuya didn’t realize that Dazai had no intention of doing so. It came across as a power move. “You’re the most powerful ability user in the city, and they’re the most dangerous, yet neither of you could do anything to stop me at this very moment”.
I’m working on my analysis for chapter 31 at the moment (the chapter where this whole scene happens), and of course I point out how wrong and messed up it is to put a knife to an unconscious child’s throat, regardless of if you intend any harm. But another point I bring up repeatedly in the Anti-Dazai Series is how Dazai has this recurring habit of subtly reminding the characters who aren’t fully in control of their abilities (mainly Atsushi and Chuuya) that he’s their only hope. That he’s the only safety net they have. That he’s the only thing standing between them and losing control and killing all their loved ones. So to follow this pattern, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he has Chuuya acknowledge outright that there’s nothing he could do, and then a few panels later reminds Chuuya that he’s the only off switch in the world.
so yeah, Dazai’s not “big brother material” for Q.
and neither is Chuuya, at least not in the scenes we saw them together in— he outright admits he despises Q for killing his own people.
Of course everyone can headcanon whatever they want— have fun and enjoy the fandom experience!! But I personally think Q’s just a kid and they deserve better.

i've been keeping up with eclipse and I love it but I do wonder: if you were chained to a desk and told to write a nico & will book- presumably like rick was- what would that be like? their ending in tower of nero always felt different from the others to me; like everyone else is moving on with their lives and finding their place, but nico and will are still at camp half-blood, and they're both year rounders.
Hi, anon! I'm glad you're loving Eclipse :D I had a lot of fun writing it and the reception it's got so far has been amazing - almost overwhelmingly so, at times, given the amount of people so far who have told me they prefer it to TSATS...
As for what would I write if I was told to write a Solangelo book... I'm actually not going to go into any real detail here because I'm actually working on a new longfic right now which is exactly that - taking the epilogue of TON as it is and drawing that out into a Solangelo-focused quest rather than the detour I took with Eclipse, so hopefully you'll see that appearing in a few months' time :D
I will give a few little hints, though:
More Will-centric plotlines and story. I love Nico, but one of my main issues with the overall TSATS concept long before it was published was that Nico's story arc seemed to be over (he's found his place, he's in therapy etc.) so I wasn't sure what exactly Rick thought he could do with him that didn't ruin what he'd already achieved... Will, on the other hand, has a lot of untapped potential to unlock still, so I want to highlight him a bit more here
Supportive, healthy, Solangelo. I don't believe that you need to put a rift or relationship drama in a story just for the sake of it. We see so much of this healthy support in TOA that I'd love to keep going with that, expanding upon it. That's not to say that they're each other's yes-men, of course, but small disagreements that they resolve with respect for each other's points of view? Always good
Apollo and Hades ares still present and involved. I've actually described working on this plot so far as feeling like I'm having to bat Apollo away with a cardboard tube, because he still doesn't want them to go on a dangerous quest, but also this time I'm not letting him lock them up and go in their place, otherwise that would defeat the whole object of doing a different fic on a similar premise
Plot twists. I'm not saying what they are, but I will say that this quest is probably not going to go the way people think it is - not even Nico and Will!
Regarding your comment about how it feels like all the others are getting on with their lives while Will and Nico are still at camp - Jason's death broke Piper, and Leo's found a family that works better for him than camp did. The likes of Percy and Annabeth are off to university.
But Nico and Will are younger than them. It's difficult to remember at times, especially with Nico because he's been floating in and around the main story since TTC, but as of the end of TOA they're both fifteen, to Percy's nearly eighteen. There's two and a half to three years between them and the original PJO (human) cast, there's about two years between them and the HOO cast - it makes sense that they still have years left at camp. Percy's story as the camp's Big Three Kid has come to an end, and good for him - Nico is now the one stepping up into that role. In many ways, Nico's story, or at least this new, better, chapter of his life, is just beginning. Let him have fun at camp, let him be the child he's suppressed and get up to mischief! Let Will take time to be less responsible, less in charge of not just a full cabin of siblings but also the entire camp's health, and be a child himself. It's true that neither of them will be fully free of their responsibilities, or their trauma, but they've still got so much time to adapt in CHB's understanding environment.
Really, they shouldn't be forced into another Big Thing at all, but we're also looking at the Olympic Revolution looming threateningly in the background, the natural progression that the overarching story Rick's been telling is heading towards, and of course we have this quest teased in TON - which, again, I think should be far more geared towards focusing on Will and his trauma rather than rehashing what we already know and have seen resolved, as much as trauma can ever be resolved, with Nico.

There is something that has been bugging me a lot and I find myself a little alone in this. I honor/worship Loki and their family. I feel particularly close to Sigyn.
This is where I hope I dont get too incoherent. I have had some heathen "friends" I guess if that is what I can call them. Have been pressuring me into honoring/worshipping Freya and I don't really have any interest in doing so. I mean regularly like I do for Loki and their family. I mean I have absolute respect for Freya and how she is just amazing warrior goddess and all but I just dont feel any sort of connection with her. I've tried doing things for Freya but I just dont feel the same like when I do for Sigyn, or even Loki ect.
Their reasoning is that Freya is a goddess that is/was worshipped and that she does or is capable of more than Sigyn. One "friend" even went as far as saying that Sigyn is a "domesticated" goddess and is basically a servant for Loki, holding the bowl, having children ect. and that Freya was a better choice. I won't lie this hurt me a lot I love Sigyn.
So is it wrong to not worship a deity that is a big part of Norse heathenry... I guess? I've even been shamed in a group for not worshipping Freya on a few occasions. Is it ok to just not be interested in a goddess like Freya? I feel kind of guilty sometimes.
If you take/took the time to read this, I'm saying thanks in advance. I've followed your blog for a while and I trust your level headed opinion.
Sorry this took me a while to get to. I wanted to get into the right frame of mind for this one.
Short answer:
You can work with whoever you please, because the only "right" way to be Heathen is to do what feels right for you. No one else can be the judge of that.
Long answer:
The big thing to keep in mind as you explore Heathenry is the fact that it's decentralized, which means it has no central authority or universal doctrines. This is why we see tons of regional differences between practices and even myths, both within the past and in the present.
However, the idea of "no governing authority" can be tricky to navigate and uncomfortable to deal with, so a lot of people latch onto "Reconstructionism" as a way to guide them.
Here's the catch though: Any authentic attempt at reconstruction requires us to narrow down a specific time and place to reconstruct from, because, again, Heathenry has always been decentralized. What's true in one place and time is false in another place and time.
For example: We know for a fact there was a time when Freyja and Frigg were actually the same goddess! I could make the argument that everyone is wrong for viewing them as separate, because this split happened in the late Nordic Iron Age and contact with the Romans changed everything, blah, blah, blah.
(I actually have no clue when the split happened or why, but you get my point.)
Most people don't do this, however. Instead we see a lot of patchwork reconstruction that involves interpreting the deeper meaning behind entirely political 13th-century Icelandic texts. While this is a very Christian way to go about it, people often take this approach because it's all they know.
This leads to arguments like the ones you've experienced, and from what I see, they were made out of a place of insecurity rather than a place of actual knowledge...and definitely not from a place of wisdom.
I've talked to Swedes whose families have passed down their Heathen oral traditions for gods know how many generations. Sigyn is associated with children, child-rearing, and general domestic life, but definitely not in the "50's housewife" kind of way. She's spicy, witty enough to keep up with Loki, and will absolutely wreck the idiot that dares to mess with her charges. She's a woman who does things of her own free will, including marrying her wacky spouse, having kids, holding the bowl, etc. At no point does anyone view her as a "servant."
Do your "friends" want to argue with those who grew up with the surviving oral traditions?
I say all this because I think it's important for you to think about what's informing these criticisms, and at what point they stop holding any weight. Reconstructionism can only go so far before it fails to provide useful religious data, and trying to stick with it results in fantastical interpretation or historical reenactment. Wisdom is knowing where to draw that line.
You don't have to work with a major deity if you don't want to. I promise Freyja won't take offense (and tbh she'd, probably point you back in Sigyn's direction anyway, because your private bonds are far more important than "playing a role" in your community. You're a person, not a prop.)
I'll also advise that, rather than spending energy trying to change people's minds, you should instead use that energy to seek out a better crowd. If people are going to insult your practice and your goddess, they don't deserve to have you in their community.
I strongly recommend looking into Heathen Women United for a good facebook group, if you're in the market for one.

babe. when i first came to you with the idea for jailbait steve i knew you would get it. at most i was hoping for maybe a bit of a smutty blurb that toed the line with age appropriateness and all that.
but you took that idea and fucking ran with it and it was so so so good! i honestly do not have that words but i’m gonna try!
i love all the weird, crazy hints to you dropped about eddie. him low-key stalking steve, him jerking off to the thought of him, just everything about him being that freak that he is made my heart so full!!
steve, the little minx, was absolutely perfect. loved that he was always finding a way to insert himself into eddie’s day and playing up the innocent act!
oh god i want more i want so much more. you’re sexy and incredible and beautiful and wonderful and maybe my favourite author in this fandom!! thank you so much for writing it! i may have to go read it again right now!
p.s. the bits with hellfire were spot on as well! i loved the subtle hints you made towards gareth being intrigued by steve! (would love to see how that plays out in this universe too because i know eddie would train steve good and share him with his best friend, he’s charitable like that!)
— jailbait!steve anon 🍭
hi there!!! oh my gosh original jailbait!steve anon, all I can say is thank you so much for giving me the idea that sparked the entire fic, I'm not sure I ever would have thought of it without you, so thank you.
It was really important to me when I was writing it not just to let it be a smutty, kinky fic, because I thought the potential for it to be so much more about yearning and forbidden desire was there. Near the start of the fic when they meet in the clearing, I also write that there's a sense of recognition between Steve and Eddie, and that was my little implication that it's canon Steve and Eddie meeting in another universe after both dying during the events of Stranger Things. And that's also why they're so inexplicably drawn to each other. I'm not sure if that really comes across because I wanted to keep it very subtle but in my head that layer was always there.
And yes, I'm so committed to a depiction of Eddie that's a little more wild than you usually see in fic. I like to hc him as having a somewhat feral childhood because his parents were never around and he grew up in poverty. I also see him a survivor of child abuse and neglect, and that's given him a thick skin. My Eddie is probably a little harder than the one in canon, but I hope he still feels like Eddie! He's the same, he just has a few more edges on him. The same with Steve. I didn't want him to be a one-dimensional sexpot, but a character who's complex and who feels like the Steve Harrington we all know and love from the show, who has the capacity to be cruel, entitled and prickly but who ultimately is vulnerable and kind, who more than anything wants to be loved.
Your words about me as a writer are incredibly lovely, and I'm honoured to be one of your favourite authors in the fandom, especially considering I haven't written much! But it's always my intention to bring a different point of view and to step away from accepted fanon where I can to explore the characters in slightly different ways, and to use them to explore themes and dynamics that interest me, which is very much what I did in this fic. I would love to write more when I can, so fingers crossed this won't be the last we see of this Steve and Eddie!
omg and DON'T tempt me re Gareth dhdhdhs I already have a little fic in progress where Gareth has had a crush on Steve for years so Eddie lets him fuck Steve. It's messy and yucky but sweet and tender and I can't wait to post it so you can read it!!!
Thank you so much again for the inspiration, I'm so, so happy the fic was all you hoped it would be and more 💖💖💖
