At least three Raphaels have taken on superhero personas in situations where they were working without their brothers. Also situations where they were variable amounts of not okay.
87!Raphael becomes the Green Defender when he thinks he's dying and decides to make the world a better place before he does. He's not with the others because he can't handle saying goodbye to them and doesn't want to drag them into danger.
07!Raphael becomes Nightwatcher to continue protecting New York when either Splinter or Donatello has forbidden it. He's resentful of his brothers for making him do this alone and for not noticing it's him and it's destroying his relationships with them.
Rise!Raphael becomes the Red Angel of Preventing Harm when his brothers just don't want to fight crime with him. It's less of a big deal than in 07 - they're still going out with him sometimes - but this is the Raph who copes worst with being alone.
Despite how awful colds can be, it’s nice to see the little gestures of care from loved ones. My own family tended to make me tea, so I’d end up with new mugs accumulating whenever I woke up lol
I hope that anyone who’s feeling under the weather can get that care, and that you feel better soon! Well wishes :)
Wow, just wow. @somerandomdudelmao, your series was incredible. I only found your comic in July and I didn’t become an active tumblr user/follower till September, but I’m so glad I got to watch this project come to a close. The ROTTMNT fandom wouldn’t be the same without you and your comic. You’ve inspired so many people, including me, and I just want to say thank you, Cass. Thank you for making my year a little bit brighter. Thank you for reigniting my love of art. Thank you for creating. Thank you for existing.
You’re no longer just some random dude lmao. You’re the creature who fixed the apocalypse, the creature who brought together thousands of people and built a family. A family of turtles and fans.
In honor of C.A.S I wanted to color and animate the final panel of the comic. Im still learning color theory and digital art but you’ve inspired me to improve, and what better way to start than with the end? It was a beautiful ending, so perfectly paced and full of a peaceful hope twinged with a bittersweet sadness. Your comic might be done, but this turtle family will live on forever.
Now go take a well-deserved nap and relish in your success!
[id: it is an animated gif of the turtles from rottmnt. raph is coming up behind the other turtles, arms spread and a mischievous smile on his face. they notice him and he then picks them all up close to his chest before coming back down while holding them in his arms. a small yellow spikey speech bubbles pops up behind raph with text that reads "HAPPY TMNT DAY"./ end id]
I had the same reaction when I learned this about these rabbit-shaped slugs
You can't tell me this guy wouldn't recreate at least ONE Ariel scene
And last put certainly not least, portraits!
I had so much fun drawing @somerandomdudelmao's sea turtle au! I just had to draw them when I first saw their designs!! Leo has my favorite design, but Donnie is my favorite to draw. And adding their patterns was just so satisfying.
I want to thank Cass for these beautiful designs they made and for letting me make art of them. I can't wait to draw them more in the future!
I love Raph and haven’t said that enough so to be more specific I love that Raph is a soft boy who loves bear plushies, a gross boy who eats an assortment of things that are definitely better left alone, a smart boy who is more than capable of taking down villains through planning and fortitude alike, a strong boy who is dedicated to training his muscles and fighting prowess, a teenage boy who loves his brothers but is more than happy to tease and roughhouse with them, an angry boy who sometimes lets his anger take a hold of him to cover the fear, a gentle boy who is generous with hugs and affirmations to those he loves, a capable boy who takes on more than should ever be expected of a teenager, a good boy who just wants to be a hero and slowly comes to realize the cost of that duty, a good boy who has no reservations about putting himself in the way of harm coming to his family, a good boy who’s a great brother and son and person and deserves only the best the world has to offer.
