You're more amazing than spellcasting
I just got a big ol' bag of KitKats today as a gift from my mom fuck yeah I'm gonna make magic cards about it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I don't remember why but the idea of a saga creature got put into my head so while I was making KitKat cards I also made this
Tumblr media
#asks#custom cards#is the professor balanced? i have no idea#the only comparable creature is that one from AWBO that starts with 4 oil counters and dies when it runs out#but you're supposed to prolong that one with proliferate#numbers wise this card is bonkers#you get a 4/4 haste a 3/2 and an Inspired Charge for just 4 mana#but it's given out really slowly and you lose the big creature after 2 turns#so i have NO IDEA how strong this card is#i think it's somewhere between good and broken#so you know. an average rare card#a creature that automatically kills itself isn't very appealing so i don't expect saga creatures to become a set mechanic#not in standard at least#just like how Urza's Saga was printed in a supplemental set#anyway i came up with the lorehold idea almost instantly when i started making the card#i was writing the typeline “Enchantment Creature Saga... huh. what creature type could be a living story? spirit maybe? OH!”#lol i don't even care that much for strixhaven or lorehold but the flavor feels kinda perfect#a spirit called from the past to relive their history#not legendary because there were lots of professors that lorehold staff and students remember as “the finest professor”#it's not really an objective thing lol#though a saga commander would be really neat#like that “Origin story” mechanic from last week's inventor's fair#not even as a saga creature or in addition to a creature i think just a saga commander would be really neat#anyway i'm going back and forth on whether the professor should have vigilance or first strike#first strike would make it able to attack without fear of getting multi-blocked and killed#but that might be too strong#actually how good is a 4-drop 4/4 haste?#checking gatherer: pretty good apparently#but a 4-drop 4/4 haste that dies in 2 turns? hmm#but if your opponent doesn't kill it early then it gives you tons of value

I woke up hyperaware of every inch of my body. A bone must be missing, a tooth or two my hair feels like an extension of the pillow that i hide my dreams underneath
And my head is too heavy with the weight of everything I said i will think about later…
Childhood, adolescence, adulthood
It all overlaps sometimes, and I worry that my childhood is all I’m going to grow up to live and relive.
I worry that it’s a punishment,
Like Prometheus; that I’ll spend my nights picking at it trying to cleanse myself from all that a young version of me wasn’t strong enough to process
only to wake up and realize I’m carrying it between my ribs again.
To be pregnant with another girl that will relive my life like I’m reliving my mothers.
Tumblr media
I’m overthinking again
Stages of life like gates to the many graveyard’s that I have built inside me.
A sanctuary
A place of residence to all the feelings i had no time to over analyze.
I digged my phone from underneath the pillow, something must be said..
A phantom of the words that are trying to escape is at hands reach..
An Aura. A migraine.
Its 04:51 am. The sun didn’t rise yet, why am I awake again?
Thoughts are fighting each other for a way out, like a newborn waiting to be called by a name, any would be fine; as long as it gets acknowledgment.
On my way to the bathroom, i stumbled upon keywords
Some that I believe i missed the night before..
When anxiety was eating another pathway for itself. A way out, out of my brain
Necrosis.

I spent the past couple of months studying all that can go wrong in a woman’s body.
Starting from puberty highlighting child bearing period and ending with menopause.
It’s all prewritten
And I get mad with rage because improvisations are treated like a sin that can never be forgiven.
I watched women bleeding incomplete lives from between their legs, that without shedding a tear.
We’re used to that, aren’t we ?
Bleeding.
And incomplete lives.
Distant dreams of motherhood bleeding classic tragedies into an ink jar
to be hand written as another passage in the wrenching history of all the fabricated religious books that swore by women.

“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Luke 15:10
EVANGELISM OPPORTUNITIES EVERYWHERE
Pastor Joseph Bondarenko sat on the sunny deck of the Russian river boat as it pulled out of Tyumen in Siberia and headed north up the river. The leaves on the trees were already changing colour in a blaze of autumn beauty. But this was no Love Boat. On board this old river scow were over one hundred and fifty other Christians joining this adventure. The passengers were there to assist in a one-month evangelism outreach in northern Siberian cities — places where the Gospel had not been preached before.
As Joseph soaked in the beauty of the sun and God’s creation, he thought back on his early ministry years in the nineteen fifties and sixties. His aggressive evangelism in those days resulted in imprisonment three times. Yet there in those filthy prison cells, God was still present and his ministry continued. Joseph led so many to Christ in prison that they kicked him out each time. In total he lived nine years in a prison cell, isolated from his beloved wife, Mary.
He smiled to himself as he recalled that eventful day in 1989 when the KGB agent who had him imprisoned came to talk. The officer had been watching him for years and now articulated his desire to know Jesus too. Joseph’s spirit leaped with joy as he thought back on the day that KGB agent and his family were baptised. Nothing is impossible with God.
He relived the many crusades in recent years when Open Doors provided as many as twenty thousand Russian Scriptures for new believers who responded to the call of God on their life.
And now with a group of musicians, preachers and follow-up personnel his vision for evangelism was continuing to be fulfilled; one whole month stopping and preaching at twenty cities along the main rivers of Siberia. At the end of the month, Joseph’s “crusade” had seen over 10,000 people pray the sinner’s prayer and commit their lives to the Lord! And even more exciting is the fact that Christian young people were left behind in sixteen communities to do follow-up training and establish new churches.
On the walls of a hall in Joseph’s church is the missionary journey history of this local body and the missionary vision maps. Joseph becomes very animated and excited as he traces the colour-coded missionary journeys for the past summers that young evangelists he is training had made into Siberia and onward toward the Far East. But more exciting for him are the dotted lines that lay out next summer’s trip plans. They reached right to the Pacific Ocean!
Like his Master, Joseph went through much suffering and deprivation in his life. But like his Master, nothing gives Joseph more joy than knowing the angels in heaven were rejoicing.
Response
Today I will recommit to share the good news of the Gospel with everyone wherever I am.
Prayer
Pray that the many Joseph Bondarenko’s of our world will continue to bear much fruit.

could you do Fallout New Vegas companion’s reactions to a Courier Six who is also the Lone Wanderer telling their stories from their time in DC? (bonus points for Arcade’s reaction to them hating the enclave, and if that would make him decide to keep his past hidden even longer, or if he would still tell them?)
The logistics and implications of this make my head spin. This is also super long, honestly I should just quit writing reacts and start writing fics OH WAIT
Getting the courier talking was a tough thing to do, but on nights where the moon was full and the coyotes' howls were miles away or at least behind some stout walls, on nights where they were a few beers in and they hadn't seen another living soul in a few days, that Mojave Express deliverer started to reminisce. That wasn't really the surprising part, though. No, the surprising part was what they would remember, fondly or not-so-fondly: A world apart from the desert, a continent away on another coast, and stories of life in a vault, a missing father, pure water and a Brotherhood divided.
Arcade Gannon: Arcade didn't mind these moods, at least when they first cropped up. He nodded along as the courier talked about living in their father's shadow, about feeling cornered by their own family's legacy. He hung on their words about living in the cradle of America's history, about Project Purity, all of the gritty details of modifying a GECK to bring water to a devastated wasteland.
Eventually though, the courier's memories soured, with the arrival of Enclave remnants in their life. Arcade folded into himself with every harsh word, every jolt of plasma that had disrupted his friend's world relived in horrific detail. They gestured angrily as they described their newfound purpose, their battle for power with the fractured Brotherhood of Steel at their back, and their smug satisfaction at the moments they were able to crack open Raven Rock and the Enclave's mobile base crawler and lay waste to their tormentors.
It took a few rounds of these stories before the courier noticed he shrank and grew quiet whenever they neared the end of their story about breaking into another vault to find the GECK. They stopped abruptly one night. "What's up with you?"
"Um..." Arcade scratched the back of his neck and looked away. "Nothing. Nothing, I just... have some personal experience with the Enclave, myself."
The courier sighed. "Yeah, there's a few people walking around the West Coast that have similar stories to mine. Arroyo's full of them, for one. Is it something like that?"
Arcade took a deep breath. "I feel... well, it's a lot closer to home, for me. Close enough to raise questions, so I don't talk about it much."
"Close enough to..." The courier twisted their face up in confusion for a moment, before realization set in and their eyes grew large. "You were... your... oh."
"Mmm-hm."
"Well, fuck me." The courier smiled and popped a cap off of another beer. "I've been doing all the talking, haven't I? Let's hear your story about working with the guys in power armor who ruined my life, right after dad did."
Craig Boone: Whenever the courier started up like this, Boone couldn't help but notice a familiar twinge of regret and self-doubt in their voice. It shone through most clearly when they spoke about their time with the Brotherhood of Steel, the men and women they'd fought alongside and lost during their struggle against the remnants of the Enclave. It was there, too, in their story about returning to the vault they grew up in, setting the chaos that had arisen in their wake to rest, but not being able to go back to the way things were.
Boone didn't pry. He knew that feeling well. Instead, he cracked open bottles of beer, liquor, soda, whatever they had on hand during their nights in the desert, and just listened. He'd done the same for Carla, when they were younger and new to each other and he couldn't get enough of her voice and how it flowed endlessly, easily, the way his never could. He absorbed it all now as he did then: The joy, the pain, the loss, the fear, the triumphs and falls and abandoned dreams that filled the courier up and drove them to travel west, beyond anything they had ever known.
That last part stumped Boone a bit, though. "Why didn't you stay?" he finally asked one night.
They looked surprised. "Stay? Stay where? I didn't have a home anymore."
Boone shook his head. "With the Brotherhood. Or some other settlement."
"Like Megaton?" The courier sighed. "I thought about it. Close to the vault, friendly people, easy work... I guess I just didn't want to wind up... stuck."
They flushed red and looked away from him. Boone knew why they were embarrassed, but he also knew the truth in their words.
Sometimes the courier cried after they had finished, though they did their best to hide it. Boone pretended not to notice. He was pretty sure they knew he was pretending, but he was also pretty sure that pointing it out would be worse than just letting it be an open secret between them. The silence between them endured, but something grew inside it and flourished. Some kind of deeper understanding.
Lily Bowen: The more the courier spoke, the more Lily made connections in her muddled mind. Of course they knew the basic layout of most vaults, they had grown up in one. Of course they were extra-sensitive to the Mojave heat, they had come to the desert from the cooler of the two coasts. Of course they'd been extra-wary around the super mutants or nightkin of Jacobstown, they had only known angry super mutants looking to grow their own numbers through any means necessary.
Their shared experience of growing up inside a vault reminded Lily of happier days, and she often asked questions about Vault 101 during the courier's stories. "Were you sweet on anyone inside your old home?" she asked, with a big smile befitting a proud grandma.
The courier blushed. "That's not very polite, Lily."
"Oh, I'm sorry, dearie."
"No, no it's okay." The courier smiled. "There was a boy who picked on me a lot, but I never figured out whether he did it because he hated me or liked me. His name was Butch. And there was Amata, my childhood friend. She was the daughter of the Overseer."
"Daughter of the Overseer?" Lily grinned. "I'm sure she was a lovely young woman."
The courier looked a little misty. "Yeah. She was. Probably still is."
Lily pulled a handkerchief that used to be a small tablecloth from inside her overalls and handed it over. "Maybe we can go back there together, pumpkin," she offered. "I always wanted to travel to the capital. We can visit your friends, see the sights."
"Yeah, maybe someday." The courier accepted the gift and blew their nose. "I've got some things I need to finish up here before I even think about wandering back east, though."
"Then let's make a list and do our chores," Lily said happily. "Number one?"
"Ohhhh, man." The courier smiled up at her. "I wouldn't even know where to start."
Raul Alfonso Tejada: Raul got a faint smile on his face whenever the courier started up like this, as if their memories reminded him of another place he had come from, another time. While they couldn't have more different backgrounds, pasts- hell, he had several hundred years on the courier, even if they shared the same road today- there was something in the description of the other roads they had walked that made him feel warm on a cold night.
"What's on your mind?" The courier asked him one night, when Raul's smile grew larger than usual.
"Nada, boss," he reassured them. "You're just a good reminder that I can change my mind about the future anytime I'd like. Tell me the one about that radio DJ again."
"Again?" The courier rolled their eyes. "Why? I could tell you a million stories about Underworld and all the ghouls that lived there, but all you want to hear about is Three Dog. You'd probably have more in common with the Underworld folks, honestly."
Raul nodded noncommittally. "Sí, but my favorite stories are about people who had to rise above bad situations and become someone uncommon. Anyone who's able to do that is either fighting for something great or running from something terrible. Sometimes both."
The courier shot him a skeptical look. "Three Dog's holed up in his radio station 24/7, he's not running from anything or out fighting for anything. All that stuff about 'the good fight' is a load of bull."
"Now, now, Six," Raul chastised. "Just because he looks like your average pendejo doesn't mean he isn't doing his part. You even told me his radio show is inspirational for the Capital Wasteland folks."
The courier held their hands up in the air and bobbled them, as if balancing an invisible scale. "The duality of man. Being an average pendejo, or convincing everyone around you that you aren't actually an average pendejo and can pull off miracles."
Raul laughed. "And which one are you, boss?"
"Eh, I'm still figuring it out."
Rose of Sharon Cassidy: Cass was never one for fixating on her own past, but she couldn't help but sympathize with the courier whenever they deigned to add onto their unbelievable story. It was hard enough for her to navigate her own damn life: She couldn't imagine being called upon to steer an entire area's destiny.
After another night of recalling their life inside a vault with their dad, then their unexpected loss of him right after being reunited on the surface, the courier stopped suddenly. "I'm sorry," they said.
Cass paused her swig of precious whiskey. "What?"
"I keep going on and on about my dad, and here you are not knowing what happened to yours."
"Eh." Cass took her drink and waved her hand around until the burning swallow made its way down. "S'loads of people in the wasteland without a clue what happened to their pops. I'm not special. In fact, I'd say it probably hurts a bit more, what happened with yours."
"Well, all the same." The courier sank deeper into their seat and examined their own bottle of spirits. "I feel like an open book, tonight. Anything you want to know about where I came from that I haven't already spilled?"
Cass thought for a moment. "Tribals."
"What about them?"
"Does the East Coast have them? You're not the first traveler I've met from there, but none of you have so much as mentioned any tribals out east."
"Mmm." The courier looked thoughtful. "I guess we do have them, though maybe not in the traditional sense. There's a mess of them in Point Lookout for sure, and at least one tribal group in the Capital Wasteland outright, but beyond that things are more... loose. Fewer intact families, fewer intact homes."
"Huh." Cass took another drink. "Maybe that's where my dad went."
She let the courier stew in the awkward silence for a bit before she grinned and reached out to smack them. "Just kidding. Keep going. I want to hear about that giant robot again."
Veronica Santangelo: Veronica usually sat and listened, spellbound, picturing a chapter of her order that had realized the very thing she kept trying to tell the Elders and made the ultimate sacrifice to follow their hearts anyway.
Well, maybe Elder Owyn Lyons hadn't come to the same realization as her, but he had had a change of heart that split his company and cut them off from almost everyone they had ever known. It had been five years since the High Elders had instituted radio silence toward their East Coast chapter, and so far there had been no attempts to re-establish contact.
Veronica prodded the courier for any info she could get about the Capital Wasteland Brotherhood of Steel. The courier let slip pretty early in their friendship that Elder Owyn Lyons had passed away, which wasn't unexpected. The man was 76 years old, after all. She learned on one particularly emotional night that his daughter, Elder Sarah Lyons, was also dead, something she wasn't sure even the Western Elders were aware of. That memory was clearly painful for the courier though, so Veronica didn't press for details.
"And the Enclave?" the Scribe asked one night, arms wrapped around her knees. "Are they completely gone?"
The courier grew cold. "Yes. I made sure of it."
"Right." Veronica nodded. "So the Brotherhood took over the air force base they were at. It must have been chock-full of tech and resources, if it was the Enclave's last stand."
"It was." The courier sighed and shifted in their seat. "And it woke up some of our brothers and sisters to their original mission in the Capital Wasteland. I thought maybe that selfishness had died with Liberty Prime, but... well, I didn't like it, so I left."
"Mmm, yeah." Veronica nodded again, sympathetically this time. "I know how you feel. Felt."
"Feel," the courier agreed. "I just wish there was more I could've done. Maybe there wasn't anything else, short of seizing power."
"You'd definitely get pushback for that in the Brotherhood," Veronica agreed. "But you might get that chance out here in the broader Mojave."
ED-E: At first, ED-E enjoyed the stories, trumpeting and cooing various beeps at the appropriate moments for emphasis. The one time the courier began badmouthing the Enclave, however, the eyebot waited until they had finished before playing back the first tape that Dr. Whitley had recorded before its trip.
The courier listened to the scientist's words from years ago, deflating slightly as it played out. When the tape had finished, they stood up and checked the eyebot over. "He sent you toward Navarro, huh?"
ED-E beeped affirmation, and the courier sighed. "But Navarro was already gone. I'm sorry. I guess I'm... well, me and the Brotherhood of Steel back east are responsible for your previous master's decision to send you away. Might be responsible for more, too."
ED-E beeped sadly. The courier pressed their forehead against the eyebot's metal dome in apology.
Rex: Well, surprising for most. Rex was not most. As soon as the courier got really into their recollections, Rex usually yawned and went to sleep. He stirred when he felt their hand reach down to scratch the ruff of his neck, or pat the glass dome that held his brain.
"Good dog," the courier said, through the veil of sleep. "You remind me of another pup that used to follow me around."

yes im very sure! i dont really care about it being complete i just like to read
AUGH I SPENT LIKE TWO HOURS ON THIS AND TUMBLR RELOADED
okok here we go I’m putting ‘em under a cut
I love Frigid by ImmortalCoalecanth, the characterization is great and I’m a sucker for MC teams up with a boss :)
Who Doesn’t Like Hat Kid? by MonsterMonsoon is super fun and WE GET SOME BIRD BONDING TIME YEAHH— I think it’s incomplete but the chapters are somewhat self-contained so it’s not too bad?
Little Deals by Insecuriousity is an unexpected but not unwelcome backstory for the Walrus Captain’s ship, involving a certain ghost ;)
Warm by Skippyin is a unique take on Snatcher’s backstory!
Illiteracy by eggsinsunnyside features Hat Kid not knowing how to read, the perfect excuse for some bonding huehue...
A Little Hatted Borrower by MonsterMonsoon is that borrower fic I mentioned, I love it so much 😭 Sometimes I still go back and reread it even though I know it cuts off right when it picks up hhh
A House Full of Monsters is also by MonsterMonsoon! It’s an AU where the bosses (and some others) are secretly monsters, and also roommates :DD Plenty of found family, although it too is unfinished.
A House That Walks by Drakka is inspired by the last one, but contains violence/blood so be warned.
Into the Lions’ Den by Krekka01 features Hat Kid getting some closure with Empress post-Rush Hour!
la loi, c’est moi by MiniNephthys is hilarious and has some actual lawyer Snatcher which is great :)
The Puppeteer by ZurielWritings23 has Moonjumper, boss fights, and possession, oh my!
Empress’ Revenge, also by ZurielWritings23, includes another very well-written boss fight, plus some momma CC and dadtcher as a treat.
We also have From the Stars by Yacer_Sho, which gives a very creative backstory to Hat Kid and has three whole endings! I won’t spoil anything else ;)
Loopholes by Fruisun is very cute and features Snatcher being a big ol’ tsundere ^^
Christmas in Subcon Forest by DeckofDragons is short and sweet, although it is still June...
I like the characterization in Tired by StellaHope, and it also includes some lovely art at the end!
The Harsh Winter’s Creep by SmugSpecter has a good mix of fluff and angst, and I must admit I‘m also a sucker for protective dadtcher 👀
Quality Time(pieces) by automatonBoy has some cool headcanons and my beloved Snatcher + Hat Kid interactions <3
Rest by DeckofDragons is kind of a sick fic but PLOT TWIST it’s Snatcher who’s sick-ish!!
I’ll save myself some time and recommend the whole series Tales of the Fire Spirits by SilyaBeeodess! It gives the fire spirits some amazing lore which I don’t remember seeing anyone else do before.
Music by DeckofDragons is part of that phase where everyone on Ao3 wrote about Snatchman playing the violin bc of that one artwork lolol
lovely little glass roses by schrodingers_cat is a history of Vanessa, and BEAUTIFULLY written!
gilt edges, traitor hearts by noxes involves a mer AU by MonsterMonsoon, and some Dadjumper!
You’re My BFF by automatonBoy is adorable and we finally get some genuinely nice Moonjumper on this list :D I also absolutely love that one line about Hat Kid being able to tell Snatcher’s general “kid” from his secretly affectionate “kid” hvhjgh ❤️❤️
Bad Place for a Window by Cardigan_Quincy is short, but has some great characterization :)
Captured by DeckofDragons! What’s that? More protective dadtcher? Don’t mind if I do owo
Revenge and a Little Bit More by owlcakes has a similar premise, but DANG it’s long. To summarize, Empress gets REKT lmbo
Reliving An Old Nightmare by Erekio is about Snatcher suddenly finding himself human again... and back in the past. There’s an element of mystery to it, so I won’t say much else, but every chapter is accompanied by illustrations! Erekio has redrawn a few of them here on tumblr :)
Dwellings of the Ancient Gods by Nosferatank is super well written, and involves some Twilight Bell shenanigans :)
Chapter 3: Contractual Obligations by Ina (CosmicKouhai) is part of a larger AU where all the bosses go into their respective Purple Time Rifts with Hat Kid, I think? It’s pretty cool!
Snowcon Forest by ImmortalCoalecanth is AMAZING and I definitely recommend you read it!! It was one of the first things I read for this fandom, and what got me into dadtcher <3
Best in the Business by MysticDoodle is a Mandelorian-inspired AU! (You don’t need to have seen the Mandelorian to enjoy it, I haven’t haha) It’s very creative, and I like the characters so far!
Beware the Frozen Heart by NanixErka is a cool concept, wherin the thing that happens to Anna in Frozen basically happens to Hat Kid D:
Do you think your love could transcend time and space? by twip/twipsai is a soulmate AU with tons of found family and fluff that I‘m sucking up like Rumbi ;w;
Familial Obligations by BumblingBriars is about Snatcher finding Hat Kid as a baby, and raising her :D It indirectly inspired BGDC! But that’s a story for another time, haha.
The Girl And The Ghost by phantomthief_fee is a Beauty and the Beast AU, but with friendship in place of romance! =)
I like the concept of Sinking Feeling by ThunderDragonFruit, and also agree :’( @ Gearsforbreakfast more CC content pls
The Forest is calling (can’t you hear it whisper?) by Kayuri and Mint_Mint features sentient Subcon and OCs turning into canon characters! I’ve never seen something like it before, but it’s written very well 👍
Nothing Special by ToothpasteDragon is based on MonsterMonsoon’s borrower AU so you know I’m gonna eat it up :’)
Also Wrong Place at the Wrong Time by ToothpasteDragon, based on MonsterMonsoon’s monster AU! (There’s a bit of blood in this one)
Recall by Galakii features a time loop, which is cool!
What’s in a Name by Raeolu involves shenanigans with the pronunciation of Hat Kid’s real name. Always a fun one ^^
The Part-Time Puppeteer by Erekio is also pretty funny! It’s based on the puppet AU by Fedoraspooky which I love <3 Aaa musical theatre and theatre in general is my favorite :D
I’ve also been following A Cloak in Time’s Trials by ElectricBlaster, which gives Hat Kid a shipmate for her adventures! It has a large focus on an OC, Cloak Kid, which may not be for everyone, but I like him :)
And FINALLY, be kind (rewind) by fivers, featuring another time loop and four whole dads! Have I mentioned yet that I am also an absolute sucker for found family 👀
(I’d also like to mention that idk if they count as fanfics but I enjoy MysteryMan_17’s AU Concept write-ups :D)
Phew, finally! I probably forgot at least one tbh, if I remember any I’ve forgotten I’ll edit this ^^ AND, absolutely no pressure to any authors of the unfinished fics to complete them! I completely understand losing motivation and/or interest in something, and your mental and physical health are more important than any silly fanfiction ^^

THEYRE KILLING BLACK WOMEN, AND CHILDREN FOR THEIR ORGANS BECAUSE A WHITE PERSON'S ORGANS ARE TOO DEFICIENT. THE PRO WHITE MEDIAS SCHOLARS, AND HIGHLY ACCLAIMED DOCTORS HAVE BEEN PUSHING THIS FALSE PROPOGANDA FOR MANY DECADES THAT STATES BLACK PEOPLES BODIES ARE PRONE TO HEREDITARY ILLNESSES SUCH AS HEART DISEASE, DIABETES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, SICKLE CELL ANEMIA, AND OF COURSE SHORTER LIFE EXPECTANCY. WHICH IS CAUSED BY LIVING UNDER TOO MUCH STRESS, AND BEING MURDERED AT THE AGE OF 12 BY YOUR LOCAL POLICE AUTHORITY. THEREFORE WE'RE NOT SUFFICIENT DONORS FOR ORGAN TRANSPLANTING. THIS IS THE ILLUSION THEY PRESENT BEFORE US IN A CONVINCING MANNER WHILE MY PEOPLE PERISH FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. THE US GOV'T NEVER INTENDS FOR MINE OR YOUR BLACK ASS TO SURVIVE THIS HOLOCAUST, BUT THEYRE NOT GOD. THE WUHAN COVID-19 VIRUS WAS CREATED IN ORDER TO DESTROY 2/3 OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA LIKE AIDS, EBOLA, SMALLPOX. ALL OF THESE DISEASES HAVE ORIGINS OR CONNECTIONS TO ALKEBULAN. IF GOD DIDN'T LOVE THE PEOPLE OF ALKEBULAN WHY WOULD HE SUSTAIN US FOR THIS LONG? REVENGE!!! THE PALE HORSE IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION HAS ALREADY RODE ACROSS THIS LAND. FAMINE, DEATH, DISEASE, WARS, AND RUMORS OF WARS. THIS SHIT'S KICKING INTO HIGH GEAR. DO NOT COMPROMISE YOUR SOUL OR BOW DOWN TO THOSE WHO'VE SWORN AN ALLEGIANCE TO LUCIFER, IT ISN'T WORTH IT. YOU'RE GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CHOSEN ELECT, AND GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE. MANY OF US ARE NOT READY FOR THE KINGDOME. THOSE WHO WORSHIP EVERYTHING WHITE, WHICH BEWILDERS MY INSANITY, YOU SHOULD WORSHIP THE MESSIAH CALLED YESHUA, AND HIS FATHER WHOSE SON, YESHUA CALLED HIS FATHER'S INHERITANCE GODS. IF OUR OWN PEOPLE KNEW OR BELIEVED THE TRUTH, MAYBE THEY WOULDN'T BE SO EAGER TO BETRAY US. IF THE PEOPLE OF GOD'S INIGNATION FOREVER UNDERSTOOD THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THEIR CRIMES AGAINST THE MOST HIGH'S CHILDREN THEY WOULD QUICKLY PLACE ANOTHER HAT UPON THEIR HEADS WITHOUT QUESTION, AND DISCARD THE MARK OF THE BEAST. BLACK PEOPLE LIKE SHINY NEW THINGS THAT IN TRUTH IS NOTHING NEW TO ANYONE'S EYES. WHEN YOU SEE A WHITE CHILD RAP, SPITTING RHYMES FREESTYLE, ADOPT HIMSELF TO OUR CULTURE, OR POP LOCK AT YOUR FAMILY REUNION, AND HE'S ABOUT AS BLACK AS GUNTHER FROM WEST GERMANY, WITH GOLD LOCKS, AND EYES SO BLUE YOUR GRANDMA WHO KNOWS BETTER CALLS HIM SATAN. INWARDLY HE MAY HATE YOUR GUTS. WE ACT SHOCKED, AND AMAZED AS IF GOD, AND MOSES JUST PARTED THE RED SEA WHEN DAMION SINGS SHE'S OUT OF MY LIFE BY MICHAEL JACKSON. GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS FAMILY, AND STOP TALKING TO LIGHT SKIN KEISHA. SHE'S WORKING HER WAY BACK TO THE FATHER, NOT YOUR DAMN HAREM. A WHITE MESSIAH WILL NOT DELIVER US FROM OUR PLIGHT CONTRARY TO WHAT WE'VE BEEN TAUGHT IT'S ALL A DIABOLICAL FALSEHOOD. WE PRAY TO THE SAME GOD AS THEY DO; WRONG!!! THEY ARE PRAYING, AND ASKING HIM TO KILL US, AND WE ARE SEEKING HIM FOR A PEACE OF MIND, AND DELIVERANCE. YESHUA ISN'T WHITE.

“And laid open the book of the law, wherein the heathen had sought to paint the likeness of their images.”
THIS IS THE ACCURSED, DUPLICITOUS DICHOTOMY WE'VE FOUND OURSELVES LIVING UNDER. IF YOU WANT TO CALL ME DIVISIVE I ASK YOU WHEN HAS THIS NATION EVER BEEN UNITED? THE TRUTH HURTS, AND HELL IS A BITTER REMINDER OF YOUR SINS THAT YOU'LL RELIVE OVER AND OVER IN YOUR CONSCIOUS SPIRIT FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE AN ETERNITY.

King James Version
11 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THE PEOPLE OF EDOM ARE LOOK AT YOUR SUN BURNT SKIN? OR BETTER YET, LOOK AT THE HISTORY OF THIS COUNTRY, AND THE GLOBAL PLANET. IF YOU CAN'T DISCERN. AND LEARN FROM YOUR PAST, YOU WILL NOT ENJOY THE FUTURE, AND YOU WON'T, BELEEDAT.

Do you think that if the ghosts sees period dramas set in their time, it will reignite memories of their life?
i think it definitely depends on the accuracy and style of the drama- if they're too poorly researched, any attempts at reverie would be totally disrupted by the historical and visual inaccuracies (think: thomas yelling about the 'roccoco legs' during the byron shoot). of course the other big thing is setting: it's all well and good to watch to a movie set in your time period, but if it's based in a country you've never been to (especially for the older/less privileged ghosts like mary and robin, who probably didn't have much knowledge of the world outside of their continent when they were alive), it's not going to feel particularly familiar.
working on the assumption that we have at least partial historical and geographical accuracy, here's how i think each of the ghosts would respond to
robin: considering how little we actually know about early human history, i don't think robin would be that fussed by any attempt to put that on film- he'd still appreciate a good caveman joke, although he's not a big fan of how stupid every movie assumes they would have been (it's not like they had omega-3 tablets back then!). robin's unspeakably old, and for the most part he seems to have processed through all the parts of his past that he possibly can, and is now committed to enjoying his time at button house as much as he can (a big part of this is his prankster spirit and frankly underrated friendliness), so it would have to take a lot more than a stone age movie to rake up serious conflict.
mary: given her incredibly traumatic death, mary avoids virtually anything that hints of fire or witchcraft which is where things become difficult. i think mary could really enjoy a film set in her time if it follows a working family not dissimilar to her own- it could help her remember some of the positive things from her life, and probably help her feel a lot more seen as she often ends up misunderstood or ignored by the other ghosts (pat initially dismissing mary's advice about the camera work because he didn't think she properly understood what was happening; the ghosts focusing on correcting her speech more than what she actually says). the problem is, almost all movies set in mary's time that follow people from her class end up focusing on the witch trials, which is a BIG no no for her.
humphrey: i think humphrey could really enjoy watching some tudor set films. like mary, he often gets ignored (and straight up left behind), so watching a period film absolutely gives him the opportunity to feel a bit more seen and stew on those long forgotten memories like post-meal games of cards with friends, or the occasional hunting trip when the king came to visit (the trips themselves were more stressful than anything, but mouthing off about them with the king's entourage after he went to bed was always a highlight). humphrey would definitely have a keen eye for inaccuracies, but i don't think they'd bother him. it's just nice to have things be about him for a change (if by him, we mean having all the ghosts watching something that is vaguely related to his alive-period and actually looking to him with questions instead of just using his head as their personal football/security camera/magic 8ball).
kitty: kitty is one of the ghosts who accesses her memories pretty easily- she has no problem with thinking about her life, even when the anecdotes are screamingly sad to anyone listening. so a period film would naturally bring some memories, but i don't know if they'd be anything radical or new- kitty's real growth and drama would come from her leaving behind the rationalisations of what clearly was severe neglect. actually on that note, while not quite kitty's environment, i think she might get a lot out of Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. something about the themes of the loneliness that comes with growing up in high society and only being valued for what your status and your biology can give to your family and your husband (who you likely didn't choose), along with feeling like an outsider and being visibly othered, even by those you outrank, no matter how friendly and approachable and like them you make yourself (while not necessarily linked to the broader themes of familial neglect kitty's character touches on, i think her experiences as a georgian noblewoman of colour would have to have impacted her growing up and also socially- i'd love to hear any thoughts on this from fans of colour, as i'm white and so any theories i could come up with would likely be a poor approximation). and she'd definitely like the pretty dresses and stunning rooms of versailles, and for that i can't blame her.
thomas: most of thomas we sort of got to see in Free Pass- the detail nitpicking, the excitement until a specific trigger from his life (in this case, lord byron, the man thomas considers his greatest enemy, although i’d be curious to know whether byron acually had any idea of thomas thorne’s existence) causes him to go into a full thomas hissy-fit. sure, the emotion is real to him, but he absolutely plays it up, even trying to get humphrey’s body to fetch alison so she can see how ‘upset’ he is (thomas reminds me of a child in this respect).  there’d probably be less of the tantruming for a movie that had already been made, although i’m not so sure about the memory point. The Thomas Thorne Affair sort of brought out thomas’s big Unresolved Life Mystery, and now i think all that’s left for him to work through has got to be a lot more internal. sure, he’d be reminded of a few good old parties, and maybe any romance scenes might trigger some of the sad isabelle/general lost love emotions, but i don’t think they’d be anything particularly spectacular.
fanny: now fanny would be a real stickler for accuracy. she would be calling out every makeup, decorative, hair, wardrobe, architectural, and lingual failure with the classic lady button judgement in her voice. this is probably half because she can't help herself, but half a measure to distract herself from actually having to pay proper attention and relive her life. i think fanny struggles a lot with no longer running her own household (along with the shifting morals, and fashions, of the modern world), and so to be reminded of everything she can no longer have would be tough. i'm not saying she would long for a time when women didn't have a lot of rights, but she went from a wealthy society woman who held a lot of power in her own sphere to a ghost, unable to touch anything or even be seen by the living (save for the photo glitch), and stuck spending her days with a motley crew of equally frustrating ghosts whom she doesn't always feel respected by (noting that 'respect' to fanny is much the same as deference). she could have it a lot worse, but i think fanny would much prefer to not have to think about her old life.
the captain: the captain is an interesting one. he's one of the few ghosts who actively seeks out media related to his time, although that's within the impersonal war documentary which focuses on facts and mechanics as opposed to day to day realities and feelings. on the one hand, any war film for the captain would be sure to rake up memories of wartime (even if he never made the front- that remains unconfirmed), and the immense grief that comes with watching the people around you slowly stop returning home. the captain is a war fanatic, and has no problem talking about the great battles, victories, and tactics, so i think the heightened emotional states that a film presents would be the key to unlocking the captain's inevitable wartime trauma and going beyond the surface level facts. for that reason, i'd really like the captain to see Peter Weir's Gallipoli. i know it's the wrong war and the wrong country (although the australian's were technically part of the British forces), but i think the overarching themes of the idolisation of the military, the deconstruction of the glory of war, and the intense (bordering on the homoerotic) although never quite realised relationship between Archy and Frank (which, spoiler alert, ends in tragedy), could give the captain a lot in terms of food for thought and unlocking some of those deeper experiences. on the other hand, the captain watching a period film set in the years before his war could be equally interesting- i think they'd play on some his is insecurities and general issues surrounding the difficulty he may have had fitting in with day-to-day life (not just due to his homosexuel répression, but due to his broader issues with fitting in socially which we see through his interactions with both the ghosts and his own forces- some particularly valid fans have used these to headcanon cap as autistic). in short, films would unlock a fair few memories for cap, but even more EMOTIONS.
pat: with pat and julian it gets interesting because while yes, technically any movie set in a non-current time period is a ‘period piece’, you also have to deal with the fact that they’re going to have less impact on their respective ghosts because you also have actual movies from those periods floating around. for this reason, my answers for pat and julian are relatively similar: they wouldnt have any more memories appear than for any film coming from while they were alive. for pat, this means he’d get pretty excited about ones that came from his childhood (pat would be a giant sci fi fan don’t @ me he loves technology), but i think anything that came with too strong a family attachmet, or that he watched in the weeks/months/year leading up to his death might bring out the angry pat we saw in Happy Death Day and Perfect Day. anger is how his inherent death trauma (and the additional loss that comes from the world moving on without you) manifests, so i definitely think that would come out here, even if he isn’t quite able to put his finger on why specific movies make him so angry/irritated. for pat, childhood memories would abound, but the closer we get to his death, there’s less memories but definitely more unresolved emotion.
julian: see my point above about the whole period-film-vs-regular-film thing. julian doesn’t really strike me as a movie person, and i definitely think he wouldn’t give much care to the influx of 80s/90s set british political media (think The Iron Lady etc). in his words, “i don’t really care for politics, and they’re all too busy trying to push their labor propaganda”. he just makes a captain-inspired noise when alison reminds him that he WAS a politician. julian is another character who accesses his memories pretty easily (although they’re usually either horny or at least slightly morally bankrupt), and i honestly find it hard to give a tory emotions so i’m very excited to see how the christmas special manages. julian is a self-centred bloke though, so i think only things that are directly about him could have the power to rake up buried memories and feelings. now i really want to see julian watching a documentary on himself and just getting outraged.
thanks for this one, sorry for the delay!!

"This just gives me the creeps," I say setting down a ceramic figurine. It looked like it was a combination of a clown, a fairy, and an angel. It was super creepy. I go back to walking the house the boys and I were scoping out. "You guys got anything?" I ask getting back into the living room.
"Nothing but some creepy ass ceramic figurines," Deans yells from another part of the house. "Are we even sure this is a spirit?"
Sams voice came from the garage. "It's a spirit alright." I turned to see Sam holding something that had disgusting black ooze on it. "Ectoplasm."
I make a face. "Awe shit," I say. "I hate really pissed off spirits." I holster my gun and sit down on the wooden rocking chair. "What spirit would be so pissed off to attack a nice little old lady?" I ask.
"Any spirit," Dean says coming into the living room. "Most likely they knew each other at one point if the spirit is that pissed off." Dean holsters his gun and looks at me with a small smile. I can feel every hair on my neck stand up. Dean knew what he was doing to me and he loved to do it.
I realize that I was holding my breath and quickly stood up to only loose my balance and fall right in the direction of Dean Winchester. Dean caught me with that same smiled. "Thanks," I say pushing away from him. I turned to towards the door and saw Sams face. He knew I liked his brother and he knew that Dean liked to tease me. "Shut up." I say making my way to the door. "Lets just go back to the motel and get some research done. The faster we get this done the quicker we can go back home."
The boys agreed and followed me out to the impala. The drive back to the motel wasn't that long but Dean wanted to stop for food. Very typical of him. Dean could eat a whole cow and later want to another whole cow. When we arrived back at the motel, we all set to work on research on deaths in the city, county, and in that neighborhood. We also looked into the history of the house. Nothing. That was until I came across something that was fishy.
"Guys," I pick up my laptop and shoved in front of the boys. "Did you guys know that she was widowed about forty years ago. Her husband was killed when someone broke into their home. The case went cold. It says here that she didn't seem to shaken up about his death as she had claimed multiple times that he was abusing her. But no proof that he was. Even family and an exgirlfriend said that he would never do such a thing. Four months later she remarried his best friend. He died a few months ago of a heart attack which she was broken up over."
Dean and Sam look it over. "Does seem fishy," Sam says. "Maybe the dead husband is stuck to the woman and his punishing her." Dean shook his head as he silenced his phone for the millionth time.
"Or maybe the wife had an affair with the best friend and because during that time period divorce or leaving a spouse was frowned upon, she took it out on him and had the best friend kill him." Deans phone rang again and he silenced it again. Sam was thinking about the other possibility that the wife and best friend killed the possible ghost.
"Who the heck is calling you over and over again?" I ask.
"I don't know. The number looks familiar but it can wait until the case is over." Dean says getting up and getting a drink. "We go the house tonight and wait for the ghost to show up and talk with him. See where he's buried and salt and burn him." Deans phone rang again. I grabbed the phone before Dean could silence it again.
"Hello?" I answer the phone. "Dean Winchesters phone. Who am I speaking to?" Before I could get a name Dean took the phone from me.
"I'm sorry about that," Dean says. I could help but hear a female voice on the other end. Deans face turned white and he fell back into his seat. "Lisa?"
"Who's Lisa?" I ask turning to Sam whose face had surprise written all over it.
"An old flame," Sam says making eye contact with me. "We had Cas erase hers and her sons memories of Dean after a a demon kidnapped them and it went south. Lisa almost died."
I looked back at dean who had made his way out of the motel room. I followed him. "Lisa, calm down," Dean says. "I did what I did to protect you and Ben. It killed me to do that." Dean was quite for a bit then he spoke. "Okay, where do you want to meet? I can be there tomorrow. Then you can tell me how you remember." Dean turns around and sees me standing there. His face looked so pained. Like he was reliving the past. "Okay, wow thats close. I'll be there." he says and hangs up the phone.
"Are you okay?" I ask as Dean walks passed me.
"I'll be fine. I just need to meet Lisa. She why she remembers everything." Dean walks into the motel and I follow him in. We see Sam packing a bag.
"I found her dead husband, The one that was murdered." Sam puts a few rounds of rock salt into the bag.
"Okay well, I'm going to meet Lisa in Saint Louis. Its a few hours from here." Dean began to throw together a bag. "If anything happens call me and I will be there."
I grabbed a bag too and began to fill it. "I'm going with you. Just to make sure you dont do anything stupid." Both the boys stopped and looked at me. "You wont be able to talk me out of it."
Dean closed his eyes and sighed. He knew that I was right and the look on his face looked like relief? Maybe? Who knew. I needed to know if this Lisa person was actually human or something that needs to die. I looked to Sam who saw my face and nodded. He understood why I was going.
"You guys go," Sam says slinging the bag over his shoulder. "I'll get a rental. If I need you guys, I'll call you." As sam walks passed you he leans in to whisper, "Make sure you bring him back. Do whatever you need to."
*******************************************
The drive to Saint Louis was super quiet. Dean of course has his music on but it was tense in the car. Dean still looked pained over all of it. I asked him he wanted to talk about it but he said no. So we just sat and drove. For four hours. Only stopping for food and the bathroom. I texted Sam a couple of times to tell him that Dean wasn't talking and asked about his time with Lisa. Sam just told me that Dean had spent over a year with them and that erasing their memories tore him apart. He never really spoke about it. I look at Dean and begin to feel super sorry for him.
"I know youre talking about me to Sam," Dean says pulling into a restaurant. A fancy one. This Lisa person was really trying to get him back, I thought. Even Deans face knew he would be out of place here.
"It's not too late to run," I lean over to Dean.
With that, Dean and I got out and walked into the restaurant. Even the severs dressed super nice. "Not to late," I whisper. Dean fakes laughs but I could tell that he was nervous and wasn't entirely sure about all of this.
"Dean?" a voice from behind makes the both of us turn around.
There stood a beautiful woman. Long brown hair and dark eyes. How did Dean ever land a woman like that? I ask myself. I could not compare to that beauty that was radiating off her. I look at Dean who was just staring at her. Lisa notices me and instantly I see something change in her eyes. Was it jealously?
"Lisa," Dean eventually chokes out. "You look amazing."
Lisa smiles a smile so big that I see one reason why Dean loved her. "Thank you, who's your friend?" She asks gesturing to me. I notice her manicured nails and look at my bitten and brittle nails. Still can't compete with her.
Dean is shocked back into reality. He turns to me and touches my shoulder. I look at him and see that he is looking me up and down with a smile on his face. I instantly blush and look at Lisa who clearly seeing the whole thing. Her eyes hardened. "This is YN," Dean says noticing Lisa's face. He slowly drop his hands.
"It's nice to meet you," Lisa says. "Will you be joining us?" She then asks. The tone is hardened too. I could tell that Dean heard it too.
"Well, sort of," I say smiling. "I'll be at the bar." I begin to slip away when Deans hand grabs my arm.
"Nope, you are sitting with us," Dean begins to pull me towards the waitress who had been waiting to sit us. In a low voice Dean whispered in my ear, "I need you by me for support."
Once we were seated and menus handed out. Dean, who is sitting next you, looks over the menu and then leans forward. "So," he  says licking his lips. I notice Dean has a hard time looking at her in the eyes. "How's you get your memories back?" Whoa! To the point. Maybe Dean wouldn't go back to Lisa and her kid.
"Can't we order and eat and catch up first?" Lisa asks laughing nervously. "I mean, we have so much to talk about."
I look at Dean who is staring at the table. "Lis," he says. "There really isn't nothing to catch up on. I had yours and Bens memories of me and the life I live taken away from you. To protect you after you almost got killed. To protect Ben from ever having to go into this life. Just tell me how you got your memories back."
Lisa sits back and waves the waiter on the moment he arrives at the table. I make a small face because one, I need a strong drink for this and two, I was hungry and wanted a fat and juicy steak. "I guess you haven't changed much," she says. I rose an eyebrow and stare at Lisa.
"Whoa there," I say putting my hand on the table. "You don't know Dean at all. At least not anymore, so don't make comments like that because that makes you look like a bitch." Lisas eyes widened and I notice from the corner of my eyes Dean is looking at me. He doesn't cut in because he knows that once I start speaking like this, I won't stop until the thought is done. "I have been with the boys for two years. Deans past kills him. He has nightmare after nightmare some nights. He may be a dick at times but he has changed. So excuse him for wanting to know how you got your pathetic memories back. Now if excuse me, I need to splash my face with water or this water will end up in yours." I get up and let Dean know what to order me when the waiter got back.
Once I was in the bathroom I pull out my phone and call Sam. As the phone rings I sit on floor of the bathroom stall. I have no idea where all that came from. What Lisa said to Dean, set off a spark in me. I didn't appreciate how she spoke to him.
"Hey," Sam answered. "Hows it going with Lisa?" He asks.
"Lisa is a bitch," I say. "But thats not what I called you about. Hows the hunt? Did you finish it?" I needed a distraction for a bit or I was going to go out and say more things that I might regret.
"Yeah," Sam says. "I was able to talk to the murdered husband and he said that it was the best friend who killed him. While I was talking to him, I got a phone call saying that the wife died of a heart attack. The spirit was then salted and burned."
"Thats great," I say picking at a loose strand from my shirt. "I'm glad it went well and that the spirit was willing to listen."
"Now tell me why Lisa is a bitch," Sam wasn't going to let me off that easy.
"Let's just say, she looks at me like I'm a threat and tells Dean that he never changed." I rip the strand off and let it fall to the floor.
"Ah," Sam says.
"Yeah, anyway, I need to go before Deans thinks I ditched him." I hang up the phone and splash my face with water. I walk back to the table to see Dean getting up.
"We should get going," Dean says pulling out his wallet.
"Dean," Lisa stands up and blocks me from walking by. "It's never too late. We can still have what we had. I can live that life. Ben can have a father figure in his life."
Dean looks up and makes eye contact with me. I can tell that he already made his decision. "Lis," he says. "You can't. It almost killed you last time. Now stay here, buy whatever food you want and enjoy a nice dinner on me." Dean threw two 50s on the table. "Let's go," he says to me.
I squeeze passed Lisa and get a good look at her face. She is watching Dean as he walks away. She catches me watching and she looks away. I see a small tear fall down her face. What the hell happened while I was gone?
Back on the road, I waited an hour to talk to Dean. "What happened back there?" I ask. "Did you get the answers you wanted?"
Deans hands tightens on the wheel and pulls off to the side of road and put the impala in park. "Yeah." he stares ahead of him. "She started having these dreams about me. Went to an actual psychic who pulled her memories back. But not Bens. She said she wouldn't do that unless I got back with her." Dean looks at me and I watch as he grabs my hand in his. "I told her it was impossible. I told her I didn't feel that way about her anymore and had feelings for some else."
I felt my heart skip a beat. I knew he was talking about me. I used my free hand to grab his shirt collar and pull him to my lips.

ZKDD Day 30: Forever Family
Title: If One of Your Soulmates Told You to Go Jump in the River, Would You?
Rating: T (cussing, mentioned past character death, brief mention of infanticide)
Summary: Zuko always believed his destiny was tied to the Avatar, he just never thought it would be in this way. (Fruits Basket!AU)
Note: A/N can be found on AO3 (including a chart to figure out your atla zodiac lol) Also! I would appreciate feedback because I’m thinking of expanding on this idea more for the Zutara Big Bang :)
@zkdrabbledecember
A long time ago, the Avatar lived together in harmony with their twelve friends: the shirshu, the flying bison, the tiger seal, the jackalope, the dragon, the koi fish, the ostrich horse, the koala sheep, the winged lemur, the turtleduck, the polar bear dog, and the badgermole.
Unfortunately, those idyllic days did not last forever. Strife was brewing between the Spirit and Human Worlds, and only the Avatar was capable of restoring balance. There was no choice, but to leave the Spirit World and to live among the humans. The Avatar was heartbroken to be separated from their closest friends, but they knew they must do so, or great calamity would befall the world.
The Twelve understood why the Avatar must go, however, they could not bear to be parted from the one that had brought them all together.
“We will follow you. We will join you in bringing balance to the Spirit and Human Worlds,” the Twelve told the Avatar.
“Let us be together forever,” the Avatar responded with joy. “May we always find each other in every life.
From that day onward, the Avatar has always been accompanied by members of the Twelve. For there is nothing on this planet that is more powerful than the bond between the Twelve and the Avatar. They are destined to be together. Forever.
___
Everyone had always thought he was a fool for choosing to pursue the Avatar.
Zuko had been given two avenues to regain his honor, and he had opted to search for the mythical figure that had been missing for over a century. His crew detested his decision, and Uncle… Uncle was apathetic towards his efforts at best; most likely disappointed he could not relive his glory days through his nephew.
He knew others thought that he had given up, that he had never planned on returning to his place in the Fire Nation, that he was too weak and too much of a coward to hunt members of the Twelve. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
He would gladly struggle and fight for as long as possible because he knew his destiny. His destiny was to capture the Avatar, and the airbender’s reemergence had proven him correct. It was only a matter of time now.
The first few attempts had gone astray, but Zuko had a good feeling about collaborating with the pirates to capture the waterbender to use as bait. It didn’t matter that Uncle did not agree with his methods, and that Zuko had to set off by himself with only a small squadron. He would prove Uncle and everyone else wrong; he had to.
___
When you were one of the Twelve, touch was the most intimate of things. Any form of embrace would trigger the transformation, so most Zodiac members learnt to dance around it; learnt how to get out of the societal norms that would so often lead to falling into other’s arms.
But Katara thrived on it. She patted heads, held hands, bumped shoulders, and kissed foreheads. She loved to touch others; to get as close as possible. She knew it was dangerous, but she loved it. She wanted others to know that she cared for them.
Before Aang, she had only ever been hugged by her family. Some of her favorite memories were of when her mom would let her transform and spend the whole day cuddling together in the furs. (Only under duress would she admit that Sokka carrying her around like a polar dog pup were also some of her favorites).
For her whole life, an embrace had only ever been a signifier of the utmost trust and affection. Hugs and cuddles were sacred, not a thing to be feared.
However, that was before Aang and before leaving the Southern Water Tribe and before seeing the wanted posters of rumored members of the Twelve.
That was before Zuko had snuck up on her, said that spirits awful line, and sent her careening back into the arms of one of the pirates. That was before time stopped for a moment and her stomach dropped and she thought to herself: fuck .
___
Katara expected to see a few things when she opened her eyes:
The puff of smoke from her transformation? Check.
Her pile of clothes on the ground? Check.
Pirates and Fire Nation soldiers charging at her? Check.
What Katara was never expecting to see —not even after a thousand years — was a poof of smoke similar to her own clearing up, and a turtleduck emerging from a pile of red and gold armor.
Before her mind could even form the question of what in the Four Nations just happened, one of the soldiers shouted, “Prince Zuko is a traitor! Seize him and the tiger seal!”
“Oh no you don’t,” the Pirate Captain sneered, “We’ll be the ones gettin’ the reward for the turtleduck and tiger seal.”
And then all hell broke loose.
With all of her might, Katara bounced her way between the fighting pirates and soldiers, biting and tail whipping as she went. She needed to get to the river; outswimming them was the only plausible method of escape.
She was almost there, the water practically touching her flippers, when she heard a familiar raspy voice command, “Get back! I’m your Prince!” followed by hisses of pain.
Zuko.
Her enemy. The boy who relentlessly chased them around the world, trying to kidnap Aang and destroy any chance at peace. And the boy, who apparently was one of her soulmates. One of the people she had shared countless lifetimes with maintaining balance. The boy who was near the water, but was too busy breathing fire at the advancing troops to notice his surroundings.
She didn’t know why he spent so long pursuing them when he could have joined them, but she did know that he needed some help. And Katara never turned her back on people who needed her.
So she screamed, “Zuko! Go jump in the river!”
___
Zuko did not know what was happening.
He did not know why one of his men stumbling into him caused a tiny explosion. He did not know why he’s suddenly the size of a cat. He did not know why he appeared to have a beak and a shell now. He did not know why his men were calling him a traitor.
Zuko only knew one thing: the spirits hated him.
So he ran because the men chased him. He screamed because they further besmirched his honor with lies. He breathed fire because they attacked him.
He was disconnected from reality; the only thing that felt real was the pounding in his ears and the churning of his stomach.
“Zuko! Go jump in the river!”
It was the waterbender. The tiger seal. She called to him from the river bank, slapping her fins against the water for emphasis. “Jump in the river!”
So he jumped.
___
There was a saying in the Fire Nation navy: A decent sailor knows the changes of the tides; a great sailor knows the cycles of the Twelve .
As important as the knowledge contained in the official seafaring manual was, it did not bring glory to their homeland. Any average Lee could spew off the fuel consumption rate of a Fire Nation cruiser; only the greatest of men could present the Fire Lord with a member of the Twelve in chains. And even then, only the best of them would be permitted to carry out the execution themselves.
Captain Zhao had been granted this honor thirteen times. In fact, he was the most successful hunter of the Twelve in the history of the Fire Nation. Not even the Dragon of the West, with a measly count of three kills, could compare to him. There was a reason the old man was wasting away on a dilapidated rust bucket, and Zhao was being heralded as the Zodiac Killer.
Yes, Zhao was quite proud of his accomplishments, but he wanted more. He had brought thirteen members of the Twelve to their knees before the people of Caldera City, but four of those had been repeats. And where was the glory in that?
No one had ever managed a complete set, but Zhao would most definitely be the first. The jackalope, koi fish, and turtleduck were the only ones left.
The jackalope was still at large in the Earth Kingdom, but was most likely under the protection of Omashu’s Mad King. After dealing with the Northern Water Tribe, Omashu would be the next stronghold to fall to the Fire Nation.
The koi fish had always been the trickiest of the Twelve to catch. This was not due to the koi fish being particularly intelligent or skillful, but simply because it was a creature cursed with terrible luck. Most parents were terrified when their newborn transformed into a fish, and by the time they realized what was happening; their fish child had already suffocated. As a result, it was impossible to know for sure how many incarnations of the koi fish had been reborn since the start of the Hundred Year War.
The koi fish of the Zodiac would be an excellent addition to his collection, but Zhao had it on good authority that there’s an even better prize in the Northern Water Tribe. Besides, it’s been at least two decades since the North had presented the Fire Nation with one of the Twelve, perhaps Zhao would come across a pleasant surprise during his expedition.
And then there was the turtleduck. After confirmation that the previous turtleduck had been an Earth Kingdom warrior, Zhao had been scouring the Poles for rumors. He had assumed the next would be of Water descent, but oh how shortsighted he had been.
How could he have forgotten how often Earth liked to mix themselves with others? The warrior had not been an Earth incarnation, but one of Air.
The current cycle was Fire. And after reading the memo on his desk about reports of pirates seeing a scarred boy transform into a turtleduck, he knew exactly who to look for.
Zhao had always enjoyed the hunt, but this was shaping up to be his favorite. It’s not everyday you get to kill a prince, after all.

Be More Chill “Sky” AU - Part 1?
Dreams
Ships Involved: None (yet?)
Setting: A Sky: Children of the Light crossover/AU where Jeremy and Michael are Skykids who travel around the different Realms together.
Trigger/Content Warnings: Nightmares
Author’s Notes: I haven’t sat down and written in like...months, so this may be a little rusty. But I recently finished my first playthrough of Sky (which I highly recommend checking out), and I apologize that some of the terminology/references in this may be confusing for people who don’t know the game. This is kind of a test-run for this AU. The basic premise of the game and explanation of some of the terms mentioned (hopefully with little to no spoilers for the game) is that you are a “Skykid”, a child essentially made of light, and you explore different areas to learn the history of a fallen civilization by finding Spirits and reliving their memories and then meeting Elders who oversee each Realm of the game. You get around by using a special cape that lets you glide and fly. There’s a big emphasis on working with other players to get through things, and every friend you make is represented by a star in your main hub, called Home. Krill are dragon-esque enemies who steal your light, which is your life-force, and the Eye of Eden is the final level of the game. Each time you complete the game you start over as a reincarnation of your Skykid. I don’t know all the lore myself since the game has no dialogue and leaves a lot to interpretation and imagination, and I haven’t done too too much research yet, and honestly I may not do too much so that I can learn more in my future playthroughs, lol. Hopefully that helps those of you who don’t know as much. Sorry for the lengthy explanation, I’m curious to know what people think of this potential AU!
“I had a weird dream last night.”
Jeremy wasn’t sure what made him say it. He had been with Michael all day, running around and exploring as they always did, with Michael leading him around by the hand and making conversation with every wayward Skykid they crossed paths with. Jeremy had never been the best at making friends and was lucky to have met Michael at all, who was intent on not letting him go anywhere on his own.
He had been thinking about the dream since the night before, but he supposed he’d been too distracted by their adventures to mention it. Now, as they lounged in the grass in the Home Realm, just relaxing by the campfire and gazing at the stars as Michael lazily strummed his guitar, his thoughts had drifted back to it.
Michael paused in his playing, glancing over at Jeremy. “A weird dream?” he echoed. “I mean…dreams aren’t really supposed to make sense, are they?”
“That’s not what I mean.” Jeremy shifted so that he could pull his knees to his chest, resting his chin on top of them and looking down at the fire. “I remember it so clearly. It felt so real. It’s been bothering me.”
“Hm. Alright.” Michael tossed his guitar into the air, watching it spin as it fell back down to its spot on his back. He leaned back on his hands and turned his full attention to Jeremy. “Well, let’s hear it, then.”
Jeremy blinked at him, his brow furrowing. “I don’t wanna be a bother.”
“Oh c’mon, Jer-bear, you’ve barely talked all day. And you know it isn’t bothering me, I asked to hear it. Got nothin’ better to do until tomorrow, do we?”
“I…guess.” Jeremy knew he could trust Michael with anything, and he knew that dreams were only dreams, but something about this felt almost…private. Like he wasn’t meant to divulge what he’d seen to anyone else. It was all just so strange and normally Jeremy couldn’t even recall his dreams when he woke up in the morning. Maybe he’d have an inkling of an idea of what it had been about, but he had never been like Michael, who could prattle on about his dreams for hours, although for all Jeremy knew he was just making it up as he went.
Jeremy fidgeted with the edge of his cape, still hesitant, but he finally decided there was no real harm in sharing: “Okay, so, uh…I was in the Wastes. I was by myself, heading towards the Temple. It was dark and windy which, er, you know, is normal for the Golden Wasteland. But as I was going…I got spotted by a Krill.”
Michael’s eyes widened immediately. “Oh shit.”
It wasn’t like Jeremy and Michael had never encountered Krill before – or Dragons as Michael preferred to call them, since apparently ‘Krill’ wasn’t menacing enough – but they’d always managed to stay safe by sticking together. While Michael was good at talking to people and getting their help, Jeremy was good at finding places to stay hidden. They had yet to venture into the Eye of Eden, but Michael always liked to say that he was positive they must have been there before in past lives and just didn’t remember it.
Jeremy wasn’t so sure. They’d met other Skykids who spun tales about their previous incarnations going into Eden, about how it was the ultimate test and that they weren’t allowed to speak of what they’d seen in there but it wasn’t something you could forget. And that the end result of Ascension made the struggle so, so worth it. Jeremy had his doubts that he and Michael would just conveniently not remember something so significant.
“What happened next?” Michael prompted, pulling Jeremy from his thoughts.
“Right, um…Well, it spotted me. You know, the whole blue-light-turns-red deal. And I couldn’t move once it did, like I was frozen in place. I was bracing myself, ready for it to just…eat me whole, but then it…didn’t.” Jeremy tugged the ends of his cape close, wrapping himself up like it was a blanket. He could almost feel ice running down his spine at the memory. “It…i-it came up close to me. And it…it spoke to me.”
Michael’s brow furrowed, his expression a mix of confused and warily curious. “…Can they even speak?”
Jeremy managed a shrug. “Anything can happen in a dream, I guess. But it…it said…‘Give me all of your Light, Sky Child, and I will make you the brightest star in Eden.’”
Silence hung between them for a long moment, the quote lingering in the air. Jeremy had only seen Michael speechless a few times in his life, and they were usually because Jeremy had said something too stupid to fathom. Now, Jeremy could tell that even if it had been a dream, Michael was quiet because he felt the same chill in his bones at the words that Jeremy did.
“…Then what?” Michael finally murmured, much less enthusiastic than before.
Jeremy paused, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly, watching as a few sparks of light snuck out of his mouth. “I don’t really know. I heard it roar, felt really cold, and then I woke up.”
There was silence again, before Michael mumbled a disturbed, “Spooky.”
Jeremy nodded in agreement, although he had to admit even with the memory of the dream still haunting him, it felt kind of nice to get it out in the open. He had had nightmares before, of course, but they had never been so vivid, and he wasn’t sure he’d ever dreamed about the Krill until now. Generally they were normal bad dreams, like getting separated from Michael in a storm or slipping up in saving a lost Spirit or having one of the Elders disapprove of him. Nothing ever quite this degree of frightening.
He tipped his head back to look up at the stars, some shining brighter than others thanks to the friends that they – mainly Michael, to be honest – had made along the way in their various travels. There were a lot of mysteries in this world that couldn’t be solved alone, even if Jeremy had tried all he could at first to get through by himself, too nervous to try and reach out to anyone else. Michael had stumbled upon him by chance and had all but dragged him to a door that needed two people to work together to open it, and they had been inseparable ever since.
He blinked as Michael suddenly stepped into his field of vision, offering a smile and holding out a hand. Even if his grin was as bright as the campfire, Jeremy could see in Michael’s eyes that he was still shaken by the talk of the dream.
“C’mon,” Michael coaxed, wiggling his fingers. “Let’s go for a fly. Clear our minds before we go to bed.”
Jeremy took in another breath and gave a stiff nod, grabbing Michael’s hand and pulling himself up. He always felt safer, stronger, when his hand was clasped tightly with Michael’s. They were a team, through and through, and Jeremy wasn’t sure where he’d be without him.
“Yeah,” he murmured, giving Michael’s hand a fond squeeze. “That sounds good.”
Michael turned with a flourish of his cape and led Jeremy towards the portal to the Daylight Prairie. But as they went, Jeremy couldn’t help a peek at the gateway to the Golden Wasteland, that deep, purring voice rolling through his mind again.
“I will make you the brightest star in Eden.”

Part 1
“What did you forget?” He chuckled at you.
Could it be this was a past life? Were you sent to relive it as punishment? Changkyun’s face fell.
“You did, didn’t you?” He asked softly, as if you were a spooked horse. You placed a hand on your chest as if it would help you breathe better, but it didn’t, you couldn’t breath. The world was spinning. People called out from behind you, you heard your name but the noise got duller as you fell forward. “Woah, Hey!” Changkyun lunged forward, catching you in his arms just before you hit the floor. Your last thought before you blacked out was, what that it was a shame an asshole like this would have such an incredible face. The gods really were being cruel to you weren't they?
You shivered, flashes of dejavu playing through your mind as you woke up in the same room as before. This time there were two men and a few women in the room as opposed to just the one before. Most of them jumped when they saw you were awake.
“Y/N!” One of the men exclaimed. “Are you okay?” He asked. You hid further under the blanket, hoping this nightmare would just end.
“Lady Y/N,” One of the women said softly, walking forward. “It’s alright, we’re not going to hurt you.” She had a kind smile and motherly aura, which made you feel slightly more at ease, but only slightly. “Do you know where you are?” She asked. You shake your head, not sure if it was a matter of where or when. “You’re in the palace.” She said.
“What palace?” You asked. The people in the room looked around, worried.
“The king's palace.” One of the men came forward.
“What king?” You whispered, racking your brain through thousands of years of history crammed into a few classes in highschool, that you barely paid any attention to  because you didn’t think you would need.
“King Si Dae.” The woman answered. You couldn’t remember anyone by the name.
“Do you know what year it is? By chance?” You asked, not even sure if they followed years during this time.
“You don’t know what year it is? Oh dear.” The woman looked around frantically.
“What do you remember?” The other man stepped forward and you recognized him as the same man from before.
“Changkyun please.” The first man hissed. “She’s scared, don’t patronize her.”
Changkyun shrugged, “she doesn’t seem to remember much so wouldn’t it be easier to build off of what she does remember?” He smirked, taking a few steps towards you, behind him you could see the look of disapproval on the other man’s face. “So, Lady Y/N, what do you remember?” He bent over so you were face to face, noses practically touching. The women whispered amongst themselves when you didn’t back down. You knew your hometown but they probably wouldn’t as it wouldn’t exist yet. Your name was definitely yours but what about your family name? Would that stay the same too?
“Nothing.” You whispered, not wanting to cause too much trouble. Changkyun straightened his back before turning around.
“How unfortunate.” He tsked, not sounding at all bothered. He simply shrugged as if there was nothing more that could be done and left the room. The first man came forward, a little awkward.
“Lady Y/N, I’m prince Shownu.”
👑
Prince Shownu tried his best to jog your memory of the palace and your life there, but it was a failed attempt as there was no memory to jog. So you would pretend like you didn’t know anything so he would explain it to you. According to him, his first wife was very sick and asked you to be brought to the palace to take care of her. You were not a maid but instead very close to the crown prince’s first wife, and so she felt that it would be nice to bring you into the palace. Apparently, her dying wish was that Shownu kept you at the palace and looked after you, so he did, making you his personal assistant, or what would have been the old timey equivalent to a personal assistant.
Shownu showed you around the palace, introducing you to people that you were not only already supposed to know but be kind of close too. By the time you got to the kitchens, most of the palace had already heard about your “accident.” Of course they did, what other forms of entertainment did they have?
“Oh, Lady Y/N, sit, I’ll make you some tea that is really good for your head.” Said the head court lady. Shownu chuckled and kindly ask that it be brought to your room.
That was the first thing you noticed about Shownu, other than his cute smile, was his kindness and patience. When you felt like you were asking too many questions, he smiled and encouraged you. He thought about giving you time off to get your strength (and memories) back, but someone told him it would be better to have you dive right in and see if anything comes back to you. He eventually agreed with them but told you to let him know if you weren’t feeling well.
👑
Being Shownu’s personal handmaiden meant you were pretty much by his side 24/7, even if he didn’t need you. So you watched as him and his brothers get ready to practice for the ritual. You didn’t know what it was for, just that it was important and every prince played a special role. They came together at first, Hyungwon and Kihyun shoving each other playfully, so much so that even Changkyun cracked a smile.
From what you could gather, the ritual seemed more like a performance than anything. Either way, it was very entertaining.
“What did you think of the practice?” Shownu asked, walking beside you.
“It was interesting.” You told him honestly. “What is the purpose of it?”
“Honestly,” he chuckled beside you, “I’m not even sure, but the king tells us to do it so, we have to do it.”
“That sounds hard.” You hummed. Shownu chuckled again.
“Everyone has to do it.”
“Yes but getting direct orders from the king, having him watch your every move sounds difficult.” You said.
“It can be, but-”
“But we have no say in the matter, so it’s best to just agree.” A voice said behind you. You both turned around to see the 7th prince in all his glory. He seemed so quiet around others so why was it that he was always so smug around you?
“Changkyun,” Shownu greeted, “what are you doing here?” He asked, aware the younger was following them since they left the practice area.
“I was curious about something.” He said, looking at you. You tilted your head at him wondering if he wanted you to cower under his stare. Prince or not, arrogance was never something you put up with.
“And did you find what you were looking for?” Shownu asked, raising an eyebrow at his brother.
Changkyun shook his head, “if anything, I think I’m even more intrigued than I was before.”
Shownu gave a disapproving look to his brother, who did not see it because as he backed away, he only watched you. Shownu turned as Changkyun did the main difference being, as Shownu approached people bowed to him, as opposed to running the other way when they saw Changkyun. You had to jog to catch up with Shownu.
“My prince, why is it that people avoid Prince Changkyun?” You asked. Shownu sighed.
“They’re scared of him.” He said plainly.
“But why?” You asked.
“He’s a prince, the lives of many people depend on simply the wave of his hand.” Shownu didn’t look at you.
“You’re also a prince, but people don’t run from you.” The two of you entered the library, Shownu closed the door behind him and lowered his voice.
“He’s marked.” He said darkly, you looked at him confused, you didn’t remember seeing any mark on him. “People talk, about how he got his scar. Rumors got out of hand, and now people fear for their life, in his presence.” Shownu’s tone caused a chill to run up your spine, but you kept pressing.
“But if the rumors are all they are, then why are people still scared?” Shownu’s gaze dropped to the floor. “Unless, they’re not rumors?”
“There’s a lot we don’t know about Changkyun.”
👑
You weren’t sure how to get home, or even if you could. Since you weren’t exactly sure how you got there in the first place, it was a little difficult to try and reverse what happened. On top of that, you weren’t sure if you had travelled back in time or to a whole new dimension altogether. Assuming you went back in time about a thousand years, there was no telling what you even being there would do to disrupt the future. Then again, there was a chance you were in a parallel universe considering you had no idea who this king was, although that might have just been your fault for not paying attention in history class.
The night of the ritual felt strange, it wasn’t cold and yet, you had goosebumps on your arms. You watched the princes practice enough to know when something was wrong. It started off peacefully enough but then, more people were added to the mix, seemingly out of nowhere. You didn’t see them practice in their costumes so it was hard to tell who was who, especially with the masks, except for Shownu whose costume was different from the other princes.
“Something’s wrong.” You mumbled more towards yourself than anything. The king’s right hand, Hongsik looked at you as you watched the ritual with worried eyes.
The princes were supposed to be fighting off evil spirits played by other warriors but they were being much more aggressive than they were in practice. The movements were too quick, you looked around to see if anyone else had noticed but they all thought it was part of the ritual and watched in amusement.
One of the masked warriors brought his sword down and pierced it right through Shownu’s shield. The music stopped.
“Protect the king.” Hongsik roared, everyone jumped into action, moving even faster than before. Guards ran forward, standing in front of the king, ready to shield him from any attackers. The other princes ran forward to help their brother but there were too many attackers to get to him. The sound of blades clashing echoed through the courtyard and the princes tried to defend themselves. You weren’t sure what to do, should you run? But there was no one coming towards you. At least you thought.
Shownu jumped over one of the attackers, seemingly flying towards you. He put his arm around you and swung you around, his blade catching that of someone’s behind you. Your jaw dropped, you had no idea there was anyone around you or even that anyone would pay attention to you.
“Run.” He commanded, letting you go. You ran to Hongsik, away from the fight. It seemed like no matter what the princes did, the attackers would not stay down, not unless they were dead. Shownu’s head turned to you to make sure you were okay, so he wasn’t able to see the person coming up behind him. Luckily, one of the other princes did, intervening so the person missed, only cutting Shownu’s arm. You covered your mouth, muffling your gasp as the prince slit his neck with his sword. Shownu was brought to his knees as the attacker fell to the floor.
“Shownu!” you exclaimed, running forward. His hand that was holding the gash on his arm was already covered in blood. You lifted the mask off his face to reveal that it wasn’t even Shownu, but the youngest prince Changkyun.
“What is this?” The king yelled. “Where is the crown prince?”
The other princes had already taken their masks off at this point, except for one.
“Right here your majesty.” Shownu said.
“Are you okay?” The king asked Shownu, his voice softened when he saw the prince was okay.
“Are you okay?” You asked, placing a hand on Changkyuns shoulder lightly. He looked at you with what seemed to be disgust, crouched beside him, a worried look on your face as if you cared what happened to him. You saw him look up at his father who had yet to acknowledge him.
“What is the meaning of this?” The king demanded, looking around but the other princes were just as confused.
“It was my idea, your majesty.” Shownu got on one knee before the king. “I had suspicions about tonight so I asked Changkyun to take my place, I failed in protecting him.” Shownu bowed his head and the king turned to Changkyun who now had his own blood smeared on his face. He was breathing heavily from the battle he just fought, clutching his blood soaked arm.
“Find whoever did this.” The king commanded. “Find who is responsible for an attack on the crown prince!”
“Yes your majesty.” The guards and warriors around him chanted, including the princes.
“Yes your majesty.” Changkyun mumbled through his teeth, trying to get up. The king turned away and retreated back into the castle, when the attention was off them, the other princes came forward to check on their youngest brother.
“Changkyun, are you alright?” Minhyuk was the first to ask.
“I’m sorry.” Shownu bowed, “I said I would have your back, but I didn’t.” Changkyun shrugged.
“What’s one extra scar?” He chuckled dryly.
“You’re bleeding pretty bad.” You said, Changkyun looked at you again. In the past five minutes, you’ve paid more attention to him than in the past two years you’ve been at the palace. He was confused, the mask laid forgotten on the ground where you placed it, you knew he wasn’t Shownu, so why the hell were you still holding his arm? Changkyun didn’t realize how comforting your touch was until he ripped his arm away, and the pain seemed to get much worse.

While an Xbox One version of the collection was initially announced back in March 2019, today’s announcement makes no mention of an Xbox One version. (Update 10:57 p.m.: While the press release and official website make no mention of the Xbox One version, Digital Eclipse studio head Mike Mika said on Twitter that the Xbox One version will be available at the same time as the PlayStation 4 and Switch versions, saying its absence from the announcement is “not as intended.” He added, “Xbox has been always in the plan and everything, weirdly not in the press release. Weird mix up someplace. It is definitely coming out and we finished it alongside the other SKUs.”)

■ Collection
Samurai Shodown released on the NeoGeo in 1993, followed by its sequel Samurai Shodown II in 1994, and the series became a trilogy in 1995 with Samurai Shodown III. Soon after Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge came in 1996, and seven years later Samurai Shodown V was released in 2003, with Samurai Shodown V Special releasing the following year in 2004. Never before released to the public, Samurai Shodown V Perfect is a mysterious final version of Samurai Shodown V that is the stuff of legends to SNK fans. Players can select between either Japanese or English MVS arcade versions for each title. Additionally, there are features such as scanlines for that retro flair, save functions, and arcade mode can even be set to “Free Mode” meaning no more game overs!
Samurai Shodown (1993)
In a world dominated by fighters where opponents duked it out with their fists and kicks, Samurai Shodown sliced into the scene with their brand-new take on the genre. Not only does each attack hit like a truck normally, but damage actually increases further due to the implementation of a POW meter that fills up upon taking damage. This, coupled with its unique setting and boastful roster of 12 peerless warriors made this game a phenomenon that everyone was talking about. Do you have what it takes to take down Shiro Tokisada Amakusa?

Samurai Shodown II (1994)
This game further expanded the thrill of the fight by adding forward and back rolls, a low-attack dodge, and an attack that breaks the opponent’s weapon! These additions to the game brought it into a-whole-nother level of skill and precision unlike any fighter at the time. Haohmaru goes up against his long-standing rival, Kibagami Genjuro, as well as three other additional characters—bringing the roster to a total of 15 warriors.

Samurai Shodown III (1995)
This title took the Samurai Shodown series onto a different path with an overhaul to the button and system settings. Players can now choose between two different fighting styles for each character, named Slash and Bust. Additionally, players can now choose between three grades when choosing a character. These are Beginner Class, Medium Grade, and Upper Grade, which add a lot of depth and complexity to an already complex game. 12 warriors set out to bring Zankuro Minazuki’s reign of terror to an end. Will they succeed?

Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge (1996)
Following after the previous installment comes new additions in the form of a CD 14-multislash combo and Rage Explosion (w/ Fatal Flash and Link Slashes to boot!). Additionally, the single player campaign features a timer and the ending received changes on the time finished. Warriors from past titles join up with new faces to form a hearty 17-character roster. As the name implies, Shiro Tokisada Amakusa is back again but is weak as his spirit was split in two. If he succeeds in his quest of joining both halves, the world will be plunged into darkness forevermore.

Samurai Shodown V (2003)
Seven years would follow until the series saw another sequel on the NeoGeo. Four new characters including Majikina Mina and Tokugawa Yoshitora join the roster bringing it to an explosive 24 characters. The system has been updated with new features such as a Sword Gauge and a state of meditation called Concentration One. The series was back on track with its game balance being focused on devastating blows and quick dodges.

Samurai Shodown V Special (2004)
The final game sold on the NeoGeo. Every character is now equipped with a devastating Overkill attack. This title brought balance changes that truly gave players the thrill and excitement expected out of Samurai Shodown. Now, with the inclusion of previous boss characters, the roster stood at a girthy 28 bloodthirsty warriors.

Samurai Shodown V Perfect (Previously Unreleased)
