“Hey, you okay?” Your tired eyes peered up at Aaron as he neared your seat on the jet, tie loosened and top button of his shirt undone. He had just gotten off the phone with the section chief, who, undoubtedly, scolded him as if he were a wayward adolescent. Although the smile he offered you in response was tight lipped and less-than-giving, his eyes told a different tale. They softened as they met yours, shedding their cold and hard façade to reveal a weary truth, littered with hints of desperation. 

This case had been long and grueling, tensions insurmountably higher than usual with Erin Strauss breathing down Hotch’s neck, scrutinizing every decision he and the rest of the team made. You barely got a chance to talk to Aaron about how he was doing, always being waved off by the older man with “We can talk later,” or “It doesn’t matter right now, let’s focus on the case,”. Begrudgingly, you obliged, understanding there was no point in pushing him. It would only add to his stress. Although the case was solved, the end was arduous. The unsub had taken a hostage and, with the rest of the BAU’s input, the negotiation tactics went a different way than what Erin deemed appropriate. 

A heavy sigh parted Aaron’s lips as he slumped into his seat, you could practically see steam of stress billowing off of him. “It’s fine, everything’s fine.” He spoke quietly, eyes closed, but you could tell he didn’t believe it to be true. 

“Strauss tear you a new one?” Rossi piqued from across the table. 

The unit chief huffed out a short laugh. “Nothing out of the ordinary.” Rossi just nodded at this, turning his attention back to his notepad. Hotch looked to the rest of his team as they settled into their desired spots, “Let’s all get some rest, alright?” 

Everyone wordlessly nodded, not having to be told twice. 

Aaron lazily turned his head to you with a book in your lap, “You, too, Agent.” He gave you a playfully pointed look.

You breathed out a quiet chuckle, “I will, don’t worry.” You shut the book and turned to give your beloved undivided attention, gazing into his suddenly undecipherable, deep hickory eyes. “You wanna talk about it?” 

He gently shook his head, eyelids feeling heavy as his blinks became slower and slower, “At home,” he whispered, your stomach doing a somersault at the notion. Aaron tried to fight sleep for just a few seconds longer, wanting to just stare at you for a bit.

You faced him, head leaned against the headrest, smile so warm and endearing. The way you chuckled at him was like getting a glimpse of heaven. He couldn’t wait to go home and have you all to yourself. The feeling of your arms wrapped around him was his life raft in the tumultuous storm of his emotions. It was hard for him to express what he was feeling all the time, but with you around his walls of reinforced concrete tumbled. Aaron gave you a small, sleepy smile.

Before he could say anything else, you spoke up. “Sleep,” it was a simple command, and the usually stubborn man melted into his seat at your word. 

You took a couple minutes longer to watch him immediately fall into a deep slumber, his breaths becoming deeper and longer, lips parted ever-so-slightly, eyebrows twitching here and there. With a breathy laugh, you fought the urge to reach up and caress his face and move the little stray strands of hair off of his forehead, still aware that your coworkers could witness such an intimate moment. The two of you had begun dating five months ago, but it wasn’t until three months later that you broke the news to the team. 

It had been a long time coming; for quite a while everyone knew about the feelings you harbored for your boss- even Hotch himself knew. You didn’t do a very good job of hiding it, taking every opportunity you could to blithely flirt with him. Some might just assume you did so in a similar way to how Penelope and Derek toy with each other, but the profilers knew in the back of their minds it wasn’t the case. Aaron fought you at first, pleading with you to stop calling him “handsome”, “big man”, or even “honey” in one case. You never gave in, though, buckling down on your efforts upon seeing the way he would chuckle caught off guard and almost blush in many instances. Slowly yet surely, he gave in to your teases. You burrowed your way into the stoic man’s heart, creating a place you would die before giving up. Aaron didn’t even realize it was happening until his world came crashing down on him one fateful evening. 

A routine questioning of a suspect had led to you getting held hostage, the man whose house you went to turning out to be the unsub. This had happened many times before in the history of the BAU, but for some reason Aaron was more on edge. There was no covert entrance into the home and the unsub refused to open up a line of communication with the agents, leaving everyone in the dark wondering what the state of your wellbeing was. Aaron had begun pacing back and forth in the tent they had set up outside the house you were being held in, hands held to his head. 

“Hotch, it’s going to be okay.” Derek stepped forward, trying to calm his superior’s nerves. 

“He’s right, Aaron.” Rossi piped in. “We’ve dealt with this before, we can fix this.”   

“No,” Hotch murmured back, “This isn’t the same. It’s not the same.” His pacing didn’t let up. “This is my fault, I should have told someone to go, too. I could have prevented this.”

The others held unspoken conversations within the glances they shared. 

“Hotch-” Emily tried to speak up, to convince him that wasn’t the case.

“NO!” He yelled suddenly, stopping in his tracks. “You don’t understand, I can’t lose them!” His voice was heavy with despair, eyes wide in anguish.

All eyes were trained on him, his coworkers at loss for words at the confession. 

“I can’t lose them…” Aaron mumbled this himself before roughly pushing out of the tent.

You smiled to yourself as you took a last glance towards the sleeping man next to you before turning back to your book. Safe to say, you were incredibly shocked when Aaron showed up on your doorstep in the dark of the night all those months ago, soaked in the rain, kissing you with a sense of urgency before you could even ask him what he was doing there. You bit your lip at the memory, but shook it out of your head to try and focus in on the jumbled words swimming in your lap. From the get-go, the two of you decided you would remain extremely professional around your coworkers, and you did just that. You stopped your teasing, for the most part at least, and made sure to never initiate physical contact on the job. Anyone that didn’t already know you were in a relationship would never have guessed. The most you allowed yourselves was sitting next to one another on the jet, just like you were doing now. 

An unintelligible murmur and huff sounding from your side drew your short-lived attention away from the delicate pages in front of you. Just as you were about to look over to Aaron and make sure he was okay, a heavy weight thumped onto your shoulder. His head. You were taken aback, a giggle slipping through your lips before you could help it. Your fingers flew up to your mouth, trying to keep yourself quiet as you noticed him shift a bit, making himself more comfortable. Sure, you’d accidentally fallen against Hotch’s shoulder in your sleep a couple times before the two of you entered a relationship, but never in a million years did you expect him to do the same to you. On the jet. In front of everyone. Of course, he couldn’t control his actions in his sleep, you reasoned. And maybe you should gently shrug him off to help retain his authority around the teasing profilers. But, this time, you fought off that thinking and gave in to your instinct. He had been so tense and strung out this entire case, you knew he needed this.

To hell with professionalism. You thought with a devilish grin, happy in your resolution. And so, you gently closed your book and slid it onto the table in front of you, trying your best to move as little as possible before leaning your head against his own and closing your eyes. With the gentle hum of the jet engines and the comforting sounds of Aaron’s breathing, you were lulled into a wonderful slumber in no time.

“Oh my God,” Emily breathed out, garnering the attention of Spencer who rested in the same group of seats as her. He looked up at her with one eye from where he was slumped over in his window seat, trying to get some shut-eye. 

“Huh?” the sleepy doctor grumbled, pushing himself a bit more upright when he noticed Emily looking at something on the other side of the jet, her face a mixture of shock and glee. 

The raven-haired agent began slapping Derek’s shoulder, who sat peacefully next to her with his eyes closed and headphones over his ears. His eyes flew open, looking over to Emily with annoyance as he took off his headphones, “What! What!”    

Immediately Emily shushed him, “Look!” she whispered, hand flying wildly in the air, eyes still unmoving. 

Derek followed her line of sight the scene before him pulling a laugh of disbelief from his lungs. “Well, well, well…” 

Emily’s hands covered her mouth in astonishment. “JJ!” she whispered over to the blonde who lay curled up on the sofa next to them. “Ugh,” she groaned quietly, unable to wake her coworker. 

“I can’t believe this,” she whispered mostly to herself, settling back in her seat, garnering a shake of Morgan’s head.

The view of their hard-headed unit chief sleeping peacefully on the shoulder of his subordinate, the latter’s head resting sweetly back on his was suddenly blacked by the side of Rossi’s body as he stuck his arm out, trying to get the best angle to immortalize this moment on camera.

“Good for them,” Morgan grinned, his voice proudly announcing his amusement as he put his headphones back over his head.

“Rossi, you better send me that!” Emily spoke up just a little bit louder, the old man looking back and motioning his phone towards her in acknowledgement.

“What? What!?” Spencer whisper-yelled, unsuccessfully craning his head above and between the seats to get a glimpse of what all the hubbub was about, “What are you guys looking at!?”    

“Penelope’s gonna flip,” Emily mumbled to herself, a teasing smile playing on her face as she looked down at the picture Rossi sent her. Without a second thought, she saved the photo onto her phone. They’re never gonna live this down.

just watched today's hour long ep and im leaving my thoughts below:

putting aside the fact that the current writers can be complete nonsensical idiots most of the time, there is something pretty suspicious about this whole rebecca plot twist.

first, why kill her if ross says they had split up for a while before she died? if this twist was only to serve ross's comeback story, then they had no need to kill rebecca at all. ross said today that after they split, rebecca had already moved to bristol with seb to stay with her aunt so that would have been that. ross would still have been stupid enough to get into illegal fighting and other criminal activities on his own without the added grief of her death.

second, people are panicking because robert apparently signed the papers so seb could stay with this supposed aunt of rebecca. im sorry, but what else did you expect robert to do? since the moment he went to prison, robert made it a priority to sever himself from aaron. he handed himself in so aaron could have a life of his own, and seb a dad he could one day be proud of, instead of a father on the run for the rest of his life. so i don't believe robert would EVER put seb on aaron if he could avoid it. can you imagine, robert thinking aaron has settled somewhere with a guy living a life of his own just how robert wished, only for robert to saddle him with his kid? yes, for us fans, that wouldn't be selfish because we know aaron would be great with seb, however, the prospect brings up so many questions to me personally, like does robert even know liv died? does he know aaron went to live in italy for a time? does he know aaron came back? we can't even trust victoria to have told robert anything because according to ross victoria hasn't been in contact with robert recently! she hasn't even been in contact with bex and seb, for years! even aaron said they didn't get in touch because they thought rebecca, ross and seb were "happy". which brings me to my third point.

according to today's episode, rebecca died around 3 months ago. who also showed up just around that time? john sugden. im not trying to build a conspiracy theory here—could john's army medic past allow him to perform surgeries in liverpool?? lmao im kidding—what i mean is (and correct me if im wrong), this seems like the time the "new stories" overseen by iain macleod started kicking in. which means they had to cover plot holes from past stories in the least limiting way possible, especially considering the show wouldn't want to spoil robert's return (if ryan does come back) or the fact he isn't coming back at all.

so we don't know if rebecca died before or after victoria called robert to tell him about john like she said she would. we don't know if it was robert who decided not to mention bex's death to vic, or if vic even spoke to robert at all after meeting john.

what im more and more certain of, though, is that seb will play a big part in the story going forward. his predicament as an orphan could:

give vic a plot - because why didn't her brother trust her with his son? could it be because robert thought she already had her hands full with her own kid? or did he think seb would be happier and more comfortable with people he already knew and was familiar with? now that vic's dismal plot with jacob is done, i can see her trying to get some offscreen visiting rights with the bristol auntie, or, in the best case scenario, onscreen seb visits.

give aaron a plot - unfortunately another one that involves john, because being a father is something that aaron always wanted and, depending on who writes this sl, it could have him opening up to john about his and robert's surrogacy attempts. i don't mind it at all, because if robert comes back it will be much juicier if aaron and john are as settled as possible (good luck with that nonexistent chemistry lol), yet i refuse to watch those two bring up seb. period.

an emergency exit to ross - michael parr's interviews have been vague at best. he has talked about doing a short stint and not knowing what the future holds for his character, so if seb doesn't return in the foreseeable, he could well be the reason ross goes away again.

speed up robert's release - yes, robert signed the papers for seb to stay with his aunt in bristol, but i don't doubt he has thought about attempting a new appeal so he could be with his son. legal matters take time and with the lee/luke plot loophole from a few years back, it would only be a case of waiting for ryan to be available.

this seems to be the gist of it to me so far. but i have to mention the one thing that stood out to me today and which i really enjoyed was how calm aaron was through everything except the one moment ross threw the 'slept with his brother' comment in his face. i need 10 more of those, ross. keep them coming!

You are so right about Aaron being a plot device for all this. Like WTF are they doing when Danny is right there, like if I was an Aaron stan I would be so mad about all this.

I read that the fall out is going to be Cain sl so it makes sense that when all blows up we and Robert is not really back we'll never know WTF was he thinking and why he was so fucking desparate to agree to marry the brother of the so called love of his life or why he loved him when he had nothing real just horrible sex, Which is kind of sad, also we don't know what sl he'll have with Mack that is big enough for them to tease about it, I doubt it's them getting Mack gay or like some idiots want.

My bet is thay Mack might end up really hurt by this and Aaron would be guilty about it or even better he'll be death and they will have Aaron cry for him like he was his spouse or something like that.

The show just loves misery Aaron so much and I think that as long as Danny needs the job nothing will ever change for him, the show will never care enough to show him in a story that is not just misery all the time.

Time to accept that the show has not care about Aaron as a character aside from robron they just don't care and I think DM knows it and that's why he changed his mind/tune and now he's back at the nostalgia feeding the fandom he knows the character is stuck in a limbo and he just needs the job which is fair but at one point I feel he should speak out to the producers and writers he could still bring the awards and still has some following online they should respect him and give him something to work a real storyline instead of more years of failure stories. Do fucking something that man has talent and even when soaps are a terrible this is just pathetic for a character like him.

It's frustrating because in his previous stints on the show he's always been a well used, probably overused at times character so it's bit jarring not to get more of his perspective in this story. Also because he is on screen a fair amount, but he's more just kind of there to prop up John's story than anything for him.

And like I would imagine they're rationalizing this for Aaron in that he's been lonely since Robert went to prison, since Ben died, since Liv died, since Marco broke up with him. He came back determined not to be close to anyone and they half assed that turn around but I guess they had him decide he did want people in his life again so he...I guess...took the first one that came along? It's just that they put absolutely zero effort into the early part of the relationship so there's such a disconnect there for me and I imagine for many. And sure at this point you could say that he also feels indebted to John for many things which is why he keeps allowing him to get away with things but without that foundation of exploring why he'd even want to really start this relationship, it all falls really flat. And that's not even getting into the lack of chemistry aspect.

It's also hard when they seemingly went out of their way to make John Robert's long lost gay half brother, which seems like it would be a major deal for Aaron and then they've barely done anything with it. And like I'm not saying Aaron can't date him if he wants to, we just don't really know why he wanted to. And because they made this connection, it seems like they really should have made that part of the story.

As for the Mack stuff, I would imagine that's just a continuation of the John story. I just think they don't want to spoil the outcome of the wedding week stuff and that John isn't getting caught out yet. I expect them to get married and then maybe things start to get more apparent. I would imagine it would probably result in Aaron and Mack teaming up against John or John holding one of them captive in this new set thing they were building for whatever special week nonsense that will be and the other has to rescue them maybe. That's my wild or not so wild prediction anyway.

But yeah, I do think Aaron was very much exhausted as a character when he left last time, especially with Robert gone. But when they brought him back again, if they weren't going to be able to get Ryan to come back, I think they should have tried to give Aaron an actual relationship again that had some real development and story behind it. His character growth got stalled out when Robert went to prison with the whole settled, starting a family bit. I think it was too soon to do it right after Robert was gone but I think at this point, even though diehard Robron people might not like it, I think it was time to do something real with him again. And this John thing is the furthest thing from that, especially since he's barely a character in it.

Soaps love to do the this character wants to get married but turns out they can’t because they’re already married to someone else but can you imagine that as a sl for Aaron and them trying to get married and be like I’m afraid sir we cannot allow you to get married as your still married to ‘Robert J Sudgen’ and then the shenanigans of Aaron wanting to ‘marry’ his ‘new love’ and having to go talk to Robert and all that stuff it would be hilarious but also if Robert was like ?? Ugh no.. 😂 anyway… anything to get Aaron out of marrying Robert’s brother 🤮

At one point, a long while back, that was an idea of mine… that their divorce was never fully finalized for one reason or another. Never, in a million years, would I have ever considered Aaron wanting to marry a boring, chemistry-less, one facial expression long lost brother of Robert’s and only months after having met him (and having deja vu’d many of their special moments and not acknowledging any as such to boot!) - just 🤢.

At this point in time, with Robert potentially still in prison for over five years (in my head, he’s actually out and caring for Sebastian somewhere… Ross knowing this… while he’s handling his mental health issues that worsened in prison with the help of a legacy Sugden/Merrick… three generations under one roof!), the bigger question would be what his state of mind would be. What of 2018-2019 Robert remains after all that time. I would be more interested in Aaron seeing how prison has changed the man he married TWICE OVER and, from there, realizing what he thought he has with that bland 😐 bloke won’t make him happy after all so no need for a divorce after all 🙃!

Hopefully, the faux being revealed as a serial killer (🙏) and secondly not a Sugden (🙏) will stop this nonsense of the two marrying in the end but who knows what’s in the twisted minds of TIIC.

1. (Thief) MC, Granite Hall [Grant] is a Sassy Thief who Smuggles gemstones from the Earth/Cave-themed kingdom.

2. (Outcast) 100% Disheveled Idgaf guy, Aragonite Hollins [Aaron/Argon] is a random city insider who nobody likes because he's lowkey kind of a bitch - Also from the Earth-themed caves

3. (Insanity) Savanna Fields [Anna] is batshit insane and terrifies her coworker and fellow slave Mesa [Mace] by harassing their masters and earning herself punishment on purpose as a fuck you. Other than that... she's just crazy - From the Fire-themed Mesas

4. (Assassin) Kelp Stryker [Kel] He fucking hates his name, and is a professional Assassin under the Queen of his water-themed kingdom. He is forced to work with a Freelance spy/burglar named Brook Swann

Duncan has apparently said that there is a big SL coming up for Aaron. Duh! 😉 Of course there is! He has been shooting 16hour shifts and the 2025 Emmerdale promo showed him tossing what looked like a body bag in the river!! 🙆‍♀️ The question is not if there is a sl but what SL.

The SL I want: 1) Aaron is triggered by Anthony, so, he loses it and takes a leaf out of his ex husband's book🔪👩‍🌾 Confesses. Ends up on the IoW. Exclusive special episode on an explosive Robron reunion in prison- fireworks, punches, angst with happy ending. No chance of Chas distraction or threat of Paddy locking him up. OR.

2) Aaron finds out John Sugden is not who he is. They fight, break up or he dies. Aaron sets on a mission to quietly put his family back together.

The SL I think we will get:

1) Aaron is triggered by Anthony. Starts self harming again. Fauxbert and Aaron have a heart-to-heart about Aaron's Dad (which will set him apart from other non Robert bfs). Fauxbert tries but fails to reign Aaron in and Aaron ends up in Anthony's SL in any case and does something rash.

Of all the Robron scenes Emmerdale has replicated with Fauxbert, I wish they had left that reveal scene alone. But alas!

Danny's New Year post about Robron was just a tease. Tbh I wouldn't put much stock into it. We have to accept that the Next Chapter is pretty much them going their own ways and settling in farms on different continents perhaps 🥲 Doesn't mean I won't be clowning though 😉 I can wait until my last breath for a reunion and when I die, I will lobby Satan Down Under to work on the reunion 😂

I don't trust Duncan. I wouldn't even trust him if he was standing right in front of me and told me something I knew was 100% true.

having said that - I do think Aaron will be involved in the Ruby story. But only from the sidelines. A little like Cain now - suspicious of Anthony - but with Aaron it probably won't go any further than that.

I really don't think they'll go back to Aaron self harming. They didn't when he lost Robert, they didn't when he lost Seb - i doubt they'll go there over bloody Anthony and Ruby.

And Fauxbert already knows about gordon - they had this heart to heart in the woods a few weeks ago where Aaron mentioned going camping with gordon or something and fauxbert knew what he was talking about. So supposedly he told him about the abuse *off screen*. Because their relationship is *that* important.

As for Ryan coming back - hope dies last!

Yes, it was me. I was mostly active on my old account, victoriasugden ( @victoriasugden1 ) I privtated the url victoriasugden, than I moved over here old url peterbeale and then when I left the fandom I changed it to my current url. I didn't really tell anyone apart from a hand full of people I talked to a lot that I was leaving because I didn't think people would care. I'm not special.

I left when Rebecca took Seb and left with Ross - because I thought it was ridiculous to put the boys through all that and then take Seb away after Aaron had come to terms with it. Like what was the point?

Also I've been watching soap since I was a kid - I could see the writing on the wall, the new producer at the time who took over for Iain MacLeod clearly didn't like robron, or at the very least Robert. Sorry can't remember her name. I knew it was going to go downhill from there and I was right so I was very happy I got off that train before it went off the cliff so to speak. I've been casual watching since Ryan left. Can't say I've been too impressed, by far my favourite addition has been Caleb, and that's mostly because I've had a crush on William Ash since I was like 10.

Re Seb. I was never thrilled with the sl - I just tried to make do with what we were given. They got Rebecca pregnant, they had her keep the kid - I wasn't in the writing room, so I just tried to make do. Unlike so many others, when I no longer was willing to do that, instead of kicking off I just quietly left the fandom. And I stand with the like 0.1% of the fandom that shipped Katie/Robert.

It's very funny, cause a couple of days ago I found a copy of TV NOW floating in my room from 2017, it's the Robron wedding edition. Talk about a blast from the past! I really do miss the fandom, not the drama though - but the community. I especially miss how fun it was to live blog! i was thinking about it last night and trying to remember the last time i actually watched the robron sl in full. it had to have been before robert left so that's at LEAST 6 years ago. probably longer tbh. so i would've been what, 21? 22 at most? either way i was practically a baby. and obv i enjoyed it and it imprinted in my brain forever but tbh i actually think i'm enjoying watching it way more now as a proper adult than i did then bc i think i understand the nuance of it all a lot more now. like the stuff with diane giving andy their dad's wedding ring without telling robert, i wouldn't have grasped why that was such a big deal as a kid.

i mean there's so much stuff i'm only just noticing and im only like a month into 2015. like just HOW badly and unfairly his family were treating him. the way robert was so unsubtle abt how fucked up he was over his childhood and yet none of his family ever seem to pick up on it. how obvious the age gap between robert and aaron is sometimes (like that scene in the hotel when aaron's sitting there in his dressing grown and robert crawls across the bed to him. he literally looks like a lamb abt to be eaten by a big bad wolf). how subtle robert's struggles with his sexuality are (this has been the biggest one for me, bc while it has moments where it's really obvious, there's still an undercurrent of it through nearly everything that i definitely missed when i was younger). just how QUCKLY aaron fell in love with robert, and how quickly he become unnormal abt him and therefore began to spiral - and on the flip side of that, just how far robert went and how hard he worked just to be able to continue his affair w aaron despite the fact that he was insisting it was gonna end when he got married ANYWAY, and how clear it was that it was no longer just a physical thing for robert but how it was also clear that robert himself didn't seem to understand/notice that until aaron tried to end it for good. i also have a brand new appreciation for just HOW clever and manipulative robert really is. like you'd have to be watching with your eyes closed to miss that even as a kid but he really is good at it. it's just that when aaron came a long he started getting reckless and sloppy.

anyway there's no point to this post i just think it's interesting to notice just how different this sl feels to me as an adult compared to when i was practically still a teenager idk

I know Emmerdale is all gloom and doom these days, and Danny is their go to for angst because he plays it so well (I sadly think April is the next generation) But dear god give the man some happiness already! While I did not like mister cardboard at least it was like "eh at least it gives Aaron a breather" I honestly dont understand how the man (Aaron) is still standing. I'm just clinging to the fact that they woudnt do another abuse sl so close to Belles that they made a point to go on forever and a day. But whatever it is you know we'll see more hurt Aaron somehow. I wanted cute dad/mentor Aaron, not crying Aaron again. Make it stop, please make it stop

I mean I was all for Aaron dating a serial killer or whatever John turns out to be but I kind of wanted that for his first post Robert relationship instead. And then we got...Ben. Haha.

But yeah no, a wild soapy dating a serial killer could have been a fun thing for Aaron in 2021. Like imagine if Mack had been a serial killer instead of Meena and he had actually dated Aaron or something to that effect. Because then it would have given Aaron, not happiness obviously but a big dramatic soapy story to be a part of. And it wouldn't have been a relationship meant to last, which would have been nice from a Robron perspective. It also could have led nicely into an exit for Aaron if he needed a break after all of that.

And then his second on screen relationship, if they really can't convince Ryan to come back, could have been more of an actual serious thing.

And if they'll never be willing to explore Aaron doing surrogacy because of the faulty gene thing or adoption cause they are allergic to a successful adoption story, then I still say dating a single father could have been a decent story for Aaron. Allow him to play step dad again and recapture some of that character growth he had by 2019 that all got squandered when Ryan left.

I also am still kind of an advocate for Aaron ending up taking in a wayward teen for the early Paddy/Aaron parallels. He had it a little bit with Liv but he clearly wasn't quite ready for that. But it would be a decent non romantic story for him. Plus, if it was a new teen character, they could use the fact that they'd be building something with Aaron to actually give this new kid screen time and a personality and maybe use them to build the teen group around. I just want them to have a decent teen group again because it gets worse with every generation and it makes me sad.

But yeah, I don't know where this John stuff is going to go but it will probably result in some angry Aaron and some crying depressed Aaron and you're right, it's just not as fun anymore. In part because he's already been through so much but also because it all feels a bit shallow these days.

Hi! Thanks for answering my ask. I was just going over Emmerdale's track record of dealing with off-screen Robert since 2019 in my head. And I was thinking, they might be gearing up for Robert gives his blessings or something to JS and Aaron (in a desperate bid to make this work). They have tried it in the past. Vic will eventually come to know and she might tell Robert. Maybe Emmerdale will "throw Robron fans a bone" and do a special episode of Aaron agonising or JS and Aaron talking about Robert (can't say which is worse) but eventually Aaron will decide to "move on" with JS. And this time it will be more solid coz it's not a random family, it's the Sugdens. It's like the Prince of The Netherlands marrying the Prince of Denmark or something.

I am not saying this to upset anyone or be nasty. I genuinely think Emmerdale have this idea that they are "resolving" the Robron issue and building up a "very interesting" SL.

I personally think they are mad for thinking this, but based on their track record - Ethan pouring cold water over Robert's appeal chances, Aaron hooks up with him, Ben was quite literally the opposite of Robert and apparently Aaron was very much in love with him...and then Aaron read Robert's letter in the special episode with Cain and I can't remember why, but decided not to contact him! I think Emmerdale are trying to "close" the Robron chapter more than finding a match for Aaron. And in their opinion this one works for whatever reasons. That is why they don't care about the chemistry between Aaron and John. It is supposed to be awkward and torturous so that "Aaron can finally get it out of the system". Not sure it will work tbh, but I can at least see what they are trying to do. OR do you think I am giving them too much credit and wayyy off the mark? Because the other part of my brain keeps saying there is no reason for this John to be a Sugden unless they are bringing Robert back.

I honestly have no idea what they're doing with fauxbert anymore. The whole Aaron at the layby thing was SO predictable - everyone called it from the moment we found out they were making the new sugden gay.

BUT last night when *gasp* we found out Aaron's hook up is a Sugden - and Robert's half brother at that, fauxbert seemed to be more interested in getting the hell out of there than hooking up with aaron again. And Aaron himself didn't even seem to be interested even before he found out who he was. And by the end it seemed he'd more likely made an enemy out of fauxbert than a potential partner.

It's so obvious they're going for a robron 2.0... but the question is WHY. If they wanted the audience to take any potential love interest for aaron seriously, you'd think they'd stay well away from anything that even hints at robron. But instead they go "remember robron?? remember when they kissed at this layby?? here we have a new character who is very much like early robron Robert... and he's gay! And oh yeah he's also Robert's half brother! And we're shoving him at Aaron! In the same layby where he first kissed Robert!" They keep reminding the audience of robron and Robert and constantly show and tell us that a) Aaron is not over Robert, and B) probably never truly will be, and c) no-one else comes close!

Look, I have nothing against people who are ready to give John/Aaron a chance. My thing is, if they are not gonna give Aaron a new good love interest, they should have just recast Robert.

And know, I loved Ryan too, trust me I was in the thick of the fandom at the time. But putting Aaron with Robert's brother (it's a soap, I know) just feels so lazy, like yeah, it works in soapland, but it feels like they don't know what to do with Aaron's character.

Ever since Robert left and Liv died, he's really just been around and getting him with John feels like Emmerdale are just trying to recreate another robron, and like I just don't think you can do that with pairing Aaron with Robert's brother. I seriously believe Robert could survive a recast, if they did a chemistry test. Emmerdale should have done that instead.

Also I just feel like the John Sugden sl is so stupid without Robert and Andy being there, since ED doesn't give a shit about Victoria lol.
