Announcing Ace Week 2021: Beyond Awareness

Thank you to everyone who joined us in reflecting on the history of our community over the past week. We’ve come a long way since Asexual Awareness Week was founded in 2010!

In these reflections, one thing became clear: it’s time we look beyond awareness. It’s not enough that people simply know that asexuality exists. Ace people face invalidating health care systems, legal protections that are ambiguous at best, histories that risk being forgotten, and more.

This is one reason why we no longer call this event “Asexual Awareness Week.” By embracing the name “Ace Week,” we’re making a commitment to do more than simply raise awareness, and we hope you’ll join us.

Without further ado, we’re thrilled to announce that the next Ace Week will take place on October 24th-30th, 2021, with the theme Beyond Awareness!

There’s no time like the present to start planning for Ace Week 2021! We encourage you to check out the collection of ace activism opportunities by @redbeardace (also on asexualityarchive.com) to get an idea of how you might like to get involved.

Charles is surprised to find Hunnicutt alone in the swamp.

“Evening, Hunnicutt,” he says, and gets a half-hearted wave from Hunnicutt, who is lying on his cot re-reading a letter from home for what must be at least the fifth time since it arrived this morning. “Where’s your partner in crime?”

“San Francisco.”

“I meant Pierce.”

“Hm?” Hunnicutt looks up at last. “Oh, Hawkeye’s on a date.”

“Surprised you’re not joining him.”

“Three’s a crowd.”

“Uh huh.”

“Besides, I’m a one-woman man, always have been,” Hunnicutt says, folding his letter and sitting up. “I may not always wear my ring, Charles, but I am spoken for.”

“I’ve known… quite a few men that wouldn’t be stopped by that.”

“Then let me put it another way: I’m not interested in anybody else.”

“No?”

“No.”

There’s a defensive note in Hunnicutt’s voice that Charles isn’t accustomed to, a fire in his eyes.

“I apologize, Hunnicutt, I didn’t mean to… imply anything. But you said it yourself, this camp is constantly preoccupied with sex.”

“I’m not.”

Charles’s heart skips a beat, as he looks up, meeting Hunnicutt’s eye. “What did you say?”

“I said…” Hunnicutt frowns. “What?”

“No, no, don’t let me interrupt.”

“I said… I’m not interested in sex with anyone here.”

Charles sighs, somewhat deflated, sitting back. “I see.”

“I mean… I was never interested in sex,” Hunnicutt continues, his face flushing. “Not until I met Peg anyway, and then… I was.”

“You mean… until you met your wife…?”

Hunnicutt shrugs, a wistful smile on his face. “Peg is the only one for me, Charles – not because infidelity is bad, or because all the property is in her name, but because she’s the only woman I’ve ever wanted to be with.”

“Oh.”

“Why do you ask?”

“Because…” Charles hesitates, feeling as though he’s seeing Hunnicutt in a new light. “Because I am not… interested in sex myself. Quite the opposite really.”

“Oh.”

“And I do not think it is contingent upon meeting the right person. It is simply how I am.”

Hunnicutt nods, but there’s no judgement on his face. “That’s alright then, Charles. It’s how you are.”

“You don’t think it’s… unnatural?” Charles asks, and then, in a bid to sound casual, “Not that I care what you think.”

Hunnicutt outright laughs at this. “Charles, what is natural? Who decides that?”

Charles allows himself to smile. “Fair point… BJ.”

BJ smiles. “And thanks for telling me.”

“Thank you… although BJ?”

“Yes?”

“We can never tell Pierce about this.”

BJ nods. “Agreed.”

“Now,” Charles says, clearing his throat of any emotion. “How about a game of chess?”

“You’re on, Winchester.”

My completely uneducated guess regarding Wanru's Journey after the first 6 episodes.

We have a choppy chop chop drama that was shot in 2021 off the shelves here because The Blood of Youth was a hit and people want more of the leads (why we got Wulin Heroes) and IQIYI had this. And it is a romp.

Knowing nothing about the source material my completely uneducated guess on this drama is that it is the censored story about a novelist transmigrating into her own story while also forgetting her own lore in the process and hooking up with the leads.

A) FL first thinks she is the villain and later that she has a guest appearance. Translation issue or a hint at a deleted beginning of the drama when she transmigrates?

B) FL is writing novels about the two MLs when we meet her (and before she met them) in Jianghu. The MLs are sworn brothers and the sons of two big martial arts clans. It is never said explicitly that she is writing danmei could just be regular wuxia but yeah, she is probably writing danmei

C) Apart from writing novels about them, FL is drawing art of the two ML to be copied and also sold. Like she drew them watching the fireworks together at ML's birthday party. The fireworks 2ML organized. (and FL watched them watching and went aaw)

D) The sworn brothers have lovely bro dates at ~their secret place. Or not so secret because FL stumbles upon them and enjoys the scene.

E) yes there is sparring on a boat.

F) ML is annoyed/jealous when FL goes to hang out with her fiance 2ML. Not because he is into her (yet) but because he wants 2ML all to himself.

All subtext of course!! (well apart from the illustrations and novels, mwahaha)

FL is a hoot, ML hilariously faints out of rage at one point, 2ML is only goody two shoes on the surface, so yes, this is a romp and if you're into wuxia and don't mind choppiness, give it a shot. Oh and city lord from Tiger and Rose is ML's mother and can kick your ass.

Welcome to the sixth edition of #AggressivelyArospecWeek!

#AggressivelyArospecWeek (#AAW) is a week-long event promoting the creation of arospec fancontent by arospec creators.

Our event aims to create a space where arospec creators are free to explore their identities through fanwork. We believe that fandom is a great way to share our passions, our interests and to empower one another in our arospec identities. All while having loads of fun!

Please join us from June 20 to June 26 2021 and enjoy a small explosion of arospec fancontent. You’re welcome to submit any type of content for the event, whether it be fanfic, headcanons, mixtapes, fanart,… Anything goes!

Any content you submit has to be centered around a character’s arospec identity (whether that character is canonically arospec or you headcanon them as so.) Content can be about any fandom whatsoever!

To submit, please make a new post during the event week and tag it as #AggressivelyArospecWeek, or submit your work directly to our blog through the ask and submission boxes. Your post will then be reblogged on the Aggressively Arospec blog.

We also have a Twitter account, so use the hashtags #AggressivelyArospecWeek and #AAW21 if you tweet about your work on there. You can also mention us in your tweet to be sure we don’t miss it and can retweet it. Do submit through tumblr if you can, however, since that is the best way to get your contribution archived with all the others.

Lastly, a collection will be opened on Archive of our Own to round up all the fanfics posted on there.

"I may or may not have gotten my hands on some spray paint in New York and left a nasty message for the triple J spider hater on his own billboard, enchanted so it won't wash off for a solid year. How have you been?"

Scott stares at the drinks and sour candy Loki has. That’s *a lot*. “Did you spray on the actual video screen? Aaw man, that means if I hack it, I’ll be blocked from view. What did you write on there? Do I want to know? Oh yeah, uhh I’m doing good.”

A puff of dark smoke fills the air above the sidewalk in front of Scott and a tall, thin man fell from the cloud and hit the ground hard, landing on his back and wheezing. His yellow eyes stared up at the sky as he tried to catch the breath that had been knocked out of him. His dark blue complexion matched that of the night sky in an area with no light pollution. He slowly sat up, a thin, long, spade ended tail snaking around his abdomen. "Scheiße, scheiße, das tat weh," the strange looking individual muttered in German

Scott jerks back in surprise. Holy shit! What the world? Who is this guy? Also…what is he?

Scott can at least recognize the dude is speaking German, so that further adds to the mystery. Too bad he doesn’t know one German syllable. “Uhhh, sorry,” he says slowly, keeping his distance for now. “I don’t know German. Are - are you okay?”

Philza, Techno and Tommy: Happy birthday! Wilbur, at age 14: Oh I'm not doing that anymore. Tommy: ... Birthdays? Wilbur: Yeah, I just decided I'm not aging anymore. Philza: Why? Wilbur: I've seen adulthood and it just doesn't vibe with me. So... No more birthdays. Tommy whispering to Philza: Can he do that? Philza: Of course not. Philza: ... Philza whispering to Techno: Can he? Techno: Look yesterday he took his whole arm off and used it to reach the top shelf where you keep the good snacks.
