Crowley says at the same time Az says "we could do that." they STARE at each other and Az is offended like "why not?"

then they argue about weather angels are holy in the sense of if you come in contact with their fluids, it discorporates demons. "we've shared a cup of tea before! what about that time you accidentally turned your head and our lips brushed, or the other 4 times that happened?" Muriel speaks up "um, how can that happen accidentally so many times?"

I've been thinking after a conversation with @guraiuna how everyone describes Childe as unpredictable.

And... yes, technically he is unpredictable. In the sense that human mind cannot conceive the shit this guy comes up with.

But also in every single interaction he *explains* what to expect of him. He states his goals, in which capacity he is currently here (personal/professional) and what he is going to do about that.

Even when you are a complete stranger and an enemy he is currently trying to trick, he still does it, just in the form of a hint.

He does it in the Golden House before the duel and before summoning Osial, he does it in Labyrinth Warriors, he does it with the treasure hoarders in Liyue and those thugs who threatened the blacksmith in Fontaine. He does it with Neuvilette (who then proceeds to assume the boy is just making fun of the court).

I wonder if it's because he views everything as a game or a duel and it makes sense to let the opponent know the rules. It's not fun to cheat (he's also confident in his ability to win).

He is extremely straightforward if you listen to him. I rarely see people who announce boundaries and intentions this clearly.

Does anyone ever take that seriously? N o p e. And somehow he's the crazy and unpredictable one. I can't with you all.

(to be honest, I do that too. I've spent so much time thinking the first encounter in Fontaine was a trick of some sort)

when i first started to play the Changeling route, i was expecting snarky child Clara roasting the shit out of grown adults

what i was NOT expecting was just how vulnerable, scared, and emotional Clara is throughout the whole thing

the amount of emotional turmoil and torment Clara goes through is fucking insane. i’m only on day eight, and this child has completely speedrun anxiety, daddy issues, abandonment issues, and trauma—among other things. she’s only twelve days old by the end of the whole thing, and her mental health is already in pieces 😭

but like, some of the things you can make her say really highlight just how vulnerable and young she is.

whereas in the Haruspex and Bachelor routes you can refuse quests because you can’t be bothered, Clara can refuse a lot of quests because she’s scared. because what she’s doing freaks her out, and she doesn’t want to get involved.

she also just seems so sad all the time. especially on day six, which is just a huge emotional rollercoaster for the poor kid (one part that sticks with me is when it’s implied that she starts crying while talking to the Albino, and the Albino does his best to comfort her, and she starts weeping about how even Katerina, her own mother, disowned her)

this is so jarring after you play both the Bachelor and Haruspex routes because she acts nothing like this. you see hints of her vulnerability, but usually when you talk to her, she’s very cryptic and strange. she’s nothing like she is in the Changeling route, where her youth and fragile mental state is suddenly laid bare right before your eyes.

also there’s a line where she admits that she’s been “crying a lot lately.” so. yeah.

well, guess who lost control of my hands again and was compelled to scribble down designs for ANOTHER Deltarune AU? yeah. me. it doesn't really have a proper name yet so I've just been calling it Changeling AU for now, I'll figure that out later.

these would be the cast's dark world designs; they parallel early Deltarune concepts in which the lightners would turn into monsters in the dark world-- with a few medieval fantasy fae-flavored twists this time around. mortals become a variety of magical beasts in the fae's dark realm, with only 'Kris' strangely unaffected... aside from the hue shift and conspicuously pointed ears, that is.

the main 'Kris' of this AU isn't the only human in town. instead, they're ironically the only one in town who ISN'T human, though not even they know it yet. in reality they're a Changeling, a fae creature that was left as a 'gift' to replace a taken human child. they can do things, strange things. animals come to them in the night, and the cool touch of iron burns their skin. they're afraid of what they see in the mirror; human eyes don't gleam in the dark, and their teeth shouldn't be so sharp. so they hide their features, and they ignore the whispers of the townsfolk, and they keep their head down.

they made a mistake, a terrible one... and they need to set it right.

meanwhile, the human they replaced is still out there somewhere in the fae world, twisted by its curse into a cornered, desperate beast seeking any escape from the realm that has held them prisoner all their life. it's said that when the full moon casts deep shadows over the woods, you can still hear their anguished howls in the dark begging for the name that once was theirs. they can never leave the dark world without it. they'd do anything to get it back.

all they've ever really wanted was to find their way home.
