#peak male form actually #jason todd #dc #I love how nobody but Martian Manhunter really knew the brothers in blood arc had started and even then it was just a side note #because too much shit was happening in this story for that to have any bearing whatsoever at that moment #but also because Jason playing dress up isn't a big league issue it just happened to cross manhunter's radar lol #so Jason makes the decision to dress up as Nightwing and go to ny as black adam is destroying the world and the trinity is gone #he finds a group of criminals about to run off with a suitcase of cash #he gives them a mini lecture about how irresponsible it is for decorated self-important heroes like Bruce to disappear at a time like this #and how it’d also be irresponsible of him if he’d let them get away knowing they’re going to fuck shit up while the world is ending #it’s implied he killed them #then it cuts to a panel of him with the suitcase #saying that’s the easiest money he made and ‘this vigilante thing is a breeze’#as if he didn’t pretty much do the same thing to the biggest drug lords of Gotham like five minutes ago #giving them a big scare and leaving with 40% of their millions #granted he did have to guillotine a bunch of their lieutenants but he said it himself it was only 2 hrs and he got 40%#also that second part is even funnier because he says it as if vigilantism isn’t *the only thing* he’s done pretty much his whole life #like. you boosted car parts and sold them for money to dodge the foster system. then you were robin. In my last entry, I pointed out the similarities between chapters 249 and 121, but I had hit the image limit and wasn’t able to embed screenshots. I got around this by linking the chapters, but this is probably my favorite parallel, and to do it justice I think I need to really put them next to each other.

the urge to ignore your assigned summer readings in favour of starting yet another Dostoevsky book that will ruin your life

#I'm reading Zeno's conscience right now and it's not even bad. I hated it at first because I had just finished the brothers karamazov #so naturally any book after that would seem like shit. anyways after a hundred pages or something I finally started appreciating it #BUT.i have an old ass edition of crime and punishment that just looks so eatable.you can't understand how fucking good that edition looks #I just know it is worth it to detach from reality for like a week and come back as a changed person. cons are that I would be even less #motivated to do my actual assigned readings or any type of homework ever honestly. vacations started a month ago #and I still haven't done shit aside from reading a bit of zeno's conscience.i am so cooked #also I'm having a category five depression moment so to cope with finishing tbk I am rereading one chapter a day and watching a weirdly well #made rai adaptation of it 🙏#dostoevskij #dostoevksy #fyodor dostoevsky #fedor dostoevskij #the brothers karamazov #crime and punishment #the gambler #the idiot #demons #white nights #etc etc

Finals are nigh I am thinking about the Solomon a Gaenor fic again time is a circle

#honestly it's because when i was first thinking about it in december i made the most banger playlist for it #and i have been listening to that again as Comforting Background Music and hence thinking about it #i should write down the names of their five children in the doc before i actually forget them #i don't think i'm going to write it but it is a good excuse to push me to think about welsh and wales more often #and who knows. i think it would make a great messy soap opera 100k word unfinished fic on ye olde ao3 #perce rambles #also on a different note i reread what i have of the stephen doing top surgery on hornblower fic and i'm upset at how good it is #why do they all sound in character why does it actually have a functional plot who wrote this #now i need to insert The Navy's Most Intense Game Of Piquet: Trans Feelings Edition™ and also several more scenes but aaaaaa #very very excited for when that sees the light of day (probably won't be for like another year lol. there's a reason why it's cohesive)#anyways here's your silly fic update. also doing the stephen/jack famous flower of serving men but that one's cooking slowly too. we'll see

I'm almost finished with this notebook with it's horrible paper, and I just finished the first page of my Big Project

#Oh yeah - it's all coming together #Hgggg I am so sick of this notebook! It's wack as fuck!#It has made editing a Chore for the past eight months >:0 Not fun or meditative At All #Even worse is that the paper feels good to draw on but the cleanup is just! Awful!#I've just been completely ignoring my non-lined homemade notebook because it feels bad to draw on lol #The rest of the doodles for this year - yes that's how far the queue is backlogged rn lol - are still on that paper #But at least I'm like ><this close to being done with it ugh #I've got two blank pages and then like three half-doodled on pages that I'm planning to just knock out #It looks so weird 'cause the pages are all out of order lol - the first page was in March and the last in November #But like the next page after the first is /also/ November lol #Like it's largely in chronological order but it jumps around quite a lot! It was an interesting experiment #I also think it's funny since the first page got some fandom stuff that didn't come back around until now but it Looks chronological lol #I think I'll do it again but with some modifications - if I run out of steam/interest/motivation then I can fill it in however I want #Keeping it on-theme is fun but I find myself pushing ideas when I don't actually have any :P That's no good #It's not Always bad - I like quite a few of my spacefiller ideas! But if anything that just proves that finishing things out to make room-#Well like I said it was fun lol #And! As stated! look ive been looping the light behind your eyes by mcr for the past HOUR and i am having so many emotions i cannot even COMPREHEND right now so i am going to ramble about mania because i have twenty minutes left in computer science class and nothing to do. this is complete word vomit i did not go back through and edit read at your own caution

the thing i really love about mania as a whole is the juxtaposition of the symbols it uses; its literally going insane. It seems kind and pretty and aesthetic on the surface but scratch the top and you’re falling into a pit of maniac despair. There are llamas and purple and the ocean and sure those seem peaceful and lovely on the outside but thats the thing theyre NOT its a juxtaposition. Its something beautiful combined with awful traits (never in my life did i think i would watch llamas stab pete to death but cest la vie i guess) and that just makes things so much more horrifying. The overuse of purple feels like a panic attack, or a point trying to get through. the llamas, which are a symbol of peace and royalty, are constantly used in a creepy/harmful way that really ruined llamas in general for me. Sunshine riptide is a fantastic song and i love it so much but its REALLY FUCKING DEPRESSING AT ITS CORE. AND !!!! the constant use of royalty as a pedestal!!!! purple is the color of royalty!!!! The purple llama’s name is Royal-Tea!!! LLAMAS ARE A SYMBOL OF ROYALTY!!!! Its like a motif idk i just think its so interesting. And then theres the song champion which is. obviously linked.

As i write this my playlist hits me in the face with Calm Down and then Fake Out in quick succession its making me so depressed ajskfhewincn

mania is also a really interesting experimental album but the new elements are incorporated so flawlessly its rlly difficult to tell theyre new things that fall out boy hasnt done before. Also in this they add a lot of Black influences, like burna boy featuring on sunshine riptide (AUGHHHHH ANOTHER SAD SONG JUST CAME ON IM DYING INSIDE) and heavens gate is very soul influenced. but since i am not black, im just some random chinese american (i might as well just be white), i feel like whatever i say im going to get wrong and i really, really do not want to fuck up talking about cultural things, but i really do love how different cultures are peppered into this album and it just feels so NATURAL. Like for instance i also saw in the youtube comment section of hold me tight or dont that it’s kinda like salsa music? Im not positive i just thought id add that in there.

My favorite tracks on mania are ranked as follows

Bishops knife trick (a true banger, ive talked about this already)

stay frosty royal milk tea (everyone likes it the least but it is a certified bop)

Church (aaa)

Young and menace (my musical wife)

Sunshine riptide (everytime i hear it i want to scream. in a good way)

Heavens gate (ITS SO FUCKING GOOD)

Champion (i listen to it before i perform, every time without fail)

Last of the real ones (brings me back to radio memories from 2018. Very good)

Hold me tight or dont (idk if youve ever heard the spotify acoustic version but it SLAPS)

Like to be completely honest with you there is no way to reasonably rank these. Theyre all fucking great. Honestly i love them all so, so much. Mania has my heart forever i just kind of ranked them by how often im in the mood to listen to them

There is definitely more i want to talk about but now class is over so i am going to go pass out on the floor of my debate teachers room. im sorry this was incomprehensible. you find out too late i am insane
