A bit thicker than some serums I've tried. Hard to describe.

Feel: Tight

Also weird, but after absorbing, my skin felt a bit tighter and drier than usual. Needs a moisturizer.

Scent: 🌸🌸🌸🌸

This has a strange smell. I'm not sure if it's the combo of grassy matcha and citrus, or if the ferulic acid has something to do with it. I'm not really a fan though.

Results: I'll be honest with you, I barely used this serum because the majority of the time during my Acure try, I was using the Brightening Day Cream and the Age-Defying Night Cream. The night cream has ferulic acid and vitamin C in it, and trying to use that in conjunction with this serum increased my skin redness and photosensitivity to an uncomfortable level. Therefore, I set the serum aside for a while.

Since I ran out of the night cream, I've been using the serum again just with the day cream, and it seems okay. I'm still photosensitive, but not as bad as I was. My regular SPF protection is fine.

I'm still not a huge fan of this serum. The scent is a major turn-off for me, and I'm not enthused about the way it feels after application. I tend to think of serums as adding moisture to a routine, but this makes my skin feel kind of tight and dry. I'll use it up because I don't like to waste money, but it's not my favorite.

Comps: There's a lot of Vitamin C serum options out there.

Derma-E Vitamin C Concentrated Antioxidant Serum is going to be one of the best deals in this price range. Most serums are sold in 1 fl oz bottles. Derma-E is charging approximately 25 USD for a 2 ounce bottle, which means you're only paying 12.50 per ounce. You're not going to find that kind of deal with any other brands.

The Ordinary has a number of Vitamin C serums including Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% and Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin. I recommend browsing the product catalog on their website to read about their options, because there's really too much to summarize here.

Provence Beauty offers the Banana Bliss Daily Facial Serum and has recently released their Glow Up Luminescent Facial Serum. Both contain Vitamin C.

Cocokind Vitamin C Serum with Sea Grape Caviar is also a good option.

Pacifica Sea & C Love Serum and Glow Baby Vitamin C Booster Serum are sort of on par. The thing to keep in mind with Pacifica products is that, like Acure, they tend to have strong scents. Some use added fragrance. That may be a consideration for you.

If you have more sensitive skin and are prone to photosensitivity, you may want a gentler serum. I really like Honest Beauty Daily Green Juice serum. It's got some Vitamin C in it, but a number of other things as well. Their goal was to make a good 'starter serum' with this product that tackles a bunch of skin concerns but focuses on prevention. I think they succeeded.

You also may want to look at The INKEY List, as they have a couple options themselves.

If a serum is not for you, you may want to try purchasing Vitamin C powder and adding a pinch to your moisturizer for an antioxidant boost.

Fairly strong citrus scent.

Results: I'm honestly not sure if this has enough brightening power on its own. I used it in conjunction with the Radically Rejuvenating Night Cream, and I noticed about a 30% reduction in the visibility of my age spot.

That being said, I'm now using it on its own, and it's not strong enough to cause photosensitivity. That to me is an indicator that, despite the fruit extracts they use, there's not a very high concentration of Vitamin C. Which is nice if you've got sensitive skin, but a downside if you're looking for fast results.

I do think it does a nice job of helping to soothe skin redness caused by the brightening regimen. It has a number of ingredients designed to do so.

Overall, it's a nice moisturizer. The argan oil is very effective at countering the dryness of the serum.

Comps: If you're looking for faster brightening results or a stronger product, I'd recommend Derma-E Vitamin C Intense Antioxidant Night Cream or Radiance-Boosting Renewing Moisturizer. Pacifica's Glow Baby line also has a number of options. Peach Slices Snail Rescue line does too, but uses snail mucin to brighten instead of Vitamin C. Snail mucin also has a number of other benefits. It's worth a look.

For more multitasking and/or gentler products, you may want to consider Earth Harbor Mermaid Milk, Bliss Drench & Quench, or iNNBEAUTY Project Next Level Moisturizer. The INKEY List Vitamin B, C, and E Moisturizer is a great lower cost option too.
