I'm very new to alterous attraction. It's very hard for me to really... Get a grasp on, honestly? If you could try to explain it would be very appreciated. I hear it spoken about like a truly wonderful thing, but I don't even know what it means besides "the secret third thing" and beyond the platonic/romantic/sexual/aesthetic model I used

hi screaming-cricket !! if i’m being honest, i don’t really know how to explain it either, ahaha. i know that’s not very helpful, but it truly is something that is in a gray zone for myself and a lot of other people (although not all). to me, alterous attraction is something that is very distinctly it’s own thing: it doesn’t feel like something i would typically associate with platonic friendships, but they do not feel inherently romantic either. in fact, calling them romantic or forcing them into the romantic category makes me so uncomfortable. there is overlap though, for example, whenever i experience alterous or platonic attraction, i feel these things in both cases:

wanting to talk/call/video call with them 

looking forward to hang outs

thinking about how we both consider each other a friend is something that makes me happy 

happy after seeing them, sad when they are upset, wanting to see them grow and achieve their dreams and be the best version of themselves 

but there are also noticeable differences:

the level of emotional intimacy i want to achieve with an alterous ‘crush’ is different compared to platonic friendships. i want to know them inside out, and i want them to know me inside out too. i want to be the first person they turn to for support, and i want them to be that for me too. 

calling them my ‘best friend’ is amazing, but it doesn’t seem to fully encompass all i feel for them. calling them my boyfriend/girlfriend/etc., also doesn’t feel accurate, and in a lot of ways, it feels limiting and really uncomfortable. like i do care for them platonically, but that doesn’t feel right, but romantic doesn’t feel right either. 

the level of physical intimacy is also different. i want to be close to them, i imagine taking naps with them. i want to hold their hand. maybe, if i knew they thought about me in the same way, i’d be open to kissing them too. warning for sexual themes in the indented bulletpoints:

when it comes to someone i am alterously attracted to, i am more comfortable with experimentation sexually. that does not mean i am sexually attracted to them (i am also ace), but it’s more like... they make me feel comfortable to try to do those things purely for enjoyment or to feel closer to someone, as long as it’s taken the same way by both parties. 

there is also a desire for a more involved future: i wish they would stay with me in a committed partnership, i want to share a living space with them in the way traditional romantic partners do. i want to share my life in general with them more intimately. 

think of it like... i walk alongside my friends and even though we take different paths, we still converge. for those i am alterously attracted to, i want to do life with them, but hand in hand. i want to go where they go (metaphorically). i want to take those steps with them. now that doesnt mean i want to abandon my own goals, or expect (or want) them to do that for me, but i want the path we take to be closer than others. 

i know that a lot of people might take a look at these things and go ‘i’m okay with doing that with people i am platonically attracted to’ or ‘this is what i want when i am romantically attracted to someone’ and that’s okay !!! relationships are not ‘one size fits all’. all relationships look different. for me, this is as close as i can explain what it feels/means to me. to me, it is something completely outside the platonic/sexual/aesthetic/etc models. alterous is it’s own thing. and it’s confusing to explain but it all boils down to those different feelings. and if you’re wondering whether or not you feel this, i think i would suggest taking a deep breath and maybe even a step back. make a list, if that helps, about what you’d do with a friend vs a romantic partner, and try to make the boundaries as clear as possible. and then think ‘ have i done things that are a mix of both with someone? did our relationship feel different in a way i couldn’t quite pin down? something that is there but also seems not there at the same time?’. if so, you might be dealing with alterous attraction. 

this reply is getting really long, but i guess what i mean to say that it if people are vague about what it feels like, it’s because it is a vague feeling. it’s unique. by listen to your mind and body: does it feel right calling something alterous? does it make you feel happy, and relieved? that’s how i started when i was questioning and then the boundaries and stuff like that became more clear to me after that :3

Fully blindsided right now & still processing the situation as I type this

My employer of 4 years, who has always been honest with me (sometimes to a concerning degree) has just let me know quite suddenly that she does not have the money to pay me for my last 2 weeks of work.

.

It's not totally out of the blue, I knew the company was struggling in an expand-or-die sort of way, but she's been reassuring me for months that she had investors lined up etc etc and that she'd let me know well ahead of time if I needed to start looking for another job.

.

Timesheets for the second half of September were due on the 1st-- mine totaled up to nearly full time at 19/hr. Typically payroll goes through within a couple of days or we at least hear an update. Crickets.

My internet bill was due yesterday; the charge hit my closed bank account and bounced. I was barely expecting to be able to cover my existing overdue and anticipated expenses with the paycheck i believed was coming. I reached out via text to ask for an update:

I have in fact been looking for another job-- at least on the side to make me feel more secure and allow me to live more comfortably-- but no one wants a gardener in the winter, or a gardener who can't drive, for that matter, and I hadn't begun to start looking for the sort of work from home admin job she had me doing.

She's been like a weird family member to me for ages now, and yet she let me do all that work the last couple weeks, knowing she couldn't pay me for it, without saying a damn word. I have emails from her asking for me to do more for her as recently as yesterday. No mention of oh btw it's gonna be volunteer labor for now. I'm feeling heartbroken and betrayed; she was one of the few 'adult' figures in my life I genuinely felt I could count on.

I'll double down and figure something out-- but, in the meantime, I'm SO fucked and I really need your help. Please please at least reblog this for a boost, and if you have even an extra dollar I'd be tremendously grateful if you sent it my way.

Blog/Game Update! 12.27

Hey all (ｏ´・ε・｀ｏ)

Hope your holiday was great spent with your loved ones, yourself, furbabies, etc. <3 With the new year coming up I just want to give some highlights of what's to come with this blog!

-tumblr staff STILL has not answered me about my previous blog jazeswhbvault...and what's weird about it is that they flagged my Bimet event post which had 0 nudity in it....and I put in an appeal and it was fixed within a couple hours. And yet...crickets on my visibility for the fucking blog itself lol So it's safe to say this one will be my permanent one. I'm still keeping the old one up as none of the posts have been delted. I also downloaded all of the content in a backup zip file in case it does get deleted so I can repost them here.

-after I finish posting the last react posts for the past event, I will dedicate the rest of the week/year to responding to all of the requests/asks I've received including the ones on the old blog. I'll have them post on a time-based schedule so you won't see a huge influx all at once

-now for the game itself the admin of the WHB updates twitter sent in a long email for PB to answer and it sounds like there's some promise to look forward to in regards of Solomon seals, and other concerns players have had. for now, they have addressed that they are looking into giving us 500 seals per month without paying for them and looking for other ways for us to earn them. Now, for the lesser keys being used for a limited banner pull they mentioned the game's design makes it difficult for this to be possible and could take some time due to manpower/other factors. to me, that's understandable so I'm cool with the free seals per month because honestly I'd probably just save up on those anyway. There's more to be addressed, so I'll be tuning into that once the admin posts it. Source -> Boom, click here

-i also would like to thank all players who are being generous in sharing content they've unlocked in the cards, chats, just anything. for someone who is a f2p,budget gacha person who just loves writing content and headcanons this is very helpful and keeps me in the know so I won't have outdated info for my requests/fics to go off of.

Totally awesome being a co-admin of a roleplay group where all of the members have formed a clique that you're not part of, and any time you try to start something or do anything, its either crickets or they totally hijack it and push you to the side with no regard, and then they wonder why you don't want to hang out with them more. I don't know, maybe because you've relegated me to " background character" whose only purpose is to be your audience? Sorry but I'm not here to be your supporting cast. I can see why other people left complaining about feeling left out. Ironically, those were the only people who seemed to actually give a damn about interacting with me.

Tom Wills - known menace to cricket admin despite being an absolute gun of a player - and his mates were bored and wanted something to play. the distinction between "rugby" and "soccer" didn't really exist yet so when people talked about "football" you could've been talking about anything. Cricket clubs legitimately hated it because football on the hallowed cricket grounds is a recipe for ruin, but then they saw the (metric) shit-ton of money that ticket sales made and decided to cop some of the profit for fixing the turf.

Two of the french streamers have publically said something. One also said they weren't asked about good times for events to be held and when they asked why tomorrows event is at 3/4am (for europeans) admins didn't respond and later simply apologised. Another said it's annoying to have lore events where the french can't be there.

Plus, Etoiles makes constant jokes about the timezone stuff.

It's frustrating because this is ongoing issue and it's been promised multiple times that events will be european friendly but it's not happened. Also some non french ccs live in europe and have been excluded from events before

i just remember seeing etoiles on twt complaining about the last event he couldn't take part in. again. and q actually responded and everyone said they'd work together to find a way to be inclusive and yet crickets.....like idk man if you're running an smp with people from around the world you'd think you'd be able to host multiple events with different times rather than catering everything to your own timezone ?

I work at pat smert with and, with much emphasis, I hate this fucking store. I feel like I am constantly being told that I'm doing something wrong, or there's some other thing I have to badger people about, coupon books, sign-ups, surveys, training classes, ect., ect. I hate it. I feel more like a used car salesman than a cashier. I was told I'd get to learn pet care weeks ago, nope. Ive been here longer than damn near everyone out on the floor. Still only know how to grab crickets. We have a massive theft issue, and now all the cashiers are being told to pull everything out of the cart and to scan pet food cans one by one, meanwhile we usually have 1 fucking cashier at any given point (me) and I'm expected to do this while greeting everyone, peddling crap, keeping an eye on the pickup shelf and flea cabinets, keeping an eye on the actual pickup app, badgering my coworkers about said pickups, badgering my coworkers about fish and crickets, and trying to do different tasks in between customers. I can't even fucking call for backup because there's a grand total of 3 people here, one of whom has their own line over at fish and bugs and the other who is usually a lower manager trying to fix some other catastrophe going on in the store. ON top of this I make the exact same amount as the people who literally just got hired. Like. I'm not even describing a holiday. Corporate keeps cutting hours, getting mad that shit isn't done quickly or correctly, and then cuts more hours an expects that to fix it. Nope! I'm staying long enough to get my vacation that I have planned, and then i'm bouncing, it's not worth the stress.
