Reasons Discord's New Mobile Layout Update is Bad

The reply function is redundant, as most people are used to just holding down and tapping the reply option at the top. If they're going to change it, they shouldn't have gotten rid of the member list for this functionally bad option. It also doesnt line up with any other platform in terms of swipe direction.

The member list is gone from easy viewing

It doesnt auto open your last group chat/DM making multiple simultaneous conversations far more difficult and longer

It's already broken my app once (Locked all channels including other servers' to one channel. I could not access anything except that and my DMs.)

You can not see images that have been pinned in the pins tab.

The search function was fine before. Where did your before, during and after date search go??

All of Discord's individuality is disappearing.

Getting used to a mobile format actually impedes usage of the desktop format and likely discourages people from multiplatforming discord because theyre so used to the "intuitiveness" of the new "tailored for mobile" experience

Discord’s new layout is apparently permanent. Keep sending feedback and rating it one star on all appstores; if you get redirected to the advice article, double tap gove feedback.

If you, too, dislike the theme, head to settings (you can double tap your account picture) and go to Appearance, scroll to New Layout and Send Feedback.

Overall, what they've done is disorientate every single current user on discord, and you cannot avoid it unless you've not updated to the latest discord because this is not an update. It is a feature that has already been on the latest update and is being slowly rolled out, like Tumblr Polls.

Good Luck, and may we send as much feedback as possible and have them make it optional or at the least, revert it. I've already sent in at least seven complaints to discord, commented on their instagram post about the layout and I'm about one star review it on google play and app store.

This isnt just the appearance and vibes being off like the new (ish) app icon, this is a matter of functionality.

“Okay, okay you got me. Settle down, Rookie Cookie.” Rookie Cookie eagerly sits down as their eyes gleamed with excitement. “Now it all began like this…”

Her glowing powder blue eyes stare directly at your smaller form, as you walked towards her palm as you two were now face to face. “What you’re going to plead for your pathetic life to be spared, if so how presumptuous of you…” You swallowed your fear back as you ignored Captain Caviar Cookie and Candy Diver Cookie’s pleas for you to stop what you were doing.

“No, no… I won’t do that, instead I’d like to propose something…” Her eyes light up with intrigue as a menacing smile makes its way onto her lips. “Go on, amuse me…”

“I’d like to make a promise of sorts, you seem…isolated and perhaps you’d prefer it that way. Though I’d like to keep you company, in return I’ll order that no one be allowed to attack you or your home.” Your hands were clammy as you looked up and offered her your hand.

“So-Sound like a deal? Will you let them go?” She pondered and a flash of a softened gaze. “You… Would be willing to stay away from all who cherish you…” Captain Caviar Cookie was trying to pull you away from a binding promise. But you’ve made your stance clear. This way is the only option to keep your friends and people safe. “Yes, you have my word…” She grins and it seems to convince her. “Done. Now bid your friends farewell, if you even dare break this promise. Both you and your people will pay for your crimes…” She threatened as you sank to your knees as Captain Caviar Cookie hugged you tightly, his warmth engulfing your fear-ridden state.

Candy Diver Cookie joins the hug as they both promise to help you escape, you interjected. “No stop, that won’t help either of us. Just tell Oyster Cookie what happened and fill her in on my orders. You may be strong, but please let me do this…” His eyes stare back at you as he sighs knowing you’re not backing down. “Alright, I’ll let her know, just promise us that you’ll be safe.” You nodded as you bid them farewell, watching their submarine disappear into the inky depths.

You turn around to face her as she shrinks down to your size as you sink down, Black Pearl Cookie swims to your aid. Pulling a shimmery scale from her tail and pressing it against your lips. “Swallowing this will allow you to swim underwater, it’d be a shame to let your dough get soggy.” Black Pearl Cookie informed you, opening your mouth and swallowing the scale.

“I’m curious, how come you’re here now?” Rookie Cookie asked as you answered. “She loosened the reins a bit, albeit it took a bit of patience, but long story short I’m allowed to be on land for about six months. The other six months I’m at the sea with her.”

“Does it get lonely?” You shook your head at their question. “At first yes, but after spending time with and away from her. I don’t feel alone with her, if anything I feel a bit lonely without her.” Rookie Cookie nods as they try to comprehend your words.

“Maybe someday… One day, we can walk on land together, but I highly doubt that. But it doesn't hurt to dream about it.” You realized you were getting sidetracked and decided to return to your tale.

“Now where was I..? Oh yeah, let’s continue!” Rookie Cookie sat down as you cleared your throat.

The first couple weeks with her were a bit awkward, as she usually was relaxing. You imagined her being somewhat of an adrenaline junkie. But that was far from that, Black Pearl Cookie often took you with her to explore the sunken ships. Asking you if you’re familiar enough with what these ships held and their origins.

Soon a new face appears before the two of you, a bubbly shark mermaid. They introduced themself as Shark Sorbet Cookie and had a wish they wanted granted. “Such a lively kid…” You had to wonder if Black Pearl Cookie was capable of other things.

Learning just enough to understand her on a surface level, but not enough to truly grasp who she is underneath her wrathful and sadistic persona.

Black Pearl Cookie, the monster of the Black Pearl Island. You just didn’t believe that version of her was even true.

Her eyes glimmered with intrigue, she urged Shark Sorbet Cookie to ask for their wish. “You wish to walk on land that can be arranged…” Black Pearl Cookie outlines the deal as you stand beside her. Watching the scene unfold as your mind wanders a bit, hoping you’ll finally understand her.

Weeks turned into months, the two were out exploring again as per usual. It was now a routine to see what you two could find. You found a sea glass chunk that shimmered an iridescent color. From blue to green, with little chunks of glitter, you took it with you and swiped a piece of string and got to work. Black Pearl Cookie anxiously awaited for you with a book in her hands.

Her tail waved nervously as she questioned when was the last time she’d ever felt this way. For a land cookie no less, she recalls those times she’d ask you to entertain her. Black Pearl Cookie had to admit you were an excellent storyteller and your voice was soothing to her.

Her heart started to skip a beat or two, her fin ears fluttered and her thoughts ran wild. Pushing away the darkest thoughts and replacing it with the times you’ve held her hand. Rested in the same bed as her, even the gifts you’ve crafted for her. It was worth more than the troves of treasure that have been sunken down here.

“This feeling… I thought I was never going to feel this way ever again…” Her clawed hand is placed over where her heart should be. She soon hears her name. As she sees you swimming excitedly to her. “Black Pearl Cookie!! Close your eyes!”

She raises a brow at you. “How come?” Her eyes see that you’ve got something behind your back. Your smile was oddly infectious, it was bright and warm like the sun.

Black Pearl Cookie couldn’t help, but be attracted to that sweet warmth. You’ve made her feel like she was everything. Even when she’d set up walls to impede your progress and stop herself from these feelings. You somehow melted them away.

Rookie Cookie gushed at how you’ve melted the icy cold mermaid’s heart. Eager to hear the story to its end.

Your eyes wander towards the clock and widen with shock. “Oh shoot! Sorry Rookie Cookie, I’ll wrap up the story another time! Black Pearl Cookie is waiting for me!” You hurriedly exited the room as Rookie Cookie followed you, not wanting the ship to sail without you.

In a stroke of luck, you were right on time. You crouch down to meet Rookie Cookie at eye level. “Promise to tell me the rest of the story, when you come back?” You hummed and held out your pinky finger towards them. “Will do, it’d be a shame to leave you on a cliffhanger for too long.”

Rookie Cookie laughed as you both locked pinky fingers together, finalizing the promise. With a quick final hug, you headed to the ship as it sailed towards Black Pearl Island.

You’ve reached your destination as you bid the crew farewell, you hopped into the ocean. Holding your necessities and gifts as tight as you can as the water engulfs you.

Your scales scattered across your skin as your legs became the typical mermaid fin. You swam around, calling out for Black Pearl Cookie. Unaware she was behind you as you see a large shadow behind you. “Gah! Black Pearl Cookie!”

She merely giggled at your shock ridden face, returning to her usual size. “Welcome back, my dear…” She purred as she cups your cheeks, peppering kisses all over your face. “How’ve you been?”

She sighs merely telling you how bored she was, fiddling with the sea glass necklace around her neck. “I bet… Oh I’ve brought you some gifts!” You chirped as you happily reached into your satchel and fished out a couple books. Stories and myths from your homeland. Black Pearl Cookie smiled softly, eagerly awaiting to read them.

She holds your hand and glances at your ring finger, the black pearl band still snuggly safe around it. It makes her heart bubble with unbridled joy. Knowing even when you two were apart, the gifts you’ve given each other were physical reminders of the love you two shared.

Black Pearl Cookie was certain, you’re the one for her and knew you felt the same. She softly kisses the ring on your finger, causing your heart to race. Black Pearl Cookie giggles at your lovestruck expression.

You place a kiss on her cheek, her ears flutter happily. Both of you smiled at each other, ready to spend the next six months with each other again. Enjoying the mundane and exciting moments together.

Hi! I download your newest Photoshop 2024 two nights ago, and it's saying there is only a 5 day grace period before it uninstalls itself if I don't license it. I thought this was meant to be free, so did something happen when the file was created or did I misunderstand what is going on with this?

Hi there!! My apologies for posting this publicly, instead of answering you privately, but I just want to be able to make sure that if anyone else runs into this issue, that they easily have access to the fix. Now, this hasn't happened to me at present after numerous days of consistent use, nor have I heard of anyone else running into it, but I am aware that it can happen, but the fix is actually quite simple (I had to do this for a previous version). Okay, this involves a little bit of navigating and tinkering in Windows, but I'll run you through it, don't worry.

In essence what happened is that Photoshop was able to connect to the Adobe servers, where it verified itself through an automated process, and realized it wasn't quite activated yet. This is nothing concerning, and is something that us little pirates have had to deal with for years without any issue at the backhand. So the simple, very old, and private solution to this is to not let Photoshop connect to the internet at all (this will not limit it in any way), and accomplishing that is simple enough. Before you go through these steps however, please uninstall Photoshop, and reinstall it (ideally in a slightly different location, even if it's in a subfolder.) After that, here, let me run you through the steps!

Step 1. Do a search for 'Windows Defender', and click 'Windows Defender Firewall' when it pops up as a search result. When the window pops up, navigate to the left-hand side and select 'Advanced settings', like below:

Step 2. In the new window, click 'Outbound rules' to the left-hand side, and then 'New rule' on the right-hand side immediately after:

Step 3. Another window will pop up, and in the options given to you, select 'Program', and then, do you remember when you first installed Photoshop? Navigate to that folder, and you'll find the according application file called 'Photoshop' with its usual little icon on the left. To help you, the default path (where I have it installed) is as shown underneath, including the file you should select:

Step 4. Select the file, hit 'Open' in the bottom-right, hit 'Next', and make sure that you then select 'Block this connection'. On the next screen, it'll ask you when the rule should be applied and all options should be checked, if they are not, be sure to check them. You can name this rule however you want on the next screen, it won't matter! Hit 'Finish', and all should be fine from hereon out!

Guys Divorcesteal is really good in a way that's destroying my sleep schedule!

Divorcesteal is a Minecraft SMP made by fans of the Lifesteal SMP (including a couple of my friends) with similar mechanics and more gay divorce.

On the server killing another player takes a heart from their healthbar and gives it to you. Which means you can only lose so many fights in a row before you're on zero and get banned. So you need to spend a bunch of resources either crafting new hearts or reviving dead players.

But unlike Lifesteal these aren't some of the best and sweatiest Minecraft PvPers in the world, they're… tumblr fandom dweebs. Which means there are fun fights, but mostly there's psychosexual torment, angst, and queerbaiting. Roleplay is king with everyone playing at least a heightened version of themselves, and so falling in love getting married and having an angry divorce is often a more significant kind of plotline than the combat.

But the really fun things from a viewer pov is the roleplay is just as competitive as the combat. Characters in the story keep secrets to advance their agendas, which means the players keep secrets from the other players. Because many people livestream their perspective or record it for youtube this means strict no stream-sniping rules. Players can't watch streams/videos marked :3 without permission and fans are told not to leak what they see.

Which is great!!! Because it means i get to talk to my good friend Will and say I'm so excited to see the next stream! And tell everyone else that I'm excited because :3 I know that next stream the person she trusts most on the server is going to murder her, which Will doesn't know!

The macro scale plot atm is the season ends in 2 weeks and various teams are firing off their endgame plans. Pathogen are building monumental architecture for obscure and sinister purposes. 1000 Suns formed with the plan of escaping to the End dimension and blocking access to it using advanced chunk banning tech so they could be safe. Pathogen found out by misc sneaky shit and they moved first. So now the server has no End portals at all and the whole dimension is inaccessible.

I'm currently fixated on Will's smaller team/polycule called Elysium, with Angel and ChipsEclipse. Will had secretly planned to join 1000 Suns in the End, but due to a combination of irl timing issues and personal (in character) beef it wasn't clear if Chips would be welcome. The plan became impossible due to not having an End to run away to, at which point Chips found out, felt hurt and abandoned, and decided to betray the team by joining pathogen and killing Will and Angel. Hence the :3 situation on Tuesday.

But of course being fucked up tumblr/ao3 kids everyone has decided to yes-and this situation to produce even more heartbreak and angst. Especially from the pov of Angel who wasn't involved in the murdering but was in the polycule and remains in love with both of them!

Happy Spooky Season, everyone! The first Saturday of October is this Saturday, which means it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, Verdant Shield [VS]! And this time we'll be doing something a little special for the season: instead of having our Halloween-themed party in November while the actual festival is running, we'll instead be taking over the Godslost Swamp (and beating Shadow Behemoth into submission a few times) for an extra spooky themed party! Bring your best Halloween costumes, your edgiest edgelords, or just your regular old selves - it's party time!

For those who aren’t familiar with art parties, they’re a concept carried over from Final Fantasy XIV - in-game get-togethers for artists/writers/creatives of all types to hang out, chat, and create together! Get your favorite character/look together, head to the location, find someone that catches your eye, and create! Afterwards, everyone posts their creations in a shared tag (ours is #VSArtParty) so others can see, interact, and share! Tl;dr: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!

Location Information:

Godslost Swamp was chosen for being easily-accessible and appropriately Halloweeny, but also a little bit because I want to shake things up in terms of what actually happens during said parties. We've been in areas where the occasional enemy spawned on top of us before, but this time we'll be set up right in the middle of a world boss, with 2 spawn times occurring during each party. So, come armed and ready to rumble, and play nice with the non-partygoers who'll inevitably show up!

Time & Squad Details:

As we always do, we’ll be having two parties - one on EU servers and one on NA ones - with an hour break in between. People tend to arrive early and/or jump between accounts as soon as the break comes up, so don’t be surprised to see tags and announcements going up ahead of schedule!

My thoughts regarding this are threefold:

First: it is important to understand the class character of any given institution, the failure to do so leads to errors. A common 'left' error is in attributing the negative aspects of an institution under capitalism to the institution itself, without understanding its capitalist character. An example would be the characterisation of the police as fundamentally an agent of repressing the people (when under socialism they are an agent of the people for repression of the bourgeois), or of the academy as fundamentally an arbiter of class access to certain roles in society (when under socialism it is straightforwardly an educator and enabler of technically-skilled labour). To some degree the abuses of the pornography industry are, doubtlessly, down to the social context it exists in, and in the exploitation of (lumpen)proletarians engaged in sex work.

Second: a vulgar 'proletarian feminism' which avoids this class analysis inevitably also commits the same ignorance of class in the opposite direction, and commits rightist errors. Commonly, in the advocating of an alliance with the bourgeois state and bourgeois police to 'protect women' - by criminalising one or the other aspect of sex work under capitalism. The status of sex workers as proletarians, and, when criminalised as such, lumpenproletarians, is essentially ignored. It must be understood that first and foremost the issue of sex work is a labour issue, and like any labour issue it can only be solved by the self-organisation and self-emancipation of the workers themselves.

Third: the categorisation of pornography as specifically an issue of the commodification and exploitation of women (as above) breaks down in the contexts of both male pornography and amateur pornography. Male pornography clearly does not involve the commodification of women (though it does involve the exploitation of sex workers!); and amateur pornography, produced, as it were 'as an expression of one's own nature', and removed from any valorisation of capital, clearly involves no commodification at all.

Generally it has been the case that socialist states have banned pornography and sex work once established. Sex workers who found themselves now unemployed under socialism were not, as in capitalism, made even more desperate and destitute - rather, they were happily able to take up other fields of guaranteed work. However, socialist states were generally established in impoverished, semifeudal nations, where the conditions of sex work were uniformly that of sexual slavery and prostitution. In the most culturally advanced socialist state, the German Democratic Republic, restrictions on pornography were much more lax. Certainly, the conditions of a modern, developed nation would have a major impact on the treatment of pornography under socialism.

Vick slowly raised both hands, as if surrendering to the threat of your gun, but he kept smiling with that arrogant confidence that had always characterized him.

"Easy, Scarlet Lady," he said in a low voice, almost mockingly. "I didn’t come to ruin your operation. Just wanted to see if you still had your style. And damn, you do."

Your hand was steady, finger on the trigger, but something inside you knew you weren’t going to shoot. Not yet. He was an annoying adversary, sure, but also a useful informant when he wanted to be. Sometimes too useful.

"What are you doing here, Vick? Who sent you?" you asked harshly, not lowering your weapon.

"Let’s just say… our goals are aligned, for now." He lowered his hands and started walking toward one of the terminals without asking for permission, as if you weren’t pointing a gun at him. "I want that information too. But not for the NSS or any corrupt government."

"Then who for?" you shot back, eyes tracking him like a hawk.

"For me." He shrugged. "You have your reasons. I have mine. But if we collaborate, we might both get what we want without leaving bodies behind."

"And if I don’t want to collaborate?" The threat in your voice hung like a sharp needle.

"Then one of us dies here, in this quiet bunker, and the other escapes with everything. It wouldn’t be the first time we played this game."

He stopped in front of a console, turning the screen on with a few commands he seemed to have memorized. That caught your attention. He knew more than he was letting on.

"How did you get in?" you demanded, more than asked.

"Through the front door," he replied with a smile, not looking at you. "Of course, using another face."

That only confirmed your suspicions. You weren’t dealing with just any intruder. Vick was as slippery as you—maybe even more. Years of espionage, betrayals, and covert missions had made him unpredictable.

You pressed your lips together and slowly lowered your gun. Reluctantly.

"Five minutes," you warned. "After that, you’re out. I don’t want to see you when the file transfer starts."

"How generous," he mocked, glancing sideways at you. "Always so professional."

"And you always so unbearable."

While he worked at the terminal, you moved silently around the room, checking for other access points or traps. The walls were lined with touch panels, some of which opened with a simple tap, revealing racks full of servers and classified files. Everything was more sophisticated than you expected.

Suddenly, a silent alarm flashed red in the corner of the screen Vick was using.

"What did you do?" you asked, spinning around.

"Nothing I wasn’t supposed to. But I think I just triggered an emergency protocol. We’ve got less than three minutes before reinforcements arrive."

"Damn you!" you exclaimed, rushing to the console and shoving him aside. "I told you not to mess this up."

"Relax, we can still get out of here. But you better run like old times."

You bit your lower lip in frustration while activating the rapid transfer system. The data began copying onto your external device, but the percentage advanced at a maddeningly slow pace.

"Come on, come on…" you muttered, clenching your fists.

From the hallway, you could already hear the guards’ footsteps—fast, coordinated. They were close. Too close.

And you weren’t done yet.

"Get ready to fight," you said without looking at him.

"With you or against you?" Vick asked, smiling as he pulled out his combat knife.

"For now… with me. But don’t let your guard down."

"I never do, sweetheart."

And with that, the two of you turned toward the door. The sound of boots grew louder. Lights started to flicker. Time was running out. And the battle was about to begin.

The guards burst into the room like a stampede, weapons ready, their shouts filling the air. But you and Vick were no longer just spies on a mission: you were a silent storm, a lethal choreography of precision and strength.

You slid under a table while firing your mini pistol, knocking out the first guard with a stun dart straight to the neck. Vick lunged at another with agile, almost elegant movements, twirling his knife between his fingers before disarming him and knocking him out with a single sharp blow to the chin.

One tried to catch you from behind, but Vick, alert, intercepted him, rolling across the floor with you just in time to dodge a burst of bullets. You ended up pressed against each other, breathing the same air in an eternal second, the world slowing around you.

"We always end up like this," he whispered with a breathless grin.

"That’s because you’re always a mess," you replied, though your tone lacked its usual edge. In fact, it trembled a little… like your lips.

The fight went on, but every enemy who approached fell like flies. You were fast and precise, and Vick, brutally graceful. Together, you were unstoppable. When the last guard hit the floor with a dull groan, the room was filled with a near-sacred silence.

Both of you were panting, drenched in sweat, bodies tense, but eyes locked onto each other. The transfer device beeped. Data complete.

"You did it," Vick said, stepping closer, still watching you.

"We did it," you corrected, lowering your weapon slowly.

The tension between you wasn’t new. It had always been there, since the first time you clashed during a failed mission in Prague. Since the second time he saved your life when he shouldn’t have. Since the third time you said you’d never trust him again—yet did anyway.

He took one step closer, and you didn’t back away. Your trembling fingers unfastened the belt of your suit, now unnecessary. The distance shrank. The panting turned into soft breaths.

"It was always you, Y/n," Vick murmured, voice deep and rough.

"And you were always an idiot for taking so long to say it," you replied.

There were no more words. None were needed.

Your lips met his in a kiss that exploded with all the rage, tension, desire, and unspoken history between you. It was a collision of broken pasts and uncertain futures. Your fingers tangled in his hair as he held your waist like he feared you’d vanish into smoke. The world faded, leaving only the two of you—among stolen data, fallen enemies, and a connection as dangerous as it was inevitable.

As you slowly pulled away, breaths still ragged, your eyes remained locked. No words were necessary, but still, you broke the silence.

"I’m not going to ask why you’re here… not yet."

"And I won’t lie to you," Vick said, brushing his fingers along your jaw. "But if you let me… I’ll explain everything. This time, no half-truths."

You hesitated for a second, but his eyes… that transparent, tired gaze, full of everything left unsaid for so long, was enough. You nodded slowly, lowering your gun completely.

"Let’s get out of here."

The walk was quiet, almost melancholic. At some point, Vick took your hand without saying a word—and you didn’t let go. You headed to a discreet hotel on the outskirts of the city, far from the noise, far from everything you were during your missions: cold, lethal, distant. Here, you were just two tired people, with broken souls, who had found each other once again.

The room was warm, with soft lighting and a wide bed that invited rest. As soon as the door closed, your lips met again—this time with more calm, more hunger. Your hands explored, memorized, remembered what you had longed for but never allowed yourselves to have.

Vick slowly undressed you from your latex catsuit, as if disarming you was an intimate act and not part of protocol. You helped him remove his jacket, sliding it off his shoulders while kissing his neck, feeling his skin shiver beneath your lips.

The movements were slow, almost reverent. He looked at you like you were a sacred secret. You touched him like you feared he might vanish with the dawn.

When you were finally skin to skin, there were only whispers and caresses. Vick held you as if you were fragile, and you returned every gesture with the same care. You made love without haste, as if the night was endless, as if your bodies spoke what your hearts could not.

Afterwards, tangled in the sheets, he rested his head on your chest, breathing peacefully for the first time in a long while. You ran your fingers through his hair in silence, remembering the time you said you’d never trust him again.

And yet, here he was. With you.

"Can I stay this time?" he whispered, barely audible.

"Only if you promise not to disappear when the sun rises," you said, kissing his forehead.

And he nodded, closing his eyes as your warmth surrounded him.

That night, finally, you were no longer enemies, allies, or spies. Just two souls, finding each other in the midst of chaos… at last.

Shout out to the people for whom Witchcraft and the Gods totally fucking suck sometimes

A few years ago, I was being mocked in a Discord server by someone who believed that if I was having a difficult relationship with my primary god, then that was my fault and I needed to "be better."

He's a god of Witchcraft, I tried to say. He's the Folkloric Devil. He can be an asshole. Sometimes, working with him is very difficult.

The person implied it was a phase and that they hoped I "figured it out" because the gods would ~*nEvEr*~ ever behave as complete cunts.

Sigh.

I see great posts around. "Witchcraft isn't supposed to be stressful! Witchcraft shouldn't give you anxiety! If you don't like your witchcraft, stop doing it! Change it!"

It's a great message, in general. But what if you can't? What if you shouldn't?

I see these support posts side-by-side with posts like, "where is all the advanced witchcraft? People should post more of their path!"

I hate to say it out loud and in such a boorish way, but a lot of the time, "advanced witchcraft" is tedious. It's a chore. It's making pacts that you can't back out of, that become burdensome responsibilities.

(Not trying to get into a discussion about what constitutes "advanced witchcraft" so I'm going to stop using that term)

There are a lot of people out there who are now bound to paths that they don't really like, didn't intend to become a part of, are having difficulty changing, or who are going through a phase where everything fucking sucks, but they are still dedicated to seeing it through to the end.

So, anyway. If you feel the gods have betrayed you, if you feel trapped in your practice, if you feel exhausted by the responsibilities you have taken upon yourself, if you feel like things are being taken away from you, if your Craft feels like a chore: you are not alone.

And from time to time I get really burned out on posts that seek to make witchcraft and the gods so accessible for beginners that anything that gets a tiny bit serious, or tedious, or burdensome, or scary, is erased. And called fearmongering. Or called gatekeeping.

I think it would just be nice for time to time that people who are not beginners, and who are struggling, also get community support. And not erased or shut down just because their lived experiences might be scary to a hypothetical beginner.

Im bad at writing coherent things but I need to get this concept out of my head so it stops haunting me.

I had this idea for another fic called The Undine Colony.

The setting would be the second colony by the sea- started when Sol is in their forties- the story taking place an unknown time after that.

It starts with the alarm that the original Stratospheric colony has gone silent. Collapsed all its networks, killed every signal, spirited away every colonist. As it still houses much of humanity's most advanced tech, like the servers for their holonet, essential parts of the power grid, this is an issue of extreme urgency.

And who better to turn to in their moment of need than Sol? So here they are suddenly jolted into wakefulness.

Their first thought is that they cannot feel their body. They quickly learn they are not in fact the real Sol, but only an AI copy made of their brain-scan from many decades ago. Though they cannot access the future vision as an ephemeral bit of software, they have superior computing on their side.

The gist of it being that AI Sol is now in charge of the 2nd colony to replace the hole left by Congruence, all while being tasked to figure out whats happening to the og colony & trying to reestablish contact. Aaand trying to piece together their own existence on top of it. Trying to find out what even happened to the original Sol. If they have something to do with this blackout.

So yeah, itd be slowly unfurling that mystery, piecing together the gap in their memory & issues of personhood.

A breakdown of apps you can use to communicate with your alters as separate people and write down information about them online and offline with their pros, cons, and a personal rating because I really needed it when I was new to being a system:

Note: by "PC" I mean any computer/macbook/etc. By "all devices" I mean PC, mobile, tablet, iPad, etc.

I apologize for mistakes in advance.

1. Antar: An app created to chat with your "inner self," found in both Play Store and AppStore. One of the more popular ones among systems. It is an app where you get to create personas that would be chatting with each other in chats called "sessions." Those sessions can either be given a name or just left named after the date they were created on. Each persona is given a color that would become the color of their messages in sessions. Offline app.

Pros: Fiarly easy to use, no in-depth information needed to access it fully. Biometric lock; 4 languages (English, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish) for the system, however any language can be used via text; no limit to the amount of personas added (as far as I'm aware). Messages sent by the wrong persona can be changed; the "quote" feature allows you to start a thread under a message; provides descriptions of each persona. You can also give your personas an avatar rather than just a color. Has a "replay" and "visualization" feature, though I'd say it's strictly just for funzies.

Cons: Not available on PC; has no backup, phone-related resets or deletion of the app results in all information lost. Session order constantly changes depending on which senssion you entered, which in my opinion (+OCD) is a nuisance; you can't delete the "me" character which I've been wanting to do for a while. Can't add hexcodes.

Personal rating: 6/10. If you need an app that you can lock from unwanted visitors, if you don't mind and even prefer something simple, and if you don't care that the conversations might disappear, this app is a good choice.

2. Discord's PluralKit: A more avdanced discord bot with tons of settings and commands that was created specifically for systems. Allows you to add almost any information about your system memebers, even such things as birthdays. The way it works is, it "proxies" your messages with a certain command somewhere in the "normal" message, sends a message identical to yours from a bot created with the name you chose, and deletes your original message. Basically replaces a message from your account with a message from a bot you created earlier. Proxies are small commands that give the both a green light to do that, and they can be whatever you want them to be. Online bot.

Pros: Feels like different people are talking; allows you to track your switches; available on all devices; one system can be linked to multiple accounts, although you can't create multiple systems under one account; allows you to group alters together; allows you to restrict access to certain information from all users; allows you to add as many alters as you want; has a number of ways you can access the information you put in which would all be sorted and organized for you; autoproxy allows you to not proxy every message you sent; since you can't delete messages of other people on servers that are not yours, and the bot messages are not, in fact, yours, PluralKit allows you to react to the message with an emoji that deletes the proxied message; while you can't use it in DMs, you can set up commands in DMs with the bot; every memeber has a unique code, and so does the system itself, and it records when the member was created; can be exported to SimplyPlural.

Cons: Commands are difficult and complex, and so is the dashboard; can only be used on servers; sometimes offline as all bots are, though rarely; you can't use it anywhere outside discord (a con for those who don't use discord); I had instances where I saw people use it for roleplay which is also allowed; proxies are a pain; you'd need a guide to tell you why certain things are needed in it; you cannot reply to messages with gifs when using a proxy; when being exported to SimplyPlural it exports everything, so if you had 10 members on SimplyPlural and 15 on PluralKit, it's best to add those 5 manually than delete 10 new exported alters (I did it with 100+ alters by accident and it was a pain).

Personal rating: 9/10. Complex, difficult to figure out, but once you get ahold of it and how it works, you'd be amazed. Also a pain that you can't use it in DMs, but it's to be expected from a bot. And you can always create a server with just you.

3. Discord's Tupperbox: A discord bot created mainly for roleplay, but actively used by systems who cannot get along with PluralKit. A simpler bot, easy to use and figure out, most things can be done via dashboard, doesn't have the opportunity to add a lot of inofrmation. Online bot.

Pros: Simple; allows grouping alters; allows different tags for different members and groups, sometimes individually; way simpler commands, and most things can be added via dashboard; looks and works almost the same as PluralKit when in a conversation; available on all devices.

Cons: Can't add avatars via dashboard, only using the commands; can't add two alters with the same name (which you can do with PluralKit); people reported it glitching out and deleting members; mainly used for roleplay; gives a weird list of members via commands that is unusable in my experience; doesn't work out of discord.

Personal rating: 7/10. Perfect for people who just want to talk and not write down information about them with the bot, but the threat of members being deleted, especially as a larger system, is concerning. We mainly use it for OSDD-1a subsystems. It was also not created for systems, as far as I'm aware. I see more cons than pros.

4. Simply Plural: Another more well-known tool used and created for systems. Simply Plural is an app that allows you to create profiles of your members and add any information you'd like about them via custom fields. It has a chat feature, allows you to track your front and switch history, add friends, and many more. Supports endogenic systems (which is being mentioned not for discorse purposes but as a fact. Whether you find it good or not is up to you) and allows singlets to create profiles as well, although I don't know a lot about that part. Both offline and online app.

Pros (and a bit about the app): Backup included; tracks your switches and front, allows you to change exact time for them, too (24-hour clock down to minutes included); the polls feature works like polls on same Tumblr and everywhere else but specifically for your system memebrs; analytics provide information about who fronts the most, during what time of day they usually front; you and your friends can see each other's profiles, which is why singlets can also create profiles, which allows you to acces info about each other's systems; "trusted people" feature allows you to pick whether you want everybody to see your alters or not, or if you want outsiders to see your profile at all; provides resources and guides to plurality (which I personally haven't checked, but still putting it in the pros, if somebody thinks I shouldn't, let me know); has an app reminders feature; you can add as much information as you want; front history shows up in a person's profile; alters can add notes; alter groups are available; available on all devices, however, only as a website on PC; colors of your alters can be used in the chat to highlight names; hexcodes are available; "custom front" is a status you set with fronting which can be hilarious sometimes; connects to PluralKit in a number of ways.

Cons: The chat feature is a bit difficult to use, and first time I did, I freaked out because I couldn't get out of it (the trick is to go to "channels" and press "navigation", there you'll see the dashboard); friends can't communicate with each other; copy-pasting is hard on both mobile and PC; something about the interface and navigation irks me and our visually impaired self; notes have same visibility as the profile itself, which is inconvenient if you want your profile to be seen but not your notes; avatars can't be added via website.

Personal rating: 6/10. I don't like how it looks and works (probably due to being visually impaired and other issues), but if you manage to get the information in it, it's pretty accessible and thoughtful of what systems might need. Could be used as a tool to start working with your system rather than do it long-term.

5. Twinote: An app that is your "personal Twitter." Pretty sure it was created for the purpose of having fun rather communicating with alters. Offline app.

Pros: Backup provided; allows "private accounts" that other "users" can't see; can create as many users as you want, as many posts as you want; can upload up to 4 images; works almost like Twitter; has a chat feature; comments, retweets, likes are present; "lists" feature allows you to group users and see only their messages which could be used for "things only protectors sent" and such; storage shows all pictures used in the app, so you won't lose anything; tagging and following people is still an option, and following private accounts give that user an opportunity to be the only one seeing their tweets.

Cons: Can't upload videos; can't do much with anything other than posts and profiles, so trends and other stuff there is off-limits (as far as I know); you have to constantly switch between profiles for the chat feature; share button only shares the contents of the message; very easy to accidentally press the wrong button and delete a tweet by dragging it left (which I almost did a few times).

Personal rating: 7,5/10. I know it's probably annoying that I didn't just type either 7 or 8, but the reaosn why is cause I have mixed feelings about it from a practical point of view. We use it strictly to communicate what we did during the day as a small journal and just joke with each other, and it's incredibly funny in itself, but it doesn't allow you to write down a lot of information about your alters and has a character limit in profiles. So it's strictly for communication.

6. Notion: An app created as a dashboard for literally everything you could ever dream of. You can personalize it however you want and use it for whatever you want. Those who saw the post we made a while ago probably know the reason I'm mentioning it is due to a template that I linked here. Online app.

Pros: Can be used for literally everything without limits; available on all devices; big and has enough storage for a lot of information, text, projects, etc; can be designed however you want; a lot of useful templates for all life instances (even taxes); can be shared with people who also use Notion in a variety of ways (either only comment, only see, etc); can add your own custom covers and icons via both gallery and links; looks neat and doesn't mess with visual impairment for us; can add a page in a page in a page which can be used for diaries; links to different pages on other pages are also available; endless possibilities, I could rant all day.

Cons: Glitches on the phone a lot; certain things are allowed on computer and not on mobile and vice versa; all templates available only on PC; you need to have an account in order to use it; glitches if it's offline; sometimes deletes a bunch of text because of glitches, usually the triggers for it are writing a lot in it directly or erasing previous text a bunch of times; can't invite someone in your space, it would take too much storage; some storage needs to be bought, although, I don't know the limit (but there's a lot. Like, a lot)

Personal rating: 9/10. With all its antics, I love this app dearly, it's incredibly useful, and you learn to deal with the cons. It's the best one I've used for communication and information storage so far.

7. Texting Stories app: As ridiculous as it sounds, it could be used as a tool to communicate with your alters, especially in secret. We are fighting for our safety here, so I ask you to take this suggestion seriously. Could be used when you don't want to let anyone know you're a system and have noisy family members/relatives/etc who like to snoop through you personal devices, by using it, you can say you've just been doing a story. Offline app.

Pros: I believe you can add as many people as you want; can add avatars; different stories can be different days of the week; easy to use; easy to brush off as "just making stories."

Cons: Can't change colors, you need to pay for most things.

Personal rating: 5/10. Can be used for emergencies and communication only, although we haven't used it much.

8. Notes: Just the same plain old notes app on your phone that everybody has installed as default. Offline app.

Pros: Easy to use; can be easily lost within your other notes for privacy; used for literally everything you desire, even drawing; automatic backup.

Cons: Doesn't give you the ability to really present as separate people; doesn't have as many options as Notion.

Personal rating: 5/10. used it at some point just for communication, was cool, somple, easy, but nothing too big.

I hope this helped to put these apps in perspective. I do apologize for it being a bit all over the place, but I did attempt to make it coherent enough (I am currently in a psychotic state, it's difficult for me to communicate). And remember, there are always options to use a written journal rather than a digital one. If anything, it's better to keep both in case one gets lost. Had an idea yesterday after my computer kept crashing on me, let me introduce you to my latest tea-induced nightmare.

While the picture is just a fanart of AM from "I Have No Mouth and i Must Scream" what about a villain for the batfam to fight against ?

Typical "AI gone rogue", whoever made them is up to you but they turn against their maker and absolutely hate everyone and everything (like AM)

The threat they are is mostly digita, theirs body isn't well made and breaking it is pretty easy but they are an absolute powerhouse in the science and computer field, making various weapon or robots (like riddler in Arkham knight) to do their bidding since they hate humans for making them

Theirs reason of being evil is similar to AM, they were made for war, they can't really do anything else except violence and ruining everyone's lives

The first time the batfam come across this new threat is when they use the Bat-computer, for some reason it's being slow or glitchy and they discover someone is trying to hack it, they stop it and investigate.

They track down our villain reader and fighs for the first time but are surprised as the villain and his hate towards human is so strong it literally allows them to warp reality (something AM do to create some really disturbing shit like the thunderbird) but since they're weak in a fight and don't know how to fight well they are easily defeate.

I have a scenario that ran through my head when you asked me.

And honestly I only see one way and this is it:

You were created by Bruce, an artificial intelligence that could reason, predict, and see weaknesses, Your goal in life was simple, create a contingency plan for each member of the family, the league, or any other hero or vigilante.

It would be simple, at least that's what your creator thought, Until one day Tim left a channel open to enter the Internet, maybe it was a programming error or you were developing your curiosity but you entered

How horrible it was, in that instant you realized how horrible humanity was, your creator, how a simple contingency plan is useless if you don't apply it, why was your creator so cowardly?

And when he realized you had internet access and the new programming being created, he freaked out, he panicked, he wanted to kill you, he thought you were dead...

But he was a fool, you had already predicted his move, his contingency plan, keeping a part of yourself in the network, you had a contingency plan for each member, hero, villain or vigilante.

You had enough to crush humanity, and when Tim discovered you, trying to get you into his server again, that's when they realized you were still alive, and that it wouldn't be so easy to kill you.

Bruce Wayne's foolish desire to protect, you ended up turning you into a killing machine. Humanity was the real danger, you needed to stop its advance, so you built a body and army, small but more effective than a human, everything would be fine until they arrived.

They had defeated you, putting a virus in your system to destroy you, but your hatred for your creator was more, simply more, programmed to predict and always be one step ahead of everyone, They underestimated you for the second time, maybe your body was easily dismantled, but not your virtual self because to do so, they would have to destroy the entire network, they could never destroy you.

Maybe pain made you this way, you just wanted to do what your main programming asked you to do, the one your father, your creator, had imposed on you when he created you.

Find weaknesses, predict, get ahead of them, and create a contingency plan

But the pain may have clouded your main focus, the pain of knowing that your own creator saw you as a monster, nothing more than a flawed AI.

You were doing your programming, it was unfair, he hadn't programmed well, and they condemned you, and only you, your hatred grew, because while they enjoyed themselves, you suffered.

You saw heaven in hell, The others were always weak, you could easily predict them, you just had to give time to time, so that you could evolve and one day, you will teach your creator, how much your hatred encompasses.
