I sort of like the idea of Bruce accidentally adopting Damian. Something happened which caused Damian to run away from the league and towards his father, but all he knows is that is father is batman. Before he can ever find him though, he is taken in by Bruce Wayne.
Damian intended to just slip away the first chance he gets, but somehow his escape plans keep getting interrupted. Eventually he begins to like living with the Waynes so much he starts to consider simply not looking for batman. After all, his father never came for him before. And what proof does he have that batman is so great anyways? He might as well stay with the people who actually like having him around.
Damian assigns himself as the Wayne family's protector because these weak foolish people could certainly never defend themselves. After the third foiled kidnapping attempt Damian is sure he could never leave. They would all die without him. Frankly he is amazed the Wayne's behavior hasn't gotten them all killed yet.

99.999% of arguments used against rhaenyra are the definition of bullshit btw
why should i give a shit about the random man DAEMON killed to use as laenor’s body double when alicent was complicit in the murders of named characters like lyonel and harwin? or the brothel house that she had larys burn down (that most likely had innocent women and children inside)? or when criston murdered joffrey (over him trying to broker a deal with him)? or when aegon sexually harassed serving girls as a teen and we see the aftermath of him raping dyana as an adult? or when aemond murdered luke over a debt that he claimed had already been paid AND singlehandedly started a war that killed thousands?
idgaf about the nameless extra that only had 30 secs of screen time get over yourself

Galladrabbles: Twin Size Mattress
Thank you @spacerockwriting for our @galladrabbles song prompt this week! Such beautiful and melancholy lyrics in this song, but of course I could only think to put them in this situation 🤷‍♀️
=============================
“I want a normal twin mattress, man. Don’t need no sleep-number-temper-whatever-the-fuck-memory-foam crap.”
Mickey starts pacing around the “Mattress Showroom”, and for the tenth time, wonders why he ever listens to Mandy. What was wrong with buying this shit online like everything else??
Don’t be a dumbass, you gotta go test it out first!
He’s staring at another bed when a new sales guy approaches.
“Sir, my associate tells me you’d like to test out a mattress?” Says a tall redhead sporting a name tag and an obnoxious smirk. Damnit.
“Yep. Maybe you should show me that King-size one over there.”

Okay but TSP/Portal crossover AU is such a cool concept, how have I never thought about that before?? I'd like to request Narra and GLaD hanging out watching their respective little guys go through tests like 'can you believe them they're so dumb <3'
Tumblr media
Day 30 - They're absolute hellions
Bonus:
Tumblr media
Noooo, my bucket!!
#My art#Requestober#Portal#The Stanley Parable#TSP#GLaDOS#The Narrator#Stanley#Chell#They're just all so antagonist towards others lol#I think Stanley is a terrible influence paired with just about anyone but honestly I think Chell would adopt him haha#She is also a chaos gremlin and enjoys taunting and flouting the ''rules'' - deservedly lol#It's hard to imagine GLaDOS or the Narrator just accepting that they've been dropped into a crossover haha#They're both so fixated on their respective protagonist that someone else is just strange! Odd!! Unwanted!!#And at least GLaD and Chell are at the homefield advantage - the boys are in a whole new environment!#The Narrator would freak the heck out lol - but if they got past the initial without everything combusting-#Well actually I can imagine GLaDOS getting fed up with Narra hogging the PA just to say what Stanley is/should be doing lol#''He is clearly ignoring you why do you bother'' ''It's my job! My duty!'' *explosion* Pfft#I do like the idea of GLaDOS referring to other people's test subjects by other lesser names#Something along the lines of I'm the only one who gets to call mine a test subject because I'm doing Real science haha#All these dynamics! How the two protags would react to each other and their respective voices reaction to each other and each's inverse#Too many to think about right now lol gimme a sleep or two on it haha#Although Portal/TSP crossovers have been around since they both existed concurrently ♪ Still they're fun to think about!#It is fun to imagine Stanley following behind Chell through the portals until he gets distracted#It becomes a bucket quest real fast lol - They poke around Rattman's bunker and Chell gets sad and Stanley ''helps'' with a distraction#Trimming GLaDOS down and doing a halfbody for Narra and then chibis for the rest - it's all about the right math right? Right lol#Only one more! Ahh!

Hello, I was wondering if sled dogs (or, well, any dog that lives in an area where snowblindness would be a risk) ever suffer from snow blindness?
If not, what features prevent them from getting snowblindness.
If yes, what do you do to prevent snow blindness?
Dogs can get snowblindness just like people and it is often suggested dogs wear goggles (such as Rex Specs) to prevent it. Ernest Shackleton, an antarctic explorer of the early 1900s believed the dogs he used for his expedition got snowblindness.
For my dogs I don't do anything, nor do most people running sled dogs. It is not common in dogs and I personally believe that several factors are at play here.
First, with sled dog breeds they have arctic adaptions, otherwise they would not exist or work to optimum performance and would have been culled or spayed/neutered. Many indigenous northern dog breeds develop a fatty pad around the eye (and other areas of the face) which can help shield the eye from sun, reflections, and weather. Many wild arctic mammals have this adaption as well. Additionally, a majority of dogs have very pigmented irises, which help in this department, and could be a good reason why many indigenous arctic breeds are not allowed to have blue eyes in their standards. Usually with these dogs the darker the eye the better.
Secondly, working sled dogs are kept outside so they can best acclimate to the weather. Dogs that are outdoors very often are more likely to adapt overall and this includes using their other senses to overcome lack of sight. I've seen blind sled dogs run, I've seen three legged sled dogs run. A good sled dog is resilient to the outdoors, to weather, etc.
Thirdly, dogs, unlike humans often have facial markings. Much in the way football players put black under their eyes to help prevent sunglare, the markings of a dog are likely to have a similar effect. All white dogs (like mine!) certainly exist, but a dog with pure white hair is not = to a human being with a single skin tone. Dogs have a darker pigmented skin tone under their white hair (usually black or brown with black pigment being more desirable in sled dog breeds when they are a solid color).
And lastly, a big reason I don't do anything for my dogs about sunblindness is that the region i live in is simply not sunny enough to warrant that. We get very little sunlight in the winter period. A lot of places where dog sledding is most common are also quite cloudy (Anchorage, AK is usually considered the #1 cloudiest city in America) and a huge majority of areas bordering Canada (such as where I live) also tend to fall into these cloudy categories.

Random thought that S1 could have instead had more consistent hinting/detail to it that Tommy *suspected* Grace in some way, and therefore his seduction of her wasn't entirely just the hearteyes it tried to be sold as, but rather attempting to sway her to his side. Because, given every other series has Tommy using his body/self/sex as a way to leverage influence he wouldn't otherwise have, it'd be consistent to have seen a hint of that with Grace.
And then to *still* have their revelation moment after the Garrison killings, because then how much more meaningful if he throws away his suspicions in favour of finding someone he feels sees him and gets him.

If you want to understand what is going on with sex testing and boxing at the Olympics, boy do I have a podcast for you!
Have you been having tough, complicated, frustrating conversations about the inclusion of women in sports recently? Have friends or family who are repeating talking points about certain Olympic boxers having an "unfair advantage" over other women?
If you want to be able to have smarter, more nuanced and fact based conversations about this stuff, I really do think my most recent project will help.
I spent the last ten years researching sex testing, and all that work culminated into a podcast called TESTED. It's six episodes, and it takes you around the world and back in time to understand where sex testing comes from, how it has shifted over time, and why it won't go away.
I worked really hard on the project, and I really do think that listening will help people be smarter about sex, gender, sports and fairness.
If you listened and want more — including an explainer specifically about Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting and whatever the hell is actually going on with boxing at the Olympics — you can get that by subscribing to the newsletter!

as i write about foreman Observing cameron and chase
i bet it killed foreman in s4 like. chase spent 3 years as the Diagnostics Punching Bag, foreman openly looked down on him and accused him of messing things up. and now foreman's dragged back to PPTH and chase is the new surgery wunderkind. like it's canon that chase is really fucking good at surgery, even outside the jokes about him doing every surgery on the planet. he quits house and is thriving and the best medicine boy and you know it made foreman so mad

Fr tho I'm gonna have to start over a clean slate with SC mid S2. This first run is the messiest I've been since VFV... I did enjoy it actually. Did I forgot my own rule of thumb when playing RC? Yup I did. Will triggering most of the LIs romance path haunt me back come S2? Yup. 💯%. I'm fvcked.

Btw you could make an argument for the most decorated Olympians in history having unfair advantages.
Michael Phelps? His arm length, his ankles being double-jointed, and his lung capacity give him an advantage in swimming.
Katie Ledecky? Not sure what her advantage actually is but she definitely blew the competition out of the water in the 1500 meter the other day when she broke the Olympic record. I watched it and she was at least 50 meters ahead of the second place swimmer at all times pretty much. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone call the women's 1500 meter unfair because of it yet tbh.
Taller people inherently have an advantage in running (and track and field as a whole) due to having longer legs. I'm 5'1, I have a friend who's 6'1, and I'd occasionally race him on the upper level of the high school gym. While I didn't have too hard of a time keeping up with him, I was at an inherent disadvantage due to my height and my ankles being unstable.
The entire point of sports is that you're putting people with different advantages and disadvantages in the same sport. Yeah, some sports are more likely to cater to people with certain advantages (for example, basketball players are usually tall) but acting like the entire basis of sports isn't pitting people with different advantages and disadvantages against each other (or putting them on the same team to go up against another team with a variety of advantages and disadvantages) is you actively lying to yourself about what sports fundamentally are. Even in a marathon, someone who's 6'1 is going to have an advantage over my 5'1 ass. Hell, I'd probably be at a disadvantage in rowing because I'm hypermobile and my joints will dislocate or cause me pain over the tiniest of things (which is the same reason I can't see myself being a swimmer).
Sports are, at their core, putting people with different advantages and disadvantages against each other and to act like it's not is lying to yourself.

I realized recently (read: today as I'm writing this) that while I associate certain specific fiber arts with Athena (knitting, weaving, dying, and spinning), I associate crochet specifically with Apollo, though Athena's there too, of course. I think it's because it's more free-flowing: I can freehand something with crochet more easily than I can with knitting, both because I've known it longer and because there are fewer Things To Learn, unlike knitting which has a million different techniques that may seem interchangeable but actually aren't and that all affect the end product in a pretty big way (looking at you decreases & bind-offs). Because I can free-hand crochet more easily, and I grew with it the same way I did with drawing, they have similar vibes. Knitting and weaving, on the other hand, have steeper learning curves imo and are way more structured- and I associate more solid (dare I say rigid) structure with Athena. Embroidery and cross-stitch are kinda in their own floating category, maybe because I do them less and therefore have weaker associations with them over-all. I associate hand-sewing largely with Hestia, though again, Athena is always also there, because I associate it with mending, altering clothing, and making home items (ex the quilted pillowcase I've been mentally turning around in my head for the last few weeks).
Interestingly, I find printmaking specifically to be associated with both Athena and Apollo. It leans into the latter's domain, of course, the same way crochet does Athena's, but the structure you need in order to layer & print properly without hurting yourself, ruining equipment, or fucking up you edition seems reminiscent of Athena. Dyeing, especially making & using natural dyes, feels very much like an Athena thing despite it 1) feeling similar to painting or using inks and 2) being a trial & error process that's honestly pretty free-flowing if you approach it a certain way (especially if you do solar dyeing, which doesn't necessarily need some of the more meticulous processes you need to boil-dye something).
