The Road So Far…

The beginning of Santae’s Alpha test on May 12th, was the start of an incredible journey. In the weeks since then, we’ve enriched the game with dozens of regular updates and exciting new features.

Here is just a taste of what we’ve added to enhance your experience on Santae:

New pet species

On Santae, mystical pets are your adventuring companions. There are plenty to choose from, and many more species on the way! Over the course of Alpha, we released 5 brand new pet species for Santarians to befriend. We’ve also increased the amount of pet friends you can add to your adventure party to 10 when you start!

The adorable moth-like Nochturn is ready to join any Santarian’s adventuring party as soon as they join the site. Brave adventurers who journey to the Lava Caves of the Flamefall Cascades can find the draconic Harlowin and fearsome Grusim. The elegant Drava can be found at traveling merchant Vespera’s exclusive shop. And finally, the friendly Quibbit evolves from its tadpole-like Minimal form.

Which pet species will become your faithful adventuring companion?

New Pet Colors

No matter your style, you can customize your pet companions on Santae with the help of magical shimmer dust!

We announced FOUR exciting new pet colors over the course of Alpha, with more to come in Beta and beyond. Will your pet let its true colors shine with the beautiful Prismatic shimmer dust? Will it become an adorable Pipsqueak? Will they show class and elegance with a RegalShimmer Dust? Or will you give your pet a taste of retro digital style with the brand-new Synthwave color?

In the world of Santae, your pets can adopt enchanting companions of their own called Minimals! Choose from dozens of types to find your pet’s perfect match.

Exciting New Site Features

The world of Santae is rich with opportunities to explore, gather, and discover. During the site’s Alpha phase, we’ve unlocked engaging on-site mini-games that bring you and your pets all across the vibrant world of Santae.

Send your pets Gathering at locations across Santae and they will bring back exciting items to share with you! Your pet might bring you a magical rune from the mysterious Stormforge Caverns, gather useful plants from the Ancient Grove, or maybe even discover an egg that can hatch into another pet at the volcanic pools of Ember Springs. You can also direct your pet to pluck rare berries from the Great Berry Tree!

When your pets go Fishing at the sunny Solar Sands – or in any gathering location across Santae – there’s no telling what they might find at the other end of the line. You might reel in a delicious fish, an eel that can join your pet as its Minimal companion, a piece of useful equipment that only needs a small repair, and so much more. More discoveries in the depths of the waters around Santae are sure to come.

If you want to tame wild Minimals, go visit Silvershade’s Ranch in the Lani Archipelago! They will send you out into the wild to catch and tame a Minimal through an interactive Herding mini-game. Bring berries, toys, and plushies to tempt and distract the Minimal as you and your pet cooperate to befriend it.

A Dynamic World

Santae’s sunny days and mysterious nights each hold their own mysteries to explore, watch as the clouds move while you play, and every hour on the hour you can watch the transition to day/night. As the world cycles between states every hour, you and your pets have the chance to make exciting new discoveries!

Visiting the Lava Caves in the dark of night will bring you face to face with the opportunity to tame a fearsome Grusim – but during the light of day, the Grusim retreats. While the sun shines over the Lava Caves, you can instead bring your Harlowin egg there to hatch into a new companion.

Exciting Events

The most important ingredient in the world of Santae is you: The community!

Over the course of THREE exciting events, our Alpha Testers have been able to participate in and shape the future of the game’s world. Together, we’ve discovered new Minimals, locations, and even new pet species.

The Goopper Swarm

Mysterious slug-like Minimals swarmed Gathering locations all across Santae, prompting adventurers everywhere to collect them in an attempt to learn more.

By collecting the Gooppers and discovering their source, Santarians discovered a brand-new location: The Goopper Grotto. This tranquil forest clearing holds an amazing secret: When you bring a Goopper there alongside certain powerfully magical items, the Minimal will transform!

The Mourning Grusim

By following the traces of an ancient legend, adventurers learned of a mythical creature lurking deep within the Lava Caves.

Together, Santarians discovered sanDust: A secondary currency earned through site activities. This magical dust proved to be the secret to calming the ferocious ancient beast within the caves. By working together to collect sanDust, the community unlocked the ability to tame and adopt the Grusim for everyone!

The Quibbit Cove

When Santarians began to discover mysterious eggs around the site, they banded together to collect them and learn more about them. Together, we learned how to hatch Quibbspawn eggs into a brand-new Minimal: The Quibblet!

But the Quibblet was no ordinary Minimal. More ancient clues pointed the community towards a newly-discovered location, Quibbit Cove. It was there that the true secret of the Quibblet was revealed: Feeding it in the cove causes it to evolve into a fully-fledged pet, the Quibbit!

Thanks to the community’s efforts of research and discovery, the location of Quibbit Cove and the secret of Quibblet evolution are now unlocked for everyone.

does anybody want to check out the petsite I've been playing for a while?

I think Santae is really cute, nostalgic, almost like a modern Neopets without the accumulated jank. It keeps things basic - you adventure to unlock pets, change their colours to your liking, and have them explore or forage for you to gain items.

The pet style is super endearing, here's a few of them

The basic colours are easy to grab, but the special colours have nice art direction - these examples Pipsqueak, Regal, Synthwave, and Netherflame. All the possible colours and species can be browsed over here

The site is still in beta so things are being tweaked and added all the time. As a beta tester you can get a daily gift as well as generous site handouts!

Because it's still in beta testing, you need a referral link to join during the referral window - I think it's open until Feb 15th.

It's got constant updates right now, and I almost forgot, you can collect customisation for your personal avatar as well.

It's a dressup game too! And some backgrounds and accessories are animated. They had a wildly successful kickstarter and a robust content roadmap. Right now there's item collections, live events with prizes, hidden forum avatars, discord giveaways, and three teased upcoming new colours (tidewalker, gilded, and petrastone), all that jazz

🎹⋆.˚➤Born in the late 80’s around 1990s like Jemíma which makes him a millennial of course and raised in Nevada, a quiet and introverted kid who spent a lot of time alone because his parents were always busy with work. He learned to be independent and self-sufficient at a young age, picking up skills like woodworking, car repair, and electronics. When his family moved to California, he found himself in a changed world and started attending the same school as the band. He was initially a bit reserved and standoffish, but after being recruited by the band, he found his passion and a sense of belonging. But he's also got a good sense of humor and a big heart.

🎹⋆.˚➤Absolutely a geeky, dorky teen with an odd, nerdy side and a serious love for tech and computer programming. He has a unique sense of humor that sometimes goes over the other band members' heads, but that's part of his charm. He can spend hours talking about the latest gadgets, programming tips, and random tech facts.

🎹⋆.˚➤^But he also has a soft spot for superhero movies, classic comic books, and all things related to science fiction. He's the guy who keeps the band's website up and running and is the resident techie for all their equipment, video games were his SHIT when he was a kid.

🎹⋆.˚➤Being an urban explorer. He has a fascination with abandoned places, especially ones that are untouched and still in decent condition. He loves the thrill of discovering hidden gems and exploring forgotten structures. Of course, he has this whole system of research, planning, and safety precautions he uses before venturing into any new location. He shares his finds with the gang and even takes them along on some of his adventures, much to their occasional chagrin. ("day 1 of exploring the backrooms because Keegan can't drive for Jack shit and we noclipped through a cliff part 1 ✌️")

🎹⋆.˚➤A bit of an odd ball, always making weird and goofy jokes, but the others find his personality endearing. And let's be honest, with his tech skills, he's probably the one who keeps the band's equipment and website running smoothly. He can also be incredibly competitive when it comes to board games and video games, even resorting to cheating now and then.

🎹⋆.˚➤Definitely has a unique taste in music, just like his personality. He's into synthwave, vaporwave, and other types of electronic music that evoke a certain sense of nostalgia with a retro 1980s vibe. Also a fan of alternative rock and some indie artists. Probably has a vast and eclectic music library on his laptop, and he's constantly discovering new songs and sharing them with the band.

🎹⋆.˚➤Is a pro with the Keytar! He's got a true talent for it and can play some seriously sick riffs and melodies. He has a natural feel for the instrument, and his skills grow with each new song the band learns. He's not just a button-masher either - he's able to create complex melodies and catchy riffs that really add to the band's sound. The other guys are always impressed by his ability to seamlessly switch from playing the Keytar to backing vocals or playing additional instruments.

🎹⋆.˚➤Becoming a keytarist for the band is a fun one. He's always had a love for music, but initially, he didn't think he was talented enough to start playing an instrument. One day, he stumbled upon a Keytar in a thrift store and instantly fell in love with the instrument's unique appeal. He bought it on a whim and started teaching himself how to play it -- a fusion of keys and guitar that allowed him to express himself through music in a way that felt most comfortable. After a lot of practice and experimenting, he started bringing his Keytar to band practice, and the rest is history! The band was instantly drawn to his quirky and captivating instrument.

🎹⋆.˚➤The youngest in the band, but he's also lowkey the smartest one. He's incredibly observant, quick on the uptake, and has an insane memory when it comes to facts and figures. The guys often tease him for being a know-it-all.

🎹⋆.˚➤Often mutters to himself when he's working on tech stuff, leading the others to wonder if he's secretly part of a secret code-breaking organisation. A massive sweet tooth and constantly has some sort of candy stashed away in his pocket or backpack. Geeks out over random things like retro video games, classic toys, and obscure internet memes.

🎹⋆.˚➤Loves playing around with sound effects and remixes. He has a sound remixer and synthesiser in his garage workshop, and sometimes he'll mess around with the song demos the band records, especially Jemíma’s vocals. He likes to experiment with different effects, beats, and soundscapes to see what sounds he can create. He even has a secret folder of Jemíma-themed remixes that he dabbles in when the others aren't around. He claims it's just for his own amusement.

🎹⋆.˚➤Tends to catch colds and viruses pretty easily, probably due to his school hectic schedule and not taking proper care of himself at times. When he does get sick, he turns into a total baby, whining and complaining about how much his head hurts and how much he hates being stuck in bed. He also becomes a bit of a hypochondriac, constantly checking his temperature and googling his symptoms. But there's one saving grace: his jar of vapor rub, which he carries with him everywhere and applies generously to his chest and under his nose.

🎹⋆.˚➤Has a really strong friendly bond with Jemíma. Despite their same age, they share a lot of the same interests and hobbies, such as a love for music and technology. Kick appreciates her sharp wit and intelligence, and she finds him endearingly quirky and funny. They often bond over their shared love for all things retro, and they have this natural chemistry that makes them a perfect team when they work together on music or any other project.

🎹⋆.˚➤Totally fits the role of the band's unofficial videographer and photographer. He owns a vintage Sony camcorder and loves capturing moments of the band in action, whether it's at practice sessions or gigs. He has a keen eye for detail and a knack for framing the perfect shot. He loves sharing his photos and videos with the guys, making little montage videos and keeping a record of their adventures together. With Kick behind the camera, the band can rest assured that every memory is well-documented!

... yes I'm working on another AU

I've currently become obsessed with a new online game called Santae and I've been deep-diving into the upcoming lore of the game as its been in development.

It is meant to be an RPG style type game where you play an adventurer in the magical world of Santae and you basically choose your own path. You get abilities based on special skills such as luck, strength, persuasion... and work up a skill tree based on your chosen class and race as you unlock special powers based on your unique attributes.

Thanks to my current hyper fixations, I decided to create an AU based on my love of Digimon and Santae.

My in-game character will be based off Osamu Ichijouji from Digimon Adventure 02. After the accident, he ends up getting transported and reborn in the world of Santae. With that, he begins to train to become a high-class wizard in hopes of accessing dimensional powers that will allow him to return back to Japan.

One power he has obtained is the ability to turn into a Synthwave Wispyr. Wispyrs are rare, mythical creatures that exist almost as fantasy in the world of Santae. They are similar to kitsune foxes.

I commissioned this icon to show off his alternate Wispyr form.

In the future, I plan on commissioning more art of my Santae AU.

First of all I want to say I love that you always have music in your posts, I'm very music motivated so I enjoy it a lot! They do have a playlist actually, though they are both kind of a mess. (I'm trying not to go on a long rant or share all their songs) But you HCs are so close! They don't have an actually genre but a vibe though. (Teach me how to embed the songs as nicely as you do- I really struggled..) Dakota: Their playlist is mostly up beat and positive songs! There is some sad ones ofc but I mostly wanted happy and encouraging when listening to it! This is one of the main songs I listen for them:

(^^^Honorable mentions..) PR: Is a huge mess, I think I have a song for any emotion he will ever feel ever. He either has both mellow and heavy beats, rock, synthwave, R&B- seem to be a common genres (You were right on the older, but he leans more in the 70's-80's stuff) He has more history and doesn't show really how he feels so it is like having 2 people on his playlist haha.

(I tried to limit to 3 songs each haha!)
