Commission: Nagito Komaeda and Kokichi Ouma - Kissing/Makeout Headcanons + First Kiss Drabble

Fic premise assumes you are the S/O (established relationship or crush) and WANT to be kissed by them, keep this in mind.

Nagito Komaeda

Nagito is very ill (obviously) both mentally and physically. With this in mind and just seeing how he acts in-game, I have always retained the idea that he has different sides of himself. I think a lot of the time, the illness gets to his head.

Which Nagito you get can change day by day depending on his mood, his goals, or his current mental state, as we see in-game. Think of how he acts in the beginning of Chapter 1 versus say Chapter 5.

There was a very smug, passive-aggressive (and sometimes just plain aggressive), and sharp-witted Nagito…

Or the giggling, self-hating, hope-gasming mess of a man Nagito.

As his S/O, you got both sides, and both sides would serve you in his own way. He would always strive to please you, even if his methods and words sometimes weren’t the best.

After all, he wouldn’t have fallen in love with you if he didn’t see you as a beacon of hope. You were worthy in every way to him, even when he felt like he didn’t deserve you.

Early into your relationship, Nagito would be very needy, in disbelief that someone like him could have someone like you. He’d be touch-starved, nearly worshiping your body as you made out.

His hands would shake as he ran them up and down your sides while you kissed, clawing at your scalp, desperate to pull you in as if he’d lose you if he didn’t.

He’d be out of breath, ragged, not wanting to separate from you. He wouldn’t believe you would want to be near him, much less lock lips with him. He would savor every second, heart beating wildly in his chest. He would feel like he could pass out at any second.

As your relationship progressed and you two got more comfortable being romantic and vulnerable around each other, he would become more confident and initiate the connections between you two more often.

There would still be times where he acted a bit strange or timid, even in your trusted presence, but now making out with you was something he wanted to enjoy regularly, craved and needed, rather than an occurrence he thought would never happen to him in a million years.

He warms up to you like an engine, going from clinging to you and asking between kisses why you have feelings for a mess like him, to leaving you speechless and breathless as he pushes you up against the wall of your private cottage. He’d cage you in with his arms on either side of you, wanting you only to himself, biting at your bottom lip.

He’d become greedy with your touch and time, dragging you away from the group to make out in your room and tell you how you drive him wild.

The First Kiss

You sat on the floor of Nagito’s cabin with him like you did pretty much every night, cross-legged and hiding a hand of cards from him so he couldn’t cheat. He won nearly every time anyway, so he didn’t need that extra advantage. You enjoyed whisking him away for alone time like this. You found that many of your classmates either didn’t like Nagito or didn’t understand him. Most found him odd, even those who called him a friend. He never saw their judgements or little jabs as hurtful because he thought he deserved it. It made you really enjoy the time spent between only the two of you, because there was no judgement toward him, no stress. You could just be yourselves. He could even tell you about his ideals and plans for hope for the world all he wanted without being side-eyed. You often talked for hours as you played video games you borrowed from Chiaki and ate snacks. 

Everyone knew you two were a thing, a close friendship that had blossomed into a mutual crush. You were rarely seen without the other, and in fact most had an inkling that if Nagito wasn’t with you, he was up to something. 

You had a lot of fun with him, despite his constant questioning of your feelings for him: asking why you’d want to even be around someone like him, assuring you that he knew he could be a bother. He felt like he was a waste of your time, and you were slowly getting him out of the habit of feeling that way.

Now into early hours of the morning, everyone else was fast asleep for the night. Nagito walked you back to your cabin in the dark of the humid night, lit only by small lanterns adorning the cottage walls. This was your routine. Once in a while you fell asleep in his bed while he slept on the floor with a single blanket and pillow but him walking you back to your room before then was the norm. He’d casually wrap his coat around your shoulders on the rare occasion it was chilly, sometimes risk awkwardly reaching for your hand. He’d never been forward with you thus far, making it clear that while he wanted more, he didn’t feel like he deserved it. He wasn’t the best choice for you. He was meant to support you, to bolster your hope, not be a romantic equal. Tonight, it felt a little different, though. You wanted your relationship to move to the next level. You were going crazy, left with only the gentle embraces or leaning against him on his bed to satisfy you until your next fix. You needed more.

“Well… goodnight (Y/N),” Nagito flashed you a sideways grin, hesitating as if something were on his mind before turning to return to his cabin alone. You’d met his eyes and he looked away, already beginning his trek back. You reached out, grasping the tips of his fingers then securely moving your way up his arm to halt him.

“Nagito, wait…” He snapped his ghostly white face back to you immediately, expectantly almost…

“Yeah?” You swallowed nervously, losing the confidence and adrenaline rush when his eyes searched yours. He had a way of making butterflies appear in your stomach. He was just… so pretty, especially in the low lighting, especially with your nerves on fire. “What is it, (Y/N)...?” He stepped closer when the silence lingered.

“I, well… don’t go, yet…” You struggled to find the words. You couldn’t just ask straight out, right?

“Okay… I’ll stay. Is something wrong?” He hadn’t known you to ever be nervous or at a loss of words around him. That was everyone else’s job.

“Well, I want to… well…” he stepped a bit closer and your heart rate picked up. “Is it okay if maybe, I kiss you?” He felt his heart sink. His eyes went wide, pupils blown out in disbelief, but yet he stepped closer, as if his body and mind were at opposition.

“What? You want to kiss someone like me? Why would you-”

“If you don’t want to, please, it’s okay. Seriously, we don’t have to-.” You started back tracking immediately, thinking maybe you’d gone too far. 

“Well of course I want to, but… I mean someone like me would only soil you. Can you imagine my filthy lips on y-”

“I do imagine your lips… a lot.” You spoke barely above a whisper, and he moved closer once more, until your chest lightly bumped against his.

“Really? Wow, I can’t imagine such a shining beacon of hope such as yourself wanting anything to do with me…” His eyes darted between yours and your bottom lip, feeling the stirrings of desire in the pit of his stomach.

“You say that a lot, you know… I wish you wouldn’t.” You tilted your head slightly, leaning in gently, extending your neck just barely.

“Are you sure about this?” His voice took on a slightly husky tone, and he didn’t stop you when your lips bumped against his, so reluctantly, so jittery. When he didn’t pull away, you pressed a little harder.

Almost like his cautious and unsure mood from just before was a merely a farce, he tilted his head to match, and his lips melted into yours like they were meant to fit together. Touch-starved and needy, he brought two shaky hands up to clutch onto your shoulders, as if you’d blow away with the wind if he didn’t. Allowing you very little time or room to breathe, his tongue found its way past your lips and brushed against yours. He felt you return the gesture with even more enthusiasm, and you heard as much as felt him moan into your mouth. The rumble in his chest sent sparks to your brain. He moved one hand around your waist, the other grabbing the back of your neck desperately, pulling you further in when you couldn’t physically be any closer. He was frantic, needing more and more of you. His mind was racing with so many thoughts at once.

Needing air urgently, you pulled away and found him hesitant to let go. So you didn’t. Not wanting to part from him either, you rested your forehead against his, bringing your hands up to run through his cloud of messy white locks.

Kokichi Ouma

Kokichi is not shy.

He is bold, teasing, and very loud about his feelngs for you.

Because while he loved to lie, your flustered reactions to his affections were so much more rewarding.

When it came to kissing, well there was no better way to rile you up and get that reaction he was looking for.

He loves PDA.

Kissing you in public was not only a way to mess with you, but to show the world you belonged to him.

He would do drive by kisses, running up to you for a peck then scampering off before you had a moment to process.

He would make bets, games, dares where you had to kiss him if you lost.

Kokichi was not nice.

When he made out with you in the privacy of your own dorm rooms, he was rough and unforgiving. He liked your little yips and gasps of surprise.

Sometimes he would tease you, hovering his lips over yours until you were nearly begging him to just kiss you already.

Your embarrassment was super cute to him.

When he was really into it, sometimes he’d pull at your hair or grab your backside, and when your lips parted to gasp, shoved his tongue in, an opportunist.

The First Kiss

You were traipsing about with Kokichi, investigating the newly unlocked areas of the academy. Exploring the vast and mysterious campus was daunting alone, but super fun with Kokichi by your side. You bounced between recently opened labs while Kokichi bothered their owners.

After a while, as the day was winding down and you’d begun to run low on energy, you sat with Kokichi on the top step of the flight of stairs just down the hall from Kiyo’s lab. The atmosphere was dark and gloomy, like the set of a horror film. You’d never have come up to this floor alone. You wondered why such a cheery girl like Angie had her lab - used to create beautiful art - on such a spooky floor. Kokichi, of course, had been messing with you the whole time, claiming he’d seen a dark shadow down the hall or that he swore he heard Kiyo hatching an evil plan in his lab earlier. You’d punched his shoulder, begging him to cut it out before you ran back to your dorm and left him behind. Looking down the creaky steps, you spoke a warning to him:

“Kokichi, I’m serious! You know this place freaks me out already. I don’t need you adding to i- mmph!” Your words were cut off, muffled into an awkward noise when Kokichi’s lips crashed onto yours. Your eyes widened in shock, but his were closed as he kissed you and pulled back just as fast. He leaned back on his hands, smirking mischeviously at you.

“W-what was that for?!” You sputtered, feeling your pulse throb in your chest.

“Huh? What do you mean?” Kokichi feigned innocence, his mouth agape in a childish look of guilt.

“You kissed me???” Your brows furrowed suspiciously.

“Well, I like you!” He grinned genuinely. “I know you like me too~! I heard you talking to Saihara about it the other day!” You were shocked at his apparent spying on you and would address it later, but he was right. You did have a crush on Kokichi, and you’d spoken to your close friend Shuichi about it at length, but you’d never have told Kokichi himself. You expected a swift and humiliating rejection if you did. You liked Kokichi a lot actually, but thought that to him, you were nothing more than a plaything, a way to avoid boredom because you tolerated him unlike most of your peers. A friend at most. 

Your mind was racing, wondering how he could confess his feelings for you so bluntly, so plainly… Wasn’t he nervous at all? Was this a lie? Who can state that they like someone as more than a friend so casually?

But then you remembered that this was Kokichi. He wasn’t like other people. He was unique, for sure. You’d never met anyone like him.

“If you knew, why didn’t you tell me before?” You questioned, disbelief in your voice. He really was something else. “Ahhh!” You cried out as you were pushed backwards suddenly, now laying flat on the floor against the landing of the stairs. Kokichi jumped astride you, ignoring your question and straddling your waist. With a devilish grin he looked at you, pinned down below him. “Kokichi!” You squealed, not able to do much else. Your limbs felt like jelly and you couldn’t make eye contact with him.

“Awww I love that embarrassed expression on you~! You know, (Y/N)... you’re kinda cute this way.” He leaned down, letting the tip of his nose wiggle against yours. “You want more?” He mused, his tone low and impish. Turning your head away from him shyly, you paused, thinking about if you should humiliate yourself by playing along first, before nodding in response.

“Then beg for it…” he frowned down at you, deadly serious and commanding an intimidating presence.

“Stop it, Kokichi! You’re being cruel…” You threw an arm over your eyes, obscuring him from view, wishing you could just disappear at this very moment. You couldn’t take the teasing anymore. You were used to it from him, but not in this way. Never in this way.

“Come on now… if you act like that, I won’t kiss you ever again!” He crinkled his nose and furrowed his brow in disapproval. Your ears perked up at that, and you acted on instinct, reaching up and grabbing his checkered bandana in a vice-like grip. His mouth fell agape just a little, brows raising. “Oh, so that’s how it is~” he snickered. 

He knew he had you in his trap, just where he wanted you. You tugged on the bandana, and he let you, bringing his lips down to hover right above yours. You closed your eyes expectantly, waiting for a kiss that never came. After a second, you felt the weight of his body lift off of you, and your eyes fluttered open in disappointment.

“Kokichi?” You sat up to see him already a few steps ahead of you, ready to make a break for it.

“Tell you what… if you can catch me, I’ll take you back to your room and kiss you all you want~!” He gestured flippantly to you, waving his hand, and took off at the speed of light.

I've read fanfic where Nagito is jealous because he feels that Hajime thinks (remembers) about Chiaki at various times, but the idea that Nagito might feel guilty is new to me.

But it is true that Nagito might feel lonely or inferior, thinking that Hajime's awakening as Ultimate Hope was thanks to Chiaki and not to him. In my opinion, Hajime is likely to be depressed and mentally unstable even after 3, but Nagito might be afraid to see Hajime like that and speak harsh words to Hajime. Then he would think that if Chiaki were here, she would speak kind words to Hajime and regret that he himself couldn't do the same later.

However, in my personal opinion, what Hajime needs in the post-3 world is someone like Nagito rather than Chiaki, because Hajime has too much 'can do' due to the power of Kamukura's talent.

Chiaki has the mindset that if you do it, you can do it, but post-3 Hajime can do too many things, it will cause him to worry about where to start, and he will become impatient and overwhelmed by the need to use his talents.

Nagito has a very pessimistic view of things and (unless the other person is very talented) has no expectations of the people around him. And he might also have pessimistic opinions about Hajime, for example that he is basically an ordinary man, even though he has the power of Kamukura. But without people around him who think like that, Hajime would think that he can do anything he sets his mind to and try too hard at everything, which would probably lead to his self-destruction. So I hope that at some point Hajime will realise that he can control himself thanks to Nagito being there for him, and that by telling Nagito this, Nagito can gain a little confidence that he can support Hajime from a different perspective to Chiaki's.

Hmm, I may have somewhat forced the story into my interpretation 🤔 Well, at least I don't think Hajime would ever actually wish Chiaki had been here instead of Nagito, and he would rather strongly feel that he doesn't want to lose Nagito as well, even though losing Chiaki was sad enough. I hope that Hajime's feelings will be conveyed to Nagito at some point (for example, when Nagito is dying and Hajime is very desperate to help him) and that he will want to do something for Hajime instead of feeling guilty.

To be honest I think it'd be really sweet one way it could be resolved is that Hajime has to say that he loves Nagito and that he wouldn't replace him ever. Sure, he misses Chiaki and loved her but his love is with Nagito and he's so happy even if Nagito's beliefs and mindset are troubling to understand or bad for Nagito.

Like Hajime would have to be like, "Hey, I loved Chiaki, yes, but I love you and I wouldn't replace you for anything. You aren't taking her place" just like try to get it through Nagito's head lol. And maybe Hajime would believe that regardless in some way him and Nagito would fall in love and be happy if nothing Despair ever happened.

They definitely both don't want to lose each other, Hajime having already lost Chiaki, and Nagito having barely any reciprocal relationships besides Hajime and everyone dying around him due to his luck gives a lot of "I don't want it to happen again" for the both of them.

They're different people after Dr2 that experience and trauma of a killing game does a lot to you and at that point of growth, Hajime being him and Izuru, and Nagito having grown a bit more they are really perfect for each other imo.

i’m pulling an all nighter and in the midst of said situation i have decided to refute popular “points” that i see people use to say that komahina is one-sided and/or toxic.

1. “hajime hates/doesn’t care about nagito”

okay, let’s take lines from the actual game.

as you can see, hajime doesn’t hate nagito. in fact, it’s pretty fair to say that hajime just wants to understand him, and is probably the only one in the game who doesn’t hate him. arguably, the screenshot is taken from Island Mode, but I’m pretty sure you get my point; hajime voices his want to understand nagito in the actual game.

and plus, if you really hated someone, would you be worrying for them like hajime does with nagito? i mean just look how much he cares about him:

okay, i think you get my point. even i’m getting sick of hajime’s unending care for nagito (and this is AFTER nagito’s betrayal, if i may point out).

so it’s pretty safe to say that hajime doesn’t hate nagito, right? great. next point.

2. “komahina is one sided/hajime doesn’t love/like nagito back”

to be fair, this is one of the strongest arguments i’ve seen that goes against the ship itself—but let me try to change your mind if you believe that hajime doesn’t have even the slightest bit of feelings for nagito (i do believe that this point is mainly based on your interpretation of the evidence i’m about to give you, so you are free to your own opinion!).

so here we go!

hajime definitely had a crush on nagito at the beginning of the game.

and then, the infamous stuttering:

hajime definitely stutters when he’s embarrassed/nervous. he does it with chiaki when she wore a bikini before Mahiru’s case (and it’s pretty obvious that he at least had feelings for her canonically. love our bi protag <3).

at the beginning of the game, nagito and hajime don’t know each other that well, but it’s pretty obvious that they create a bond quicker than anyone else does in the game. it’s not out of line to think that hajime probably felt close to nagito, let alone had some feelings for him.

it would explain why hajime was so hurt by nagito’s betrayal while everyone else was angry/confused.

3. “nagito is just obsessed with hajime because of his “hope”/nagito doesn’t like/love hajime”

alright, it’s pretty much canon that nagito has feelings for hajime, but another mini argument i’ve seen is that “nagito is obsessed with hajime for his hope.”

…okay what.

slow your roll; who said that nagito was obsessed with hajime? the only thing nagito is canonically obsessed with is the idea of hope overcoming despair. sure, when he said “i’m in love with the hope living inside of you” you can argue that he was sincere about it, but in the way the Japanese ver of the game puts it, it’s actually a cover up for “I love you.” and even if it wasn’t, the exact word that nagito uses (aishiteru) is a passionate love; or even a love built with time.

either way, i thought it was pretty obvious that nagito loves hajime for hajime, and maybe his hope was a strong personality trait as to why nagito has feelings for him, but that wasn’t the full reason — that’s probably why nagito still calls him Hajime instead of Izuru/Kamukura.

and plus there’s really no uh denying nagito’s side of the ship.

anyway, i can’t really think of any other points so maybe I’ll add onto this later, but my point still stands that KomaHina is by far one of my favorite ships ever, if not my otp in general. the friends to enemies/rivals to lovers trope and the “i didn’t understand what love was until i met you” trope is still in my top five.

Kuzuhina love pollen/schmexy despair disease aftermath

So a common trope we’ve all seen before is some sort of aphrodisiac/love pollen/sexy despair disease infecting our beloved sdr2 cast. I want to skip the fun stuff and talk about the consequences.

Hajime and Fuyuhiko are with each other when it happens (i’ll say this take place during chapter 3) and it causes them to get all hot and flustered and the two start making out (and more~)

But what about the aftermath. It would be hard to go back to normal after spontaneously having sleeping with each other. And we’re talking about Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu here! The man who stabbed himself in the stomach as a form of apology. Obviously that didn’t work out the last time, but he has to do SOMETHING…

Fuyuhiko disappears for few hours if there are still sick people or a murder to investigate, a few days if it’s free time. Hajime is too much of a tsundere to analyse why it bothers him so much being left alone afterwards. Hajime is not at all self-conscious about his body, about how Fuyuhiko felt about it. If Fuyuhiko was disgusted by having to get physical with Hajime, or if Hajime was generally unpleasant at all. Hajime is not thinking about that at all no sir.

Fuyuhiko returns and the first thing he says to Hajime is “I’ve come to take responsibility as a Kuzuryuu and as a man!!” And pops out an engagement ring. The tiny mobster bows but doesn’t get on his knees cuz he doesn’t want to appear any shorter than he already is. The engagement ring itself is either something nice he got from Monomi/Chiaki through their ‘digital powers’ or if failing that, a ring pop from the store because that was the best he could find.

Hajime’s jaw drops to the floor. There are so many concerns on his mind. Responsibility? Is that really necessary? Yes Hajime wanted to talk to Fuyuhiko about it but marriage was the last thing on his mind. What would Hajime tell his parents? How would Fuyuhiko’s parents react to this? They’re still on an island in a killing game with no way out and Fuyuhiko’s top priority is setting up a shotgun wedding???

Hajime is feeling a mixture of embarrassment, surprise, and little bit of offence since it comes across like Fuyuhiko is worried that Hajime has become “spoiled goods”. It’s not Fuyuhiko’s intention, his behaviour around this is a product of his upbringing. Hajime tries to refuse but Fuyuhiko won’t stand for it, he must restore both their honours at all cost.

Bonus: if this all happens in front of the remain students. If Ibuki is still alive she would be most excited and immediately offer to sing at their wedding. Kazuichi but be jealous that Hajime not only got laid but is also getting married (despite Hajime’s protests otherwise). Gundham might be disappointed that Fuyuhiko did not put more poetry, theatrics, gravitas into the proposal. Nagito is admiring Fuyuhiko’s conviction (though considering Nagito’s crush is kinda canon there’s definitely some mixed feelings here). Now SOMEONE, I don’t know who, maybe Sonia, maybe Ibuki, who knows, will probably theorise out loud that Fuyuhiko was the top during the two’s ‘relations’ and that’s why the blonde yakuza is taking his ‘manly role’ so seriously. Both Hajime and Fuyuhiko tell the person to shut up but don’t really refute it nyehehehehe.

So the first person I thought of when reading this ask was Rinne. He absolutely is the type of person that would say that while laughing and even opening up his arms wide, expecting you to hug him. He´s fully aware that he´s being obnoxious and annoying but he still won´t budge until you give in.

Tori says this when he´s throwing one of his childish tantrums with a pout on his face. You didn´t give him the amount of affection he clearly deserves so you better make up for it now! 100 hugs should suffice for the meantime as Yuzuru tries to calm him down ( while being kind of jealous that Tori can so easily demand affection from you)

Ritsu says this when he´s in a sleepy and clingy mood ( so always) and he demands a hug from you whenever he approaches you. Doesn´t matter if you were working on some important project or something or were talking to someone, Ritsu is now standing in front of you and demands his cuddles. He really doesn´t care if he´s making someone else uncomfortable, he needs to recharge his y/n batteries right now! Actually might just throw himself at you even before you agreed to anything.

Rei says it like a grandpa would ask their grandchild at a family reunion when they try to run off after getting their presents. He´s so offended too if you refuse him and might just pull you in his coffin with him so you two can stay bundled up together for a while. Would have been easier if you had just given him his hug from the very beginning, right?

Leo I feel is very similar to Ritsu in that regard but he also just throws himself at you on sight so is there really any point in asking in the first place if he´s already wrapping his arms around you? He´s just big on hugging you in general so expect this to be a regular occurrence

Chiaki already likes showing his affection to his unit mates so of course that also counts for you! He wants to show you how passionate he is about you so he´s also a really big hugger with you. I feel with him, saying “where´s my hug at” has a different vibe than say, with Tori. Chiaki says it while laughing heartily and so you´re probably more likely to indulge him a bit.

Omg, I almost forgot but I swear Kaoru would say that without any sort of shame! He´s so flirty with you, it´s almost overwhelming and so he would love to touch you as much as possible! Just, unbelievably touchy. He would think he´s being so smooth and slick about it too 💀 He really thinks he did something there

When we´re already talking about yanderes that love teasing you and act like they´re all cool and stuff when they´re actually kind of pathetic, let´s also include Natsume in this list! Please, he already calls the player “kitten” of all things in-game, he would say this and you know it. You may not want to accept it but he would say that with a smirk on his face and think he´s sooo charming about it and that there´s no way you will refuse.

I am Chiaki Nanami, the former Ultimate Gamer and now a member of Future Foundation, 14th division. Currently, I'm doing a few side quests. Most of which are locating and rescuing survivors, as well as calming down everyone that's temporarily living in the 'safe houses' the Future Foundation has set up. My main quest however...

Is to locate and save the Remnants of Despair behind my organisations back. I guess this is treason, but I can't stand the thought of having my former classmates and friends mercilessly slaughtered. Chiaki is snapped out of her thoughts by the ringing of her cellphone. "H-Hello? This is Ryota Mitarai, a member of the 10th division. Is this Chiaki Nanami?" Ah, it's Mitarai-kun. "...Yes, this is Chiaki Nanami. What are you calling for?" There's a pause and a bit of rustling coming from the other end of the phone. "Ah, um, are you... alone right now? I-I have some... confidential stuff to talk with you about. I'd rather not risk the wrong person overhearing..."

She quickly looked around to make sure she's really alone before responding, "...Yeah, it's just me. I know what you want to talk about... I think." An audible sigh could be heard from Ryotas end. "O-oh! Tha-that's good... I guess I don't need to explain myself then?" Chiaki made to nod before realizing he can't see her. "...Yep. It's about the Remnants, right? You don't want them to get hurt, either... right?"

"Y-yeah... I d-didn't know them all as well as you did but... E-everyone I did meet where all... wonderful and nice people... m-mostly..." His voice trailed off at the end, but... Chiaki knew what he meant. Tsumiki-san... "...And I... I want t-to... make up for everything I've done. I-it's all... a-all my fa-fault a-any-nywa-way-" No longer able to keep it together, he broke out into sobs. "...Mitarai-kun. It's okay, it's not your fault. Enoshima-san made you do it, right? So she's the one who did wrong." Comforting -or dealing with emotions in general- has never been Chiaki's strong suit. Because of that, she even struggles with dating simulators or any game that relies on reading social cues and the emotions of the characters despite her title of 'Ultimate Gamer'.

Ryota had a long pause, the only sound from his end being the quiet sobs he couldn't stifle. "...M-moving on... I called you because I... found some intel on Remnant action. Two of them have reportedly been seen lurking around close to the ruins of Hope's Peak Academy." Around Hope's Peak...? That's where I'm at, too... "I-I'm afraid I don't know which ones though... If you plan to search for them you should be careful. T-the reports say they don't seem to be doing much, but they're p-probably just waiting for the perfect time to strike."

"...Do you have any specifics of where they frequent? It's gonna be tough to search the entire surrounding area for just two people."

"U-um, well, o-one of them seem to be staying c-close to the school... They don't seem to wander around much. N-not to the point it's been noticed at least... As for the other one... Let me see... Oh! Looks like they commonly lurk about the Reserve Course department and some of the nearby housings." The Reserve Course department? Is it... Hi- ah, Kamukura-kun...? If it is, I need to find him quick. ...Oh, but... Since he's not brainwashed, saving him might be difficult... Hi- Kamukura-kun is the first one, and probably the strongest one too... He's totally the 'final boss' of the Remnants. Oh wait, Enoshima-san should be the final one... Guess Kamukura-kun would be the second-to-final boss, then... Or maybe third? There's Ikusaba-san too, after all...

"...Um... Nanami-san?" Snapped out of her internal final boss rant, she remembered she was, in fact, still in a phone call. "...Oh, sorry. I was thinking." Ryota awkwardly laughed. "Ah, um, it's fine... W-was my intel helpful?" Having to stop herself from nodding again, she settled for a simple, "Mhm. Very helpful. I'll head out to look for them soon, since I'm in that area anyway." Chiaki felt a chill suddenly run up her spine. She could feel eyes on her. "...Actually, I should head out right now."

"R-right now? Isn't it a bit too dark out...?"

"Yep. Right now. Gottagobye-"

"Nana-!" She hung up. The feeling of being watched is never pleasant, and it's even worse when you're speaking about delicate topics in hostile enviourments. The eyes never seemed to stray from her even as she got up and went ahead on her search.

As unpleasant as it was, she got the feeling whoevers watching her didn't mean her any harm.

Knowing Byakuya, he'd probably realize that it would be more insufferable to release said game in an unfinished character-assassinating state.

That is a good point. Now I'm imagining he takes the time to give himself a crash course on the nature of the hype around the game, just so he can make sure all of the anticipated mechanics are buggy and none of the anticipated lore is conclusive, consistent, or interesting.

And the in-universe video game discourse community starts making conspiracy/rant/game theory type videos about how Togami Corp put pressure on the video game company, how the heir to the Togami Corporation goes to school with the Ultimate Gamer whose online presence had been very focused on the upcoming game for a while, and if you look in the background of this other Hope's Peak student's Instagram, you see the Ultimate Gamer holding hands with this random brown-haired guy, who three months ago was seen having dinner with Togami.

They start calling it Rebound Theory: the theory that the game sucks because the Ultimate Affluent Progeny's ex-boyfriend rebounded with the Ultimate Gamer. A lot of people think it sounds silly/stupid, but there are some passionate advocates. Chiaki is asked to confirm or deny, but she doesn't because that would violate her Hope's Peak NDA (which is the same thing keeping anyone from reporting Genocider Syo to the police).

People find Makoto's social media– which he barely uses, and when he does, he mostly talks to people he knows in real life and posts about how much he likes the new season of (popular show) or the new album from (popular musician). Going through his liked posts leads people to Nagito's account, and Nagito has posted a picture of himself sitting on Makoto's lap with his arms around him, so case closed, right? The brown-haired guy is not dating the Ultimate Gamer. Except! The person sitting right next to them– and you can pretty much only see her shoulder, arm, and hand –has the same haircut as the Ultimate Gamer (if you zoom into the very edge of the picture), her nails are painted the same color hers were in her last stream, and she's wearing brown-haired-guy's green hoodie from the hand-holding photo. So, if the white-haired guy is dating the brown-haired guy, why is the Ultimate Gamer wearing his hoodie?

People comment on the photo, "Is he your boyfriend?" and Nagito just likes the comment and doesn't respond. There are those who argue that's a yes, but more people find it inconclusive.

One day, Chiaki is streaming an LP of the very game that started all of this, and Makoto walks into the room. The chat loses their minds. "BROWN-HAIRED GUY!" "REBOUND THEORY!!"

Chiaki, without breaking focus on the game she's playing, calmly tells him, "I'm live."

"Oh! Sorry, I'll come back later."

"No. Come here."

They end up spending the rest of the stream with him standing behind her chair with his arms around her, periodically feeding her snacks and water.

Chat is like, "Reboundtheoryreboundtheoryreboundtheory!!!!!!", and Byakuya receives an influx of social media engagement just asking him for his response to Chiaki's stream, and whether he's seen it, etc. He ignores the comments, but he does go to see what they're talking about.

After watching the stream, he sends an email, and the next day, it is announced that a popular game (from the same company) which never got a sequel, despite high demand for one, is now getting a sequel. The game's fans are extremely excited, and even those who know about the disastrous release of that other game are tentatively optimistic...except Chiaki, and those deep enough into Rebound Theory to correctly see this as a reaction to yesterday's stream, are filled with dread.

Veiled Hope (Beta: H.O.P.E) Concept art below

‹long post be warned (If you don't feel well to touch on subjects like death, corpses even if with not much detail I recomend watching after yourself and maybe pass this post for another time!)

For starters Veiled Hope was supposed to be called "H.O.P.E" or "E.S.P.E.R.A.N.Ç.A" As in the portuguese script I wrote for it, the "Veiled" part came from another work called "Veiled Shadows" which fused with H.O.P.E; One more reason for the name was because it was fully focused on Izuru after the Hope cultivation program jumping the entire part of the DESPAIR arc

Izuru's uniform is the same as Hajime's right now the only difference was the symbols being green spades rather than light-red diamonds (Notes from the images above: Always keep the card theme between Nagito, Hajime, and Chiaki, possibly could work with Makoto/Mitarai in the end but not when they don't know both his identity yet)‹ this is not followed anymore

[He was still Ryota Mitarai/Ryota Nanami instead of Mitarai Nanami, the change was because it just sounded way better and it flowed like a feather.]

Yasuke alive and well even after Junko took his life for unknown reasons I put as "Later but related to Hope's peak academy and the Future Foundation"⟩ if I followed I would probably blame the Ultimate Pharmacist and her magic medicine or the same thing that Kyoko used to jump back from the dead.

He also has lobotomy marks, I put his state as "Depression, Delusion, Dependent all with extra steps"

His design would be only Yasuke in a Black and white suit probably something relating to Monokuma as a callout for Junko somewhat in the design, the only note in specific is make the sole of his shoes reflect the weird red eye on Monokuma/ half of the Hope's peak symbol under the sole of his shoes.

Mahiru! Her redesign as the Ultimate despair, all smiles. All the Ultimate despairs received redesigns but the starter ones were way more brutal like Mahiru's (She used to have way more teeth than she is supposed to, that was to reflect the smile dillema and fuse it with despair) and Servant's (After Another Episode he had to amputate one of his legs due an infection and the injury was way more gorey than it should {Removed})

Makoto sick with despair after seeing the first chapter of Super Dangaronpa 2, He couldn't get a hold of reality as the security system was locked (Flooded by the Junko AI). Byakuya taking his duty of watching the Killing game instead when Kyoko tried to figure out how the Virus got there filling everyone involved in their Seniors with serious distrust.

I was thinking on making this longer bit actually this is everything giving no spoilers for the story at all, mostly just removed content and some character designs with unused descriptions. I'll probably do it again when I finish completely, I can't tell how long it will take probably years 1-2 however it could be probably so worth it and I'll fight as long as I can

Wdyt about zakuro and Mizuki personality growth?

Also, it is a simple light ask, do you think that each cast's childhood will show some light about black card and such? I just read 20th Century Boys and it is about children making silly little conspiracies and at adult, realizes they screwed up because few children back then made that conspiracy come true.

Zakuro has not changed since he entered Starless. In fact, if anything, he is shown in a crazier light. In one of the main story chapters, Zakuro fell down the stairs and laughed like a maniac. The whole incident freaked Kasumi - someone who is very calm and composed - out. Seeing Kasumi like this even stunned Sotetsu. The next day, Zakuro seemed fine, even though Kasumi clearly saw he wasn't okay.

There are a lot of theories floating around about this, including but not limited to Zakuro being a clone, having an evil twin, and Zakuro not even being Zakuro and being someone else. Also, some fans and some cast members feel like Zakuro is lying about his memory loss. Oh, and let's not forget him trying to get Yoshino to go to some weird therapy session.

Mizuki's character has developed more since the beginning. He was a childish, out-of-control, but sweet brat. He was never serious about his practice with Team P, considering his hatred towards Rindou. Why he hates Rindou, we have yet to find out. After the development of Team B, he seemed to settle down a little. Before, he didn't care much about others, except Kokuyou, but after the creation of Team B, he started developing a caring side. Team B is like his family; if he senses a threat to his family, he will be ready to go to war.

Saying all this, in the recent B chapters, we see that Mizuki has a long way to go in terms of maturity. His possessiveness towards Team B tends to draw out his childish side. Rico has to step in and make the necessary decisions when this happens.

Theories under the cut - mentions of dark themes.

There are so many theories about Black Card, and with Donuts not giving enough information, we honestly don't know who or what the organization is. Relating to their childhood and the breadcrumbs Donuts provided, there might be a connection between some characters' childhood and Black Card. Here are some of the theories:

The members of Starless were orphans, and they were sold to the black market as kids. Some of them manage to escape, namely, Kei, which is why Heath is angry at him. Heath thinks Kei abandoned him and MC. At that time, Kei would be 9 years old, and Heath would be 5-6 years old. This is a little weird for me to wrap my head around because for a young child to remember something so concrete doesn't make sense. Also, Kei only returned to Japan at the age of 24. So it's not even like they had contacted each other during that timeframe.

Another theory suggests that some characters have their memories wiped, and the key to the memories is the Black Card. Technically, this is not a fan theory, as it is hinted at in the game. Why they lost their memories or how we don't know. But we know that the original BlackStar soundtrack has some connection to the character's memories, namely, MC's memories. Something interesting I want to point out - whenever people ask Kokuyou about his scar, he says he doesn't remember and prefers not to. This could mean he doesn't remember his past. Another piece of information to back this up is that Kokuyou's dog tag says Chiaki Takamori, and MC might be Chiaki or have some connection to them. The odd part about this, Heath and Kei both know Chiaki, yet they have not acknowledged his dog tag (or they might already know and not want to acknowledge it).

Another interesting theory is that Black Card might not be an evil organization. For all we know, Kei or his parents could have created it. Some people want to get their hands on a Black Card to know to be part of the organization. Donuts could totally be playing us by making players think Black Card is bad. It makes more sense if it was a bad organization, but who knows.

As for the childhood conspiracies and making them come true. Yeah, it could be possible. Kokuyou could have done something as a child and got injured as a result and possibly lost Chiaki. Kei could have messed up and caused problems for the other kids. Heath could have done something purely out of anger. Theater Starless has a lot of mysteries, and anything - I mean anything - is possible.

Teruteru is practically perfect, believe it or not. You’ll find out that the worst thing about him though is his lack of honesty, since he does not like you worrying about him he never tells you his troubles.

Mahiru is also pretty much perfect cuz I’m biased and she’s my wife. However, she tends to be a bit of a mom. This can be a good thing, but also a bad thing. She nags you way more than moms normally do, way past the point of annoyance. She tries not to be too much, but it can surprisingly be overwhelming how much she nags you to do things. This is only a problem though if you’re the forgetful or lazy type.

Peko is always busy. She wants to keep you safe, but she also wants to keep her young master safe. As a result, she stays away from you in hopes enemies will be less likely to find you, and she can still protect fuyuhiko. She does this out of love, but it’s so much time away from her.

Ibuki is pretty much perfect as well lol. The worst thing I can say about her is that she tends to wake you up at ungodly hours because of her music, or just because she was looking at something and laughed lol. She doesn’t rlly have much regard for your sleep unless you really need it.

Hiyoko tends to be mean, which you know. However, she has no regard for who she’s mean to, she’s mean to your friends and even to some of your family members. She respects your parents at least, but cousins, siblings, etc are not respected the same way and that can be upsetting.

Mikan is obsessive. She tries not to be, but she isn’t used to being in a relationship. She tells you to be please let her know if she’s being too much, because she’s all too aware she isn’t exactly normal about her adoration for you. But it’s just so hard to say something to her without feeling bad…

Nekomaru tries to force you into things a lot. If you’re the lazy type he tries to encourage you to workout a lot and the thought is nice but if you don’t want to do it he won’t stop until you agree. He’s doing it out of love but he’s way too pushy.

Gundham rarely opens up, he will but it’s rare. Sometimes it just feels like he doesn’t trust you. And he seems to like your physical affection, even vocal affection but seems to push away from it and reluctantly returns it. It may feel like he doesn’t like you back at times, but he’s just extremely shy.

Nagitos self loathing. Trying to help him through it is not only a struggle it is exhausting and even draining to deal with at times due to the negativity and how constant it is. He’s aware of it too, which only makes it worse.

Chiaki seems more invested in video games than you at times, she doesn’t mean it she is just autistic and her special interest is video games lol. It’s hard to realize at times though since video games are most of your conversations, it’s hard to think she’s interested in you.

Akane is always getting herself hurt and it just feels like you’re constantly looking after her and making sure she’s not getting into trouble. You’re supposed to be her s/o not her babysitter.

Sonia can make you jealous without realizing it. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem in itself but it’s so constant. Between her obliviousness to souda and how much she compliments gundham it’s hard to believe she even likes you at times or cares about how you feel.

Souda is a bit of a .. perv… too much at times. We know how creepy he was around sonia so .. yeah. Not the best feature to have all things considered but you love him for him. He’s just a big creep.

Fuyuhiko has bad connections for obvious reasons lol, it makes you more in danger. While you’re willing to make that sacrifice to be with him, it’s terrifying some nights knowing fuyuhiko may have to wake you up and force you outta the house because some guys are onto you.

Hajime isn’t as bad as nagito in terms of self loathing, but you’ll find his worst trait is also that. It can be exhausting at times but he does try to find some positivity in his life so it isn’t as bad.

There are two reasons for why 2-6 is the strongest conclusion of the series. I'm going to talk about the second in a bit. But the first is the much more complex and personal nature of the dilemma faced by Hajime and the Remnants.

By putting us in Hajime's shoes over Makoto's, and by layering his situation with all the complexities that 2-6 brings out, the game manages to create a very complicated dilemma that muddies the question of what our protagonist should even do.

This is the game's ultimate expression of its central theme of sacrifice, which has been filtered through case after case after case. Here, at the 11th hour, Junko reveals the true nature of the choice that Makoto is urging Hajime to make.

If Junko wins, the world is fucked.

If Makoto wins, the Remnants are fucked. Especially Hajime.

This is well and truly a final exam for the rehabilitative journey that the Remnants have been on. One not about who they could become but rather about who they could have been, had they not been seduced into Junko's way of thinking.

The Remnants have been given a new lease on life. And now Makoto is asking for them to give it back. In a sense, he's asking them to die. To accept the dissolution of these new personas they've been allowed to make for themselves and to return to the ugly truth of who they've been.

This plays heavily on the interplay between hope and despair that the first game talked about. The way the two aren't opposites necessarily, but interconnected, weaving back and forth among one another. Ultimate Despair Junko Enoshima must be stopped in the name of Hope, but the very thing that Makoto's Hope would have the Remnants do is itself a source of profound Despair.

It backs us into a very hard corner where. Like. Fuck Junko. But also? Kinda... fuck Makoto too. Both of these options suck. It takes a huge leap of faith, not in Makoto or in Hope but in Hajime himself, to ultimately come forward and make the sacrifice that Makoto's asking for.

It is a masterful feat of writing that, after everything we already know about her, we can listen to Junko explain things to the Remnants and go, "You know? She's... she's actually making some good points. I kinda want to hear what Model Satan has to say."

DR1 did a pretty good job with the "Will you exit into an apocalyptic world and hope for the best or stay here and be comfortable?" option, but DR2's "Please let me strangle the good in you so that a greater evil doesn't escape with you," hits so much harder.

And that, in turn, makes Hajime's Super Saiyan 2 transformation when Chiaki teaches him to screw everyone and make his own future that much more triumphant.

Sorry, only messaging on anon cause I can’t send an ask on the right account but, I mean I totally get what you’re saying about Komaeda as a whole but I think some things are being overlooked. For one, in regards to his actions in well, the whole story really, I have to present a question. Do we hold children accountable for their actions? Yes, to a point, but we also acknowledge that their brains aren't developed and there are certain processes that they are quite literally incapable of. The same can be said of Komaeda. His brain is literally deteriorating, which in a way could be akin to a child with an undeveloped brain, and the parts that get damaged first in most cases of FTD are all parts of the brain that have to do with moral judgement. specifically the ability to recognize something as morally right or wrong, ability to recognize whats socially appropriate, and ability to empathize (this is all just mostly the ventromedial cortex, so there are countless other symptoms that come into play but) as well as an increasing loss of self awareness. If he were just mentally ill, i would agree that his actions are definitely his fault and his own but in this case, it's much trickier. is a person whose brain is literally deteriorating someone we should consider a moral agent? is this someone in control of themselves enough to be accountable for their actions in full? i wouldn't say so.

but also another thing is that i personally love chiaki, and i have no issues with hinami but i also think its odd that you're anti komahina. like, i mean there are ships im less fond of or that i even think would be better/worse than others but i dont see why if its not the one you like most that you need to reject it entirely. the only times i think thats really necessary is in cases of shipping abusers with their victims or ships thats are problematic i.e. age difference. beyond that, isnt it just easier to idk man…. accept that you’re not gonna agree with every ship you see? Just an observation.

I hear and I get what you are trying to say but I think you fail to get a few things while yes his dementia influences his actions to some degree it’s also due to his obsession with and as nagito said he doesn’t mind killing or being killed if it’s for the sake of hope and while his dementia does affect his perception a bit it’s not enough considering he’s one of the most perceptive characters in the game considering he’s the one who usually has it all figured out so I don’t think the comparison to a child really works with a character like him and if he’s at least aware enough to have a distinct sense of right and wrong(regardless of how screwed up it is) I do think that is enough to be held accountable

If you want to know it’s mostly because I find the ship to be toxic and the fans to be annoying (Everytime I criticize nagito’s actions guess how many fans are in the inbox or comment section are there it’s a pain I tell you) and I was annoyed at all the dr3 Chiaki hate plus hinanami hate (seriously if someone gripes about how despair arc forgot komahina again I’m gonna scream)

So I sort of decided that i should return the favor now I understand that there are worse ships out of there but none of their fans have ever given me a reason to go after them (unlike most komahina fans)

And because nagito’s treatment of hajime in chapter 4 and 5 just bugs me

Because while nagito doesn’t act like fuyuhiko(pre chapter 2) or hiyoko during this time what makes it bugs me is who he’s saying it to

Hajime is someone very insecure about himself and struggles with his self worth due to his lack of talent and very much doesn’t like having his insecurities touched at

So to see someone who supposedly loves him call him worthless And make him out to be dead weight just bugs me

And unlike Souda or toko who both get off on this kind of treatment hajime doesn’t not enjoy it

So it just annoys and disturbs me
