watcher tried to pivot to their own service to break free from the dogshit megacorp google and have the creative freedom to not make advertiser friendly content. they wanted to grow as a studio and make more stuff of the same or higher quality for the people who wanted it and not for the companies that make them bloat their shows with ad breaks where they have to shill stupid trash to their fans.

having to grovel and go back on their transition to their website means that the website is essentially defunct. there is no reason to join it if videos are going to be free on youtube later.

not only was this disgusting fan reaction uncalled for, it must have annihilated everyone at watcher's morale. especially considering they made the change to maintain their studio size and quality and employee wage.

if you think this is a win for anyone you're out of your mind.
