This has basically just become like a junk drawer blog. Recently the only parts of my practice I do often is working with my tarot decks and pendulum, and cooking.

me when i realize. i can worship deities without 100% believing in them because the concept of them and things they represent are real either way

Hello! I'm very new to the idea of The Satanic Temple and looking more into crystals and tarot readings. I've always believed in a magic energy and universal pulls. not so much a "higher being" like in most religions.
family was extremely catholic but i never believed any of that and moved onto other beliefs. im coming from Won Buddhism for its real world reach of ur own enlightenment which i do still believe.
any tips/advice on getting newly acquainted? should i look into other things besides the satanic temple? sry for the long ask!
I'm not a member of TST and I personally don't think very highly of them (excluding their sober faction) due to the founder's history of having white supremacist ties and opinions. I originally identified as a Laveyan Satanist starting out.
From my understanding, TST is purely atheistic and generally rejects all magic energies, crystal powers, witchcraft, etc. and anything that isn't firmly rooted in science, but I've met people who blend magic and witchcraft with TST beliefs just fine, so you do you.
Other branches to explore:
- Church of Satan/Laveyan Satanism (atheistic, but magic is acknowledged and encouraged) (most people would recommend The Satanic Bible as a starting point for reading)
- Temple of Set
- agnostic/theistic Satanism (authors Marie Ravensoul, Rev. Cain are good)
- Chaos Gnosticism (my beliefs would align somewhat with this)
- Luciferianism (can be atheistic, agnostic, or theistic) (focus on enlightenment, knowledge, personal growth)
- Demonolatry (theistic) (I use the demonolatry tarot deck Occult Tarot by Travis McHenry)
- Christian based duotheism/polytheism (generally theistic, but can be atheistic. There aren't rules to what you have to believe)
- Reactive Satanism (again, generally accepted as theistic/agnostic, but anything goes)
- Transcendental Satanism (this might be good if you're coming from a Buddhist perspective and wanting to maintain that aspect, although I've never personally looked much into it or read the book. All I know is an adult film director invented it in a dream)
Avoid (extreme right wing/neonazi):
- Order of Nine Angles
- Joy Of Satan
Crystal/tarot books:
'The Crystal Bible' 1, 2 and 3 are good, also 'The Book of Stones: Who They Are & What They Teach' (A recent addition to my collection which has proven to be quite helpful). 'The Ultimate Guide to The Rider Waite Tarot'

I'm still figuring out my beliefs but I consider myself an agnostic pagan witch. I don't know if I believe in the supernatural or deities as literal entities or not. I lean towards yes, at least to some extent, but due to how my brain works I'm just never going to be 100% unless I get some sort of evidence in the affirmative (I don't think there's really a way to definitively prove they don't exist). This really got in the way of my practice for many years because I was constantly second guessing. In a lot of magical systems belief is step one and any doubt will keep it from working.
However, a few months ago I found Sedna Woo's channel on Youtube and she introduced me to a new way of thinking of it. My current philosophy is that it doesn't matter if my witchcraft is a placebo or if there is at least a partial supernatural explanation, if it works it works. It doesn't matter if deities are literal individual entities (the explanation I would like to be true), facets of a whole, or figments of my imagination if I derive comfort from worshiping them. Could change if I ever receive unmistakable signs or communication, but I am trying to accept that in all likelihood that will not be something I ever experience.

We are hoping to do most of a promotional push this year for CritWitchCon and our free Witches' Brews by @criticalthinkingwitches this year. We suspect there are more critical thinking witches, pagans, and curious folks that didn't know they needed or were interested in what we are doing.
I guess in the past we had expected more pushback from the general witch community, but it hasn't happened. We are gearing up for our 4th CritWitchCon and trying to think of ways to reach out to folks who might be interested in what we are doing. We have some leads but any other thoughts would be great. Let me know if you have any ideas.
Also, if you have any specific questions about the Critical Thinking Witch Collective you can send me an ask or message me privately and I'll see what I can do about getting a collective answer for you.

hey! I hope you're doing well!
So for context, two years ago was the first time when I felt the urge to dabble in witchcraft and try to listen to my intuition, I started with small spell works, astrology and tarot. But due to some other reasons, i guess i placed too much importance on achieving stuff through spirituality rather than putting in my part, but i feel like i lost my faith. And even before wanting to practice witchcraft i was an agnostic, so my faith was lost very easily ig.
Now my question is, i wanted to get back into witchcraft because i can't deny that it feels like a part of me, i want to be able to have faith again, but i don't know where to start? And then there's other people who have made me feel like I'm less relevant or stupid for having such beliefs....
You don't need to answer anything but i would love it if you could....
Hope you have a nice week!!
Hi friend! Thanks for the ask, I really appreciate it.
I want to start off by saying this is incredibly relatable. Even though it's not necessarily talked about a lot, I think most people in the witchcraft community can say that they've lost faith in their beliefs and/or witchcraft at one point. You're definitely not alone in the feeling.
Now obviously, I don't know your preferred witchcraft practice and I don't fully know your belief system so please take this advice with a grain of salt. What I think you should start with is just asking for a sign. Ask for some angel numbers or another symbol or animal that feels relevant to you. It's easier to feel gain trust, faith and comfort when you have some concrete experience to build off.
Once you feel comfortable, I think it would be good for you to unpack why you lost faith and why you stopped practicing witchcraft. Dedicate some time to just write down all of your thoughts. they don't have to be coherent. You just need to get them out. And make sure you don't feel guilty about losing faith or pausing your witchcraft practice. As an additional question, why does what other people think of your beliefs effect you?
Next, personally, I would write down all things you used to do in your witchcraft practice that made you feel happy and content. What were your favourite parts of your practice? Start there. Do maybe 1 or 2 small things every few days or every week or so. The goal of this is just get you into the grove of practicing again, to help you feel connected to your craft. It's to help remind you why you practice witchcraft and to show that even the small practices can be fulfilling. This way you don't feel like you need to go straight back to putting a lot of weight on achieving these crazy workings.
Also, I just wanted to quickly touch on something you said specifically, "even before wanting to practice witchcraft i was an agnostic, so my faith was lost very easily ig". Being agnostic does not make your faith any weaker than anyone else's. I'm not sure if that was the intention behind that sentence but I wanted to mention it. You're not more likely to loose faith if you're agnostic. It's the same likelihood as everyone else.
Hopefully this is a nice jumping off point for you! I hope this helped! Have a lovely day :)

This is a really good video by Sedna Woo to help out atheist/agnostic/secular witches out. The rest of the channel seems to have some really great topics as well, I will be checking her out.

For any of my witches out there. I’m thinking about getting into Scottish folk magic. My last name is Scottish so I’m assuming we’re from there somehow.
I don’t know what resources are good. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
