"Enter The Prince"

Sincline's ship circled the castle and ended up hovering in front of a large floor to ceiling window. "Inhabitants of Castle Gradam, listen carefully! I am Prince Imperial Sincline of the Galra Empire...heir of Emperor Daibazaal!"

During the last part of his speech, the pilots rushed to the window. Tsuyoshi was first, followed by Isamu, then Akira with Hiroshi right behind her, and Fala bringing up the rear. The princess stepped up beside Akira.

Sincline gasped at the princess. "Who's that pretty woman?"

Fala and Akira looked at each other, wordlessly asking who the prince was asking about. Akira cocked her head in Sincline's direction before minutely nodding in Fala's direction. Fala mouthed "me?" before shaking her head. "You."

Akira shook her head. "He's not asking about me, hime."

"But you /are/ beautiful," Fala replied with a blush.

Isamu was enjoying the back and forth between Akira and Fala, but he kept an eye on this Sincline character. Being a prince meant that he probably wouldn't take kindly to being ignored much longer.

The Original Voltron Adaptations Vs Their Original Japanese Counterparts.

Beast King Go-Lion:

Go-Lion/Voltron's backstory is that he got split due to his hubris after thinking he could take on the space goddess.

Voltron is a sentient being who lived long before time.

Voltron's title is king of the beasts.

All the pilots, save Fala/Allura, are from Earth.

All the boys are effectively in the same boat as VLD Shiro and have the gladiator backstory.

Earth is dead and gone, consumed by World War 3 by the start of the show.

Allura is canonically 16.

Raible/Coran's a strategist.

Altea/Arus's people were assumed to all be destroyed (especially the royal family), but they're all hiding out.

Allura's parents and siblings are executed by Daibazaal/Zarkon's hand while she was a year old baby. Zarkon didn't know she existed.

Hiroshi Suzuishi/Pidge is descended from Ninja.

There's so much blood and gore. People get cut in half vertically and horizontally. We get the privilege of watching people drop dead on screen with these horrifying faces and screams. Zarkon and Sincline/Lotor drink blood, too.

Honerva/Haggar has this bs called occult science.

Akira Kogane/Keith and Allura are so slowburn to the point it might not exist between them.

King Raimon/Alfor's ghost comes back from the grave to tell the paladins how much they suck.

Pidge threatens to eat the space mice twice.

Shirogane Takashi/Sven dies and and a later episode introduces his younger brother, Ryou/Sven, who was captured as a slave among others before Earth was fully destroyed.

Cannibalism

A tragic side character commits suicide at the end of an episode

Amue/Romelle's older brother is willingly turned into a robeast. Her older brother and father are both murdered by the Galra during a battle with Voltron.

Earth is completely destroyed and uninhabitable. The boys become honorary citizens of Arus.

A scene depicting Pidge's mother shows her seeing him off his mission. It's the last time he sees her.

Lotor has a dream about his mother where it suggests Zarkon had a hand in her disappearance. A flashback occurs showing us she was a good person and was killed for moral differences.

Coran's son, Saint/Garret, died as an infant while he and his mother were escaping from the castle. They are buried by a local group of people. The Galra dig up this grave to clone him.

Hys/Nanny is shot by Garret and dies.

A father-daughter bond is implied between Coran and Allura when the latter comforts the former after the Garret incident.

The Galran foot soldiers are living beings.

Romelle almost died via firing squad.

One notable robeast involved a snake like being who survived a civil massacre amongst her people and was introduced burying her deceased child. She adopts Pidge within the same episode. She dies at the end from blood loss.

Another notable side character was a sand person. Allura befriends this one by giving it her bracelet. The sand person is turned into a robeast. It's implied the sand person dies at the end, though it is unclear why.

During the final battle, Lotor sends out trapped prisoners in bubbles as bombs so Voltron can't move without killing them. Lotor also shoots them as missles. Haggar also shoots at the prisoners so Voltron can move and end Lotor's career.

Haggar's motive in helping Voltron lies in that Lotor killed Zarkon.

Haggar is Zarkon's mother.

Ryou dies fighting Lotor.

Honerva dies. Zarkon dies. Lotor dies.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe:

"We don't need clothes." Keith, 1984.

Arus is still alive, they just get attacked.

Voltron's backstory is that Haggar disguised herself as said space goddess and wrecked Voltron into five pieces.

Coran's a diplomat.

Voltron's title is King of the Robots

Galaxy Garrison exists here.

Allura grew up an only child and seldom saw her parents because they were busy.

Sven is severely injured and is, instead, sent to another planet to recuperate, but gets captured as a slave on planet Doom and thinks he's crazy.

Zarkon disrespects Haggar likes it's nobody's business.

King Alfor built Voltron.

Zarkon has a nephew

Pidge has a sister who's stated to be training as a pilot.

That same tragic side character is said to have returned to her home planet offscreen

Romelle's older brother is willingly turned into a robeast. He swims out to see in the middle of a battle with Voltron. Romelle's father in consequence goes mad and is implied to have died as a result.

Balto is ravaged by Lotor's forces. Pidge becomes an honourary citizen of Arus.

Pidge is an orphan and the scene of his mother depicts his adoption

Lotor has a dream about Allura instead. Allura's nightmare shows us she's afraid of Zarkon.

Doom/Drule council.

Coran's son, Garret, and his wife are said to be alive in another dimension they were beamed to when the Galra attacked them. The clone is robotic like.

Allura when comforting Coran after the Garret incident, calls him a good man.

Lance is a country boy.

The Doom foot soldiers are robots.

Romelle was sentenced to be shot by a firing squad with stun guns.

Lotor and Haggar look for a new robeast victim among the Medusans. Audibly noting that they're all in a deep rest. That Medusan lady chooses to adopt Pidge. She also gets hurt, but it's implied she lives.

The episode about the sand people goes relatively the same way. However, the sand person is stated to be exhausted, but alive.

Sven is injured and sent back to planet Pollux to heal.

During the final battle, Lotor sends out robots in bubbles to trap Voltron. Keith can't move him because the bombs would blow up in their face. Lotor shoots them as missiles. Haggar shoots them down so Voltron can end Lotor's career.

Zarkon lives. Haggar lives. Lotor lives.

Pidge has a brother, Chip.

The same:

The Robeasts sometimes have unique tits (long, metallic, and spiky).

Lotor has three different kinds of chins and noses he alternates between.

Allura's only living relative is her aunt.

The show begins with a strong theme linked to the lifestyle and aspirations of young sailors staking their life on the sea.

The Galaxy Alliance's goal is to create a star map of the universe, explore planets, and potentially colonize one.

Shinji Ise/Commander Hawkins is unsure if there are any lifeforms other than the three species in the Galaxy Alliance.

There are three planets in the Galaxy Alliance: Earth, Mira, and Sala.

Krik on his shift as commander simply orders the teams to head to their vehicles.

Lisa and Chip are childhood friends. They were in the same class in juvenile school, and they trained together at the space fortress.

Kazuto Nagato/Hutch and Tasuku Izu/Marvin insult the three girls. They're mad because Kai Shinobu/Rocky previously talked about Emma/Twyla continuously, whilst Hutch says he grows tired of the three. Ginger trips Hutch and he cries.

Commander Twyla dies.

The crew of the Space Explorer play rugby with a squad of Galra soldiers. They all die.

Both the buck and the fawn die.

The two dolphins die. One was a calf. The mother swims head on to a bomb.

Ginger is grievously injured, and is piloting her machine while fighting off sleep medication. She is dedicated to fighting by her team.

Hazar hesitates to land a killing blow and his gun is shot from his hand. Dorma shoots the body guard and in pain he shoots about wildly, accidentally striking Emperor Corsair/Zeppo - who dies.

The date by the time of the Drule evacuation is Feb 9 in the space year 2203.

Commander Newley agrees the Drules should have the third planet of the 26 system as they have nowhere to go.

Commander Hazar is assassinated by three Galveston soldiers. One of whom is Sandu's younger brother.

Jeff gives Lisa's necklace to Hazar's corpse.

Voltron: Defender of The Universe - Vehicle:

The Galaxy Garrison's motive is to find a second planet because Earth is suffering overpopulation.

It's implied the Vehicle Team and crew already encountered Hazar. He is described as a pirate.

The Vehicle Force call themselves the Voltron Force.

The Vehicle Force can only stay combined for five minutes.

Lisa is implied go be an alien.

Wolo's planet has seven moons.

There is a spy aboard the Galaxy Cruiser for the Drules. This is never touched upon again.

The food is crap.

Krik's from a water planet and it was at one point saved by Voltron.

Krik has ESP abilities.

The Drule have a confirmed child soldier among their ranks.

Shannon's brother was taken prisoner and is currently being held on Planet Doom.

Commander Hawkins pours hot chocolate from kettles.

Wolo's brother is implied to have survived the encounter with the beast.

The Drule are searching for a new planet due to a transient sun while the Galaxy Garrison are searching due to overpopulation.

Commander Hawkins and Jeff's relationship is funnier than it needs to be.

Ginger got run over twice by joggers.

Lisa invented a carrot and cabbage cocktail she calls 'C & C'.

Pidge and Chip are twins.

Jeff's favourite food is spaghetti.

Jeff has been intentionally skipping Professor Page's plant seminars.

We see Krik's family photo.

Hazar and Dorma are brother sister and he has a good relationship with her.

Commander Nerok escapes in an escape shuttle.

The crew drinks hot chocolate in their downtime.

Earth gets attacked and wins against the Drule.

Ginger brought an unknown plant seed aboard ship and is growing a small plant.

Jeff explains a learned philosophical viewpoint to Commander Hawkins, and the latter's answer is that Jeff would make a great politician.

Lisa bought a good luck charm from a wizard on Planet Korb*. Jeff doesn't believe in that, but he wears the necklace the following episode.

Kernel Kerbert* and his crew survive by fleeing in escape ships.

Jeff has a dog named Rover. He named a planet after said dog, an idea Commander Hawkins shoots down.

Krik's father bought another hydro bionic farm that he will inherit one day.

It's implied Cliff writes about Ginger to his brother as they want to meet 'that smashing Ginger'.

Jeff's family sent his baby photo. He thinks he's still cute.

Lisa and Chip are close enough she recognizes his hand writing.

Chip dreams about Pidge. He worries greatly about his brother after the lack of a letter.

Hutch insults the three girls based on their looks implying Twyla is hotter. Ginger trips Hutch after he, Marvin, and Rocky insult all three female members of the Voltron Force and he cries.

Commander Twyla escapes in an escape shuttle.

The Voltron Force play football with the Drule. Jeff finds Lieutenant Antor seriously hurt under rubble, but they heal him and he lives.

The buck dies but the fawn lives.

The dolphin is a single dolphin who somehow managed to disable a missile and survive.

"We just signed an important peace treaty right at this table. I've agreed to let Ginger slurp up her spaghetti, and she's agreed to let me slurp up my soup." -Cliff to Jeff, (Ginger present).

"Well I didn't sign and I want my own table away from you." -Krik to Cliff and possibly Jeff, (Ginger present).

Episode 45. Episode 45 is way too funny. Krik and Cinda crave coconuts out of the blue, ask Commander Hawkins if they can stop at a planet for some, and Krik salutes to his commander that it was a 'dumb idea'.

Ginger has PTSD from an experience as a child where she survived a ship blowing up.

The Drule home-world had destructive material buried under the surface.

Hazar spares Zeppo, but the latter's body is slumped on the throne.

Captain Newley relocates the Drule to a planet in the fourth quadrant in the far galaxy.

Hazar lives.

Krik is passive-aggressive.

The Drule blow up perfectly good planets they can't have.

The Same:

Krik has ESP abilities.

Krik can possibly play an instrument. He holds it the entire time, however.

Jeff, when he takes the first shift as Commander, is disgusted and reluctant to sit beside Commander Hawkins much to the amusement of the man.

Commander Hawkins is passive aggressive.

The Drule homeworld is getting hotter. All the residents have moved below ground, and starvation is prominent.

Krik pilots Voltron when Jeff is out of commission.

Krik shoves a whole gun into Jeff's pants.

The Sky Team ft. Krik drive a tank/enemy patrol car.

Dorma is kidnapped and asked to join the resistance which she steadily accepts.

Profiles in Villainy

Prince Lotar

Charming and duplicitous, Lotor is the prince of the Galra Empire and the son of Emperor Zarkon.  His father is of the Galraian race while his mother is an Altean mystic named Haggar (thus making Lotar a rare Altean/Galraian hybrid).  

Fearful of his son’s guile and potential ambitions to overthrow him, Zarkon sent Lotor away to govern a remote region of the empire.  When Zarkon was severely injured in battle against Voltron, however, the prince was summoned by Haggar to lead the Galra Empire in his father’s stead.  Herein, Lotar was aided by his three generals, a trio of female half-Galraian hybrids who served as Lotor's primary lieutenants. This included  Acxa, Ezor and Zethrid.

Orchestrating his own secretive plans, Lotor would go on to join the Voltron Force, becoming a trusted alley to the humans as well as quite close with Princess Allura of the Altean.  Upon Zarkon’s revival, he declares his son a traitor and enemy of the Empire. The prince eventually killed his father and took the throne as the new emperor.

Hereafter, Lotar’s alliance with the Voltron Force was revealed as a ruse created so to gain access to the powerful Quintessence.  Lotar battled Voltron with his own super-powered robot, The Sincline. Voltron was ultimately victorious and Lotor was left marooned within the Quintessence.

In the original version of Voltron, Lotar is known as Prince Sincline, son and heir to the Emperor Daibazaal. A dangerous and cunning adversary, his only weakness is the fact that he fell in love with Princess Fala.  His plot was to overthrow his father and marry Fala. He is a sly, scheming villain with a sense of honor, preferring to fight fair over his father's dirty tactics, and is Akira's frequent rival. 

In the next iteration of Voltron, Lotar is the son of Emperor Zarkon and his top lieutenant in the battle against Voltron the Defender of the Universe.  This version of Lotar is more dutiful toward his father and fights against Voltron in a desperate effort to earn his father’s respect.  He was seemingly killed in battle against Voltron but was later revived by Maahox, using the power of Haggarium. Hereafter he becomes the new Emperor of the Galraians and resumes his battle with the Votron Force.  

Actor Akira Kamiya voiced the character in his initial appearances; whereas actors Lennie Weinrib, Tim Curry, Mark Hildreth and A. J. Locascio have provided the voice for the villain in the English language dubs of his various iterations.  Lotar first appeared in the fourteenth episode of Beast King GoLion, airing on June 3rd, 1981.

They hear the rumors first.

The Altean Empire has a new prince. They don't connect it with the recent capture of three of their own- why would they? Akira, Cat, and Tsuyoshi are all human. They've probably been hoktril'd by now.

They almost definitely have, given that the base they all operated out of was attacked shortly after their capture. Thankfully, they'd already largely abandoned it, and were able to pull everyone out without any further captures. Any data they left behind in the base was destroyed. They should be safe for now.

Still, the news of another Altean royal is troubling. The current Altean Empress, Empress Fala, is too old to have another child of her own- her only biological child, Princess Merla was born late in her life, and she had no other children. This new royal heir must have been adopted into the royal family- which can only mean one thing.

There's another Altean with alchemical talent.

The attribute has become vanishingly rare amongst the Altean populace. It's a great relief to the rebellion- they've heard tales of the feats that Altean alchemists are capable of. So for there to be another one is deeply troubling. They will have to keep their guard up, see what this new prince is capable of.

They get their answer much sooner than they expect.

It was supposed to be a simple mission- targeting one of the Altean Empire's supply ships. In and out. No one expects the new prince to be on board.

No one expects him to be Akira.

Este estava sendo um dos momentos de maior confiança na vida dele, depois de todas as vitórias consecutivas ainda no inicio de temporada das corridas, estavam finalmente sorteando um prêmio em dinheiro vivo. Yuta estava com o ego por quase explodir para fora, vocês dois já caminhando em direção do valor para comemorar mais um momento de grandeza, até um homem impedir o caminho.

Akira, o maior corredor da década passada, havia boatos correndo de sua visita a Seoul para competições grandes, mas todos sabiam de seu costume de se exilar por uns dias para evitar ser preso, não podia ficar atrás das grades sem antes mostrar para o que veio. O homem mais velho escutava a um tempo no Japão, sua origem, de um mais jovem da região que fazia sucesso em outro país, Coreia do Sul. Akira usou de uma das competições grandes do ano para conhecer pessoalmente o quem sabe, futuro rival.

"Japão? Contente em saber que as noticias sobre mim correram tão rápido a ponto de chegar em outro país."

Yuta a um tempo vem evitando de falar de sua terra natal, os sofrimentos que causou e as consequências que teve que pagar por suas atitudes lá, fez com que ele mudasse para outro lugar, porém ele sabia como os japonês se sentiam ofendido quando as pessoas não eram patriotas o suficiente. O fato de alguém de lá não estar mostrando sua grandeza representando sua própria terra natal incomodava akira muito mais que qualquer fetichização de grandeza do garoto.

"Aqui e agora? Por mim tudo bem, mas deve imaginar quem vou representar, não é mesmo?"

O tom de ironia na pergunta cresceu uma raiva no homem que parecia se espalhar pelo corpo todo, mas ele sabia do quão provocativo japoneses poderiam ser quando o assunto era o sentimento de poder e grandeza.

"Sua aposentadoria se eu ganhar! Ele(a) todo(a), se você ganhar!"

Nakamoto não poderia ser mais ridículo do que naquele momento, propondo seu par na primeira corrida com a possibilidade de oitenta por cento de chance de tudo dar errado, não havia um plano b se desse errado para os dois. Você começar a chorar foi uma situação não surpreendente para ele, na verdade isso até o ofendia um pouco, a forma como não mostrava confiança nele, para akira era uma cena decepcionante, a situação na qual você tão jovem estava realmente se abrindo para alguém tão arrogante, mas seria o sujo falando do mal lavado, o mais velho lembrava de cada uma das pessoas que perdeu ao longo dos anos por sua mentalidade infantil do passado.

"Você já me viu perdendo alguma vez?"

Única frase que yuta sussurrou no seu ouvido encarando o homem do outro lado se preparar para entrar no carro e tentando acalmar seu choro com a fala.

O público que assistiu toda a conversa dos dois japoneses se afastaram para a calçada da estrada abandonada para terem visão privilegiada deste momento épico já visto nas corridas de rua, o novo enfrentando o velho, o antigo e o atual, experiente e novato.

Os artistas que continuam mudando minha vida

Recentemente eu estive vendo os mapas de influências de alguns artistas que acompanho nas redes sociais e isso me fez parar e refletir sobre os artistas que eu considero do meu mapa de influência e olha, a reflexão demorou. Listei um monte de artistas e me perguntei qual deles realmente eram minhas influências, qual deles mudaram minha vida, qual deles estão ali do meu lado nos momentos mais difíceis da minha vida de quadrinista, qual deles me fazem querer entender o processo, qual deles eu consigo ouvir dizer: “Não desanime, continue tentando.” E estes são:

Katsuhiro Otomo

Eu listei ele no topo dessa lista, pois foi graças a Akira que eu senti vontade de desenhar, sabe? Eu lembro como se fosse ontem, eu estava em uma área reservada para crianças em uma festa da comunidade onde eu e minha família morávamos, fazia um barulho infernal, mas quando vi aquela animação na telinha, cara

Aquilo mudou minha vida, pode parecer mentira, mas mesmo sendo uma criança eu senti como se um cadeado em minha cabeça fosse aberto, eu sabia que aquilo era diferente e eu precisava entender e, quase que instantaneamente, soube o que tinha de fazer. Foi então que quis ser desenhista e algum tempo depois, quadrinista.

Por isso eu cito ele como minha influência principal nessa vida de quadrinhos e fico muito feliz quando alguém diz que algum desenho meu faz lembrar de Akira, o que me aconteceu duas vezes até agora.

John Romita jr.

O Romitinha é como se fosse aquele tipo de pessoa pela qual você se dói quando alguém fala mal dela, entende? Fico puto quando alguém fala da arte dele de forma arrogante, como se fosse o rei da cocada de nanquim. A primeira coisa que li dele foi o Homem-Aranha e foi o suficiente para me apaixonar, gosto muito dos traços dele e da forma como ele desenha a ação, os personagens dele tem peso e volume, algo que venho tentando fazer com meus desenhos, mas ainda sem sucesso.

Não fale mal de Romitinha perto de mim, é perigoso. Para você, claro.

Masashi Kishimoto

Quando li o Naruto pela primeira vez eu fiquei encantado com a forma como o Kishimoto construiu os personagens e como cada um tinha sua personalidade bem definida, também curto a técnica dele com bico de pena, apesar de já ter lido alguém falando sobre o “erro” dele usar linhas sem muitas variações de espessura, bom… Para mim isso não importa, como diz o Moebius: “Ninguém pode culpar um artista por manter ou descartar certas formas para dar lugar à expressão de seus verdadeiros sentimentos. Ninguém pode dizer a ele o que deve ou não desenhar. Isso é completamente inaceitável.” Kishimoto foi o que me fez pensar melhor na forma como desenhava, em como ter cuidado com a construção dos meus personagens e estudei muito o traço dele, sem contar que ele também é um fã de Katsuhiro Otomo.

Moebius

Jean Henri Gaston Giraud ou Gir, ou simplesmente, Moebius. As cores, a naturalidade com que ele desenha e os cenários fantásticos, o surrealismo da sua arte, tudo que o Moebius faz é de cair o queixo, ele é um dos artistas que estão ao meu lado nos momentos difíceis da vida de quadrinista, assim como ele eu acabo sendo “contaminado” pelo meu estado de espírito quando estou desenhando, por isso que me sinto bem quando penso que não sou o único que tem esse problema, mas tento evitar ao máximo que isso aconteça, tipo ficar irritado ou melancólico antes de ir para a prancheta.

Quando se trata de composição, texturas, cor, a forma como enxergo ao mundo ao meu redor e a importância aos detalhes, sempre penso no Moebius.

Will Eisner

Ahhh, Will Eisner…

Conheci o trabalho dele logo quando comecei a me aventurar pelo mundo dos quadrinhos como autor, mas não tinha lido nenhuma de suas obras, até que na biblioteca da escola eu li O Sonhador e então eu me interessei mais por este artista.

Eu passo horas observando as páginas dele, seus rascunhos e suas lições sobre narrativa, ele também é um dos que estão ao meu lado nos momentos de dificuldade.

A forma como ele desenha as cidades, caramba, é como se eu estivesse lá naquele desenho e os personagens são tão reais que é como se você dissesse: "Ei, esse cara aqui é igual fulano! Ah! Essa menina me lembra a ciclana!".

Harold Sakuishi

Eu tive dois momentos conturbados pra caramba na minha vida, em um deles eu cogitei parar de desenhar de vez e foi ai, quase que sem querer, que eu li Beck.

Harold Sakuishi me puxou de um buraco com esse mangá, a batalha dos personagens com seus sonhos, a forma hilária como ele os desenha de vez em quando, as expressões e o uso de retículas dele, tudo é maravilhoso, sem contar que é um mangá de música, saca isso!

Se Otomo despertou o fogo da vontade de desenhar, Sakuishi reacendeu o que estava apagado e, sem dúvida, ele é um dos autores que estão ao meu lado, ele está sentado em cima da mesa tocando uma guitarra e quando fraquejo demais ele me acerta um chute para tomar vergonha na cara.

Estes são os artistas que mais me influenciam, claro que tem muitos que eu admiro e amo o trabalho, alguns tão bons quanto os citados acima (menos Moebius, ninguém é tão bom quanto Moebius), mas nenhum deles me impactaram tanto quando estes.

São artistas que mesmo hoje ainda continuam mudando a minha vida, artistas que sempre estão me ensinando algo. Gostaria de publicar algumas imagens nessa postagem, mas não é possível, infelizmente, mas você encontra facilmente ai pelo Google.

A Akira é uma gatinha muito especial. É uma espécie de gata-cão. Fala imenso, é muito activa. Adora brincar, contacto com pessoas. Gosta de ser o centro das atenções. É uma gata que precisa de uma família que a estimule para ser a gata fantástica e activa que é. Apesar de já ter sido mãe (presumimos, porque a apanhámos sem filhotes já) é uma criança autêntica. Silent Hill (playlist, trilha sonora)

Preciso recriar a playlist de Silent Hill. A trilha sonora dos três primeiros jogos (o que considero canon) foi uma das maiores inspirações pra descobrir que eu gostava de Dark Ambient. Essa versão com letra de Rain of Brass Petals com três vozes me inspira muito. Black Myth: Wukong - Jornada ao Oeste estilo Dark Souls

Sabemos que Dark Souls é um fenômeno, que atraiu tanto os jogadores habilidosos, como causou ragequit em muitas pessoas. Agora chegou a vez de Black Myth: Wukong, um game que é baseado na fábula chinesa de A Jornada ao Oeste(西遊記), em que o personagem da obra central, Sun Wukong(孫悟空), viaja pelos diversos ambientes enfrentando inimigos e desafios super-humanos.

Só para se ter uma ideia, A Jornada ao Oeste inspirou Akira Toriyama a criar toda a temática de Dragon Ball, e curiosamente, Son Goku, o protagonista da obra, alem de ser muito poderoso, ele era capaz de se transformar em um gorila gigante chamado Oozaru, tornado-se extremamente violento e incontrolável. Quando ele tinha a cauda dele cortada, costumava cair ao chão inconsciente, e isso se repetia com o filho dele, Gohan, um mestiço de humano e Saiyajin. Vegeta, por outro lado, ele era capaz de manter a síntese da fala, e raciocinar e em vez de ele desmaiar quando perdeu a cauda, cortada por ninguém menos que Yajirobe, ele ficou apenas quase sem nenhum fôlego.

~Episode 2~

"Daibazaal plundered all the treasure on Altea, destroying us." Raible paused before he swung his cane at the group. Hiroshi and Tsuyoshi jumped while Akira and Isamu ducked briefly before Isamu and Takashi jumped out of the way. Akira straightened up and blocked with her spear.

"What gives?" Tsuyoshi demanded.

"I knew it. He was just making us let our guard down!" Hiroshi exclaimed.

"What the hell's going on here?" Akira questioned.

Raible was surprised to see that there was a woman in the group.

"I had to test your skills," Raible answered. "Especially since one of you is a woman."

"Just because Chief is a woman doesn't mean she can't fight," Isamu jumped in. "She's as capable as any of us!"

"Moody, that's enough," Akira said.

"Agreed. The princess will welcome you five indeed."

The group looked up the staircase to see a lovely young woman in a pink dress. She smiled and slowly descended the staircase. Raible explained how he and the princess survived the attack as Fala came to a stop at the bottom of the stairs.

Akira had to figuratively pick her jaw off the ground. The princess was breathtakingly gorgeous. She had to gather her wits about her because she barely heard the princess asking for their names.

"Kogane Akira." Akira had no idea how she was able to say her name without stuttering.

"Shirogane Takashi."

"Kurogane Isamu."

"Seidou Tsuyoshi."

"Suzuishi Hiroshi."

As the princess told her sad tale, Akira couldn't help but feel for her. As the tears fell from her blue eyes, Akira wanted to brush those tears away and perhaps even comfort her. Akira mentally shook herself as Raible interjected himself into the conversation, but she still missed the entire conversation until GoLion was mentioned. The leader focused on what was being told to her team. Even thought she was hesitant, there was no way she was going to make the decision for everyone. She looked to her right at Takashi, who said, "If we don't kill Daibazaal, there's no way we'll survive!"

"He's right. Let's fight Daibazaal!" Akira agreed. She was happy to see the tears were no longer coursing down the princess's face. The smile on her face drew Akira's attention even as Isamu, Tsuyoshi, and Hiroshi added their comments.

Fala held her hand out, clearly indicating that the team should kiss the back of it.

Everyone laid down their spears, and Akira approached, knelt down, and grasped her hand. She laid a kiss on it and stood up, nodding to the princess. Before she stood aside for her teammates to do the same, Fala realized that she was female as well. "A woman?"

Fala's eyes sparkled at the idea of a woman in the leadership position. Takashi stepped up to kiss her hand.

~Episode 7~

Hiroshi, Akira, and Isamu stopped running once they were a few corridors away from the royal governess.

"Geez, now we have some old lady on our hands," Isamu groused.

You said it. I can imagine what's waiting for us," Akira replied. "Especially when she finds out that I'm female."

"No sweat. Just leave this to me," Hiroshi stated.

Just then, the alarms sounded. Of all the reasons for the alarm, the princess trying to fly the Blue Lion wasn't on Akira's list at all. She was impressed with Fala's actions and willingness to put herself in harm's way to protect her planet. Akira found herself wanting to see what the princess could do, and no ranting from the governess could make change her mind.

~Later in Episode 7~

"Just a moment! In a lonely village in the Pierrane Mountains live strong hunters. Maybe one of their men is qualified," Hys stated.

"Men? Women are just as qualified. Kogane is a  woman after all," Fala mentioned.

"Kogane?" Hys questioned.

"The one wearing red and white," Raible clarified.

"The ingrate who told me to shut up is a girl?!" Hys was indignant.

"She is not an ingrate," Fala countered. "She's brave, selfless, intelligent, and beautiful." Fala couldn't help but blush when she thought of the female pilot, and no ranting from either Raible or Hys could prevent her from wanting to get closer to her.

having watched all the voltrons up to vforce (i guess you can include vld though its been a few years) its honestly interesting and somewhat depressing how a lot of subsequent entries post-golion/dotu more or less wind up leaving keith and allura’s relationship to dry; the only time i think i felt like there was romantic chemistry and an effort put into their relationship was in the ddp comics.

in vttd, both keith and allura are given prominence but they almost seem to have a barrier between them. in the dynamite comics allura had Not A Lot Going On (and i cant say the treatment of women in the dynamite comics was good at all 😭 merla i’m so fucking sorry) and seemed like kinda just. There. for keith to be in a relationship with. and vforce light of life my true love etc etc i never could actually BELIEVE they had feelings for each other. in crossed signals it kinda felt that way, but i just. i dunno. it really only wouldve taken one scene of just them without Looming Destiny for me to feel convinced there was a relationship/potential for one there. i could believe them as friends and comrades but a couple ? idk

ultimately to me dotu/golion had the best representation, and if i had to choose between the two, while not romantic, golion’s really comes out on top for me. akira really believes in fala and her leadership capabilities, while fala believes in akira’s ability to lead golion. there is a genuine care and focus on their bond and the way it lay at the heart of golion, and i think my issue with all the subsequent iterations is that it’s like because we know in dotu keith and allura liked each other, because ‘he was a boy, she was a girl, could i get any more obvious?’ they don’t have to do extra legwork to develop them. maybe i’m being toooo critical but to me i really see keith and allura as one of the foundations of voltron, romantic or platonic. and honestly the way how their bond was very much neglected in vld outside of the stupid ass not-all-galra arc, it makes me sad. there was a real missed opportunity to make them great friends who were able to understand each other’s struggles as new leaders, but alas. here we are.

🧡 - meu estilo mudou bastante, eu tinha cabelo comprido e hoje passo máquina. E eu fiquei mais confiante pra experimentar estilos diferentes de roupas e compro tanto na sessão feminina quanto na masculina. Antes, eu me regrava muito pra ficar de acordo com o socialmente aceitável para mulheres cis.

🦚 - eu recomendaria os mangás:

-Boys Run the Riot: escrito por um homem trans, fala de Ryo, um garoto trans do ensino que está mal por não poder ser quem ele é de verdade. No novo ano escolar, entra na sala um repetente que dá um sacode na vida dele ao perguntar se o Ryo topa criar uma marca de roupas junto com ele. Completo, 4 volumes, a JBC tá lançando.

-Shimanami Tasogare: Tasuku tem medo que seus colegas tenham descoberto que ele é gay e pensa em se matar. Ele vê uma pessoa pulando da janela de uma casa e, quando corre pra ajudar, descobre que a casa é um lugar frequentado por pessoas que são como ele. Completo, 4 volumes, a JBC também tá lançando. É de autoria de uma pessoa não binária e entre as personagens também há nb, gostei que a editora usou linguagem neutra.

-Watashi no Kanojo wa Otoko no Ko: uma história de capítulo único sobre um casal de adolescentes trans não bináries. Mostra como elus lidam com uma amiga de ume delus que não respeita suas identidades.

-Kanojo ni Naritai Kimi to Boku: Hime gosta de seu amigo de infância Akira e se surpreendeu quando Akira disse que se vê como menina, não como menino. Hime apoia a amiga e decide que vai protegê-la a todo custo quando Akira se assume para a família e começa a frequentar a escola como menina. Completo, 4 volumes.
