Okay, let's see... these 2 have been beefing for a while now but this year:

1. Kendrick Lamar started with his featured verse on Metro Boomin & Future's track, Like That.

2. Drake responded with Push Ups, where he dissed Kendrick & other folks. See Metro Boomin & Future's most recent albums are basically Drake diss albums.

3. Drake fucked up and did another diss, but used AI to recreate Tupac & Snoop Dogg, I haven't bothered listening to it.

4. Kendrick responded with Euphoria on Tuesday, as in this past Tuesday.

5. Kendrick drops 6:16 in LA, a few days later.

6. Drake releases Family Matters, most of it is about Kendrick.

7. Kendrick releases Meet the Grahams in less than an hour after Drake's track. Yes, either 30 or 45 minutes after. He's on demon time.

8. Kendrick releases Not Like Us within 24 hours of his last diss. Now, this particular one is on some serious demon time, this is on Chip & Lady Leshurr demon time (2 UK rappers that are known to do this type of crazy disses in a 24 hour period, usually with a music video. Yes, I said music video). Also, this diss is a club banger. Damn song keeps making me dance.

So 4-8 all occurred this week, from Tuesday. Kendrick Lamar released 4 diss tracks in 5 days! Kendrick's really on his Death Note era, and I need to step my hater game up.

New 3 things that happened:

*I got my new ID, my id expired and to renew it I had to get photographed, and since I just opened my bank account a year ago it depends on it so already I was giving up on the idea to keep the account but by miracle a photographer agreed to picture us at home, and it turned to us cuz I wanted all my sibs to have theirs taken with me too and because I had to argue first time to get my ID forever, so i didn't have the energy to keep doing it for the rest of my sibs so now it was the chance. The day of the photographer coming I was shaking with fear and I thought I would never leave the bathroom gotten ill. I fear seeing people more than dyin so I don't know how I held it together, I literally don't remember how it went or how I did, but I recall my sibs looking the same as I felt but it was finally done. parents too taken their shoots and because one needed their passport renewed to renew their id, them alone costing 1k$ and the appointment was set 6 months ahead, we R now close to it anyway, and the thought of how we have to pay to exist some more costly made me think of my worthlessness and helplessness even more, making me ashamed of still living.

*my eye is better, I still see a dark spot looking in a certain direction, getting an eye mask surprisingly helped keeping my eyes less dry cuz they be the most when I wake up and I had the driest time before it got infected and swelled, and already I'm used to the spot and can ignore it..

*I'm still drawing, literally it's making me live love and laugh, I don't care about improving or drawing my best constantly, ai can get poisoned for all I care as it continues to dehumanise the whole point of art-- keeping humanity alive ( btw use glazing ❤️🖤)

I realised that I don't have any physical collection of my art & since I can't look at the screens forever just to browse, nd printing all my stuff isn't feasible, then I came across those mini albums Nd I got the idea to just print one sheet = 9 pics! They look good too for trashy quality, I love it 8' and yes, purple and silver is the 10% obsession to my 90% red and black pallets, thanks to remembering Freeza c'x

But as usual posting my drawings never cease to eat me alive with anxiety, but I think I'm slowly becoming indifferent to it, even if the thought of that no one actually sees my art but me, which is the main case cuz I am living in isolation and being drawing in secret till few recent years because of my conservative surroundings, I feel much calmer when I'm not seen and maybe it's self destructive in a way cuz to stay posting I need to be commissioned cuz net bill, but it became irrelevant cuz I accepted that i can't have the mental capacity to be a social media person or chase anything that I already knew I can't maintain, I had an art block for a year I almost believed that was it for my art drive and me cuz it my sanity— cuz burning out so bad. If my post has a description it was in my drafts for months cuz I plan for every piece I share, but if can't form words I allow myself to let it be captionless, I draw faster than I form words and that's why art is important to me on a personal level, it's my first way of express even if its indirect, the only bit of human Mani left to live in me to put through lines and paint splodges. Even if no one sees it, and to be honest with myself, have very weak chances of being seen on a level that benefits me financially, I'm on the other side of the world, never seen the sky beyond my schooling days, nonverbal irl and know that I can get taken advantage of easily in social manner because it either I don't get the social cues or can't say no..

I'm grateful that at least I got the chance to experience being in a loving nurturing fandom like Sev's that made me experience genuine human goodness and care I never thought possible, made me have some self worth, personality beyond a made for marriage caretaker, and allowed me to get art tools and clothing that I was never allowed or could afford, and many first time small life pleasures like perfumes, food and toys, even if I only recognise 5 or 10 of you dears now, by DP liking my posts- (I suck at remembering names sorry)

I'm also grateful to have a room after endless years of couch and house movings, I have a safe space to still be able to draw and be cool under an AC in this 50° weather..

I think realistically that's the best it can get having spent all my life trying to get anywhere but isolated, and nothing working. At least I'm indifferent and fine of being the caretaker of my disabled guardians and siblings, I need them as much as they need me, even if it caused me the same cycle of mental anguish and earth leavings hehe

Storia Di Musica #329 - Diaframma, Siberia, 1984

Nella scatola ritrovata in soffitta, questo disco stava sotto un altro, con la copertina leggermente rovinata dall'umidità (e che sarà protagonista di una prossima Storia di Musica). All'interno c'era il bigliettino da visita di un negozio di dischi, Data Records 93, Via dei Neri, Firenze. Il disco di oggi è l'inizio di una delle più intense e importanti storie musicali italiane degli ultimi 40 anni nel nostro paese. Tutto inizia a Firenze, fine anni '70, quando l'onda punk in Europa è al massimo livello: in un liceo si formano i CFS, con Federico Fiumani alla chitarra e due suoi amici, Gianni Cicchi (batterista) e Salvatore Susini (bassista). Suonano cover delle band punk rock britanniche, nel 1980 Susini se ne va e viene sostituito dal fratello di Cicchi, Leandro, e nascono così i Diaframma, nome scelto per la comune passione dei tre per la fotografia (il diaframma fotografico è il meccanismo usato in ottica per regolare la quantità di luce che deve attraversare un obiettivo). Sin da subito, si appassionano alle sonorità post punk che in quegli anni saranno chiamate darkwave, ispirati a gruppi leggendari come i Joy Division o i primissimi The Cure di Robert Smith. Nel 1981 conoscono Nicola Vannini, un giovane cantante, e gli propongono di entrare nel gruppo: pubblicano in pochi mesi due canzoni unite in un singolo, Pioggia/Illusione Ottica e poi Circuito Chiuso (1982) e Altrove (1983). Vannini non si ambienterà mai del tutto, e poco prima delle registrazione del loro primo disco, viene sostituito da Miro Sassolini. Nelle stesse settimane, vengono scritturati da una neonata casa editrice musicale, la IRA Records di Firenze: fondata da Alberto Pirelli insieme alla moglie Anne Marie Parrocel diviene una delle etichette più attive e creative del panorama italiano. Ne è esempio il primo disco prodotto, Catalogue Issue, una compilation con alcune delle più interessanti band del territorio, tra cui oltre che i Diaframma si ricordano i Litfiba, i Moda, ed gli Underground Life. Pirelli coniò lo slogan nuova musica italiana cantata in italiano, dando consistenza all'impegno delle 4 band sull'utilizzo della lingua italiana nella musica alternativa del nostro paese, contro l'anglofila e l'alglofonia dominante di quegli anni.

Tutto è pronto per il primo disco: scritto tutto da Federico Fiumani, prodotto da Ernesto De Pascale (che fu anche grande giornalista di musica) Siberia esce nel Dicembre del 1984. È un album in cui l'eleganza e la forza espressiva della musica incontra la poetica decadente di Fiumani, che nella voce di Sassolini trova un interprete perfetto del suo pensiero musicale e artistico. 8 brani che sono una carrellata di immagini che regalano sensazioni fredde, pungenti, dominate dalle falciate chitarristiche tipiche della musica del periodo e dal ritmo sincopato della batteria, e illuminati dai testi romantici e decadenti di Fiumani. Siberia, che apre il disco, è già l'emblema: una chitarra malinconica, il basso dai toni ombrosi ed un elegante sassofono accompagnano una voce tenebrosa rendendo il brano misterioso, Aspetterò questa notte pensandoti,\nascondendo nella neve il respiro,\poi in un momento diverso dagli altri\io coprirò il peso di queste distanze…\di queste distanze… di queste distanze. Non da meno Neogrigio, angosciante, turbinante, ventosa, capolavoro per i più sconosciuto. Impronte è una dolente poesia ritmata (Ho preferito andare prima di esser lasciat\Prima che il cuore da solo scivolasse nel buio\Insieme ai ventagli ingialliti\Resti un lampo intravisto oltre i vetri del treno\Nello spazio improvviso sopravvive in un sogno), e arriva un altro capolavoro: Amsterdam, dal leggendario ritornello (Dove il giorno ferito impazziva di luce\Dove il giorno ferito impazziva di luce) è una speranza di uscita dal dolore, e l'anno dopo, nel 1985, diventerà un formidabile duetto con i Litfiba di Piero Pelù e Ghigo Renzulli, band amica\nemica di quei tempi e destinata d un futuro radioso. Delorenzo è una ode baudeleriana, incentrata su un asfissiante basso, Memoria è un altro brano di discesa nell'oscurità, potente e misterioso, Specchi D'Acqua dal ritmo incalzante e quasi galoppante, è una fuga dagli incubi (Forse non sento le voci\Che mi allontanano\Sempre più in fretta\Dal ricordo latente\Di quei giorni sofferti), chiude il disco Desiderio Dal Nulla, trepidante, spasmodica, che continua nei suoi testi decadenti a raccontare il disagio.

Il disco fu osannato dalla critica dell'epoca, ma vista anche la dimensione indipendente del progetto, vendette poco. I Diaframma si fanno però un nome nella scena musicale alternativa italiana: è meno cupo ma altrettanto bello 3 Volte Lacrime, del 1986 e dopo Boxe (1988), un po' deludente, Fiumani scioglie il gruppo e lo riforma prendendo le redini anche del canto: pubblicherà con i nuovi Diaframma In Perfetta Solitudine (1990), che segnerà la sua volontà di continuare una carriera solista, tra cantautorato e musica rock, incisiva a volte a tratti scostante, con in primo piano la sua poesia dei testi, mai mancata.

Questo disco verrà ripubblicato in cd per la prima volta nel 1992, con aggiunta di altri due brani Elena e Ultimo Boulevard e nel 2001 con Amsterdam cantata con i Litfiba e numero brani live. Nel 2012, per il suo centesimo numero dell'edizione italiana, la rivista Rolling Stone Italia lo inserisce nella classifica del 100 migliori dischi italiani addirittura al 7.mo posto. È una riscoperta per almeno due generazioni: persino io lo comprai, non conoscendoli e non sapendo che nella soffitta di casa era, integro e impolverato, uno dei dischi più compiuti, affascinanti e belli non solo della stagione new wave post punk degli anni '80, ma dell'intera musica italiana.

Nope, cos AI's don't have faces, also they're very boring and predictable. Apart from Cyborg Noodle who's dangerously unhinged due to that hole in her noggin, but other bots - very beige. No, this really is me, writing by candlelight, robed in a billowy dressing gown, festive cheer all about me; turkey on fire, tree riddled with vermin (Russ found it in a graveyard), chestnuts roasting in the George Foreman.

Twas a year of the Tormenta (that's 'storm' in Spanish, also track 8 on my latest smash). Every kind of storm imaginable, inc loads of actual storms. A year when the Doomsday Clock moved to 90 seconds from midnight - a smidge ominous, but it's not midnight yet! So there's still hope. Not for our xmas turkey, alas, which Noodle has just put out with a fire extinguisher. But let's focus on the positives - like my incredibly successful album Cracker Island. Wow. Really suffered for that one, you know. Mostly Stuart's fault for dragging us into a cult-war, but TBF it did set up a terrific boss-battle finale for the Silent Running vid. And then Coachella! Ahh, the Gorillaz BFF's all together on one stage! (Plus one numpty who arrived late after falling asleep on the ferris wheel.)

Most important thing at the end of any year, ask yourself - what did you learn? I learned nothing. But what did YOU learn? Maybe that there's no utopia. Maybe this world is all we've got, so we'll just have to make do and polish the turd. Oo that reminds me, I need to wrap 2D's present.

your Normal Spaceship Story has captivated me. spent 8 consecutive hours reading the first 39 chapters and I cannot describe the horror and excitement I felt when I saw it was at 91 chapters AND COUNTING. I especially appreciate how well-paced the exposition of backstories and lore is, and how character relationships evolve in response to major events. people can disagree with each other on extremely important and difficult decisions and still very much care about one another and work together well. the crew (so far) are all just people who have genuinely good intentions but limited information and resources, and often very different worldviews that affect what "doing what's best for the passengers and crew" looks like to each individual. it's great!!

also, I wanted to recommend a game that the javelin story reminds me of: seedship. it's a simple text-based adventure that doesn't require an internet connection. you play as a sleeper colony ship's ai looking for a good planet to set down on. you have to maintain (and sometimes upgrade!) the ship's systems and navigate various space phenomena, weighing your options carefully. this sometimes means you have to sacrifice cryo pods or risk much greater destruction. more often, it means bits of your cultural and/or scientific databases or your sensors will be corrupted or chipped off, affecting either your ability to accurately scan potential host planets or the state of the society the colonists build once you've landed. you can look back on the scores of previous playthroughs and short descriptions of the civilizations that resulted, and no playthrough is the same. (I swear I'm not being paid to say all this.) I don't know if it's on the computer as well, but I have it as an app.

also! I wanted to give some music recs for anyone reading through it. the background music I found most fitting was windows96's albums enchanted instrumentals, nematophy, one hundred mornings, and plume valley; adam bosarge's album structures without rooms; and mort garson's album plantasia. I also listened to some radiohead, the cure, fugazi, and I think queens of the stone age whilst reading, but those have lyrics and might prove distracting for some readers. oh god I've become so obsessed with something in the 10 hours since I first started reading that I'm making a whole music rec ask about it. sorry this is so goddamn long lmao

Live Commentary Ohhhh, what a lovely throwback to see Wakana in her 1st album dress. She looks beautiful😍

1.揺れる春 (Yureru Haru): Surprised by how much I like Wakana's high notes here. Usually I am not a huge fan. Very solid performance. 2.翼 (Tsubasa): Saku-chan's piano arrangement is lovely and Wakana is slaying as she always does with this song. MC: Pleasantly surprised to see her taking a longer break to talk to us. I feared this would be a somewhat rushed event with just a couple songs being performed. She is even reading through some of the comments. 3.愛の花 (Ai no Hana): *sobs* So happy to hear this again. It's one of my all-time favourites. Wa's voice was a bit shaky but she knocked it out of the park at the end. The oooh part killed me. Goosebumps all over. 4.アキノサクラ (Aki no Sakura): Hearing it live always makes me appreciate the song a bit more. Very nice! MC 5.オレンジ (Orange): The bridge was absolutely perfect. I understand that in the battle of the ships, everything becomes a competition. But it real life, things aren't so extreme and mutually exclusive.

JK doesn't hate JM. He loves him. He's one of his favorite people.

At the same time, he didn't see him much during solo time. Not because he hates him. Because they are just existing differently. And because they know that not talking to each other doesn't mean they don't love and care for each other.

Hence JM suggested the trip. Yes, he had to make it happen. They both acknowledged that. But they also knew that if he did all the work, JK would come. And he did.

Yes it was content. But for the last 10 years, a metric ton of their time together (all of them) has been filmed. These boys are used to living in a bubble. For us. Doesn't mean they can't enjoy their time. This is how they are used to living their lives.

Yes, they can be tired sometimes. JK just finished speed recording an album that launched his solo career. He was sick during his huge live performances. JM was also working on his album. He was also fighting for his life in the bathroom.

Did he particularly enjoy when Tae was present? Clearly. Does that mean he didn't enjoy the rest of the trip? No. Once they were healthier and less tired, being able to get away and largely just eat, and relax together had to be nice.

Because, a major factor here, they are about to step away from all they have known to go into the military. Neither are looking forward to it. It's clearly weighing on them. So being able to just get away, relax, reconnect, prepare -- and feel like they are still getting to give something to Army before they have to leave - is going to be enjoyed, it's also going to be special.

JK can go eat and drink with Mingyu, he can relax with JM. Tae can golf with wooga and hang out with his 8509234 other friends. It doesn't change that JK and Tae are clearly in each other's lives - professionally and personally.

There is never going to be a situation where JK, JM or Tae hate each other. That is manufactured by extreme factions within warring ships. JM arranging a trip to reconnect with JK before they go to the military together and JK appreciating and enjoying that trip is okay. In fact, it's nice for them.

I know I'm preaching to the choir but I needed to just get that out because it's getting so ridiculous within the fandom. As the need to compete and win between different solos and ships gets worse, we are treating the boys more and more like characters and not real people.

titsatotmwstw stands for “the incredible true story and transformation of the man who saved the world”! it’s the longform/full title of the 2015 hip hop space opera concept album “the incredible true story” by rapper bobby hall aka logic, and i use the full acronym bc otherwise i would just be tagging my posts as “tits” lmfao (logic, for context, is an artist who gets clowned on often for having one very popular very bad corny album, which i think is valid and always funny. but the rest of his discog is actually good to me. to MEEE)

the incredible true story is a beautiful stellar incomparable album with banger song after banger song interspersed with scenes depicting the adventure of two guys on a space mission and their ship’s AI. it deals with themes of freedom and desire under capitalism, cycles of abuse both interpersonal and ecological, and, most importantly, being a fucking nerd. about a week ago logic dropped the sequel album “ultra 85” which has been in the works at least publicly for seven years!!! very exciting news for annoying people (me) it expands on the first album and also touches on finding your people, going to therapy to fix your dumb brain, owning your past without becoming a monument to it, and Acclaimed Director Quentin Tarantino. thomas and kai’s actors reprise their roles and there are some fun darling new faces

Look alive, everyone - Season 8 of SiIvaGunner has now officially premiered!

It may be a bit rich to say as someone running this blog, and with such deep investment into the channel, but...Season 7 really did bring me back into SiIvaGunner in a way I never quite thought would be possible. I'd sort of just accepted with Season 4, Season 5 and Season 6 that the channel had found a new direction: one that I was still VERY much a fan of, yet not quite the one that had "sold" me on the channel the same way Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3 did. I felt as if I was missing that energy of just...sheer visceral excitement for the future of the channel as a whole from the later-year seasons. There was instead a lot of per-event excitement, tons of little events to enjoy and still fun to be had in speculation of what could happen next, yet that aforementioned optimism still felt like it...missing, for a long time. And funny enough - last I discussed that feeling in particular was with Patched Plains Fusion Collab, a rip that Joke-Explainer™ 7000 Fusion Collab very much seems to be intentionally aiming to evoke.

Part of the reason that Patched Plains Fusion Collab works so well for me, and indeed why Season 2 has long sat as my favorite in the channel's life, is that feeling of raw forward momentum it conveys - the excitement of the entire fanbase thankful that SiIvaGunner hadn't actually ended, distilled into an anthem of so many different styles cheerfully pushing us forward. It was that sort of progress that, back when they were airing, I felt was sort of absent from Seasons 4/5/6 - the SiIvaGunner AI was still running things, Wood Man was still off effectively doing sidequests, and though the rips had obviously gotten better the cynical side of me couldn't help but feel a bit sad at how - for a lack of a better word - "predictable" it all felt. And to be crystal clear: A lot of those feelings have obviously changed for the better over the years. I love all of SiIvaGunner's Seasons nowadays, and I realized eventually that the prior-mentioned cynicism toward the new direction wasn't as fun as just, appreciating and LOVING the stuff to come out from the new seasons for the excellence that they were. And funny enough, I feel like that exact mindset is exactly what made Season 7 work so well for me.

Wheras Season 2 is one I remember for its feeling of constantly moving things forward at a rocket-speed pace, Season 7 excels by doing the complete opposite - the Year of Grand Dad is, at almost every possible turn, defined by its sense of self-celebration, a sort of "Sonic Generations"-type of tribute to the entire channel's life. Be it with RIP² as covered in SING A SONG ABOUT HOPES AND DREAMS, the entire incredible April Fools event I've alluded to within Violet Snow Memories, a newfound sense of chaos clearly inspired by Season 1 as shown in Hidden Headtoilets (skibidi toree 2) - yet with Seasons 4/5/6s newfound touch for genuine quality arrangements as found in rips like Forest of Tears. And, atop it all, the long-awaited continuation of the storyline last progressed back in Season 2 with the Christmas Comeback Crisis' eleventh episode. With such an incredible smörgåsbord of content on offer, it feels damn near impossible for me not to consider Season 7 my all-time new favorite.

And that optimism for the Season, that optimism for the future, is why Joke-Explainer™ 7000 Fusion Collab struck such a chord with me, with its release just a few days ago. With Season 7's ending, the status quo of the channel has been fundamentally altered in a way it hasn't truly been in a long while. For the first time ever, the long-present side character "Joke-Explainer™ 7000" is in full charge of the channel - her most prominent role ever despite having been around since all the way back in Season 1. I'll likely be dedicating another Season 8 post in the future to talking about her in particular with the same level of detail I did back in Vote Responsibly!!, but the context I'll provide for now is that her theme song, Magolor's Shoppe, has been a familiar, comforting tune to many a SiIvaGunner viewer since way back in Season 2. To see Patched Plains Fusion Collab not only get a spiritual successor, but one building upon a character and theme we've long grown attached to, means something so much to me and so many others. The added visuals, of her doing her duty with adorable Kirby-themed artwork as textboxes, are truly the cherry on top of an amazing collab.

From referencing the very beginnings of the channel with an initial arrangement using Pokémon Ruby, to using familiar-yet-infrequent sources such as Thwomp Volcano and Snail's House (jokes "worth explaining", so to speak!), to perhaps even hinting at what jokes are to become even more frequent in Season 8, such as the GOAT of all new jokes I Show Meat - I was long anticipating what the official premiere of Season 8 would be, and Joke-Explainer™ 7000 Fusion Collab was everything I never knew I wanted. My excitement for Season 8 is perhaps higher than for any other Season in the channel's long history, and I can't wait to get to share that excitement with all of you.

Storia Di Musica #331 - Antonello Venditti, Sotto Il Segno Dei Pesci, 1978

L’ultimo disco di questo scatolone incredibile che ho ritrovato in soffitta è uno dei dischi più famosi di sempre fatti in Italia. È un disco che segna un momento storico per il nostro Paese a cui indirettamente anche lui contribuisce, e uno più personale, che proietta l’autore a diventare una delle voci più famose, e incisive, della canzone italiana. È anche l’opportunità per raccontare di un cantautore che troppo spesso è stato bistrattato per il suo essere “commerciale” (definizione che per me ha valore di assoluta stupidità). Il disco di oggi esce l’8 Marzo 1978. 29 anni prima, era nato nello stesso giorno l’autore, Antonello Venditti. Proprio per questo, il titolo, profondamente autobiografico, è Sotto Il Segno Dei Pesci. Dico subito che nello scatolone ho la fortuna di avere una prima edizione originale: la stupenda copertina di Mario Convertino, designer celeberrimo di fortunatissime copertine di album e uno dei primi ad usare la grafica in TV (Mister Fantasy del 1981, di cui cura sigla e grafica, alle videosigle de La Domenica Sportiva nel 1986, e persino la grafica delle partite dei Mondiali di Italia '90) insieme ai due pesci colorati vi sono in rilievo i dodici segni dello Zodiaco. Venditti arriva a questo disco dopo un percorso artistico particolare. L’inizio, famosissimo, è al Folkstudio, il locale romano dove stringe amicizia con Giorgio Lo Cascio, Ernesto Bassignano e soprattutto Francesco De Gregori: a quel momento dedica una delle strofe più famose della canzone italiana, quattro ragazzi con la chitarra e il pianoforte sulla spalla, di Notte Prima Degli Esami. La It di Vincenzo Micocci gli dà l’opportunità di fare un disco insieme a De Gregori, e nasce così nel 1972 Theoruis Campus. Il disco segna però un distacco tra i due, su cui la stampa musicale ha ricamato cose assurde e per la maggior parte inventate (su tutte che Pianobar di De Gregori fosse indirizzata a lui). Segue quindi il percorso di un cantautorato febbrile e intenso, estroverso e popolare, incentrato sulla passione per la sua città, Roma (a cui dedicherà veri e propri inni, come Roma Capoccia, E Li Ponti So’ Soli da L’Orso Bruno del 1973, Campo De’ Fiori da Quando Verrà Natale del 1974, e sul raccontare storie forti e niente affatto scontate. Tra queste ultime, Mio Padre Ha Un Buco In Gola (Le Cose Della Vita, 1973) sugli attriti generazionali, Canzone Per Seveso (da Ullalà, 1977) per l’ecologia, e soprattutto una carrellata di canzoni dedicate a figure femminili che faranno epoca, come Lilly (dall’omonimo album del 1975), struggente, una delle prime canzoni italiane scritte sulla droga, Maria Maddalena (1977), sulla prostituzione.

Sotto Il Segno Dei Pesci uscirà una settimana prima del sequestro Moro. Ne diventerà suo malgrado una sorta di colonna sonora, in un disco cruciale che assomma, in una maniera decisiva la contestazione e il riflusso, le storie dell’amore intimo e l’impegno per le lotte sociali, le speranze pubbliche e le frustrazioni quotidiani. Ne è esempio il ritornello, che conosciamo tutti, della title track, dedicata alla storia di Marina e di Giovanni (due veri suoi amici) delle loro paure sul futuro, del cambiare città perchè “Tutto quel che voglio, pensavo\È solamente amore\Ed unità per noi\Che meritiamo un'altra vita\Più giusta e libera se vuoi\Corri, amore, corri, non aver paura”. È il disco con cui “ricompone” con De Gregori: gli dedica la scarna e delicata Francesco, (Possiamo ancora suoniamo ancora l'ultima volta\Senza rimpianti, senza paura\Come due amici antichi\E nient'altro di più di più di più) e soprattutto Bomba O Non Bomba, che parla di due ragazzi, Antonello e Francesco (De Gregori, naturalmente), e ripercorre il cammino dei due protagonisti, e gli incontri fatti, a Sasso Marconi, Roncobilaccio, Firenze e Orvieto (in ordine cronologico le uscite dell’Autostrada Del Sole, direzione Roma), per raggiungere il successo, rappresentato da Roma come meta finale. È anche un disco per le donne: Sara (“svegliati è primavera”) è una toccante storia di una ragazza incinta, amica della prima moglie Simona Izzo al Liceo Mamiami di Roma, di un ragazzo “mammome e anaffettivo” (Ma Sara, mi devo laureare, e forse un giorno ti sposerò\Magari in chiesa (…) tu non sei più sola, il tuo amore gli basterà\Il tuo bambino, se ci credi nascerà); Giulia è invece la prima canzone che parla apertamente di un amore lesbico all’interno di una coppia eterosessuale, il punto di vista del testo è dell’uomo che si trova a ragionare sull’allontanamento della sua amata, la canzone è un gioiello del disco, potente e struggente, È Giulia che ti tocca\È Giulia che ti porta\Via da me (…) Lei è solo troppo anche per te\Lei è solo un po' confusa\E ti prego non portarla\Via da me. C’è pure la canzone sociale di Chen Il Cinese, la deliziosa Il Telegiornale, che sembra scritta adesso “TG1, TG2, che confusione\Ma almeno rimane il pregio dell'informazione\E tra una smentita e l'altra e un sorriso ministeriale\Ci fa capire che le cose non vanno poi\Troppo male.

Il disco fu registrato a Roma nei Trafalgar Recording Studios e a Londra ai Marquee Studios; il tecnico del suono è Gaetano Ria, che si occupa anche del missaggio insieme a Tim Painter. Tra i musicisti sono da ricordare i componenti del gruppo degli Stradaperta, già collaboratori di Venditti in Lilly; anche Carlo Siliotto e Pablo Romero avevano già suonato con il cantautore (entrambi nell'album Quando verrà Natale), ed inoltre suona nell'album il tastierista dei Goblin, Claudio Simonetti. Durante le session dell'album venne registrata anche un'altra canzone, Italia, che però non venne inserita nel disco (solo nel 1982 sarà pubblicata in Sotto La Pioggia). Il disco venderà tantissimo: 700.000 copie quell’anno, Sotto Il Segno Dei Pesci\Sara singolo Numero Uno, riuscendo, come pochissimi, a intuire l’umore della piazza. Perché è un fatto che forse per la sua produzione quantitativamente molto elevata rispetto ad altri grandi cantautori, e spesso per alcune sue scelte facili, abbia sempre avuto critica feroce. Il problema della “musica commerciale” è la scusa di chi deve per forza contestare le scelte artistiche non per quelle che sono (un lavoro artistico ha tutto il diritto di essere considerato brutto). Venditti fu accusato di disimpegno negli anni ’80, su cui per anni la critica ha ironizzato sul suo intimismo da supermercato, seppure nonostante dischi non così belli come questo scriverà inni generazionali, ne elenco un paio: Ci Vorrebbe Un Amico e Notte Prima Degli Esami nel 1984 da Cuore, In Questo Mondi Di Ladri del 1988 che venderà più di un Milione di Copie, Alta Marea, cover di Don’t Dream It’s Over dei Crowded House del 1991. 1. Fortnight — 5/10, I genuinely don’t think I’ll like it, maybe it’s bc the AI version on tiktok isn’t my style at ALL and kinda ruined it for me. Plus the title doesn’t stick out at all and I’m so sad that this song is track 1, esp considering her most recent album Midnights had an iconic opening track.

2. The Tortured Poets Department — 8/10, I always LOVE her title tracks and I’m so excited for this one.

3. My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys — 7/10, the title doesn’t really stick out to me but I feel like it’s gonna end up being an amazingly catchy song. Negative points for the easy rhyme. (“boy” “toy”)

4. Down Bad — 10/10, I’M CLAIMING THIS SONG IDC IDC, I HAVE SUCH HIGH HOPES
