You might be in recovery IF… OCCASIONALLY…. I wish I could go back to when everything about living sober was bright, shiny, and new. Then I realize that to do that I’d have to go through all the other 💩 that comes with those early days and it’s a big HELL NAHH from me 😂 • • • • #pinkcloud #weirdflexbutok #rule62 #recoveryhumor #addicthumor #funnymemes #sobermemes #recoverymemes #addictionmemes #12stepmemes #alcoholicmemes #itsjustjokespeople #itsnotthatserious #wearenotaglumlot #alcoholicsanonymous #friendofbillw #sober #sobriety #recovering #soberaf #soberlife #sobercurious #soberfun #recoverywin #sobermovement #recoveroutloud #wedorecover #recoveryispossible https://www.instagram.com/p/CqZM2zdMrD5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

there is no shame in being an alcoholic. there is no shame in being any kind of addict. it's a chronic illness and anti-addict stigma is ableist.
it's okay to exist and voice your struggle. in fact, it's encouraged. even if you never recover or don't intend on recovering, your voice matters.

Anger
I had an epiphany today. Sometimes in life, there are people, places or things that disappoint us. There are situations that unfold in ways other than what we had hoped for - that good old expectations vs reality issue - and there are people who let us down, which is no surprise, as humans often do that to one another. Inevitably, we end up hurt. It seems like more and more these days, humans just act and react without putting much thought or intention into how they might make others feel.
Getting hurt sucks. And it's funny how, when people, places, or things let us down or hurt us, intentionally or unintentionally, we often look to other peoples, places or things to fill that void. I know I did. I was instantly looking for what or who would make me forget how I felt, and that's a dangerous place to be in, because if we are already hurting, we are likely to be careless with the remedies we seek for our pain. We may end up hurt even worse than before.
But it was while nursing my emotional wounds that I realized that for many years, when I felt this way, I would intentionally hold on to anger. I wanted to feel angry and pissed off at people or situations, because being angry was a lot more comfortable than being hurt. Being hurt makes us feel weak and vulnerable, especially when we have unknowingly opened ourselves up more to others than we realized. Our self esteem feels targeted and raw, because we start to question why we would be treated in an unfair manner, and what we must have done wrong to deserve that. And while there is time for introspection, when that kind of crack in our armor is apparent, that introspection usually leads us down the path of beating ourselves up, tearing ourselves down, and wishing we could be or had been different. It's not conducive to growth, it is conducive to self-pity.
But feeling that kind of hurt really makes us question ourselves, like how could we be so foolish to fall for someone's charm and lies, or how could we have let ourselves get caught up in that situation, or maybe we should have behaved differently, or done more, or done less. It is so much harder to live in the guttural feeling of pain than to be filled with anger against that person or situation. For years I have held on to anger intentionally. I can distinctly remember feeling pain so sharp from a situation that I made a legitimate choice within my mind to not be broken by it, but to get angry. Anger gives us a sense of power. We feel justified. We feel mighty. We feel domineering when we can lord over someone or something our bitterness and resentment, because by god they deserve it. And anger can act as a catalyst for change within us. I can't even begin to think of how many times I've gotten fed up in situations and have decided to use that anger to become better than I was before, because don't they know it?! I could really show them then!
But anger is not a substitution for true power. Anger is its own shackle, it ties round our feet, it binds our hands, and like an anchor, we sink to the depths. Anger is a talisman around our neck that chokes the happiness and progress out of us and our numbered days on this earth. As long as we hang on to the anger against people, places, and things, and as long as we choose to restrict ourselves with resentments, we will be tied to those people, places, and things for always.
It is extremely hard to carry the weight of our suffering, it is extremely hard to accept that people will disappoint us and hurt us and we rarely ever see the consequences that come to those who do us wrong, that we are certain they deserve. It is even harder to carry that weight, to sit with it and accept it for what it is, and then to let it go - but we must. We must because we want to live free. We want to fight through the sorrow and see the light. We want to be relieved of our burdens, but in life, we are never truly free of them, we just have to learn how to carry them. So much of removing our burdens is actually just learning to restructure the weight on our backs.
I know my heart is chipped every time I am hurt and disappointed by people because I am a loving, compassionate person and I can't pretend I am unaffected by what people say and do, or what they don't say and don't do. But the easiest way to begin to let go of that person or situation is to own up and admit to my part in resenting them so that I am not chained to them for as long as I can stay mad. It's not easy, but few things worthwhile rarely are. Today I will work on learning to move on from feeling hurt, without developing the attachment to what hurt me, by moving through and beyond anger. Because I want to be free.

How Can Addiction Counseling Help?
Tumblr media
Addiction counseling, including services like TalkToAngel counseling, plays a crucial role in helping individuals overcome substance abuse and addiction. Here's how addiction counseling can help:
Assessment and Individualized Treatment Plans: Addiction counselors conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand the unique circumstances and needs of each client. Based on this assessment, they develop personalized treatment plans tailored to the individual's specific addiction and situation.
Emotional Support: Counselors provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to express their thoughts and emotions related to addiction. This emotional support can be essential in the recovery process, helping clients cope with guilt, shame, and other complex feelings.
Behavioral Therapy: Addiction counseling often involves evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These therapies help clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors associated with addiction.
Relapse Prevention: Counselors work with clients to develop relapse prevention strategies. Clients learn to recognize triggers, develop coping skills, and create plans to avoid or manage situations that could lead to relapse.
Education: Addiction counselors provide education about the nature of addiction, its physical and psychological effects, and the recovery process. This knowledge empowers clients to make informed decisions about their recovery.
TalkToAngel counseling, like other reputable online counseling services, can provide these essential elements of addiction counseling through a convenient and accessible platform. Whether in-person or online, addiction counseling can be a lifeline for individuals looking to break free from the grip of addiction and build a healthier, substance-free life.

At the age of 60, Metallica's frontman James Hetfield has added another tattoo to his collection. The new ink was first seen during the band's historic weekend at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, where they broke the single-show attendance record. During the Friday performance on August 25, Hetfield's neck was noticeably free of any new tattoos, as ...

I’ve always been told “the easiest way to tell who’s losing an argument, is to determine who’s talking/yelling the loudest.” I used to whine, b!tch, moan, and point fingers. Everyone and everything else was the cause of my problems… not me! Right… we’ll we know how that one goes 🤣 • • • • #recoveryhumor #recoverymemes #addictionmemes #sobermemes #12stepmemes #alcoholicsanonymousmemes #stayinmyownlane #cleanyoursideofthestreet #catmemes #rule62 #addicthumor #soberhumor #wedorecover #recoveryispossible #odaat #justfortoday #alcoholicsanonymous #friendsofbillw #fyp #recoveryworks #soberthoughts #soberblogger #recoveryblog https://www.instagram.com/p/CpL2c9LuS6-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
