its been a billion years since I posted anything meaningful about mcga but I'm thinking about Alex helping Magnus with clothes.

I think Blitzen would love to help style Magnus, but I think he might accidentally end up being a bit overbearing, albeit with good intentions. He wants to help, but would probably end up tripping over his own fashion opinions more often than not, and Magnus would want to make his friend happy too much to actually voice his own opinions consistently. But Alex would understand that identity through fashion is something slow to be discovered on your own. It's not instant, it's a slow process of trying things and finding out what makes you feel good physically and emotionally. You can't pressure a person finding their own style, especially someone who's never had much room to do so and will likely feel guilty about making that room. She's gone through the process, and she'd probably be more than happy to help someone with it too.

I'm thinking about them going around to different stores and finding that Magnus likes second hand and low-end boutique stuff more than anything. Alex letting him onto her etsy account and buying his first piece of jewelry, taking him around to all of her favorite stores where she's greeted as a friend. Yeah, they could do all this in Valhalla, but where's the fun in that?

I think Magnus would like earth tones and dark, muted colors. He would avoid synthetic materials for their unnaturally soft textures and blue would make rare appearances. Alex would parade him around in his first pair of White Guy Khaki Shorts in five years, glowing with a silly sort of pride and Magnus feeling something kindle back to life in his chest at a growing collection or flannels, just like his mom. I'm imagining Magnus learning what it's like to live with his body, rather than despite it, and feel comfortable with himself in his surroundings for the first time since he was a little kid, taking a hike in the woods. And I'm thinking of Alex holding his hand the whole time.

Riordanverse characters who never interact in canon, yet I'm convinced they'd be best friends: A compiled list with explanations because I think about this way to often.

1) Georgina (Trials of Apollo) & Harley (Heroes of Olympus & Trials of Apollo)

There are four works in the Georgina & Harley tag on ao3, and all four have been written by me, that's how series I am about this friendship.

Firstly, I headcanon that the reason there's no year rounders during The Sun and The Star is because most of them decided to go to Waystation to attend school. Harley's eight in The Hidden Oracle and has already been at camp for at least a year and a half, minimum (as he's in the Hephaestus Cabin in The Lost Hero, and it's stated that no Hephaestus kid as come to camp in months before Leo), so why else would he all of a sudden not be a year rounder? He's certainly not staying to fight in the wars like some other demigods.

Now, back to Georgie and Harley. They're only a year apart, if that, and the other is probably the first person they've ever met close to their age, which would definitely spark friendship. Secondly, both of them have a sibling-like relationship with Leo (I almost started sobbing when Leo told Harley about how he was the one who helped him find his way back home in The Hidden Oracle, Leo and Harley are such an underrated sibling pair), which will bond them. And three, both are incredibly artistic and love building things. Just imagine Georgie and Harley drawing plans for the Waystation together? Adorable.

2) Kayla Knowles (Percy Jackson & Trials of Apollo) & Sadie Kane (Kane Chronicles)

They'd dye their hair together, chew bubblegum and eat lollypops, complain about their nerdy older brothers, and show off their skills to each other. They'd be an unstoppable duo.

3) Alex Fierro (Magnus Chase) & Lavinia Asimov (Trials of Apollo)

Queer kid with a designated color pallet, a non-common weapon, whom is incredibly artistic? You can't tell whether I'm talking about Alex or Lavinia (hint, it's both)

Match made in Elysium (or Valhalla in Alex's case). Lavinia would show Alex some simple tap steps, and Alex would show off her pottery skills, and teach some to Lavinia. Lavinia thinks Alex's garrote is the coolest thing ever, and Alex keeps petitioning for a manuballista fight in Valhalla. (Odin has not agreed yet, but Alex is not deterred in the slightest).

4) Kayla Knowles, Sadie Kane, Alex Fierro, & Lavinia Asimov

You're not surprised in the slightest, are you? These four make a deadly quartet of died hair, weapons, and bubblegum, and I adore them for it. As for why I did Kayla & Sadie and Lavinia & Alex seperately, it's because I think they'd be closest with their respectively friend pairing, but also they'd make a great friend group. I'm already in love.

5) Hazel Levesque (Heroes of Olympus & Trials of Apollo) & Butch Walker (Heroes of Olympus)

Intimidating son of a non-intimidating goddess and a non-intimidating daughter of an intimidating god. Also, they both adore horses, and I could totally see them hanging out in the Pegasus stables when Hazel's visiting Camp Half-Blood.

6) Nico di Angelo (Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, & The Sun and the Star) & Blanche (Chalice of the Gods)

The second Child of Hades/Pluto & Child of Iris friendship??? But seriously, these two would be besties. Both only ever dress in monochromatic clothing, and Blanche is literally known for her ghost stories at camp and Nico is the Ghost King? Blanche would beg Nico to help her out with her photography—the Hades Cabin is literally her aesthetic to the tee, and she loves photographing dead things. Nico would summon a skeleton so she could photograph it on dead grass Nico accidently killed.

And if they did joint ghost stories? All I'm saying is they could charge an admission fee and the amphitheatre would still be full. (The effects they can do with Blanche's, well blanching, power, and Nico's shadow manipulating would go insane)

7) Piper McLean (Heroes of Olympus & Trials of Apollo) and Silena Beauregard (Percy Jackson)

They would be that sibling pair at camp, and it's such a horror that we never got to experience it.

Silena would help Piper tap into her more feminine side, and show her that not all femininity is bad—which Piper has a lot of trauma revolving—and I think would help Piper come to terms with her feelings for Jason and her queerness a lot faster than it actually happened, because Silena would help her talk through it instead of bottling it up. (Besides, Silena knows all about crushing on boys and girls *cough* Beckendorf and Clarisse *cough*).

In turn, I think Piper would help Silena with her fighting skills and strength. Yes, Silena has Clarisse, but Clarisse is a hit hard and don't back down fighter, while Piper would be more patient, which is what Silena would need. Also, they both know what it's like to be manipulated and have to make choices about whether or not their friends and family will live or die, and that's a common ground for them both.

8) Nico di Angelo & Mitchell (Heroes of Olympus)

This is solely because of the fic, Gurrlfriend by Erikthonius on ao3. Honestly, if you've read that, you'd understand where I'm coming from. I don't have any other evidence besides that.

THE SITUATION

hmmm growing uncertain and bored of doctor who because i discovered that a lot of its concepts aren’t that original and i’m scared it’s becoming mcuified -> wait but what does that actually mean. i need to watch some mcu movies to see what i’m trying to complain about (know thine enemy) -> wow. watched iron man. this sucks real bad. gotg was fun i guess but i don’t want to watch any more -> haven’t seen any of the thor movies but damn, heard this loki show was timeywimey and an affectionate homage to the blue police box show. which by now i kind of miss :( -> well this show is good sci-fantasy, isn’t it? has its flaws, but fun and high-concept -> hmm but i actually don’t like the.. protagonist. why is he espousing “law and order for the greater good” rhetoric all of a sudden. that’s so antithetical to his mythological prototype it’s laughable!! does a redemption arc really have to involve going from eternal anarchist to liberal? … wait but he was never an anarchist in marvel. he sought power. that’s stupid. loki doesn’t want to rule with an iron fist he wants to play pranks on his friends -> i should reread the norse mythology book i had on my shelf. to clear the air -> who all remember alex fierro? -> why have i been drawn to tricksters my whole life. beyond the obvious queerness stereotype. i’m boring and autistic and had to sculpt myself a sense of humour from raw clay. i used to be gullible and now i get called mean and distrustful? -> me when i lie -> whatever. crisis time. remember when i used to be a wiccan? forced myself to believe in the divine feminine? the altars and candles and incense and offerings and divination and all that jazz were cool though. i miss that. just spare the misogyny -> the warm telltale buzz of an adhd hyperfixation

A/N tbh hate the aesthetic pic for Alex might change it...Anyway hope you enjoy!! also sorry if you didn't want it romantic.

You've been in Valhalla for around the same time as Magnus. You even helped him when he had to go on those crazy quests. You were also there when Alex got there. 

You didn't like Alex at first. When Alex first got there and changed into a wildcat and started running around she stepped on your foot and ruined some of your stuff which made you be well…mean to Alex. 

Of course Alex was mean and sarcastic too but that was just her personality. You did start to get along after a little bit Which totally wasn't because Magnus made you to be friends because he couldn't  handle all the comments and insults thrown around. 

Anyway after all of you defeated Loki. You and Alex started to become closer until eventually you started dating. It wasn't much of a surprise to your friends as loads of them shipped you two. 

Alex likes your personality a lot. It reminded her of herself and it was easier to get along with you. Plus you both could bounce off of each other with insults to your friends. 

One time before you both started dating you were sat in the dining hall and were talking to your friends about Alex. 

You sighed. “You know Magnus I tried to be nice but then Alex happens and it ruins all of my progress.” 

Magnus’s eyes went somewhere behind you. “Alex is behind me isnt she?” You turned around and looked up. Alex raised an eyebrow at you. 

“Are you gonna say it to my face?” Alex taunted with a stupid smirk on her face. 

“You ruin all my progress of kindness” She seemed surprised you actually said it. You turned back around to sit normally. 

Alex rolled her eyes and moved to sit in the only empty seat. Across from you. 

That was one of the times you realized you may have liked Alex. There were other times when you realized it like this one time that totally did not involve arson. 

You and Magnus decided to go to one of the training areas to fight for fun. Now you both were standing outside the room that was currently on fire. 

Alex along with others ran up to you. “What did you do!?” Alex yelled looking at you. “Nothing!” His eyes narrowed. Alex knew it was probably you who set the room on fire. 

“Okay well I did commit a touch of arson but really it's Magnus’s fault” You pointed behind you to where Magnus was standing. “What!” Magnus yelled, raising his hands. “I didn't do anything!” 

You rolled your eyes. Can't Magnus take the blame for once?  

“Shut up Kurt Cobain wannabe take the blame” You whispered to him. Magnus looked at you offended.

Alex seemed to have heard you and he rolled his eyes. He grabbed both of your arms and started dragging you. “Your both grounded” 

Alex continued to drag you both to your room. He shoved Magnus in his and slammed the door. Then he dragged you into yours but stayed in. 

“Why are you staying?” You asked with narrowed eyes. Maybe Alex would actually murder you this time.

He shrugged his shoulders. “I wanted to see your room” You sighed and turned to jump on the small couch in your room. 

You could see his eyes dart around until they landed on a wall. 

“Is that a wall of knives?” Alex asked.

You turned to see where he was pointing. “Yes!” Alex noticed that you seemed excited about it. “Why?” He asked. 

“It's my emotional support knife collection.” You turned your head back and smiled up at him. “Maybe one day i'll get to use one on you” 

“Was that a threat?” 

“Did it sound like a complement?” You tilted your head. 

Alex didn't reply and turned to leave. “Are you leaving?” you called out from the couch. 

Alex turned back around but kept walking backwards. “Yes Y/n that is the point of turning around and walking to the door.” 

“Fine bye”

Alex opened the door and left. You didn't realize you were smiling at the door until a minute later. You rolled your eyes at yourself. Hopefully this crush would go away. 

Another time during a Valhalla battle Alex got hurt but not enough to die. 

You were standing near Alex while your other friends were off fighting. She was leaning on a wall trying not to fall over from her wounds. Alex knew she would heal which is why she was just waiting. 

You tilted your head at how much blood Alex had on her. You couldn't even see the designs she once had on her shirt. 

“If you pass out I'm not catching you” You blurted out. 

Alex rolled her eyes. “Remind me to kill you later” 

“Oh of course I'll set a timer incase i forget!” You said sarcastically. Alex sighed “This healing thing is taking to long just kill me already” 

“I dropped my weapon back on the field so…” 

“Of course you did” Alex muttered and moved to grab something from the belt she had on. It was a knife. 

“Oh! A knife, are you flirting with me?” You teased as you grabbed the knife from her hands. She locked eyes with you. “You need therapy” 

“I know!” You said and quickly killed her. Obviously she would come back but even just killing her felt a little weird. You kept having to repeat in your head that she would come back. 

Finally moving on to the time you finally kissed her. Or well she finally kissed you. 

You both were alone which seemed to happen a lot these past few weeks. It seemed your friends got super busy lately. 

You all were supposed to meet in one of the movie theaters in Valhalla to watch a movie. So now it was just you and Alex. Sitting right next to each other for some reason.

You sighed again. “My hands are cold” You whispered not expecting Alex to hear you. 

“I'm tired of you complaining” Before you could think of what she meant she grabbed your hands and held them. 

Your eyes widened. Alex Fierro was holding your hands. 

Before you could think about what you were about to say you blurted it out “You know what for some reason my lips are getting cold too” 

Alex turned to you a little surprised. You were also surprised at what you said but were even more surprised at what Alex did. She leaned in and kissed you. You kissed back. 

You broke apart from Alex. She turned back to the movie. “Now be quiet, I want to watch in silence.” You nodded your head and listened to her. 

Maybe you were glad that the crush never went away.

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

I like Loki because of how complicated he is as a character. I'm generally a big fan of characters that are antiheroes, or otherwise fall somewhere between the hero/villain divide, and I'm a sucker for a well-done redemption arc. And there are a lot of other things I like about him too - his magic, his charm, his complicated relationship with his family.

I like Aziraphale because he's just such a ray of sunshine. He has his darker moments, and those are absolutely powerful, but he's just so damn likeable. He enjoys human things and wants the best for humanity, he wishes even to the point of naivety that he can change Heaven for the better, he loves so much about so many things and it's wonderful. I don't see how you can't like Aziraphale.

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

For Loki, genderqueerness/genderfluidity babyyy! Loki is actually a good chunk of how I realized I was genderqueer (one part from seeing how many Marvel fans headcanon him as genderfluid, one part of reading about the actual mythology, and one part from reading the Magnus Chase series and absolutely loving Alex Fierro as a character). I know that's not all strictly Marvel's Loki, but he plays a role in it

For Aziraphale, it's being a bibliophile for one, and trying to find beauty and pleasure in the little things for another. I tend to get caught up in worries about the future, but I've been trying to counteract that by forcing myself to pay attention to what I like about the little moments - like a cup of cocoa or a plate of sushi

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

I really like genderfluid Loki, for one, that much should be obvious. I also really like when people really accentuate his magic the way the movies should've done (we get more in the first Thor movie but then it trickles out).

I LOVE all the depictions of Aziraphale where he just looks so very pleasant and huggable and soft. Michael Sheen in the show is already a very warm-looking gentleman, but some of the fanarts I've seen are just on another level. Pure, concentrated angelic love.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

- currently there’s been 2 songs stuck in my head. Into my arms by the Maine- there was this one specific part that’s goes she had the most amazing…smile. Bet you didn’t expect it she made me change my ways… and the lyric play was really cute. It was sung as if intending to say smthg sexual but he just went ‘smile’ instead and ties it in with how the listener prolly didn’t expect him to say that either implying that she “changed” him. It’s funnier considering later on he comments abt how she had “legs that went on for days” it gives a “I’m more well versed and mature now but at the end of the day im still a Man (/pos)” I found it really cute. Oh and Cupid is so dumb from Cupid by fifty fifty cause mood

- there is a character from Rick riordans magnus chase series, their name is Alex fierro. I had a very weird relationship with gender?? Aesthetics?? You could say? When I was young. I just had a lot of moment where I didn’t really like my long/short hair or jsut how I looked too fem/masc. Alex (other than being a total badass and child of mischief) was gender-fluid and I looked up to them a lot so ye.

- oh that’s hard I like a lot of them ;-;. I guess the highest I can possibly think of rn is inversion’s more than a promise and right here. I just love the deep conversations asher and David and Damien and Huxley had amidst all that chaos. And how they were there for each other. The voice acting was chef kiss and I was crying.

Oh, this is easy. I’ve thought actively about the parallels between BNHA and Redacted characters, and Asher Talbot is the Denki Kaminari who’d love a black/ginger cat partner.

First things first, I like your music taste for him; you seem to like really fun music that brings you joy, and I think Asher would always vibe with it, you know? I can easily see him singing along with “Into My Arms” while y’all are riding along in the car and giving you this cheeky grin when that verse comes on. He feels charming, clever, and cute singing it even though he didn’t write it, but goddammit, he is really cute though.

Another fun thing is that I think you’d both like a lot of the same things! Asher definitely strikes me as having been a Percy Jackson/Magnus Chase kid, playing Camp Half-Blood campers with the other Shaw kids, deciding who would be in whose cabin. Asher’s one of the Redacted bois who I can see as an anime fan- BNHA, One Piece, Naruto definitely but not ashamed to watch a little shoujo, a little Horimiya perhaps.

One, this song is super cute and romantic and singable. It’s a sweet, little bop; I highly recommend it. Two, it’s a song about Tamaki Amajiki being in love with Mirio, an introvert in love with their comfort, sunshine, golden retriever extrovert. It works beautifully.

It’s literally a love song that sounds like it’s pining over a ex, but it’s actually about fictional characters setting your standards too high, it’s really good. Also, you could never talk too much. Okay but like if any demigod has daddy issues it’s Alex, I mean there’s his mortal parent that hates her and kicked her out, also Loki does fall into the parent/dad category, Alex does mention Loki would show up to her mortal dads/her house to try to ‘parent him’, which is why I added the songs daddy issues by the neighborhood on the aesthetic thing I made for Alex

And the song nobody cause there’s some lyrics that say ‘I’ve grown big and small again and still nobody wants me’ cause she very prob felt hated by her dad and step mom and didn’t have many friends when he was younger. Also ‘and I don’t want your pity’ Alex doesn’t like people like pitying her.

And then there’s the album cover of the song freak, the one that’s like ‘I am just a freak’ I don’t think I need an explanation for that
