I spent time with some cats and a very hyper dog today :3

I had to heavily drug myself with Benadryl and wasn’t very “with it” but that’s ok - I got some great cuddles in.

Related note: I’d like to use the saying “it’s the cat’s meow” more because it just makes so much sense haha

I am allergic to cats.

I volunteered to take my friend's cat for the week. I've never had a cat. And I naively thought that it would be a piece of cake. Animals like me and I like them mostly. (Horses terrify me, okay)

Turns out I'm little more allergic than I was aware... mostly just sneezing and crying my eyes out. It didn't even start immediately. It started half a day after I got her.

Yeah, that's fine. No biggie. But that gremlin didn't let me to sleep! She banged every goddamn door she could find and open. Just enough noise to be irritating. At 6 AM she finally settled. Apparently now would be perfect time for her beauty sleep.

Now I truly understand that you don't own a cat, cat owns you. My entire being is dedicated for that cat this week.

Update:

I found out I could be allergic to the cat litter. It would explain a lot.

Can I ask you what motivated you to fluctuate so widely on the cat scale for your pet choices? Like your first one is an ailing elfin waith, then you just got a standard cat, and now you have a purebred house goblin and those are all very different vibes. Are you trying to complete some sort of collection or something? (Also special request that pangur get a little kissy and be told how loved she is)

oh sure, it’s always been about allergies! there are breeds that (generally) produce less of the protein in their saliva that triggers allergies, and breeds that shed less (and so release less allergens into the environment). that’s what I’ve targeted.

Grim is half-Bengal, and has never triggered a reaction in me. Pangur is an Oriental Longhair, and has never triggered a reaction in anyone! and Belphie is a Devon Rex, and surprisingly…..I did react to him at first, though I no longer do. other people with allergies have been able to handle him without any reaction, though.

in contrast, Wednesday is a normal cat that I lived with for nearly a decade, and I never stopped reacting to him. he’d want to cuddle with me, and I’d have to move away because I didn’t want watery eyes and a throat full of mucus. it made me feel so sorry for him!

My sister's boyfriend's Cat.

I'm allergic so we keep the cats out of my room (living room turned into mine). There are 2 openings for the cats to get in.

1) The hallway. We put up a baby gate and curtain. And that seems to do the trick.

2) A small opening between kitchen and living room (like a window). We taped up a curtain.

The Cat: This will not stop me.

Rather than hang out with her owner or my sister (who met the cat before me), she wants to be with me... The one who's... ya know... Allergic.
