um truth be told my love i have been in SUCH a slump lately,,,, its been tough out here.

i only read like 3 books very recently (last month or so)

I did read All The Little Raindrops by Mia Sheridan my QUEEN. its like a mystery thriller with a side of romance!!! Sheridan's books are ALWAYS a hit (she's very popular for her booktok famous Archer's Voice? And Travis !!) I've read like. most of her books at this point. I have never devoted myself to an author so much. She got me into the whole thriller genre and I LOVE her. so much. ITS SO GOOD AAAA. its not for the faint of heart and on more than once i find myself with the need to throw up with how HORRIFYING and messed up some of this stuff is (most of her thriller books are not for the faint of heart. lots of horrific stuff that is all too real and it makes it 10x more disturbing). Anyway i loved it i think i gave it a 4/5 stars it was so so good

2. i ALSO started Ana Huang's If Love series. I literally never shut up about Ana Huang like. EVER and i had been wanting to read this for a while and IM SO GLAD I GOT IT STARTED !!! Its a LOT less popular than hr Twisted and Kings of Sin series; she wrote it well before she got popular/published but its so good. its def not Twisted/Kings of Sin series but it makes it sooo clear how much she's grown in her writing, character development and general story telling!!! I read the first 2 books and UGHGUGHUFGHUFGHG yeah. new comfort series fr fr fr fr.

I also got digging through Lynn Painter's works (Love Wager, Mr Wrong Number, Better Than The Movies, etc) 10/10 her rom coms are sacred to me. this was a while ago though like. months ago lmao but i think abt her books always!!!

OH OH OMG I READ BIRTHDAY GIRL BY PENELOPE DOUGLAS !!!! SOME TIME AGO!!! yeah it changed my brain chemistry. i dont remember if i told you or not. but it changed my life. i think about it always.

edit: omg shut up i forgot i read some banger books months ago that i did not mention. i ate up Liz Tomforde's sports romance series (Windy City series) it was SO FREAKING GOOD. she had hockey romance, she had basketball romance she had BASEBALL ROMANCE. 10/10 amazing vibes

I ate through the latest of Lauren Asher's (Love Redesigned) IT WAS ALSO HELLA GOOD!! Ana Huang's King of Greed was also a vibe. not my fav but it was good. I ALSO delved into hockey romance SOOO DEEP. Fav series is probably Becka Mack's Playing For Keeps. It's the silliest stupidest fluffy no plot head empty series ever. the first book is 90% porn. its just for the giggles. the second is a bit better but the third is def the best in terms of actual plot & character development for example but the vibes are astronomical and i live for them

i ALSO started reading Sarah Adam's small town romance series (very very good). All fluffy fall vibes. CHLOE GONG HAD COME OUT WITH A NEW BOOK IN THE SUMMER AND I GOT TO IT AROUND THE NEW YEAR AND IT WAS SOOO GOOOD. Immortal Longings mm......she destroyed me once again.

Hi India. What is with fan's obsession for Harry to disappear? For the past several months I see that whenever he says something it is taken out of context or exaggerated to be a hint or confirmation that he's taking a long break, and under most posts about him people are saying they'll miss him but they better not see him for at least a year. It feels super controlling and I wonder if it's tied to that anon Gina? got a while back saying that after tour Harry was going to disappear and focus on raising a family with Louis. Is that why fans so desperately want to see him disappear? I don't think it's weird for him to say he's going away for a bit after tour. What is the alternative? Touring up until he releases HS4 and then start another? He's been doing LOT for 2-3 years and it needs refreshing. He'll need new visuals, outfits etc. If he was having a long tour break (years) I would have thought he'd say as HSHQ could easily capitalize off his last few shows. Imo he's working on HS4 now and that's why he did the LA and NY residencies so he had access to writing/recording in one place. He also had Kid Harpoon with him during the residencies, Japan and now London. He's probably writing or recording inbetween these 4 Wembley shows and the days before and after. Obviously I might be wrong and maybe he'll elaborate more in his other shows. But I just hate the desperation for him to disappear and I don't know that it's in his best interests. He says a million times how much he loves performing and fans still say he's being forced to do it by Jeff.

Love, I don’t know which blogs you’re following, but everyone I’m following isn’t “desperate” for him to disappear. I think you might be reading the wrong blogs or misunderstanding the tone of the blogs you’re reading.

People (that I follow at least) want him to disappear because he’s had a frenetic three years. Between Fine Line, HSLOT1, DWD, My Policeman, Harry’s House, ONO, HSLOT2, he’s been going at it nonstop. I think people are very protective of him pacing his work because many of us remember how worked to the bone 1D was when they were active, and though we know the situation is different, it doesn’t mean we can’t express vocal support for him taking the time to rest and also recharge creatively.

I’ve not seen anyone on my dash relate it at all to that anon (which IMO was really just an inquisitive theory with no real teeth to back it up). (Also, if you’re getting the drama from Twitter… um… don’t.)

As for why people keep saying they’ll miss him, well, it’s because we will. It’s nice to know when you’re seeing an artist you’re a fan of next. It’s nice to have new music or a new project to look forward to. It’s not anything more than the fact that we got used to seeing him, and now we have to get used to the idea of not knowing when he’ll pop up next. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe there’s a bit of apprehension because we haven’t heard anything tangible about a re-signing to Columbia, and we know he had a three album deal, so Harry’s House is technically the last album we’re guaranteed, but I personally think that’s by design. It keeps us on our toes, it keeps us wondering, it makes the announcement all the more anticipated and delicious when it comes, and it also alleviates the pressure on him to create/work on break.

It’s really not anything dramatic, at least not for me.

Hi, hello!

Um, I’ve been avoiding this intro bc I am a shy awkward hermit that usually just lurks and likes stuff, but that doesn’t really work on Tumblr so here I am! Plus I wanted to use Whumptober to force myself into sharing my writing and figured it might be useful to introduce myself first.

You can call me starlit, or anna, or hey you, I don’t really care lol. She/her pronouns. I love reading fantasy & fantasy romance, writing, and playing RPG video games when I have the time (usually fantasy based-are we sensing a theme here? 😂)

I tend to use emojis excessively, but don’t expect me to know the meaning of them beyond face-value expressions. I shamelessly claim elder millennial status as an excuse (which means I’m 18+, obviously).

I’m audhd (combo autistic/adhd), but I didn’t find that out until earlier this year, so I’m still very used to tiptoeing around people and holding myself back out of self-preservation. Working on that though, bc I’m tired of that shit.

Erm, also… fuck is my favorite word. If you don’t like foul language, I might not be a great fit for you.

I joined Tumblr about a month ago, so I am still learning and ask for your patience. (I will probably be learning for quite some time, tbh) If I’m doing something wrong, please let me know so I can fix it.

As is fairly common from what I’ve seen in this community, I’ve daydreamed whump for as long as I can remember, and it’s nice to:

3.) What fandoms do you write for? Way too many!!!

5.) Do you respond to comments? Only on tumblr!

6.) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably Something Wrong (BNHA) but also Wrapped In Silken Dreams (Black Butler) was pretty dark with the ending

7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Uhhhh I tend towards fluff but maybe Kitchen Friends has the biggest hurt-to-comfort arc?

8.) Do you get hate on fics? Not on my fics! I'll get hate comments on my agere art sometimes, and on my Hazbin Hotel content occasionally, but that's it. Never on AO3, I don't think.

9.) Do you write smut? Not on this blog!

10.) Craziest crossover? The first fic I ever published on my main AO3 account was a Supernatural/Sherlock/RPF crossover: I was forced to make an AO3 account to post it because ff.net didn't allow actor fics. It's still up on my account, but I can't say I recommend it lol

11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen? At least once, yes!

12.) Have you ever had a fic translated? Hmmmmm I think my Sanders Sides content was translated into Russian at one point, but none of my agere content.

13.) Have you co-written a fic before? Only once, and it was on ff.net, and it was with my grade nine girlfriend.

14.) All-time favorite ship? Destiel, Valduggery, and Lawlight are my top 3 OTPs, in that order.

15.) What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? My reader and Hannibal fic!!!!! I want to finish it SO BAD but it never works when I try and work on it!!

16.) What are your writing strengths? Character development, combining dialogue and action to make a full picture of a scene, keeping dialogue mostly in-character.

17.) What are your writing weaknesses? Consistency, sentence variety, typically boring introductions and ending to my stories.

18.) Thoughts on dialogue in another language? Not really sure what this one is asking: I feel nervous writing in other languages because I'm only semi-bilingual in French, so anything else would be a google translate mess: I typically just italicize the dialogue and "translate" it into English.

19.) First fandom you wrote in? Skulduggery Pleasant: my first fic was a death/whump fic based on My Immortal by Evanescence and I wrote it on my ipod touch while I was backstage at a dance contest that I'd already performed my part in, in 2009, at the tender age of 11.

20.) Favorite fic you've written? Oh! Um, probably Heading Home Again. It's not an agere fic but it's T-rated and it's a fanfiction about fusion in the Marvel universe. It holds up when I reread it! My favourite agere fic I've written might be Something Wrong, to be honest.

A random headcanon: UHHHHHHHHHH OH MY GOD . I KNOW i have headcanons abou t this bitch he swarms around in my mind all the time. I am imagining Random Exploits of the DGS Cast on a daily basis where did the fucking Concepts and Ideas go. ill return to this once ive done everything else and see if i havent thought of anything fun by then. ive thought about it some more and my most recent thought on him has been like. she knows some russian and japanese right? actually a fucking lot of russian to be able to read entire newspaper articles but thats besides the point i just think that sherlock knowing several different languages is neat but, Like. its pure chance if she ever manages to learn enough to be able to …. use it. once every several months sherlock will get really really excited about a new foreign language and put in like 2 weeks of work before forgetting about it completely. he has the vocabulary of a very young toddler in half a dozen different languages and is remembering those vocabularies by sheer luck

Gender Headcanon: You know what’s funny is expressing disdain for women is an effective way to distance yourself from femininity in general, for instance, to assert masculinity as a trans man, or as a negative reaction to being a trans woman. So. Like.

General Opinion over said character: Sherlock Holmes is the ultimate Little Freak. Like 80% of the joy of any sherlock holmes media is “Watch this Freak Behave Oddly”. Some people think he would be hard to get along with personally i think we would make very good friends and i would love to hang out with the Freak.

It was a rainy day, and you were late... It was pretty dark outside and you haven`t come home yet. Just before he exploded you came bursting from the door wet as a sock. CUPC- You ran passed him and tapped his shoulder. what.

Tapping his shoulder was a sign you wanted to talk somewhere private. So he just waited in his room. He was worried as fuck. Were they ok? Did they get hurt? Do they have a cold??

You knocked on his door and he instantly replied. CUPCA- shhh be quiet! soldier I have something important to say. You were both on his bed you were holding a blanket close to your chest.

Ok. Soldier, do you dare freak out ok? um ok. *shows an injured puppy* !!! You then explained how you found it in the pouring rain injured. You then asked the question, Can we please keep it? He started crying a little OF COURSE S/O! YOUR HEROIC ACT TO SAVE THIS POOR THING! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU CUPCAKE! :) yey

Pyro (I made this one the other way around) It`s so long fuck

Pyro was walking around an abandoned building. Pyro was finding something cool to show to s/o! Like a cool-shaped rock, a four-leaf clover, a flower...But instead pyro found something much more...cuter and fluffier...a tiny kitty cat. It was much smaller than any cat pyro has seen...and it was INJURED!????

Pyro then ran back to the base to look for s/o for help. MMMMMPHHHHH!!!!!!! What is it pyro is there something wrong?*pyro shows injury tiny kittiy* *GASP*

MEDIC! *goes to medic* *sign*S/o I am a doctor not a fucking vet. Do something right now! MMMPHH!! *point lighter at medic* okok chill!

*Medic treat it somehow and the kitty is ok* For the next few days both of you took care of it but on the last day when you were supposed to give it to the weird adoption center (there was only one and had had rumour and it. and most of them are TRUE). you guys made a decision to keep it.

I think we should keep it, the kitty has a much more better life here then in the adoption centre! who knows if the next owner will be nice or maybe the kitty wont get one! Also there is bad rumour at the adoption center that they hurt the animals! SO lets keep it! Mmph! (agree) So from that day forward you cared the cat full of love and the kitty soon gowed into a giant fluff cat. :)

When Wilbur comes back to England, everything's changed and he can't seem to find his old friend. What's more, a chance encounter with someone through a mutual friend leads to more questions about what happened to his friend, where he is right now, and why does this person seem so familiar?

Two things hold permanence in Wilbur's mind: 1. Will he ever see his best friend again? 2. Will he be able to make up for the lost time between them?

"Will you walk me home?"

In the dead of night, they left the pub and Wilbur took George's hand. They laughed merrily dancing their way down the streets, never letting go of the other. Rosy cheeks and goofy smiles made them forget George's words said earlier that night, '*I can't be alone with all that's on my mind.*'

When they reached his apartment door, their hands were still intertwined even when Wilbur needed to (but didn't want to) leave. Thoughts of leaving George after tonight's talk made his heart drop and he willed for George to speak, to say to him—

"—Will you stay with me tonight?"

"Are you reading my mind?"

"No, but I can see it in your face and in your eyes!" George laughed. It was...a happy and sad kind of laugh and George even went to rub the tears out of his eyes before inviting Wilbur inside. "Please, do come in. I'm... My thoughts are tired and there's so much wrong going on outside that I... Please, stay with me."

Wilbur smiled and trapped George in a hug, hesitating but eventually kissing the top of his head too. "Of course, George. I'll stay with you for as long as you need."

rant #2: internet watering down alt subcultures

(before or in case some ppl jump me in the replies i just want to clarify that ik this acc revolves around anime content but i’ve been into the goth subculture for a few yrs now and i don’t want ppl to think i’m a poser talking out of my ass just bc i don’t post or repost any goth topics/have a gothic style for my blog )

but um

why do ppl call anything remotely alternative ‘goth’ or ‘emo’…..

im sry but the ‘“i need a goth mommy’ or ‘i love goth girls’ mfs are actually unbearable like no u don’t even know what goth is, you just want a hypersexual e-girl with black hair and bangs with heavy eyeliner (same goes for the ‘i need a metalhead bf’ mfs who just want a tall guy w pretty long hair who plays the electric guitar)

those same ppl have started saying shit like ‘noooo i actually want a trad goth 🥺…um! well..no trad goth wants u..😁😁😁😅

like pls u didn’t know what a trad goth was until goth ppl started joking abt this sort of situation and using them as an examples for ‘goth girls’ that aren’t onlyfans models wearing skimpy black clothes and using goth as a buzzword for engagement, u just want to look good😭

also h8 the people that call themselves goth or emo and get defensive when u tell them they’re not bc they don’t even listen to the music or know about the culture of those scenes

anywho this rant is mostly abt the watering down of the goth subculture and not vkei so don’t let me get carried away, i’ll probably rant abt this sometime next yr since i literally do not post at all😭😭

hi~ it’s ya boi, Fausto.

um. so i was going to say i’m back on tumblr but my queue was spitting out posts the whole time so yeah. anyway. long excuse under teh cut. also trigger warning for me talking about my eating disorder (heavily self censored but mentioned none the less).

tl;dr version: Fausto is having a series of bad days. death to israel.

do y’all remember when i told the story of this customer who yelled at me but she started the conversation with the “I am a sweet, confused old lady” voice and then hall of the mountain king style slid into screaming at me? and how i had a mental breakdown over it? well similar thing happened. this lady shows up and she keep giving me the “i am a toddler about to cry because you’re not giving me what i want” face and like barely using her words to tell me what the fuck she wants to buy. and um, i’ve never had an adult give me the “i am a toddler about to cry” face before. in any situation ever. so that threw me off my game. anyway, i don’t really remember what happened next exactly but she managed to drop half of her stuff because she couldn’t convince her husband to either unlock the car or give her the one dollar she was short for the bill in time. and this guy didn’t seem angry coming up to me with the dollar until he gave me the dollar, then he screamed at me. and so like, there was no indication of aggression until our hands were just about touching and he was a big fuckin guy! so that freaked me the fuck out and i just kind of took two steps back and dropped my jaw on the floor in terror. then he said something rude. and they left. and i spent days replaying this in my head.

and then october 7th happened, and i very specifically logged on to tumblr with teh intention of reblogging a post about how stupid and wrong the official american narrative is about israel and a list of things israel has done since it’s inception that are way worse than anything Hamas does to fight back. instead i was greeted with this bizarre neutral post about palestine and it’s occupied territory and then i saw it again and i had this moment of thinking “oh my god, all the anti-zionism i’ve seen from political bloggers was performative” so i logged off tumblr.

and then a few days later i thought to myself “i’ll just avoid unfollowing political blogs for now and stuff my queue with stupid memes from tags and the trending page!” and i found a post on a particular topic and i’ve been spending the last ~2 weeks fighting my eating disorder. plus for some reason people in real life keep saying various kinds of shit that’s been making the eating disorder thing worse.

and to make things worse now that i’ve finally worked up the gumption to unfollow the blogs that put the weirdly zionism tolerant post on my dash tumblr kept crashing and when it stopped crashing the one person i thought i remembered reblogging the post it wasn’t in their archive and i tried searching for the damned post which you know goes poorly because this is tumblr. and i’m searching like, every political blogger’s archives for the post and i can’t find it. and like i keep trying to unearth from my brain what exactly the post said to actually search for it and i can’t remember so now i’m having another albeit less severe mental breakdown over having a mental breakdown over a tumblr post that probably doesn't exist.

um. so my queue is empty now i guess but um i’m not super emotionally invested in being on tumblr for the time being so if you’re wondering where i went yeah and if any other world events happen then just assume that i’ve got the same opinion as i had before.

His last birthday had been a barbeque in his backyard, and while he could appreciate people celebrating their birthdays, but since he had made his appearance, Surge had been trying

And then he saw her.

Between meeting Nichelle at the bike rack and then doing the photoshoot with her, Surge had to admit that he had thought about the woman more than he had expected to. And while part of him had thought about asking her out after the photoshoot he really had no idea if she was single or not - not to mention the idea of asking someone out at a work thing just didn’t seem like the right time. And then there she was right in front of him in what was probably the sexiest black dress he had ever seen.

It was enough to get him distracted enough that he completely missed that he was walking past the server entrance, and that a waiter was walking through the door, and managed to walk right into him - an entire plate of appetizers clattering loudly on the floor in the process. Surge could feel the eyes on him - the exact thing he had been trying to avoid - before swearing under his breath and trying to help clean it up. Only to realize that she was walking towards them.

Shit.

“Um, hey,” Surge awkwardly said, “I didn’t realize that you knew Cisco.”

Parks were not one of Surge’s favorite places in the world - but Pilar loved them, which meant that they went even if he hated every single second. But the nosy moms were horrible, the screaming kids were worse, and Surge knew that he was entirely too introverted to handle the amount of people that he’d inevitably have to talk to while he was there. But watching Pilar get excited about playing with other kids, or hear her happy chattering in a mixture of English and Spanish, it made it mostly worth it.

Until the mom that he had come to know as “Park Karen” saw him. Once again asking why Pilar’s mom was so negligent and made him come every time, insisting that she should come to her Mommy & Me classes, and that clearly Pilar needed to be socialized better so they should be considering her playgroup. And it wasn’t until Surge shouted, “How many times have I told you her Mom is dead?,” that she finally left him alone. Even though he couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the glares he got from the rest of the parents for bringing it up. Like they all hadn’t pestered him in the same way. Though out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that there was someone else looking at him.

“Bench is open,” he said, figuring they were looking for a spot, “Just don’t ask me to join any stupid Mommy & Me classes.”

Emma absolutely could not wait to see Juniper and Atlas. She was so happy for her friend that they had a perfect baby boy, and Emma was going to make sure Juni was taken care of, too. She went to Starbucks on the way over to Juni and Chris’ place and got four different drinks for the new mom just because she didn’t know what they liked. It was just easier to get a few drinks and then Emma would have something that was leftover.

She pulled up to the gate and told the security guard her name and that she was expected. Emma thought it must have looked so funny that her cheap little car was parked next to a vehicle that cost more than she made in a year. Maybe two. When she got to the door, she knocked. Yes, it was good for babies to hear noise so they could sleep through it later, but she still wanted to be quiet. Emma put on a big smile and greeted Juni when they opened the door “Hi! You look amazing. And I have coffee. There is an iced almond milk vanilla latte, an iced oat milk caramel macchiato, a hot flat white, and a hot chocolate. I wasn’t sure about what you liked, so you have options,” she smiled. “I want to make sure you’re taken care of, too.”

The morning after Juniper announced they were pregnant, Emma spent a while cracking open coconuts and draining the water from them into a jug. She knew from experience that coconut water was very hydrating and would be great for Juni. Emma was apprehensive about telling Juni that part of her past, but she also thought that if she could help the other get through the trying first trimester, it would be worth telling them. She just hoped Juni would keep her secret.

She waited until Juni was out of the bungalow before walking over to them with the jug. “I got some coconut water for you. It’s really not cold, but it should still be nice to drink. And, it um... It should help with the dehydration and morning sickness,” she said with a small grin.

Emma was having a wonderful time at the wedding. She even cried when Antony and Sebastián exchanged vows, though she hardly knew the two men. Weddings just made her emotional, and the two men were so clearly in love. It was all she wished for. She tried so hard before, but she was glad she left. Happier. Much happier.

The music they were playing was great, and she was dancing the night away long after she ditched her nice shoes for flip flops. She did stop during a slow song to grab some punch. On the way back to the dance floor, she passed Emmie “I haven’t seen you out there much... or at all. That outfit is far too lovely to not show it off. I simply won’t let you be a wallflower the whole time. You have to come dance with me. Please?”

The moment Emma knew something was wrong, she got ready to head out for Emmie’s place. She was going to make a beeline for the store first to get her girlfriend’s favorite snacks and drinks, but when she read that the lunch with Emmie’s mom was a disaster, she got twice as many snacks. She knew her girlfriend well enough to know she would need the comfort, both with cuddles and food.

Once her front seat was full of food, she headed to Emmie’s. It was one of the many instances she was glad to have a key. Emma put the pints of ice cream in the freezer before heading up to her girlfriend’s room with the armfuls of bags. “Hi,” she said and put the bags on the table next to the bed, then she shut the door. “I brought you everything you love so you can pick what you need.” After taking off her shoes, Emma climbed into the bed and wrapped her arms around Emmie. “Do you want to talk about it first? Or do you just want to cuddle for a bit?”

"Okay MC, I know we just finished 'Swimming Only Leads to Hot Mermaids,' but I was thinking since we are already watching otomes, we should watch another series that everyone is recommending online!" Levi says this as he begins to pull out one DVD and place in another while bouncing on the balls of his feet like an excited puppy.

"I guess I could watch one more series, but it better be a good one. Sure the mermaids were attractive, but there wasn't much of a plot." MC says with a yawn. A quick look over to the clock, and it reads 11:48 PM in a blinding blue light. Not too late for one of Levi's normal bingefests, but a little too late for MC when they have classes tomorrow.

"No, I promise this one is good. Everyone is talking about the art style. They say it is so original that it's captivating." Levi walks to the small futon briskly and plops himself down next to MC as he continues to ramble about the art. His voice slowly trails off as the opening begins to play.

As the music fills MC's ears, they perk up and a small smile appears on their face. "Levi, could this perhaps be, 'I Went to Hell For a Weekend and Got Stuck in a Love Heptagon with Seven Incubi'?"

Levi faces MC in shock. The look on their face is quite smug. (In all seriousness, it reminds Levi of Mammon when he wins poker, but he doesn't want to be think about his brother while looking at MC. So he pushes that thought away.) This anime came out only the day before their bingefest. And even then, Levi had this copy pre-ordered for this very occasion and it arrived before any stores were selling physical copies. There is no way a normie like MC could have heard about its release. Does this mean MC isn't such a normie after all?

"You heard of this show already?" The surprise in his voice was impossible to hide.

"Yeah, I have heard of it." MC smiles and chuckles quietly, "I have never actually seen it, but I have heard the opening quite a few times."

"Oh..." Levi sighs. He was so stupid. Of course MC had heard the opening. It is all over his Devilgram and they were on their phone for part of the last show, so they obviously just heard it on there. Levi deflates looking solemn. It was just a pipe dream that MC would ever be interested in his yucky otaku interests.

"Hey! There is no reason to be all sad just because I know the name of the show. I still haven't seen the whole thing. My first time watching will still be with you Levi, isn't that special enough?" The smile on MC's face seemed sincere enough, but the words that came out of their mouth made blood rush up to Levi's cheeks. Their first... did they really mean to say it like that?...

As thoughts begin to flood Leviathan's head the show began. It was true the art style was captivating. So captivating in fact, that he forgot about his embarrassment. But MC's words still lingered in his mind as he watched the show.

"Well, I am dead tired." MC stands cracking their aching joints as they look at the clock. 2:37 AM. It was that late already? "I think I need to head to bed Levi. I have classes in the morning and I need at least a few hours of sleep."

"Are you sure?" Levi was just starting to enjoy MC's presence. At the beginning of the night, he was on edge trying to make everything perfect. Levi did want to mess up by being a yucky Otaku and give them a reason to leave him all alone. But as the night progressed, (and more snacks were consumed) he felt increasingly more comfortable with sharing his favorite shows with MC. "I have other shows we could watch to pass the time, or we could play this new game I got-"

MC walks over to Levi and gently sets their hands on his shoulders, "Games and anime are great, but what I need right now is sleep." MC watched as Levi's face filled with a blush and his eyes flashed with hurt. "I am not leaving because I am mad... or sad... or anything really. I just need to sleep, Leviathan." Their voice was barely above a whisper as they said his name. How could he disagree with them when they said his name like that; all the while, looking deep into his eyes. He felt like he could explode.

As MC turns away, the demon in question then sighs mutters a quiet "okay" under his breath. "Don't worry, Levi. This isn't the last time I will watch anime with you. I promise we can do another one of these when another new anime comes out." MC begins to pick up their things. A blanket they brought with them to keep warm in Levi's cold room and the rest of their human snacks. "Besides, I really liked that one, and I have heard they are already making season two." As they speak, MC makes their way across the room to the gigantic tank.

"Wait. How do you-"

"Good night Henry. Good night Levi." And with that, MC leaves. Closing the door behind them.

How did MC know about a second season? Even he, the Great Otaku Levi, has not heard about a season two on any forums or on any other website... After thinking about it, Levi suspects it's probably on Devilgram like the opening was. To prove his theory, he pulls out his D.D.D. and opens up Devilgram to the 'I Went to Hell For a Weekend and Got Stuck in a Love Heptagon with Seven Incubi' page. He scrolls through their posts and finds the opening, like he predicted, but what he didn't predict was their most recent post.

"This show would not have been possible without MC. Thank you for making such a great story and great art to go along with it!"

Levi reads the caption once, twice, thrice and is speechless. The photo for this post is none other than his MC standing with a hand drawn piece of the protagonist. He can even see their signature in the corner when he zooms in! He knew that they liked to draw, but he never thought they would make an anime.

Without thinking, Levi gets up and begins to run to MC's room. He needs to know that this isn't some sort of elaborate prank that MC and Satan brewed up to make him like a normie more.

The door to MC's room busts open, "MC!" The room is completely dark except for the light shining in through the doorway.

"Levi...? Is that you? Is something wrong?" MC's voice is soft and laced with sleep. If this were any other time, Levi would have screamed over their cuteness, but today he had a mission. He immediately marches up to the half asleep MC and promptly shoves his phone in their face.

"Did you make 'I Went to Hell For a Weekend and Got Stuck in a Love Heptagon with Seven Incubi'?" MC sits up and squints as their eyes adjust to the blinding screen and look at the post.

"Um... yeah. That's me isn't it?" Silence takes over the room, before Levi begins to scream.

"WAHHHHH! MC, why didn't you tell me!" Thankfully with the phone only being pointed at MC, they can't see the blush spreading across his face.

"Well, I didn't want you to treat me differently because I make anime." Laying back down as they speak, MC tucks a pillow under their head and looks up to where they guess Leviathan's face is. "Besides, I thought it was really cute how you were fanboying, and I didn't want you to stop because you knew you were in the presence of the creator." A small smile makes it's way on to MC's face as Levi feels his own get hotter.

Now covering his face, Levi quickly makes his way to the door while muttering, "You can't just say things like that..." As he begins to close the door, he pauses and opens it up again while looking back, "Can you tell me more about your show tomorrow, MC?" His voice sounds small compared to his previous scream.

"Of course Levi. We can talk for as long as you like."

I apologize if this seems out of the blue, tonedeaf or if you’ve made your stances clear already.

It is pretty out of the blue! Am I being interviewed for something! And to be honest, my personal orv tag is really small and I think I’ve made myself pretty clear. But you know, I love talking so I’ll take this opportunity with pleasure.

How I feel is: um. Happy they’re being criticized? I mean, Sing Shong are adults writing a very popular book with tons of exposure for lots of money now, and if people notice homophobic, transphobic, or really any kind of prejudicial content in their work, then the reader base has the right to bring that up and ask them to confront it. I think people should call these kinds of things to their attention all the time. So, ah, those are my feelings. I think it’s important to acknowledge these failings and inform others seeking to engage with this book about those failings, so that they can then engage with ORV forewarned and forearmed.

Of course, I think there are some interesting things to consider about ORV re: LGBT “representation”, such that it is.

1. Gaybaiting/Homophobia/Biphobia

I don’t think gaybaiting is what’s happening in this novel. Or rather, Sing Shong made a bunch of tacky jokes about “does dok/hyuk is gay”, then they stopped making those jokes, and the rest is fandom having fun with character relation ships AKA the essence of shipping. Sing Shong had no directed engagement with fans desiring gay ship content, and in my mind, without that deliberate marketing of the possibility of your fave gay ship getting together, we don’t really achieve the necessary level of focused teasing that “bait” would require. In addition, ORV isn’t a romance novel; there is no core straight relationship that before which any teasing of this gay relationship is doomed to fail. Either way, it’s undeniable that the theoretical gayness of their relationship was something the novel initially made jokes about, and it is also something that the authors actually addressed!

In a blog post, Sing Shong acknowledge the scenes in the novel that seem to tease at KDJ and YJH being in a relationship and admits that they were 1. Jokes and 2. Something they tried to eliminate from their writing once they realized this would be insulting to actual LGBT people, for which they apologize. They were also addressing people who would (as a form of criticism) call ORV a BL novel, telling them to not disparage BL as a genre AND also to reiterate the scenes that fans read as “proof” of dok/hyuk’s romance were not intended to be read this way. Growth? I think it’s good that they both understood the issue at hand and directly apologized for it. In their words, reading KDJ’s and YJH’s relationship as romantic is a popular and acknowledged interpretation in the fandom that they do not oppose but also did not intend. A pretty boilerplate “you can interpret it that way if you like” stance. In my opinion, I think Uriel is funny as shit and she can write as much RPF about dok/hyuk as she wants. My problematic taste in women.

2. Transphobia

This is the issue I think you wanted me to focus on, and disclaimer before I start: I’m not trans. I’m not really cis either, sure, but I’m not intimately aware of the politics and struggles of the trans community, especially not that of South Korea. I can’t be an authority on the relative correctness or wrongness of how trans characters, or other gender-nonconforming characters, are treated in this novel. This would then just be my personal feelings while reading.

So I think they messed up! I don’t think Sing Shong were actively malicious while writing any of the characters I’ll mention here, I just think there were choices made that, to me, feel kind of cruel.

A. The Pink Kids

This is my actual biggest problem with ORV’s LGBT rep, so to speak. I think the way these crossdressing men were almost all characterized as amoral and treacherous, the way Han Sooyoung mocks Lee Hyunsung for having “bad taste” and calls the Pink Kids “perverts”, and the way their disguises were removed (with the focus on revealing their hairy legs), were all extremely uncomfortable to read when you consider how trans women are often given the same treatment for just trying to live their daily lives, especially if they cannot “pass” at a level acceptable to society.

Now, in this scene, Sing Shong did have KDJ clarify that Kim Yongpal was innocent and that crossdressers (and by extension trans women, since we aren’t actually made aware of how Kim Yongpal personally identifies) aren’t all inherently evil. Just maybe, three out of the four we meet? It’s a bad scene overall, and I’m curious to know why it was considered okay to keep for ebook. Perhaps they felt it was clear they didn’t intend to smear an entire community of people by making Kim Yongpal a good person! That might really be enough! It’s just personally very discomforting to read.

B. Nirvana

Love Nirvana. Admittedly weird that the textually non-binary character is so unhinged, but to be honest, they felt more like a wacky fictionalization of Avalokiteshvara/Guanyin or like one of the gender swapping guile heroes of Indian mythology, so I must personally give them a ten out of ten for being so fun. My webnovel Shikandi. Still, Nirvana’s interest in YJH being used for that “I don’t like men!” gag was, yeah, not great.

C. Jang Hayoung

She is trans! Good night.

(KDJ is so rigid about thinking that even with the novel changing wildly around him that the characters he grew up are going to be exactly the same, Jang Hayoung included. The novel is also dedicated to proving him so, so wrong. I am satisfied. Also, he DOES start using the literary female pronoun with JHY as he does the other female characters after JHY’s first POV scene so I like to think he Learned Something through using Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint on her and just sat there looking like 🤡 for a bit and then getting with the agenda. The real question is why LGY’s going around calling her hyung. I’ll slap a 13 year old, I don’t give a shit.)

D. The Punisher

He’s my girlfriend.

3. Various LGBT criticisms

SangSoo isn’t canon and they didn’t kiss onscreen :(((

That was long! TL;DR I think you should totally confront authors with the elements of their story that are cruel without internal investigation of why that cruelty is necessary. I think it’s so sexy to be critical about even your most favorite pieces of media, because in the end, no matter how important a work is to you, there are real people out there who it might be hurting, and they matter more.

Summary: The Pink Hair Origin Story (alternatively also the Blue Hair Origin Story)

Author's Note: First day of Zoe Appreciation Week! Wanted to participate so have this not so little one shot to showcase our lovely pink haired witch <3

"Wow, the dye came out really nicely," Zoe murmurs as Douxie exits the bathroom, his hair freshly blown dry -- from its tips to the full bangs dipped in a deep yet striking blue. He smiles widely at the quiet compliment and waves over to Archie.

"How does it look Arch?" they ask, though the answer is pretty clear, if Archie's fond gaze is anything to go by. The familiar flies in to nuzzle his face.

"Dashing as ever, Douxie."

Zoe leans back into the couch with content, taking in the beautiful sight that is her best friend. She did really good. The faint buzz of adrenaline lingers on the pads of her fingers. Right, she forgot. That was her first time.

"Are. You. Crazy? I've never even dyed hair before!" the natural brown haired girl hissed. She begrudgingly wiped the bubblegum that had exploded over her lips -- a result from the initial shock when Douxie first made his request. Granted, she felt honored that they would come to her before anyone else, but still! She can't risk ruining his hair, she doesn't have experience, plus the hair salon could totally do it better and-

"I'd rather it be you than anyone else," the wizard confirmed firmly. Zoe turned to the familiar. Surely the cat who lived with this stubborn kid could knock some sense into them. Archie could only provide a shrug in response.

"They're pretty sure about this."

She groaned.

"Fine, fine! But give me a few days unless you want me to pick out the wrong dye and end up with neon green."

[ 1 Week Later ]

Zoe couldn't keep track of just how many hair channels and blogs she'd gone through. She mimicked their hand movements, using cheap wigs and mannequin heads to simulate the experience. Through it all, one voice echoed the same message: "You can't mess this up."

She bought all the necessary tools. Gloves, hair clips, bleach, foil, just to name a few. Oh, and of course the dye -- though you'll be surprised how one can forget the simplest things while getting caught up in trying to memorize everything. Blue, Douxie had asked for. But what kind of blue? Sky blue? Cobalt? Midnight? Which one? She pinched the bridge of her nose before angrily texting the wizard. It went a little something like this:

DOUX: go with whatever you think will look good! i'm fine with anything tbh :]

ZOE: i Hate you so much

DOUX: ??? WHY

ZOE: IDK SHIT ABOUT HAIR DYE HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT LOOKS GOOD

DOUX: let's talk about this in person before you electrocute your phone again

ZOE: you won't let me live that down will you

DOUX: you know me so well ;)

She shoved the phone back in her pocket. There's no way she was actually doing this for him.

She was.

"Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?" she asked for what would be around the 73rd time. Douxie pulled his face down with both hands.

"Ugh, the answer is still yes, love. I'm not asking you to dye the whole thing, just the front part, bangs and sides."

She rolls her eyes at the nickname and smacks the clean brush against his head. She smiles at the little 'ow' that Douxie lets out with a pout. Hm, cute.

"Alright, but don't start moping around if it doesn't come out the way you wanted it!"

"Nothing that a little magic can't fix if it gets to that point. Which I hardly believe it will."

And now here they are.

Douxie crashes on the couch with Zoe, slinging an arm over her shoulders. She raises an eyebrow at the sudden physical touch, but it's never unwelcome. Not when it comes to him.

"You know of all human creations, I gotta say, this one really takes the cake," they start and Zoe snorts.

"You say that about nearly everything."

"Can you blame me?"

She looks at them and no, she really can't. In fact, she finds herself agreeing with him. He looks... really nice. A faint blush spreads over her face; not that it is noticeable by any means -- the two of them happen to have done this dying process starting from the evening to night, so the dim lights in her home do little to highlight her features. This is still her Douxie, lovable guitarist and wizard nerd who cares about everyone. Yet there was something about the hair dye that changed things up a bit. Something good, naturally.

The two of them fall into a comfortable silence, doing whatever is usually available. Sometimes it's texting, scrolling through social media, or listening to music. Other times it's zoning off and reminiscing about the past.

Zoe decides to go for her phone, unconscious of the way her hand finds its way into Douxie's hair, carding through the locks and untangling them with nimble fingers. It's peaceful. Maybe even a little too peaceful, considering the two of them are adrenaline junkies.

"Douxie, I can hear you thinking..." she begins. It's a common way to start the conversation between them, and oftentimes she's right.

He turns around, her hand still in his hair, but enough to meet her eyes. Their own eyes look serious and her heart sinks. Were they not happy with their hair?

The answer is quite the opposite.

"You ever considered dying your hair too? Maybe we can match."

The untangling stops.

And then the tugging starts.

"Ow ow ow-"

"Hisirdoux Casperan you are a menace to society."

She does though. She considers it for weeks. Of course, Douxie doesn't push; it's her hair at the end of the day, she can do whatever she likes. But after seeing how well she did with the wizard, she kinda felt excited. She definitely can't forget the exhilaration she felt when she saw people compliment Douxie at Benoit's or at the GDT book store. Her heart started beating faster when he looked back at her with a proud smile on his face-- damn that wizard, they told the others that she did it for them, didn't they?

After a few days, a young girl in a cap comes up to her at the record store. Probably from Arcadia High, if her backpack stacked with books is any indication.

"Hi! I'm Claire. Claire Nuñez," the girl starts. Zoe raises an eyebrow in interest.

"Hey Claire. What can I get you?" she asks, raising a flask to her lips. There's no water. Damn.

"Um, it's not really a standard request, but um, I was wondering if you could dye my hair?"

Zoe chokes on her water. Dye her what?

"Kid, are you new here? This is a records store. I can give you the direction to the hair salon it's really not that far."

"No, no, no! It's just, this guy got their hair dyed and I asked if he did it himself and they said you did it for them so I came to you. It's nothing too big! Just a strand really," Claire rambles. She gestures to the invisible front of her hair, currently tucked away behind the cap, outlining it with her fingers. The hedge witch groans.

"That would be Douxie. Now, here's the thing I don't do this for just anyone. Douxie happens to be a close friend so what I did was a little gift for him. I don't even know you, so what do I get out of this?"

Claire pales.

"Uh, $20? I know a full head of hair costs way more but like I said, just a strand..."

Zoe's stomach rumbles in response. She had $5 currently in her wallet which could buy a snack at most. She pinches the bridge of her nose.

"Ugh, you're lucky I'm hungry. Catch me after my shift is done okay? And I only got one color on me, which is blue, you good with that? Otherwise bring your own."

"Yes of course, of course! Thank you so much."

"Yeah, yeah, now scram if you're not here to buy anything."

"Oh actually, I was wondering if you had anything Papa Skull released recently!"

Curse this girl and her good taste in music.

[ 45 minutes later; 2:00 PM ]

"Thank you for doing this by the way," Claire starts. Zoe waves it off. She doesn't really know why she agreed to this. Well kind of. She wanted to eat. But besides that, she also was curious to see if she could satisfy another "customer". Hair dying was never a profession she had properly considered and right now? It doesn't hurt to entertain a thought.

"Alright so I have the bleach, you'll need to let that set in and keep that before dying the strand you want. We can even add toner to neutralize the color post bleaching if necessary," she lists off. Claire shakes her head.

"That won't be necessary!"

The girl pulls off her cap and surely enough, there's a light blonde lock, similar to Douxie's, just a little lighter. Zoe's impressed.

"Well that definitely makes my job easier. Especially since this is my second time."

"Wait, second time?"

"You didn't know?"

"No?"

"Of course Douxie leaves that part out. You want out? I'll pay you back the $20 in four days."

"No, I trust you."

Zoe always believed that she had tough and cold demeanor. Clearly she's doing something wrong if people are finding her trustworthy just by looking at one dye job.

"Alright then, here we go! Don't say I didn't warn you," the witch replies. She wraps the cloth around Claire softly, and pulls up the bowl with the dye in it. With a gloved hand she separates the pale strands from the brown ones. The blue will definitely be more prominent here than it would be with Douxie's. Something tells her that Claire wouldn't mind.

From the looks of Claire's surprise, wonder, and delight, she definitely didn't mind.

"It. Looks. So cool! You're really good at this. Maybe you should start a hair dying salon or something," the girl rattles off. Zoe raises a hand.

"I'm already working two part time jobs so... no. But I'm glad you liked it. The blue looks really good. Stands out well."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you," Claire repeats, putting back her cap on. A feeling of confusion overcomes Zoe.

"Wait, why are you putting your cap back on? Don't you want to show people?"

"Duh, but um, my mom doesn't know about, uh, all this. You know, councilwoman things."

Zoe's mouth drops, the $20 bill crumpled in her hand. So that's why she didn't go to the hair salon. Nuñez is the councilwoman, so she'd know pretty much everyone in the town. And word spreads pretty fast. In summary: Claire would have gotten caught.

"See ya!"

These kids are going to land her in some serious trouble one day.

With a burger and soda in her tray, Zoe takes a seat and pulls out her phone. That Claire girl though, she's sort of inspiring. Adventurous. Not hesitant in taking chances. And you know Zoe, she absolutely loves the thrills of life. Whether it be hunting magical creatures or refining her usually unpredictable magic. The humans tend to have mellow definition of risk taking, in her opinion, but their examples are fun enough in their own way: crossing the speed limit, riding rollercoasters, anything along those lines. The brunette clicks on a familiar contact and begins typing.

ZOE: which color looks good on me

ZOE: don't ask it's for a stupid job thing

DOUX: which job?

ZOE: WHAT PART OF DON'T ASK

ZOE: hex tech, something for employee uniforms

DOUX: i was going to say pink since it brings out your eyes but if it's for uniforms i dunno, light blue?

ZOE: hm interesting

DOUX: you should just work here at the book store it's chill

ZOE: but then i'd have to deal with you

DOUX: now is that really a bad thing?

DOUX: zoe.

Light blue is definitely a no go, Zoe decides. Too much blue dye going around. But pink, hm she could work with that. It's a pretty bold color and it would compliment her eyes as well as her face in general. A win-win for her.

And as for how far she's willing to go? She decides to go all in. No tips, no ombre, just complete bubblegum hair. Of course this takes a few days to gather the guts.

'You can do it Zoe, just go for the bleach,' she thinks to herself. Her hands shake with nervousness and excitement. Frankly, hunting niffins didn't compare to the rush she's feeling right now. She closes her eyes and brings the brush to her hair.

Well, here goes nothing.

She winces as she feels the tingling sensation, but loads of videos have assured that such symptoms were normal. She continues to work at it, using the foil to make sure she doesn't bleach a part of her hair to death. It's long and strenuous, but she knows the results in the few coming weeks would be worth it.

She doesn't have to worry about Douxie finding out thankfully. Turns out these weeks are essential for Merlin's "To-Do" List. Apparently it was to find Camelot?

"The castle he means. Not the actual kingdom. That's been gone for centuries. Anyways, I'll be back once I actually find it. Dunno how I'll do it and it probably will take me and Arch a month or so, haha. Oh! And if my hirers ask you anything, it's a family emergency."

Hm, whatever. A brief thought of Merlin dying his hair neon green amuses her, before she goes back to watching more hair dye videos. They've become a little addicting nowadays. She's amazed at how often people do it. How do they keep their hair so healthy?

It's been four weeks now and Zoe's eyes stare at the pink concoction in her hand. PANTONE 2046 C. This was the shade that stole her heart in the middle of the hair dye aisle. No other color could compare in the slightest. Even the cashier who packaged her order hummed in approval.

"Nice color! Not many go for it, but it'll suit you for sure."

This time her movements are calculated, not clumsy or fear driven like it used to be. One could even say she's getting the hang of this. Her hair over time changes from platinum blonde to a dark matted pink. She lets it sit for a bit, meanwhile focusing on getting the dye out of her hands. This turns out to be harder than she thought and she sighs. Well, maybe another day.

After washing and blow drying her hair, she stands in front of the mirror. The witch staring back at her is almost unrecognizable. As if she were a new person completely. And she liked it.

The blank stare shifts into a grin and she tugs at her own locks. Goddamn. She looks really good.

And well, Douxie's reaction is priceless to say the least.

DOUX: you said to meet up at the museum where are you

DOUX: i swear if you slept in i'll send archie to knock down everything in your apartment

DOUX: ok no i won't but still it's been a month since we last saw each other come on

DOUX: wait a second

DOUX: you're joking

DOUX: IS THAT??? YOU????

DOUX: IN THE PINK

DOUX: oh fuzzbuckets you look stunning

DOUX: Hello this is Archie. You broke Douxie so could you please finish your conversation with whoever it is you're with and come pick him up? Your hair is absolutely lovely by the way.

ZOE: omfg

ZOE: can't take you guys anywhere

The witch smiles at the girls and nods over to a gaping Douxie and his cat before gracefully exiting the conversation. She approaches her friend and pushes his jaw up with her index finger.

"So I'm assuming you're digging the new look hm?" she teases.

"You have no idea," Douxie responds. A pink tint lighter than the shade of her hair blooms across Zoe's face at the expression of adoration in her best friend's eyes. The two of them have been through a lot together, seeing each other grow and change. And this time, it was a really fun and welcome one.

"I might try this again with a different color some time. You wanna join then?"

"Don't have to ask me twice."

It's crazy how all of this came from a chaotic, impulsive research project to help a friend. But honestly Zoe wouldn't have it any other way.

Maybe Douxie was right. Of all human creations, this one beats pretty much everything else.
