Hey have a fun AU I came up with the other day after reading a bunch of fics with related tropes

It's a raised Sith AU. Anakin was found by Sidious well before he was found by Qui-Gon. He was raised by the Sith, is a classically horrible monster stalking about TCW to be Vader (mask and all, just as an intimidation factor instead of life support) while Ventress and Grievous and Dooku do their own things in a different section of the war. He's got a Really Fucking Weird dynamic with Obi-Wan, mostly attempting to kill him etc.

At some point, Palpatine allows Anakin and Padme to meet. The romance that blooms is one that Sheev decides is useful to him, so he lets it happen.*

Padme gets pregnant. Sidious arranges for her death. Anakin loses his entire shit and tries to kill Sidious. Obi-Wan is off trying to save Padme, unaware of Anakin getting his remaining limbs cut off by his this-universe Master. (This is important, because Anakin does remember Obi-Wan trying to save Padme.)

So we have Anakin, who was raised Sith, and just lost the only things that have mattered to him since his mom died when he was a kid, and Palpatine has pushed him further into the Dark than he ever has. Anakin… knows more about the Sith Secrets in this universe.

Anakin finds a Sithly Time Machine. Maybe on Malachor. There's an owl? Whatever.

Anakin, someone who's been Vader for the vast majority of his life, wakes up at age nine. Maybe even younger, like six. His mother is already dead at Sidious's hands. He's already roommates with Maul. He's already being trained as a baby Sith.

Anakin, being a 20 year old war veteran, is much better at escaping than Sidious has planned for. He reprograms a medical droid to take out his slave chip, steals a ship, etc. All the stuff that Maul wasn't very good at, and Anakin was too young for, so Sidious didn't have the preventative measures in place for yet.

Anakin heads for the one place and person he thinks he can trust: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

(Obi-Wan is still a padawan. But this Baby Sith just declared him Adoptive Teen Dad, so.)

And if hes dragging Maul around no doubt the dude is constantly himself confused why he is here Like yeah, Sidious sucked, and this 6-9yo is way powerful and knowledgeable on the dark side (?????) But why are we going to the Jedi? And not even trying to kill them apparently?????

Anakin is very much being affected by Baby Brain and Baby Endocrine System. He cries a lot more than he should.

I WASN'T THINKING OF HIM BRINGING MAUL BUT YEAH. THAT'S. THAT'S A POSSIBILITY.

Jedi Council trying to decide if this is more "Adult Sith got shrunk" or "child got evil man's memories." Vader wants to know why it even MATTERS. (He didn't actually plan on telling them, but he has very little self control right now.)

The first Good Act he does is tell them where to find Ventress and Ky. (In the original timeline, he viewed Ventress as like. Cool older cousin.)

Vader's right, that distinction does not matter Aaaw, she deserves that, that's nice Maybe she will be like 20% less homocidally traumatized

Anakin is furious when Maul and Obi-Wan pick him up under one arm like a package. He is a GROWN MAN he is an ADULT he was a SITH LORD and about to be a FATHER, he is TOO OLD FOR THIS.

They point out that he is Baby.

😂 sorry lord of evil, you're too baby, have a nap and maybe your feel better. Assuming the crisis on Naboo is still happening, and as such the vote of no confidence is right now, it might be a great time to report Sidious as a Sith lord. Post-escape from Sidious, both he and Maul definitely will need a nap. It's that kinda place.

Oh, it's probably at least a year before. Anakin keeps trying to sneak off to kill the man himself, but the Jedi are more ready for his Sneaking than Mustafar was, so he keeps getting caught before he can reach the Senate.

At one point he tries to just CHARGE the place and you get Mace and Obi-Wan sprinting after him. The News captures videos of this very small child getting chased by an older Padawan and a Master and they are mostly yelling for him to PUT DOWN THE SABER.

(Sidious might see him but what's he going to do? Might cause too many problems for Sidious to be aware of Anakin's presence with the Jedi, though. Best not.)

It's probably more expensive on average to hire an assassin on a child, just in general But on a jedi youngling??? If he can even find someone to do that, it will be so very, ridiculously expensive And likely 70%+ upfront payments

Ahsoka definitely seeks him out. Toddler baby child. She adores him for reasons unclear to anyone and everyone.

!!! Baby has baby!! Vader's probably a little thrown by this. Been a while subjectively since someone just loved him. And not even for like, a reason. Baby Vader coerced into sitting obediently for nap by tired kiddo: [The council liked that]

The number of times that vader could only be convinced to nap by Obi-Wan grabbing him, caging him in his own lap, and forced to Sit Quietly until he just fell asleep like that...

He has things to do, he's not tired 😡😡😡💢 (He's 9. Distances are between 150 and 195% longer when measured with steps, he's hungry (subjectively) all the time, and has only middling coordination He so is too tired)

Anakin doesn't know Qui-Gon at all but he keeps getting stuffed into the man's top because he's just. Small enough to fit.

Like the bomb boobs gif, but it's a small child.

You just. You can't let him get too self-important.

Vader is Disgusted every time the pediatric healers try to talk down to him like they do to other 6yos.

The difference between this and other "Vader goes back in time to the Jedi" AUs (like Force of Many Sights) is that this Vader has never been a Jedi, and doesn't know anything about them except how they fight when he's trying to kill their friends.

Also Maul's there.

Because even he has a hard time taking himself seriously when hes so easy to manhandle Rest of the time; I am fear, I am death personified As luggage child: I am so small. The tiniest. I crave violence He's probably very annoyed they keep taking away his saber And hey! Obi gets practice not losing his! Woooo!

Something something Anakin clinging to Maul's back (piggy back ride) and chewing on his head or something stupid like that. Perfect height for head biting.

Maul probably has been nominally talked into this because this 9yo is a powerful darksider But he is also the world's most annoying tiny kid Maul would've thought his phenotype would make him immune to this ridiculousness He was wrong At least the teeth are a bit less pointy than his other little brothers'? Appreciating the little things

tfw your unwanted little brother drags you to what you think is a cult but actually they're way less culty than your last two places so you just stick around to keep an eye on the little shit

Anyway. ObiMaul for this one.

Yeah, that's about as much involvement as would be appreciated They probably did a lot of sparring before the tension broke Which did not relieve said tension, generally made it worse (Competence, athleticism, sweat-) Vader is confused, but probably doesn't mind He's probably glad they're distracting each other from stopping assassinating a certain someone (Which- that is 9yo hubris. He would need help to do that)

I still can't decide where on 6yo-9yo he falls but somewhere in there

Babies means easier hiding in shirt, teenie Ahsoka, and longer for him to convince the Jedi council to do a Sith hunt before the Naboo situation

* Vaguely inspired by the backstory of Rulebreaker/Wildheart, which is great but significantly more of a romance fic than this.

- Crosshair’s description of the CX program is TERRIFYING. He can barely make himself talk about it. He was close to becoming one of them?? How is he walking around with all that knowledge and Hemlock didn’t wipe his mind if it? None of this is good. My poor boy.

- Gosh Rex sounds so tired.

- Crosshair sounds TERRIFIED.

- How does CX run so fast?

- Interesting that they give the woozy perspective of the other CX as Crosshair comes into the room

- Okay let me reiterate for you all—Crosshair is absolutely terrified here. Similar to Tech, this man is almost unflappable. If he’s scared they all should be hightailing it immediately. What the hell has Hemlock done to these clones??

- Does the CX truly recognize Crosshair? And why would Hemlock still use the designation “brother” as part of their programming? All this mind control stuff is making the chips look like child’s play

- Okay but in all seriousness, what if most of the clones being put through the undercover program still have their chips installed and those somehow can be reactivated or enhanced again? Crosshair does not, therefore it’s much harder for Hemlock to persuade him

- That sniper shot was insane. As was that creepy laugh.

- Some of the dialogue in these episodes is feeling unnecessary. Omega pointing out where shots are coming from is a little obvious

- Fireball 😢😢😢 at least you lived up to your name

- And goodbye monastery

- Woooooolffeeee. Armor as amazing as always. What the heck has he been up to to get put on missions like this. We’re one step closer to getting the old man Seelos gang together.

This series and its sister-series are some of the best characterization and worldbuilding for Jedi I have ever had the pleasure of reading and it is a fix-it in all the messy, hard, terrible ways people don’t usually write fix-its.

Longish, sort of personal and spoilery post about my fic knows best (daddy kink fic) below!

So I posted a long overdue update to my daddy kink fic a couple days ago and the people commenting have been kind and funny and encouraging (I love this community so much) but it’s gotten me thinking about family dynamics and I want to defend (or at least muse about) my idiots (i.e. Obi-Wan and Anakin) a little bit. Even though they are a) imaginary and therefore not in need of my defence and b) acting completely ridiculous, by my design.

If I can speak personally for a second (sorry) and probably too revealingly: my family isn’t very close. There’s no particular bad blood or anything but my friends often insist that they must talk to their parents at least once a week or they regularly hang out with their siblings outside of family functions. Meanwhile my family will all cheerfully leave the country without informing the others and we’ll only find out when someone posts a picture or mentions a hereto unheard-of trip to Belize or something.

I remember when I was fifteen or so my dad invited another family over for dinner and at several points the teenage eldest son put his little sister on his lap and tickled her. I approached my dad after they left and basically asked him if we were just witness to some sort of sex crime. He got very huffy and said that what we saw was perfectly normal and that I shouldn’t judge other families for how they show affection. Which, fair, but also his family was the only one I’d ever really known—the values he’d instilled in me and the behaviour he’d modelled were my only baseline.

To be clear: I am not complaining about the comments I’ve been getting even a little bit. I’ve been loving them all and agreeing with them because it’s true, Obi-Wan and Anakin are doing an absolutely terrible job of pretending to be father and son. I know this! I wrote them like that on purpose because it’s (hopefully) funny and hot!

I guess I’m just feeling introspective because if I were in Obi-Wan and Anakin’s shoes (raised in an environment where I was exposed to no families), or indeed the shoes of any of the criminal bystanders, I’m not positive I could recognize the intricacies of the other family relationships. I could easily see myself as one of the teen criminals going to my mom after watching Obi-Wan hand-feed his adult (supposed) son like “hey what the fuck is wrong with those two?” and being told that it’s none of my business and that all families are different. In this instance my imaginary mother would be wrong because there is a lot wrong with those two but it makes me think, you know?

When did you start writing?

Fanfic? When I was a young teen (roughly age 13/14). I wrote Star Wars (Anakin/Padme) fanfics on FanFiction.net.

Writing in general? When I was around 5. I used to "write books" (that is: take construction paper, bind it, and create little stories with pictures when I was bored at home, alone). Only child syndrome; am I right, or am I right? Haha.

Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?

I enjoy reading angst, but I don't (typically) write it. I also read a lot of published nonfiction for fun, but I hated writing essays in school. I was more of a creative writing gal.

Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?

You know, I've never actually thought about this, probably because I like to write for myself. I think it would be odd to be compared to another writer, even a famous one. I also read oodles, so it's difficult for me to choose an author I'd want to emulate. I suppose if I were forced at gunpoint to choose, I'd say John Steinbeck. He had a way with words; he turned phrases beautifully and his books have really stuck with me over the years, especially East of Eden.

Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?

My office, which my husband recently renovated for me. It's Hogwarts: Legacy themed, naturally. My husband is the best; he loves to encourage my "Sebastian and Damien delulu," my words, but he would definitely agree and approve. XD

What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?

Hmm, good question. I don't know if I have one actually, unless setting a writing schedule counts? I write every morning, rain or shine, for one hour before work. If I'm in the middle of writing a long-fic, I also write during my lunch break. I don't typically take days off either. So...I dunno? I do like to write while drinking coffee. Maybe that helps. Yes, let's say that.

Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?

I tend to prefer writing morally gray characters that eventually have a redemption arc. Not sure what that says about me, but I don't mind it. Haha.

What is your reason for writing?

It's a type of therapy for me. It's the only time of the day that I get to myself. I work full-time and I'm a mom, and as thankful as I am for that, I have my own desires and passions outside of those two things that I don't want to lose. Writing is my way of keeping that part of myself alive.

Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?

I love all types of comments, but I will worship the ground you walk upon if you're the kind of person who does reaction comments with quotes included. I try to comment this way too on other writers' fics to encourage more of this style of commenting because it's the best!

How do you want to be thought about by your readers?

If someone reads anything I've written and comes away with the sense of joy that I felt while writing it, I'd be absolutely thrilled.

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

I have a few that I'm proud of. Dialogue, particularly banter. Push-pull dynamics in relationships, especially in established ones. Morally gray characters. Foreshadowing and twists. I'll even it out by saying I'm not as confident in my description-writing abilities, which is partially my fault. I tend to skim descriptions in published books because they more often than not bore the hell out of me. LMAO. So...that's my bad. Interestingly, I really enjoy reading descriptions in fanfics, possibly because they tend to be more unique. Descriptions in published books are often very cookie-cutter and I feel like I've read them a million times before. Oh well.

How do you feel about your own writing?

Some days I love it, other days I think my writing is the worst, but I'm finding that's pretty normal when it comes to creators. We are very critical of our own work. I try to be kind to myself on days when I'm in a negative headspace because I know the feeling will pass. <3

I adore your fics and have been feverishly devouring them for years, but I was catching up and was SO confused by these tags at all, but especially in a non-time travel fic (I saw it in the tags for a couple of others):

'Parental Rex CT-7567 | Rex and Anakin Skywalker Adopt Ahsoka Tano, i will make that an official tag even if i have to write a bazillion fics to do so lol'

I just...please help me out lol. Even in a time travel fic, the traveller is generally visiting the clone wars era, not prior to the clone wars. Why would two men in their early twenties adopt or need to adopt a 15-17 year old and why would she want that? (Since a lot of fics are season 3-5 and she was 15 by season three and 17 when she left the order, or even ROTS era when shes on the cusp of adulthood)

Rex doesn't have a parental relationship with Ahsoka and was the biologically the same age as Anakin on Christophsis, despite the questionable choice to visually depict 18-26 year old young men as 45+, seeing as they age at twice the rate but canonically leave Kamino physically twice the age of ten, or even younger as the war continues like we saw with Domino squad being deployed early, making some clones the equivalent of being in their late teens.

Plo Koon had a very parental relationship with Ahsoka, which is a clear contrast to her working relationship with Rex and eventual close friendship.

Sorry, I'm just so confused! In a modern universe, it would be like a high school student working at McDonald's having a father-daughter relationship with their college night manager, which would be so inappropriate 😅

Anakin is her older brother-mentor and Rex is her equal, which is made so clear in season seven and they weren't close prior to that and them being close at all seemed to be a retcon.

Is it meant to be lowkey Rexwalker shippy? Am I missing something?

Anakin might have been very close in age to Ahsoka, but he was still her master, and that in and of itself is a very parental role. He protected/took care of her during the war and taught her everything she needed to survive, in a way that a parent would. That’s especially clear after seeing the flashbacks in the Ahsoka series. They might be too close in age to call them anything but siblings, but they’re also far more than just siblings because Anakin is still her caretaker and she’s his responsibility.

For Rex, it wasn’t really until seeing Tales of the Jedi, that made us realize how much Rex helped Anakin with training Ahsoka. Rex was like Anakin’s first friend since TPM (excluding Padme) and also based on the 7th Season, they obviously supported each other a lot in everything they did. So no, definitely no Rexwalker shipping, but a very close brotherly bond, so they both helped “raise” Ahsoka together, even if Rex is also so close in age to Ahsoka. (Technically, younger.)

I used to consider Plo as Ahsoka’s parent, but looking back, he’s really not. They might be close and he might be a mentor to her but he’s **not** a parent. If he was, he wouldn’t have just told Anakin to stop searching for her in the Padawan Lost arc, because she’s “responsible enough” to “find her way back to him”. Like come on. That’s not what you say about your child. Ever.

Anakin is the one who always worried over Ahsoka and protected her, and looked out for her. That’s why we consider him a parental figure to her. And Rex is just along for the ride.

I finally watched the whole first season of Ahsoka. I enjoyed some scenes but overall it did nothing to me. Initially I wanted to reblog this post by @gffa with some of my thoughts because I am very much agree with her "so much less than it could be" point of view. But. I was thinking about anything that Filoni could show us and I think I found a pattern.

I am writing fics for 15+ years, and back in my teens/early 20s I had a huge problem with writing conflicts in fics. I still suck at it, but back in the days I just completely avoided any serious conflicts both between characters and in narrative. Characters are deeply angry at each other in canon? They will speak for a half of the page and now they are best friends! X deeply hurts Y? They will speak half of the page and it will have no impact on their relationship! X suffers from trauma that can't be completely ignored in the fic? Well, I will do anything to talk about it as little as possible. X did a bad thing that will impact other characters' lifes? Either I won't show any consequences of his actions to the reader, or there will be no consequences because of some deus ex machina final.

Ahsoka show seem to have the exact same problem. It tries to have serious tone but runs away from any serious conflict. Sabine lost her family but it only briefly mentioned, she is traumatised, but never acts like a traumatised grown up woman, only like a moody teenager. Ahsoka is afraid to become just like Anakin, but it is super vague, he is just big bad and she kinda afraid to become big bad (or unintentionally turn Sabine into a big bad?.. ugh), we never seen her failing on screen, and after Anakin and Ahsoka talked for a bit she is fine again, uwu! Ahsoka's and Sabine's past is never properly explored on screen. Sabine and Ezra never had a proper conversation about what she did. Thrawn is another vague big bad who wants to make big bad things, so we never see any character reflecting their grievances against Empire or Thrawn himself. There is a lot of space in different episodes to remind what kind of horror Empire brings to the Galaxy, but all we see is some abstract phrases about "doing what right". Also, there is nothing to show that there is a full conspiracy going on, not just a blue dude with tattered remnants of his crew and couple of fanatics waiting for him to return.

As the result everything seem superficial, stakes are artificially lowered, because if Filoni digged deeper into any character ot theme, he wouldn't be able to glaze over conflicts and serious topics.

Overall I have an impression that the show hints some dramatic events and new facinating lore, but it never actually leads anywhere. Filoni just relies on fans to overanalyze everything and find a Deep Meaning.

Okay so the 'bad' news about Double Agent Vader is it's only got canon ships. Any time I ever recommend a non-obikin fic, know that it's TOP TIER because I can't read them otherwise. It helped that a lot of it's gen or not very romance focused BUT it's also so, SO well written that I fucking enjoyed the bits of HanLeia in it, a ship which usually makes me throw up in my mouth.

Everyone loves Double Agent Vader because it's the origin of the Amavikka, the OG Tatooine slave culture which absolutely fucks, but honestly? Even as popular as it is, it's STILL MASSIVELY UNDERRATED bc there is so much else to like besides the gorgeous worldbuilding!!

People are sleeping on phenomenal characterization, immense narrative effectiveness (the painful parts are painful, the funny parts are funny, the hopeful parts are hopeful, etc) and the level of emotional nuance in complicated relationships.

It also masterfully fills in material previously untouched in the OT (it's largely focused on Anakin's relationship with Leia for example) without disrespecting or neglecting what canon focused on (contains my absolute FAVOURITE portrayal of Luke Skywalker HANDS DOWN).

Like okay. You know how I say the rebels remind me of the grassroots af local punks I got in with as a teen who helped me start to deprogram? That didn't start when I watched the OT. That started when I read Double Agent Vader.

Especially the fic "Empire Day" after which I was like "this author has DEFINITELY spent a shitload of time with some irl group analogous to the Rebellion" because I felt like I was back on the couch at one of the illegal squats laughing at the last political joke a friend of mine told me before fleeing town bc he'd become enough of a problem for local Nazis that he was legit gonna die if he stayed. They got right everything contemporary media tends to get wrong about it. I just.

Fwoo. Deep breath cause I realize I did not start at the beginning here AT ALL lmao.

The premise of Double Agent Vader is that about ~4 years after the events of RotS, Palpatine sends Vader to visit Tatooine as a punishment to remind him of his place. But instead it reminds him of his people. And he soon starts thinking of himself as Anakin again, in his head referring to Sidious as depur instead of master, and starts working for the Rebellion behind Palps' back, and. What if OT but Vader is a rebel spy? And his cover is so deep most of the rebels don't know. They don't even fucking know.

This is an author who understands Anakin so well. I can't say much more without spoiling it.

And like. Years before the Kenobi series came out (last individual fic in the unfinished series was completed in like 2017), this was THE story that gave Leia the attention she deserved.

I'd give a fuckin kidney for this series to have continued up to RotJ, which was probs the author's initial plan. As it stands, it goes up to shortly after the end of ESB.

A small look into what i think would be obiwans kinks would be.

So sum up obiwan in one word? Repressed. My god the poor man is so repressed when it comes to sex.

A life time of being a well put together perfect jedi with perfect morals has taken its toll.

His late teens early twenties were spent raising anakin. So the man couldnt explore like other jedi his age.

He placed so much pressure on himself that when the time came to finally explore; and anakin was no longer attached to his hip he couldnt let go!

He struggled to give into his lust at first and was actually quite the shy submissive little bean.

He had sought you out quietly, confessing his attraction before revealing he was interested in doing 'stuff' if you wanted to.

To say your jaw went slack was an understatment. You were not what you thought hexd be i to. Loud boisterous and well known for being shall we say adventourous?

Youd been known to have fun. Lets just you didnt shy away from physical relationships. Yolo?

But when obi-wan had approached you, you felt like all your name days had come at once.

Naturally you jumped at the chance, dropping every single plan you had that day and run off with him. Because fuck, this was THE obi-wan.

You quickly found he was not the confident jedi master you had come to know when he was in the bedroom.

He was very very anxious of his reactions trying to keep himself in control. Bless him 🥲

At first he was always whimpering quiet 'no's' as you toyed with him trying to deny himself the most basic of pleasures; like being stuffed down the back of your throat.

It was so sweet, watching him fight with himself, trying to hold back whilst unable to stop his hips from snapping forward. The body was willing, but the jedi was stubborn.

He fought you every step of the way, bending and buckleing as you chipped away at his restraint with vulgar demands and condescending coos about his pitiful whimpers.

Oh yeah he also has a degradation kink. He wanted you to ruin him.

The dark teasing and wicked words brought the jedi master to his knees.

But good god when he finaly embraced his end? Fuck it's beautiful.

He is loud. Like really loud, which is funny becase the man tries so hard to be a quite little church mouse.

He is a masochist. He likes pain. And each time he endulges himself he gets more and more filthy.

It actually frightens you somewhat because his tolerance is high. Higher then your comfortable with if your honest.

Its no real surprise when he comes out as a switch. He does enjoy exercising his dominance.

A switch with big dick energy. (And an actual big dick)

One day you didnt quite push him far enough. He is always one to test his limit. And youd felt hesitant worried of taking things to far with a few of the toys you had.

He'd demanded more strikes, he wanted marks. Welts!

Youd refused beliving he was lost in the pleasure of it all.

That was it, the day you held back he pounced, snapping and turning the tables rather quickly.

You know what they say? Reap what you sow. And by god did you. Youd created a monster.

The man was a fucking menace. An insaitable sadist of the highest calibre.

But he never hurt you, no inflicting pain was not his thing. But pleasure? That was a different story.

He was addicted to watching you unraveled. There was so ething about have you at hos mercy that changed his sex drive. It sent him wild.

And he knew how to use its sharp sting of pleasure to torment you.

He would edge you for hours, teasing and tormenting you to an almost inhumane level for the fun of it.

More. He always needed more, more cum, more tears, more begging and hoarse shouts from you.

He quickly found he much preferred to be on top. He enjoyed being able to release himself in such a way.

He would fuck you like his life depended on it. Railing you, hissing sinister vulgar thoughts any darkness that dwelled within him smothered you in your many sexual encounters.

You somehow ended up becoming his own type of sex therapy; not that you minded, the man was a quick learner.

Fic Rec Friday

Here's today's lesson in 'people can't actually read your mind, dumbass' (it's me, I'm the dumbass in this scenario). I was talking to @palfriendpatine66 and just, like, assumed that I'd already written a big long treatise about how much I love Center Stage? But, then, turns out, I guess I haven't. So, here one is now!

The flashbacks, and the way they're integrated into the plot. Maybe I'm just so impressed by this because it is so hard for me, personally, to do. But there's two stories going on here, and one of them isn't even told completely linearly, and they both feed off of each other and one gives you context for the other but instead of it just being 'plot info dump background information hope you remember this because it will be important later' (which is how I tend to do it), it's pieced out at the time that you need it and it leaves me hungry for MORE. I was just as, if not more, invested in the 'backstory' as I was in the present-day stuff.

Obi-Wan and Anakin feel like them. I mean, you know I love a good sports-as-Jedi metaphor, and the dancing works really well too. It's physical and mental at the same time, so you get those elements that you get from a good sparring scene: sexual tension, Anakin wanting to impress Obi-Wan (who is maybe less physically flashy but more experienced), determination to get it right, having to balance technical prowess with emotion...

It's a fun little peek into a world that I don't have a lot of experience in; one of my favorite things in the world is an AU where the person is clearly writing from personal experience and I get to learn stuff about dance competitions or coffee shops or someone's job or whatever

THE PINING

You know what the pining deserves a second bullet point because it's that good, there's just such LONGING and old hurts that they have to work through but the love is always there, they just have to let themselves be brave and take a chance

This is maybe just a more specific version of bullet point 2 but Obi-Wan is not only a performer but a teacher, too, and still in that transition period between the two so he's grappling with his feelings about aging and shifting to a different stage (ha) of his career, and as someone who is very much into the current Star Wars trend (on TV, anyway) of exploring middle age and what happens after these really monumental life events this speaks to me personally. Like, these are actual adults who are learning to grow into themselves and they're still who they are but they've let life change them, too.

Again I'm still stuck on the flashbacks but you get to watch Anakin's progression from needy, broke, angry teen to quitting the studio and leaving Obi-Wan behind for supposedly greener pastures all the way to coming home to him again and it feels exactly right and very Anakin

All in sub 14k words which just boggles my mind because I don't know if you've noticed but brevity is not my jam and I am deeply impressed anytime someone manages to pack so much emotion into a (to me) short wordcount

This quote: "He loved Anakin now and he had loved Anakin then. He had never known a time where he didn’t love Anakin, it had just grown and changed along with them" which sums up canon Obikin to me in, like, ten seconds

Also, it has a happy and romantic ending, so even when things get tough, never fear it'll work out

Figured I might as well start actually posting about this Au I made- 

The au in question is a Star Wars modern au that I plan to one day turn into an actual fic, but as of now it's just one poorly put together chapter and a lot of brainstorming!

It's sort of a slice of life/everyone lives/happy ending story. It's centered around Boba Fett and started as a joke about his name and how in a modern setting when people first meet him they say 'Like the tea?' And he gets irrationally annoyed by it. Hence the name "No, Not The Tea" (but shortened to "Not The Tea" because removing 1 word suddenly makes it less of a mouthful)

But let's meet the characters, yeah?

The star of our show, Boba Fett, is 15 years old and the story starts with his first year of highschool.  He's grumpy (your typically moody teen) and the youngest of his brothers unless you count Din (14) and he does because he's tired of being the baby. (It does have its perks, though) Din isn't actually his brother, but he and the rest of their little rag tag group might aswell be family. (Peli 17, Fennec 16, and Cobb 15) 

Next up we have everyone's favorite dad, Jango Fett! (He's a very good father in this) Father of 3 boys(or so he thought) Kote "Cody" (23), Rex(19), and Boba, he has his hands full despite two of them being grown. He works as a bounty hunter (cause that's an actual profession) and his hobbies include annoying his family, and crushing on his kids history teacher. At the age of 18, he signed up to be a sperm donor unaware of just how much they would be using his DNA. Turns out? A lot. And the majority don't seem to have a good home life. He's sufficiently pissed, when he finds out. 

Coming in as the eldest child of the Fett household we have Cody! (That was until 17 and Fox showed up at least) Any legal document you find will say "Kote" but people are stupid and difficult and can't pronounce it (it's exceedingly simple, really) so Cody was born. Cody is a caffeine addict (though what Fett isn't?) and will jump at any opportunity to bother his younger brothers. (He once got Obi-Wan to buy Boba a boba-tea..Obi-Wan thought it was sweet! Boba almost committed a murder. They do not speak of that incident) 

The middle child that somehow became a father to twins before anybody else could even think of utter the words "grandchildren" would be Rex. It's not like it's his fault! He figured having his 8th period of his senior year would be fun. He didn't anticipate that helping his gym teacher out would involve talking a sophomore down from a panic attack. (Echo, 16 at the time. 17 when our story starts) It's absolutely not Rex's fault that he and his twin followed him around like little ducklings after that. (Fives called him dad as a joke, so Rex took it upon himself to tell Jango that he had grandkids and almost gave the man a heart attack.) It doesn't help the Echo and Fives look suspiciously like Boba- hey wait a minute! Yeah, you guessed it. Long lost kids^^ 

Alright speed round let's go,

Arla's kids are the Bad Batch boys(she adopted them, they have no relation to Jango. Hunter 21, Wrecker 20, Crosshair and Tech 19) Omega is 11 and her biological daughter. Her big brothers love her to death. 

Ahsoka is 19 and Rex's bff. 

Luke and Leia are also 11, and they're their parents (and Uncle Obi's, and auntie soka's) pride and joy. Anakin and Padme have basically adopted Han (15. Was in Boba's grade but got held back) as their own at this point. 

Wolffe is Cody's age, and the oldest of his brothers (Sinker, Boost, and Comet). They were put into the system (Yes, they came from Jango's DNA) and Plo Koon adopted them. When Jango and Plo first met they exchanged numbers and gushed about their children. (There is much more to that story but that's for a later post)

Ima-gun Di is an ex war general and currently married to Keeli. These two have absolutely NO role in the story whatsoever, I just love them. Jango has only met them once and it was because Ima-gun mistook Jango for Keeli at a grocery store once. 

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a tired, loving man who teaches history at a highschool and has a not so secret crush on one of his student's fathers. (He's actually taught all the Fett boy's, lord help him.)

Jaster Mereel just wants to know how his ad keeps ending up with kids. He was already confused where the first three came from but now there are 7??(Alpha-17. Oldest. Jango is more of a brother to him if anything. Fox, did not intend to be apart of this family in the slightest and that was fine up until he met Boba and they bonded. Now he's an Ori’vod?? Yeah that checks. Then of course Cody, Rex, Echo&Fives, and Boba.) Best grandfather ever.

Mando'a is a language, because I actually love it sm- 

There is so much more lore to this au than I realized, and this isn't even all of it. I fully plan on posting more, and I have a lot of art that I've done for it if I would ever get around to finishing it/posting it. Feel free to ask questions, and I hope to post more!

It also has a little epilogue piece which (in my opinion) has the funniest star wars imagery. I truly recommend reading these if you love canon compliant obikin.

An *entire* fic about Obi-Wan’s hands y’all. It’s really soft and I’d say a feel-good fic if you’re in the mood for some fluff and love. There’s also a lot of pining (which is the draw!) but it’s all resolved in the end and it’s so beautifully done!

Again, what it says on the tin. It’s really well done though, I can’t wait for it to be completed. Tbh personally I really enjoy stories around Anakin’s mechno arm, and this one...well. I really really like it.

In the aftermath of the Clone Wars, Palpatine dead and untold tragedy averted, the Republic struggles to heal and rebuild itself.

Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi attempt to do the same with their own relationship, riddled as it has become with betrayal, distrust, and hurt. It's not going too well. Desperate and unwilling to accept that maybe their friendship is ruined, Anakin finds a counselor they can talk to, one that specializes in healing "teams."

Or, as the counselor would probably put it, married couples, which they are decidedly not. Not that she knows that though. And not that they know that she thinks they're in a romantic relationship either. What a silly assumption to make. It's not like they're more intimate than lovers or anything.

YOOOOOOOO God this fic this fic!!!!!! I don’t know if I need to rec Kit’s fics honestly, as with some other authors I can feel people going “yes we are aware of this fic” but as I said, I want to do an honest list lol. Listen this one really has the potential to end me I don’t know. I’m really into the premise, the setting, the dialogue, the everything.

This has every single trope I can want in a fic - first time, virginity kink, canon-verse!!!!!! I love their dynamic in this, especially love how suave Obi-Wan is. The tone, the setting, the dialogue... chef’s kiss.

Anakin breaks once they’re in the turbolift, alone, a dozen stories beneath the Council chamber and climbing steadily downwards.

“Are you even going to look at me?” he blurts out into the heavy silence, his own eyes fixed straight ahead. Obi-Wan stands still as stone beside him, but for the rise and fall of his chest, their shoulders just a breath from touching. His hands are folded into the sleeves of his robes, the very image of the calm Jedi Master.

It’s infuriating. It makes Anakin want to fidget, makes him want to run the edges of his own sleeves between his fingers and twist just for something else to focus on, but he catches himself just in time.

He doesn’t want to give Obi-Wan the satisfaction of sensing him squirm.

Or, Anakin returns from a series of missions and thinks Obi-Wan is angry with him.

Obi-Wan being angry with Anakin because he’s being too reckless is *my jam* I love this trope of one of them being too worried about the other one because they’re too reckless!!! This is beautifully written as always, I genuinely love angry!obi-wan so much, possibly one of my favourite obi-wans.

Anakin is an alpha with few hobbies, chief among them watching his favourite omega and amateur videographer Ben showcase his many, many talents. Anakin tells himself he isn't obsessed, but when he finds out Ben is a lot closer to him than he realises, he stops at nothing to get what he wants. That is, Ben's sweet little ass--even if Ben turns out to be Anakin's stuffy, buttoned-up Lit professor.

Ahhhh last but not least! Mind the tags, again with a bit of a darker Anakin in this one, but I am so obsessed with the story telling aspect and I’ll be hones the idea of ~professor kenobi being on cam on the side is just. You know. They also have a couple other stories as a part of the obikin fest s1 which you should check out!

The short answer to this question is 80% of the time no jalksdf. The fics I've been writing lately (comics, Moon Knight) are already a visual medium, so obviously I do just kind of use what the characters actually look like in the comic I most strongly identify with them or the TV show. In the end everything sorts out into a really generic mental animation style that's not really anything in particular. The longer answer is that I fucking WISH I did because my actual lifestyle gets so fucking messy. Like all of this actually severely really bothers me nonstop.

Because so much of what I write is multimedia I can't just play the OG work in my brain. Hey, do the other SW writers who think visually have the problem of like - so Obi-Wan in your mind is live action from ROTS, but Ahsoka is CGI from TCW, and Anakin is either live action ROTS or cartooney if he's younger than 19, and the clones are simultaneously live action Jango Fett and CGI clones and it makes it KINDA hard to visualize things? And the exact same issue when writing comic fics with a cast that is half live action and half cartooney in your brain? Like, am I the only one with this issue?!

It is so problematic for the new story bc of 3 different works with so many different art styles. Mr. Knives Trigun has a highly stylized 90s anime appearance that I don't think of him as, and a super realistic modern CGI appearance with which is how I think of the character, except none of that works for MY Knives, and obviously Millie is 90s anime, and Meryl is some sort of demented mix, Brad & Luida are 300% CGI, and Wolfwood is fucking impossible since he's from one hyper-super stylized woodcut-ass flashback of the CGI anime and AGH. Imagine new Knives Trigun as the 'I'm a healer but' meme guy because that's all I can fucking give you.

Again like this like 'Meg is this an actual problem you have when writing Star Wars, Comics, and Trigun' and the answer is that it's a BIG PROBLEM that BUGS ME. How the fuck do you guys live??? Is this just me?!?!

In brighter but equally uselessly complicated news, New Wave was more complicated since everybody was really specifically designed in my mind in a specific animation style and since I can't draw Y'all Will Never Know it. Obviously it was very 00s animation - you can really safely imagine Bruce as himself from the 00s Batman cartoon. I really liked how much sleeker and skinnier and younger he looks in that design! Steph has the BIG hair from her first Robin arc and Tim has Jake Animorph style Generic 90s Relatable Teen Boy visuals.

Most of it from 2012-2015

I posted my first story in 2012 - on fanfiction.net though, only adding it to ao3 a bit later - and the feedback I got made me write like crazy. Made me decide to study English at university. For me who isn’t from an English speaking country that choice was as much to make my English better as to make my ability to write stories better. How to make any of it fit with a job could come later.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

It used to be Harry Potter. And I owe a lot to the people in that fandom. Now, for reasons many share, I’ve left that behind.

The last couple of years and probably for years to come the answer is Star Wars. I need to get deep into a fandom before the urge to write for it grabs me, so while I’ll enjoy other things too, they’re not likely to become stories.

That’s also the reason I’ve not written much original stuff. I want to know the characters before I write them. When I’m the one who has to create them, I have to write to get to know them and it’s not my favorite thing.

Anyway! Within Star Wars I tend to prefer focusing on the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan. It’s strong and messy and I find it fascinating.

Second to that comes Vader and Luke.

I also adore Cal Kestis from the games about the early years of the Empire.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

These are all going to be Harry Potter fics.

Oh, they’re all Harry Potter Crossovers! That used to be my thing. Mainly pairing it with the MCU. Most of these are really old and each time new MCU content comes out, new people find them. And for the first one which is a completed Harry Potter/Loki I think it’s reached the top listing in that pairing and it’s snowballing.

I had a series where I accepted prompts. I wouldn’t have written this without that. Which is why it’s not longer. I wrote until I’d filled the prompt. I do t know why this is so popular either.

This I put a whole lot of work into and I’m still fairly pleased with it. I just lost momentum and then interest in the fandoms.

Based on a tumblr post. I took an idea and slashed it out. Funny little story.

This was a labour of love. I proved to myself that I could write something longer than 5k words and complete it. I think it turned out pretty good.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I used to be better at it. For short comments I don’t feel like there’s much to say. I appreciate them, but they don’t open up a conversation. For longer comments, especially given shortly after I post I make an effort to respond.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

The time that is given us | Harry Potter/Tom Riddle. Time travel. Time loop. Complete. 2k words

It was written for the following prompt: “Write a story about your OTP that has an UNHAPPY ENDING” and boy was it ever unhappy.

Uhhh. I’m notorious for not completing my multi chapters. The ending is missing most of the time

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

It has happened. It’s been a long time though. And it was like one comment at a time not a storm. And it’s been things like “this is so gay.” And I’m like, yes, that was the point.

9. Do you write smut?

I’ve begun to. Mostly I never got to the point of my multi chapter stories where it was relevant. But my first published story is more explicit in hindsight than I realized even though there’s no touching and no one takes off their clothes.

Last year I published my first story where smut what’s the main point. Still plotty though.

10. Do you write crossovers?

As seen in my top 5 kudos list. Yes. I used to. I loved it. It was most of what I read and wrote for many years.

The first Star Wars fics I wrote and trying for are also Harry Potter crossovers. They’re incomplete and gathering electronic dust though.

It is more than likely that I’ll try it again. Just gotta find a story I want to smush together with Star Wars.

Posted to other sites by other people without them asking me: yes. Many times.

Someone claiming to have written my stories: no. Not as far as I’m aware.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I’ve had offers. People saying they want to translate. But as far as I remember no one delivered. Or might have been one case where the first chapter in a story was translated.

I welcome translations and pod fics etc!

I just want to know where they’re posted so I can read any comments.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Not as such. I’ve had some significant collaborations. One which I hope I’ll get to see published soon. But never something where I share the work 50/50 or even 30/70

14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?

Obikin is the winner because od the fact that compared to other pairings I’ve been obsessed with, it has to most canon content to draw from and that makes the relationship richer and more complex than any of the competitors. Because of their shared history, I think it might keep the throne even should I move on to something else.

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I’ve not felt much for any of my wips lately. Neither the published stories nor the unpublished ones. So most of them deserve the status abandoned. My mood might change and I might want to return though. My mood is liable to change

16. What’s your writing strengths?

Characterisation!

I study and analyse the characters in untreated in until I know them and can stay two to their core despite putting them in circumstances that are different from where we know them from. I’ve had many compliments about my characterisation through the years. And it’s the most frequent compliment I get.

Humor too. I think I can be funny. The feedback implies it.

I also think I’m good at setting up tension and delivering an emotional experience.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Following through!

I’m struggling with picking stories that aren’t so long my interest in them will be over long before they are complete.

Endings overall I find a struggle. Most of my ideas are an inciting event and what drives me is that I want to see where that leads. Not knowing the destination means I don’t know how to get there, and I get lost along the way and quit.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I used to do more of it, but I dunno. I find Swedish to be awkward to put into fics, I think this is a remnant how growing up movies and music in English were seen as a lot cooler, and using languages I don’t know makes the perfectionist and linguist in me cringe.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Long before I knew what fandom or fanfic was. Years before I could write even, I had my mum write down stories for me while I drew the pictures (I was 4-5 years old). The two I remember were “sequels” to Disney films. First out Snow White. Second the Little Mermaid.

First fandom I wrote for as a teen who had discovered the phenomenon on the internet: Dragon Age Origins. It was als the first thing I published. I removed it only weeks later though. I understood that copying the game dialogue word for word and adding only a few things myself was something I didn’t like reading at all after the first couple of times and didn’t want others to read my poor attempt of that type of story.

Oldest published story that remains available is Harry Potter

Second oldest is a Harry Potter and BBC Merlin crossover (which I used for a school project and got a top grade on. Weird times. I think writing that many words in English (foreign language) that didn’t suck was the reason. Also, I printed it and bound it as a book myself. That probably helped.)

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

In a way the Harry Potter Merlin crossover I mentioned above. It’s long (though incomplete). It made me grow so much. I had one commenter who wrote essays to me each chapter and I’m beyond grateful for that. It was the first story I worked with a beta reader on. And it saved me from doing a real school project

Is it the best writing I’ve done? No.

Would I recommend it to you now? Not really no. But yeah. I’m proud of it.

Two Destines | “There are ordinary people, people with great destinies and there is Harry who has two. He is Harry Potter the-boy-who-lived. He is also Prince Harry Pendragon of Camelot, younger brother of the future King Arthur. He grows up in Camelot and he has to conceal his strange powers from everyone until a young man with a destiny of his own arrives.” Incomplete. 74k words.

If fic can mean any story, I have a semi original short story (it draws on the sleeping beauty fairytale) that I wrote for a competition to get published in anthology. It almost made the cut, they said, and sometime, I should make an effort to get it published.

So, what about anakin and obi-wan's hair care routines? Any bar soap happening there?

ok so this sent me on a little trip and i ended up exploring hygiene generally instead of just hair care. i love the very tactile feel of fic where very slightly post-tpm anakin is adjusting to life in the temple and has to reckon with what would register as very mundane differences to other people but feel like massive shifts for him. so that influenced this exploration quite a bit.

especially when it concerns the basics of daily life like hygiene and eating habits. going off of this, i imagine that anakin’s hygiene evolves as he gets used to being a padawan and living at the temple.

so i think he would do things like wash his hair with bar soap at first! he wouldn’t know what to use exactly. i think he also would brush it too much because that’s what he’s used to. this is a good way to explain why tpm anakin’s hair is straight- because his mother brushed his wave/curl pattern flat. nobody told shmi about the curly girl method and also she was a little busy for that. she probably cut his little bowl cut with a literal bowl.

anakin’s a smart kid and figures out pretty naturally over time that when you have more regular access to water and different kinds of hygiene products there’s a variety of approaches to grooming. i like the idea that obiwan teaches him about this in bits and pieces. there’s room for this in scenarios like the bathing fic @predator-padawan wrote and also in letting anakin observe obiwan’s routine and ask his idle little boy questions about it. he would likely be the one to explain to him that you care for different hair textures and skin types in different ways. also this provides so many opportunities for obiwan to be tenderly guiding anakin through these massive life changes in small, concrete ways which has become such a huge part of their early dynamic to me now…..

anyway. once anakin has a sense of his options he settles into a pretty easygoing routine. he doesn’t wash his hair or body every day, and to care for his hair texture better as he gets older, he starts doing no ‘poo (this is part of why he looks a little greasy but i love it and think it’s very cute).

obiwan i imagine is very meticulous about hygiene and has a lot of facts in his head about skin pH and the acid mantle and hair and scalp health that govern most of his hair and skin care choices. being clean and not damaging his hair or skin is the primary focus and looking good is just kind of a secondary effect. he uses unscented and gentle products wherever possible and anything scented would be mild. anakin loves this because it means obiwan always smells like obiwan.

i’m gonna cut this off here so i don’t go forever LOL but also. obiwan is mom coded in that he is applying moisturizer after showers and before bed. and also gently nudging anakin to shower more often as a teen (anakin definitely has an unchecked body odor phase)
