#quick looked up some video from That Time and even the [a couple years later for the sequel no postproduction editing] like still no#would not have recognized his [a couple years after That] voice at all. in that i did not. not that i ever really recognize VA's out here#but there's like Just enough that's distinctive there that i'm surprised i didn't in a real like What? No. Cmon lol way rather than oh huh..#really did have to jeffpardy theme intently look it up like i just figure it would've been recognizable for sure#and now yeah sure i mean a) i believe that i'm not being scammed abt their film credits lmfao & b) it's like okay ig i can hear it Knowingly#what's the italian equivalent of a la.#''sul'' apparently but i don't really mean A La i guess. so how about via lol#they grow up so fast when they're like thirteen exactly and then vs idk being what. sixteen seventeen#this kid was like deluxe tiny did they commit to everyone being the same age / true to being like twelve thirteen w/e....#i also am just saying ''exactly'' for flair idk anything evidently. who are you people. i knew even back in the day like right that's one of#the strangers but if he did some VA a few years later i sure wouldn't recognize it i suppose lmao#it's remarkable enough when i recognize someone via Face And Voice so yknow#i mean any given Film it's like what Aren't the odds some actor is flying under the radar completely that i have seen/heard elsewhere. & yet#just really threw me for a loop like did not have a flicker of recognition for any of their dialogue but would've expected to evidently lmao#meanwhile i do feel the [hmm i wanna draw the dinosaur fish designs] again lmao maybe after i finish wrangling this one shot#take a lil break....it's fast easy & free & the shapiness makes it v like. part 06!! and the end of Act 1
01 02 03 04 05 06
OK SO THAT'S THAT
I don't have anything else storyboarded right now, I have the dialogues for Act 3 written down, but for the 2nd Act I'm gonna have to rewatch parts of WCI. I'm also thinking of a different approach, more like a series of illustrations not a comic, but idk yet, I'll have to rewatch and see!
It's not like I'm actually using a 3 Act structure as in 'a method of writing a story', I don't know how to and I haven't tried learning that (YET). I just think its neat and reflects how I divided my artistic process. I've always seen this story in my head as 3 parts.
And before I delve into part 06, I can't stop myself from saying that....... part 05 really needed another closeup on Sanji's face. If I ever try and repost it to another site then maybe I'll add it (between the panels of Ichiji & Zoro and the closeup on the spear, it would help the rythym but also strengthen the emotional connection, before Sanji shuts himself off)
Anyhow part 06
Most panels were a breeze, but the last two, my god, I just couldn't get them right for the longest time. In the end my favourite panels are the closeups of Luffy and Nami, I should really draw them more.
Here's how this panel in particular went:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did like how the pose was looking in my first rough pass, the face is scrunched, the shoulders are high with tension, the direction is consistent
Couldn't execute it though... I think in the first rough sketch the camera is looking at Luffy slightly from above? Like he's leaning into it. That's why the shoulders can be so high up, but I didn't realize what it was when trying to clean it. So when cleaning the sketch I drew the head on the same level as the camera which made the whole pose look flat, also in this weird angle, like it's not fully 3/4, but it's not facing forwards either.
I didn't know what wasn't working, so I doubled down and tried with the lineart, but it didn't magically help. It just looks like he's slouching.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. so I tried to rethink the pose and commit to a 3/4 view. I like that more of the neck is visible now, you can feel that he's leaning forward with the scream, but I think I could have pushed it a bit more still
5. with linework I made some small changes, like a bit shorter hair, smaller nose and the eyes pushed back a bit. I also added the scratches and filled in the black parts
6. added flat colors & shading!
Last panel with Sanji was even harder to draw hehe
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so I thought this would be easy bcs I wanted to basically redraw the panel from the anime
that's why my rough sketch was extremely rough, I didn't think about it much
and then I had so much trouble with it lmao You'd think that it would be easier when you're covering the character's face, but I was in this undecided space of on one hand wanting to show the pain on Sanji's face and staying truthful to the anime scene on the other. I also found it super diffucult to show the emotions without the eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. The pose in 3. also wasn't working so I tried to make him more slouched, like he's curling in on himself more, it was definitely a better direction. I tried going into lineart from here but I didn't like how the fingers were turning out
5. So I decided to get a new ref and took a picture of how I'd make this gesture myself. With this pose I also changed the position and angle of the face slightly, bcs it would have created a very small space between the hand and the nose and I wanted the two shapes to connect
6. I really liked the hand, but was having trouble with the hair, it felt too short, still couldn't get the face right either
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
7. so I elongated the hair and worked on the face some more and was finally happy with what I had!
8. added colors! At first I had it colored like the other panels, color just on Sanji then gradient on the bottom helping it fade to black, but it wasn't sitting well with me. Maybe because the space above his head was too big and I didn't want to have a background here and also wasn't adding the little floating pieces to the carriage scene (these were reserved for the grass battlefield)
9. SO! I made Sanji's figure darker and also added a darker shade to the whole scene and I think it ended up working really nice. Like he's drowning in the darkness, the only element piercing through it are Luffy's words. It also just fills up the space better lmao, feels less empty visually
Its gonna be A WHILE, before I have updates for this, I'm gonna have to start with the rewatch anyway. Right now I'm gonna have to focus on finishing my extra pieces for the @rdtriozine !! If any of you read this far you may as well check it out lmao I have a full illustration spread there and gonna have spots for a fic too ❤️ I just need to draw them!!! AGHHHH

these are just sketches but I NEED to get these out, so! It is indeed going to be a college AU (is that surprising)
I finally got to draw my skinny jeans flannel Cross lol, I planned on doing a whole brainstorming thing to get an idea of where I wanted to go with it but what actually happened is that I picked up my stylus and blacked out
Basic premise is like, Cross and Killer go to the same college, and they meet and it's cute and stuff. Killer lives with his coven: Nightmare, Dust and Horror
Nightmare is a European (probably english?) vampire who's like 500 yo (easy that was already his age)
Dust would be like a traditional Korean vampire (I'll have to do research on dates and the inner workings of Korean society a long time ago cause I also want to give him accurate old clothing from that place and period) idk about age but definitely younger than Nightmare by at least a few centuries
And Horror is actually a wolf shifter. (Not to be confused with werewolves I will explain) but basically!! I'm hoping he can act as a sort of mentor for Cross later on? Like "holy shit that is a pup and he is very weird and does not know how to be a werewolf I need to fix him"
Killer is like a twenty year old (hence why he's going to college) and he is the youngest! All the others in the coven just stay at the manor while Killer goes out and stuff
Cross... Is an anxious mess. Who is also very big and bumps into everything and says sorry to chairs. The mark under his eye is the scratch mark that made him a werewolf.
And! perfect time for me to explain the difference between a wolf shifter and a werewolf. Wolf shifters are basically just 'werewolves' that were born that way. They are akin to nature spirits, werewolves on the other hand are normal people who either have been cursed (or maybe a wolf shifter that's forsaken or smth I need to choose between the two) or someone who's been bitten/scratched by an already infected werewolf. Most wolf shifters don't want to interact with werewolves.
Meaning. Cross was a normal kid. Got hurt by a werewolf at a very young age but wasn't integrated into a pack leaving him with no bond with anyone so no family. Cool. Bro's life sucks.
Killer clocks Cross' lycanthropy before Cross clocks Killer's vampirism, actually Cross would have to be told I think lol

hi ..! sorry to um bother you but you made a map of your clans territories a few days ago its reallyyy cute your art is so nice by the way <- not flattery just saying things. well you drew the map in a really clear Easy to Understand way and i was wondering if you had any tips on that ? ive always struggled trying to think of how the territories can fit together yknow its hard for me to visualize exactly how they all work ..
I can try to give some advice tho this was the first time I tried drawing a map so it was really just trial and error heh 😅
Layout wise:
It took me VERY long to figure out how I wanted the territories to fit together. What I did was make a rectangle frame and then I sketched a lot of different ideas of the border lines and layouts for a while to figure things out!
The main things I thought about were: which clans need to border eachother for the plot? Ex: i needed Roar, Sing, and Growl to border Whisper! I then planned around that! I also thought about the clan's relationships to eachother and to the land, like I knew I wanted Singing to be friends with Weeping do I put them next to eachother. And I knew I wanted Singing to center around the river so I placed them so the river went right thru their territory!
It takes a lot if trial and error but I got there eventually!
Style and readability wise:
I went through a few different versions of what style I wanted, but I settled on it being more representative rather than super size accurate. I think this helped with giving it some whimsy while also making is easier to read!
For example: I made the mountain really tall and pointed, would that actually make since size wise? Probably not, but it helps show the viewer the vibes of the territory and the difference between it and the other clans' territories!
I also used a lot of simplified items , like the trees are all one blob shape with little sticks on the bottom, this was so the map wasn't too busy and you could see the basic shape of where the forests were.
I also left out small things like extra little shrubs or trees to keep things less busy as well, like there are probably a few more plants in Whisper, Roar, Growl and Echo territory but I left it more flat and plain so things stayed simple and easy to read!
I also used the different color pallets of each clan to color each of the territories, which helped in keeping each separate and showing where each clan border is! Not very realistic but who cares it helps with labeling!
Idk if any of this is helpful, but this is what I got hehe

Hi! I was curious about how you organise work with your comics, including the writing parts :)
Idk if my process is how it's supposed to be done, but I'll share what's been working for me so far!
So for the btb comic, I got it written last year before the 'change' comic was done being drawn. I learned alot about how I wanted to do storytelling with that comic and it influenced how I organized the sequel.
One thing I learned from the 'change' comic is I absolutely loathed drawing the same location too much. Most of that comic is the wedding and by the end of the wedding I was so sick of drawing the wedding scenes (it almost caused me to quit a few times lol).
So when writing the script for the sequel I told myself every chapter would indicate a scene change. This would help me get through drawing a chapter knowing a new scene location would be drawn for the next chapter.
A scene change can be as small as a different room or as big as a new location, as long as *something* changed about the background I would have to draw.
Each chapter is its own word document (well google docs now, i switch over)
I write my stories in movie script format. When researching how to write comics I found the most helpful advice was screenwriting advice. I highly encourage people to watch youtube videos on screenwriting. I also watched a ton of videos aimed at screenwriters that talk about plot, how to write interesting characters, and the three act structure.
I made sure i could answer questions such as "why is my character doing this?" And "what motivates them?" And "how does their wants and desires change throughout the story?" I made sure that each character's motives and personality could answer these questions with a few simple words. I needed to make sure I have a clear understanding of what they wanted.
I go through a TON of edits in my chapters. I even edit alot when I finally start drawing, if I think some dialogue would work better rephrased once I see it next to my art. Editing is huge. Your first draft really is just getting the "dumbest" version down. Once you get over that hurdle, you can mold the script into what you need.
I remove a lot of dialogue during edits. Comics are a visual story telling device, so i try and make sure the words and art work together, and that the words don't feel like they could exist without the art.
There is nothing I hate more than when a comic page is a giant block of text. I find large scary blocks of text uninteresting, So I will often go out of my way to draw more panels if it means breaking up the dialogue.
I also try my best to write realistic dialogue. Would this character say this? Why are they saying this?
If you notice with my stories alot of characters are not direct in how they speak. In real life no one tells you directly "i am mad". They deflect, lash out, say things because they are jealous or hurt ect ect. I wanted to do my best to have my dialogue reflect how each character would realistically handle the pain they are dealt.
When I start drawing, I have the script for the chapter I'm working on open on one computer screen, and my art tablet with my program open on the other. This way as I'm drawing I can easily reference my script.
If I'm drawing an action heavy scene, I will often start paneling out on paper some crude sketches just so I can keep track of where everything should be. It's easy for things to get lost in the action so I try my best to make sure I am aware of where every character is in busy scenes.
Tumblr media
These drawings are extremely crude but really really helpful. I don't mind sharing these as they are so abstract they don't really give anything away lol. But they do help me organize.
I use clip Studio to draw and from there start drawing my pages. Each page takes about 2-3 days to finish depending on complexity. I think I get about two pages done a week, more if I have vacation days or something from work.
I have a full time Quality Analyst job, so I'm only able to work on my comic between the hours of midnight and 5am lol. It's why you always see me updating and posting at horrible hours lol.
Anyway I hope that helps? Hopefully I answered your questions!

This is a fun idea that I’ve had rolling in my head for a while, but you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to! What if the reader likes to draw, so obviously, when surrounded by those snackable men in East company, she draws them! She puts little notes next to the faces (ex. Thinks he’s gods gift to women, or sweetest man alive), and maybe how some of the Easy boys would react to flipping through the sketchbooks and seeing the notes? With Toye, Luz, Bull, and Shifty?
A/N: I drew them for no reason. In like half an hour. I am so stupid somebody sedate me. Btw I actually read this when you sent it and thought omg I love it, and then completely forgot it existed. Enjoy these super delayed headcanons? <3
Warnings: none
JOE TOYE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hey, whatchu got there?"
Bad start.
You halfheartedly let him flip through the pages and this man's slack jawed.
Keep in mind that, while Joe knows you sketch in your free time, he has no idea you sketch them.
Double shock when he gets to his face.
Doesn't process the silly notes at first because something's not clicking.
You drew him. Him. Out of- him?
Tries his best not to blush
Genuinely doesn't know how to react
AND THEN HE SEES THE NOTES
This man cannot hold back a little smile of endearment when he reads 'toughest motherfucker' because that's a big ass compliment.
Specially considering he thinks he's a dud.
'an actual sweetheart' this man choked on his own words. A SWEETHEART. HIM. A-
"Do you... Like it or...?"
"It's— yeah no, I-I love it. They're really good huh..." Tries to act cool while he hands it back.
He can't look at you in the eye for a hot minute because you made his brain shortcircuit with a quick sketch.
Tough and a sweetheart. No one had ever called him a sweetheart.
Toye knows he's got a soft side to him, but it's buried so deep he never thought someone would notice.
Bot you did, and it keeps him up at night for months I'm not even kidding.
GEORGE LUZ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
George is bored. He's very vocal about it.
You don't care. You're very vocal about it too.
Well too bad because Luz wants attention so he's going to annoy you until he gets some.
Verbal vexation doesn't work because you're currently focused on sketching Malarkey, so he switches to plan B; snatching the sketchbook away from you.
Immediately teases you about drawing Don while you chase him through the house you're billeted in.
Flips through the pages without actually seeing shit because initially he just wanted your attention and he got it.
But then he catches a glimpse of his face and sudden he's actually interested.
A boyish grin lights up his gaze.
He's way too happy about a damn sketch and he knows it but he can't help it.
You drew him and he looks handsome. He has never thought of himself as handsome but apparently you did.
Shoves you away to read the notes.
'Easy's source of joy'. THE REASSURANCE HE FEELS-
He snickers at the 'human lucky charm.
Then his head snaps at you in disbelief.
"SHORT?!" He's FLABBERGASTED. It's your turn to laugh.
Also run because George is so chasing you.
He's not sure what he's gonna do when he gets you. Probably hit you with the goddamn sketchbook. Probably kiss you idk he'll see.
BULL RANDLEMAN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bull knows you sketch them for fun.
He's caught a glimpse of a couple of drawings here and there but never said anything, not even to you.
But now you two are sitting by each other's side at a bar in silence and he's adamant about making a conversation with you.
He bumps your arm, tilts his chin at you and then at the sketchbook peeping from your bag.
"Can I see 'em?"
How are you gonna say no to this absolute darling? To be fair you forgot about the little notes on his drawing.
He nonchalantly flips the pages, occasionally nodding and making quiet comments.
"You got talent, Y/n/n."
He's got the book wide open so you can see what he's seeing. And you see his drawing. And the notes.
Bull's heart swells at the sketch. It shouldn't surprise him— the fact that he's got his own page, but it does.
He reads the first note and the corner of his lip twists up. HE READS THE SECOND NOTE AND SNORTS.
He quirks a brow at you. "Anything you wanna tell me?"
You're mortified. He assures you he's completely kidding. Congratulates you on the drawings. Gives it back and watch your every move.
Husband material huh?
SHIFTY POWERS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shifty makes eye contact with you while you're sketching him. Thrice.
First time you give him a mortified smile and he doesn't get why, but he returns it.
Second time he knows something's up. He sees the sketchbook.
Third time he walks up to you.
You attempt to uhm pretty much run away because you just finished so there's no need to stick around anymore.
He cuts through and get to you before you can leave.
"What were you drawing?" He asks, but he means 'were you drawing me?'
You show him and his eyes light up with joy.
He struggles with words but his visage is a very telling sign that he actually loves it.
He goes through everybody's sketch and asks if you were gonna add any notes to his.
The fact that he seems so excited about it dims your embarrassment and gives you a little bit of courage.
So you take back the sketchbook and scribble the notes before giving it back.
HE LOOKS EVEN HAPPIER.
'certified guardian angel' HELL YES, HE'LL KEEP YOU SAFE ANY DAY.
'lovely but deadly' he wants to kiss you. Much like Toye, he's not used to people seeing both parts of him, but... You do?
"Could I... Maybe... Keep it?"
You're surprised no one else has asked for the drawing. Maybe they assumed you wouldn't give it away.
Shifty's eyes widen momentarily when you rip the page and hand it to him.
He'll cherish the sketch forever.

also if it's not bothering i'd like to ask you if you have any tips on how to make a zine/fanzine? i've been wanting to for a while but i am unsure how to and it feels kind of intimidating
yeah no worries! the good news is that personal zines are pretty easy to make because you can put basically anything into one and make it any length/size you want. they also come in a lot of different forms - you can make one that's just a digital pdf, post some loose pngs online, draw it out on some sheets of paper that you staple or fold together, have it printed at a professional printing service, or create an entirely new method that works for the zine you're making. it's up to you and depends on what resources you have or what zine you want to make - which is always the first step! start with an idea or general theme you want to make your zine about, which can be quite literally anything. is it a fanzine about some characters you like? a personal comic? a various collection of your art, writing, or other creations? again, can be literally anything.
i can help most with digital zines because that's what i've made and participated in so far. really the biggest hurdle with any zine is just making the stuff that goes in it - i was very ambitious to make dance in fire over 30 pages, especially since it was my first solo zine. i say start small, zines can be as few as four pages if you want. if you do want to make a longer zine, something i did that i highly recommend is finding old sketches or unfinished/unposted art that you can use as a starting point for some pages. or just keep them in an unfinished state! sketch pages are always a welcome addition imo.
another thing i recommend if you're making a long zine (though is entirely optional) is keeping a tracker with the pages you want to make or have already been completed. this is part of what my tracker spreadsheet looked like for dance in fire - just a way for me to log when things are done, what things needed to be changed, any info i wanted to keep written down. this was a HUGE help for me personally since i was dealing with a lot of pages of just. stuff.
Tumblr media
with digital zines, you don't necessarily have to make every page the same size, but i suggest sticking to one page size to keep everything cohesive. for dance in fire, every page is about 7x10in (with a little bit extra added for print bleed). once everything is done, there's a couple of different ways to combine everything into one pdf. sometimes you can export multiple canvases as a single pdf depending on the drawing program you're using - my version of clip studio can't do that, so i uploaded 37 individual pngs of the pages to an online pdf converter and just downloaded that lmao
last thing to figure out is where to host your zine - if you have a pdf, there's a few online file hosting platforms you can share them on. i used itch.io which is mostly for indie games and creators, some other people i know use github. these are good places to host your zine if you want to sell it, but you can probably also do that on ko-fi or patreon if you wanted? idk i don't have experience with those
that's all i got for now! there's some tricky stuff to figure out if you're printing a digital zine, but i'm still in the process of figuring that out myself so that might have to be a guide for another time lol

um um um I'm back and I decided to analyze your art cause I really admire it :')
Honestly, I've noticed you use the same line width, if not similar line widths throughout the entire piece, which makes the dresses easier to swallow compared to how some artists draw, and I also think it goes perfectly with the overall simplicity of your art! While it is rather simple, it is also rather easy to add details into it to make it much more fun to do and gorgeous to look at.
I also love how you color things, as it is also pretty simple and goes with the line art, but it's also really easy to add details that you can overlook but still add to the drawing! Not even to mention how well the background goes with the outfits, especially in cases like the black hole dress or the white and blue angel dress (which both look amazing and are easily some of my favorite pieces ever)
Anyways once more, your art looks gorgeous and has given me so much inspiration and insight into my own art and how I can better it, as well that keeping things simple can totally help my art a ton!!!
um anyways sorry for the paragraphs but tysm for making the blog, it has cheered me up multiple times before and it probably will do it again countless times <33
This is so freaking cool to read, you absolutely hit the nail on the head with some of these comments :D Hope you don't mind if I add some insight on my part since it's so lovely idk if I could post it without anything to say.
But yeah, my usual choice in brush is literally a default CSP brush with the pen pressure turned off, and it tends to be 6-12px wide? There's nothing particularly special about it other than drawing with a smaller brush size helps me keep my canvas roughly the size I like (since I alter it each drawing), and I'm not a big fan of line weight in general lol. I'm definitely not the kind of person who will swear by a special custom brush or specific settings, I've always been the kind of person who will just make art with whatever the fuck I'm given.
If I can be honest, a lot of the time I just wing it with colours and the background- so you don't see it but there's a lot of me trying to slap a bandaid on a leak I created by not planning ahead. Sometimes things go smoothly, other times it doesn't.. For the record, an artwork will turn out wayyy nicer when you have a complete idea of what it's meant to look like. Do not aim to emulate me 100% I am but a fool in the grand scheme of things.
ANYWAYS, you wanna know something fucked up that might make ppl look at my art differently? This is my process for the latest drawing I did. I took my sketch, I drew it over it digitally and inked it, THEN I overlayed the sketch because I liked how it messed with my colours-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I paint OVER the artwork, realised my sloppy colouring makes the bottom part stand out so I add a shadow trying to adjust for this, decided I needed the artwork to be 100x more vibrant so I upped the contrast a bajillion times..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then the rest was just shit i painted over:
Tumblr media
I didn't even have lineart for the angel dress.. Check out this freak shit:

Have fun guessing what part of my artwork is what now,,,

valentine's weird shading not-a-tutorial tutorial
let me preface this by saying that i am not very good at tutorials, hence the "not-a-tutorial" in the title. let me continue prefacing this by saying that tumblr's search function is still shit and ass, making me incapable of trying to find the post i wanted to and forcing my hand into making my own instead. if anyone has the link to the post i'm talking about feel free to send it to me or something. anyway let's get into it
so the one thing that helped improve my art's lighting and shading drastically is, instead of thinking shadows being additive, is to think of light being subtractive instead. again emphasis on the words "my art" so this might not work for you personally + this probably also only really works in a digital medium, but like. what do i mean by that?
enlisting the help of that one sketch of ghost/ray i drew once, i've slapped together a few pics that may or may not help make the point i'm trying to make clearer. i dunno, but either way you're gonna want to decide where your light source is coming from first before you start. ok let's go
Tumblr media
anyway, this is what i like to call "shadows being additive" or in layman's terms basically just drawing in your shadows by hand instead. this is probably how you've been taught to shade, and it works fine if you know what you're doing! however, since this pic of ghost just Standing There is pretty simple it makes shading this way relatively easy, but if your composition is more complex, you have a bunch of things blocking the light source, and/or you have weird perspective going on; then it might start getting pretty difficult. it sure as hell did for me in the past anyway
but. what if i told you. that there's a different way to approach shading
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now introducing: "light being subtractive" aka drawing in your lights instead. in the real world, objects are naturally shrouded in darkness until a light source is present. this fact is then reflected in this shading style by having you begin with a layer filled with your shadow color before erasing the areas where your light hits (then refining it later). this style probably works better the more your knowledge of how objects reside within a 3d space is, but either way i personally prefer this shading style bc of how the shadows feel more organic to me + it works fantastic for dramatic lighting as well
honestly your layer mode doesn't even need to be set to multiply either. in a visual novel i released a while ago under a time constraint i chose to shade my sprite using pure black set to normal mode because it was faster to me than actually having to worry about the colors that come with using a multiply layer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but uhhh yeah either way that's how i got good at shading i guess by changing the way i approached doing it in the first place. hopefully this helps someone out there. idk man i'm not a professional artist or anything i just do this stuff for fun

idk if anyone has asked this before but may i ask for some knight headcanons? specifically sword and blade,,?👀
YESSS I have been waiting for this ask! I have a lot of hcs about Sword and Blade that I'd love to share. GET READY FOR A LONG POST!
To start off, I have the post where I drew what I think they look like under their armor (I also birthed this cursed image).
First of all, and as much as I love them, I think Sword and Blade didn't get a big enough personality in the anime. If I were to describe them in my hcs, I think that Sword is generally the more chill one out of the two. He strikes me as the kind who is easy to hang out with, but he can be unexpectedly funny or stubborn at times. Sword is more gentle with the way he speaks, whilest Blade is bri'ish and has an ocassional potty mouth (says wanker and consistently gets away with it because no-one knows what it means). Because Blade has a harsher voice in the dub that somehow makes me want to make him the bolder one of the two. He's the one who's more likely to express himself. We gotta hear more of that hilarious voice afterall lol. In making his design I gave him his one eye that he has in the game sprites. I've really enjoyed drawing him very expressive so I decided to make him a creechur with big emotions.
I love thinking about how they interact with eachother. I see them as brothers. They've been through a lot, love eachother, but also get into shenanigens and bother each other sometimes.
Their relationship is both endearing and hilarious. Between the two of them, Blade is actually the older one -- I decided that because it's funnier if he's the eldest even though he's shorter. At this point they wouldn't know what to do with eachother. I think that they share a room next to Meta Knight's quarters, and that they have bunk beds. I actually have a sketch of their room that I want to finish someday soon.
As for their personal lives, it's important to me that characters have substance which makes them feel like real people, so when I make my own characters I always give them five things to help with that -- hobbies, desires, a favorite food and favorite drink, a birthday, and trivia (some little traits that have no real impact on the character in their story but still exist and are interesting). This is something I love doing and my autism always has me making lists/filling out self-made questionares for characters. I highly reccommend it, it's fun as Hell and a useful tool for writing character.
Sword:
He can play guitar and he likes music in general. Once I decided to give him antenna I thought it would be neat because bugs hear by picking up vibrations, so the vibrations of music are probably very pleasing. He also likes to watch sports because he has become quite athletic since training under Meta Knight.
He is happy with the state of his life but once he feels like the timing is right he wants to find a girlfriend. My man has been alone too long. Part of this is because he feels like he missed out on getting to experience relationships when he younger (due to the war). He'd like a girlfriend, but he's somehow embarrassed to talk about it and he worries how Blade would feel if he spent some of time with another person.
Sword likes comfort foods like macaroni and cheese. He enjoys the taste of ginger ale because it makes him think of the ginger beer they sold at home (whatever the kirby universe's equivilant to australia is lol)
His birthday is June 14th (I do have a system for how I pick chracter birthdays btw but I'm not willing to share it you just have to trust me)
For trivia, he likes cats, and he's allrgic to peanuts
Blade:
He likes to relax in his off-time and scientifically the best way to do this is by playing Animal Crossing, so I gave him an Animal Crossing town because I love Animal Crossing. It'd be funny if there was a game in the Kirby universe where you played as a cappy or something in a village of creatures like Rick, Kine, and Coo. He also likes to practice baking (he and sword said in the anime that they both always wanted to be cooks, but they were too afraid to tell this to meta knight. plus its fun for him to watch meta knight eat all the treats and still somehow try to deny he has a sweet tooth lol)
Blade, unfortunately, is British - which means that he, unfortunately, likes British food. He will eat beans on toast and make everyone around him uncomfortable. As for his favorite drink... peach nectar lol (bugs love sugarsugarsugar)
His birthday is March 9th (don't question meee)
For trivia, he likes dogs (its funny if he is a dog person while sword it a cat person). He's got just the one big eye so cats give him allergy. I also subscribed to the idea of him being trans because of the difference in his voice between the sub and the dub versions of the anime. Just this alone comes with its own set of hcs I won't get into here.
Lastly, I felt the need to dive into their history. Their backstory about being survivors of the war and having to resort to robbery to survive is so interestingly tragic and something I feel like people don't pay attention to enough when it comes to portraying them. They had to have homes and family and friends that they both lost before happening upon each-other and deciding that two is better than one when it comes to staying alive in the barren hellscape that they now roamed. I plan on making some art about this topic in the future so I'll leave out my hcs for now.

A look back on my old art (and other doodles on Twitter.) - December 2020
This marks the FIRST post of many I will make detailing my old work. I'm gonna start posting these weekly as to make it easy others AND for me. And what better way to start it off by the month I finally got a tablet. (and turnt 18 too I guess)
I was not a smart 18 year old, I some how barely survived the last 2 years of high school, and this and the next would become the worse it ever got. Yet I still persisted and somehow stay sane. Kinda. Keep that in mind for the bulk of 2021's art in the following weeks.
December 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see from the first image, I was using a mouse at the time (and a combination of mspaint and firealpaca) That will change soon enough. Also homestuck =:3
Original descriptions:
I saw this and I thought I can use this as an excuse to actuallly draw homestuck
have this nepeta doodle as well
December 6
Tumblr media
At the time I was really obsessed with making homestuck sprites of stuff (and I still kinda do) so I made this at a request of a friend at the time.
Original description:
@SpringingTraps made me draw metaware homestuck
December 8
Tumblr media
Why did I even included this post in here? Well I used to be SUPER inconsistent how I draw myself, so thought this would be a good start.
Original description:
i found that pettting gif website...
December 11
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll be honest, I wish I didn't post this back then. IDK it's kinda weird looking back on now.
Original Description:
It's #FlatFuckFriday AND my birthday??? Fuck yeah!!! 🥞
December 18
Tumblr media
I'll be honest. I have no idea how I did THIS with a mouse of all things. Like how did I do it. In MSPAINT no less. Also I have no idea why I drew myself like this here.
Original Description:
fucking around with faking line weight, so glad I don't have to do this shit when I get a tablet
December 20
Tumblr media
Oh look Cave Story, one my earliest obsessions. When this drawing came out, I already have long since moved on from it, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate it.
Original Description:
16 years of #CaveStory =:]
December 22
Tumblr media
Ah here we go, I finally got a drawing tablet. I got REALLY excited with the pen pressure that I kinda gone overboard with it, but it was nice to use one. (granted I forgot how to draw with a mouse now.) Oh yeah, if you notice a black line on the VERY top of some drawings, that was a bug with firealpaca. I kinda had to live with it for a while.
Original Description:
WOW HAVING PEN PRESURE MAKES A BIG DIFFFERENCE
Tumblr media
This was the first real piece I did after getting a tablet. I'm quite proud of it. The context behind this image is kinda funny really. A server I was in was doing a collab where we drew UCN portraits of our OCs or Sona, and I drew something for it. Yes UCN, Ultimate Custom Night. I was in my second FNAF phase at the time.
Original Description:
Let the static flow.
December 23
Tumblr media
At the time, I used to draw myself with sideburn thingies cause I thought it look cute, but I no longer do that. Also you might be noticing a large about drawing made in a short timeframe. Well I have an explanation for that. You see, I sometimes get hit by these bursts of productivity and I can draw super fast. Sometimes these bursts happen at random, but in this case it was because I gotten a new tablet and new ideas where flowing.
Original Description:
This was supposed to be a sketch...
Tumblr media
I HAVE LOT TO SAY ABOUT THIS. I was super obsessed with TGWeaver's FNAF comics. It was why I gotten back into FNAF around 2019. But I was fascinated with Toy Bonnie at the time, to the point I started drawing her on the daily. I started using her as an avatar for myself online. It was when I saw a post on tumblr where something made a kinsona when it clicked for me. This rabbit holds sooooo much gender. 🏳️‍⚧️ Thus ended 5 years of denial over my gender.
Original Description:
some weaver buns
December 24
Tumblr media
I tried drawing myself with my hair down here. I didn't like it then. I got better at drawing my hair down though. I was this file was named "cel test" for some reason.
Original Description:
It's me!
December 25
Tumblr media
Remember when I said I was inconsistent, here an example. I dislike how this turned out then, I STILL do now. The only thing I do like? This was when I started to shade in this particular way. Also at the time I was worried about being too slow, which is funny when I was posting so many things at once. But also the filename was "the crunch" which is less funny and more worrying.
Original Description:
I need to learn how to do this faster
December 28
Tumblr media
Oh look a Commission! There's nothing special to say about this.
Original Description:
Shaded commission for @Bunnydudee of Carmen from Animal Crossing!
December 29
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THAT'S RIGHT I DREW SONIC.EXE BEFORE IT WAS COOL. Jokes aside, this post was more so for Tails Doll. I loved drawing that little bugger in the most pathetic and dorky way possible.
Original Description:
Tails Doll's roommate is a wacknut
---
FINALLY we made it thru December. Goodness I posted alot more often back then huh. Kinda surprising. Anyways next week I'll post January!

cairo i am begging you to write reader and irnes babysitting anastasiy
reader has younger siblings (right?) so they’re probably good with children and irnes is essentially all the clones’ big brother so
idk i think it be really sweet if anastasiy told reader that ‘big brother is really happy when you’re around’ or something
Ask and ye shall receive!
(And I have not decided if reader has siblings or not, that's up to you guys! They do hang around the kids back home though, so they wrangle gremlins all the time.)
Tumblr media
Babysitting
With some turmoil going on overseas, Pantalone and Dottore have been called away to deal with a threat, leaving Irnes in charge of keeping the child alive. Which he's done before, it's easy enough!
Anastasiy is probably one of the most tame children ever fostered within the Fatui ranks. Quiet, always eats his vegetables, usually keeps to himself and is very agreeable to anything you ask of him (without reason, which Irnes does feel bad about). You find it a little peculiar, that he's not as rambunctious as the boys back home, especially given that the clones are straight up nutjobs and he's been around them so much. But he's cute, and when Irnes pulls you aside to come babysit with him... your superior officer can't exactly say no.
That's how you got here, sitting on the floor of the Regrator's office, the fire crackling merrily as Anastasiy sits across from you, doodling in a little notebook, one of the Doctor's journals open to a page on aranaras. You can't tell if he's copying from it or not until you notice the scribbles that are supposed to be handwriting. It's kind of cute, minus the fact that he's taking after the absolutely deranged Doctor, but hey- Irnes is also a byproduct of the deranged Doctor in question, so you can't really complain. In fact, when he hands you a sheet of paper and pushes some of his pencils over encouragingly, you're compelled to do your own drawing, glancing over at Irnes, who is currently occupying one of Pantalone's velvetine chairs, his cane propped up beside him and focus on the report that's piled in his lap, the pages close to falling over and scattering everywhere.
It's peaceful, and you can now say that you've been in the Regrator's office, which isn't an accomplishment you expected to claim.
You're fairly decent at drawing (at least that's what you tell yourself), so you decide to pick the most beautiful thing in the room to draw: Irnes. Today in particular, he's wearing an embroidered suit, which only adds to his charm, if you do say so yourself. Sketching him is easy enough- you don't have to worry about uneven or misshapen eyes, the mask more than covers it, and he's not moving around, capturing his wider shoulders and tapered waist the best you can. You even find yourself shading in the scars on his neck and cheek, trailing down his jaw and disappearing inside his collar. It's easy to get lost in such a rhythmic and relaxing activity, and you don't even realize Irnes is leaned over to look at your drawing until he chuckles, startling you out of your trance.
"You didn't tell me you were an artist, my dear."
"I'm not, really. It's a side hobby, at best."
"I must disagree! It's quite accurate, if I do say so myself... And a bit flattering, my dear."
"Flattering?"
"Surely you don't think I'm that attractive."
"...Irnes please."
"I'm joking, I'm joking, my dear!"
The rest of the afternoon is relatively quiet. Irnes eventually joins the two of you on the floor, claiming that his brain is leaking out of his ears (which gets a laugh from you), and lays down next to you, occasionally glancing over at you with the glee of a child seeing toys at the market. The child continues to draw, until he has a few pages of scribbles and aranaras (which are green blobs with hats, but it's too cute for you to laugh at), eventually putting it aside and instead wandering off to the bookshelf, pulling out his favorite book and flopping down next to Irnes.
It's weirdly relaxing, this domesticity.
"My dear, what's your opinion on hydraulics?"
"Sounds awfully pretentious."
"Exactly! Those Fontainians are obsessed with them, I will never understand the excitement around them. Electrical circuits are so much more effective when paired with high caliber pistons!"
"High caliber pistons, huh?"
"Well, backed by some well oiled motors, but yes! I'll have to show you sometime, my dear, it's rather mesmerizing to watch..."
Irnes continues to rant about Fontainian hydraulics, the child getting up again and instead coming to sit by you, still reading. He's still weirdly quiet, but Irnes is more than happy to fill the silence with an in depth explanation of how electrical circuits function, even scribbling a little diagram on a piece of paper nearby.
"Big brother really likes you."
"Hm?"
"Big brother talks about you a lot. He likes you lots."
"Does he?"
"Mhm!"
"Whatever are you two talking about over there?"
Irnes chuckled, noticing that you'd gotten distracted, not to mention that your face was a little pink.
"Nothing important- Keep talking!"
"Fine, fine! But I'll find out some day..."
Irnes is about to speak again when Anastasiy speaks up.
"You two should kiss."
...
Oh no.

hey fren, i started learning digital art and i was wondering if you could tell me what software you use and if youd have some tips or give me a general idea about the process. im self-taught and i have no idea what im doing lol, have a nice day!!
hii!! and sorry for getting back to you so late!
idk if i'm the best source for advice bc i also do not know what i'm doing for the most part, but i'll try my best! as for the software i use procreate on my ipad and i'm still so in love with it. it's really intuitive and great for anyone who's getting started with digital art. when it comes to the drawing process i'd probably say try to keep the bigger picture in mind bc it's really easy to get lost in details early on. that's why i like to zoom out really far in the early sketching stage so i can focus on the overall proportions and composition.
i hope this was somewhat helpful lmao but anyways i wish you all the best for your digital art journey!! <3

Hey I wanted to ask on how you deal with extrem motivation loss, especially for art. Sadly I am so bad at finishing anything and I mostly have just random sketches and scribbles :/
Mostly i either power through or i say "done" on my scribbles and make a new one. And then keep making scribbles and sketches untill i find something im happy with (that's usually way diffrent from what I set out to draw [but I also have aphantasia so I never truly have something specific i set out to draw so like im used to it] ) For basically every more polished drawing you see here on my Tumblr Ive got maybe 1-3 sketches and 2 erased scribbles i never did anything with. Sometimes i just colour a sketch im only mildly unhappy/happy with and post it like my recent c!Bedrock bros art.
The thing is you don't have to be dishearted about only making sketches if you keep doing it because then you get better and youll be able to make sketches youre more and more proud of. (art is also sometimes also about habbit-> the biggest advices Ive always gotten is to keep drawing everyday (even if it's just boxes or idk hair) that itll help you improve even if the motivation isn't there or youre in an artblock)
Currently im feeling alot of motivation loss myself, which is why Ive not posted as much as I usually do. Which is why I've resolved myself to just keep drawing things im unhappy with untill i get over it <- i brute force it a bit... 😓 Or in worst case ill look at old sketches and just finish something im not that happy about to just get drawing back into my hand.
Worst case you can do like i did in the past (which i still SHOULD DO because Ive been struggeling too sometimes) and draw legs in diffrent poses. Just legs. Legs. Legs. This sounds strange but the likelyhood of you starting your drawings with the head is high so you might actually find it easier to draw more starting from somewhere else on the body. (comon advice is the hips bc that's where everything else goes out from in both directions)
Sometimes it also helps using a diffrent medium or brush. The reason my art shifts sometimes is because sometimes I find a brush i find it easy to draw losely and creatively with <- it's a strange psykological trick like writers writing in casual or funky fonts because it's not as "formal" which lessens pressure.
Because pressure is the killer of motivation in my personal experience, not pressure in deadlines, but in perfroming to perfection. It's also why i draw for myself mostly and kick myself mentally in the face when I get to caught up in drawing things that will do good on Tumblr or twitter instead of what give me brainrot.
Visual of my brain when it's going really well, regardless of how good the drawings are->
Tumblr media
I hope any of this made any sense, i feel I rambled a bit all over the place so feel free to ask any questions. I don't have any profisional artist advice because Ive never had any art education outside a few videos on yt, so this is whatever i could think of right now.
ALSO REMEMBER TO USE REFRENCE OH GOD IM SO BAD AT THIS BUT YOU!!! YOU REMEMBER IT!! BE BETTER THAN ME!!! USE REFRENCE FOR POSES!!! FOR TEXTURE!!! FOR HAIR!!! FOR FACESS!!! FOR EVEYTHING IT ONLY IMPROVES YOUR ART!!!! AND ITS NOT CHEATING!!!

yayayay yippee (≧◡≦) i love how vibrant & lively your art is, i think my fav pieces are Horse Surgery & hanyuu (even tho i have no idea who that is) but that one wip with the rainbow is also v ery special 2me because it reminds me of my fav kind of weather ^_^ generic Which Program Do You Use question & also which programs have you tried so far? which one would you recommend for someone whose only experience so far wiht digital art has been scribbling in ms paint -_-? on topic, what do you draw with (mouse, phone, drawing tablet, ??) & was it easy for you to get used to digital art? i always get overwhelmed by the amound of different functions available so im not sure where to even start, any advice? which physical art forms do you like / would you like to learn (anything at all, i personally have been getting into air dry clay... well actually ive been using my sisters playdoh but maybe ill purchase smthn fancier :3) & final question how do you come up with poses to draw? your characters (+creatures) seem very animated and i really like that :)
HI okay i guess ill answer these in a list. actually will put it under the cut since i ended up saying a lot (and dw i enjoy being able to talk a lot so thank you!)
-THANK YOU im glad some of my more recent works (in my more current style) are appealing 2 people! like i wanna draw my own way even though i think it gets less notes... the higurashi fanarts (hanyuu and shion) r very memorable pieces to me because its when i started doing the loose sketches with the thin lines and block colors and thats the direction i reallyreally wanted to take my style in. also the rainbow is rian my friend rian
-i draw in paint tool sai! the only program i used before that was sketchbook pro, which i didnt like because the brushes were kind of... blurry/smudgy? sai allows you to zoom in and draw pixel by pixel which is something i like, and i like the way it does its blending. its also just easier for me to understand. i didnt pay for it i think i found some deviantart page that had the link, id have to find it again
-i draw with a wacom intuos tablet! its lasted me... almost 10 years now. ive heard newer ones are poorer quality in terms of at least the nibs needing to be replaced constantly, so idk what the most recommended tablet these days is. ive drawn with my mouse and tbh it caused awful hand pain so i would not recommend this. i draw on my phone with my finger sometimes but i find doing it on my laptop easier, however it is doable once you get used to it
-the way i got into digital art... well. i still have an archive of my earliest art if you wanna see! i was 14 n just drew random shit, often lining over doodles i did on paper and coloring them in. i think esp if youre overwhelmed start with making like throwaway experimental pieces, scribble around, doodle stupid things and color them in with different brushes and see what you enjoy. and then you can just keep the files to yourself if they dont look too good or maybe itll look interesting, it depends i guess haha. the other thing that ive always found helped me was telling myself id draw every day even if it was a little scribble or the tiniest amount of work on a wip bc getting a habit going helped my art a Lot beause it helped me spend more time thinking n focusing on it
more specific advice for sai that i found useful- using clipping groups & the preserve opacity functions are both lifesavers in terms of not spending so much time trying to color in the lines. if you color in a base layer you can just put everything above it as a clipping group and just not worry about it anymore. i also really like using the filters (like multiply) to mess around with the colors a drawing has, though sometimes its more effective to just select a layer/individual color and fuck with the hue/saturation/etc until it looks good. when i color, esp when its not turning out how i wanted to, i rely on shifting colors A LOT. n also mixing colors together using a blending brush and then colorpicking the intermediate color. very useful
-for the most part i stick to uncolored pencil doodles on like, notebook paper (even though i have some fancy supplies X[ one day) but i LOVE making things with clay, wish it was more accessible to do at home. i have a handful of clay animal statues and stuff that i made in my ceramics class in high school. would looove to do more
-because my poses tend to be very pushed/cartoony using references of real people isnt always useful (though obv knowing the basics of anatomy always helps) so in those cases ill use other cartoony art i like as inspiration, i try to see what i like about their poses nd emulate that with my own. sometimes when im struggling ill just do a bunch of studies where i copy art i like to try to get a feel for what im missing. mostly ive realized i like when the pose conveys some level of like, volume and taking up a 3D space (which im still definitely not a master of but bullshitting it can be fun). and i also like to have a balance of curved and angular shapes. sometimes i try to just do a pose that conveys a specific emotion or i just make shit up lol
alsooooo i cant reccomend aimless doodling enough! just random shapes, turning the random shapes into creatures, trying and trying and trying different ways to draw something until you like it, i feel like the things my hand makes when i shut my brain off and just scribble can inspire me as well, and i try to emulate whatever i made by chance while doodling. and if your doodles turn out better in traditional i tend to consider using a photo of a drawing as a way to skip the "preliminary sketch" phase nd drawing a rough sketch over that which i then use for my drawing (or just directly color since i draw very fast/lazy...)
