How do you think the archons would dress in our world?

Hell yeah this is fun to think about, I'll break my ideas down by Archon, but generally speaking none of them would deviate too heavily from their very obvious tastes, and you would have to give a decent amount of guidance in order to avoid any fashion disasters—

Venti:

• So he definitely sticks with the green color palette generally, that's a given, probably pairs it with some brown and other earthy tones

• I imagine he would dress in a way that both classifies as casual, but you could also get away with wearing it to a Renaissance fair, if you know what I mean (bring him to a Renaissance fair, I'm begging you, that could only go well)

• I'm thinking flowy clothes, or at least flowy shirts, and I feel like he would be really into patterns

• Nothing super crazy, but I almost feel like he would wear tie-dye ironically, like he's the type to look for the gaudiest most blinding piece of clothing and buy it instantly just for the shock factor

• (I hope you're ready for Christmas, because he's absolutely winning every tacky sweater competition)

• If he's attempting to be especially fancy then maybe a poet shirt, high waisted black pants/brown shorts with those straps that kind of look like suspenders and dress shoes, but that's mainly for performances

• Of course the braids are a must, but he would start experimenting with more hair clips with flowers on them and such

• Soon he'll have a hair accessory collection and you'll have the honor of styling it to your liking every day

• For beachwear he'd jump on Hawaiian shirts and swim shorts, would probably also make you get him one of those big floppy hats and he could put his Cecilia flower on it

• As for pajamas I imagine a rather basic t-shirt/tank top paired with general pajama pants/shorts, nothing fancy there

• Finally general accessories, for some reason I could see him wearing an ankle bracelet, along with clip on earrings of various kinds (specifically clip on), and I feel like he would find creative places to put the Cecilia he usually wears on his hat

• Like he might wear it as a bracelet one day, or as a brooch, or on the side of a belt where he used to put his fake vision, he would just want to incorporate that in all of his outfits

• I couldn't see rings but I could see a few non-metal bracelets, also I think a messenger styled bag just really suits him

Zhongli:

• You know that mid-thirty's male History/English teacher that you probably had a crush on at some point in high school?

• Yeah, that's how he dresses

• You might be able to discourage him from wearing full on suits everywhere, but collared shirts and dress pants are pretty much a given

• Never let it be said they don't look good on him, but he could pull anything off

• You might be able to get him to trade out the dress pants for a darker jeans, but the button up collared shirt is staying (tho on casual days you could convince him to unbutton a few of the top ones)

• Colors wise, it's pretty obvious that he would stick to the basic blacks, greys, and occasional golds on accent pieces

• If you beg him he might wear a floral print beach shirt and flip flops on beach days, I don't see him swimming heavily so sadly the shirt will probably stay on

• Now for pajamas, the funny answer is the striped pants and matching striped shirt combo, the more realistic answer is a black t-shirt and sweatpants (we can finally admire his arms thank god—)

• Accessories wise I could see a standard decent looking watch, obviously he's keeping the earring, and maybe a small necklace with something that reminds him of you that he keeps tucked under his shirt, along with a pretty killer belt he wears with every outfit

Ei:

• She was very happy to find that the general styles in Inazuma do still more or less exists in the form of traditional Japanese clothing, but you're gonna have to steer her off into something a bit more casual

• I feel like she would be surprisingly into more muted vintage clothing, and you would have the honor of introducing her to thrift stores

• Obviously sticks with purples and lavenders, which pair pretty well with both black and white

• If you can't tell, I have a thing for black pants, but I just really think they would pair so well with a lavender sweater

• She could pull off a blazer really well, just saying

• And I really think she would just default to corporate office style for anything formal, could be skirt or pants depending on the event

• I could also see her pulling off flannel pretty well, just in general, but she might need some convincing for that because I don't see her as a willing pattern person

• For beach clothes I think she would rely pretty heavily on what you would like to see her in, probably wouldn't want to do anything too revealing though (I personally want to see her in a very cute flowy purple sundress, but that's just me)

• Bikinis are probably pushing the limit unless you happen to be wearing one too, but one pieces would be fine

• Pajama wise I feel it's either a very expensive looking satin/silk long shirt and pant combo, or something a bit more basic, like a nightgown, but a pretty one with lace and stuff, gotta stay classy

• There's not a whole lot to expand on when it comes to accessories, I do feel like she's the most likely to wear brooches though, maybe has a collection of them

• Would probably also cycle through a variety of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings, just whatever fits with the current outfit, a very versatile accessorizer

• Though if you give her a particular accessory she's going to try to incorporate it in everything, naturally, any gift from you is precious

A/N: Hiii!🍃 Fic requests are closed rn (you can always read my pinned post if you're not sure they're open XD), BUT I do like the idea, so how about a silly drabble my bois, because we LOVE AND NEED lee!Venti in this house-

Ei sighed, slightly annoyed. Gathering some materials for the traveller is not a hard task at all. Well... it shouldn't have been hard. She and Zhongli were doing a pretty good job so far. Getting wood, looking for flowers and fruits all while chatting calmly.

“...Oh, I remember Lumine asking us to get some apples as well,” the Geo Archon stopped walking and looked up, reaching up to get the juicy red fruit from the nearest tree branch.

Raiden Shogun did not think that she would leave Tenshukaku so soon to start traveling. And she certainly did not think she's going to have to work in a team with the two former gods. Ah, yes, two...

“Gotcha again!~” Venti appeared behind Zhongli practically out of nowhere and quickly poked the taller man in the ribs, making him yelp uncharacteristically and swiftly put his arms back down to defend himself.

...Yeah, it's easy to forget that the Anemo Archon is here too, maybe because he's not doing anything useful (because sneaking up on your companions from behind and distracting them from business by tickling them randomly can hardly be considered something useful). Venti did that, like, 4 or 5 times to both of them already? It is indeed hard to understand what is going on inside his head.

“Barbatos-!” Zhongli turned around, his brows furrowed in annoyance, but the bard had already ran off again, giggling cheerily. Even the Lord of Geo was starting to lose his patience, wasn't he?

“Venti, if you aren't going to help, then stop following us and find something more interesting to do,” Ei said nonchalantly, watching the small birds sing and jump around nearby.

“But I am helping!” the bard crossed his arms on his chest, coming out from behind a tree, “Helping my dear friends to not let their guard down while we're in the forest. And also making you two smile!”

“...That is the most tiring journey I've had in a few recent decades,” Zhongli pinched the bridge of his nose hopelessly.

“Oh come ooon Morax!” the Anemo Archon laughed, patting the taller man on the shoulder, “Look, Ei doesn't seem to really mind! You know, it's not my fault that you're a grumpy, quiet, stoic and emotionless boulder around meEEEK!”

Suddenly, Venti was swiftly yet gently dragged forward and down to the grass. After what felt like a second, he found himself sitting in his companion's lap as Morax was sort of hugging him from behind, preventing the little Archon from escaping.

“Ei, would you like to help?” Zhongli asked, absolutely calm.

“I guess finally teaching him a lesson won't hurt,” the Electro Archon stepped closer, sitting down beside the two.

“No!” the bard squeaked, trying to wiggle free, but to no avail, “Nonono wait, you know I wasn't serious! M-Morax, I'm sorry!..”

He didn't think that they were going to hurt him or something, they certainly would never do this. But they can do something embarrassing, like trapping him in a geo structure and leaving him like this for a few hours. Something Old-Man-Zhongli-style. Not that the God of Anemo wanted to experience the methods they usually use against enemies.

But, in a situation like this, he didn't expect to feel unfamiliar fingers starting to wiggle (in the almost awkward movements) under his arms.

“Wha- waHAhaha wahahait!..” Venti didn't have the time to hold his surprised giggles in, “Whyyyyhehehe?!..”

“Simply giving you a taste of your own medicine. That would only be fair, don't you think?” Zhongli replied matter-of-factly, actually glad that the bard couldn't see his amused smile right now. He wasn't really the type to be playful or get someone back.

“Soho yohou thihink it was fuhun, ahafter ahahall!~” the Anemo Archon tried to tease through his squeaky giggles, squirming from side to side, his eyes shut and his nose scrunched up adorably.

“I didn't say that. But this means that you must be having tons of fun right now, Barbatos”, this wasn't meant to be a tease. Teasing others wasn't a “Zhongli thing” either, but Venti did feel his ears starting to get warmer after these words.

“Now that's going to be a problem...” Ei hummed thoughtfully, observing the bard's leather corset, “You've got some good defense there...”

She almost chuckled at his miserable attempt to let out a “sigh of relief” while laughing uncontrollably with the oldest Archon's fingers dancing over his highest ribs.

“...But you know that there is no clothing in this world that would be able to protect you from the lighting's wrath, right?~” the Shogun finished her sentence, smiling down at the little bard and making his eyes widen in horror.

“Nononohoho, dohohon't you dare!..” to Zhongli's surprise, Venti started squirming further into his lap to try and somehow save himself, probably, “Mohohorax, hehehelp!”

Now that was... well, not cute, that's definitely not the right word to describe this little mischievous gremlin.

“He can look pretty endearing, sometimes,” Zhongli commented, lowering his hands to squeeze at the troublemaker's hips playfully, seemingly feeling a lot less awkward than before.

Ei smirked, all while calmly positioning her fingers on different spots on Venti's tummy and using her Vision to send the tiny shocks of Electro element through his clothes, not even bothering to listen to his shrieky half-hearted protests.

“GuhuHUhuys, coHOHOhome ohOHOHOON!..” Venti squealed, kicking his legs out slightly at the horribly tickly sensations.

“Yes, Zhongli, I think I like him in this kind of state a lot more”.

Hey so I’ve been getting into Genshin impact a lot more recently and I’ve got some headcanon that I think might be either Kinda funny or just fun little headcanon cas so here we go! None of these are to dog on your interpretation of the character, so feel free to put your own HC in the comments cause I’d love to see them! Also this will be spoiler free! I’ll just be showing off player characters and trying my best not to use any spoilers as to where I’m at (the beginning of inazuma).

I will say however, spoiler alert for Persona 5 when I get to Tartaglia.

Alright first up we got…

The man, the myth, the legend!!! Kaeya!

One of my favorite characters in the game cause I absolutely love his personality, and not to mention his fighting ability!

Now hear me out here…

Trans femme Kaeya. (This totally isn’t me projecting at all /sarcasm)

The style, the suave, the ability to slice transphobia in half with a sword. Need I say more?

Next up we got probably my favorite character in the game…

Venti!

A lovely lil Bard who’s anemo lift ability has gotten me more Oculi than I’d like to admit. I remember when I was first getting into the game well after Venti’s first banner, I was so sad that I’d probably never get Venti ever, and when his banner came out, I went absolutely feral :))). He was my first Five star I got and I didn’t even need to spend that many wishes to get him!

Now onto Headcanon territory!

In my mind, Venti is the type of person who is like way too young to drink monster energy (I mean look at him, I’m pretty sure he’s supposed to be 15) but he drinks it anyways cause it helps to make his ADHD buzz. So anyone making a college/high school Genshin AU, Please do this for me🥺 /hj.

And onto our final character!

Childe/Tartaglia!

The absolute bicon (this isn’t my headcanon I’m gonna say but I do believe in this HC) of Sneznaya, Childe is probably the character I recognized there most when I first started because he’s the character my friends would talk the most about. Honestly, after meeting him in the story, totally get it.

So onto my final HC.

This is one I’ve heard is a bit of a popular one, but I’ll still say it cause I think it’s absolutely fair. I feel like Tartaglia is very much a Goro Akechi Persona 5 type of character! Their designs are very similar, and their personalities feel nearly identical. This isn’t a dig, because Akechi is actually my favorite Character in P5 so this is very much a compliment! It’s really nice seeing more characters like these two!

you step away, freeing your hand from his grasp. your voice broke, tears forming in the corners of your eyes. "i'm not... i'm not (y/n). i never will be. i'll never be so vulnerable again, i'll never be so naive again, i'll never be so lonely again, i will never ever be anything like they were again."

your vision blurred, but you werent oblivious to the tears streaming down his face as well. reaching to brush them away, you paused and let it drop to his shoulder instead.

"albedo. i... the (y/n) you knew... they're gone now. and if i could revert back to them any time, i would, i swear, but... i'm al-... they..." you buried your head in your hands. "i'm broken. to the point that i refuse to identify as the (y/n) you know me by."

doesnt know what to say, so he almost pulls you into a hug before you move out of the way. something you never did.

"don't... please. it never works out in the end." you shake your head, facing the other way. "for me at least."

"..we could work together, no?" he tried, still oblivious about your feelings towards him.

"only if you're willing to cross your moral boundaries," you looked back and tilted your head. taking a deep breath, you continued, "but you know that neither of us are willing to do that."

he couldn't say anything, because as much as he hated to admit something for once, you were right about that. at this point, he would've thought that literally any extent would've been fine to reach to bring you back.

yet in multiple situations where he's doubted himself before, theres always a line he will never cross.

"...i wish you the best. treat her well because i worked hard." you walked away without him stopping you this time. i worked hard. not we worked hard.

even if you had honestly felt that way, there was no chance the old you wouldve actually voiced that.

and so he watched you slip from his grasp again, only this time, he stopped himself from holding you back from his own will.

yet he swears- the next time he meets you again, he will bring you back.

F2P Yanfei Build Tips

I mentioned in a previous post that I really think pulling on the upcoming Zhongli banner is a great idea for newer players and especially f2p players that have been saving their primos/are nearing pity. This is in large part because the new character Yanfei is looking like a very good character to add to your roster if you lack a main carry or Pyro DPS character.

Pyro is by no means required in this game, but Mihoyo definitely favors it over the other elements. It has access to the two best reactions in the game, melt and vaporise, and can be used with electro for overload to break shields with ease. Dendro when Mihoyo?

Yanfei seems like a f2p player’s dream character, she’s basically a budget Klee. Plus, she’s adorable and has a unique back story akin to Ganyu’s! Unless you just don’t like her design for whatever reason, I highly recommend trying your luck to get her!

Here is a little f2p friendly guide to help you build her should you pull her ! :)

Talents and Ascension

Prioritize Yanfei’s normal attacks when building her talents. Most of her damage will come from Charged Attacks, so her damage will scale better by leveling up her autos first.

Her burst should be second priority since it has a higher damage multiplier. Her skill can be saved for last.

She will require a boss drop from Azhdaha, Bloodjade Branch. Azhdaha is the new weekly boss being introduced in 1.5. Be sure to challenge him once a week!

Other items you will need to ascend her as a character are Agnius Agate, Primordial Jade, Noctilucous Jade, and Treasure Hoarder Insignias!

Weapon

If Yanfei is as much like Klee as she sounds, then the Widsith will likely be her BiS 4 star weapon. Obviously, if you have a 5 star catalyst then use that! If you don’t have either of these, don’t fret! The Mappa Mare is a craftable weapon and is a great choice!

Mappa Mare scales with Elemental Mastery, which is fantastic for a character that relies on reactions to do damage. It’s passive is also useful, granting a 10% elemental damage bonus when an elemental reaction is triggered. This effect can stack twice and scales higher with refinement.

Other great weapons if you have them on hand are the Blackcliff Agate and Solar Pearl. These weapons are great because they provide additional crit dmg and crit rate respectively. Blackcliff can be purchased in the shop with star glitter while the Solar Pearl is a BP exclusive weapon.

Artifacts

*If you are not AR45+* I do not recommend wasting your resin on artifacts. Wait until you’re world level 7 and challenge Lv 90 domains to get guaranteed 5 star artifact drops.*

I’ll also use Klee again for inspiration here. The ideal artifact set for Yanfei would likely be Wanderers Troupe 4pc set. WT is very hard to farm though so Crimson Witch or Lava Walker sets would be good alternatives. In terms of priority I’d say it’s WT > WT/CW > CW > LW but it really just depends on the quality of the artifacts.

For main stats your timepiece should be Atk% unless you have very low Elemental Mastery. If you’re using Mappa Mare and have at least a 2pc Wanderers Troupe set then I’d go with Atk% as a main stat. I’d also use Atk% if you plan on pairing her with Sucrose, since she provides free EM to her teammates. If you are not using Mappa Mare or you don’t have good rolls for EM on your artifacts than shoot for EM as the main stat. So, Atk > EM unless your EM is <100ish.

The cup should 100% be Pyro Dmg Bonus. If you don’t have a single Pyro cup you can run atk% until you do get a Pyro cup.

The circlet should be Crit rate or Crit Dmg, depending which one gets you closer to the ideal 1:2 crit ratio. If your crit rate is <50% I’d say go with Crit Rate over Crit Dmg for more consistency. If you have >50% crit rate then prioritize Crit Dmg.

Sub stats should be prioritized as: Crit rate = Crit Dmg > atk% > elemental mastery > energy recharge > flat Atk and pray you don’t get too many Def or HP rolls.

Team Comp

Yanfei will preform best in a quick swap reaction based team. She will have the best synergy with Hydro, Cryo, Anemo and other Pyro characters. And wouldn’t you know it? Diona will be given away for free in 1.5!

Diona is a fantastic support character, and especially to Yanfei for several reasons:

Cryo application for Melt procs. Diona can apply Cryo with her skill as well as her Burst.

Diona has one of the better shields in the game. As a charged attacker, Yanfei will benefit from the interruption resistance that a shield provides. Diona’s shield scales with HP, so it’s relatively easy to build. It also provides a movement speed increase which is pretty cool and can cleanse other elements off of you to remove unwanted debuffs.

Her burst heals while dealing Cryo damage. This synergizes great with Yanfei. If you happen to have her at max constellation, Diona provides a hefty elemental mastery buff to her teammates inside the AoE of her burst too!

Diona can make use of multiple artifact sets. The new Millieth set looks fantastic for her on paper. She can also utilize the 4pc Maiden Beloved set or pair it with Scholar/Exile. If you lack a Energy Recharge weapon such as Sacrificial Bow or Favonius Warbow, then a simple 2pc Scholar/2pc Exile will work exceptionally well on her. Stack HP% on her timepiece, cup, and circlet to get the most out of her healing and shield.

There are several other characters you could pair with Yanfei and Diona to get a solid team comp. It ultimately comes down to which characters you have in your roster, but for the sake of this build we’ll rely on free characters that everyone has access to.

For the third slot of this team comp, an Anemo character that can utilize Viridescent Venerer artifact set would be great for shredding Pyro resistance for Yanfei. Don’t have Venti, Sucrose, or Jean? Don’t worry, Anemo MC works great as a VV support thanks to their ability to reliably swirl! They also have a fair amount of crowd control and can reach c6 very easily.

For the last slot in this specific team I recommend Bennett if you have him, but if you don’t have him, Xiangling works great! Either way we will be using this slot as a burst support/nuke. I choose these two characters because they are Pyro, which gives the team Pyro resonance, increasing party Atk by 25%! I also chose them because they can both utilize 4pc Noblesse Oblige artifact set. The idea is to use their burst to increase the overall damage of the team. Again, Bennett is perfect for this role but I’ll focus on Xiangling since she’s free to everyone.

Yanfei + Diona + Traveler + Xiangling is a team that will use quick swap play style. Quickswap is a form of play that relies on swapping characters in and out more frequently for higher combined damage, as opposed to Sustained play style where one character is dealing most of the damage. This team can be used in a 4 step rotation:

1.) Start with Xiangling and use her skill or burst to apply Pyro to enemies/activate the NO boost.

2.) Once Pyro is applied, swap to the Traveler and use their skill to swirl Pyro against enemies. This will activate VV 4pc boost, which shreds swirled enemy’s resistance to Pyro by 60%

3.) Swap to Diona and apply Cryo with her skill or Ult.

4.) Finally, Swap Yanfei in and use her charged attacks/burst to proc melts and do big pp damage.

Other 4 ⭐️ characters that can be used with Yanfei include Bennett, Barbara, Chongyun, Sucrose, Xingqiu, Xinyan, Rosaria, and Kaeya. Shoot for Pyro resonance for that sweet Atk buff. Hydro or Cryo for vape and melt procs (Xingqiu is fantastic for this if you have him) and a VV user for resistance shredding (unless you have Zhongli as his shield will shred resistance for you!)

Yanfei can also be used with Electro characters like Fischl for niche shield breaking. Keep in mind that Overload does push enemies back and often requires you to sprint to keep up with them. Charged attackers like Yanfei do not like to sprint too much.

Geo resonance is also a solid choice for her if you have Zhongli, Albedo, or both. If you lack these 5 ⭐️ characters I’d use her in the standard Pyro + Anemo + Hydro/Cryo comp because she doesn’t really have the greatest synergy with other geo characters.

TLDR:

Yanfei is a Pyro DPS character very similar to Klee. She can make use of the 4⭐️ craftable weapon, Mappa Mare; use Wanderer’s Troupe, Crimson Witch or Lavawalker artifact sets with Atk/EM timepiece, Pyro Bonus goblet, and Crit circlet. She ascends with Noctilucous Jade and Primordial Jade, and her talents level up with Bloodjade Branch from new weekly boss Azhdaha. She pairs well with quick swap teams that focus on vaporise and melt elemental reactions!

I hope some people find this helpful! Again, I think Yanfei has really good potential and would make a great addition to your team if you’re looking for another main carry. If you’re new or f2p she’s a great alternative to characters like Diluc and Klee for both overworld and Abyss. Zhongli is also a very good character to have so you really can’t go wrong pulling on this rate up.

kaeya doesn’t like being alone. it’s not something he shows openly- it’s something he keeps deep down, along with most of his honest thoughts and feelings. but it’s as true as the sky is blue; he’s always seeking company, whether it be from his fellow knighst or from less than savory fellows at the bar. but now it’s not enough; loneliness goes from “being alone” to “not having his beloved around

“you’re leaving already?” kaeya’s smooth voice makes the traveler stop in the doorway to angel’s share. it’s late at night, but not so late as to worry about the bar closing; in fact, it seems mondstadt’s night life is just waking. the traveler doesn’t stick around at bars often, not being one for alcohol, and frankly, there’s no reason why kaeya should want them to stay. he’s got work to do, as evident by the table of probable bandits he’s been chatting up all night; and yet for a second he seems genuinely displeased the traveler is leaving. it’s only for a second, though, and quickly his teasing tone is back as he chuckles and waves his hand. “well, well, at least let me walk you to your inn. you are staying in the city, aren’t you?”

he should be relieved that stormterror- or dvalin, as he should call the dragon- no longer threatens the city, but he can’t. sure, the traveler hasn’t left yet, but he’s heard them talk to venti, talk to others about how they’re supposed to head to liyue soon, to try and speak to rex lapis. it’s mean of him, but it makes him roll his eyes. do they truly think they can just waltz in and get an audience with a god? they got lucky here- to just run into barbatos, that “venti” is as kind and aloof as he is, but there’s no reason rex lapis should be like that... right?

he plants seeds of doubt smoothly, carefully. loose comments about how ancient and important morax is, about how many people crowd around him during the rite of descension, that it’d surely be hard to speak to the god as an outsider. 

he said he’d called them over to his office for a small mission, but it seems he’s more interested in small talk. paimon refused to come over, still hurt about kaeya tricking them once before with his fake quest for some random sword and treasure; but the traveler is still there, dutily attending the cavalry captain’s request. to be fair, he is seemingly briefing them on a mission- something minor about some slimes in springvale- but he’s also awfully chatty. and somehow the topic falls onto the traveler’s twin; it’s hard to miss the glint in kaeya’s eye when he speaks. “i have to admire your dedication. why, me? i wouldn’t be putting in so much effort into chasing for someone who, for all i know, was probably killed by- an all-powerful goddess, you said?”

tearing the traveler down just to be there for them “on their lowest” is scummy, sure, but it works. he has a way with words, a way to bring up the outlander’s wounds to surface, to shatter their heart with his words and then have the gall to rub their back and hold them in his arms when they cry, gently consoling them in ways that don’t really help. oh, are they worried their twin might be dead, gone forever? now, now, no need to cry- they’ll always have a family here in mondstadt. they’ll always have him.

if he were anyone else, the traveler might have just gotten mad at him. but he’s kaeya; shady, up-to-no-good kaeya. of course he can twist his words and actions just perfectly, to make his horrible actions not that noticeable and yet so painful, to make his fake kindness and manipulation appear genuine to the lonely traveler

stacking up tasks and missions on the traveler’s back, packing on emotional baggage and doubt, making the traveler about as afraid of being alone as he is. after all, the traveler has always been with their twin; they’d been using the faith of finding their missing sibling as fuel to keep going, but with the idea that perhaps said sibling is gone planted in their head it’s hard for them to not seek out comfort in kaeya’s presence, with how he dotes on them

paimon is of little help. the little creature might have been the traveler’s closest friend, but the lack of adventuring seems to make the little woman less clingy. in fact, she’s more often than not hanging out with amber or bothering venti- it’s clear she doesn’t know how to deal with the traveler’s sudden depression, choosing to steer clear while “the problem sorts itself out”, not knowing that leaving them alone is just giving kaeya more openings to present himself as the only comfort for them

it’s almost pitiful how he’s trained them, he thinks. they come to him willingly, like a pet seeking its master. even though they end up crying most of the time, due to his own words, they still come to him knowing he’ll kiss their tears away, play with their hair and rub circles into their back as they hiccup and sob. they still talk about leaving sometimes- stressing over missing the rite of descension in liyue- but he knows they don’t have it in them to take on the journey, not as they are. dependant on him. 

it’s so easy to be mean once he knows he’s got the poor traveller hooked. to make them doubt their own fighting, their own skills, making them believe their only real use is to run menial tasks for the knights. oh, don’t they know mostly everyone thinks they’re clumsy and useless? but not him, no, no. it’s so easy to make himself the center of their world once he’s completely destroyed it and re-built it for his own purpose

and even then, if the traveler insists on going to liyue- if even after all this work, they still try to leave, then he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. he doesn’t need to play fair; he just needs to win, right? the fact that the roads from mondstadt to liyue are well-traveled and the hubbub of the rite of descension keep people distracted. nobody will notice one less traveler walking down the roads.

it’s truly as easy as letting the traveler drink more than their share on the night of their “departure”. letting them say goodbye to everyone, promising to return soon. and then just hitting them hard on the back of the head as they walk out of their inn. paimon isn’t a big deal; he doesn’t particularly adore having to dispose of such a helpless creature, but it’s also not difficult to just freeze and toss into the lake surrounding the city as he carries his darling back home, only for them to awaken confused and with a chain around their ankle

“are you angry, perhaps?” he doesn’t sound like a kidnapper, but that’s what he is. or at least at the moment- surely, his dear little traveler will settle down soon enough. “i’d say this is for your own good, but i won’t lie to you, dear. i just had to do this. you were going to leave me.” his voice drops at this- it’s as if the words themselves hurt him. to think they’d leave. he watches with delight the scared look in his beloved’s eyes, how they nervously tug at the chains and ask if this is all a joke. it isn’t, of course. this is just how things have to be. he’s happy to keep telling them that looking for the seven archons is useless; do they really think their sibling is alive? after being attacked by a goddess? didn’t they themselves barely survive months on the beach just because they found some weird fairy thing?

in the end, kaeya values his comfort over his darling’s. this- everything- is his desperate attempts to keep them from leaving. and so what if it ends with a terrified and horribly depressed traveler locked in his house? they’re scared of him, but they also can’t help but crave his comfort, memories of him soothing them and wiping away their tears still resonating with “comfort and warmth” in their mind. and that’s all he wants, really- to hold them, to be the only person in their mind. it’s ok if they break a little in the process, it’s ok, as long as they don’t leave

idol au anon inspired me to send some of my own hcs so here we go~

Xiao is definitely a producer imo! I don’t see him as someone who would want to be up and performing, however he’s probably very popular and sought after in the industry. I think he’d be signed with one of the biggest companies and probably work with really famous groups.

Scara is a soloist (maybe he was in a group but split from them) and has probably had his fair share of scandals in his career due to his attitude and general personality, but I also believe he has his way of getting out of it, mostly because it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t give a damn about what the media thinks. He believes that they should focus on his music (which is top tier btw) rather than him as a person. He doesn’t use this as an excuse to be horrible, though, and I can definitely see him as being the type to take situations on by himself rather than letting the company deal with it. He probably also defends fans and other idols if needed (like if they’re swarmed by an aggressive crowd or being attacked online) and has definitely called out sasaengs on multiple occasions. Another hc is that he takes great pride in producing his own music and concepts so he gets as little help as possible.

Tbh i don’t really see Zhongli being an idol, but he could be the leader of a group. He’d probably be the lead vocalist if that was the case. Otherwise, he could be a manager or even the CEO of a company. Maybe the one Xiao works for?

Childe is DEFINITELY an idol in a group. Often in the center, he’d probably be a vocalist as well and/or main dancer. He’s really popular as well as he interacts with fans all the time and always knows how to create the right mood for whichever song they’re performing. He’s just got the natural charisma for it. I also see him as being an actor on the side. However, he’s also one of the idols where a lot of fans believe that he puts on an front a lot.

I’ve seen a few modern au concepts where Xiao is a gamer or a twitch streamer. But as an idol I definitely agree with what you wrote. There’s no way he’d get up on a stage and perform in front of so many people. But he does have talent! I think he’d compose a lot of instrumentals for popular bands and groups. He’s probably done some solo work in the past, such as releasing music that captures his edgy aesthetic. If you’ve heard Takayan’s music and lyrics, that might be a genre he typically enjoys. Maybe even the aesthetic that Corpse Husband’s music has.

Scaramouche would definitely love working alone with little to no help at all! He tends to get a lot of fans because of his appearance and music style. Some even fall for his personality, too. But he’s mainly focused on putting out music that he enjoys making. He doesn’t care about the public’s opinion of him, but he does care about his fans. Scaramouche is often very vocal of his disapproval of stans or creepy sasaengs, saying that they can enjoy his music and his personality as an artist but he draws the line when they tweet strange things at him or try to find personal information about him.

I think Scaramouche also puts out some edgy music, too! But it’s nowhere near as edgy or solemn as Xiao’s music. He strikes me as the type who likes to play around with instrumentals a lot and will sometimes release an instrumental he likes, as he doesn’t want to ruin it with lyrics. His lyrics tend to be very meaningful when you look beyond the ‘teenage angst’ and pity parties; and as a result of that his fans like to find the hidden meanings in his lyrics (and occasionally in his PVs if he ends up doing one to go along with a song).

Zhongli is like the emergency member who’ll provide sounds or a few quick chords if the group is having trouble thinking. But I see him as being a manager for one of those idol groups; maybe he often works alongside Xiao, who tends to be put in charge as a spare manager in case one of the idols gets into a scandal. Sometimes Xiao will watch them as a bodyguard (or just moral support) to make sure they don’t stir up more trouble. Looking at Venti ahem.

Speaking of Venti, he is definitely an idol. Either he works with a group or he does it solo. His music genre is usually light and airy, always happy and sweet. Although if you strain to hear specific chord progressions you’ll find that the melody is often on the verge of becoming melancholic. His lyrics are also oddly sentimental, too, and that causes his fans to get emotional when he sings certain songs over a happy beat. Due to the fact that Venti likes to drink, he often gets caught by tabloids and fans when he tries to be sneaky. This leads to a strict scolding from his manager and he usually winds up in Xiao’s company as a result. The two of them seem like strangers at first, due to Xiao’s inability to socialize, but eventually they bond over their mutual love of music.

Childe does have the makings of a perfect idol: attractive face and body, confidence and charisma, and the brightest smile the world’s ever seen. He knows he’s got all of these assets and he uses them to their fullest potential. If he wasn’t an actor, I could see him as a model for specific clothing lines or other brands. Sometimes you’ll see him promote the newest luxury brand and sometimes he’ll be promoting something as simple as toothpaste. Either way, his fans eat it up every time. As a result of his outgoing personality and openness with his fans, he tends to get a lot of stalkers. He’s had to move many times because of this and has even had to stay overnight at his company’s studio because of the sasaengs.

Also, if Childe were an actor on the side I feel like he’d do a lot of comedy skits (think of SNL). I can see him replying to fans on his social media pages and he’s even followed some fan sites because he loves to see them keep up with facts and information about him. He might even correct them if there’s an error, just to avoid any misunderstandings between fans. He’s also the type of idol who doesn’t shy away from the camera, even if it’s sudden. You’ll never catch him off guard because he’s always ready to smile and pose for the paparazzi. Along with this, Childe always welcomes his fans to approach him in public if they recognize him. He loves to take selfies and give out hugs to his fans. If you bring a pen and a sheet of paper, he’ll even sign it for you!

listening to covey’s new abllbm, class of cardinal sins, and rating the songs as I go along to my personal liking:

1. Cut on the Crease: I love this songgg, it was the first one for the album to come out and I’ve loved it since then! 10/10

2. 1991: A hard hitter, that’s for sure. Like ConC (that’s a fun acronym) it’s been out for a little bit, but mannn it slaps. this whole bit?

bam, see what I’m saying when I say hard hitter? A solid 9/10 from me

3. Why am I Alive?: It was pretty good, I don’t feel like it was as unique as the prior two. Look, I love anything Covey puts out so it’s not bad, but it just doesn’t reanimate with me rn, could change as I listen to it more through! but for now? I don’t know maybe a 5.5/10

4. Four Dollar Sandwich: haven’t even listened to the song yet but I love the name, I also like that it’s the fourth one I’m listening to. (I’ve listening to it now) well damn,,, I think I just got called out by a song called four dollar sandwich. solid 8/10 cause I like the lyrics, still not as hard of a hitter through, these have been more tame and more of covey’s “normal” style I’d say. Also I forgot to say this has a lot of reference to the lore!

5. Sam Jam: Sam Jam is a very tangy, venty song that I, as someone who doesn’t have an older sibling that can be put into the place of covey, or any younger siblings where I myself can be in his place, can’t relate to much until the chorus comes around,,, I mean come on, I think we all have someone we want to scream “FUCK THAT GUY I HOPE HES DEAAAD” to! a very fun song in that light. I’d say 7/10

6. Point Mutation: This one came out maybe two days ago now but I’ve really just been waiting for the rest of the album to come out to really listen to it. It’s pretty good, more like 1991 and CotC than Why am I Alive or Four Dollar Sandwhich which I do like more, but it’s a little repetitive for me, I think the chorus is done one or two more times that perhaps normal, but still alright. I’d say 6/10

7. Crooked Spine: I wasn’t expecting to like this, i’ll admit, but I do! I do, I do, I do! It’s funky, it’s fresh, I like the intro a lot and I like the characters introduces! Solid 7/10

8. Local Anesthetic: ooooh! It’s fun, it’s funky, it’s fresh! It gives me emo glass animals vibes if that makes sense, like I feel like if you put it to a more pop-like beat and a little higher, you might just get something like a glass animals song. I really enjoyed this one, it starts off kinda like the rest but about a minuet in it does a turn around and made itself more unique and memorable. 9/10 from me

9. Sound of a Gun: another one I enjoyed! I really like the lyrics with this one, I think there is a lot of good visual imagery in this one which I always like. Good song! 9/10

10. Marzipan Pills: ouch! but you know, it was a good song to end it on. I definitely likes this, between the lyrics and the instrumental in the background. the guitar brings me back to CotC which was great and the lyrics are heavy hitters. I’d say a fair 8.5/10

14. What’s your coffee order?

I have two basic orders (from Starbucks sorry Timmies you did me dirty too many times I don’t trust you anymore) so I’ll give you both. If I want a cold coffee I get a simple Venti Caramel iced coffee with only 2 pumps of caramel syrup because otherwise it’s too sweet. If I want hot coffee, I usually do a black Venti blonde americano with no sugar.

(But if i’m treating myself I’ll get a caramel macchiato because sometimes sugary coffee is nice)

Oh boy. Okay umm. First I have to pick a favourite which is hard enough to do 😂😂 Okay, Harry Styles. King. I have looked up to him since the beginning of One Direction, yes I did have a 1D phase, yes I still love them, no I am not ashamed. I have absolutely LOVED watching Harry become the person he is today!!! He’s opened up so much and become comfortable with himself and sharing who he is with his fans and I think it’s incredibly admirable. I love what he stands for and how big of a heart he has. He is a role model to me. I love him so much.

Home means so many things to me! Home is where I feel safe. Home is people, not just a place (but it can be). Home is my cat sitting on my lap with my dog beside me. I think I would describe my aesthetic as soft? I have a lot of body image issues so I tend to try and drown myself in clothes. I love cardigans, massive sweaters, scarves!! I love scarves!! Winter is always my favourite season because it means I can layer, plus it also means rosy cheeks and we all know my weakness for rosy cheeks. I tend to stick to a softer colour palette (but I still wear a fair amount of black), and I love skirts and dresses. So yeah, I would say my aesthetic is soft! I’m an INFJ-T, 5'4, demisexual girl. When I first meet people, I’m very withdrawn, and tend to be shy. I’m not the type of person that would start a conversation, even when we’re considered friends. (But I will if it’s someone truly close to me.) However, this is not true for work related things, if it’s work, I’m very serious and have no problem talking. Although, if I’m trying to make some sort of decision (even minor ones) or am trying to figure something out, then I’ll have an extremely bad stutter and will have great difficulty forming sentences. 

Among my peers, I’m known for being very polite and having a rather proper way of speech. But also for speaking very softly, so people sometimes can’t hear me. Oftentimes, I don’t actually speak, and when possible, I tend to nod or use other gestures. Unless one of my hyperfixations is mentioned, because then, I’ll be talking a mile a minute. It doesn’t really matter who I’m talking to, I’ll light up like a light bulb and become VERY expressive. Whenever I smile, my face flushes uncontrollably. (But I don’t become SUPER red.) 

Once I know people well, I’m actually extremely affectionate. I love hugging, handholding, and physical affection in general. Whenever I see someone I care about, I always give them a hug. Also, I love writing letters and poetry, and writing in general. But for people I love, I keep a notebook that I write letters and poetry for them every night. Once it’s full, I’ll give it to them. I’m really a romantic at heart. Also, I give out words of affirmation on a practically daily basis, and make a point of saying good morning and good night every day. I can be a bit of a mom friend, but often, I am the child. I’ll be pretty chaotic and although, I won’t become reckless. Amidst my chaos, which usually includes pranks, insane ideas and a ton of energy, I’ll still be very cautious and thoughtful. 

My interests are generally towards creative things, I love writing. There’s something amazing about how people can elicit emotions from others using words. My writing is often rather depressing though, but I can do well with other tones as well. I also enjoy drawing, I always feel a swell of emotion and pride once I’ve created something I’m happy with. Though I often scrap drawings that I’m not so happy with. I also play violin and dizi, and carry a deep affection for music. It’s something that makes me truly happy. Cooking and baking are also things I love, simply because I love other people’s expressions when they try what I make. I also love to dance, and exercise a lot. Still, I overuse my body often, and so cannot use my left wrist and have many other less impactful overuse (and other) injuries. Also, I have loose joints, so my bones often pop out of their sockets at random times. 

I’m pretty uncomfortable with being flirted with, and want the person I love to be my close friend before my lover. The thing I find most important in a relationship is companionship and trust. I hate being controlled and don’t do well with pressure. I want to be free, but I’m also very loyal, I won’t ever betray the people I love. They are what is most important to me, romantic or platonic.

I realized something today after I got all the cute businessy clothes.

And this might get a little venty so yeah. Fair warning.

I kinda realized I've always really liked that slightly formal look. That cute businessy style that makes you look official but also can be modified to show you're ready to party fairly easily? I used to have a lot of clothes in that style. Blouses, skirts, etc. were all mixed in with my formal dresses and cocktail dresses.

But then, when I got together with B, things kinda changed. I was talking about how I needed more clothes because alot of mine were getting too small and how shopping for clothes was a pain, and he made a comment and said he thought my wardrobe was too formal, and that he liked it best when I wore like nerdy shirts and jeans. And I liked that too, so that became my wardrobe. As I out-grew all my cute blouses and layered outfits they were replaced mostly with T-shirts and the occasional dressy blouse at Christmas or something (because it’s always good to have a couple ya know?) But every once in a while we'd be going out or something would happen and I'd wanna look cute. But I didn't HAVE that cute, slightly dressy style clothes anymore because they just all got fazed out as I got new clothes. I couldn’t dress up anymore without looking like I was off to Sunday School, a formal event, or a Cocktail party, and I was left feeling slightly inadequate in my jeans and shirt and learned not to care but still.

It’s just as much my fault as it is B’s for alot of the odd stigma things I still have. Little things you don’t even think about until they’re relevant turn into big things when you suddenly have to buy four different blouses to make up for the ones you should have had all along instead of changing what you did subconsiously to please some manchild. So I guess my point is I'm REALLY glad for the opportunity to get that style back! I CANNOT WAIT to start this new job. I really think it’s going to be the icing on the cake that is my life turning around.

Top 5 books

In no particular order other than the first one;

1. The Great Gatsby

I think it was mostly my American Lit teacher who made me love this book so much (he was lit, bum bum ching). He didn’t just stick to reading the book and asking dumb questions or playing an audiotape and expecting us to shut up while we listened to it, he made us take notes on shit (I still have the old binder from that class, fucking six years ago hot damn) he explained certain things that have lost their meaning in the eighty-plus years the book’s been out, went deeper into the book’s characters and the timeline so I walked out of class after reading the last page with a deeper appreciation of it than I probably would otherwise. On top of that it’s just a damn good book. Choosing to have a sort of side character be the focal point gets you immersed in the mystery surrounding Gatsby, the deconstruction of the Roarin’ 20s and the callous behavior of the elite is still applicable to this day, there’s a lot to dissect and to love about it. I make it a point to try and reread it every year (don’t always succeed but I try).

2. The Graveyard Book

I have nothing but bare bones knowledge on the original ‘Jungle Book’ (enough to know the differences between it and the Disney version are numerous enough to fill another book) but that didn’t stop me from loving the shit out of this book-sized tribute to it. Just the idea of a kid being raised by ghosts in a graveyard is interesting enough, Neil Gaiman went the extra mile by including all sorts of other shit like ghouls as the bandaar log, a werewolf as Baloo, a vampire as Bagheera, an ancient spirit-thingy as Kaa, a serial killer as Shere Khan it’s great. He puts his own twist on the general idea of ‘Jungle Book’ (and also more or less adapting the core strength of the original stories while leaving out the iffy colonialism parts of Kipling’s work) and on typical, gothic tropes involving these creatures and you get to see this kid gradually age with each new chapter which is a trope I can’t seem to get enough of. Not for nothing but my mom actually asked if she could read a snippet of it which made her read it which made my sisters read it so all four us (sans our dad but he ain’t the reading sort usually) got into it. The power of a freaking excellent book for ya.

3. Watchmen

Is it cheating to include this? It was Time’s best 100 novels or whatever so I’ma say no. And why wouldn’t you? It’s a perfect deconstruction on superheroes and American politics and the American Dream in general, all packaged with some beautiful artwork and excellent dialogue and prose from good ol’ Rasputin himself. The symmetry of the book at times, how certain panels reflect each other either on the same page or multiple pages or spreads, also made this one of the best looking comics I’ve ever read and I don’t normally read comics, to be fair, but after reading this and seeing how far you can take the medium, maybe I’m just spoiled with how most other comics don’t go that extra mile. This is pretty much required reading in my book (haha), whether you’re a comic or superhero person or not. There’s a lot more it has to offer than just your average comic book/superhero flair.

4. Good Omens

There’s too many great books in Discworld to think of just one (and I’ve only read ten of them but even then there’s good pickings there (’Moving Pictures’ and ‘Wyrd Sisters’ might be two of my favorites so far)) so I’m going with the other Terry Pratchett book I’ve read co-written by Gaiman. I read this at pretty much the right time I think, I was still pretty obsessed with ‘The Omen’ and into those apocalypse themed stories dealing with the Antichrist and the Four Horseman and all that, plus it was some time after reading ‘The Graveyard Book’ while I was still in my Gaiman kick, so it pretty much was prime pickings for a book like this (and it eventually led to me reading Discworld, so double bonus). It’s amazing how well these two authors’ styles mesh together cuz I had to find out later who wrote which parts and who thought up what. The characters are all memorable and great takes on angels, demons, and the Four Horsemen (it was also my first taste of Discworld’s Death who is always excellent) and it’s just a funny book from cover to cover. I haven’t read it in a while but I should pick it up again (and get around to that BBC Radio adaptation they did finally).

5. Why We Broke Up

Never have I related more to a story I have no personal experience in than this one. A long, venty, break up letter from one teenage girl to her dickish ex-boyfriend and a long character study on them both and why the relationship failed. The main character feels more like me than any other character I’ve seen or read (movie buff, aspiring director for most of her life, generally awkward with a strange sense of humor) and even if you know the relationship ain’t gonna last you still sucked up in it and you wind up caring for both of them, almost borrowing the main character’s rose-tinted goggles through her ex’s shitty behavior and mannerisms. Nothing about the book, entirely written in first person, ever gave away that this was being written by a full grown man in his forties, it felt natural, it felt like what a teenage girl would write as she processes all this grief and anger and regret and that’s inspiring, it makes you want to write something like this that can speak to so many people regardless of their own dating experience or age or whatever.

  I procrastinated for so long before finally getting to this. I have been back from China for 3 days now and editing the pictures brings back great memories but I’m glad to be home! 🙂

Day 1    Our flight was scheduled at 8am which means we had to reach the airport at 6am for our group check-in. I took a GrabHitch at 5.30am, struggling to hold a conversation with the driver as I battle the Z-monster. All I could think about was “STARBUCKS SOY LATTE”. That morning I had also packed oats, bananas and cacao powder in an Adam’s Peanut Butter Jar. Little did I know, it was the last “healthy”/ “(purely) Vegan” meal I was going to have for the next 5 days. The warm oats with a tinge of chocolatey goodness mixed with the gooey leftover peanut butter that sticks to the roof of your mouth when you take a big bite made my morning so much better.

As a team, we checked-in our luggages and had time to kill. We settled at BurgerKing where some had their breakfast while Tin and I tried our luck on the Starbucks Goodie Grab. Tin, Bu and I shared a 2 for 1 promotion! We absentmindedly went for the Venti sized drinks which was a bad idea knowing that we had to board the plane in less than 15 minutes.. Our morning brain has not registered the fact till we arrived at the boarding gate with a Venti drink in hand, gulping down as much caffeine as we can. (Not a good idea, my stomach felt funny for the whole plane ride)

My very first (vegetarian) airplane meal was BeeHoon with Tofu and some vegetables. It was really delicious but the venti coffee was still sitting uncomfortably in my stomach. I also soon realised that I forgot to pack a book to entertain myself during the flight (3 hour 50 minutes) and I did not pre-download my Spotify playlist which meant I had ZERO songs to listen to. I alternated between sneakily playing iPhone games (they did not allow mobile phones to be switched on) and sleeping. I also played a few rounds of Big Two with Tin, Shan and Jing. My plane buddies, Bu and Yingjie (which will soon become my roomies for the next 4 nights) entertained me from time to time but we mostly slept.

Arriving at GuangZhou airport, we had to take a bus for an hour to reach Jinan University where we were greeted at the on-campus hotel by our exchange friends and teacher-in-charge(s).

They blessed us with packet lunches which caught us by surprise because we each had 2 boxes (1 box of rice and 1 box of dishes). I on the other hand had 1 box of white rice topped with tomato and cabbage). The mountain of rice they provided was definitely a shocker to fellow Singaporeans.

Within an hour of resting and having lunch in our room, Yingjie wanted to leave the room to dispose of our lunch boxes but instead broke the door which left us in fits of laughter which echoed down the corridors. We tried to fix the door but to no avail. (We even thought of buying superglue/duct tape)

We then had a tour around their campus where we first visited the library which was huge and very spacious! The library was very technologically advance and the lady (I suppose she was a teacher) introduced us to the different rooms in the library but my command of mandarin left my interest in the hotel room. Next, we visited an on-campus history exhibit of Jinan University and surprisingly they were once located in Shanghai! (Semi Shanghainese pride because of Feng) It was only after 3 relocation that Jinan University is where it is today which I find so amazing!

They allowed us time to go back to our rooms to put our bags down but we decided that since our door broke, we would just wait on the rest. We then left for the Welcome Dinner. I cannot describe in words how generous the Chinese are! We had an almost 20 course dinner which consisted of prawns, chicken, mutton, coconut-chicken soup, and an abalone EACH. Obviously I had little to eat there but I was so filled with the delicious long grain brown rice with pumpkin, sweet potato and yam dish.

After dinner, we were able to visit the on-campus supermarket which sold SO MANY THINGS. Fruits were so cheap and there were so many interesting food items but I settled for a bunch of bananas and a 4.5 litre bottle of water.

Day 2   This day started early because we had training from 9am-11am. It was definitely too early to function.. They provided us with an indoor court which they painstakingly measured and stuck red tape on the floor to demarcate the court lines which they would then remove after our trainings. I am immensely grateful for their hospitality!!!

After training, with the lack of time, we had lunch in their campus canteen. I honestly, should be more grateful in the aspect of food, in no way am I complaining because some people do not even have the choice/opportunity to eat. BUT, well.. to the best of my ability I have tried so hard to stay Vegan. In China, it’s pretty much crazy to socialise and eat. They tell me the dish is fully-vegetarian BUT heck I ate minced meat and dried prawns which I then tried so hard to separate from the dish but probably failed… :’-( O WELL.

We then took went back to the sports hall for a friendly match between us and Jinan University Girls Team. I was still pretty disappointed with my performance.. it’s something about volleyball that I can no longer get. I just don’t know.

BUT HECK, DINNER WAS AWESOME. Since I was on a roll and had to “close-one-eye” for every meal.. we had Mala Xiang Guo. One picks ingredients and it gets weighed then stir-fried with Chinese spices according to the spice level. Tin and I shared a bowl and it was THE BEST THING EVER.

Day 3  Training on this day was cancelled and we went for Dimsum instead. Another round of crazy eating and battling with sneaky meat. After which, Tin, Van and I spent quite a while in the arcade shop next to the Dimsum place. We raced cars, shot hoops and spent a fair bit of our time in the Mini K cubicle where 2 people put on earphones and can sing along karaoke style to the song of their choice.

We then had to walk 1.1km to a nearby mall which we found only when we “gave up” and wanted to cab back and settle for Starbucks but the Starbucks was connected to the mall we were looking for. It was not a mistake. We found our teammates in Miniso and…..

Miniso was our go-to. We bought probably 90% of all their We Bare Bears merchandises and they were so worth it! We shopped till we forgot about the time and had to cab back to the sports hall where we collected our shoebags and boarded the chartered bus to another University for a friendly match.

For dinner this day, we had it at a restaurant called “Grandma’s Place”. Another meat battle which was lost. Initially, some of us intended to have Mala for supper but soon scraped the idea because every meal in China left us feeling SO FULL. We slowly made our way back to Jinan University and called it a night.

Day 4   REST AND RECREATION DAY. Van, Tin, Bu, Yingjie and I had breakfast at the same Dimsum place which was amazeballlls. (I grew numb to the sneaky meat..) We had so much to eat!

We then left to look for the rest. At the mall that they were in, there was Abercombie & Fitch but I stupidly forgot my associate card :’-( SOBBBS.

Taking the public train down to BeiJing Lu was a feat. If you ever think boarding the train in Singapore is difficult, think again. If you ever think that Bishan Platform is crowded during peak hours, THINK AGAIN. It was crazyyyyy and people were literally RUNNING to grab the next train so that they could board. Nonetheless, we managed and with no regrets because I had the best drink ever. I ordered a coconut milk with red bean after checking with the lady that no dairy was used.

We travelled by train to a massage parlour where Jia Le and I shared a room. it was her first time getting a massage. She was asking me how it was going to be like and I told her that usually the same gendered masseuse would be available but at that moment… 2 males came in. Shrugging it off thinking that every other pair had male masseuses as well, we laid down and had our massages amidst awkward conversations held in bad mandarin. it was only after did we realised that we were the only pair with males…. LUL

Their hospitality and generosity has definitely overcame all language barriers. They were amazing throughout that 5 days, trying their hardest to accommodate my diet (I was a burden, yes, whoops). I’m super grateful and I hope I’ll get to see y’all soon!!

And the eight of us that ate so much our stomachs ached, thank you for the trip because the 5 days were amazingly filled with so much goodness and love from everyone of you. We bonded and possibly will continue fighting in upcoming competitions together? 😉

Jinan Volleyball Exchange Trip I procrastinated for so long before finally getting to this. I have been back from China for 3 days now and editing the pictures brings back great memories but I'm glad to be home!
