Setting Up Audre 5.2

Today we’re back at the PI Strip on 10 Pleasant Boulevard to take a look at the last retail shop that I fully renovated in @one-plumbob’s custom world, Pleasant Isle. As I mentioned in the first post for this lot, one-plumbob had 10 Pleasant Boulevard set up as the world’s elixir shop. The areas currently reserved for the unfinished housewares store, and the Audre African Arts Gallery were just shells. The only area that was furnished was the section of the building featured in this post.

This building I now call Sun and Sea Pharmacy, because the sign I used had those images on it, lol. While the structure was a multi story community space, I either cut access to the basement, or completely deleted it. I can’t remember with certainty which I did.

The front of the building pretty much remains the same; two entrances with yellow benches sat out between them. The changes I did make were mostly cosmetic. I moved the neon sign that was once above the gallery entrance onto the pharmacy’s outer front windows. I added some welcome mats in front of each entrance, although I totally forgot to recolor them. I also decorated the window panes with custom medical posters that I want to say came from @aroundthesims, but may be from another creator. 

If anyone wants to verify/correct me on this, just comment and I’ll update the post.

The original lot used a nice wood pattern inside that I decided to add to all the shelving. I also used it for the register/prescription drug section of the pharmacy. That being, the columns, the half walls, counters, etc.

I think I might have lightened the white of the windows, switching it from wood to a custom miscellaneous white. I also changed the color of the paint above the wall panel, but the floor is the same as the original.

Unlike some of my other games, where I have a sim dedicated to making potions, Audre isn’t meant to be played in rounds that allow me to make sure all my sims are contributing to world upkeep. Additionally, while @anitmb’s merchant mod sales potions fine, I think it can’t clone them, so I wouldn’t be able to load a sim’s inventory from potions made in another game and resale them using the clone option.

So there are no potions. Instead, the pharmacy carries all the custom soaps, bubble bath, and bath bombs (which I think are rubber ducks) by Sandy, @mspoodle1, and @phoebejaysims​ (I might be missing someone here, lol).

Sun And Sea also carries the shower in a can and mosquito spray bottles that came with World Adventures, and probably one or two custom recolors of those items most likely made by one of the already mentioned creators.

Of course, using the merchant mod means being able to sale the custom personal care and house cleaning items on display. So there will be plenty of other items on sale here.

Several months back I introduced a friend to TS3 by loading up this save and showing off my renos. They’ve heard me talk about the sims, and watched a few minutes of Let’s Plays, but this was there first time really getting a look around in one of my games. This friend lives in the area that Pleasant Isle takes it’s inspiration from. They complemented both Sunflower Fresh Market (the most popular reno from this series), and Sun and Sea Pharmacy. 

I guess these shops look the most like the places they visit on the daily.

Well, that’s it for now. Once I’m able to complete another reno for this world I’ll post more. Hope you all enjoyed theses posts and are having fun simming in your own games.

Dream Home Decorator: Gameplay Preview

Peacy playing the game? What is this sorcery!?

I do play the game, not in the traditional and ‘expected’ way, but I do play. With TS3 I bought Ambitions solely for the interior design career, so this was right up my ally. To say I have actually played this career a lot and not done every job type yet should say a lot. 

The career is a gig format that you choose what client to work with from a panel in the job section. Be sure to know the names of the sims in your world, because you have no other clues as to who they are or where they live. You start out with “room renovation” which is dealers choice. Is it open plan? Gotta do it all. Anything you delete will get added to the total amount you can spend, so that is not too much of an issue and i didn’t go over budget on any of my gigs (yet). 

You do need to get to know your clients which job-specific interactions. The best likes/dislikes to get are decor and colour preferences, and these you can convince them to give you other options for. Get “dislikes science” then you can’t seem to reroll that for something more helpful at all. Which sucks and i really hate. When you get the max amount of likes/dislikes for a job and they are all dislikes, it makes the project very challenging to complete. They don’t like it? You may get them returning and you can try again and hopefully get a better reroll. 

I had 1 failed project, and went back to fix it when they came back for it. Luckily they liked it more the second time around. My reputation was intact and can keep my “keen eye for design” badge now. 

I have yet to try room addition and level addition jobs as I didn’t want to cheat my progress so I really can’t comment on the higher level jobs. But you get the basic room renovation, a specific room, level reno, room addition, and level addition. A nice variety of job types and challenges associated with getting a good result. You are also not limited to residential lots, and commercial lots do pop up. 

There is also a reveal portion to the gig, where you can show off your renovation to the clients. I did this a few times, and the new animations added for your sims waiting for the outcome of the job are cute. But after a while the extra step was annoying for me as i wanted to try more jobs, so luckily there is an option not to throw a reveal and you can get the results instantly. Just up my alley. 

There is also a new home decorator network and I highly recommend you watching it for the 2 shows. They are hilarious. Apparently my work was going to be featured on one of the shows, but missed the time slot when it was happening. So i am going to have to see if my save point is before so i can catch it. 

Overall i think this pack delivers on what it sets out, but if you are looking for more then what it is then you will be disappointed. The new likes/dislikes system is nice and will definitely be adding them to my sims in the future, and i do love the idea of making over the horrid Maxis homes for those poor sims. So this is right up my alley, if it doesn’t appeal to everyone. And I am OK with that. If a pack tried to appeal to every unique playstyle in the community, it wouldn’t achieve anything. Not your cup of tea? Skip it or pick it up on sale for the buymode items (I think it’s worth the pack just for those, like Vampires was for the build/buy content). It wont be for everyone and that is ok in my book, because how often do the builders get a pack right up their alley? Not in recent memory from my recollection.

Reminiscing about The Sims

Share how you discovered the Sims franchise & the very first sims game you played (e.g ts2)

Christmas 2003 or 5, I believe? I really suck at chronology. My dad hands me that big box which was the Sims Deluxe. Came with the editor and I was right into a Charmed phase, unaware of all the cc (I don’t even think we had internet at home back then lol)

You can trust I had remade all the show's cast and happily gave Prue an alternative life ^^

For those who've long known me, this is also the time my mind birthed Katie and put her into the game (she was inspired by Rose McGowan, because I have like never not used rl actors to illustrate my OCs)

had a lot of fun with that game but really it used to creep me out (especially the random night calls... brrr)

Then when I hit 13 I had this... person around my age I barely knew who had me playing ts2 for the 1st time. I remember being utterly amazed by all the possibilities and (i didnt even know what it was then) choice you had!! Yup, she just used cc but I thought, 'omg these aesthetics are just STUNNING'

Thats around when I knew I would give my soul up to get a copy from that game

Fortunately enough I didnt get to get there, patiently waited my 16th birthday (all that time spent to avidly watching sims machinimas, hoping I could make some one day) to buy myself that long awaited game.

Couldve had it earlier, maybe, but we didnt have any computer that would have let the game run (i almost killed one with a cracked copy once, got yelled at so loud I never did again lol). By 16 I just bought myself à laptop (which I only chose because it could run ts2)

This was an achievement. From that moment on, I never really quitted... Quite always have used the game for storytelling purposes though. it is only recently that I tried my hand at actually playing the game and actually liked it.

Should I tell you about ts3? I feel like it.

I got my copy of ts2 (tears and blood to get there really) around the time ts3 went out, 2010. I felt so frustrated that I never got whats best (typical tantrum girl) that I decided I hated ts3 for no particular reason. That boy in my class who was the rich kid (and quite into me) used to tease me with it all the time (in a attempt to get my attention and only harvesting a profound irritation)

For some reason it made me love ts2 even more. It was enough. It took me quite a long time to figure it out. I was enough, and so was that old game no one seemed to care about anymore.

Then, my cousin happened to get herself a copy of ts3 which she lent me!! I kinda miss that. It was just the basegame, 0 extensions and it was. Just. So. Smooth

Let me tell you all that hate faded away right away hehe. Twas my first real gameplay experience besides ts1. And then... mods and so on and Posemaker later.. it became my most hated and favourite tool for storytelling.

Straight As An Arrow - Functional Archery 

That’s right, it’s here! Finally! Let your sim show off their dexterity(mechanical skill) with Functional Archery! With both a variety of bows and targets sims can work on that mechanical skill to gain fabulous prizes by eventually being able to compete in tournaments! Or they can just watch from the sidelines.Not to mention correcting that mistake of leaving archery out of TS2.

I want to give a special shout out to @nixedsims (NixNivis) for helping me with this project from the very beginning. This station was my (Frac) ambition and Sunni wasn't confident at the time with complex accessory use so she gave me encouragement and a blessing to seek out help. That brought me to Nix who at the time had done the TSM training dummies with varying swords...so I went seeking for help from her and she agreed with much excitement!

We went through many changes, had to rebuild things a few times, and all the while handle the various things real life was throwing at us which meant we had to take a few breaks. It wasn't easy, we were discouraged sometimes...but we did it Nix! Our baby is here! You'll always have my thanks and gratitude for your helping and not letting me give up on this dream. 

I wanted to start the year with a positive note...this is that note. Happy New Year’s Everyone!

Practice Archery When a sim has a mechanical (dexterity) skill level of 3 or higher, they may being practicing archery. New archers take more time to line up their shots and also miss more of their shots than seasoned archers, so Sims will gradually become speedier and more accurate at their shots as their skill grows. During a practice shoot, Sims will take a total of 3 shots that are randomized. This action builds mechanical skill. Sims may also practice archery autonomously. Shoot For Tournament When a sim has a mechanical (dexterity) skill level of 7 or higher, they may begin competing in tournaments and even may win a prize if they’re lucky. During a tournament shoot, Sims will take a total of 5 shots that are randomized. Depending on their success of shots they can get 1 of 4 outcomes: 1. They play well and are given a positive message. 2. They play poorly and are given a negative message. 3. They manage to make a Bullseye on shot four. This will win a sim a Coin purse prize. 4. They manage to make a Split on shot five. This will win a sim a Golden Arrow trophy. The first two are merely flavor text and at times do not correlated directly to the positions on the board or the amount of hit/misses they make; they will only trigger if a Sim does not get a Bullseye or a Split. Watch Tournament When a tournament is happening, Sims will autonomously gather around to watch the competition. They will randomly boo/cheer until tournament is over. This action has no effect on relationships and is not correlated to how well a Sim is doing.

Targets All targets function the same. Most target subsets are repositoried to the Wall Hanging Target while controlling their own stand recolor. The Dummy, Hay Bales, Log Slab, TS3 Archer's Gauntlet, and TS1 Range are all standalone.

Prizes Both the Coin Purse and Golden Arrow will appreciate in value over time if left out on a shelf/display.

Inventory Tools Each Inventory Tool Bow has two states; laying down and standing up. This is purely aesthetic, and all can be shifted up/down. There are seven choice;  1. Long Bow, 2. Elegant Carved Bow, 3. Fantasy Compound Bow, 4. Fancy Recurve Bow, 5. Simple Bow, 6. Bound Twigs Bow, 7. Wilderness Bow. If a sim does not have a tool bow in their inventory, they will defaultly use the Rental Bow.

Vendor To obtain a bow, currently only a vendor offers them as an import option until the local bower/fletcher comes into town. A bit pricier than normal, but not too much. Otherwise all bows can be obtained from the Collection File for their normal prices and will be available from later stations.

Wait, Tom from 15 Days was abused by his dad? I did not kno that! I knew the dad was a jerk for cheating and being a general dick to his son, but actually beating him? Can't blame Tom for shooting him. Does someone mention it or is it like one of those shown in a flashback scene, because that would be hard to watch if that's the case. BTW, love your writings, it's really making me intrigued by Freddy's characters especially Tom.

Well, I have to admit that I didn't watch the whole show myself actually, I spent like 6 hours with hunting for just Tom's scenes from there, I'm sure I missed some but I don't really have the energy to fight with my desktop much longer than that*. But I just got that picture?

In addition to his dad being a dick at him, Tom is being kinda scary while drunk, beating that cow to death, trying to rape that girl (Josh's girlfriend whose name I have forgotten) in E3. His behavior just also tells me that the relationship with his dad might have had more to it than "just" mental abuse as such actions often are the result of bad parenting, or then there has been something else in his childhood. Tom doesn't feel like a psychopath/sociopath/a person with antisocial personality, so it's likely that something has made him that way while growing up, he copes with gambling and drinking. + There's that one scene where his dad lifts Tom against the wall by his collar which isn't normal for a parent to treat their child, even when Tom was provoking his dad. Again, tells a lot about his dad's temper, how he deals with being annoyed/angry and how was he in Tom's childhood tbh. Also, Tom's mum seems to be scared of his dad, Tom gets angry at her when she promised to confront his father about something (I forgot about what) and then she couldn't bring herself to say it.

*I wanted to watch the whole show myself but my desktop is a dick, it won't let me watch any videos properly, the player freezes completely every 2-5 minutes and then I close the player and move onto next clip, it loads it for like a minute before letting me to continue... sucks especially when I wanna check my newest video edit before uploading it to Youtube, it just won't cooperate. I've tried different media players too but nope, they all have the same problem.

It's weird because this works like a dream otherwise, games run well, even The Sims 3 has never once crashed and has lagged only for like 3-5 seconds a few times an hour, even when I've played for 5+ hours a few times??? (For people who are unaware, TS3 is known for it's constant crashing and lagging even with the most powerful, modern setups)

I upload my own videos to Youtube as hidden videos or such because of that just so I can watch them, but uploading 15 Days would get me a copyright strike. I downloaded the episodes from the internet because you can't watch them anywhere in Finland.

22, 19, + 18 sims 2 questions 😏

22. A funny story connected to the game you can share.

This isn't really that funny in retrospect but I thought it was HILARIOUS back when I played it and kept telling my mom about it (I was maybe 12 at the time and this was one of my first families). Okay so I made a single mom with a toddler and of course she needed a job. So I made her hire a nanny to take care of her little girl while she was at work. The first 2 days went pretty smoothy, except that the kid was smelly and kept crying because the nanny didn't really give a shit about it and only kept it alive but whatever, at least it didn't die. Around the third time the mom left, the nanny made food for herself, however she loved to watch tv (guess why the baby always had bad hygiene and fun needs). So she left the stove on and watched tv, and of course the stove caught fire and soon it was burning. The nanny ran to the kitchen and panicked in front of the stove for a few hours and the only controllable sim was the baby, who was stuck inside the bed so I couldn't do anything. After a few hours of freaking out the nanny went back to watch tv as if nothing happened while the kitchen continued to burn. After another few hours she went back to the kitchen and panicked AGAIN, but this time everything in there was on fire. So she died in there and the kid kept screaming for another few hours until the mom came home and estinguished the fire :/

18. What do you dislike about this part of franchise?

I think CAS is lacking, especially in comparison to later games. The sims don't really look that special but then again it's a huge improvement from ts1 :/ I also really liked the open world feature from ts3, I don't miss it that much in 2 but man. i did love that a lot. Also what really annoys me about the memory system is that all sorts of random shit goes in there... i dont care if they saw roaches or met random townies on community lots -_-

TS4 Werewolves - Rant Alert

I got this one comment that sent me off on a whole tangent, so I decided to reply to it separately.

Dang Murf, that's very impressive! Really makes me wish Sims 4 had werewolves. I'll definitely try porting the Skyrim model to TS4 if they ever add them.                    

Y’all know TS4 is my trigger -- wtF is EA even doing over there? That Tiny Living Stuff Pack was a JOKE, like....seriously? o_O For as much money as they’re swindling y’all for TS4, EA’s Sims team is creatively BANKRUPT. ZERO innovation, intuition or inspiration.

EA just takes popular concepts/crazes like the Tiny House Movement, Baby Yoda, and Harry Potter, and waters it down to the barest of minimums: tiny homes with huge AF Murphy beds instead of bunk beds or convertible futons/sofa-beds; a decorative Baby Yoda you can’t even interact with; no school of magic sims can go to (and no magic for kids YET). I’m so tired of them!

People keep comparing RoM to TS1′s Makin Magic, and I keep going WHERE? I said in my initial trailer reaction for RoM that it made zero frikkin sense for the RoM magic land to have that perma-nighttime full moon, without even bothering to have werewolves in the so-called realm of magic.

RoM would’ve been the PERFECT chance to add werewolves. What better way to have a magical pack than to also introduce werewolves as the local denizens of Glimmerbrook’s forests. Missed opportunity, EA. (－‸ლ) 

They could’ve added a werewolf household living in the woods, that your sim either befriends or gets bitten by, so your sim goes to the Magical Realm to either find a cure for lycanthropy (for the werewolves or for THEMSELVES if they’re bitten and are gonna turn in a couple days), or wolfsbane poisoning if one of the wolves is made sick by the brand new harvestable Wolfsbane *cough cough!* (Wolfsbane comes in the Vampires GP, but they could‘ve totally made more types of Wild Wolfsbane, Yellow Aconite, Purple Monkshood, etc.).

Either one would give your sim a REAL impetus and incentive to go learn magic and talk to the RoM residents and mess with potions & alchermy. Which is another reason I said (I’ve BEEN saying) I wanted HEDGE WITCHES, who could do HERBOLOGY. U_U

The RoM Game Pack NEEDED to be its own Expansion -- it wasn’t a realm at all; it was a Diagon Alley ripoff and everybody knew it. HELLO, EA! Part of worldbuilding is creating a EFFING STORY that gives your game a FRIKKIN PURPOSE. EA didn’t go the distance at all; they did the mere basics of adding magic to TS4, with a lot of style but not much substance. But ironically they did the same with the mermaids, which did get their own EP, and everyone agrees that TS4′s Island Living was worse than TS3′s Island Paradise, so wtf. (－‸ლ) 

But I doubt werewolves would get their own Game Pack like the Vampires & Spellcasters -- EA would do Faeries/Elves before wolves, I suspect, cuz faeries are in a sense easier. Wings, mushrooms & flowers, glittery magic, LOTR-esque art nouveau inspired furniture, etc -- everyone knows the standard faery.

But if TS4 werewolves got a pack all to themselves it would force EA to effing give a crap about lycan culture & lore, and the complexities of things like pack dynamics (alphas, betas, omegas, etc), moon cycles, transformations, lupine physiology & locomotion; diet & hunting (adding new flora & fauna), etc.

While heavy in gameplay expansion, with werewolf-specific abilities, interactions & animations, what other stuff could you stuff into a werewolf stuff pack? Y'all saw how in TS3 the Supernatural EP didn’t give wolves a single bloody thing other than their CAS stuff -- for build/buy mode wolves got ZILCH. We didn’t get busted furniture or shattered windows or blood splatters or more fur patterns -- NOTHING. Everything in build/buy mode was for witches & faeries--all wolves could do was tear the crap up with their claws.

And even their CAS stuff was lackluster - no hairy skins, makeup or tails, but we got body hair & face sliders, claws, fangs, etc.

I like TS1's werewolf design from Makin Magic the most, since their heads/skins looked like wolves.

TS2′s was the biggest downgrade in terms of the LOOK of werewolves, in that it was just a skin.

If EA does do wolves for TS4, I’d hope they make it so the werewolves look like effing WOLVES. At least let them turn into animals, like the ones in TS2 PETS. (WHY TF was TS2 the only time Sims had ACTUAL magical pets!? >_< TS3 has dogs! TS4 has dogs! DO IT ALREADY.)

Considering the cartoony PG13 angle EA insists on keeping TS4, I don’t imagine they’d EVER make wolves look like @camkitty2​’s amazing werewolf mod at MTS:

And certainly not the scary Skyrim werewolves that I converted.

Or even the ones from EA’s other property, Dragon Age (which are effing ugly, IMO).

(The ugly anthropomorphic bipedal version, btw, not the more wolf-like version.)

TBH, If TS4 did werewolves at all I BET YOU MONOPOLY MONEY the template EA’d use would be a lot like Bigby Wolf’s design from the Wolf Among Us video game:

Bigby goes through 4 phases, from man to gradually being an actual wolf in his 4th phase/Final Form. His 3rd phase has a face that not really wolf-like so much as Jekyll/Hyde; beastly enough that you pretty much know Oh that’s a werewolf they’re doing, without it actually looking like any animal.

It’s big and scary with muscles & claws & hair, but cartoony enough that it’s not drastically different from a regular sim. EA’s wack enough to pull something like that, rather than going the extra mile to give us the kind of Skyrim-esque werewolves many simmers want.

Or the full-shift magical WOLF that I personally want.

Don’t get me wrong; Bigby has a great design for Wolf Among Us, made by AA developers Telltale (who do The Walking Dead video games). But Electronic fArts is a AAA developer, with billion dollar budgets, massive teams & bookoo resources. But by god EA’s the laziest AAA company around; just the kind of twats to do AA level work with AAA finances, as we’ve seen in TS4 and TS3.

Bigby’s 2nd phase is basically what TS3 did for werewolves, with the scrunched up brow/nose, pointed ears, hairier face, etc.

This kind of werewolf design is fine, but it leaves A LOT to be desired, especially if it’s the only form you see in certain werewolf franchises. It reminds me too much of how Teen Wolf makes werewolves -- basically as hairier vampires from Buffy (which makes sense). But come on EA, go the distance; go FULL WOLF SHIFT or go home.

In Eastern Europe werewolves ARE vampires/witches -- they’re connected to nature magic, druids & wicca, neopaganism, etc: magic runes & symbols, stones & metals, scyring, bonfire festivals (having Celtic holidays would be so cool!), enchanted woods & nemetons & ley lines, the effect of moonlight on water #TuckEverlasting style, shamanistic sacred animal totemic power and such. Tap into that tribalistic Slavic, Norse & Celtic lore on werewolves, EA, you effing COWards!

In TS1′s Makin Magic and TS3′s Supernatural, witches and werewolves came in the same pack, and had gameplay elements tied to each other -- in TS1 it’s the Beauty & the Beast charm that magical sims can use, and in TS3 werewolves can be used as witches’ assistants to Gather harvestables/collectables used in alchemy potions. So for TS4, having werewolves in RoM would’ve made SO MUCH sense. Hell, they could’ve fit into the Vampire GP, too -- why was wolfsbane even IN that pack? o_O

So if TS4 adds werewolves, I hope they add something NEW to the lifestate, and do more research into other portrayals & iterations of werewolves.

Everyone knows about Norse Berserkers (were-bears), but less attention is given to the Wolves of Odin, the Ulfhednar/Ulfhedinn (werewolves). A lot of Nordic neopagans are into them nowadays.

A werewolf GP would make it so EA would have to flesh out werewolves -- if they live in the woods, give them woodland build/buy mode CC. Let them live OFF THE GRID as technophobic naturists, cuz electronics like tvs, PCs & radios hurt their sensitive eyes & ears. They could be more modern, sure, but it would be so much cooler to have sims who only use well water and hot springs and compost toilets and woodfire ovens.

Bring back hobbies/skills like bone/woodcarving, gem cutting, basket weaving & looms, soap/candle-making, pottery, horticulture, tree-cutting/tree-hugging, animal husbandry (could you imagine werewolf shepherds? XD), sparring, (arm) wrestling, boxing, hunting, bird watching and more. Basically: fullblown medieval-rustic hunting lodge aesthetics: animal pelts, antlers, mounted taxidermy, COME ON, EA, stop being boring!

I...am in two minds about Toy Story 4.

On the one hand, I grew up with Toy Story. I grew up with Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Andy and the gang. I have that nostalgia from having my own Woody/Jessie/Buzz/Bullseye (my Woody was given to me by my late nan when I was little, which is why I have an even more emotional connection to the series).

There were bits of Toy Story 4 I liked - it kept up the overall tone of the other movies, it was humorous, it was enjoyable. The animation was beautiful too. I did love it when I watched it and I want to watch it again at least once more.

But the more I think about it, the more I start to feel conflicted because there’s stuff that ruined it for me. It feels like Pixar abandoned the messages from the other films - the messages about friendship, for example. Woody basically left the gang and did a total personality heel turn to (as someone so adequately described it) “tap some porcelain ass”. Perhaps that wording is a bit strong but the fact is that Woody basically had a midlife crisis and abandoned his lifelong friends to be with his girlfriend.

And I’m not hating on Bo Peep - while I wasn’t a fan of Bo in the original film when I was little, I grew to appreciate her more as I got older. And I liked Bo in this one too. But Pixar could have easily had Woody realize that his friends need him, he’s their leader, and it doesn’t matter if he’s playing second fiddle to a spork.

Toy Story 4 seemed to take elements from the other three films and do a shit on them, to be honest.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen Woody being passed over for a new toy - in the first film, he gets jealous because Andy suddenly seems to prefer Buzz. But Woody didn’t leave because of that - he realized that he wanted to be there for Andy, regardless of whether he was the number one toy. He just wanted to be there for Andy. Yet in TS4, it’s like “Woody feels abandoned so he fucks off lmao” - like where is the Woody who would fight to be there for his kid??

Bonnie isn’t Andy, granted, but Woody’s character throughout all the films has always been very strongly in the “the most important thing for a toy is being there for a kid”. In Toy Story 2, Buzz even reminds him “a toy once told me life was only worth living if you were being loved by a kid” - and that’s why Woody ultimately decides that he wants to return to Andy. Even when Andy no longer plays with them, Woody still remains there to watch Andy grow up. I know he doesn’t have that same attachment to Bonnie, but it’s just baffling that he did such a 180.

Speaking of character assassinations...first of all, Buzz was made to be so dumb. Yeah, the inner voice gag was funny but they made Buzz out to be some absolute moron who didn’t understand metaphors or whatever. Buzz isn’t a moron.

Another character assassination? Bonnie. Look, I get that she’s five and she has her favourite toys and a short attention span, bleh bleh bleh. But given the fuss she made about having Woody in TS3, plus how much she loved him in the shorts released between 3 and 4, the fact that she didn’t care at ALL for Woody in the slightest made me mad. It’s not just “she’s not playing with him” - it’s the fact he went missing and she literally didn’t give two shits. If ANY of my toys had gone missing on a trip somewhere, 5 year old me would have been distraught as fuck. I get her attachment to Forky, that’s not what makes me mad, it was a problem even before she made Forky. They turned her from a sweet little girl who loves toys into a careless girl who didn’t care about a toy that was clearly loved and valued by their last owner. Remember how she looked like she was going to cry when Andy hesitated about giving Woody to her? Yeah, I don’t blame Andy - he knew Bonnie was bad news.

All of the other characters were just...there. Usually you get to see lots of the aliens, Jessie, Rex, Bullseye, Hamm etc., but in TS4 they were just there to fill background space and provide the odd line. Mr Potato Head is understandable since Don Rickles sadly passed away before recording any lines and they were using archive recordings. But the others? Jessie had maybe five lines in the entire film, and while she kicked ass in her own way, Pixar made her secondary to Bo. I get that Bo was a big focus in the film but...seriously? While I loved Ducky and Bunny, I’d have rather had more Jessie screentime than two brand new characters created solely for gag purposes. Jessie is beloved and important in the franchise - for her to be delegated a back seat is not only senseless, but it’s also OOC for her.

Woody really did have it worst when it came to character assassination - gone is the lovable cowboy doll who’s always there for their kid and for the gang...now we have Woody being hopelessly in love and whipped to the point where he abandons his lifelong friends because “LoL Bo Peep pretty”.

So overall, I don’t know how I feel about Toy Story 4 - I’m disappointed the more I think about it. Like I said, there were many good parts about the film, including the overall tone and the animation has come a long way, but the story wasn’t nearly as strong as the other 3 movies were - it’s like Pixar wanted to take Toy Story out from the shelf again just for a) money and b) to answer the Bo Peep question. Honestly, I didn’t need a whole movie to explain what happened to Bo Peep - hearing in TS3 that she was gone was enough for me. It allowed me my own idea of what could have happened to her, you know? If they had really wanted to show what happened to Bo, why not create a short like “Small Fry” or “Toy Story of Terror” to explain? Simple fact - again, it’s money. This movie just wasn’t strong enough to hold up the way the others have - in context with the first three, it’s an OOC mess.

Again, there were bits I liked and it’s not a bad movie really - it’s just that there was so much that was bafflingly OOC and stupid. The Woody in the first three films would NEVER have left his friends like he did in TS4, he would never have allowed himself to be a lost/free toy like he did just because he wanted to stay with Bo (who he hasn’t seen in over a decade, mind you - it’s unbelievable that he’s gonna stay with someone he hasn’t seen in over a decade instead of friends he’s been through thick, thin and death situations with).

2010-2011

i was 12-13 and had been playing sims for about 3 years. i watched a lot of teen drama sims series that made me wanna get into video editing. once ts3 came out, i made a channel with my childhood friend and we’d stay up til like 3 AM making ts3 music videos. i was an emo binch so it was all like cringey vampire stuff. my biggest inspo in this period was probably jaydee227′s badass music videos and noojim’s Life of Rose series that still slaps to this day

2012-2013

2012 was a big year in that i figured out how to torrent sony vegas and every second of my free time was spent editings MEPs (multi editor project) i tried to make some sims series but hardly ever got past episode 1 each time. it was a fun year tho, full of content i’m still kinda proud of.

my biggest inspo was 3WordsArentEnough’s Stealing Heaven and Foreverloudx’s Seeking Harmony (he once commented on one of my videos and i was so excited i cried)

2013-2014

ok so cringe alert: i first joined tumblr in 2013. and it became my whole life; i was quoting the jokes, i was watching all the fandom show, i even read homestuck, just to put the icing on the cringe cake. i hadn’t done anything i was rlly passionate about in a while and was starting to get the lonely teen blues, so i needed a project. i made this rlly elaborate plan for a sims series about a girl travelling the world to meet all her tumblr friends. planning sucked up all 2013, and i never got past editing the intro.

2015

by 2015, i hadn’t done anything with sims for a while, and it really bothered me that something i cared so much about was just becoming a part of my distant past. i decided that the issue was i was trying too hard to emulate other ppl’s creations, so i decided to make something i wanted to make, unlike anything else ive seen. i planned it out for months, writing a complex world with detailed lore. and i still didn’t get past editing the intro.

BUT!! i did learn something important that is main reason why im still a part of the sims community today; sims is fuckin limitless, man. all the content that i’ve been wanting to see in traditional media but knew would never happen, i could just CREATE. this project rlly helped me through the feelings of nihilism, feeling like a burden, and internalized homophobia that i was feeling at the time, and i still think about it a lot.

2016

in 2016, i started a private sim story blog, where i’d write sims stories without the pressures of an audience. i wrote two stories there, one about a failing college campus tv show and another about a vampire throuple raising a 200-year old agender vamp kid together. i’m rlly proud of them and i still go back every few months to re-read them, if not just for the lines above.

2018

once i gained a lil confidence with photo-editing, i decided to just peep a lil into simblr and see if i could make a couple friends. i didn’t expect it to become such a big part of my life, but it v quickly did. i met some amazing people, started making cc, and just lived my dam best life. i think i started taking it way too seriously tho and it just became p stressful. i also missed creating content for just myself, so i decided to delete. i dont rlly regret that tbh, but i dont regret all the fun experiences i had on there either!

after about a half a year break, i started getting into editing CAS screenies again. then i started collecting pics of stuff i wanted to make into CC. coming back on a new blog seemed like a good idea, tho i decided that i would just make it a hobby this time around, and wouldn’t guilt myself for taking breaks when i want to.

so that brings me to now! lots has changed over the years, but sims has been a nice constant in my life. not sure what the 2020′s r gonna hold, but im glad to be able to have a creative outlet i can use like this!!

I hope the Holidays treated all of you well and that you and your loved ones are fine and healthy. 

It’s been a while since I last visited this corner of the Internet, but I guessed it was a good time to say hi again :).

I am still fine and keeping my anxiety in control. The first part of the school year was a bit... bumpy - although to be fair, working in a school feels like a roller coaster most of the time - but I managed it like a champ. I went to my monthly check up with my Psychiatrist and he told me that if everything keeps going well that we will talk about discontinuing the Lexapro in three months. I am a bit apprehensive about that, but I trust my doctor and I know that he will make sure that the process goes as smoothly as possible. 

Thank you so much for all the kind and supportive messages (both as replies and in my inbox). I was very touched by them. I’ve missed you all, but I haven’t really posted here because I don’t know what to do with a Simblr if there’s no Sim content to post :S. 

I’ve been playing a bit of The Sims 4 here and there, mostly because it loads in a flash due to having very little custom content. I admit I have not loaded The Sims 2 since June. I did some recolors for personal use using @dreadpirate‘s Back to Maxis packages around that time to keep myself occupied while I recovered from my injury. But I have not touched the game since then. 

However, I really need to go back to playing and posting. I need to practice my English because, after 25 long years, I finally feel brave enough to tackle a Cambridge English Certification (it is a long story for another time). I am taking the Proficiency exam in May because why the hell not? Go Big or Go Home, I guess. 

I’ve been studying at home, watching TV and listening to podcasts. Although my pronunciation is not great due to my accent, I am used to speak in English because I work in a bilingual school, so I need to communicate with teachers whose first (and in some cases only) language is English. But I am a bit stuck with the writing part. 

I remember that when I really developed my English writing skills was when I wrote tons of Fanfiction two decades ago. People used to tell me “Wow! Your English has improved a lot! What have you been doing?” and of course I would answer that I’d been studying because I am taking my Fanfiction history to the grave (I wrote Digimon and Fairly Odd Parents fanfics, so I guess you’ll understand that it is an extremely embarrassing fact to admit IRL). 

However, I do not belong to any “fandom” at the moment so I don’t have any plot bunnies running inside my head like I used in the past. I’m not even sure if that will ever happen again.  I wrote fanfiction because I loved developing a character’s back story or changing the canon. “What if?” stories were my weakness. I also enjoyed writing sequels and time skips and imagining how a character would change 10 or 20 years later. 

So, I guess in the mean time I can work on a small Legacy or Let’s Play. I’ve been trying to have the Pleasant Twins at TS4 meet and date Darren Dreamer and PewDiePie Dustin Broke with little success because those guys won’t give them the time of day since they are Celebrities. I could give it a try again just for fun and take some screenshots here and there. 

There’s also the convoluted Skip Broke story among Sims Dimensions (TS2/Ts3/TS4) I was developing a while ago, but that is a very overwhelming project. I could write it as a fanfic, though, and add the pictures another time. 

Anyway, I think this is as good as an entry for now. I hope I’ll have something new to post here soon.

How was your day: It was okay. Work sucked ass. Being understaffed all the time & working with a fake ass coworker is so draining. But it got better when I got home because I played some Skyrim. Then went out to eat with my mom at Five Guys then bought myself a memorory foam bed topper from Bed Bath & Beyond. So I slept amazing last night. Now it’s Saturday & I plan on not leaving the house!

Your favorite career: Ummm that’s kinda hard because I always choose freelance careers in game because I love how your sim can stay home & just work. But it gets a little monotonous at times. I also love the teacher & administrative careers that came with Discover University!

So I went to see Frozen 2 with the fam

And let me put it into context, I thought the first one was... massively overrated. 

[Disclaimer: all of this is my personal opinion and you may not agree with it. There is a very high chance you will not agree with it. Also, I watched it with Russian dub, so maybe some finesse was lost on me.]  

Like okaaay, it’s a sister-tale and it was okay in terms of story and engagement, and yeah, we all laughed about Elsa’s ghost braid and the one-face syndrome of the female cast, but the animation quality was good, and Hans plot twist WAS unexpected. It just didn’t blow me way narratively. Maybe because Snow Queen was important to me as a child and the old soviet cartoon will forever be my go-to reference. 

So when I went to watch the Sequel, I a) had next to no idea what it was going to be about and b) seeing the trailer, I was sure the animation would have upgraded, and I hoped they would take on the misgivings of the first film and improve upon them. 

Frozen 2 (as it turned out to be) was not the film I expected to see. 

I’m going to make this (try to make this) a spoiler-free review. This is mostly for me to spill acid in the wake of Oscar Nominations that thought to include this sequel and fucking Live-Action Animation movie we are not going to name, and not KLAUS. 

Which is the best animation made this year. 

You can fight me outside if you don’t agree. 

[Missing Link was okay, though not as emotionally thoughtful as any other Laika work. Toy Story 4 was alright-ish, but still underwhelming in comparison to TS3. The only film I have no questions about is HTTYD 3 - it was very good, but this is not what this post is about.]

So anyway, Frozen 2 is a total mess. 

Visually it’s wonderful, and the sisters look different (slightly), and parents have some sort of personalities, which still makes their Else-related decision strange and shitty parenting. We all agreed it was after the first film, but I’m going to return to this pint later.  

There are two major themes going to through the plot, the first one just bashing you head-first from the very beginning, while the other follows... two minutes later. The thing with these two themes is: the first one is the most foreseeable plot twist of all time, especially if you consider this film as a product of our current social climate, while the second one, while kinda the continuation of Elsa’s “Let it go” character arc, takes this arc to some very very far-fetched OP level, that at some point you really have to sit back and force yourself to suspend the disbelief of “Elsa, the most Magical Girl of them all”. 

It’s honestly a shame. Because these core themes are not the worst. There are a lot of element to them that the film introduces that are good, and could work, EXCEPT the film either does nothing with them, or tries to underplay them as something mysterious and strange which... they kinda don’t feel like. 

All of these problems stream from one massive misgiving the film has, and it’s that the film doesn’t clearly know who it is for. It tries to play the card of “kids who watched the first movie will come to see this one, so this film is for them”, but what was supposed to be a step forward, somehow became two steps back. The theme A will not engage adults, because adults will see through it in 5 seconds and the final outcome of it will be the only thing acceptable as an outcome (within the current cultural climate, as I mentioned before), while at the same time it will not work for kids, because they will, quite frankly, not give single fuck about it. They will giggle at Olaf and his questionable shenanigans, that will pop up at random times during the film, kinda stalling the plot - no, let me correct myself. Kids will engage with Olaf’s slap-stick, and... nothing else. I wish I could not say that, but I sat in the movie theatre packed with kids, and this is what I saw and heard. When the kid on the seat before me (6-7 yo) during one of the most emotional parts of the film replied to Anna’s “what am I going to do now?” with “nothing”, it dawned upon me that the message did not connect. 

I personally had to pause myself several times during the showing, just to ask myself: What the actual hell am I watching?

And then we come to theme B. I heard in one of the reviews that this film would have been a much better, more engaging film if the creators made it Just Elsa’s Story. Both themes could have been included, but the emphasis wold have been solidly of theme B and Elsa, and how we, as audience, would experience this whole process with her, and I agree. Not that it would have been completely awesome for younger kids, because the concept of it flies a bit over their age group, but it would have been interesting for Elsa stans, and as a general themes of the movie. 

But this universe is not just about Elsa. It has Anna as well. And this movie does Anna a huge disservice. I’m not even going to talk about Kristoff. That was just... sad. So very sad, and pointless, and every time their interactions came on screen I had to stuff down my second-hand embarassment and marvel at how this relationship is not ready for what the film wants it to be and how can you mess up the intriguing chemistry that they started to in the first film. (Also, if you actually like the whole Kristoff in the Woods music video, but somehow ever said anything bad about Strange Magic, you are on my problematic list. I’m not fucking around.) But Anna - she was a decent character, and humanly believable, and now she is... in this movie. This is Elsa Movie and Anna is... also in it. (Unlike Kristoff.) Wow.

But the strangest thing about this movie is that with both themes A and B combined, we encounter a dilemma that overruns both of them, and in many ways, renders them null. It came to my attention when some young dad behind me muttered half-way “Can you believe these two run a kingdom?”, and I had a revelation. They DO run a kingdom. And the narrative “call to action” is kingdom-related, except it’s not, because it’s Elsa related. And Theme B is kingdom-related, except it’s not, it’s past related. It’s a question of responsibility, except somehow all of this responsibility is not about the Now. The characters feel the need to fix what was done before them, to discover what was before them, while literally abandoning the present for the past. The one time when the stakes are actually raised, ONE TIME in the whole movie when you have to actually worry, I was seriously more concerned about how the whole of the kingdom is.... I can’t explain it without spoilers, but when the ruler has to chose between the mistakes of the past and the preservation of the current, I’m honestly fucking worried about the kingdom and the people living in it, and maybe Anna and Elsa should not be fucking rulers. I’m just saying. 

But even that is, this one stake... is flushed down the drain. The resolution of the film feels rushed and jumbled, and most importantly, Nothing is Lost. I had to sit and watch in awe at how Zero Sacrifices were made. The characters make a right moral choice therefore there will be no bad consequences. What the actual fuck. For a film that makes us wonder about who we are and now we make major decisions, it offers no serious outcomes to these decisions. And this is why it’s two steps back. 

First movie made it clear that Letting it Go is not just about your personal freedom, but also about stepping out of comfort zone to embrace who you are and what is important. It made it clear that personal relationships are not straight forward, and take time and work and communication. 

And it feels like this sequel kinda spit in the face of all these ideas. The characters now do whatever they want, and in the way, especially in application to Anna and Elsa, repeat the very same mistakes their parents did, except it’s now somehow a good thing. Because everything works out in the end because magic.

As for i’m-about-to-enter-uni updates...is it just me, or are uni freshmen really just a bunch of confused kids released into the world of adults with no clear instructions? Because I feel like that’s exactly what me and my new friends are. A bunch of confused kids. This is going to be fun. In a way. Fun with a lot of freaking out on the side.

It was ts4...interesting, I don’t think that has ever happened to me. I had all my settings the way I remember them, only the sim settings were on high or medium, and not on the “very high” (or whatever the setting is called in English).

I’m a little bitter about it because I’ve only noticed it now and looking at my NSB screenshots, it’s been like this for months. I’m not sure if anyone else will notice it though or if it’s just me because I’m so used to my sims’ faces.

You’ve Got a Friend in Me

So... This might be little known about me, but I was deeply into the Toy Story fandom (such as it is/was) back when Toy Story 3 came out in 2010.  Yes, I saw the original films as a child in theaters, and yes, Toy Story 3 shattered and wildly surpassed any expectations I might have had going in.  It was immediately, and I believe still is, my favorite film.  Period.  My love for Toy Story 3 is many layers deep.  I’ve produced fanfiction (the latter of which has suddenly aged poorly in some respects with the introduction of TS4!) and a carefully curated fanmix that I am still very proud of and still enjoy myself in regular rotation.

So now I’ve seen Toy Story 4.  It was certainly a good movie, and also certainly an entertaining entry in the Toy Story saga.  Did it live up to its predecessor?  No, it didn’t, but I didn’t necessarily expect it to, because that would be a very difficult feat to accomplish at this point.  But it had some very strong narrative points, which I’ll attempt to dissect and discuss.

Spoilers for Toy Story 4 ahead.

The thing is - Even though each entry in the series was probably written to be “final” at the time, TS3 brought a level of narrative closure and completeness that the previous films hadn’t.  3 made a perfect trilogy.  The end of TS3 led everyone to a metaphorical life-after-life.  Their struggles (literally to hell and back) complete, they could finally relax and be their truest selves, “into the wild blue yonder.”

Maybe I was forgetting that every film was actually very much about Woody, and that there were still lessons he could learn (and thereby teach the audience).  By the end of TS3, Woody had finally overcome his laserlike loyalty to a particular person -- But, we now realize, not his loyalty to his “career,” and to his very rigid ideas about how to perform that function.

(1) Single-child “Ownership”.  This idea has been out there throughout the series -- Either you’re an “owned” toy belonging to a particular person, or you’re “lost” (with a generally negative connotation, up until now).  This distinction has been drawn in especially black-and-white terms by Woody himself, while the other toys have been open to a gray area in the middle (e.g. Sunnyside Daycare, TS3).  In TS4, Woody is challenged to consider the extreme other end from his position - and lo and behold, he experiences firsthand the merits of it (namely, charitable work to enable other toys to live out their purpose) and decides it’s a shift in thinking that he can live with.  By the end of the film - radical character growth accomplished.

(2) Leadership means always being in charge.  This was made plain in the beginning of the film.  It’s difficult for Woody to fit in when there’s already an established leader, and he just can’t take orders.  He continues to act erratically (listening to his “inner voice” and acting on what he thinks is best) throughout the movie.  When he’s really out of his element (and his solitary efforts fail), Bo Peep is the only one who succeeds in “leading” him.  Woody finally learns to take a back seat when there’s an expert around.

Did Woody make the right decision at the end of the film?  For purely personal (sob sob sob) reasons, I want to say “WHAT, how could they?!”  For narrative reasons, I’ll resoundingly say Yes.  For all the talk Woody has done about the cycle of childhood, “Watching them grow up and then go on to do other things that you never get to see,” and so on, Woody himself has been stuck in a childlike mode perpetually.  Now, he has finally gotten to mature.

Exhibit A: He experiences a genuine (romantic) peer-to-peer connection and eventually throws himself into investing in it.  I’ve always seen the toy-child relationship as a deified one; a duty that must be done; the only way to Know your Creator, religious overtones and all that.  Personally, as a nonreligious person, I am rejoicing inside more than I thought possible to see Woody finally free himself from that dogmatism and to put some focus on an equal, of-his-own-world partnership.  He’s broadened his horizons in terms of the types of love that are out there to be had.

Exhibit B: He learns a new type of altruism that is completely non-self-serving (unless you count the positive emotion of gratification as self-serving, but that’s a whole other argument to be had).  Let’s face it: Pretty much everything Woody has ever done up until now has been fairly transparently self-serving, even when it’s under the guise of altruism.  He is even called out for it point-blank by Bo in this movie.  (Yess!)  I’m actually very impressed with how the whole “voice box transfer” went down.  Gabby started out as your conventional villain, but all it took was an appeal to logic to obtain Woody’s willing participation.  Woody was at a vulnerable place emotionally, but I do not believe he was ultimately taken advantage of.  Gabby’s logic was accurate and convincing.  Organ donation is by definition one of the most selfless things a person can do.  After donating his non-essential voicebox, Woody goes on to witness new life breathed into another (and, that person doing what she was meant to do) as a direct result of his gift.  In the end, Woody stays on with Bo Peep and the others to perform more “matchmaking” acts of getting toys together with children.  The thing that Woody can no longer do himself, he can go on to pay forward through others and make a greater impact in that way.  Ultimately, this is how I now see and accept that Toy Story 3 didn’t have to be the end, much as it seemed it should be at the time.

And plus, I like crying at movies.  If I’m crying, it means they did something right.

There was one thing that kinda bothered me.  As "good with toys” as Bonnie was supposed to be, she really cast Woody aside.  Even when Woody and Forky both went missing together, there was nary a mention of Woody’s absence.  Brutal.  I understand why they had to do this -- to drive Woody’s emotional crisis, to further establish that he really wasn’t needed in his current post and to free him to choose his own path at the end.  Also, kids will be kids, and it’s realistic for a child to act that way.  Still.  Brutal. ;(

I was also disappointed not to see much of Buzz and Jessie’s romantic relationship in this movie (I fell for them, HARD, in TS3), but - This was Woody’s movie.  Woody’s and Bo Peep’s - It was their turn.  And you can be darn sure, I Felt the Feels.  Shout-out to the lighting and color storyboardist(s) for the entire ending sequence of the film.  It was perfect. :’)

The pace, at times, was also frenetic.  Being a toy has always been portrayed as a stressful existence, but in TS4 it felt like every-time-you-blink-augh-there-he-goes-again-I’m-stressed-out-by-all-the-constant-separation!!

In all, TS4 wasn’t as sweeping of a narrative as TS3, and the themes were nowhere near as universal.  It’s hard to beat themes of aging, becoming a burden, feeling your obsolescence, confronting your inevitable mortality (TS3) - And although TS4 obviously touched on the big theme “Why am I here?”, it seemed a little directionless in its execution of that.  Are we supposed to relate to Forky’s exhibiting constant suicidal tendencies until he’s taught there is a good reason for him not to be that way? (?)  Most living creatures, including humans, have an innate self-preservation instinct, and the will not to live arises under extenuating circumstances, so that didn’t particularly ring true to me.

Where TS4 really shone was in its treatment of Woody’s character specifically.  I was pleasantly surprised to see his character elevated another level.  There are lessons we can all learn here.  It was no TS3, but it was still quite solid and I’m sure it will be getting many of my repeated viewings!

i’m the (??) lmao that’s me always but ahdhghdfkshg thank you so much!!!!! i’m so glad you love them, it means the world to me ;-; and listen, that was me, i had no idea how i was going to do it because i’d only seen ts3 stories up to that point and i thought there was like a set Way to tell stories but i had no idea what i was doing so i was like y’know what...i’m just gonna do it how i feel comfortable doing it and i’m gonna figure it out as i go along. so honestly try to roughly plan out what your stor(ies) will entail and if you get stuck on planning and can’t figure it out, just jump right into it, try to make a few scenes or get the ball rolling somehow, even if it’s just random posts (i mean that’s all my blog was until i decided to commit to santi’s story.) it’s always gonna feel weird and awkward at first, but you’ll get comfortable the more you do it and it’ll figure itself out, trust me!

I read through most of your story posts the other day and now I’m rereading it again just to torture myself some more (and maybe catch up on some posts I may have missed). I honestly don’t think I’ve come across a sims story that’s so beautifully written & includes such evocative pictures as yours. I’m really at a loss for words, it’s all so stunning. & after a nearly two-month long creative block, it’s planted the smallest seed of inspiration in the back of my mind, so thank you for your art.

YEAH I DID! omg. i have a LOT of issues with this season (mostly in how badly they tried to retcon nancy and everyone else not caring about barb’s death, how bad the writing was in the realm of nancy and steve breaking up and then her and jonathan getting together...holy fuck it was so uncomfortable with that 40 yr old conspiracy theorist guy i couldn’t even enjoy my ship getting together lmao) also ur right, max and billy honestly did not offer anything to the story...like i loved max too but what was the point...billy acted like their presence and the reason they had to move was so dramatic when it was really nothing...unless they’re saving that for season 3 but like. the whole situation with billy was so anticlimactic. he was like a walmart version of henry from IT. like boohoo ur dad’s an asshole and then he beat up steve. good character arc. i liked max standing up for herself but really...that whole thing was so lackluster, i didn’t care about it at all. I was wondering if you were going to mention lou's struggles with being a single mom and the stigma surrounding single motherhood? As a single mother myself I'd really enjoy seeing you take on the issue. Personally, my biggest problem was overcoming the generalizations people put on you when you're a single mom. People always assumed that I that I was stupid and uneducated because I had my son when I was 17.

yes! that will definitely come up. i will focus a lot on her struggles as a single mom. so far i’ve mostly just peppered in some stuff about money troubles, and that will come up again, and the issues you mention will be pretty central to her character as well. i’m sorry you have to endure that, it’s not fair. people don’t even realize how strong and dedicated single mothers are.

you gotta turn bb.moveobjects on and then press alt + 9 when an object is selected to move it upward. so what i did with those poses i made was, i selected a teleporter and pressed alt + 9 until it was at a spot i liked on the roof. that’s why releasing those poses would be tricky, ‘cause every build is different so there’s no set way to place them, you just kinda have to play around with them

do you have any tips for taking good screenshots in game? like how to get the good angles and good quality? i play on ultra but i think when i zoom in and then use the arrows on my keyboard to move around, the pictures gets less clear and looks kinda blurry. how should i do this?

well if you’re already using ultra, there’s not much you can do lmao. sims 4 is just bad with textures in general. it also depends on the objects as well, some are better quality than others. if i zoom in far on a sim’s face, i generally know there will be some pixelation and i can clean that up in photoshop with topaz clean and the smudge tool. i am very reliant on photoshop sometimes lmao. it sounds like you already have the basics of taking good screenshots, it’s just sometimes you have to fight and work with sims 4′s less-than-hd quality.

every time you write about molly and her in heaven it makes my heart swell, like the characters were answering asks and someone asked her what heaven was like and even though it was so small short lil answer it still pulls at the heart strings, basically what im trying to say is that your writing is so good! <3

i searched things like “bonfire” and pasted parts of it that i wanted on the pic to make it look more realistic, then put a layer mask on the pasted pic and erased the edges and stuff to make it blend in better. the sparks and stuff i added by pasting it onto a new layer and changing the blending mode to screen! 

idk if you have every watched grey anatomy but Lou's backstory is starting to remind me of Jo (Jo is a character from the show) like Jo was in a abusive relationship and she is married to the guy but she cant get divorced or he will come and find her. So like if Lou didn't tell Fiona's dad he was a dad and Lou was married to him and cant escape the marriage (cause abuse), plus it would explain Lou's kink with being choked ;) full circle *god-like heaven music with tiniest violin is playing now*

hmmmmm well i know the control panel opens when you press shift + f2, and then you check the boxes of the effects you want on them. i haven’t heard of this problem so i dunno what other advice to give i’m sorry :{ if it’s your first time installing it, you might have to wait a little to get it to load up.

for any skin detail or makeup, you have to go into s4s and open the package up, go to one of the tabs (honestly i don’t remember which one because i don’t have it open rn lmao) and you’ll see the different age groups and you check the box for toddler. and then save it of course. (there’s probably a better guide on how to do this somewhere lmao)

i do actually have aging off ‘cause i’m a coward lmao even in the ts3 days when i wasn’t doing story stuff and literally just playing i had it off for the most part and just aged sims up when i wanted because i like to be in control of Everything (aries)

i just set mine to ts4′s screenshots folder because it’s what i was used to and it works for me haha. hmmmmmm did you copy the exact address or whatever it’s called of your folder’s location and then paste it into the reshade box? try doing that with another location and see if it works. if anything you can do what i did ‘cause it worked for me
