Soham Mazumdar, Co-Founder & CEO of WisdomAI – Interview Series
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soham Mazumdar is the Co-Founder and CEO of WisdomAI, a company at the forefront of AI-driven solutions. Prior to founding WisdomAI in 2023, he was Co-Founder and Chief Architect at Rubrik, where he played a key role in scaling the company over a 9-year period. Soham previously held engineering leadership roles at Facebook and Google, where he contributed to core search infrastructure and was recognized with the Google Founder’s Award. He also co-founded Tagtile, a mobile loyalty platform acquired by Facebook. With two decades of experience in software architecture and AI innovation, Soham is a seasoned entrepreneur and technologist based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
WisdomAI is an AI-native business intelligence platform that helps enterprises access real-time, accurate insights by integrating structured and unstructured data through its proprietary “Knowledge Fabric.” The platform powers specialized AI agents that curate data context, answer business questions in natural language, and proactively surface trends or risks—without generating hallucinated content. Unlike traditional BI tools, WisdomAI uses generative AI strictly for query generation, ensuring high accuracy and reliability. It integrates with existing data ecosystems and supports enterprise-grade security, with early adoption by major firms like Cisco and ConocoPhillips.
You co-founded Rubrik and helped scale it into a major enterprise success. What inspired you to leave in 2023 and build WisdomAI—and was there a particular moment that clarified this new direction?
The enterprise data inefficiency problem was staring me right in the face. During my time at Rubrik, I witnessed firsthand how Fortune 500 companies were drowning in data but starving for insights. Even with all the infrastructure we built, less than 20% of enterprise users actually had the right access and know-how to use data effectively in their daily work. It was a massive, systemic problem that no one was really solving.
I’m also a builder by nature – you can see it in my path from Google to Tagtile to Rubrik and now WisdomAI. I get energized by taking on fundamental challenges and building solutions from the ground up. After helping scale Rubrik to enterprise success, I felt that entrepreneurial pull again to tackle something equally ambitious.
Last but not least, the AI opportunity was impossible to ignore. By 2023, it became clear that AI could finally bridge that gap between data availability and data usability. The timing felt perfect to build something that could democratize data insights for every enterprise user, not just the technical few.
The moment of clarity came when I realized we could combine everything I’d learned about enterprise data infrastructure at Rubrik with the transformative potential of AI to solve this fundamental inefficiency problem.
WisdomAI introduces a “Knowledge Fabric” and a suite of AI agents. Can you break down how this system works together to move beyond traditional BI dashboards?
We’ve built an agentic data insights platform that works with data where it is – structured, unstructured, and even “dirty” data. Rather than asking analytics teams to run reports, business managers can directly ask questions and drill into details. Our platform can be trained on any data warehousing system by analyzing query logs.
We’re compatible with major cloud data services like Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Google’s BigQuery, Amazon’s Redshift, Databricks, and Postgres and also just document formats like excel, PDF, powerpoint etc.
Unlike conventional tools designed primarily for analysts, our conversational interface empowers business users to get answers directly, while our multi-agent architecture enables complex queries across diverse data systems.
You’ve emphasized that WisdomAI avoids hallucinations by separating GenAI from answer generation. Can you explain how your system uses GenAI differently—and why that matters for enterprise trust?
Our AI-Ready Context Model trains on the organization’s data to create a universal context understanding that answers questions with high semantic accuracy while maintaining data privacy and governance. Furthermore, we use generative AI to formulate well-scoped queries that allow us to extract data from the different systems, as opposed to feeding raw data into the LLMs. This is crucial for addressing hallucination and safety concerns with LLMs.
You coined the term “Agentic Data Insights Platform.” How is agentic intelligence different from traditional analytics tools or even standard LLM-based assistants?
Traditional BI stacks slow decision-making because every question has to fight its way through disconnected data silos and a relay team of specialists. When a chief revenue officer needs to know how to close the quarter, the answer typically passes through half a dozen hands—analysts wrangling CRM extracts, data engineers stitching files together, and dashboard builders refreshing reports—turning a simple query into a multi-day project.
Our platform breaks down those silos and puts the full depth of data one keystroke away, so the CRO can drill from headline metrics all the way to row-level detail in seconds.
No waiting in the analyst queue, no predefined dashboards that can’t keep up with new questions—just true self-service insights delivered at the speed the business moves.
How do you ensure WisdomAI adapts to the unique data vocabulary and structure of each enterprise? What role does human input play in refining the Knowledge Fabric?
Working with data where and how it is – that’s essentially the holy grail for enterprise business intelligence. Traditional systems aren’t built to handle unstructured data or “dirty” data with typos and errors. When information exists across varied sources – databases, documents, telemetry data – organizations struggle to integrate this information cohesively.
Without capabilities to handle these diverse data types, valuable context remains isolated in separate systems. Our platform can be trained on any data warehousing system by analyzing query logs, allowing it to adapt to each organization’s unique data vocabulary and structure.
You’ve described WisdomAI’s development process as ‘vibe coding’—building product experiences directly in code first, then iterating through real-world use. What advantages has this approach given you compared to traditional product design?
“Vibe coding” is a significant shift in how software is built where developers leverage the power of AI tools to generate code simply by describing the desired functionality in natural language. It’s like an intelligent assistant that does what you want the software to do, and it writes the code for you. This dramatically reduces the manual effort and time traditionally required for coding.
For years, the creation of digital products has largely followed a familiar script: meticulously plan the product and UX design, then execute the development, and iterate based on feedback. The logic was clear because investing in design upfront minimizes costly rework during the more expensive and time-consuming development phase. But what happens when the cost and time to execute that development drastically shrinks? This capability flips the traditional development sequence on its head. Suddenly, developers can start building functional software based on a high-level understanding of the requirements, even before detailed product and UX designs are finalized.
With the speed of AI code generation, the effort involved in creating exhaustive upfront designs can, in certain contexts, become relatively more time-consuming than getting a basic, functional version of the software up and running. The new paradigm in the world of vibe coding becomes: execute (code with AI), then adapt (design and refine).
This approach allows for incredibly early user validation of the core concepts. Imagine getting feedback on the actual functionality of a feature before investing heavily in detailed visual designs. This can lead to more user-centric designs, as the design process is directly informed by how users interact with a tangible product.
At WisdomAI, we actively embrace AI code generation. We’ve found that by embracing rapid initial development, we can quickly test core functionalities and gather invaluable user feedback early in the process, live on the product. This allows our design team to then focus on refining the user experience and visual design based on real-world usage, leading to more effective and user-loved products, faster.
From sales and marketing to manufacturing and customer success, WisdomAI targets a wide spectrum of business use cases. Which verticals have seen the fastest adoption—and what use cases have surprised you in their impact?
We’ve seen transformative results with multiple customers. For F500 oil and gas company, ConocoPhillips, drilling engineers and operators now use our platform to query complex well data directly in natural language. Before WisdomAI, these engineers needed technical help for even basic operational questions about well status or job performance. Now they can instantly access this information while simultaneously comparing against best practices in their drilling manuals—all through the same conversational interface. They evaluated numerous AI vendors in a six-month process, and our solution delivered a 50% accuracy improvement over the closest competitor.
At a hyper growth Cyber Security company Descope, WisdomAI is used as a virtual data analyst for Sales and Finance. We reduced report creation time from 2-3 days to just 2-3 hours—a 90% decrease. This transformed their weekly sales meetings from data-gathering exercises to strategy sessions focused on actionable insights. As their CRO notes, “Wisdom AI brings data to my fingertips. It really democratizes the data, bringing me the power to go answer questions and move on with my day, rather than define your question, wait for somebody to build that answer, and then get it in 5 days.” This ability to make data-driven decisions with unprecedented speed has been particularly crucial for a fast-growing company in the competitive identity management market.
A practical example: A chief revenue officer asks, “How am I going to close my quarter?” Our platform immediately offers a list of pending deals to focus on, along with information on what’s delaying each one – such as specific questions customers are waiting to have answered. This happens with five keystrokes instead of five specialists and days of delay.
Many companies today are overloaded with dashboards, reports, and siloed tools. What are the most common misconceptions enterprises have about business intelligence today?
Organizations sit on troves of information yet struggle to leverage this data for quick decision-making. The challenge isn’t just about having data, but working with it in its natural state – which often includes “dirty” data not cleaned of typos or errors. Companies invest heavily in infrastructure but face bottlenecks with rigid dashboards, poor data hygiene, and siloed information. Most enterprises need specialized teams to run reports, creating significant delays when business leaders need answers quickly. The interface where people consume data remains outdated despite advancements in cloud data engines and data science.
Do you view WisdomAI as augmenting or eventually replacing existing BI tools like Tableau or Looker? How do you fit into the broader enterprise data stack?
We’re compatible with major cloud data services like Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Google’s BigQuery, Amazon’s Redshift, Databricks, and Postgres and also just document formats like excel, PDF, powerpoint etc. Our approach transforms the interface where people consume data, which has remained outdated despite advancements in cloud data engines and data science.
Looking ahead, where do you see WisdomAI in five years—and how do you see the concept of “agentic intelligence” evolving across the enterprise landscape?
The future of analytics is moving from specialist-driven reports to self-service intelligence accessible to everyone. BI tools have been around for 20+ years, but adoption hasn’t even reached 20% of company employees. Meanwhile, in just twelve months, 60% of workplace users adopted ChatGPT, many using it for data analysis. This dramatic difference shows the potential for conversational interfaces to increase adoption.
We’re seeing a fundamental shift where all employees can directly interrogate data without technical skills. The future will combine the computational power of AI with natural human interaction, allowing insights to find users proactively rather than requiring them to hunt through dashboards.
Thank you for the great interview, readers who wish to learn more should visit WisdomAI.

Consider the ways oil and gas are already entwined with big tech. The foundation of the partnership between Big Tech and Big Oil is the cloud, explains Zero Cool, a software expert who went to Kazakhstan to do work for Chevron and chronicled this in Logic magazine. “For Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, as well as a few smaller cloud competitors like Oracle and IBM, winning the IT spend of the Fortune 500 is where most of the money in the public cloud market will be made”—and out of the biggest ten companies in the world by revenue, six are in the business of oil production. What are oil companies going to do with the cloud? Apparently, Chevron—which signed a seven-year cloud contract with Microsoft—generates a terabyte of data per day per sensor and has thousands of wells with these sensors. They can’t even use all that data because of the scale of computation required. “Big Tech doesn’t just supply the infrastructures that enable oil companies to crunch their data,” explains Zero Cool; they also provide analytic tools, and machine learning can help discover patterns to run their operations more efficiently. This is another reason why Big Oils need Big Tech; they have the edge when it comes to artificial intelligence/machine learning. “Why go through the effort of using clean energy to power your data centers when those same data centers are being used by companies like Chevron to produce more oil?” Zero Cool asks, also noting that one of the main reasons oil companies are interested in technology is to surveil workers.

Self Publishing Promotion Advice
Once you’ve self-published a book, it can be frustrating to try and get eyes on it. How do you direct traffic to your book on Amazon or any other platform?
What NOT To Do
Never pay for “book promo” accounts or reviews.
These accounts do not attract followers that want to buy or read books in any specific genre, and they don’t curate the books they post. They do not send meaningful traffic to your book. They are a scam and a waste of money.
More info:
Questions To Ask Book Promoters on Instagram
Book Promotion Instagram Scams
Never post a link to your book in an online group or forum without EXPLICIT permission.
The vast majority of forums, subreddits, discords, etc. for writers are constantly getting spammed by people promoting their books. Typically, this is against the rules of that community. Posting in a community in a way that violates their rules is not a good way to build recognition for your name and work. Also, you are not likely to find people who want to read your specific book by shotgun blasting your link around the internet.
Many places do have weekly self-promo threads or other specific opportunities for writers to self-promote. Look for those and be sure to read and follow all their rules. But know that there is still a very small chance that you will find a meaningful number of readers in the population of people who happen to be skimming these self-promo threads, especially ones that are not genre specific.
Don’t push friends and family to buy and review your book.
If people who don’t frequently read and buy books in a certain genre all visit your book’s listing right when it launches, it can confuse the algorithm and keep your book from being shown to the right people. Any money you make off people buying your book out of personal obligation will never amount to much and is not a good use of people’s time, money, or good will.
What TO Do
Make sure your book is attractive
Good cover art and a strong tagline and blurb are critical. No amount of ads, links, swaps, etc. will help you if, once you get that visibility, people don’t like what they see.
Look at the books that are the top sellers in your categories on Amazon. Notice trends and patterns in their covers and blurbs. Do research on what makes a strong blurb. Many online writing communities will give feedback on blurbs (be sure to read and follow their rules before posting!).
There are a lot of free resources and courses out there on how to write a compelling blurb. Here are a few to get started:
Reedsy article
Fix My Story
Blue Ink Review
You can also hire a professional cover artist or someone with expertise in your genre to help you with your blurb.
Learn Amazon and Facebook/Meta ads
Amazon and Facebook ads are some of the most powerful ways to get your book seen by people who are likely to be interested. Like any powerful tool, there is a learning curve when it comes to making them work for you. But time spent learning this tool will ultimately be MUCH more effective than just about anything else you could try.
There are lots of people out there selling courses and books on how to use Amazon and Meta ads. My recommendation is that you start with freely available resources and then decide whether you have specific questions or want professional advice in specific areas. Some people understand the data and analytics dashboards but need help writing ad copy that drives clicks while others might need help understanding how to target ads or evaluate their success.
You can watch videos about it, like this one from Michael La Ronn or this one from David Gaughran.
Or you can follow written tutorials, like this one at Kindlepreneur, this one from Jane Friedman, or this one from Written Word Media.
Start reading and searching around and learn as much as you can. When you are confused about something or find a gap in your knowledge, search for videos or articles that address that particular issue.
When it comes to paid courses, I have personally enjoyed the Ad School course from Bryan Cohen, and I’ve also heard good things about Mark Dawson’s courses. The Self Publishing Titans have pretty great SEO, for what that’s worth. Always check out someone’s free resources and look at reviews of their course on other platforms before dropping big bucks.
Use Author-Specific Platforms To Attract Readers & Get Reviews
There are a number of websites that cater specifically to self published authors trying to connect with readers. Many of them work by letting you offer free review copies to readers who are interested in your genre. They read your book for free, then post a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or wherever else you want them to do so.
These sites do not guarantee readers or purchases just by doing the bare minimum - they are tools to use, and you need to learn how to use them effectively for your purposes. Read their documentation. Join the site as a reader to see what things look like from the other side.
These types of websites often cost money for premium features. Try noodling around with their free version before deciding whether it will be worth it.
Some websites in this vein to check out:
BookSprout
BookSirens
NetGalley
Reedsy Discovery
Run a BookBub ad or promotion
BookBub is a specific website that lets people browse for books on sale. You can run ads on BookBub or use their platform to promote a sale on your book. More here: BookBub Promotion Tools
Use A Free Reader Magnet To Build A Mailing List
The website BookFunnel lets you upload a free book (or novella, or short story, etc.) that people get to download in exchange for joining your email list. This is called a lead magnet or a reader magnet. If you have a good reader magnet with an attractive cover and blurb, and you join the right swaps and promos, you can very quickly build a mailing list.
Fun tip: Since having a cool, genre-appropriate cover is key for this, one thing I like to do for a lead magnet is browse through pre-made covers, buy one I like, then write a novella that fits that cover!
Once your lead magnet is up on BookFunnel, you can use their platform to join “swaps” or “group promos,” where your book is promoted by other people or in conjunction with other similar books. You can also post a link to your mailing list signup/book download page on your own social media or wherever else makes sense.
There are other websites that let you do this too - many of the author promo websites linked above have similar features - but I’ve only used BookFunnel, and I find it very easy to use.
You will also need to use a general newsletter platform like MailChimp to connect to your account, but I find it pretty simple to understand once you’re setting things up. And then, of course, once you’ve built a mailing list, you have to use it effectively!

Grow An Organic Social Media Presence
This is a tough one, but for some people, can be pretty fun. Figure out which social media platform has the most active readers in your genre - Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, probably, but different genre readerships tend to congregate on different ones. Look at the social media of successful self published and traditionally published authors in your genre. See what they’re doing and figure out what’s working. Then do that.
Follow and interact with readers and writers in your genre. Create catchy content that fits the vibe of what is working on your feed. Use analytics tools to improve.
There are lots of tools and guides out there to using social media, from gaming the algorithm, using the best hashtags and keywords, posting at the ideal times, and creating the most ‘viral’ content. You can use a program like Canva to create images and videos.
You can go deep down the social media rabbit hole. There are third party services and platforms that let you post different content and compare its performance. The best thing to do is tons of research, then noodle around with the different dashboards and tools available.
How Successful Authors Use Social Media
The Ultimate Social Media Guide for Writers
Social Media Writer Guide
Of course, those links above just scratch the surface of what’s out there. Start working on this, and you’ll soon discover what you need to figure out. Then search for tutorials or guides on that.
Hire Marketing Help
If you are struggling with marketing your book and want to hire a marketing professional specifically to help with this, there are people out there who will lend their expertise to you in exchange for some money.
Know exactly what you want to hire for - design and copywriting to create effective content? One-on-one coaching and tutoring for you on understanding the back-end of running Amazon ads? A pre-packaged ad campaign they’ll run for you?
Be careful that you are hiring a professional with credentials in exactly what you are trying to do - run Amazon ads, build an Instagram following, create frequent click-worthy videos, etc. Do not fall for scammy “publishing services.” Check someone out on Writer Beware and/or look for reviews on other websites (not just theirs!) Ask to see work they’ve done for other clients and their data on how well it worked.
You could look for a social media marketing company like this one or this one  - search for digital marketing or social media marketing -, or an author-specific one like the ones listed here. These are all just examples - I don’t vouch for any of these and have never used any of them.

Quote
Most of the positive cashflow generated by Amazon.com doesn’t come from product sales, but from advertising. The website is primarily a conduit for delivering ads to consumers and collecting ad revenue from sellers. The merchandise delivered to your doors is just a means of harvesting your data and serving you ads on behalf of their real clients – the advertisers. Similar realities hold for Prime Video: Amazon typically spends more on acquiring content than they take in from subscription revenues and digital rentals or purchases. The main point of the digital content is, likewise, to collect consumer data, deliver ads, and expand consumption of content on behalf of Amazon’s clients. The Alexa-powered Echo devices follow the same logic. They were intended as tools to harvest user data and deliver ads. The devices themselves were typically sold at cost or at a loss. But, to date, the company has been unable to successfully monetize the Echo, so they shut down most of that division and discontinued its products. They’re now trying to launch a new line of Echo devices that use AI-tools to better harvest user data and nudge people towards buying particular products or consuming specific content on behalf of advertisers. It remains to be seen if this latest venture will also flop. But, critically, none of these initiatives are Amazon’s main source of revenue. That honor goes to their Amazon Web Service data collection, analytics and storage enterprise. AWS is their primary breadwinner and it’s not even close.

Why a Digital Marketing Agency Beats Freelancers in 2025
In a fast-moving digital world, businesses are confronted with a tough choice in 2025: to hire a freelance individual or a full-service digital marketing organization? As with many other decisions in our lives, there are advantages and disadvantages to hiring a freelancer versus going with an agency. In the case of the task at hand, it was possible that the freelancer could be cost-effective and/or flexible in their approach than an agency. However, considering all things digital marketing can change so quickly, I feel it is better for the business to go with a scalable agency. After all, digital marketing is not a process with a beginning and an end; it is best viewed as a process with a process over the long-run to receive all advantages out of your work. And a freelancer cannot provide that. This blog will discuss why hiring a digital marketing agency is the best option in 2025, and how on the whole provide far more comprehensible digital marketing options than a single person can provide.
1. Full-Service Digital Marketing Solutions
Unlike freelancers, who often specialize in one or two areas, a digital marketing company in Jaipur like W3Teck offers a complete suite of digital marketing services:
SEO in Digital Marketing
Social Media Marketing Services
Google Advertising and PPC Services
Web Design & Development
Mobile App Development
Ecommerce SEO and management services
These integrated solutions mean your campaigns are aligned, your messaging is consistent, and your brand grows across all channels.
2. Expertise Across Multiple Domains
Digital marketing today is far more than SEO or running a few ads. It’s about combining skills in copywriting, meta-ads, Google search ads, ecommerce SEO, Amazon account management services, and app development.
Agencies employ experts in each of these domains:
SEO Specialists and SEO experts to manage rankings
Certified google ads specialist and Facebook Ads Managers
Web designers and app developers for performance and UX
Content strategists and copywriters for better engagement
A freelancer simply can’t match this level of specialization and teamwork.
3. Scalable Campaigns and Reliable Delivery
A common problem with freelancers is bandwidth. As your marketing needs grow, a freelancer might struggle to keep up. Agencies, on the other hand, are built to scale.
Need to run a YouTube video promotion, design ecommerce websites, and launch meta ads simultaneously? An agency has dedicated departments to execute all these tasks without delay or compromise.
4. Data-Driven Strategies and Transparent Reporting
Leading digital marketing agencies use data to drive decisions. With access to tools like:
Google Analytics
Fb Ads Manage
Heatmaps and conversion tracking tools
Advanced PPC Advertising dashboards
agencies ensure every rupee spent is measurable and optimized. Freelancers may not offer real-time reporting or insights, and you may end up flying blind.
5. Access to Premium Tools and Platforms
Premium tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, SurferSEO, and paid ad intelligence platforms can cost thousands monthly. The best seo agencies and marketing firms already have access to these tools and include them in your package.
This gives your brand a competitive edge without the extra expense.
6. Better ROI with Strategic Campaigns
Digital marketing companies craft long-term strategies tailored to your business model. Whether you’re an ecommerce company, a mobile app developer, or a local service provider, agencies analyze your market, customer personas, and competitive landscape to build data-backed campaigns.
Freelancers often focus on task execution, not on holistic brand strategy or revenue-driven campaigns.
7. Compliance, Quality Control, and Brand Safety
2025 brings stricter regulations around user data, AI-generated content, and ad compliance. A social media marketing company in India must now ensure:
Ad policy compliance across platforms
Ethical usage of data and AI
Unified brand messaging and tone
Agencies have compliance teams or SOPs in place. Freelancers rarely do.
8. Reliability and Project Management
Agencies operate with structured workflows, deadlines, and deliverables. With project managers, account strategists, and performance analysts on board, you never have to chase someone for updates.
Freelancers might go unresponsive during personal emergencies, vacations, or if overloaded. Business momentum suffers.
9. Cross-Channel Marketing Mastery
Marketing in 2025 demands omni channel presence. A single campaign may involve:
Google Search Ads
Facebook Meta Ads
Instagram Marketing
LinkedIn Ads
Amazon and Flipkart marketing
Email automation
Web push notifications
Only an agency can build and manage this ecosystem seamlessly.
10. Long-Term Partnership for Business Growth
Freelancers often operate on a short-term, task-based model. the best marketing agencies however, align their success with your business growth.
They constantly refine strategies, test new platforms, and update tactics to ensure consistent revenue and brand value growth.
11. Dedicated Support, Consultation, and Strategy Building
A reputable agency doesn’t just execute campaigns — they become your marketing partner. Expect dedicated support, regular consultations, strategic brainstorming sessions, and periodic reviews. These consultations lead to better budgeting, brand positioning, and faster decision-making, giving your business the edge it needs.
12. More Cost Efficient in the Long Run
Freelancers may offer cheaper services phase by phase, but agencies are often much more efficacious in the end. Their process is repetitive, which cuts down on the chances of mistakes, keeps lengthy revisions down, and makes for better conversions. Plus, agencies can often find separate ways of productizing their services to offer you tools, reports and consulting that you would pay extra for a la carte if you were contracting separate freelancers to accomplish these things independently.
Conclusion: Go with a Digital Marketing Agency for 2025 and Beyond
Having a Digital marketing agency is no longer just a nice to have, it is a must have for any business looking to exist or grow within digital in 2025. SEO digital marketing complete ecommerce solutions, google business advertising, app development - all of this can be accomplished with an agency that has loads of experience across the board.
A quick note if you are looking for the best digital marketing agency has proven results, offers end-to-end services, and has a transparent communication style: W3Teck is the best option for you.
The sooner you invest in a partner to grow smarter, scale faster, and benefit from their knowledge and expertise, the only question you will have is what to do with the extra time you have as your marketing becomes more effective and efficient.

The Future of E-commerce: Trends, Technology, and Transformation
E-commerce has revolutionized how the world shops, and the pace of this evolution shows no sign of slowing down. In the last two decades, we've gone from slow-loading online catalogs to AI-driven, hyper-personalized shopping experiences available at the tap of a smartphone. As we look toward the future, it becomes clear that e-commerce is not merely a convenient alternative to brick-and-mortar shopping—it’s shaping into an intelligent, immersive, and integrated ecosystem. From augmented reality (AR) to drone deliveries, the coming years will redefine the very fabric of consumerism. Here's a deep dive into the future of e-commerce and the trends that are shaping it.
Tumblr media
The Future Of E-commerce In India
1. AI and Personalization: Smarter Shopping Experiences
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already embedded in e-commerce through chatbots, recommendation engines, and predictive analytics. But in the future, AI will evolve from a helpful tool to a cornerstone of every online retail experience. Imagine an e-commerce platform that not only knows what you like but also predicts what you’ll need before you even realize it.
AI will enable hyper-personalization, tailoring product suggestions, discounts, and marketing messages based on user behavior, browsing patterns, past purchases, and even emotional cues detected from facial recognition or voice tone (in the case of smart devices). This will result in increased customer satisfaction and retention, as shoppers will feel uniquely catered to.
2. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality: Try Before You Buy
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are poised to bridge the gap between physical and digital shopping. AR allows customers to visualize products in their real-world environment—like placing a virtual couch in your living room using your smartphone camera. VR, on the other hand, can offer fully immersive shopping environments that mimic the in-store experience.
Retailers like IKEA, Sephora, and Warby Parker are already using AR to enhance customer confidence and reduce returns. As the technology becomes more mainstream and affordable, smaller businesses will also adopt it, making virtual try-ons and immersive product demos a norm in online shopping.
3. Voice Commerce and Conversational Shopping
With the proliferation of smart speakers like Amazon Echo and Google Nest, voice commerce is gaining traction. Voice-enabled shopping allows users to search for products, place orders, and track shipments simply by speaking to their devices.
In the near future, voice assistants will become more conversational, capable of understanding complex queries and offering context-aware suggestions. This hands-free, frictionless mode of shopping will particularly appeal to multitaskers and busy households, making it an integral part of the e-commerce landscape.
4. Sustainability and Ethical Commerce
Modern consumers, especially Gen Z and millennials, are increasingly concerned about the ethical and environmental impact of their purchases. E-commerce companies are responding by investing in sustainable practices—like biodegradable packaging, carbon-neutral shipping, and transparent sourcing.
Future e-commerce platforms will likely include filters for “eco-friendly,” “ethically sourced,” or “locally made” products. Brands that can prove their commitment to sustainability through verified practices will enjoy greater loyalty and market share.
Blockchain technology may also play a role in ethical commerce, providing transparent, tamper-proof records of a product’s supply chain and ensuring authenticity for things like organic certifications or fair trade sourcing.
5. Omnichannel Integration: Seamless Shopping Across Platforms
The future of e-commerce isn't limited to websites. It’s increasingly blending across platforms—social media, mobile apps, physical stores, and even smart TVs. This omnichannel approach ensures a unified customer experience, regardless of where or how a person shops.
For instance, a customer may discover a product on Instagram, research it on their laptop, try it in AR on a mobile app, and finally purchase it via voice assistant—all without losing their shopping cart, preferences, or data. The brands that can offer this seamless continuity will lead the way in customer satisfaction.
6. Faster, Smarter Fulfillment and Delivery
Consumer expectations for delivery speed are higher than ever. Thanks to Amazon Prime, two-day or even same-day shipping has become a baseline for convenience. In the future, we’ll see even faster fulfillment through automation, robotics, and drone deliveries.
Warehouses will be run by AI-powered robots capable of picking, packing, and shipping with incredible efficiency. Last-mile delivery, often the most expensive and time-consuming part of logistics, may be handled by autonomous vehicles or drones, especially in urban environments.
Additionally, micro-fulfillment centers located within cities will help brands store popular products closer to their customers, speeding up delivery and reducing environmental impact.
7. Cryptocurrency and New Payment Methods
The future of e-commerce will likely include a broader array of payment methods. Digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay are already mainstream, but cryptocurrency is slowly entering the retail space as well.
As blockchain technology becomes more scalable and secure, crypto payments may offer a decentralized, low-fee, and global payment alternative. Some companies are already accepting Bitcoin and Ethereum for online purchases, and this trend is expected to grow—particularly in cross-border commerce, where traditional currency exchange can be slow and costly.
Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options will also continue to evolve, with more flexible financing models being integrated directly into the checkout process.
8. Social Commerce: Shopping Through Social Media
Social media is no longer just a place to discover products—it’s becoming the platform where purchases happen. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Pinterest are now equipped with direct shopping features that let users buy products without ever leaving the app.
In the future, influencer-led commerce and live-stream shopping will grow. Influencers can host live product demos with real-time purchasing options, combining entertainment and shopping in a way that resonates with younger audiences.
9. Artificial Storefronts and Digital Twins
As AI continues to evolve, we may see the rise of AI-generated storefronts, tailored specifically for individual users. Instead of browsing a generic website, users may interact with a dynamically generated storefront based on their tastes, browsing history, and current interests.
Similarly, digital twins—virtual replicas of stores or products—could allow users to explore entire retail environments digitally, perhaps even through VR headsets. This would offer a near-tangible experience from the comfort of home.
10. Globalization and Localization
E-commerce allows businesses to reach global markets, but success often depends on localizing the experience. This includes language, currency, cultural relevance, and even logistics infrastructure.
In the future, smart platforms will be able to localize on-the-fly, adapting everything from product recommendations to advertising tone based on the user's region. At the same time, businesses will benefit from global infrastructure tools that make international shipping, customs compliance, and foreign exchange seamless.
