you have changed ! pt.2 Thorin oakenshield x reader
Tumblr media
(I am not English)
Warning : none
good reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~
short summary
The company was captured by goblins, but fortunately Gandalf arrived. I could see the potency of all the dwarves at the fight and that Dwalin had lost nothing in the power of his punches.
We came out unscathed, incroyable, right?
Even the hobbit that we thought for the most part lost and that Thorin despised even more, and he appeared more motivated than ever.
All seem to be getting better, until heard in the distance a ord of wargs.
We have all climbed in the trees that this found at the edge of the cliff.
All seemed lost, the King was on the ground and the flames circled us.              But in an element of courage a few dwarves are hoisting on the branches and this sound throw on the wargs and orcs.                                                                 Dori, Ori and I did not do it , the two brothers were in a very bad position, suspended in the void at Gandalf’s stick, as for me, I was badly landed on the branch, which almost knocked me out.
But it’s all over, the eagles have arrived, and Thorin has apologized to Bilbo.
5 months later
~~~~~~~~
I was between Fili and Kiri who bet on everything and anything, example : which of the two will manage to steal an axe from Dwalin, where which one runs the fastest or which one will give Balin the biggest headache.
I looked straight ahead, without saying anything or even meaning to participate in their nonsense, which is unusual, and the two brothers noticed it.
how you doing, orc head ? ; says kili
you can see she’s not well, idiot, tell us what’s wrong, goblin ; says Fili
I lift up my eyes to heaven, and give them a blow to the head.
it’s all right, morons, I’m just concentrating on the way ;
says rather about our uncle ; says Fili raising an eyebrow and with a smile full of malice
indeed at the head of the group was Thorin, I was at the end, but I could clearly see his back
what are you talking about ;
nothing, forget it ; says Fili by winking at me
i have a challenge for all three of us ; says Kili moving his arms hysterically
the first to steal one of Thorin's hair beads won ;
i bet you I can do it by noon tomorrow ; says Fili
and I bet you I’d steal two of them ; says Kili
they turned to me, with a wide smile and raised eyebrows
Pff, okay, I just bet you I’m the one who’s gonna win ;
The day went by without a problem, Fili and Kili did not stop circling around their uncle, who now suspects what. Bravo, it will be impossible to win
Besides, we don’t talk too much, since the Godelins, our only "conversations" is we eat, we go and you are still as stupid as when you were a child, but often it’s black look, and severe.
We eat ! ; say together Gloin and Oin
The night has fallen fast, the dwarves are all going to bed
If you have anything to do, do it now ; says Gandalf with a wink
he knew, I’m not even surprised,                                                                      Well, like he says, I don’t have time to waste, where is Thorin, I didn’t see him go to bed.
we had placed our camp at the bottom of a small hill from where we could see the Lonely Mountain
He can only be here, it’s gonna be harder to robb him if he’s awake, but if I want to win...
I start to climb, I got to the top quickly, a magnificent view is offered to me, the stars shone so strong, we can see clearly . But no Thorin in sight
what do you want ; i jumped in amazement
it was of course Thorin, he was sitting on a tree trunk
The King under the mountain would let me sit by his side ? ;
And then you sulk when I tell you you’re still a cheeky child ;
he moves slightly so I can sit
the view is splendid, I had never seen the mountain before, I must say that I never follow go so far from home ;
what do you want ; we looked straight ahead of us
but you’ve never been this close in a long time ;
I don’t know why I said that (rule number 6 of Dis, we don’t talk about the mountain to Thorin unless he tells us first)
tell me what you want before I send you home ;
oh no, don’t do that, I didn’t even tell my parents where I was going ;
you didn’t warn them ? ;
eheheheh, it’s time to think about a plan to have this pearl !
actress mode engaged ~
yes, but it doesn’t matter anyway, they’re not anymore
what do you mean, they’re gone ? ; He turns his head
they're dead ; (which is obviously a lie)
but what do you want, I have to do whatever it takes to win
my head fell into my hands, if I could cry on demand it would have helped me
I do my best not to laugh, stress maybe or it’s because I can’t wait to mocked  the brothers when I say I won
there was a long silence
I feel a hand on my back
I lift my head from surprise, I did not expect to have such physical contact with him
Thorin was close, our legs were touching, he always had his hand on my back. His blue gray eyes were looking at me carefully It was not a severe look as usual but a worried look.
I smiled softly at him
It’s all right, helping you get back to your place reminds me of something else ;
he turns his face towards the mountain, always his hand behind my back
soon, we will finally be home ;
I have an excess of confidence all of a sudden (and who tries nothing has nothing) so I put my head on his shoulder and close my eyes.
I couldn’t see his reaction, but he must have been surprised
his shoulder is so comfortable, I think I’m going to fall asleep soon
in fact, That’s what I did
~~
I wake up slowly, I would have thought I saw the stars but the sun was already rising
I was lying on the trunk, with a green apple on the ground
I get up, fang in the apple try to remind me what happened after seeing my head paused on his shoulder
I paused my head on his shoulder!! but why did I do it? arghhh, I would have the right to reprimands, nice
bla bla bla grows a bit ; I made a blazer face
what have I done to have such an unconscious load ;  I did his usual black look
by Durin spare me, his children will have my death ; I stood up and started to make a big gesture
I continued to imitate him, when I felt that there was something in my hand
~~
good mooooorning guys ; I said in a conquering tone
y/n ; says Fili
where were you ? ; says Kili
guessed what I found ; said I raising an eyebrow
they looked at each other with an air of incomprehension on their face
what ??? ; said both, and loud enough for the dwarves close to us to turn around
Shhhhh ; I opened my hand to show them
it was a pearl, but not any pearl, a pearl of Thorin himself
how ? ; says Fili, disturbed
how did you do it? we tried all morning ; said Kili, angry at having lost
tell us ! ; said the brothers
Well, a magician never reveals his secrets ;
Gandalf started to laugh
what’s happening ? ; says Dwalin
why does Monsieur Gandalf laugh ; says Dori
'Cause of your face, you stupid idiot ! ; said Nori
a fight between some dwarf broke out, while the others mocked them
Fili and Kili were far away, too discouraged to have lost
I looked at the little pearl in my hand, I had won, I had earned the privilege of make fun of them at least until the end of the journey
but how? how the pearl landed here
I felt someone pass behind me and he took place next to me
you owe me your victory, so you owe me a favor now ;
then he went to the disordered group of dwarves, and howled in Khuzdul something I did not understand, but it immediately calmed everyone down, even me who had nothing to do with their fight.
once everyone is ready, we return to the path left last night
But contrary to yesterday, the brothers do only very small challenges (the first one that arrives at the big tree there, ....), for which I confess that I participated.
But the big difference between yesterday and today, is that now things between Thorin and me, will, how shall I put it, improve?

Of course! This is so cute! Sorry, I know this took a hot minute, but I apparently don’t have the ability to write short drabbles (and of course my internet went out for like an hour when I was ready to post 🙄). I hope you don’t mind it went a little long, hopefully you enjoy this!

--
The tentative hand tugging on your pencil skirt was right on time. With a smile, you sat the stack of book returns on the shelf and turned to smile at your favorite visitor. As soon as she saw she had your attention, June held up the most recent book you’d recommended to her, beaming as she said excitedly,
“Zero found his mom! I was happy he was gonna live with Stanley but now he has his her too!”
“See? And you were worried it wasn’t gonna be a happy ending,” you teased the enthusiastic seven-year-old as you crouched down to her level. “Did you like it?”
June nodded enthusiastically, her blonde curls bouncing wildly with the movement. “I loved it! I would’a been so scared with all those lizards though! I don’t know how Zero and Stanley were so brave!”
“It’s not easy to be brave, but doing the right thing can show you that you’re a lot stronger than you might believe,” you told her, and to your surprise you saw uncertainty clouding her soft blue eyes.
“Miss (Y/N), do you think I could be brave?”
You nodded and reached up giving her chin a gentle squeeze before you stood. “You already are. I mean, you walk here from school every day by yourself. That’s pretty brave, if you ask me.”
To your surprise, June dropped her eyes and gave her small shoulders a dismissive shrug. “I’m not as brave as my big brother. He can climb all the way to the top of our tree and I’m too scared to even go past the first branch.”
As you did every Wednesday, you rested a hand on June’s shoulder and led her with you over to the children’s section of the library. Instead of instantly taking her to seek out a new book for the week, you led her to the reading nook and nudged her towards one of the chairs as you sat across from her.
“You remember Dr. Reid, don’t you?” you prompted, and June’s smile flickered back to her face as she gave an eager nod. How could she not? Spencer had come by the Story Circle – a kids book club you hosted every Saturday – and had eagerly joined in on your discussion of that month’s book, The Hobbit.
Though not [as] gifted as Spencer Reid (honestly, you didn’t think anyone else really was), June was an incredibly smart little girl and read well over her normal age group. It turned out that The Hobbit was one of her favorite books, and she and Spencer had spent hours talking about it after the club had ended.
“Well, he’s an FBI agent. Remember?” June nodded again. “Do you think he’s brave?”
“He is,” she confirmed instantly, and a smile came to your face. “He’s probably the bravest person ever!”
“I think so too,” you admitted, grinning back at her. But you think your brother’s pretty brave too, huh?”
June nodded, a little slower this time, trying to figure out the point you were about to make. “But he’s not an FBI agent like Dr. Reid.”
“He’s not. But he can still be brave, because there are different kinds of braveness in the world. Dr. Reid goes out and finds bad guys, and your brother can climb trees and not get scared.” June’s brow furrowed as you added pointedly, “and you walk all the way to the library by yourself. Everyone’s brave in their own way, but Dr. Reid’s bravery isn’t any different from yours. They’re all just as important, and all just as impressive.”
June’s smile took up her whole face, and to your surprise she hopped off her chair and rushed over to hug you tight. You laughed and hugged her back as she said, “thank you Miss (Y/N). you know what?” You pulled back and raised a brow at her in question. “You’re just like Gandalf. You’re wise and you always say things that make other people feel better. Like he does with Bilbo!”
You laughed with her as you got to your feet, taking her hand to lead her towards the shelves you wanted. “So then does that make you Bilbo?”
“Uh-huh. And Dr. Reid is Thorin, ‘cause he’s really smart and clever, but he’s really nice too. And he’s a leader. And he’s probably brave enough to fight Smaug.”
“I bet you’re right,” you agreed, already looking forward to telling Spencer all about this tonight. He loves little kids, and knowing June thought about him so highly would definitely make his day. “You know, speaking of bravery and dragons… I think I know a good book for you this week.”
You paused at the end of one of the aisles and knelt down – June following your movement – and you tugged out a book you’d been waiting to recommend to her. She took your offering and studied the cover as she read out,
“The Two Princesses of Bamarre?”
“Yep. Do you remember reading Ella Enchanted last month?” June nodded slowly. “This was written by the same author. It’s about a little sister who has to be really brave and go on an adventure to save her big sister. There’s dragons, ogres, and fairies in this one.”
June’s eyes widened with every word, and as you both stood she peeked up at you. “And true love?”
That was what the two of you shared – you were both hopeless romantics.
“Would I give you a fairytale story without that?” June giggled and shook her head. You nudged her gently back towards the reading nook, knowing her mom wouldn’t be by to pick her up for another hour at least. “I’ve got to finish putting the books away, so you get started on that and see if you like it, alright?”
“Thanks Miss (Y/N)!” she said eagerly, already cracking the book open on her way. You just grinned and shook your head as you headed back to the books you’d left on the shelf. The front desk phone ringing hadn’t even caught your attention, and you were just grabbing the books again when the other librarian Amy came bustling over to you, handset held out.
“It’s Stafford Hospital asking for you,” she whispered, and instantly your stomach flipped. Why was a hospital several cities over be calling for you? Warily you took the handset and said,
“This is (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N).”
“Miss (Y/L/N), this is Nurse Lesser from Stafford Hospital. We’re calling you because you’re listed as the emergency medical contact for Spencer Reid.”
You nearly dropped the phone, sucking in a sharp breath as your heart skittered to a stop. “Oh my god, is he okay?”
“I’m sorry ma’am, I’m not able to go into specifics right now, but if you’d be able to come down and speak with –“
“Yes, yes, I’m on my way,” you said quickly, already racing for the front desk. As soon as the call ended you practically threw the handset back to Amy as you grabbed your purse. “I’ve got to go, I’m so sorry. I’ll see you later!”
Amy didn’t even get a chance to respond before you were booking it to your car.
The normally fifteen minute drive to the hospital took you less than ten; you’d be sure not to ever mention how many traffic laws you’d broken to get there so fast. Not that you really cared about that, though. Your mind was in overdrive, heart stuttering painfully against your ribs, lungs refusing to let you get a full breath. All you could hear was emergency medical contact for Spencer Reid.
Heels and all, you practically sprinted through the ER parking lot, desperate to find out what had happened. You and Spencer had been dating for just about five months now, and though he’d listed you as his contact as soon as you’d made things official, this was the first call you’d ever gotten for it. You knew dating an FBI agent came with risks like this, but you really hadn’t been prepared for the instant panic and fear that came with knowing Spencer had been hurt.
Once inside, though, you had no idea where to go or what to do. Maybe you should’ve thought to ask that during the call, but you’d flown into panic hyperdrive and had been on a one-track-mind purpose of getting to your boyfriend as fast as possible.
You paused in the lobby for several moments, looking around desperately until you spotted someone that looked like a nurse.
“Excuse me!” you called, racing after him. The young man paused and looked back at you as you asked quickly, “I-I got a call. I’m an emergency contact for a patient –“
“Which patient, ma’am?” he asked, glancing down at a clipboard in his hand.
“Dr. Spencer Reid. He’s with the FBI, I don’t know – they wouldn’t tell me what’s wrong –“
“I’m sorry ma’am, he’s not one of my patients. If you want to wait in the lobby –“
“You don’t understand. I need to know – can you just please find out where he is? Spencer Reid. R-E-I-D. They just called me –“
“I’m sorry, did you say Spencer Reid?” a woman asked from behind you. As soon as you were distracted the nurse practically bolted from your side, but you were too busy studying the group of people behind you.
The woman who had spoken – a petite, beautiful blonde – was coming up to you, confused concern on her face. You recognized her instantly from Spencer’s description of his team, and for a moment you worried he’d be upset. He hadn’t wanted you to meet his coworkers just yet – and certainly not like this – but right now that didn’t matter.
“You must be JJ,” you started, not missing the blink of alarm she gave you as she nodded slowly.
“Yeah… I am. I’m sorry, who are you?”
Oh, right. That had probably been a lot creepier than you’d meant.
“No, I’m sorry. That was super weird of me. I’m (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N), Spencer’s girlfriend. He’s told me all about you guys.”
JJ and the others behind her all made noises of surprise. One of the men you recognized as Derek Morgan actually choked on his coffee as he spluttered, “I’m sorry, you’re what now?!”
Heat flooded your cheeks when you realized everyone was staring at you like you’d just sprouted a second head. Nervously you brought your hands together in front of you, fingers twisting together as you repeated a little quieter, “um, I’m Spencer’s girlfriend?”
“Spencer has a –“ a beautiful dark-haired woman scoffed, mouth hanging open as she tried to think of a way to finish that sentence. She must be Emily. “I had no idea Spencer had a girlfriend.”
“Surprise?” you offered, almost instantly cringing at how stupid that was. Thankfully, one of the older men seated behind the others gave an amused snort. Derek, Emily, and JJ all turned to stare at him as Emily asked incredulously,
“What, did you know about this, Rossi?”
“Of course not,” the man – apparently David Rossi – scoffed as he nodded at you. “But unlike you all it doesn’t surprise me that our resident genius would be dating a beautiful librarian. It doesn’t get any more Spencer Reid than that.”
Your cheeks were burning now as the others made noises of agreement. The last man to speak stepped forward and held out his hand to you.
“As I assume you already know, I’m Aaron Hotchner.”
“Spencer’s unit chief,” you confirmed, shaking his hand. “Though I never pictured it like this, it’s really great to meet you all finally.”
“It’s great to know you exist,” Derek quipped; Emily smacked his arm.
“You don’t know why Spence is here?” JJ prompted, and the surprise of meeting your boyfriend’s team flickered out the moment you remembered why you were here. At the look you gave her she said quickly, “don’t worry, he’s fine. He was cut by an UnSub we were chasing and he needed some stitches. We’re just waiting for the doctor to give us the clear to see him.”
Rossi patted the chair beside him and invited, “you’re more than welcome to sit with us, if we haven’t scared you off.”
“Of course not,” you smiled, taking him up on his offer and settling beside him. The others gathered a little closer, clearly ready to learn more about you. Derek wasted no time on jumping into the questions.
“So (Y/N), how long have you and Reid been dating?”
“Five months on the 18th,” you told him with a smile. His eyes widened in surprise and he made a noise of absolute shock.
“You’ve been datin’ for almost half a year and we didn’t know you existed?!”
“Um, surprise again?” you offered, getting a snort out of JJ this time. “I’m sorry. Spencer said he was waiting for the right time. He wanted to give us time to get comfortable with our relationship and make sure things were serious, and then things have just kept coming up. He definitely didn’t want to spring it on you like… well, exactly like it just happened…”
“He was going to tell us at the Halloween party, wasn’t he?” Emily asked you, and at the bewildered head nod you gave her she explained, “he was insistent we would all be there, and when we had to fly out on a case he was really upset. I thought it was just because he has an unnatural love for Halloween, but…”
“Wait,” JJ cut in, snapping her fingers. “When we invited him to lunch last week and he’d said he had to return a library book…”
The team around you ahh’d as they all chuckled. You looked around, still not getting their amusement, but thankfully Rossi caught on to your uncertainty.
“Reid’s been acting dodgy with us lately, and we’ve all been trying to pinpoint it. I can honestly tell you it’s a relief to know he’s in a relationship, not the mob.”
“You’re the only one that thought that,” Emily started, and from behind her, Aaron cleared his throat.
“No he wasn’t.”
The others turned to give him incredulous looks as JJ asked him, “you actually thought Spencer Reid was in the mob?”
“Hey, you and JJ thought he was in a fight club!” Rossi defended, and this time you had to snort.
“A fight club?” you laughed; Emily just offered a shrug as JJ said,
“He had bruises on his – oh.”
Ah, there was the burning in your cheeks again. The others laughed as Derek rubbed his hands together, looking around.
“Guess this means you all owe me your bets.” At the noise of protest around him, he said quickly, “I was the closest! I said he was crushin’ on someone!”
“You guys had money on his caginess?” you asked them with a bemused laugh. JJ, Rossi, and Hotch gave you apologetic smiles as Emily argued,
“That doesn’t count. Garcia wins, she said he had a secret girlfriend.”
“That’s not even fair,” Derek grumbled, shaking his head and crossing his arms irritably. “How is it the only one of us that was right is the one who isn’t even a profiler?”
Before they could go any further a voice called out, “I’m looking for Spencer Reid’s emergency contact, Miss (Y/L/N)?”
Instantly you scrambled out of your seat, rushing past the others to the Doctor peering down at you.
“Yes, that’s me. Is Spencer okay?”
“Yes ma’am. I’m happy to report he’s just fine,” he assured, and the group around you all made noises of relief. “He needed a decent amount of stitches but the blood loss was minimal and luckily there won’t be any long term damage. He’s ready for visitors, if you’d like me to take you back.”
Though you wanted to see him you didn’t feel right stepping in front of his team. They were his family and he’d known them all much longer than he’d known you. But when you looked back at them, JJ and Emily ushered you to go first.
“Go warn him that we’ve met, because as soon as we see him, he ain’t livin’ this down,” Derek assured you, giving a playful grin. With a laugh, you just gave a nod and followed the Doctor back into the patient rooms.
Spencer looked up at the sound of your heels, a huge smile spreading over his face. Though you instantly smiled back, you made a noise of distress seeing his bandaged arm. Rushing to his side, you gingerly took his arm and held it up, running your fingers lightly over the wrappings.
“Baby, are you okay?” you asked softly, looking up at him in concern. Spencer smiled and reached out, cupping your face with his free hand and brushing his thumb over your cheek in comfort.
“I’m just fine. I’m so sorry, I wanted to call and let you know what’d happened, but I left my phone in the SUV. I know the call from the hospital had to have taken you by surprise.”
“You know…” you started, giving him a smile as you leaned into his touch. “Not as much as finding your team in the waiting room did.”
He actually gasped, his mouth dropping into a shocked ‘O’ as he stared at you in mild horror. “Oh no. I – I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I didn’t even think about that. I didn’t mean to throw you to them like that –“
“Spencer it’s okay,” you laughed. “It wasn’t what we’d talked about but I liked meeting them. Although apparently they were making bets about why you kept ducking out of things with them.”
He frowned, an adorable pout coming over his face. “They do that a lot. And they give [me] a hard time for being from Vegas…”
With a laugh, you finally let go of his arm and reached up, cupping his face with both your hands and pulling him down into a kiss. He hummed against your lips, the hand on your cheek sliding into your hair to hold you to him. Your lips moved against one another softly, tongues brushing briefly before you broke apart to keep from going farther.
“I’m really glad you’re okay,” you said softly, letting your fingers slide over his face to sweep his hair back behind his ears. “Did you catch the guy that did this?”
He nodded, a hint of pride in his soft brown eyes as he gave you a smile. “I did, actually. We managed to stop him before he killed a teen, and even did it without him taking his own life. He cut into me instead of his neck. It was close.”
You knew how bad that must’ve shaken him. Spencer had told you his hardest cases were the ones he had to watch someone take their life, almost more so than the cases with kids. To hear he’d been the hero warmed you to your core, and you knew exactly what would make him even happier.
“It’s funny, I was just telling June about how brave Dr. Reid was, and you go and prove me right.”
As expected, Spencer’s face lit up with a smile at that and he sat up a little taller. “You told her I was brave?”
“I did,” you confirmed. “And it’s been decided that she’s Bilbo, I’m Gandalf, and you’re Thorin.”
“I’m Thorin?” he asked in surprise, and you gave an eager nod. “Why?”
“According to June, you’re smart, nice, and clever. She’s a pretty perceptive first grader.”
Of all the things you loved about Spencer, his genuine humility was one of his best qualities. You knew he didn’t see himself for the incredible man he truly was, and watching the soft blush on his cheeks at June’s compliment warmed your heart even further.
Before you could sweet talk your boyfriend any further, though, you heard commotion in the hallway. The rest of Spencer’s team all piled into the room, with Derek in the lead, a phone to his ear.
“Oh yeah, baby girl. I’ve got him right here. I’ll let him tell you why he kept his girlfriend from us for five months.”
Spencer’s eyes widened as Derek held out the phone; he shook his head and Derek gave a deadpan frown. When Spencer refused again, his friend stepped up and pressed the phone to his face.
“No, Morgan, I don’t – oh, uh, hey Garcia –“
You could hear the squeaking of a very upset woman on the other end and you laughed along with the team as JJ and Emily came up on either side of you.
“So, (Y/N), how does dinner with the team Saturday night sound?” Emily mused, and JJ elaborated,
“We have about six months of embarrassing Reid to make up for, and Rossi makes a mean lasagna. You in?”
“Oh, I’m definitely in,” you laughed, catching Spencer’s eye as he rambled off a desperate apology to the phone in Derek’s hand. He raised his brows to you, silently asking, is this okay?
The smile and wink you gave him assured that yes, this was better than okay. This was as close to perfect as meeting someone’s family would ever get.

Celebrating Durin’s Day was always an event. Not just an event – through every celebration in Erebor was a huge thing so far – but it was the event of the year. The dwarves spended months of preparations just for this celebration, but they didn’t seemed to be too bothered by it. No. They were excited. Excited to celebrate, especially when The Lonely Mountain was reclaimed back and the Durin’s line survived the battle of five armies.
Thorin was a great king, there was no doubt about it. It was a two years of time since Erebor was reclaimed back, and even if nobody from the Company didn’t insisted you to stay, you deep down knew they did it just so you wouldn’t feel pressured and were ovejoyed when you said you’ll stay with them. Why would you say no, anyways? They became a close family to you through the quest.
After the battle, when a part of dwarves arrived, Fili and Kili got a stunning idea – that you’d meet their mother, Dis. You’ve heard about her from stories they told you and you were nervous that she won’t like you, but oh boy, you were proved wrong! You two became a good friends, you were even something like a daughter to her.
Especially when Fili or Kili (or both of them) would prank you, she was unstoppable. In those moments you realized that they didn’t lied when talked that she made sure they’d apologize. Properly.
It was a two days until Durin’s Day and you were in the kitchens. It was late afternoon and the cooks got their work quickly done, thanks to some cooks from Dale, who helped them out. Now, you were making an apple pie, chatting with Dis and wondering when will Fili and Kili show up. They didn’t got too many duties today, thanks to Thorin, who was busy by some last details about the celebration, so they were free by noon.
Soft golden light was creeping inside, and if you would look out from the windows, you’d see trees with leaves coloured in many different shades from yellow, orange and red, to brown. The whole Erebor now smelled like old leaves, warm spices, tea, apples and pears, in addition to usual smell that has been there. It created nice mix and it made you to feel warm and safe.
You huffed and placed your flour-covered hands on your hips, frowning down on the pie. Dis noticed your intense stare and followed your gaze.
„It looks very nice, dear. Don’t feel discouraged, I’m sure it will be much better than last year.“ You both giggled.
Last year was Bombur and Bilbo teaching you and the Durin’s brothers to bake pies and pasteries with apples, because there was a lot of them. Also as a punishment, when they wanted to prank Bofur and didn’t counted on Thorin and Dain walking right into it, instead of Bofur. You didn’t did it with them, of course, you just wanted to learn how to bake.
Long story short, it was the last time everyone have seen Kili and Fili to cook, as far as you knew. To bake, too. Because as much as they could fight and throw pranks, that much they couldn’t cook, and accidently, their and your pie ended up as a pile of ashes.
But now, neither of them were here.
And despite that cooking lesson, you were getting worried.
You looked at your pie again and sighed.
„Alright, I’ll let it be like this. Let’s hope it won’t end up burned.“ You both chuckled again.
Once the pie was baking, you sat down to Dis and started sipping on your cold tea. But it didn’t took too long, when you’ve heard familiar pair of steps and voices in quiet argument.
When they entered the kitchen, you’ve took a look who it was. Fili and Thorin, Thorin nodding at his sister and you and then walking away. Fili just sighed and sat down to you.
„Bilbo haven’t arrived yet and it’s making Thorin worried,“ Fili said and you nodded. You knew that Bilbo had a special place in everybody’s, especially Thorin’s heart. They usually wrote letters to each other. Bilbo has always made it in time to be there for Durin’s Day, and you didn’t doubted the halfling was alright. This year was more rainy than the year before and you truly believed he just needed more stops and wait until the rain didn’t stopped, so he could continue his path here.
You reached out and patted his shoulder.
„I believe that Bilbo is okay. He will come, I’m sure of it.“ You smiled at him and he nodded.
„You’re perhaps right, Y/N. Wait,“ He frowned and looked at you properly, from head to toe. Then, his face brightened.
„You were baking?“ You scoffed and rolled your eyes with a smile.
„Yes, I did. I’ve got a sweet tooth for something before the celebration.“ You’ve seen Fili’s eyes to sparkle in mischieve. But it wasn’t Fili who spoke up.
„Really? I believe you’re already sweeter than honey, sweetheart. Do I smell a pie?“ You turned to him and noticed his sparkling eyes. He winked at you and your cheeks reddened like autumn apples.
„And I believe I’m smelling and seeing a mud.“ Dis said, looking at her son. It was actually true – Kili’s hair was a mess, there were leaves of many different colours and twiggs in it, his clothes were wrinkled and he had dirt and mud on his clothes and in his hair, too. It was a miracle his face was almost clean.
„What you were doing, Kee?“ You asked him. He usually wasn’t this dirty. He grinned.
„I was showing some children from Dale around the fruit garden.“ Dis raised an eyebrow.
„Okay, I was playing with them here, too. But it was fun!“ You and Fili were chuckling. You knew that Kili would do it anyways – it was usually you three who would be jumping to piles of leaves, climbing up the trees and having a fight with mud, but today you spended in library and here in the kitchens.
Dis shot Kili a look and he sighed and rose his hands in defeat.
„What? It was fun! And besides,“ he grinned,
„nobody was injured.“ You all knew this counted. Before anyone could get Dis‘ reaction, a servant came in and said that Thorin sended for her. You thought that maybe Bilbo arrived.
When Dis left, you got up to check on the pie. Kili started picking leaves from his hair. Fili was looking from you to his brother, seeing how painfully obvious it was by the glances you threw each other when the other wasn’t looking, since the beginning of the quest, that you‘ve fancied each other.
For the last two years, Kili was flirting with you more and calling you only by nice and sweet nicknames, but you knew Kili was flirty like this, so it wasn’t anything too unusual. He looked like a flustrated puppy with pouting face, whenever you shook it off and wasn’t looking.
„It’s done,“ You said and took the pie out.
„It’s great you can bake,“ Fili said, looking down at the pie.
„It’s not that hard. You just need to follow the instructions.“ You three chuckled, knowing damn well that Fili and Kili and instructions or rules weren’t really too friendly.
„I’m hungry, can I take a bite, sweetie?“ Kili’s pleading chocolate eyes were set on you, looking like a puppy. Your heart melted, but you knew the pie was too hot to be eaten.
You placed your hands on your hips, looking at the brothers, mischievous smile spreading on your face.
„I’ll give you a piece, but you will have to wash yourself first.“ Kili pouted and bitten his lip slightly.
„It’s not fair that Fili will get the first one.“ You smirked.
„Who said Fili’s gonna get the first piece?“
„Hey!“ You all chuckled.
„I mean it, go wash yourself, Kee. Besides, it’s still too hot, it needs to cool down.“ Kili’s puppy eyes looked deep into your e/c  eyes again, only to realize you truly meant it. So when he stood between the doors, he winked at you.
„It’s not hot in comparison with you, my dear.“ And he left. Your yaw fell down and he let your cheeks flushed. Fili have seen the whole scene and smirked.
„It almost looks like he drank some love potion back in Bag-End and so did you, doesn’t it?“ You looked down to your feet, smiling to yourself.
„I think the red wine did it.“
„Aye, of course lass.“
When Kili came back with wet hair and clean clothes, you chuckled and pointed to his piece of pie.
„There you go,“ You said with a smirk to cover your nervousness. Fili almost rolled his eyes. Into a different dimension.
„Just say it already!“ He said, flustrated. You looked at Kili, who paled a bit, but then his face flushed.
„Oh yeah, I, uhm like you a lot, sweetheart.“ He looked like a flustrated puppy, and soft giggle escaped to your mouth. His own lips spreaded into cheeky smirk, like he usually worn.
„I-will you to court me?“ He looked at you with wide, nervous eyes. You held your breath and could not believe his words. He was asking you if you wanted to court him.
When you realized he was waiting for your response, you quickly nodded.
„Y-yes, o-of course I want to court you, Kili.“ You smiled and his eyes lighted up.
„Mahal, she said yes! Fili, did you heard that?! She said yes!“ And in a second, he was kissing your whole face. You were giggling when his hair touched your face.
„Kili, it tickles,“
„Fili, Kili, what’s all this about-“ Thorin came in. You three turned to him, seeing there was also Bilbo and rest of the Company, plus Dis. Bilbo seemed uncomfortable for a second, but then he smiled, as well as most of the Company. Dis‘ smile was the proudest, but it was hard to say. They were all happy and proud that you two stopped dancing around each other
„U-uncle,“ Kili looked at him.
„Well, I would like to announce, that me and Y/N are courting.“ He looked at you and you nodded. Dis placed her hands on her hips.
„When did you planned on telling us, you two?“ You looked at Fili and Kili.
„Well, it’s been just a while since we’re courting.“ Dis peeked to her second son, and Fili only grinned.
„Aye, but what does it matter? They’re the most perfect couple in the whole Middle-Earth!“ The rest of the dwarves cheered and Thorin’s face had warm smile, that one you’ve been seeing for past two years much more, since Erebor was reclaimed.
You noticed a tall figure and when you’ve seen a long grey robe, you were sure who it was.
„Gandalf! You arrived, too!“ He smiled at you and Kili.
„Indeed, I arrived with Bilbo. And as I can see, it was in time.“ you smiled.
„Oh yes, indeed.“ You looked at Kili. Then you rembered.
„Actually, I baked an apple pie today, can I offer you a piece?“  You offered to him and he nodded.
„It’s nice from you, miss Y/N.“
„Wait, you baked a pie, lass?“ Bofur came to take a look.
„It’s not a pile of ashes?“ Dwalin said and shot a look to Kili and Fili. You laughed.
„No, now sit down, or I’m not going to give you anything! I mean all of you!“
You didn’t noticed Bilbo was making a tea. You realized that when he handed you a cup and whispered.
„It’s called Love Potion, but it’s actually a mix of warm spices and some sweet fruits. I also know about that wine you and Kili tasted in Bag-End,“ He gave you a bit mischievous smile and shook your head.
„I believe that Fili told you, if I’m not mistaken?“
„Well, yes. He also told me to bring this mix for you as a gift for your birthday, when I was there only last year.“ he said. You smiled and looked over at Kili.
„You sure it was just a wine, Bilbo?“ He raised a brow.
„What else would it be? I’m not a wizard.“
„But surely you know one.“ He smiled.
„Fair enough.“

The Hobbit: Light Of My Life || Thorin x Female Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: Language, angst, sadness, fluff.
Pairings: Thorin Oakenshield x Female (Human) Reader
Summary: Ever since you joined The Company, you’ve gotten along well with everybody, including Thorin’s nephews. Though you’ve tried to get close with Thorin, he’d brush you off. Unbeknownst to you, the Dwarf King has taken a liking to you, though he chooses not to show it. You’re the light of The Company, and his heart, but he’s afraid to admit it due to worries that it’ll distract him from the mission, or you may reject him. When finally, one night after you get upset due to dealing with stress, he decides he can’t hold himself back anymore and walks over to talk to you.
“Kili-- Kili, don’t stand on that! It’s dangerous!” Your voice was heard throughout the small campground, as you mothered the two reckless brothers. “Oh, Fili. Not you too!”
Crash
“Mahal, why?! What did I do to deserve this?!” Kili cried dramatically, shaking his fist at the sky.
“I told you,” you sigh, walking over to the little pile. Fili & Kili thought it would be a good idea to climb on a dying tree, its branches barely able to carry its own weight. The pair fell atop each other, letting a small ‘oof’ out at the impact. In an attempt to pull Kili up, you grab at his wrist, only resulting you in being tugged down to topple them. “H-Hey!” While you three play fought, the rest of The Company watched from their seats, chuckling and enjoying the scene unravel. Thorin simply shook his head and let out a deep breath, though he too found it entertaining.  “Come on, that’s enough, boys!” Dwalin called as your sides were being tickled mercilessly by Kili, and held down by Fili.
“Don’t just stand there!” You yell breathlessly, “Help me, dammit!” But nobody moved. Eventually, you were able to shake yourself out of Fili’s grip and kick Kili off, now straddling him and tickling his sides. Honestly, you weren’t expecting to get a reaction, but you found that this warrior. This prince himself, was in fact, ticklish!  You three carried on, playing like children. Though Thorin felt a pang of jealousy in his heart when he watched you give all your attention to his nephews. Even sitting atop of Kili willingly! As hard headed as he was, he sighed deeply, knowing it was still his fault. You had tried your best to get along with Thorin. You weren’t exactly on bad terms, but he was a very stoic man. Hard to see through, and not as ‘sociable’ as the rest of The Company. You were the complete opposite. Like sunshine, always clearing up a sad atmosphere and replacing it with cheerful energy. When you acted as Fili & Kili’s playmate, when you cooked with Bombur, or when you helped Oin with his herbs and simply chatted with Bilbo. Even when you get sad, you put others happiness first. And Thorin liked that about you.  The way your laugh rubbed off on everyone, the way your hair naturally curled at the end, and even if you were quite possibly the sweetest creature in Middle Earth, you were also deadly. You weren’t naive or dependent. You knew how to watch over yourself and fight. As much as Thorin cared for you, he refused to show it in fear that you would distract him from the mission at hand. But he knew he would have you. He couldn’t live with himself, knowing that he just let the light of his life slip away. His One.
***
Over the sound of the crackling fire, Thorin caught the sound of sniffling and soft mumbling. Everybody else was asleep while he took watch, and he knew the only one besides him must be you. The Company acknowledged that you would usually have trouble sleeping. Sometimes only getting a mere two hours before having to continue traveling. Thorin looked over to the boulder not far from him, where you were leaned up against, burying your head into your knees.
“Y/N?” He whispered softly, a concerned expression growing on his face. “Are you okay?”
“Why do you care?” Your voice was muffled, but you didn’t sound mad at Thorin.
“Well,” he started, getting up to walk over to you. “I’m not just gonna let you cry all night without questioning you.” He plopped down beside you, nudging you to look at him. Slowly, you raised your head to make eye contact with him. His blue eyes glimmered under the moonlight, while your eyes were red and puffy with dark circles under them. “Mahal, I’ve never seen you like this. What’s the matter?”
Truthfully, you say “I don’t even know.. It’s just..” Thorin gives you a look, waiting for your answer. “It’s whatever. Nothing to concern yourself with.” Your attitude changes from sad to seemingly irritated within a second.
“You can’t act like this and expect me not to care.”
“You’ll laugh at me if I tell you. Feelings express weakness.”
“No, Y/N. You can talk to me,” he reassures. You look away from him,
“I really don’t know what’s wrong with me.. I know I’m usually happy but I just felt empty all of a sudden. I guess I miss the feeling of love and affection, and it sounds so stupid but--”  Thorin stops your ramble, “Y/N, everybody here loves you. I’ve seen the way my nephews look at you. They think you’re an amazing warrior and a person, as does everyone else. You’ve been nothing but a light to the whole Company.”
“I know what you mean!” You grumble, “I’m not talking about that kind of love. I love The Company like family, but that’s not what I crave. It’s been years since I’ve felt a romantic type of love for someone, but whoops, I caught feelings for somebody who doesn’t remotely like me the same way.”
“What are you talking about?” Thorin swallows the lump in his throat, in fear you’ve caught feelings for someone other than him. What if it was Kili? Or Dwalin? Maybe someone at home? How could you ever love him, when all he’s done was distance himself from you?
“I’ve tried to show him how much I care for him, but he doesn’t notice. He just keeps pushing me away and it hurts,” you admit, sniffling again.
“Tell me about him. What’s he like?”
“Gods, he’s just..Amazing.” you say, gazing up into the sky. “He’s a real warrior. Strong, handsome, and I find his voice soothing, except for when he’s telling me to shut up.”
“How could you fall for someone who’s only pushed you away?” Thorin continues to ask.
You sigh, “From the start, I felt this pull to him. We’re complete opposites, but I enjoy his presence, even if he looks at me like I’m insane. I know there’s a heart in him. I’ve seen the way he talks to his.. family..” You almost say ‘nephews’, but that would give you away completely. “He doesn’t usually show it, but he’s very protective and caring. Just hardened by his life battles. That’s why I keep trying. Then again, he’s always busy and I doubt he’d care for me like I do for him. I’m probably not his ideal mate, anyway. Still, I’d give anything to tell him how I feel.”
Oh, darling, you just did. Thorin thought to himself. Slowly, you felt him wrap his strong arms around you, pulling him against his chest. It was unexpected. There’s one time you had to lean against him for warmth, but you’ve never been this intimate.  “He knows, Y/N.”
You process his words, and in realization, you look up at Thorin, with a questioning look in your eyes.
“T-Thorin..?” You felt your cheeks flush.
“Amralime,” he says. “I’ve always felt the same way. I just couldn’t tell you in risk of distracting myself from the quest.”
“You know I’d fight with you till the very end. I love you, Thorin, and I don’t want you to be afraid to show me how you feel.”  At that, he pulls you into a kiss, catching you off guard. Though you didn’t complain, and savored the moment. When you both finally pulled away for air, he whispered to you, “I love you, Y/N. You’re the light of my life and I’d be happy to call you mine.”
BOOM THAT WAS CHEESY BUT ERKFJWLEHFHKEF THANKS FOR READING MY BULLSHIT STORIES

Hearts Entwined (Dwalin Oneshot)
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: First time writing for the LOTR/HOBBIT fandom so be gentle! Just a bit of Dwalin fluff because he’s mah boy.
Summary: Joining a company of Dwarves you thought that your hair would be the least of your worries. But as it turns out, it matters more than you thought.
Dwalin x Reader
The sun had just crawled over the mountains when Thorin decided it was time to make camp. At his words you and some of the other company fell to your knees in exhaustion, you rolling on your back as you steadied your breathing.
“I feel like my legs are gonna fall off.” Ori whined, as he lay collapsed on the ground beside you, to which you chuckled.
“Don’t you live in mountains?” You turned your head.
“Emphasis on the ‘in’. Its not like we climb up and down these every day.” Bofur groaned.
You could tell who the more battle hardy members were, as more of the older men of the troop stood unfazed. One dwarf in particular looking like he had just gone for a morning jog.
“Aw come on you whippersnappers, you’re fifty years too old to let a leisurely walk like this defeat ya.” Dwalin grinned, poking at your leg with his boot.
“Lesiurely??!” Ori panted.
“Walk??!” You cried.
Your dramatics caused many in the troupe to laugh heartily, which was a much needed mood-lifter after such a long day. Even Thorin the Serious smiled as he passed you by.
“Come on, we’ll make for camp.”
You lay on the ground for a moment more, letting your eyes cover your gaze as you enjoyed the view of a certain dwarf, sweat glistening his muscles and brow in the waning sunlight.
Perhaps climbing mountains did have their perks.
Even though it had only been two weeks, it felt as though you had been a part of this rag-tag troupe for years. You were an unexpected surprise, not unlike Bilbo, however your meeting was far from peaceful. They had found you tied up as a troll trio’s appetizer, and after they had rescued you, Gandalf offered that you travel with them.
At first there were objections to having a stranger join, but with you promising to prove your worth to Thorin they obliged. In all honesty you had no idea what to expect in a quest of Blue Mountain dwarves. But you had felt the times changing, work as a bounty hunter becoming more dangerous for a lone wolf. So, it made sense to travel with a group of warriors, peculiar though their quest may be.
Over time you had become accustomed to the Dwarven band, and they you. You liked sparring with Dwalin, listening to Bilbo’s packing tips, and even getting into trouble with Fili and Kili, but unconsciously you found yourself always looking out for Ori.
He reminded you of your younger siblings, and so you tried to make sure he was never left behind. Dori had also noticed your kindness, and had taken it upon himself to be your guide if ever you had questions about the trip, dwarves, and anything in between.
Sure Fili and Kili were friendly enough, but you could never be sure if their answers were serious or offered as a wick to a flame. Which wouldn’t help your case if they knew of your more romantic curiosities about a certain rugged dwarf.
As soon as camp was set up you dug into your bowl almost as heftily as Bombur did, your mighty excursions leaving your body depleted. Sighing as you patted your full belly, you enjoyed the warmth of the fire while propped up against a hefty log, one that Dwalin happened to be sitting on.
“Good to see you’ve revived lass.”
You tried not to let the blush creep into your cheeks as he spoke your nickname with such a warmth that pulled at your heart strings. “Good to see you’re still kicking too.” You shot back, Dwalin smirking at your response.
You remembered the first time you saw him burst out of the trees with a mighty roar. Even hanging upside down, you saw the sheer strength and courage he launched himself at a foe five  times his size. Yet his gentleness surprised you as he cut you down and carried you in his arms like you weighed nothing.
I mean, how could you not fall for him?
As everyone cleared off their bowls for the night you tried to stretch your muscles as best you could. The strain on your shoulders was beginning to ache, however it was a familiar pain now, and one that you would try your best not to let show.
You rolled your pack out close to the face of the mountain, since once before Dwalin had to drag you back from almost toppling over the edge in your sleep.
“No more sleeping near the cliffsides you wriggly worm.” He had growled sternly, to which you could only nod, having woken up to being carried by your saviour once again wondering if it was another dream. You’d had to bury your cheeks under the blanket so he couldn’t see your satisfied smile.
“Glad to see you learned your lesson.” Dwalin teased as he watched you from the fire.
“Well I’m sure if I had gone over the edge you could’ve used your beard as rope.” You teased back.
Dwalin and the others roared around the fire, as he looked at you with a mischievous grin.
“You tease this fine work of art missy, but from the looks of it your hair is gonna look worse than mine within a week.”
You brought your hand up to the back of your head and realised that it was, indeed, becoming a matted mess. You kept your thick hair in braids for the practicality, but on this journey you had not found the time to manage the upkeep. Which was important, as your curls answered to no one but a tooth comb and plenty of oil.
You huffed and started to unbind your hair, working your way behind before you felt yourself stuck. Seems one of your more intricate braids had become an intricate knot.
“You might as well just shave it off lassy, we can have matching hairstyles.” Dwalin roared with laughter. You tried your best to give him a grumpy look but you soon found yourself in fits of laughter too.
“You can help me braid my hair then you big ol’ grump.” You grinned, walking purposely around the fire and plonking yourself on the ground between his legs cross legged.
“How about that?” You puffed triumphantly.
But instead of more banter, you instantly you felt those around the fire freeze, Bofur dropping his spoon back into his bowl.
“You didn’t tell her?” Kili hissed at Dori.
“Well its not like I expected it to come up!” Dori argued defensively.
“Am I…. missing something?” You turned your head to look up at Dwalin wondering why he was silent too. However, you didn’t expect to find the most ferocious man you had ever met as red as a beet!
“Um,” Fili chuckled nervously. “Y/N, you-“
“Dwarves have very particular customs when it comes to our hair, or braiding other’s.” Thorin spoke decisively from his place as lookout, arms folded. “Customs that usually amount to offers of courtship.”
Your jaw dropped, realizing that you may or may not have in no small way proposed to Dwalin. “Oh.” You struggled to get words out. “Oh no, I didn’t know, I-I am sorry if I have caused offence!”
“It looks like you’ve caused a heart attack sweetie.” Bofur replied before being elbowed in the ribs by Kili.
You looked at everyone around the fire trying to look for some indication of how to proceed, finding that all of them were looking behind you. “Dwalin?”
“Its okay lass, you didn’t know.” Dwalin replied, the tepidness in his voice almost breaking you.
This really wasn’t how anything was supposed to go! Yes you liked Dwalin, you liked Dwalin a LOT. But you never thought the day would come when you would be ousted by your own foolish actions, and in front of half of your companions too.
“It was an honest mistake.” You heard Dwalin try to joke.
You scrunched the dirt underneath your hands into your fists. You were Y/N. You were bold. You were daring. And while your actions may have been a mistake your feelings certainly weren’t. Could you pretend it all away? Could you live with yourself now if you lied and hid your heart away? No. You had never run away from anything in your life. And you weren’t about to start now.
“If its all the same to you Dwalin, I still would like your help to braid my hair.”
You winced as you heard Ori gasp dramatically. When you peeked up you found Fili and Kili staring at you while simultaneously kicking each other, Bofur almost letting his bowl slip from his hands. Even Thorin raised his eyebrows at your boldness.
You felt the dwarf behind you exhale. “Are you sure lass?”
“Yes.” You tried not to twiddle your fingers, somehow transforming more and more into a shy milkmaid by the second. “Unless you would like me to ask someone else to braid it.” You insinuated daringly, even with fear he would say yes and offer your heart to someone else.
But no sooner were the words out of your mouth then you felt his hands brush against your back, taking the first of your plaits in his hands and unweaving it slowly.
“Well look at that I think its time for bed!” Bofur sprung up and yawned purposefully. At this the remaining troop instantly scattered, leaving you both alone with each other by the fire. Even Thorin had moved so that he was perched around the side of the mountain out of respect for his loyal warrior.
“I’m sorry if my hair is hard to handle.” You offered shyly. “It’s hard to do the plaits on my own.”
“No need for sorrys.” The rugged dwarf answered quietly, cursing his hands for not being nimble, or delicate. His hands were leathery, worn from his early years in the forges. But he had never thought his hands would be weaving in your hair as they did now. “Am I hurting ya?”
“Are you kidding me?” You laughed at his concern. “My mother would have me and my siblings crying after a braiding session when we were younger, this is….” You then paused. “This is much better.”
Dwalin’s own heart swelled at your contentment, fit to burst from his chest. Ever since the day he had cut you down and carried you in his arms, he couldn’t deny that you were the most beautiful cocoon he had ever seen.
He thought it was just the normal jitters when one saw a pretty face, but as you travelled as companions and then as friends, he fell in love with your character. The way you laughed, the way you fought, the way you would look out for Ori. You had proven your worth to the company as you had promised, but along the way you had won Dwalin’s heart.
Of course, he never thought in a thousand years though that a strong, strapping youngling would ever fall for him. You were human, and he considered the fact that maybe you wouldn’t feel attachment like dwarves did. He had thought for sure you would have become interested in one of the princes, anyone younger than himself.
Obviously, Dwalin was wrong.
The fierce warrior reluctantly finished the last plait, the process of taming your hair long but pleasant, as both of you swapped small stories of memories and times long past, even content to sit in silence.
You stretched and then turned to sit facing him. “Thank you.” The warmth in your smile more than Dwalin could take.
Before he could even think the dwarf had taken both of your hands in his, letting his thumbs slide gingerly across your small hands.
“Yes Dwalin?” You looked up at him with pools of dark hazel that glinted in the firelight, taking his breath away with the way you looked at him so keenly. He had never seen you like this before. Then again he mused, you had probably never seen him look like such a blushing fool before either.
“I’ll help you with your hair whenever you need Y/N, if that’s okay with you.”
You smiled at took the chance to hold his face in your hands, planting a small kiss on his forehead. “Its more than okay with me.”
Your own Dwarven Hero.

“Told you she’d be the one to do it.” Fili chuckled, kicking the bundle next to him that was his brother, gaining him a grunt. “You owe me a pint.”

Forgiven - Bifur x. Reader (fluff)
Tumblr media
Request: “Can I pretty please get something with Bifur from the hobbit? If you can, can it be super sweet but also a little sad? Like he maybe accidentally hurt them the ace in his head and he’s like “ oh no I’m bad person” and after super soft and sweet? If not that’s okie doke c: I love that dwarf lol”
Tags: @dicksoutformtl
Warnings: 900 words, mentions of blood and wounds (reader gets hurt y’all)
A/N: Sorry to the person who requested this since it took me forever to write. I don’t typically write from Bifur (I’m a Fili kinda person myself), but this was really fun to write! I’m currently on a bus to Washington D.C. and I’m low key sick so I’m probably gonna be writing some more today. Hope you enjoy! :)
The sun was just beginning to sink behind the trees when Thorin announced to the company they’d be making camp for the evening.
“Finally,” Kili had groaned from atop his pony, “we’ve been riding for hours.”
(Y/n) nodded from agreement from beside him. She hadn’t initially intended to come on this long trek to Erebor, but Gandalf had convinced her (as he always did). She was mostly glad he did; she had always been fascinated with the wilderness of Middle Earth, and now she was getting the opportunity to see all the places she had read about in person.
Still, the seemingly endless hours of riding Thorin made everyone do everyday was something no one was enjoying, herself included.
She climbed off her pony, stroking his muzzle softly as she tied him to a tree branch nearby, leaving enough slack in the rope for him to graze about the campsite.
“What will we be feasting on tonight, (Y/n)?” Bombur inquired as he waddled over to you, eyebrows raised into an incredulous expression.
“Whatever you dwarves catch in the woods, Bombur,” she chuckled.
She made her way over to Bilbo, who was beginning to set up a makeshift kitchen of sorts under a few trees.
“Fili and Kili have gone to find something to eat,” he said, not looking up as he pulled countless utensils and pans out of his bag.
“I hope they get back soon, I’m starving,” (Y/n) said, sitting down on a fallen log next to Bilbo.
“I can’t help but agree with you,” Bilbo replied.
As they continued to talk about dinner possibilities and how utterly infuriating Thorin was for not allowing them to stop earlier, several of the dwarves were coming together in the clearing.
“I feel as if I haven’t eaten in weeks!” Bombur cried, throwing his hands above his head exasperatedly.
“You don’t look it,” Dwalin said as he walked by with an armful of firewood, causing Bifur and Bofur to snicker.
“Oh, sod off the whole lot of you,” Bombur said pointedly as he shoved Bifur.
Bifur, who had greatly underestimated Bombur’s strength, went flying backwards, crashing into someone with a loud “thud.”
“(Y/n)!” the dwarves shouted, rushing over to her as Bifur toppled her over the back of the log she had been sitting on.
“Oh, you’re bleeding,” Ori said, face paling as he rushed off to the medicine bag.
Somehow in the crash you had gotten a sizeable cut on your forehead, and it was stinging like crazy. Bilbo had pressed his hand against your forehead in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
“Does it hurt, miss?” Ori asked, rushing over to the group with a handful of bandages.
“Not too much,” (Y/n) sniffled, gratefully taking the bandages and pressing them to the cut as Bilbo removed his hand.
Bifur groaned, blinking his eyes open as he came back to his senses. He was lying flat on his back, and quickly noticed the dwarves congregating around (Y/n), all sporting concerned expressions.
He got up slowly and walked over, his eyes widening in surprise as he noticed her prominent head wound. He nudged Bofur as to inquire about the situation.
“I think your axe hit her head somehow when you crashed into her,” Bofur said quietly, not taking his eyes off of the scene in front of him.
Bifur was swamped by an immense feeling of guilt. He hadn’t even known she was behind him!
(Y/n) got up slowly, walking slowly with Bilbo and Ori across the clearing to find a more permanent fix for her head wound.
“Laddy, you’re not looking to well,” Balin said from behind Bifur. He looked at the older dwarf behind him, and then at (Y/n). He felt terrible.
“Just apologize to her, I’m sure she’ll forgive you.”
Bifur’s expression conveyed his inter panic. Why, (Y/n) wouldn’t forgive him, she’d probably get mad at him. Of course she’d be angry, he’d just given her a very noticeable wound in the middle of her face.
“Bifur, (Y/n) isn’t stupid. I’m sure she knows it was an accident,” Balin said, resting his hand on Bifur’s shoulder comfortingly. “Go talk to her.”
Bifur sighed, slowly making his way across the clearing to (Y/n), who was sitting patiently while Ori dutifully bandaged her wound. Bilbo sat holding her hand, comforting himself more than her (he too had been shaken by the whole ordeal).
He cleared his throat, looking down once (Y/n)’s gaze met his own. He was still ashamed.
“Oh Bifur,” (Y/n) chuckled, pulling him into a hug while Ori muttered some nonsense about his bandages being messed up.
“Are you alright? I saw you fall, too,” she said. Bifur looked up curiously. She was the one who was hurt and yet she was still concerned about him?
He nodded slowly, letting himself melt into her embrace.
“Don’t feel bad, bloody wounds are part of the job description,” she reminded him cheerfully, pulling away and flashing him a brilliant smile. He couldn’t help but grin in return.
He skipped back across the clearing joyfully, and (Y/n) laughed at the caring and yet overly energetic dwarf.
“He’s certainly a character,” Bilbo said, still a little concerned for her.
“A fine character indeed,” (Y/n) said matter of factly, walking back over to the kitchen as she caught sight of the twins walking back into camp, both carrying a large amount of birds in their hands. Bombur would be glad to know that they’d be feasting indeed.

Live blogging the Hobbit pt.7
Flies And Spiders
Tumblr media
I’ve been looking forward to this one.
Tumblr media
“There were black squirrels in the wood. As Bilbo’s sharp inquisitive eyes got used to seeing things he could catch glimpses of them whisking off the path and scuttling behinf tree-trunks.” I should write a fic about this myself, but I think it would be a funny scene to have Bilbo, with his sharper eyesight, mention the squirrels and the dwarves just. Have absolutely no idea what he’s talking about? What squirrels?? Bilbo: … the squirrels. Dwarves: wut. B:The squirrels that run around every once in a while. And him trying to point them out but being unable to because of their speed and their black colour. Eventually, after they’ve been in the woods a while, becoming irritable and kinda muddled and just really freaked out, Bilbo snaps and out of nowhere throws a rock at one of them, only stunning it, but effectively bringing it down. The dwarves are all like, Bilbo wtf, both because it was very sudden and because they didn’t know he had that good of an aim, but he just goes “you see it? you see it? oh thank heavens I was starting to think I was going crazy and just imagining it.” That’s when they decide to try to shoot them and eat them and when they realise… well, I’ll keep it for that bulletpoint.
Tumblr media
“Even the dwarves felt it, who were used to tunneling, and lived at times for long whiles without the light of the sun; but the hobbit, who liked holes to make a house in but not to spend summer days in, felt that he was being slowly suffocated.”
Lmao why does he always get the worst of it? Tolkien, I’ll see you in hell.
Tumblr media
“They tried shooting the squirrels, and they wasted many arrows before they managed to bring one down on the path. But when they roasted it, it proved horrible to taste, and they shot no more squirrels.”
Here it is, back to the story, they hunt the squirrels, realise they’re gross, and are like, “Bilbo, you’re the most weirdly skillful yet useless person we’ve ever met.”
Tumblr media
‘Dori is the strongest, but Fili is the youngest and still has the best sight.” Fili is the what
Tumblr media
“All the time he was wondering whether there were spiders in the tree, and how he was going to get down again (except by falling).”
why not
Tumblr media
“They did not care tuppence about the butterflies, and ere only made more angry when he told them of the beautiful breeze, which they were too heavy to climb up and feel.” It is kind of tacky, Bilbo
Double fuck, my bookmark fell off and the spine got cracked. This has literally never happened to me before D:<
In theory, leaving a mark that something’s been used and loved is a concept I like. In practice? This is bothering me.
Tumblr media
“That night they ate the last scraps and crumbs of food; and next morning when they woke the first thing they noticed was that they were still gnawingly hungry, and the nest thing was that it was raining and that here and there the drip of it was dropping heavily on the forest floor.” I mean, they’ve eaten the last of the food and they’re still hungry — chances are that even if they’d known they were almost out of the woods, they wouldn’t have made it anyway. (So certain authors can stow it.)
Tumblr media
“There were many people there, elvish-looking folk, all dressed in green and brown and sitting on sawn rings of the felled trees in a great circle.” Why elvish-looking and not just elves?
Tumblr media
“They were lost in a completely lightless dark and they could not even find one another, not for a long time at any rate. After blundering frantically in the gloom, falling over logs, bumping crash into trees, and shouting and calling till they must have waked everything in the forest for miles, at last they managed to gather themselves in a bundle and count themselves by touch.” First off, I want to serve this as an example of and proof that Tolkien, while not going quite so low as to make scatological and fart jokes, used plenty of slapstick comedy. Second, oh my god you guys, that is not the way to find each other in the dark!
Tumblr media
“Thorin said: ‘No rushing forward this time! No one is to stir from hiding till I say. I shall send Mr. Baggins alone first to talk to them. They won’t be frightened of him--(‘What about me of them?’ thought Bilbo)-- and any way I hope they won’t do anything nasty to him.’” All praise the fearless and generous leader!
It reminds me of a fanfic I really like, still in progress, where the fanon dynamic for Bagginshield (and indeed, most common tropes of romance) gets subverted by having Thorin trust and rely on Bilbo to protect him instead of being overprotective. It was started after the first movie but before the others, and I can really see it in the book. (Of course, that probably has something to do with the fact that Tolkien didn’t write it to be romantic.)
Tumblr media
“‘They are the best I am likely to get in this beastly place,’ he mutteres, ad he lay down beside the dwarves and tried to go back to sleep and find his dream again.” Dwarf(and hobbit)pile!
Tumblr media
“He was deep in thoughts of bacon and eggs and toast and butter when he felt something touch him. Something like a strong sticky string was against his left hand, and when he tried to move he found that his legs were already wrapped in the same stuff, so that when he got up he fell over.
Then the great spider, who had been busy tying him up while he dozed, came from behind him and came at him.” Almost executed for daydreaming about breakfast in the middle of Mirkwood at night crimes.
Tumblr media
“He beat the creature off with his hands--it was trying to poison him to keep him quiet, as small spiders do to flies--until he remembered his sword and drew it out.”
Bilbo: *balls up fists and swings them like cartoon boxer* Let’s do this Shire style!
But also, I want to point out that it says he beat it off not tried to beat it off. That implies success.
Also, I’m kind of freaked out at the implication that that’s a small spider.
Tumblr media
“Then it went mad and leaped and danced and flung out its legs in horrible jerks, until he killed it with another stroke; and then he fell down and remembered nothing more for a long while.
There was the usual dim grey light of the forest-day about him when he came to his senses.” Fair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Bilbo was a pretty fair shot with a stone, and it did not take him long to find a nice smooth egg-shaped one that fitted his hand cosily. As a boy he used to practise throwing stones at things, until rabbits and squirrels, and even birds, got out of his was as quick as lightning if they saw him stoop; and even grow--up he had still spent a deal of his time at quoits, dart-throwing, shooting at the wand, bowls, ninepins and other quiet games of the aiming and throwing sort--indeed he could do lots of things, besides blowing smoke-rings, asking riddles and cooking, that I haven’t had time to tell you about. There is no time now.” There are so many levels of hilarity here, like
1- Bilbo used to be a fucking menace. And he didn’t quite get over it either!
2- They only ran away when he stooped? This just makes me think that he might have done nice things to make them at least tolerate him otherwise, instead of outright avoiding him or attacking him. Like, “ah, it’s that little boy, who’ll either feed us, he’s so nice and- uh oh he stooped, time to go boys.” Alternatively, it’s genetic memory warning them away from Bilbo. I was thinking maybe it was about all hobbits, but it does say “until they got out of his way”, meaning there was a time when they didn’t.
3- That’s such a hilariously late time in the story to introduce us to the fact that the main character has not only good aim but a strong enough arm to throw a stone right through a giant spider’s web, which would be thicker and probably more durable than the normal variety, already stronger than steel. And then kill the spider on the other side.
4- “Other quiet games of the aiming and throwing sort.” Idk man, other games of the sort, figure it out yourself.
5- I want to know about the other stuff Bilbo can do.
Tumblr media
“This is what he sang:
Old fat spider spinning in a tree!
Old fat spider can’t see me!
Attercop! Attercop!
Won’t you stop,
Stop your spinning and look for me?
Old Tomnoddy, all big body.
Old Tomnoddy can’t spy me!
Attercop! Attercop!
Down you drop!
You’ll never catch me up your tree!
Not very good perhaps, but then you must remember that he had to make it up himself, on the spur of a very awkward moment.” Tolkien, shut up, it’s beautiful.
Also, lol, about to be eaten by spiders, how awks.
Tumblr media
“Standing now in the middle of the hunting and spinning insects Bilbo plucked up his courage and began a new song.” Bilbo: If I’m gonna die, it’s gonna be as annoyingly as possible.
Honestly, though, this is my favourite song in the book.
Tumblr media
“Bilbo’s next job was to loose a dwarf.” Very different from losing a dwarf, which he’s already done x14 (Thorin counts twice, especially considering he hasn’t even realized he’s lost him yet).
Tumblr media
“Suddenly Bilbo noticed that some of the spiders had gathered round old Bombur on the floor, and had tied him up again and were dragging him away. He gave a shout and slashed at the spiders in front of him. They quickly gave way, and he scrambled and fell down the tree right into the middle of those on the ground. His little sword was something new in the way of stings for them. How it darted to and fro! It shone with delight as he stabbed at them. Half a dozen were killed before the rest drew off and left Bombur to Bilbo.” Bilbo’s gone berserk.
Also, Sting shone with delight? What a bloodthirsty blade.
Tumblr media
“Away behind them now the shouting and singing suddenly stopped.” DUN DUN DUUUUUN
Tumblr media
“Things were looking pretty bad again, when suddenly Bilbo reappeared, and charged into the astonished spiders unexpectedly from the side.
‘Go on! Go on!” he shouted. “I will do the stinging!”
And he did. He darted backwards and forwards, slashing at spider-threads, hacking at their legs, and stabbing at their fat bodies if they came too near. The spiders swelled with rage, and spluttered and frothed, and hissed out horrible curses; but they had become mortally afraid of Sting, and dared not come very near, now that it had come back. So curse as they would, their prey moved slowly but steadily away. It was a most terrible business, and seemed to take hours.” Love this part. All very heroic.
Tumblr media
“They knew only too well that they would soon all have been dead if it had not been for the hobbit; and they thanked him many times. Some of them even got up and bowed right to the ground before him, though they fell over with the effort, and could not get on their legs again for some time.” I can imagine Bilbo all flustered, going “good. Hope you’ve learned your lesson and won’t be doing that again. Limit yourself to fawning.”
Tumblr media
“All of a sudden Dwalin opened an eye, and looked round at them. ‘Where is Thorin?’ he asked.”Lmao, finally!
Tumblr media
“They differed from the High Elves of the West, and were more dangerous and less wise.” Feral.
Tumblr media
“All this was well known to every dwarf, though Thorin’s family had had nothing to do with the old quarrel I have spoken of. Consequently Thorin was angry at their treatment of him, when they took their spell off and he came to his senses.” Another change done for the movie: Thorin’s family wasn’t involved in the feud.
Also lmao this weapon, a prisoner and all “how dare you”.
I’m not going to talk about the conversation between Thorin and Thranduil bc it’s probably been done to death.
Definitely my favourite chapter this far. Main character’s skills and learned courage begins to show? Check. He uses them in a fight that gives him extra confidence? Check. Heroics mixed with witty commentary and one-liners? Check. Team begins to see them in a new, more positive light? Check. Elves being made fun of and painted as kinda ridiculous? Check. (This one’s very subjective ig.)

Azog Lives
Tumblr media
A/N: I'm so sorry this is late. It's 12:38 pm on Tuesday night, so not horribly late, but I still feel awful. My niece had her last home volleyball game today and I've just been super busy. Please forgive me guys
Summary: After escaping the goblins, Thorin learns the truth about the pale orc
Pairing: none yet. Would love to know who you guys are rooting for, think is the best match for her
Warnings: none
Word Count: 1586
My fur was still bristled as all the company stood around me trying to catch their breath. Even I was panting after having to run so far so fast. Fighting goblins definitely wasn't something I ever wanted to do again. “Remind me not to come to the mountains when I plan my vacation.” I looked at Dwalin. He raised a brow and shook his head at me. “Always have something smart to say. But I'll be sure to remind ya lass. Now here let me clean your face.” He pulled out a cloth and started wiping at the blood that had tinted my white fur. He had to get it wet before it would come off and even then it didn't completely come out. “I need to rinse my mouth out. Those things are gross.” I stuck my tongue out.
Dwalin let out a gruff laugh and gave me some water. I swished it around in my mouth and spit it out. Which probably looked strange if anyone was to see. But I didn't rightly care. I just wanted the rancid taste out of my mouth. “I can't believe you bit them. Figured after your encounter with the trolls you wouldn't bite filthy creatures anymore,” he said. If I could shrug I would have. “Gotta kill the enemy somehow. Claws and teeth are my only weapons. And while it did taste nasty I got some satisfaction knowing I ended their evil,” I replied.
Dwalin nodded his head in understanding and looked me over. “You're gonna be stuck in this form for a while aren't you?” He realized I didn't have my clothes with me. Which was a pain, but there wasn't anything I could do about it now. I was either stuck as a wolf or would have to go around naked. The latter of which I didn't exactly want to do. “Unless someone managed to grab a bag and has spares then yep. I'm stuck,” I replied. He rubbed my ears as a way of saying he was sorry.
I laid down wanting to relax for a few minutes. I closed my eyes and listened to Gandalf count the dwarves and realize that Bilbo was missing. Everyone was in an uproar about the hobbit missing. But I wasn't worried. I knew he would show up soon enough. I stretched out letting my claws dig into the earth and looked at all of them.
“Stop worrying, he's fine. He'll show up any second now,” I assured them.
However Gandalf was having none of it. He wanted to know exactly what happened. And so he began asking all sorts of questions which just set Thorin off. I swear sometimes I'm amazed the dwarf didn't bust a vein with as angry and stressed out as he stayed. When little Bilbo showed up I looked at Thorin and cocked my head. “Told ya he would come back. You should learn to listen to me. It's not like I don't know what's going to happen or anything,” I sassed. Thorin huffed and ignored me instead turning to Bilbo.
“I want to know. Why did you come back?”
“Look, I know you doubt me. I know you always have. And you're right, I often think of Bag-end. I miss my books. And my armchair and my garden. See, that's where I belong. That's home. And that's why I came back. Because...you don't have one. A home. It was taken from you. But I will help you take it back if I can.” He looked over at me with a soft smile. I could see something like understanding in his eyes. “And Ria considers wherever you lot are her home and she needs a roof over her head. She doesn't deserve to be out in the wild after all the kind things she has done,” he finished his speech.
Getting up I walked over to him and rubbed my head against his chest. It was my way of giving him a hug while I was stuck in this form. “Thank you, Bilbo. You're right. I do consider my home to be wherever they are.” I looked at the company and could see them all smiling at me; even Thorin and Dwalin. The happy moment couldn't last however because in the next moment howls pierced the air.
“Out of the frying pan,” Thorin started.
“And into the fire,” Gandalf finished.
Everyone was once again running for their lives. Only problem was we were on a cliff. The only place to go was up. While they all climbed the trees I stayed down at the bottom not being able to do so. “Ria, what are you doin’ lass? They'll kill ya,” Dwalin shouted when he noticed me at the base of the tree. I looked up at him. “They can try,” I replied. I really didn't know if I could fight them all off, but I couldn't climb and so I was going to try and gain them as much time as possible.
Warg after warg came at me in a clash of teeth and claws. My fur was covered in blood and I didn't even want to think what else. Finally I got a  reprieve as the company began throwing fiery pinecones. “Thanks guys. I don't know how much more I could have handled,” I called up to them. They all started shouting back, but then their tree fell. I watched as they hung over the edge of the cliff, hoping the eagles turned up soon.
Thorin stood and came running down the tree wanting to face off with Azog. The ugly orc had been taunting him from the moment he showed up and even I was ready to tear him a new one. When Thorin came by me I tried to stop him, but he was just out of my reach. I watched as he tried to fight and fail, watched as Azog sent an orc to behead him, and watched as Bilbo came to the rescue. That was when I finally rushed into the fight. I rammed my body into Azog's warg knocking them both over. The white warg snapped down on my hind leg as I went to get back up. I howled out in pain and swatted its nose.
The fight was going back and forth between us, but then Azog stood and narrowed his eyes at me. I snarled and prepared to be attacked by them both, but in the next moment I was scooped up in a set of talons. “Thanks for the rescue. I thought I was done for back there,” I told the eagle. It turned its head and looked at me for a moment. “No need to thank me. You fought bravely young wolf. Remember that courage in the days to come.” He then looked ahead and didn't say another word. My mouth dropped open. I knew they could talk as they had in the book, but I hadn't been expecting him to say anything to me.
When the eagle sat me down I let out a hiss and laid down. The pain in my leg now hitting me as I wasn't full of adrenaline. “Oh Ria, you're hurt. Here let me tend to that.” I looked up seeing Dori fretting over my state. “Yeah Azog's warg bit me. It hurts like crazy, but I'll live,” I told him. He pulled his waterflask off his side and poured it on the wound. I let out a small snarl at the pain. “Luckily the teeth didn't go too deep. If you shift back Oin should be able to put something on it and wrap it,” he said.
“Right and what clothes am I supposed to put on? I can't go naked.”
“Here take this. Maybe we can find you some pants.” Kili was in front of me holding out a long tunic. I was about to ask where it came from when I noticed his top half was naked. It was one of his undershirts. “Thank you,” I told him.
I took it and shifted as soon as no one was looking. The tunic fell to mid-thigh. Letting my wound be on full display. Oin, who had finished tending to the now awake Thorin, came over to look at me. He searched in the little pouch at his waist and pulled out some kind of cream and some bandages. “This will keep it from getting infected.” He covered the holes with the ointment and then wrapped it with the bandages. “So do I get to keep my leg doc?” I teased. Oin looked up at me with a huff. He may not hear well, but he knew what I said. “Of course ya can lass. Just keep it clean and covered,” he instructed.
I went to make another joke, but a pair of long-john pants were thrusted into my face. “They should fit you. We're the same height,” Fili said. I took the pants and pulled them on. “Did you and your brother seriously strip to offer me clothes?” I asked. Both the princes blushed and looked away. “Aye we did. We can't have you going naked and that wound can't be treated while you're a wolf. Giving up our under clothes seemed the easiest solution,” Fili replied.
“Thank you boys.” I kissed them both on the cheek and went to stand. My leg wobbled for a second, but with Kili's help I was able to get up. “Now let's get off this rock.”

The room went silent after you charged in, slamming the door shut behind you and heading for the King, noting his swallowing and wide eyes at your fiery gaze, none of the others from the Company willing to step in as you came to a halt crossing your arms, “QUEEN CONSORT!!” He quickly glanced at Dwalin who had his mouth covered as he watched his tiny wife in shock at her reaction to the news while Thorin squirmed in his large seat stammering for a few moments only to be broken off by your voice again, “Just when were you going to inform me of this?! I suppose just because you’re the King you get to choose who you want!” Stomping your foot as you pointed at Bilbo beside him for a moment, who was desperately trying to hide his giggles, “You’ve already married my Cousin!! Now I’m just to lie back for you as well?!” Stomping your foot again, “WELL!!!?”
Thorin finally cleared his throat as he attempted to straighten himself through his frightened state, “It’s merely a title. Nothing is expected, merely your Children will have a bloodline that of mine and My Husbands, they will be first in line behind me, that is all, when you give birth the title will change to Queen Mother.” Sitting up straight as you glanced over at Dwalin who nodded after his shoulders flinched at your still stern gaze.
Your eyes went back to Thorin softer now, “Why didn’t you bring any of this up before the wedding five months ago?”
Thorin, “It wasn’t brought to our attention until after, and only by Dis’ observation at adding your names to our family tree.”
Your eyebrow raised as you glanced at the Princes, “But they’re next in line, what about them?”
Fili, “Oh don’t you mind now, I spend most of my time in Dale helping Bard.”
Kili, “Ya, me too, between Dale and Mirkwood with Tauri, we’ve got loads to do.”
Fili, “Besides, we’re just moving down a few slots, we’re still in line, just behind the little Ones, so we’ll be here to help them through it all.”
Thorin, “I would never ask you to be more than my Cousin, but with Dwalin and I sharing a Grandfather and being nearly brothers, it would be as if they were mine anyway. We’ve all already talked about the whole group helping with any children from our marriages so nothing would change there would just be more lessons to add to their teachings.”
You let out a sigh as you dropped your arms glancing at Bilbo who raised his hands, “I tried to tell him to inform you himself before the mountain found out.” Glancing at his Husband with a giggle, “I did warm you Thorin.”
“I’m going to get back to work then.” Kissing Dwalin on the cheek, “See you at lunch Pookie.”
Fili and Kili snorted as Dwalin said, “See you then Love.” Before turning back to the chuckling Princes with a stern gaze making their giggling stop.
Months later.
For a month now you’d had a creeping suspicion, one that had just become closer to truth as your figure shifted fuller, assuming at first it was the rich foods you were able to eat now that you were securely in place at home in your Mountain, the only drawback was the soreness that it triggered, your chest had grown nearly a full cup size and could barely be touched at all testing Dwalin’s patience slightly wishing to play with them loving every inch of your fuller figure. Not that he didn’t love you before but with these new inches around your hips and chest he had new territory for his hands to wander to, enjoying each swipe of his finger, lips and tongue over your body feeling as if he was tasting and feeling you for the first time again.
His hour long lunch break had started with him once again moving past the full table of food you’d laid out, kissing you passionately as his hands slid around your waist while your hands unhooked his fur vest and dragged him to the bedroom with a muffled giggle. Choosing to leave your announcement till he’d finally sat down to eat, both enjoying the brief trysts on his hour long lunch breaks since you’d first been intimate, your clothes now on the floor as you nudged him back to sit on the edge of the bed, watching as his eyes ran over your body in pure admiration, your hands pulling his to your waist as you straddled him. Lifting to take him in as you kissed him again, hearing his moan as you lowered yourself around him before his hands cupped you starting your rocking, both sinking into your rhythm as his hand inched over your stomach, breaking the kiss as you whispered, “Just be gentle with them, they’re still sore.”
He quickly kissed you again, “Of Course Love, I’d never dream of hurting you.” Kissing down your neck as his fingers gently slid over your chest as his lips grazed your collarbone before trailing over your chest gently peppering kisses across your swollen chest forcing a whimper from you as his other hand slid to stroke your core. His pace quickened as you reached your climax with his lips one again kissing along your neck causing a soft moan to escape you as bumps rose across your skin, his fingers traced along the edges of your breast as you moaned again, finishing around him, the tightening forcing a moan from him in return, your head resting against his for a moment as your breathing steadied. Your head pulled back as you felt his thumb running along your nipple hearing a confused chuckle come from him, your eyes dropping to his chest seeing the liquid running down it forcing your cheeks to heat up as he brushed his thumb around your nipple curiously covering it in the liquid before tapping it to his tongue tasting it before his eyes met yours, “It’s like milk, but sweeter.”
You giggled nervously, “Wanted to tell you over lunch, I’m pregnant.”
He gave you a large grin as he let out a loud laugh before kissing you passionately, “I love you! Mahal, I love you!” He turned with him still inside you holding you close to his chest and crawled to the middle of the bed laying you out and kissing along your neck as he slowly started to thrust again deeply slowing the pace, “I’m gonna show you just how much through every single moment, through every pregnancy, as our Children grow inside you.”
“Hopefully the milk thing won’t happen every time.”
Dwalin chuckled as he kissed and licked across your chest, “I don’t mind, make a mess, I’ll clean you up after.” Chuckling again as his tongue lapped up the drop that fell from his chest back to yours before kissing you again, after you’d both finished he’d carried you to your bath helping you scrub clean, “Why would your milk bother me Love?” Kissing down the back of your neck and across your shoulders, “It’s going to make our Little Ones grow strong like you.” Kissing you again helping you into your dress before you helped him redress, smiling at his beaming smile as his eyes slid over you while his hands ran over your stomach, when you both headed out your front door he pulled you in for another kiss asking, “Could you tell Thorin, I have to get back to the Front Gates for next patrol.”
You nodded, “Of course, I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to hear about having to demote his Nephews.”
He kissed you again, “They’re the eager ones, now they get it easier, try not to think of it like that, we’ve all been bumped up and down the list our entire lives, Thorin’s found his One, he’s immortal now, we all are when we find ours, and none of us are gonna be foolish enough to risk losing each other.” Curling his arm around you and leading you the main hallway leading to the Throne Room, giving you another excited kiss as he brushed his hand over your stomach again before heading back to work.

You reached the archway smiling at the two guards who bowed to you, your nerves rising as you heard Thorin’s voice echoing in the vast room as he gave his verdict on a squabble between two Dwarves, they bowed deeply and turned to leave as Thorin caught a glimpse of you entering, his stern expression dipping into a smile as the next group of Dwarves were brought up to him, bowing to him then to you and waiting patiently until you were done. He held his hand out to allow you to climb the steps to his Throne and shifted forward to greet you, “Morning Jaqi, anything wrong?” His eyebrows pressing together in concern at your nervous expression.
Your voice came out in a trembling whisper, “No, um, nothing wrong, just, you know about my title.”
He nodded leaning closer his voice dropping to a growling whisper, “Someone giving you a hard time about it? Dis hasn’t said anything about it has she, I told her not to rush you two.”
“Well she, sort of, but that was months ago, um, I should just say it, I’m pregnant.”
His face lit up, “Really?!” Letting out a loud laugh as he stood lifting you in a large hug curling his arms around you tightly before gently setting you down in his lap as he sat again, sure to keep you steady in the center of his lap, “Dwalin knows?”
You nodded with a giggle, “Just told him at lunch.”
His eyes glowed brightly as his smile grew, “This is incredible, may I?” Holding out his hand which you grabbed and set it on your stomach smiling at him.
“It’s not that far along yet, should be a few months before you can feel them move.”
His eyes went wider, “Them?”
You giggled again, “Right, I wasn’t supposed to tell you that yet, forgot to tell that part to Dwalin, didn’t want to scare him.”
“How many?”
“I count four heart beats.”
His eyebrows rose as his voice cracked, “Four?!”
You nodded, “That’s why I thought I’d wait.”
He let out another nervous chuckle before hugging you and kissing your forehead, “He’ll be thrilled, we all will, they’ll want for nothing and be well taken care of.”
You glanced at the long line of Dwarves behind you then back to Thorin, “Well I should let you get back to it.” He chuckled again after another peck on the forehead, helping you to your feet and holding his hands around your waist as you walked down the stairs before letting you go and heading back to his Throne as you went to work again helping Ori sort out the daily stacks of papers and sending out the various reports and documents needed by the Company through the Mountain.
For a week now you’d been congratulated by every Dwarf, Elf and Man that came across you, each grouping around you as you went up and down the various staircases and escorted across each bridge to assure your safety and that of your children, as Dwalin had left you’d been greeted with a surprise a letter from one of your Cousins back in the Shire, meeting up with Bilbo in the Market place to share the letter and eagerly opening it and reading the letter as you walked through the first doorway.
Your heart raced as your feet paused, the loud Marketplace muffled around you, blocked out by the sound of your heart pounding in your ears as everyone turned to look at you, finally drawing in a shaky breath as tears fell across your cheeks as a large hand gripped your shoulder shaking you gently causing your head to raise to look at the large Dwarf with a concerned look on his face.
A whimper escaping you as another flood of tears poured down your cheeks, your knees gave out and you were pulled into the Dwarves chest as you began violently sobbing into his chest as the Dwarves around you turned in a panic, their lips moving as they shouted for someone, finally Bilbo came sprinting into view dropping to his knees at your side, running his hand over your back before wrenching the letter from your hand when he spotted it, skimming over it before curling around you breaking into sobs himself. Finally the both of you were carried back to the Royal Wing by the Princes when they found you, both skimming the letter and laying you both down across Thorin’s bed and curled around you as you both to comfort you.
When Dwalin and Thorin both finally found you their heart plummeted when they were told that your younger sister, Bilbo’s Cousin and her husband had died and that Gandalf was bringing her newborns for you to care for, their mind racing with the memories of your adorable sister, practically your twin with just as much fire in her personality as you had earning her own place in their hearts, both holding back their tears as they curled around you trying to steady their One’s broke hearts. Your ear piercing scream had halted that days trades for nearly an hour as everyone scrambled searching for the source, as you and Bilbo had been carried away they stayed where they were, silently and patiently waiting for word on what had triggered such a response, and word of your loss had sunken their hearts even lower for you, hanging their heads from the weight of your loss and carrying on with their days.
Finally that night your crying had ceased, tears run dry as your eyes burned from the crying, gripping Dwalin’s arms tighter around you feeling him curl his entire body closer to you as you did, still whispering to you in Khuzdul as your eyes met Bilbo’s, just as puffy as yours as Thorin gripped him tightly against his chest, forcing the corner of his mouth to flick up as he reached out to grip your hand causing Thorin and Dwalin to lift their heads to see your moved hands.
Bilbo, “Gandalf should be here in the morning with the Little Ones.”
“Feels like it’s nearly morning.” Your voice coming out in a shaky whisper.
Thorin, “It’s just past midnight.” His head resting on Bilbo’s shoulder as he propped himself up kissing him on the cheek softly as he stroked his hand.
“Sorry I caused such..”
Dwalin raised up, Shh, now, you don’t apologize for anything, neither of you, every Dwarf in this Mountain would do the same if we had gotten that news.”
Thorin, “If you’d like, since you’re already expecting we, Bilbo and I could tend to her children, so you could prepare for yours.”
Bilbo turned to look at Thorin, “They’re barely a month old Thorin, they’ll need milk.”
Dwalin, “A month?”
“I will be needing help though, there’s two of them, they’ll need a bit of tending to.”
Thorin, “Of Course.”
You let out a sigh as you forced yourself up as Dwalin quickly sat behind you to steady you, sniffling as you wiped your cheeks and looking around, “I should eat something.” Dwalin helped you to the end of the bed and up to your feet as Bilbo sat and followed as Thorin shadowed him, keeping his hands fixed on his Hobbit Husband in case he’d need steadying or comfort, all pausing as Fili stepped through the door you were headed for, “Oh, um Thranduil brought a meal, bunch of food for you.” Glancing between you and Bilbo with a saddened gaze, then turning and leading you to the dining room on that floor, the Elf King turning to you with a similar gaze as he walked closer to you, lowering himself so you could hug him around his neck, “Thank you for the food.”
Bilbo joined the hug as he said, “Not a problem at all, I knew this might help, couldn’t just do nothing.” Pulling back giving you both kind smiles as his eyes filled with a knowing sadness as Bilbo said, “They’re coming early today, would you like to meet them?”
He smiled again, “I would love to.”
Your forehead rested against his shoulder for another moment before you pulled back and he led you both to your seats with your One’s curling around your sides, you pressed your head against Dwalin’s cheek as you ran your hands over your stomach, feeling his lay out over yours as his other curled around your back whispering in Khuzdul, “We’ll take good care of them Love, all of us.”
“I know.” Kissing him and rubbing your forehead against his before turning to the food and forcing yourself to eat.
After washing your face you headed down to the front Gates through the crowd of Dwarves all bowing to you with mournful glances as you and Bilbo passed with your Ones behind you, stopping at the gates as they opened, Thorin’s head tilted up to Thranduil as he tapped his shoulder before whispering, “Smile at them.”
Thorin raised his eyebrow, “What now?”
Thranduil, “I might not know much about Hobbits but I do know in times like these, you mourn until the children arrive, you never greet a Hobbit child with sadness.”
Dwalin, “What sort of rule is that?”
Thranduil, “Even after a fire, life returns, they’re hurting too, but they’ll need love and sunshine to grow, it hurts, but they’ll need you to be happy. You’ll see it in your One’s faces as they tend to the Little Ones, it may be strange but Hobbits refuse to focus on their pain.”
Their attention shifted forward as you stepped forward to greet Gandalf as he held a shrieking basket standing before a large eagle, you let out a sigh eyeing the basket, “Why are they in a basket?”
Gandalf glanced at you with a mournful gaze, “I had to make sure they would travel safely.”
Bilbo, “Yes, but a basket?” As he lifted the top so you could reach in, scooping them into your hands and laying them against your forearms, their shrieking stopping at your touch as you lifted them, leaning forward and pressing them to your chest before straightening again and turning as Bilbo grabbed the few bags Gandalf had brought after gently tapping their small feet as you said, “Thank you Gandalf.”
You turned back to Thorin and Dwalin and The Company behind them letting them see the two infants curled against your chest, both barely the size of a squash as you stepped closer to them, tapping each of their backs gently as their hands slid up to hold the neck line of your shirt as you said, “Frodo and Freya.” They both eyed their small bodies down to their curling toes on their tiny Hobbit feet, both gently reaching out to slide their fingers along their exposed skin hearing the cooing their touch had triggered.
Thorin, “They’re so small.”
“They’re just newborns still, they’ll shoot up later.”
Dwalin’s face lit up as Freya curled her fingers around his thick finger and cooed before meeting yours as you asked, “Want to hold her?”
His mouth opened for a moment as his eyes scanned her small body compared to his large hand seeing he could fit nearly her whole body in it, “Um.” Swallowing as you giggled, “You won’t hurt her.” Before helping him place her in his hands gently and lay her against his chest, seeing his eyes get misty as her tiny body curled against the exposed skin on his chest with her bottom and legs curled under his hand, smiling as she snuggled and cooed against him at his heartbeat. Your hand slid across Frodo’s back as you glanced at Thorin who was still mistily eyeing his tiny body, “You’ll be needing practice too.” Making his eyes dart to yours as his eyebrows lifted before helping him lay Frodo against his chest and letting out a giggle as he gripped onto one of his braids.
He let out a chuckle as he glanced down at him as you reached up to free his braid, his voice coming out in a velvety low voice, “He can hold it.”
You nodded and grabbed a bag from Bilbo and led the way back to the Royal Wing leaning your head against his as the two Dwarves behind you cradled the cooing infants as the crowds around you all looked on happily eyeing the tiny additions to the Royal Family.

..
Each member of the Company along with Thranduil, Tauriel and Legolas took turns cradling and stroking the infants welcoming them into the Family as the Elf King presented his gift, a baby bed for the twins since The Company had barely started on the bed for your children along with a bunch of food and extra blankets for you three. As the day stretched on you were curled in your rocking chair that Bilbo had made for you after helping you stretch them across your chest again as you hummed for them, Thorin had been called away nearly an hour earlier and had just sent word for his husband’s assistance leaving you alone with Dwalin who was fixing a dinner for you both.
He returned with a smile at seeing you still cradling them, holding a bowl of food in one hand with a chair in the other, setting it down beside you and settling into it before filling the spoon, sliding it along the rim of the bowl and offering it out to you, “You need to eat.”
You giggled, “I can..”
“Your hands are full, let me.” Smiling at you as he held the spoon closer to your lips, “I promised to care for you, and our Little Ones. When are they going to eat again?”
“Most likely when I’m done, they tend to wait until their Mother has eaten, adds more to the milk.”
He nodded with another smile at the infants, “Then let’s get you full so they can eat, do Hobbits tend to sleep through the night?”
“Hobbit children can stay awake for months at a time, infants normally around a week.” His smile dropped as his eyes met yours earning a giggle from you, “Don’t worry, Bilbo and I will take shifts, they’re usually even tempered. It shouldn’t affect your sleep at all, they seldom cry.”
Dwalin offered you another spoonful after regaining his breathing, “I’m more worried about your sleep Love.” Gently rubbing your stomach.
“Which is why Bilbo and I will be taking shifts.”
He let out a sigh as he offered you another spoonful, giving them another smile, when you finally reached the bottom of the bowl he took the dishes away as you unhooked your shirt as they wiggled, before helping them start to eat, Dwalin sat close to your side gently stroking their feet and hands, kissing them tenderly as they ate while listening to you humming to them and joining you when he recognized the tune. He let out another chuckle, “They always eat this much?”
You giggled, “Always, just wait until they’re older and we have to cook all their meals.” Earning a chuckle from him as is mind raced through your possible future.
He gently helped lift them so you could close your shirt again after they’d finished, cradling Freya as you both went to lay down as you held Frodo, stretching out on the bed with them between you, his eyes fixed on them until you raised his chin and kissed him, his hand curled around your cheek letting out a low hum before puling back hearing you whisper, “Don’t forget about us Pookie” as you stroked his cheek.
He met your gaze, “I won’t, I swear to you I won’t.” Kissing you again with a chuckle as two hands reached up to tap your chins breaking you apart to gaze at them lovingly as you slid your fingers over their skin, curling around them again as you both started humming again, one of your arms curling over your heads running through each other’s hair as your other hands stayed on the infants. As Dwalin grew drowsier you lifted them into the cradle that you’d pressed against the bed so they could be close as you helped him undress, and curled up next to him, pulling him in for a passionate kiss before letting him curl around you so he could sleep as you slid your arm through the bar to stroke their skin.
You woke to find Dwalin already up making a breakfast for you both, sitting up you glanced at Frodo and Freya as they wiggled their feet together cooing to each other before looking up at you with a happy squeak, the sudden noise triggered Dwalin to run back into the room forcing a giggle from you when you caught his expression, “They’re happy, nothing’s wrong.” He nodded and let out a breath giving you a smile as he headed back into the kitchen, you glanced back down with another smile, your eyes misting at seeing your sister’s eyes in them, as you reached down to stroke their cheeks before standing to get another set of diapers and carrying them to the bathroom to change them, smiling up at Dwalin as he stepped in cautiously.
Dwalin, “I um, here I’ll help.” Timidly joining your side at the counter to change Freya, groaning as he opened the diaper and cleaned her up, watching how you’d wrapped the cloth diaper before adding her new one, “These are much more efficient than the ones we used for the Princes, needed five pins and a ribbon to fasten them.” Lifting her against his chest carefully and carrying her to the kitchen where he’d taken the crib to as you followed, laying them both down so you could eat. “Gandalf said they’d have the rest of their nursery brought over later this morning, along with everything else.” His head turned to the doorway as a gentle knock sounded, “Now who could that be this early?” Standing and going to answer the door.
He returned with Thorin who nervously peered inside at you darting his eyes to the cradle before nodding his head to you, “Thought I’d see if you needed any help with breakfast.”
You giggled catching his eyes wandering to the crib again, nodding your head to the side, “You can see them if you want Thorin.”
He smiled and rushed to their side smiling wider as he leaned over the crib gently reaching in to have his fingers squeezed as Bilbo sleepily waddled in the room wiping his eyes, “Honestly Thorin, I told you they’d be alright, honestly Fauntlings barely fuss at all.”
You giggled at the Dwarf Kings cooing back at the infants in nothing but his pajama pants as his still partially knotted hair hung down in front of him before turning back to Bilbo, “You hungry Bilbo?”
Bilbo, “Starving.” Brushing his hand down Thorin’s large shirt as he settled into the chair beside you, “You sleep at all?”
You nodded, “Few hours off and on.”
Bilbo nodded, “Same. That one there wouldn’t stop asking bout them all night.”
Your smile grew as Dwalin entered the room again with the food, serving you first giving you a kiss as he gently rubbed your stomach, still without a bump yet in your eyes but growing every day in his, then laying out the rest before taking his place at Thorin’s side as he shifted over so they could share the view, “You both need to eat as well you know.”
They both glanced up at you then back down to the crib before letting out sighs before claiming their seats and quickly shoveling back their meals so they could stare at the babies again, after you ate you headed to the bedroom to change into a pair of knee length pants, pulling out of Dwalin’s shirt and adding a nursing shirt you’d made before returning with a small blanket, smiling at the two Dwarves who were nervously speaking to the pair as they started to squeak and squirm knowing it was time to eat, both glancing up at you as you entered with a smile. Both gently lifted one of them as you sat back in your seat and undid your shirt laying the blanket over your chest as you adjusted them so they could eat as the pair of Dwarves knelt beside you running their fingers along their feet as you giggled at their entranced expressions, “What is it with Dwarves and babies?”
They both glanced up at you with a chuckle as their eyes sparkled up at you, “We rarely see them, the Mountain can wait.”
You giggled as Bilbo grunted out, “Not likely.”
You all glanced up as the rest of the Company and a very unkempt Dis stepped in cautiously, each still in their sleeping clothes, all timidly eyeing the small feet hanging out from under the blanket across your chest and adding more food they’d brought to the table, each offering you more to eat, your hand moving to support both of them so you could eat with your other hand. All of them eating and nervously shifting as they waited for their nursing to end, both Dwarves happily claiming one each as you clothed yourself again and went to bathe after claiming a kiss from Dwalin and kissing the infants backs, as you reached the doorway you spotted Bilbo joining you as the Dwarves all swarmed around the Fauntlings.
..
Eventually Thorin and Dwalin both had to leave for work, finally dragging themselves away after leaving Bilbo to assist you, the rest of the Dwarves all heading out shortly after for their jobs, each mentally shifting their schedules so they could check on you through the day. Rolling the crib back against the bed you and Bilbo laid out for a nap before the knock signaling the delivery of your half sister’s belongings, both tearily setting up the nursery and adding the rest to the empty spare room before Bilbo headed out to at least get some work done after helping you into your baby carrier, two loops of fabric across your chest to cradle them so you could head to work after slipping on your socks and shoes and grabbing your bag you’d filled with snacks and water along with baby supplies.
All the Dwarves bowed to you eying you closely trying to get a glimpse at the babies as you passed them, only able to see the tiny hand gripping yours from between the slings as you made your way to the records room, receiving a shocked smile from Ori when he spotted you, “I didn’t think you’d be down so soon.”
You giggled, “I can’t stand sitting still all day, they’re very well behaved. Besides, whose gonna take my job, I can’t just pile it all on you.”
..
As you’d finished your sorting you snacked again and helped them to another nursing before changing them and curling them back in their carriers, gripping your stack of papers and heading out to deliver them making a stop at your room along the way to drop off their dirty diapers before heading to deliver the small stack to Thorin. All the Dwarves’ eyes fixed on you partially in shock at your being back at work as you approached the King as Dwalin said, “What’re you doing back at work?”
You rolled your eyes, “Like I could sit still this long.”
Thorin grabbed the papers setting them on the table as he folded back the cloth so he could glance at the cooing Fauntlings inside, smiling at them as he wiggled his fingers between them, “Have the pebbles been eating enough?”
You giggled at his nickname for them, “Yes, had a feeding and a changing since breakfast, due for another in around an hour.”
Thorin, “Mhmm.” Partially ignoring you letting out a chuckle as they gripped his fingers as the Dwarves around you lifted up to get a glimpse at them as Dwalin moved over to curl around your back, “Want to sit, I’m sure your legs are tired.”
“I suppose.” He kissed your cheek leading you to his chair helping you into it at Thorin’s left as another Dwarf brought another chair from along the wall for him to sit in on your left, all of them watched as you lifted them higher out of their carriers onto your chest as you leaned back in the chair, running your fingers along their arms as they wiggled their fingers, arms, legs and toes.
Finally the meeting started again as they forced their eyes back to their work with a few glances back at them, all surprised that they were so quiet and well behaved, as the hours passed you reached for a snack quickly eating your fill before pulling out the blanket you’d packed and laying it over your chest as you helped the squirming infants to start nursing again. Through their nursing Thorin and Dwalin both held their fingers on the tiny feet hanging out of the blanket, both eagerly asking if they could hold one, smiling as you nodded, gently curling their hands around them and laying their choice across their chests and beaming as they stretched their large hands over their backs as they curled their hands around their fingers and braids in their hair.
..
For days you’d slipped through your now group breakfast as they fawned over the infants, as you bathed and changed after their feeding and changing, each Dwarf rotating on the first changing to lighten your load. Each night Dwalin would return to find you stretched out on your bed kissing their feet and hands as they giggled and ran their finger through your hair. Then carrying you for a bath sliding the crib into the room with you along the wall to keep an eye on them as Dwalin dried you and took over your pampering routine for you and for him, unwilling to let you stress any more than necessary, loving the familiar trimmed and smooth feeling on his feet and hands and knowing he’d need his hands as gentle as possible for his pebbles.
Today you’d been woken by the silent shifting of the mattress as Thorin sat near the crib, your eyes squinting through the darkness at the Dwarf King, pulling your arm free and stretching it out to tap his side causing him to flinch and turn to look at you with a stunned look on his face at being caught. You giggled as Dwalin grunted and tightened around your chest as you patted the bed in front of you whispering, “Lay down, you need to rest.”
He grumbled and stretched out, sliding his hand through the bars as he laid down feeling your arm curl across his chest with a smirk before turning to look at you whispering, “How are your growing Pebbles?”
“They’re growing, bump started showing yesterday.” Your eyes meeting his before they dropped to your stomach as you let out a chuckle, grabbing his hand and sliding it under the blanket over your stomach as his smile grew gently tracing your growing children.
“Any sickness or pains yet? Dis had a hard first year.”
“Had some soreness when the milk started, some dizziness but only if I don’t eat enough.”
He nodded with another smile as he drew his hand back sliding it back into the grip of the squirming twins as you laid your arm over his chest again, “I’ll make sure your pantry is always full for you, can’t imagine how much you’d have to eat to make enough milk for 6 pebbles to eat every few hours.”
You giggled again, “They’ll both be starting solids when I get close to labor, won’t have to eat much more, as it is they could nurse for much longer, my body makes enough for four.”
He glanced at you again curiously, “Does it hurt, having that much milk left?”
“Sometimes.”
“Do we need to find you more children to nurse?”
You settled your head on his shoulder, “No, we only nurse our own kin, unless there is another child you wish for me to adopt Your Majesty.”
He rolled his eyes, “I can’t have you in pain.”
“Does your neck ever get sore from that crown of yours?”
His eyes squinted for a moment, “Sometimes.”
“There’s a bit of soreness from every one of our duties, motherhood included, it’s barely noticeable most of the time.”
He slid his hand over your arm letting out a sigh closing his eyes after kissing your forehead, “Still, if there’s anything I could do to lessen your pain let me know.”
“Does Bilbo know you’re here?”
“I’m sure he’ll guess it soon enough.”
You giggled again, “Great then Dwalin will wake up with you and him in our bed too.” Earning a quiet chuckle from him before you slipped back into sleep.
.
A few hours later you’d woken again to find Bilbo curled across Thorin’s chest earning a surprised grunt from Dwalin when he woke, gently stroking your stomach and giving you a kiss before starting to climb out of bed to make breakfast leaving you to snuggle against the King’s shoulder. Your breakfast was quick and crowded once again followed by them clearing out so you and Dwalin could bathe together with Frodo and Freya before dressing again and heading to work, you had your lunch early and headed to Thorin’s meeting curling one of the carriers around his chest and the other around Bilbo’s so they could watch them giving you a break. Quickly heading upstairs again you made lunch for Dwalin who entered with a large smile as he peered trough the rooms, his smile fading as he couldn’t find the babies, “Jaqi!!”
Your head popped out of the kitchen, “What’s wrong?”
“The pebbles?”
“Thorin and Bilbo are watching them.” You walked over to him as he nodded and let out a slow breath calming himself as you ran your fingers along his vest, “Thought you might enjoy a quiet lunch together.”
His eyes locking with yours as a smirk slid across his face as he leaned down to kiss you sliding his hands around your waist pulling you against him, “That I would Love.” His lips crashing into yours hungrily as his hands slid to your ass lifting you as your legs curled around him carrying you to your bed, quickly stripping and eagerly sliding into you making love to you passionately and carefully, not willing to harm your growing pebbles and curling around you for another round of passionate kissing during your second bath before finally eating and heading back to work.
After another snack you headed down to relieve Thorin and Bilbo, sensing that they’d be hungry soon, giggling as you’d entered to find the King changing Frodo on the table struggling to figure out how to secure the diaper even through Bilbo’s instructions, his head turned to look for the clasp as Frodo started peeing everywhere greeted with a round of “Woah” from several of the surrounding Dwarves and loud laughter from the Princes at the height it reached, finally stopping as Bilbo dried him off with a towel you’d packed for them along with the table around him as another Dwarf carried off the dirty diaper to get rid of as Thorin managed to cover him and secure it finally before glancing up at you with a nervous chuckle. “Still not used to these new Hobbit diapers, had the Dwarf ones down easy, I’ll get it though.”
You giggled again as you reached his side, “I know you will.”
His eyes sparkled as he glanced up at you with a large smile lifting Frodo against his chest after securing his onesie, “Time for another nursing?”
Frodo let out a squeaking whine as he reached Thorin’s chest earning a chuckle from him as his Sister quickly echoed his whine, “Yes it is.”
He chuckled and had another chair pulled over for you and helped you lay them across your chest before covering you with the blanket and claiming his seat again before looping his fingers around Frodo’s foot with a large smile as he turned back to his meeting with the beaming counsel.
..
Through the next few months your four had tangled together a chaotically organized arrangement quad-parenting the twins as they grew, now both three times the size they were, now the size of a large Dwarf infant as your stomach now had an emphasized curve to it as the dips in your sides gradually pushed out as you grew. Each of the Dwarves all claiming their turns with the carriers to grant you a break, Dwalin being the most common, a few times a week seen proudly strutting across the main gates overlook with his fingers curled in theirs with his axe across his shoulders during his checks on the Guards out there, not being allowed to stay uncovered for long with them across his chest before finally returning to your bed to curl up with them across his chest humming to them as they curled their fingers through his beard. Your second nursery had finally been finished at your urging hoping to get it finalized well before your labor, each day bursting with the possible celebration of another milestone in their short lives, the largest being their first words.
As the Counsel erupted around them, forgetting their presence momentarily in their constant silence, until a loud shriek came from Freya as she pointed at Thorin with her arms outstretched, “EMU!!” Making his face light up with a large smile at her attempt to say, Emulhekh (Majesty) in Khuzdul, before Frodo reached for Dwalin, “SANZI!” short for Sanzigil(Mithril), nicknames that they shared for the both of them, that single event leading to a two day party through the whole mountain.
The next party was triggered by your bursting into another meeting, one with all the visiting Dwarf Lords and Elf Lords, all of them going silent as they saw you scramble in with the two children squirming in your arms as Thorin and Dwalin jumped to their feet, stopping as you said, “No, wait there.” As you dropped to your knees setting the both of them down, their faces twisting as they looked from you to the twins before dropping to their own knees as they saw them scramble to their feet, both letting out bubbling giggles as they saw the Dwarves kneeling before them with large smiles. Kicking out their feet taking their first steps as the Lords and Dwarves around them all gasped as they watched them cross the few feet to the outstretched fingers of Dwalin and Thorin who were smiling and chuckling proudly, earning nearly a week long celebration shared with the Elves and Dwarves.
