I got a really aggressive email this morning from someone who disagrees with my legal advice, and now I just feel like throwing out my laptop.
#i literally started the email with: i take the conservative position#which means there is not clear law on this#so this is the position that protects you from the ambiguity#because the ambiguity will be decided by an undertrained cbp officer#who has all of the discretion#if you prefer to roll the dice with that#on behalf of your billion dollar company#and two minor clients#then fine#also 'every one else does it' is not a persuasive legal argument

If you genuinely think jared helped evan forge the emails just for the 20 bucks I'll look at you a lil weird bc like.. genuinely, how?
#deh#no bc i mean... “ill lie to everyone i know with no reward except for like a measy few bucks and keep you safe never uncovering your lie -#even when you abandon me.“#like..... cmon guys. cmon.#he was doing his best to make the emails realistic. to protect evan. if he only did that for the money he wouldn't have helped at all.#hed just backdate the emails and call it a day!#nor would he use it to spend more time with evan after he shot him down to getting drunk together.#like. there is something here.#and ik not everyone thinks jareds in love with evan (even tho he is) but youve got to at least admit that he likes him platonically#dear evan hansen#jared kleinman#kleinsen#duh#its always kleinsen

Me, very politely in an email to my department: This would be a very long day of work, would someone be willing to help me out?
One co-worker's reply: It's just an extra hour. Stop being a whiny piss baby. Just drive four hours, do three hours work, drive another hour, do about half an hour's work, and then drive two more hours all in one day like a fucking grown-up.
#I didn't play the ''I am having a heart condition flare up'' card in the email#bc I didn't want to. it felt a bit manipulative.#but CLEARLY I should have#anyways I went to my boss about it bc I'm not trying to get out of work#I AM TRYING TO PROTECT MY FUCKING HEART HEALTH#YES I agreed to that long day. BEFORE I WENT TO THE ER FOR MULTI-DAY PALPITATIONS#I am currently wearing a heart monitor and will be for TWO WEEKS#I just. I'm fucking pissed. I'm so pissed.#whine whine whine

another thing that massively pisses me off.
when you call someplace and they want your first and last name and a ton of other personal info just to answer a simple general question that Does Not involve you specifically in the slightest
you literally don't need to know all that just answer my question!!!!!!
#called the college i am going to be transferring to to get the school code i need for a form#i had called this number twice before and like previously i didn't mind all the verification all that much#bc i was calling for info specific to me#but this time it was just the school code that's the same for everyone and isn't like protected info or anything#and they were insisting on getting my first and last name and address date of birth and phone number#the phone number on my account is wrong so the last few times i called they verified with my email instead#but this person was like ermm i can't used email#what do you meannnn i have done this every other time including literally earlier today#also#YOU LITERALLY DON'T NEED ALL THIS JUST TO TELL ME THE SCHOOL CODE#explodes them

past me squirreled away so many little bread crumbs over the years to lead me back to information and records and things that I kept that I didn’t consciously allow myself to understand I might need someday again
#😭#crying in the bathroom a bit about it not gonna lie#I had so much evidence. so much proof#not of everything or many of the big things but of so many smaller things#and it’s been there all this time. I saved it and forgot about it and trusted that future me would follow the crumbs back to the note the#journal the email the flash drive the screenshot the sketchbook the post it note in a sports bag—#on and on and on#I saved so much#and then I saved my own self from knowing it#even when I would have wanted to use it earlier a few years ago#my brain protected it like I had coded it to#and everything keeps proceeding each year with me remembering more and more times when little me or high school me made silo-ing decisions#that shaped my safety without sacrificing the evidence or truth ultimately#I was much more cunning than I gave myself credit for after age 10 or so#I just had to hide it from my own self or I would have been made while still unsafe#brains are so powerful#and past me did something so kind for future me even though it was harder#and I’m really full of gratitude#this feels like something healing after how much trouble I’ve had almost passing out over and over today#I’ve always been looking out for me. I just haven’t always remembered that that was true.#shh Katie#cult escapee

was talking with my parents about AI today and they had some genuinely really interesting perspectives on it
my mum is an oncology pharmacist and said that AI could be really useful for analysing test results and identifying potentially cancerous tumours in patients’ scans. essentially, it could highlight areas that the oncologist looking over the results may want to focus on. but they’d never leave it up to AI to diagnose the patient (ignoring that this would likely lead to biopsies and further tests, etc)
my dad is a software engineer. he’s 61 and wrote his dissertation on a typewriter because word processors either weren’t invented or not common enough that a university student could have one. he’s worked with computers pretty much since they were invented (in the modern sense). he put some code he was working on into the AI at his work just to see how good it was. it pulled up one line of code, that was abnormal for a specific reason that helped it to do what it needed to do. he told it the reason and apparently the AI was like “oh yeah.” and ran another analysis and the code was fine. which he knew because coding chips for household appliances is relatively simple compared to working on the Opportunity rover. but he still checked it over because he’s an old tech guy and will die before he has a “smart” appliance. real.
my point is, that they both used AI for things that actively helped their jobs. it could help increase the productivity of oncologists, in my mum’s case, and if you know anything about cancer you know that time is of the essence. in my dad’s case, it potentially could have highlighted a potential error that needed to be fixed before the code was sent off for second testing or whatever the fuck- I don’t know, I used to work in oncology myself but never in tech. but it could’ve saved him embarrassment and also several weeks of crashing out over broken code, which has happened in the past. he’s on first name terms with the guy who runs the test branch in Vietnam now. but my point is, no one took AI’s answer for granted. they used it and analysed it. there is not ever going to be a world where an oncologist will look at an AI result and feed back to a patient without fully analysing it, using AI as an assist if that.
my current job is in corporate and they’re desperately pushing for us to use it more - for emails, customer communications, etc, because it’s “quicker”.
another thing about my parents is that they’re both artists. my mum is a traditional artist and my dad is a photographer. they’ve both won awards. I’m an aspiring writer. one thing we all agreed on is that AI needs to stay the fuck out of creative industries. when I push to publish, I am going to have a clause in my contract that AI cannot be used in any capacity relating to my work.
I am currently the reason our area manager has to ban discussing the morals of AI every time he mentions the implementation in meetings.
AI could be brilliant for the medical field. it could stop stupid errors going through in the tech field. but it needs human oversight.
#AI#I just think if you work in corporate and can’t write an email you are cooked#our job is email#the way my job wants to bring in ai is gonna be hell for data protection

Preaching to all people who think some content creator are messaging minor for no reason
aka Twitter/tumblr cross over users.
AhEm... YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER(S) CAN SEE THE THINGS YOU DO WITH YOUR INTERNET AND THAT INCLUDES MESSAGING
(and discord... because you're using the internet to get on there... As hotspots too)
This means if a content creator is messaging a minor in an inappropriate or bullying way (in the UK at least) they would come knocking at you door asking for all your personal information, identification, means of contact and be asking questions.
Has that content creator been arrest yet? Nope.
Is cyber bullying/harassment a crime in the UK?
Yes! Under the laws:
Protection from Harassment Act 1997
Malicious Communications Act 1988
Defamation Act 2017
And can even prevent you from getting jobs in the future of your employment wants to look at your social media! Which is legal! (as in they want to make sure you're not a weirdo or anything! They can't deny you a job based on political stuff or opinions on other companies!)
Is messaging a minor inappropriately a crime?
FUCK YES‼️‼️
Sooooooo keep this in mind when you post things online, that the government CAN BE INFORMED OF YOUR ACTIONS ON THE INTERNET BY YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER IF YOU DO SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS OR THAT BREAKS THE LAW
#mcyt#Dsmp#Dream smp#Mcc#mc championship#trafficblr#Life series#(cough cough looking at Smajor Tubbo Tommy Jack Manifold Grian Joel Jimmy Solidaritygaming haters cough cough)#seriously though#Even in incognito mode can see you.#And it's NOT an invasion of privacy if you're using it to protect people#“but the government is watching us!” now present the schooling system. Security cameras. Birth certificate. Traffic cameras. Social security#-passports. Email addresses. Purchases in general. Calling the local government for help with something#-public social media accounts. Voting. Crime survey of England and Wales. Census. Jury Duty. Health/NHS surveys. Hospitals Check ups.#You name it! They have it!#So. Stop pretending like they don't#Discourse

Irwin,
I’m probably the last person you want to hear from. You’re also probably wondering how I got your email address—blame Ken. I know how you are so I’ll get straight to the point. I’ve come across a lucrative deal that I just can’t ignore, and I need you. I need you for one last job.

Even though we’ve ignored each other for— God knows how long— I just had to reach out because you’re the only one I trust. Should you choose to accept this job, I’ll split everything down the middle and I swear this’ll be the last time that you’ll have to protect me.
-Ted
P.s. If all goes well, I’d love nothing more than to catch up. I’ve missed you. There is so much that I need to tell you.
