as i’m procrastinating some designs for the main players in diane’s dimension, here are some of her inter-dimensional gaggle of children!
around 6 years into her time as a dimensional traveler, diane set up a rest stop of sorts (that became her home) at the outskirts of the nightmare dimension for anyone who finds themselves suddenly forced out of their home dimension, or in urgent need of supplies
however, whenever a child finds themselves in that position, diane takes it upon herself to watch after and take care of them, even refusing to take bounties unless absolutely necessary, until they are old enough to decide for themselves if they want to stay or leave - these three are the ones who choose to stay
furthest left is Hg80, from a dimension where people are made out of elements from the periodic table (diane’s nickname for them is hattie)
in the middle is charlie simmons, an outcast from the finger dimension after being born with syndactyly (hence why he wears gloves)
and furthest right is velquus caballissi, from a dimension where the most intelligent species are dinosaur-horse-bug-adjacent, and who fell into the nightmare realm just after hatching

Natasha Romanoff x Reader : Thin Line
Summary: You’re wild and free. She’s strict and trained. You and Natasha are polar opposites and it drives her crazy. Each move you make annoys her to no end. But, there’s a thin line between annoyance and adoration.
Rating: 18+ Violence, Language, Blood, Death, and Smut.
Chapter 8
If you could rewind time you would in an instant.
You couldn’t put your finger on when everything had gone to shit.
Sure you were there, you saw as the team split in two in the compound, difference of right and wrong and opinion driving a pointed wedge into the bond that had been forged. But still a big part of you hoped things wouldn’t get as bad as they had.
That hope faded the day of the signing.
It had all happened so quickly there was no possible way you could’ve stopped it.
One second you’re meeting King T’Chaka and Prince T’Challa alongside Natasha, then the building is blown up, and the next thing you know, you’re waking up in a medical bed.
You groggily open your eyes, all your senses fading in. You hear the TV in the room and you sit up quickly, which is a bad move.
“I’d slow down if I were you, you took a pretty big hit.”
Following the voice, you find Doctor Cho, head of the Avengers med team. She walks closer with a clipboard in hand.
“Can you tell me what you remember?”
You hold up a finger, eyes glued to the screen.
“Bucky?” You find yourself whispering in disbelief.
The news was claiming he blew up the UN in Vienna. Blurry security footage put him at the scene.
You didn’t know much about the Winter Soldier, only what Steve, Natasha, and old S.H.I.E.L.D records had disclosed. He was under HYDRA control, marked dangerous, he saved Steve from drowning after S.H.I.E.L.D went down, and he vanished.
But he’s been quiet this entire time. Not once had anyone been able to find him and he just popped up to blow up a UN building.
Shaking your head, you look away from the TV, focusing on Doctor Cho. You answer her previously asked question,“ everything except coming here.”
“Right, well, you’ve sustained injuries to your torso and head. Nothing too serious, just some bruising on your shoulders and ribs and the cut on your head. Miss Romanoff says the chairs kept the explosion from doing any major damage.”
The lack of Natasha’s presence was the first thing you noticed, and then the TV.
“Am I clear to leave or do you need to run some tests?”
“No, you’re clear to go, just let me unhook you.”
Doctor Cho makes quick work of unhooking you from the heart monitor and taking out the IV. The second you’re unhooked she double checks your injuries and sends you on your way with a warning to take it easy.
As you’re leaving out you take in the outfit you’ve been put in. Black Stark Industries sweatpants, a plain grey t-shirt, and black trainers.
You make your way through the facility with ease, finding the two heads of your team. Tony was going at it with Steve, with the news report you saw, you already know what chaos is ensuing.
They’re the only two in the room, causing you to look around. Federal agents walk around but your eyes settle on your red headed girlfriend.
She turns to you as you approach and a small smile graces her lips,“ you’re awake.”
“Yeah.”
“How’re you feeling? You threw yourself in front of me the second the bomb went off.” She informs you.
Nodding, you subtly take her hand and she laces her fingers with yours,“ I remember. Doctor Cho says I’m fine though. Just some bruising.”
Her eyebrow quirks and she smooths the thumb of her free hand over the cut on your head,“ just some bruising?”
“I’m fine Pretty Girl.” You assure her with a smile.“ But everyone else isn’t.” You send a glance to Tony and Steve in the glass room.
Natasha sighs, filling you in on everything that’s happened since the bomb. All you knew was that they said Barnes bombed the building. She tells you that King T’Chaka was killed and all about Prince T’Challa going after Barnes. You’re not in the least bit surprised when she tells you about Steve and Sam going for Barnes by themselves.
You just know this means everything is spiraling down fast and with your number one girl being okay and in front of you, you’re inclined to worry about your best friend.
“Do you have my phone?”
She narrows her eyes but pulls your phone out and hands it to you anyway.
Giving a gentle smile, you squeeze her hand, before walking away and dialing the compound.
It rings twice before you hear Wanda’s voice.
“Y/N?”
“Hey Wan.”
“You said you’d be back.” Her accusatory tone is laced with sadness.
Sighing, you drop your head,“ I know, and I planned to, I just got caught up in all kinds of things.”
“Y/N, what’s going on? There’s a reason Tony has me trapped in the compound.”
Tony locked her in the compound? Honestly it makes sense with everything going on. But has he really not told her about anything?
“He’s just trying to keep you safe Wan, we all are. Things are really tense between the team and the government right now and we don’t want them finding any excuses to hurt you.”
“They already have excuses.”
“All the more reason that you stay there. We’re doing our best to fix things.”
“Your efforts won’t mean anything to them.”
“Come on Wan-”
“I have to go.”
“Wanda don’t-” But she’s hung up already.
“Dammit.”
A gentle hand runs up your shoulder, the touch familiar and as calming as it can be given the circumstances.
Your body moves with the heavy sigh you give and when you face Natasha you give a soft smile.
“Did you know Tony locked her up in the compound?” You ask.
There’s no accusation in your tone, you’re just curious.
But when she nods you’re hurt. Why hadn’t she told you? Did she not trust that you’d keep it quiet or did she think you wouldn’t understand?
“Y/N, I know how much you care about Wanda, I wasn’t sure-”
“It’s fine. Let’s just focus on whatever the hell is about to happen to our friends.”
As gently as possible, you take her hand off your shoulder and walk away to the surveillance system.
Tony raises an eyebrow at you but limits conversation to that. You both look to the cameras as Bucky’s interview begins. Natasha stands as close to you as possible.
She knew she’d regret not telling you, but having seen how much you care for Wanda, she went with her gut and kept quiet.
No you hadn’t blown up at her, shouted and accused her of not trusting you. But your silence said more than your words would have.
You have always been willing to talk to Natasha about anything, whether you were upset with her or feeling cheesy and romantic, you used your words to express yourself. Saying nothing at all to her scared Natasha more than anything.
The doctor had spoken to Bucky for all of two minutes before the power shut off.
Tony immediately looked for source of the power outage. One glance back at the now empty glass room, you know Steve and Sam went for Bucky.
Federal agents were running around working to get the power back up and Agent Ross demanded to get eyes on Barnes.
You knew that wasn’t the problem though. It’s definitely a problem but not the problem.
More important than that, you wonder who the hell just questioned Bucky.
Wasting no time, you, Tony, and Natasha hurry upstairs.
“Please tell me you brought a suit.” Natasha says as calm as ever.
Tony unbottons his jacket and answers,“ sure did. It's a lovely Tom Ford, three-piece, two-button. I'm an active-duty non-combatant.”
“And it’s lovely, but also not bullet proof.” You remark, inciting a raised brow from him. You simply shrug.
Sharon Carter hurries by, telling you three to follow her and you do, putting ear pieces in on the way. You end up right at the fight.
With Bucky distracted by other agents you all manage to get into position.
Natasha and Sharon go after Barnes the moment he’s taken Tony down and once Sharon is down you attack as well.
He has Natasha pinned to a table, metal hand choking her when you slide in, kicking his leg and making him let her go.
Your eyes widen as he punches at you with his metal hand, quickly rolling away and jumping up you aim a kick at his side and he grabs your leg, flinging you into a cluster of tables.
Had you not already been injured you would’ve gotten up faster but that didn’t matter, Prince T’Challa seemingly appearing out of thin air, goes for Bucky and they’re quick to leave your like of sight.
Every muscle in your body screams in protest when you start to sit up. Your head pounds a little but your worry shifts to the red head you just watched get choked.
Groaning, you push yourself up, clutching your side in pain, and going over to her.
She’s still breathing heavily, eyes on the ceiling in slight shock.
“Hey, eyes on me Romanoff, you’re okay.” You tell her, free hand gently gripping her shoulder and pulling her into a sitting position on the table.
When she focuses on you her eyes scan your even more injured form but you don’t let her dwell on it, instead turning to Tony and Sharon.
Tony’s still on the ground, a bruise quickly forming on his cheek, but apart from shock he’s other wise okay. Sharon however is out cold.
You squeeze Natasha’s shoulder before going over to the blonde and kneeling down. Her chest moves with shallow breaths so you know she’s not dead but that doesn’t mean she’s okay.
“Come on Carter.” You grumble, sliding an arm under her legs and one behind her back, ignoring every bit of pain you feel.
Both Natasha and Tony watch you as you carry the blonde.
“Don’t just stare at me, get up, come with me to medical.” You nearly snap at the two.
A brief pause, then they’re getting up, and following you. Or at least they start to.
When they see Secretary Ross they follow after him and after you’ve taken Sharon to medical, you go to where they are.
Natasha’s voice is the first to meet your ears,“ what happens when the shooting starts? What, you gonna kill Steve Rogers?”
You frown, eyes instantly snapping to the Secretary as he answers.
“If we’re provoked. Barnes would’ve been eliminated in Romania if it wasn’t for Rogers.”
“Which is better how?” You speak up.“ Had you killed Barnes this would be an even bigger shit show.”
The secretary eyes you,“ there are dead people who would be alive now. Feel free to check my math.” His gaze shifts to Tony.
They go back and forth until Mister Secretary tells Tony you all have 36 hours to bring them in.
Your eyes don’t leave Ross until he’s completely gone.
Tony slumps into his chair, hand running over his chest, mentioning the numbness of his arm. Natasha stands and places a hand on his shoulder.
“You alright?”
For the briefest moment you see him about to say no, but he pulls it together and says always. Before you all launch into a plan.
Natasha and Tony make their plans clear before looking to you.
You heave a sigh,“ I have to go to the compound.”
They both hold uncertain gazes.
“If Steve tries to reach Wanda I have to interfere. If he involves her any further it’s game over for her and I can’t let that happen.”
Natasha steps to you, hand finding your wrist,“ you know it won’t be that easy.”
“Has it ever been?”
********
Fast isn’t fast enough. When you get to the compound there’s an explosion in the distance.
Heart pounding, you race to find Wanda. Eyes darting in every possible direction.
Steve came for her just like you thought her would.
Fear starts to creep in. It plays on every doubt you’ve had about all of this working out and it makes you move faster.
You run into her, and surpisngly Clint, at the entrance.
Looking at Clint, you quirk an eyebrow,“ you know your best friends on the other side of things don’t you?”
He shrugs,“ it’s not often that Nat and I see eye to eye. But it’s good that you two have each other’s backs.”
“Guys,” your shoulders drop,“ we should all have each other’s backs. Forgive me for still singing kumbaya but, there’s still a chance we can fix things.”
They both stare at you, taking in your words,“ you join Steve and this gets near impossible to come back from.”
Clint is the one who replies,“ you know it isn’t that simple.”
“But it is! All of this is making it harder.” Your arms gesture around you, mainly to the smoke billowing in the distance.
The building literally shakes and for a moment you wonder if it’s another bomb, you wonder who else is here. And then you remember: Vision.
Wanda doesn’t meet your eyes when you look at her and it’s clear she did something to him. You know she would never truly hurt him but they got past him somehow and you know it wasn’t Clint.
“Y/L/N get outta the way.” The archer’s eyes plead with you, knowing that if Vision gets to them again they won’t be able to leave.
But you don’t care, you’re goal here is bigger than whatever his reasons are.
Ignoring him, you look directly at your best friend,“ I told you I’d come back. I’m here now Wan and I need you to trust me.”
“I did.”
Your heart breaks at her words.
“Did you know Stark was going to lock me up here? Before I told you.” She asks, clarifying in the end.
Taking a small step forward you answer,“ of course not. Had I known it never would’ve happened. I want what’s best for you but I know you’re not a threat and you’re not a prisoner.” You take another step and Clint raises his bow, an arrow aimed at you.
“Clint I swear if you shoot that thing at me I’m gonna snap it in half with your head.”
Of course you won’t actually hurt him but his threatening action pisses you off. He’s not listening. Neither of them are.
“Don’t you two care about this team at all? Or are you too hooked on listening to Steve’s ideals?” You snap, now standing about a foot away from them.
An arrow is still pointed at you but you know he won’t use it, not yet at least. You’re hoping not at all.
“I just watched Barnes kick the crap out of Tony and Nat, only for Steve to aid in his escape. Steve is loyal to a fault, one that makes him and Barnes look guiltier. He’s dragging you into a fight that doesn’t have to happen.”
Wanda’s green eyes search yours,“ you don’t get it do you?”
“No you don’t get it Wanda!” You’re emotions spike, the stress of everything bringing you to this angry state.“ The second you leave this compound, the second you meet Steve where ever the fuck he asked you to, you become the threat they think you are!”
That familiar fear flickers through her eyes but vanishes just as quickly.
“You’ve done so much good and you’re about to jeopardize that for Steve’s agenda and I don’t fucking understand! Why does that matter more than your freedom?”
It’s with this words that you see you’ve lost her, determination now set in her eyes.
“You forfeited my freedom when you signed the Accords.”
When her eyes glance over at Clint you move out the way of the arrow he fires at you. The end is blunted so you know it was most likely electrified or a net.
You barely make another move when Wanda’s magic wraps around your ankles and wrists, bringing them together and forcing you to the floor.
“Wanda please don’t do this.” Sad, angry tears start to roll down your cheeks but she leaves you with an almost expressionless face.
You call her name until her red magic is no longer trapping you. She’s long gone and you know it.
“Fuck!” Your fist nearly smashes into the wall but it’s stopped by the red synthetic hand of Vision.
The androids eyes look into yours,“ we can still save her.” He tells you.
A huge part of you wants to believe him but you know it’s not going to be nearly as easy as he says.
“Come on, we need to meet Tony and the others.”

May 10, 2021: Blade Runner 2049 (2017) (Recap: Part Two)
Said I’d talk about artificial humans in sci-fi, so...
Tumblr media
There are a HELL of a lot of examples of artificial humans in science-fiction, as well as the ethical and philosophical concepts that their existence raises. Now, your definition of “artificial” may differ from medium to medium. At its base form, these are humans that are not born, but made. I’ll be talking fleshy organic humans, not robotic ones. The most common of these is, of course, clones.
A clone, strictly speaking, is a genetically identical copy of a pre-existing organism, in this case a human. While this isn’t technology we’ve applied to humans as of yet (due to the NUMEROUS ethical problems and questions), we have done so with animals, mostly sheep and cats. It’s actually a good way to de-extinct certain species, and we’ve already done experiments with that. Of course...that has its own concerns.
Tumblr media
Keeping up the Jurassic Park reference streak! Anyway...
Tumblr media
There are a FUCKTON of examples of clones in science-fiction, but since I’m a massive comic book nerd, I’ll use Superboy. The genetic combination of Superman and Lex Luthor, Conner Kent is one of the most prominent clone superheroes. He’s not the only clone of Superman, of course. He’s not even my favorite clone of Superman, to be honest...
Tumblr media
Bizarro am the worst. ME WILL LIVE ON THAT HILL.
Oh, and let’s not forget THE most prominent artificial human in comic books PERIOD. I don’t care what her origin in the movies is, that’s never been my favorite version of Wonder Woman. Making her a demigod robs her of something important, in my opinion.
Tumblr media
...Should I make a comic book blog? Shit, thinkin’ about it.
OK, before I do that, these are just my favorite examples. Fact is, there are FAR too many examples of artificial humans to go into, whether they’re built, grown, sculpted, conjured, or a chemical reaction with an extra ingredient in the concoction.
Tumblr media
And look, I could go on all day about this, but we got a long-ass movie to get back to. SO, lets jump back in. Part One is here!
Recap (2/2)
Tumblr media
Understandably exhausted, K returns home, confused and conflicted. However, he’s greeted with a surprise from Joi: a prostitute! Namely, this is Mariette (Mackenzie Davis), one of the girls who approached him earlier. Joi’s called her here in order to be “real” for K, the effect is impressive, if somewhat...off-putting. Still, while K obviously didn’t need this to be happy with their relationship, Joi might, and Mariette’s all on board.
Tumblr media
And it doesn’t take K terrible long to get on board, either. As both Mariette and Joi strip, it makes me wonder...how much does this subscription service for Joi cost. There’s no goddamn way this is free, right? Like, how exclusive IS this AI? And they cut from that scene to a Joi commercial, where we hear that Joi becomes anything you want her to be, and does anything you want her to do. But something tells me that...well, that it’s not quite so simple.
Once the night is over, Joi tells Mariette to leave, and not nicely either. Mariette leaves, rebuking her on the way out as well. K, meanwhile, knows that the Blade Runners will soon be coming after him. He’ll be going on the run, and Joi wants to go with him. And so, they put her inside of a remote device, while deleting her information from the main apartment console. This gets the attention of Luv, who head over to the apartment to figure out what’s going on.
Tumblr media
K goes to Doc Badger (Barkhad Adbi), who analyzes the horse for him. It’s discovered that old radiation can be found there, and that amount and kind of radiation can only be found in areas where a dirty bomb has been set off. This would be in the desolate and weird-ass ruins of Las Vegas. While nobody lives there at this point, K and Joi go to check it out.
An IMMENSELY frustrated Luv, unaware of K’s discovery about himself, goes to confront Joshi about K’s whereabouts. Luv berates her for being afraid of change, and tells her that she “can’t fend off the tide with a broom”. Which is a great line. However, as Joshi is no use to her at this point, Luv just straight up kills her. Which, I’m sure, will go over well with the whole “Replicants aren’t dangerous” thing.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in Vegas...shit is WEIRD. First off all, the desolate wasteland is full of statues of giant sexy wimmin, and I mean GIANT statues. Beneath one of them is a series of beehives, which K goes into to get a hand of beeeees. After that, he goes into an abandoned hotel/casino, rigged with tripwires and booby traps. OK. What.
So, somebody’s using this place as a hideaway, despite the entire city being destroyed by a dirty bomb, and probably extremely radioactive. K searches around and finds it empty. He begins to play a piano, hoping to draw someone out. He ends up drawing out a dog, as well as the inhabitant of the hotel.
Tumblr media
Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), baby! Quoting Stevenson’s Treasure Island and holding K up at gunpoint with dog at side is the original Blade Runner himself, Rick Fucking Deckard. God, I love this. Deckard hunts K down throughout the casino, where we see some trippy holograms, and the future of Vegas stageshows (probably).
The two fight, but eventually call a truce and decide to get a drink at the bar. K gets to it pretty quickly, and confronts Deckard on his potential child with Rachael. He confirms that Rachael was indeed pregnant by him, but he had never met his child. Which was the plan, to be fair. He wanted their child to be protected, not hunted down and eventually dissected.
Sometimes, to love someone...you gotta be a stranger.
Tumblr media
To an old Frank Sinatra song, a forlorn K (now calling himself “Joe”) looks around, and sees carved wooden animals that resemble the horse that’s haunted his life and memories so much by this point. Which makes sense, considering the foil unicorn from the previous film. Neat little tie-in there.
But paradise is not all it’s cracked up to be, as someone soon comes to find both K and Deckard, despite the fact that K came alone. Although, now that I think about it, Joi may not be one that you can truly trust. Deckard and K try to escape their pursuers, but are caught pretty quickly. In the process, K is injured, but manages to get up in order to fight back. However, this is Luv with these people, and she beats K down EASILY. Turns out that Luv is actually an enforcer, rather than just a secretary. And when Joi awakens from K’s device to ask her to stop, well...she kills the device, and she kills K. In the process, she also takes Deckard away, leaving K behind. Fuck.
Tumblr media
K wakes up, only to discover Mariette standing over him in the Las Vegas wasteland. She takes care of him as he wakes up, also stitching up with wounds from the explosion. She tells K to trust her, as well as her compatriots. One of them is the hooded woman from earlier, a Replicant named Freysa (Hiam Abbass). An old friend of Sapper’s she saw the delivery of the child, the “miracle”, and also hid the child away, as it was a symbol that the Replicants are more than just slave, that they are their own masters.
Freysa is building a revolution in order to free the Replicants once and for all. And I’m hard-pressed to disagree with their cause, not gonna lie. However, this comes at a price. In order to prevent Wallace from killing the cause, K must prevent Deckard from leading them to Freysa. They must do what they can until they can reveal the child to the world. For she will be their leader.
Fuck.
Tumblr media
Understandably COMPLETELY crushed at this revelation, and more confused than ever, K collapses. Freysa tells him that they ALL wish they were the one, and they all believe. It’s at this point, that K realizes exactly who the Hybrid is: Dr. Ana Stelline. The horse from earlier, it turns out, did in fact belong to her, and she planted her childhood memory with the horse in K’s mind as a Replicant. Damn. DAMN! That’s why the memory moved her so: because it was hers.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Deckard awakens to a separate nightmare: Jared Leto telling him how he feels about him. After all, Deckard helped to create the first Replicant-human hybrid. He asks him for his help in obtaining the child, so that the key of Replicant reproduction can be further unlocked. And he proceeds in convincing Deckard by playing audio of Rachael and his first meeting (from the first film, of course).
Niander fucks with him further, by suggesting Deckard was summoned all those years ago specifically to fall in love with Rachael in order to father a child with her. But despite all of this, Deckard refuses to give up any of his information. And so, Niander pulls out his ace-in-the-hole...and it’s a real shitty thing to do to a man in mourning.
Tumblr media
Damn. Dude rebuilt Rachael, tries to tempt Deckard with her, FAILS, then lets Luv shoot her in the head. Fucking power move, and fuck Niander for playing it. Dude is a DICK. Meanwhile. that one visual from every single ad of this movie is happening, and I can FINALLY use one of the 8000 GIFs of it, goddamn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not gonna lie, it’s an iconic appearance, so I get why it’s so famous. Anyway, K considers a suicidal option, now that he knows the truth. However, before we get to see the final decision, we get to see Deckard being taken back to LA for interrogation by Wallace. However, to prevent him from potentially leading Wallace to the secret of Ana Stelline, K suddenly appears, opening fire on their ship.
The craft is downed, and K exits the car to engage in a firefight with Luv. He appears to win, but Luv isn’t killed once she’s shot. The two have a fistfight out in the rain, and Deckard waits for water to slowly kill the craft that he’s still inside of.
Tumblr media
As expected, Luv handles herself well, and despite a number of close calls, she JUST. WILL. NOT. DIE. Damn, she’s resilient. However, despite K, Luv, and Deckard all nearly drowning in an INTENSE fight between the Replicants, an enraged and crazed Luv finally eventually drowns, ending her threat for good.
K saves Deckard from the sinking ship, and agrees to stage his death, allowing him to meet his daughter for the first time. Once at her facility, K returns Deckard’s horse to him, knowing that it was a gift from him. He tells Deckard that his best memories all come from her, implying that this makes him similar to Deckard’s son, which he picks up on when he asks if he’s OK.
Tumblr media
Deckard goes to meet his daughter, and K hangs out on the stairs outside. He feels the snow fall on his hand, and he just...watches it all fall around him. He sits, and he watches it all. And meanwhile, Deckard meets his daughter for the first time.
Tumblr media
...Can I just say...GODDAMN!
That movie was absolutely stellar, and it’s definitely landing in the high ‘90s for me, calling it now. I...wow. Seriously. Amazing.
See you in the Review!

Meet Me, Love Me chapter 2: daddys_pr1ncess
Chapter 1: The Lieutenant
Pairing: Walter Marshall x OFC (Erin)
Series Summary: After meeting a woman on the dating site Meet Me, Love Me, Walter finds himself falling into a messy web of lies, deceit, and heartbreak.
Chapter Summary: Erin does her best to stay professional around Lieutenant Marshall, which doesn’t last for very long.
Warning(s): masturbating, spanking, slight angst
Word Count: 2,488
Tumblr media
“Valdez, you’re with Lieutenant Marshall today,” Officer Romero says before continuing down her list of every intern’s daily task.
Erin’s eyes pop. Today is her first day of field training. She’ll get to be front and center to all the action, which is the entire reason she signed up to be an intern in the first place. She’s been looking forward to this day for weeks. But why are they sending her out with a lieutenant instead of a cop with a lower position and less important things to do? And why, of all people, did it have to Walter she’s paired up with?
“You’re the guy I’ve been sexting for the last month,” she’d said that day in the restaurant as she realized that Lieutenant Walter Marshall was the.lieutenant, AKA the man she’d been calling daddy for the last three weeks. She’d never wished to be swallowed up by the earth more than she had in that moment. “Wait--you’re the guy who’s been sexting me!”
Holy shit.
She spent her mornings taking this guy’s coffee order and her nights making videos for him to jerk off to. How the hell was she supposed to show her face at work now that she knew what his dick looked like, had practically memorized every detail of it after all the pictures he’d sent her of his hard-on?
“What the hell do we do now?” she had asked, not necessarily to him, but to anyone who was listening and had the slightest bit of an answer.
“The only thing we can do.” There’s a reluctance in Lieutenant Marshall’s--Walter’s voice that she’d never heard before.
For some stupid reason, she let herself hope. Hope that he would say something along the lines of I know this is probably breaking twenty HR rules but let’s keep talking anyways, now do you wanna go to my place and fuck? Call her a hopeless romantic, or a stupid idiot. She’s not sure there’s much difference. But her chest had tightened and her heart had fluttered in those few seconds between his sentences.
And then he said: “We can’t do this anymore. We have to stop talking right now. Neither one of us knew who the other was when we started this… this… whatever this was. But it’s over. It has to be.”
Of course, she understood why he did it. Not only was it wrong to keep doing it while they worked together, but he was about ten positions above her, and that made it even worse. He had to save his job and his reputation.
She understood the logic behind it. But that didn’t make it hurt any less.
Now, a week later, she’s being assigned to him for the day. The wound is still fresh. She still finds herself reaching for her phone to text him, only to stop herself when she opens the app and sees his username. She still reads their texts as she's lying in bed at night, feeling like a clingy idiot. They no longer riled her up now, they only make her start to cry. It’s stupid, she knows that. It wasn’t a real relationship. But she misses having him there, misses talking to someone at all hours of the day. So how the hell is she supposed to act professional around him today?
Once Officer Romero has given her instructions, Erin walks up to her and says, “Sorry, but I thought--”
The older lady holds up a hand, silencing Erin. “First, don’t ever start a sentence with ‘sorry, but..’. If you’re going to say something, you gotta mean it. I expect that kind of confidence in you before you pass your training.”
Erin nods. “Yeah, okay. Sorry. I mean… uh, I was just…”
Someone calls Officer Romero’s name and she excuses herself. Just as she starts to walk down the hall she passes Walter on his way in. She tells him that Erin is going to be under him today and--god, what is wrong with her for finding something dirty in that?--Walter stops in his tracks. He looks around the room until he spots Erin. She tries to give an apologetic smile but it feels more like a grimace.
This is going to be a long day.
An hour later, Walter has settled in, scanned through paperwork, had his three cups of black coffee, and Erin decides it’s time to head down to his unmarked Ford Explorer and wait for him. She’s in an actual police uniform today--normally she’s in sweats and a police t-shirt--and though it’s something that would make her giddy with excitement, the thought of spending her first day out in the field with Walter is killing her buzz.
Walter doesn’t say anything as he makes his way to his car and hits the unlock button on his keys. Erin slides into the passenger seat. Walter turns on the car and adjusts the AC and the police radio without even acknowledging her presence.
“So, I want you to know that I didn’t do anything,” Erin explains. “I didn’t say anything to anyone, Officer Romero just randomly assigned me to you--”
He silences her with a look.
She hesitates before adding, “I just… don’t want you to think that I’m not respecting your wishes. I’m not trying to make your job harder for you.”
His expression slightly softens. Slightly.
Erin doesn’t let her mouth get away from her this time. The car is tense and silent as Walter switches into drive and heads off down the highway. Erin doesn’t know where they’re going but he looks like a man on a mission so she doesn’t question it.
They spend the first two hours in silence. No calls come in. They just sit on a part of the highway directly between the two biggest cities in the area and wait for a call on the radio that never comes. Neither one of them speaks. Walter finally speeds off down the highway around eleven. Erin thinks he’s been notified of a crime that she isn’t aware of, and is slightly disappointed when they pull into a McDonald’s drive-thru.
“What are we doing here?” she asks.
He ignores her as he pulls up to the window and orders half the menu. He doesn’t even ask if she wants anything before finishing the order.
“Walter?” she asks, then quickly corrects herself. “Er, Lieutenant Marshall?”
He still ignores her. Once he’s paid and gotten the three bags of food, he drives back to their waiting point along the highway. Erin can only stay quiet for a few more minutes.
“I’m putting in a complaint when we get back to the station,” she tells him.
He finally looks at her, giving her a look that says, why the hell are you going to do that?
She just stares at him with a look of her own. If you want me to explain myself, you’ll have to talk.
“Why are you putting in a complaint?” he sighs.
“You’re being completely unprofessional.” Normally she’d be too shy to speak to an officer like this, but she’s had enough of the stupid chip on his shoulder. Plus, he’s seen her naked, so there’s nothing left to be shy about with him.
“I’m not doing anything,” Walter protests.
“Exactly!” Erin agrees. “The point of taking me with you is to teach me stuff. We’ve already wasted half our shift and you’ve taught me nothing, except that you eat enough for a family of four!”
“I only eat once a day,” Walter argues, like that changes anything.
Erin rolls her eyes. “That’s not the point.”
“And what is your point? Do you actually have one or do you just feel like yelling?”
“My point is that you’re discriminating against me,” she says. “You’re letting the whole ‘Meet Me, Love Me’ thing get in your head and you’re using it as a wall between us. You can ignore me for the rest of your life. Fine. But not today. You don’t get to not teach me just because you regret our relationship. So act professional and teach me, Walter!”
He doesn’t say anything. Erin opens her mouth to yell at him some more, when she recognizes the strange new look on his face. His eyes are glazed over and his mouth slightly parted as he stares at Erin’s mouth like he’s under a spell. Erin’s face burns as she realizes what he’s no doubt thinking about: she likes to be a brat sometimes just to get a reaction out of him. He punishes her accordingly every time, but it’s the hottest thing to both of them. Walter loves laying down the law--his law--and Erin loves being punished. Intense heat wets her panties and she squeezes her legs together. He notices. His gaze jumps to her legs immediately and he fucking licks his lips. Is he trying to kill her?
“Walter--” she says, her voice shaking, but Walter’s phone goes off before she can say anything else.
He answers the call and, just like that, the moment is over.
“I’m needed back at the station,” he explains as he hangs up the phone. That’s all he says for the rest of the drive.
That night, after enjoying a couple glasses of wine, Erin locks herself in her room, away from her roommates, and decides to watch Pornhub on her laptop. She hasn’t needed to do this in a while; usually sexting with Walter is enough to make her satisfied. So having to look up adult videos is just another bitter reminder that whatever they had--a fling? A relationship?--is done. She may or may not have pulled up her Meet Me, Love Me messages with Walter beforehand, reading through their own conversations as a strange form of roleplay.
What she does do, however, is hit the record button on her phone without realizing. Once she shuts her phone off for the night, it automatically stops recording. And somehow, either through her tipsiness or her fatigue, she hits send. The video of her masturbating--and moaning Walter’s name as she cums--goes straight to the lieutenant himself.
The next morning, Walter drags her into a windowless janitor’s closet, his nails digging into her arm. He’s never been rough with her before--occasionally he’ll use harsh words when she’s been acting like a brat, but they’ve never been in physical contact for this to happen, and she has a strange and possibly psychotic gratefulness that his touch will leave bruises on her arm, a reminder that he’s not just some figment of her imagination.
“What kind of game are you playing?” he growls in a whisper-shout, cautious of the people on the other side of the door.
She has no idea what he’s talking about. She says as much.
“Don’t play dumb with me, you dirty little brat,” he spits.
Erin’s going straight to hell for the way those words--and his angry growl--sends heat straight to her core.
Walter continues, “That cute little speech you gave yesterday about wanting to stay professional… you don’t get to say shit like that and then send me videos like the one from last night.”
“What video are you…?” And then it hits her. She has no memory of sending him anything, no memory of even making a video. “Walter, I didn’t mean--”
He takes a step towards her, his shoes now flush with hers. Their chests brush against each other with every inhale. Erin has to crane her neck all the way back to look him in the eye. Dominance radiates off of him, as strong as his cologne, and fuck does it make her wet. She tries to keep her breathing steady, to not make it obvious that her heart is racing, but it gets harder the longer he looks at her with that anger in his eyes. It’s as terrifying as it is arousing.
Walter puts his hands on either side of her head, trapping her. His face is so close to hers that she can feel his breath against her cheeks. “You moaned my goddamn name when you came. You said my name--and you’re really trying to stand here and convince me that you hadn’t meant that video for me?”
“Walter--” Erin begins, her voice shaking, but she can’t get anything more than his name out before his hands are on her hips and he’s spinning her to face the wall. He presses his body against hers. His warmth envelopes her but it makes her shiver. She wants him. God, does she want him. She’d willingly let him fuck her right here and now, damn whoever might walk in on them.
“My name,” he growls in her ear, “is Lieutenant, got it?”
“Yes,” she whimpers. It’s taking every ounce of self-control to not beg him to fuck her. She can feel his erection against her ass; this is just as exciting to him. She wants that cock inside of her, moving between her walls and teasing her pussy, splitting her open as he enters her, fucking her so hard that she can’t walk after.
“Yes, what?” he spits.
“Yes, Lieutenant.” Her arousal is already soaking her panties. She wonders if he can smell it, the way she can smell his arousal.
“Good girl.” He’s really trying to kill her, isn’t he? He knows exactly what that praise does to her, how it makes her weak in the knees. “Now be good and don’t scream.”
Erin pauses, but before she can ask what he’s doing he yanks her pants down. She gasps, her cheeks burning with embarrassment as the cool air hits her asscheeks. And then she gasps again--for an entirely different reason--when Walter begins to knead her cheeks in his hands.
Her Latina heritage blessed her with curves, which includes a big butt. She used to be embarrassed of it her entire life. And then she started dating guys and realized they like touching her big butt as much as she likes it being touched. But Walter’s hands are big enough to make her feel small, even as he touches the biggest part on her body, and that does something to her that she’s never experienced. Something she can’t explain but she knows she likes.
And then he spanks her. His hands come down roughly on both of her cheeks and she gasps, more at the sound than the pain. But when the sting finally registers, it’s not completely unbearable. In fact, there’s something about the way her skin burns that makes it… addicting. She wants him to spank her again.
And he does.
Three more times, on each cheek. He doesn’t bother to be gentle with her. The masochist in her loves it.
And later, as she feels the ghost of his hands with every passing second, she smiles to herself. That video had been sent on accident, but she’d do it over again in a heartbeat.

SPN 15X16 Observations
Alrighty folks! This week, both my TV AND internet were working! (Helped that this past week a repairperson came out and checked things out and turned out our cable box needed to be replaced because the one they’d given us was defective or something.) So, good part of that was that I was able to watch it on my actual TV! Bad news is, that meant I was left trying to take notes on my phone, which isn’t as easy for me as it is on my computer which my keyboard. But ah well. Here are my episode notes and post-watching break-down of what I thought about it.
- getting "IT" vibes
- "IT" vibes still there
- Nyooooooom
- DEAN! YOU DIDN'T TELL HIM YOU BASTARD!!!
(FLASHBACK) - Dang Dean.... "this is our life" Even then he was trying to make Sam accept it. - Poor Sammy - That's a big gun for a little kid...
- Poor (other) kid!
(Commercial thoughts) So this is the second time this season that Cas had a conversation with Dean and then left and Dean lied to Sam about it. So Sam's in the dark still.
First time I think Dean just didn't want to admit his part in Cas leaving. This time, I have a feeling he doesn't want Sam to know what Cas (probably) said about Jack. Maybe thinks Sam will try to stop the plan. And Dean wants it to happen? Because at least this time it's not them making the sacrifice? *salty*
- Dean's pretty quick to call it. (That it's not their kind of thing.)
- Ring??
- He brought the ring back
- That woke her up
- NOW he (Dean) believes her...
(Commercial) Dean is closing down connections between him and the people he usually connects with. Like, it's harder to hold onto those. Like, he's willing to let Jack go (I think) And he was ready to write off Caitlin's brother.
Also tied up with his slef image. He thought he'd taken care of it back then. She prayed on his sense of duty and shame of failure.
Interesting that the knife wasn't really there.
Could it have killed him anyway?
- "We used to keep a lot of secrets from each other."
- I still hate how Dean gets lumped up as "Sam and Dean" as if his POV is the only one important. (Reference to what Billy told Jack to get him to agree. It was pitched as if his sacrifice to take out Chuck is the only way to earn both their forgiveness. But that's only true for Dean. Not Sam.)
- Dean knows Sam isn't going to like it. That's why he hasn't told him yet.
- BABA YAGA!!! (Wonder if there'll be any references to her hut on chicken legs.)
- *LOL* Poor bong girl.
- So, hallucinating or teleportation? (Apparently hallucination)
- Sammy to the rescue?
- Well, he got to help....
(Commercial) (Still disappointed that there was no mention of her hut on chicken legs or the fact that she rode around on a mortar and pestle. She felt more like an SPN interpretation of IT.)
- "You tell the truth more because you know that lies don't make anything better." (Is that an anvil I hear falling in the distance?)
- Okay. That (Dean fessing-up to Sam) predictably went horribly, but I'm glad it did. I'm glad Sam had a freaking voice. And an opinion. And wouldn't let Dean talk him around. Because he's right. It was shitty to hide it from him. And the plan is shitty. He knows what it's like to be the guy who has to die to save the world. And he's right to have ethical questions.
- "You wouldn't have handled it." (Or however it was phrased is Dean's internal justification for why he's right and Sam isn't. And why it was okay to hide it from him.)
(Post-episode thoughts)
(And again, apologies if these aren't exactly coherent.)
I liked the Weechester parts. Gotta admit, it took me a bit to warm up to the new actors, but I think that's mostly because we had Colin Ford for a good long run, and Dylan Everett for a decent amount of time too. I kind of got used to them. But these two did a good job.
I felt the writing for their parts might have had a few continuity issues. This was supposed to be in 1993 right? (Have only watched through it once so far.) So Sam would have been 10-ish (depending on the time of year) and Dean would have been 14. (Probably safe to assume this wasn't intended to be early January.) And it took place sometime after the flashbacks from "Just My Imagination" but before "After School Special" or "Bad Boys" So I found it a bit odd that Sam already is being shown as not wanting to hunt. (When in "Just My Imagination" he wanted to join his Dad and Dean on the hunt. And in After School Special he was definitely not about hunting but he hadn't seemed to considered that he even had the option to try for anything else. So I found it odd that they had a 10-year-old already looking at books about going to college. I feel like maybe if this had taken place a few years later maybe that would have made more sense? Ah well, I still enjoyed it overall.
Now, about the MOTW, I was all giddy when they revealed it was the Baba Yaga. (When I was in band in college, we played a musical piece from "Pictures at an Exhibition" titled "The Hut of the Baba Yaga". And I hadn't heard of it before that so I did some research on it and found out it was basically the Russian folklore version of the Boogy Man. She lived in a hut that walked around on fowls' leggs, and she rode around on a mortar and pestle, and she was greatly feared. So, they got the "greatly feared" part right. But.... (just did some double-checking on the episode) OKAY! So, I take it back. They didn't make a HUGE deal of it, but the motel where it all happened was called the "Rooster's Sunrise". So yey! They did have a nod to the Hut on Fowl's Legs thing! And it's not anything close to a hut, but it does have wooden siding on the upper part of it. (Like, not painted wood, but wooden-wood. *LOL*) Still though, overall I was getting more of an "IT" vibe from it. (At least the old IT, with Tim Curry. I haven't seen the new one.)
I did think they did an overall good job with the creepiness factor. But in the end, it didn't feel like she had much of a personality. She was just kind of there to move the plot where it needed to go.
To me, I felt like most of the emotional weight of the episode was on the secret Dean was keeping from Sam. And you could tell that it was eating at him. But at the same time, he didn't want to go there. Because he knew Sam would react badly.
Before I get to that though, I want to touch on something I mentioned up in my notes, after the conversation Billy and Dean had. She said that she'd gotten Jack to agree to the plan by saying that the only way to earn their forgiveness was by dying to end Chuck's threat. (I know, in this episode she specifically said Dean. But in the last episode, when Jack was telling Cas about it, he'd said Sam and Dean. So either he's merged them together in his head, or Billy did when pitching it, or she just left an open implication and he took it.) Either way, there's still that idea floating around out there that Sam and Dean are a matched-set, and that what one wants, the other wants too. Despite the fact that that's not how it plays out. And despite the fact that Sam has pretty openly shown Jack that he's forgiven him, and cares about him, and that Jack doesn't need to "earn" his affection. So why is Dean the only one who matters here?
Maybe it's the writers lumping them both together when convenient? But the fight between Sam and Dean at the end of this episode shows that they're not on the same page as far as Jack is concerned, so the writers DO know. Does Billy see them as a single unit? Or is it the opposite? Has she been coming to Dean with her plans and talks because it's easier for her to manipulate him? Because Sam's the one who stops to ask things like "Does Amara deserve to die? Does Jack deserve to die? Is there another way to do this? (Should I maybe NOT lock myself into a coffin and then yeet myself into the ocean?)" She was pretty firm to Dean about "getting his house in order" because she wants the plan to go smoothly. Is that because she knows Sam could/would find a way to stop it if he's not on-board? I mean, old Death was very aware of how persistent Sam could be if he put his mind to something.
Anyway, forgive my ramblings. Most of my questions don't have answers yet, but sometimes it helps to get them actually written out.
As for the fight between the brothers at the end, I'm actually glad it happened. I get where Dean is coming from. He's focused on the goal (getting out from under Chuck's control) and especially since he and Sam aren't the sacrificial lambs this time around, he's willing to let Jack do what he needs to do in order to get the job done. Especially since Jack seems to be willing.
(Though I do have issues with the fact that Jack is willing because he thinks it's the ONLY way he can earn forgiveness. But, that is yet another parallel to Sam from S5, who not only knew and accepted that he was the only one who could stop Lucifer, but that it was all apparently his fault and he needed to atone. When in fact, he was just one of MANY who'd had a hand in the Apocalypse happening. And I'd say most of the blame for it fell on the angels and demons. Both Winchesters broke seals without knowing it. Sam thought he was outright preventing a seal from being broken. But regardless... I wonder if Sam sees this too, at least from the perspective of "I know what this feels like, and it sucks, and Jack doesn't deserve this, and there HAS to be some other way!" I guess my point is, emotional manipulation can be considered a form of coersion. Letting Jack believe that this is the only way to be forgiven, holding that forgiveness over his head... how much "free will" is actually going on here if that's why he's willing to go through with it?)
Sorry, tangents. I tend to live in them. *LOL* So yeah, while I don't agree with Dean's mindset, I do get why he feels the way he does. And I'm just glad that Sam wasn't written as "a little upset but willing to let it go." Down to his bones he knows this is wrong. And he let Dean know. And I'm also glad that he's asking the questions he's been asking. It's not a weakness as Dean kind of implied. (With the whole "you can't get the job done.") Sam isn't being wishy-washy. He just cares about what's right. Chuck or no Chuck, it still matters to him. And getting what you want "by any means"... well, he's been down that road himself. He knows how that can end. And plus, he cares about Jack. Like, genuinely cares about him, as a person. Not just what he can do for them. Not because he's powerful. But for who he is.
Also, I don't know if it was intentional, or just the way it came off to me, but I feel like... well, for a lot of this season to be honest, Dean's view of what and who is "vitally important" has severely shrunk down. To like, himself and Sam. I'm not saying he'll tell everyone to go hang. But I feel like maybe as a reaction to finding out how much of their lives were "set-up" he kind of withdrew emotionally. He's more willing to let go of other people they care about. The connections he forms don't feel as strong as they used to even a season or two ago. Like, in "The Gamblers", he felt a little sorry for the other people trapped there, but he was willing to get what they needed and get out of there. Sam was the one who insisted on trying to free them too.
And speaking of Sam, at the end of last season I felt like one of the reasons why he went along with Dean's plan (to lock Jack up) despite how he CLEARLY didn't like it, and everything about it felt wrong, was that at that point in time he severely doubted his own judgement. Because by that point, so many of his decisions which had been made with good intentions and with the best information he'd had at the time wound up blowing-up in his face. (i.e. Training the AU refugees into Hunters to help them with Dean/Michael and then after with just Hunting in general only to have most of them slaughtered by Michael. And him trying to give Nick a chance because he knew what it was like to be branded as evil for things that had been done to you. And he knew what it was like to be a vessel for Lucifer. And then when Nick went off the rails and they caught him that first time, they handed him over to Donna, because he was a human so they thought they'd let human justice deal with him. And then he escaped and hurt Donatello and was trying to free Lucifer, and Sam almost beat him to death but then stopped, because he didn't want to kill him in what he felt was cold blood. (Though I'd argue self-defense would've been valid.) After which Nick hit him repeatedly in the head with a rock and almost DID free Lucifer, which Jack stopped, but that lead to Mary's death and, and, and, the list goes on. So by the time they figured out (somewhat, I don't think they ever got the full story) what happened to Mary, I think Sam was feeling like he couldn't trust his own judgement, and so he let Dean lead. And that... didn't go well.
So I'm glad that he is starting to question again. He'd started to with Mrs. Butters but then everything seemed fine, but as they found out, he should have heeded his instincts and researched her more. And now this. At the end of last season when the idea of Jack dying/being killed came up he said he wasn't okay with it, and he did run to try to stop Dean, but I feel like there's more assertiveness behind it now. He's not saying "Please don't do this!" he's saying "This is NOT okay! I'm NOT going to accept this! No!"
So, in conclusion: Overall I liked the episode, though for me anyway, most of the emotional weight came from the secret Dean was keeping and then what happened when he finally told Sam. I did however like some of the little moments, like young!Dean's line about "We made a pretty good team." and it's callback to the Pilot episode.
I'm sorry this got a bit rambly. Again.

He Didn’t Miss
Rating: Explicit Word count: 6452  Ship: Convin (Connor/Gavin Reed)
Summary: Connor and Gavin are forced to work together on a serial killer case. Someone is killing androids with bat and doesn't seem to leave a trace. Can the two figure out who the murder is and somehow get along?
-----------------------------------
"You gotta be fucking with me," Gavin growled, crossing his arms. Connor stays standing behind the chair, looking between the Captain and Reed.
"I am not. While Hank is away you two will work together. Connor is still not allowed to work alone and you're my next best detective." Fowler sighs, rubbing at his face.
Connor had guessed this was going to happen so he was already prepared for the news. Gavin turns and glares at Connor like this was his idea, which it wasn't.
"Fuck, how long will Anderson be gone?" Gavin sighs.
Connor cuts in before Fowler can answer. "He will be gone for two more weeks and three days."
While Hank was gone he left the house and Sumo for Connor to take care of. Connor was happy to do so, and since he already practically lived there it wasn't much change.
"Fuck. Fine, but don't expect us to get along." Gavin says. He doesn't wait for Fowler's dismissal before stomping out of the office.
"Is there anything else, sir?" Connor asks.
Fowler just shakes his head. "No. Well… Reed isn't so bad. Just try not to kill each other and you'll be fine. Now get out."
Connor nodded and walked out, closing the door softly behind him. He went back to his desk, pulling up the case he and Reed would be working on.
There had been four murders already and one that had just been found. They'd have to go to the crime scene soon, but Connor thought it best to let Reed cool down a bit.
It took the detective exactly 28 minutes and 32 seconds before Gavin walked over to Connor's desk. "Let's get a fucking move on."
Connor quickly stands, making sure his tie is tight before following Reed. He's half-expecting for them to get a cab or just use one of the cars the dpd has. Instead, Reed leads them to the parking lot and a red 1971 Ford Mustang Convertible.
"This is an old car, 68 years old to be exact," Connor says, looking it over. It's clear that Gavin takes good care of it; the car is completely clean and polished.
Reed glances at him, eyes widening before he scowls. "Yeah, what about it?"
"I'm simply appreciating it." He tries to smile warmly but it probably comes off a bit awkward.
Gavin furrows his brows before shaking his head and getting in. Connor follows suit, sliding into the passenger seat. The seatbelts are already buckled behind them so Connor just sits there while Gavin starts the car.
"Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you"
Gavin's eyes went wide and he quickly turned the music off. "Shit! Uh, I…it was, I wasn't actually-" Gavin trailed off. "Don't you dare tell anyone about this, you hear me?"
Connor quickly put his hands up. "I won't, though I don't see why you would be embarrassed about your song choice."
He had experimented with every genre of music available, and listened to all the songs Hank deemed as 'classics'.
"I'm not fucking embarrassed. Just-just shut the fuck up, ok?" Gavin said before pulling out of the parking lot.
Connor stays quiet as requested for the rest of the drive, mentally going over what they already knew. There was very little available while also having too much.
They get to the crime scene and Connor quickly leaves the car. The silence had been too heavy and too awkward for his liking.
The house looked like a cut out from Architects Today magazine. It was beautiful, but not in the olde-worlde quaint kind of way. Everything was geometric, which he guessed you could say about almost house with square windows, but on this house, he couldn't help but notice it.
The roof was flat for a start and the door was wide as it was tall. The windows took up entire walls with only polished steel beams to break them into yet more rectangles.
The look would have been entirely metallic like a mini downtown skyscraper had it not been for the cedar beams of the external porch and the matching raised plant beds that contained only white blooms.
It was definitely crafted after the revolution and for androids. Markus had set up lots of funding for housing from money Carl had gifted him along with selling his own paintings. He would do his best to help any androids who wanted to buy their own homes instead of staying at Jericho. He also knew Carl Manfred donated most of his art to the cause as well.
The door was already open and officers walked in and out. The floors were polished concrete and the furniture scandinavian in style. The only mess was the wet footprints the police tracked. That is until they reached the living room.
The living room is decorated the same but now it also had blue blood everywhere. The humans couldn't see it, but he could and it sent a shiver down his spine.
The android, an ST200, lies on the ground the body completely mutilated. She's stripped completely bare but that doesn't mean much at this point with how her body is.
She's almost unrecognizable with how badly damaged she is. "Shit." Gavin grumbles and Connor nods numbly.
He walks over, careful not to disturb any evidence before crouching down. He scans over the body making notes in his head of any important details.
Her eyes are still open, staring lifelessly up at the ceiling. Connor reaches out and closes them, not being able to handle them open. He hated remembering Daniel's eyes just staring at him as he kneeled on that roof.
There is no way this Chloe could be repaired. Her memories would be far too damaged to do so. Not to mention the amount of trauma she must have gone through.
Once he finds everything he can he slowly stands and looks around the room. There is a small shrine set up for rA9 near a window and Connor glances at it. He hadn't thought much about rA9 but it had become common to say 'oh rA9' like humans would with God.
There isn't an obvious murder weapon lying around so it's more likely that the killer had brought it with them.
"I believe the killer brought a bat with them, so this could definitely be from the same killer as the other four," Connor said once he had looked through the rooms.
"Nah dip," Reed said, looking down at the body then grimacing. "So we got a serial killer who beats androids with a bat. Wonderful."
"I don't agree, this isn't wonderful in any way." It was horrifying and gruesome. It made his stomach churn and he couldn't even get sick.
Gavin snorts but quickly cuts it off. He looked around them before glaring at Connor. "I was being sarcastic."
Connor slowly nodded, hiding his own grin. He knew Reed was being sarcastic, and his response got the reaction he was hoping for. Reed may not like him now, but he made it his mission to become at least on friendly terms by the time Hank gets back.
He wasn't as clueless as many thought. Sure there were things he didn't instantly understand, but he had the entire internet in his head. Even then there were some things that he still didn't understand, but that was fine. Not knowing the answer to everything was a part of being alive.
"Oh, I will try to remember that. Sorry for the misunderstanding, Detective." Connor nods. "I believe I may be able to get more information from the other bodies."
There had to be some DNA evidence somewhere. The person may not be in the system, but the evidence would be used once they got a suspect.
Gavin looks down at the body again before wincing. "Hopefully they aren't as bad as this one. I'm gonna take a look around the rest of the house."
Connor follows along even after Gavin started bitching about 'stupid androids' and 'acting like a lost puppy'. Connor took it in stride, making small comments when Reed would say something particularly stupid.
"You're the most annoying android I've ever met. Aren't you supposed to just obey and not talk back?" Gavin snaps at him.
"Sarcasm is just one more service I offer. If you'd like to make a complaint I'm sure Cyberlife won't give a single fuck either." He grins. Then he's shoved back against the wall, and Gavin is glaring up at him.
He almost feels satisfaction from getting Reed this worked up, but most of his attention is directed on how close they are.
Gavin holds him against the wall even though Connor could easily get away if he wanted. They both knew who would win in a fight. "Shut the fuck up. I am your superior and you will not talk back to me while at work."
Oh, he made it too easy. "So that means I get to talk back when we aren't working?"
Gavin quickly pushed away, wiping down his clothes like he thought Connor had cooties. "Fuck off!"
"What a way with words, I'm so impressed." Connor deadpans. Messing with Reed was just too easy. "We have searched the whole house, I believe we should head back."
Gavin clenched his fist before slowly relaxing it. "Fine. Let's go, Tincan." He hit his shoulder as he stomped away.
Connor couldn't help but roll his eyes as he followed after. At least he had a good view from back here.
He wouldn't deny Gavin being… aesthetically pleasing. He often hid behind baggy shirts or jackets, but Connor could tell he kept very good care of himself.
He just didn't have the best of personalities. He was impulsive and crude. He made comments on basically everything he didn't agree with or disliked. Though, he seemed to lie a lot when it came to androids.
Connor had yet to figure out why he lied or why he was so angry. There was a suspicious lack of background in his file, so perhaps something happened in the past. How he could completely cover something up was beyond him. He didn't have any hacking skills from what he saw.
He had to find out what Gavin was hiding. Hank hadn't told him anything even with all his pushing. He couldn't ask Chris or Tina, he wasn't close enough to them to even bring it up.
So that left asking Gavin. He'd either have to get him angry and frustrated enough or he could try to get closer. He'd prefer to later, but there was a very low success rate of that.
He still wanted to try, though. He wanted to get to know Gavin. He wanted to become friends and have him to turn to if he needed help. Maybe they could be more, though that was laughable.
If Gavin couldn't get over his prejudice then it would never work. He couldn't be close to someone who hated his people. He could try to change his mind slowly, but until then he couldn't let himself dream.
The ride back was just as uncomfortable and awkwardly silent as the ride to the scene had been. Gavin never looked over at him as he drove, he didn't even turn on any music.
Connor didn't try to make conversation. Small talk would just make things more uncomfortable. Connor pulls his coin out and rolls it across his fingers.
Gavin jerks the car slightly and the coin drops to the ground. Connor glances over as he bends to grab his coin and sees a small smirk on Gavin's face.
Connor goes back to doing his coin trick and having to pick it up whenever Gavin is a bit rougher with his driving.
That lasted the entire way back and Connor had dropped his coin exactly seventeen times. Neither says anything as they get out of the car and go into the station.
Connor goes to the evidence room while Gavin goes back to his desk.
The android parts are no longer just hanging, but they now are treated similarly to humans.
Connor goes over the bodies, taking samples when necessary. He's gotten good at compartmentalizing so he does his work without letting his emotions get in the way.
That didn't mean it was hard to see. Anyone would have problems seeing their own people brutally murdered.
From the looks of it, the androids had been alive when most of the damage was dealt. Their death didn't stop the killer from continuing to beat the bodies until they were unrecognizable.
Whoever did this really hated them, and from what he could tell the only connection was that they were androids.
He was on the last body and had very little hope left. He hadn't found one spec of DNA so this was looking more towards an android committing the crimes. Definitely wasn't the first time an android murdered, but it was odd to see this much rage directed at their own kind.
He was about ready to give up until he saw something. A small spec of dried red blood.
He pressed his finger against it, and then brought it to his lips. He found DNA. He could jump for joy, but he keeps his cool. There was no match in the system, but they needed this.
He could find a lot out just from the blood, so that would narrow down their suspect pool.
He stands there for a few seconds, analyzing the blood. Once that was done he quickly jogged out and to Gavin's desk.
Gavin was sipping on coffee and talking to Officer Chen. He slowed his pace as he got closer. He didn't want to interrupt as that had a high chance of simply pissing Gavin off.
Chen looked up and gave him a slight wave. "Connor, how has worked with grumpy pants been?"
Connor walked up, leaning slightly against Gavin's desk. "Not the worst. I just found a break in the case. How have you been?"
"Not bad on my end. This fucker won't stop whining about how sn-” she's cut off by a hand over her mouth. Gavin glares at her, and then quickly pulls his hand away.
"Ugh, that's disgusting Tina. You're such a bitch." He sighed, wiping his hand onto Tina's arm.
She squeals and jumps away, flipping him off. "But I'm your bitch. Talk to you boys later; don't get into any extra trouble." She laughs as she runs off, waving at Connor.
Gavin sighs and shakes his head fondly. Then he turns his attention back to Connor and his expression quickly changes to one of irritation. "You found something?"
"I did. I found a small drop of red blood on the body that most likely came from the killer." He starts. Gavin nods along, propping his feet up on his desk. "The blood belonged to a white man, 24 years old, with AB+ blood type."
Gavin raised an eyebrow. "Anything else? Maybe you can get this man's name too."
"The most common boy names born in 2014 in the US are Noah, Liam, Mason, Jacob, William, Ethan, Michael, Alexander, James, and Daniel. There is a chance that he would be named one of those."
Gavin stared at him for a few seconds before slowly bring a hand up then slapping his own forehead. "Right. I shouldn't have said anything. Is there anything else you got?"
"There is. The man appears to have had gastrointestinal cancer in the past." There couldn't be that many with all of those requirements.
"Damn, that sucks. Doesn't give him the right to murder though." Gavin says, rubbing his face.
Connor has to go over that again a few times to make sure he heard right. He'd never heard Gavin say an android's death was murder. He rarely even said they were killed. Now he had agreed they were murdered.
He was quickly snapped out of his thoughts when a hand was waved in front of his face. "You still in there?" Gavin asks.
Connor nods and quickly pushed Gavin's hand away. "I'm fine. I'm just simply shocked. You said they were murdered."
Gavin freezes before shrugging nonchalantly. "And? That's what happened, isn't it? Beaten to death equals murder."
"Right, of course. Do you have any leads?" He changes the subject. He didn't want to push Gavin too far with that line of questioning.
Gavin nods and moves his feet off his desk, tapping on the computer until three files are pulled up. "This fucker is Jonathan Beek. He was arrested for assault using a bat. This one is Abby Willmore; she's works at the same hospital as the other androids. And this ugly fucker is Leon McKenny, he was just released from prison. He was busted for trying to drug androids. Though he may have something to do with it since he was cellmates with Beek."
"Wait, the androids all worked at the same hospital?" He quickly moves to stand behind Gavin, leaning in to see the screen.
Before Gavin can say anything he's interfacing with the computer and downloads all the information. He pulls his hand back, setting it down on the desk so he can lean on it.
His fingers brush against Gavin and Gavin quickly pulls his hand away. Connor hadn't meant to do that, but it still sent a jolt down his systems.
All of the androids had worked at Karmanos Cancer Institute and they all worked in the same area. This was definitely a lead.
"Fucking hell, you didn't have to do that weird android thingy. I was gonna answer you." Gavin mumbles, standing up.
"It's called interfacing, and it's faster that way." Connor points out.
"I know what fucking interfacing is. God damn, how does Hank stand you? You must be really good in bed if he willingly keeps you around." Gavin snorts.
Rage builds up and Connor grabs one of Gavin's arms while slamming his down into the desk. Gavin yelps but doesn't struggle in Connor's hold.
He leans down slightly, tightening his hold. "I don't care what you say about me, but I will not stand for you disrespecting Hank."
His relationship with the Lieutenant was purely platonic and he never even thought of him once in that manner.
Gavin's face turns bright red, but from what Connor isn't sure. He shifts slightly, before letting Gavin go. Even then he stays still for a few seconds longer, staring wide-eyed at Connor.
"He has some people we need to talk to. But I need to check on Sumo first. I can meet you at the hospital or you can join me." He smiles politely and Gavin finally stands back up on shaky legs.
"I'll come with," Gavin mumbles, staring at the ground. The officers around them quickly turn away when they see Connor looking their way.
Connor nods and turns on his heel, walking back out of the station. There were a few more hours until the change in the shift so they didn't have too much more time off they decided to end their day with everyone else.
Neither had taken a lunch break, so Connor really needed to at least let Sumo out to potty before they could continue.
Gavin followed after Connor, keeping his eyes trained onto the ground and hands shoved into his pockets.
Gavin drives and doesn't even try to make Connor drop his coin this time. His eyes almost seem glazed over as he stares at the road.
Connor doesn't question it, just like he doesn't question it when Gavin silently follows him into Hank's house.
He drops to the ground to pet Sumo before letting him out back. He closes the door and slowly turns when he hears Gavin walking towards him.
He's ready for whatever Gavin is going to say. What he isn't ready for is for Gavin to push himself against Connor, rolling his hips forward.
"You think you can just do that and get away with it?" Gavin sneers, pushing Connor back against the wall. "You're a fucking prick. Do you know how much I hate you?"
Connor stands there shocked for a few seconds. Out of everything Gavin could do—punching, yelling, shooting—grinding against him didn't seem like an obvious choice.
"You are too perfect. You got this stupid puppy dog eyes, and you can never do wrong. Fuck that, and fuck you." Gavin growls out.
Connor wasn't exactly opposed but he had hoped this would happen some other way. Maybe after Gavin finally got his head out of his ass.
"Will doing this make you more agreeable?" Connor questions. He doesn't want to do this just because Gavin is angry. If he was simply pissed then he could go off and find someone else to sleep it.
"Fuck off. Maybe. I don't know. Just don't slam me into any more desks." Oh, so that's why.
It made sense, but Connor hadn't thought about that possibility when he had done it. Was it the slamming into a desk or that he did so publicly that got him excited. Perhaps it was both.
Instead of answering out loud, he grabs Gavin and easily flips them around so Gavin is the one against the door.
Then Connor pushes their lips together, grabbing him by the hips and one hand around Gavin's throat. He doesn't actually squeeze, but he does put enough pressure for Gavin to feel it a bit.
Gavin gasps and Connor takes the opportunity. This was far from his first kiss, so he had no problem taking the lead.
He had experimented after his deviancy and he had found what he liked. There was always more to explore, but that could wait. For now, he focused on kissing Gavin until his knees were weak.
That goal was soon accomplished, and the main thing holding Gavin up was Connor's body pressed against him.
So Connor broke the kiss to reach down and pull Gavin up. Gavin yelps and wraps his legs around Connor.
He easily moves them to his own bedroom and dumps Gavin onto the bed, not even trying to be gentle. If Gavin liked it rough then that's what he was going to get.
Connor pulled down Gavin's pants and underwear in one motion. He didn't even let Gavin take a breath before he took him in hand.
Gavin moaned and gripped the blanket under him. "Fuck, Connor."
Connor smirks at Gavin before leaning down and takes his cock in his mouth. Gavin bucks up into him, but Connor shoves his hips back down.
Once he has Gavin full-on withering he sucks him to the base. Then he uses his throat and Gavin reaches down and grabs his hair, yanking on it hard.
Connor hums and continues for a few seconds longer before pulling off with a pop.
"When the fuck did you learn to do that?" Gavin pants, letting go of Connor's hair.
Connor pulls his clothes off and throws them towards his hamper. Gavin sits up quickly and pulls his own shirt off before reaching out to touch Connor.
He lets him explore his body before pulling Gavin into his lap. "Behind a bar." He mutters before nipping down Gavin's neck.
Gavin drags his nails down Connor's back. He would have broken skin if Connor was a human. Sadly he wouldn't be able to leave a mark on Connor. Though, Connor could leave many marks on Gavin.
He did try to keep them under where his shirt would be.
"Fucking ass! Too fucking perfect." Gavin says, once again yanking on Connor's hair. He pulls Connor away from his neck to crash their lips together.
It's far from gentle, and Connor bites Gavin's bottom lip hard enough to draw blood. In return, Gavin reaches down and grabs Connor's cock, roughly pumping his hand.
"Didn't know you had one of these." Gavin manages to get out between kisses.
"I thought you were being a dick to overcompensate, glad to see we were both wrong," Connor smirks before pushing Gavin to lie on his back.
"Fuck you!" Gavin sneers but spreads his legs. Connor reaches over and opens the small drawer beside his bed.
He didn't need lube for himself, but he kept it just in case he slept with a human. "I was planning on fucking you. You seem like the kind of slut to like that. You like to be used."
Connor could relate, though. If he was bottoming then he loved that. He loved feeling used and worthy. He wouldn't judge Gavin for what he liked.
"Yes! Fuck me. Please fuck me," Gavin begged, spreading his legs even wider. Connor opened the lube and spread some over his fingers.
Without any warning, he pushed a finger all the way in. Gavin let out a shout but didn't ask for Connor to stop.
He prepped him as fast as he could, adding fingers in without warning. Gavin didn't seem to mind, actually seemed to enjoy it quite a lot considering all the cursing and moaning that came out of him.
"Fuck me already you piece of shit!" Gavin snapped and Connor pulled his fingers out.
He was half tempted to slap Gavin's ass but he holds back. "So needy. You're such a slut for me." Connor murmurs as he lines himself up.
Gavin half-heartedly glares up at him but his expression quickly changes to one of pain and pleasure as Connor pushes in.
He only waits a few seconds before he starts to move. He'd instantly stop if Gavin asked him to, but that didn't seem to be happening any time soon.
Connor grabbed Gavin's legs, pulling them so they were hooked over his shoulder. Gavin was babbling nonsense as he sped up, hitting his prostate with each thrust.
Connor was so close to the edge, but he wanted Gavin to come first. That doesn't seem like that'll take much longer.
Gavin comes with a shout, and Connor doesn't slow. He spends up just slightly and soon he's coming inside of Gavin. His hips keep rocking until he's completely spent.
Gavin is completely limp on the bed, staring up at Connor through glazed eyes.
Connor pulls out slowly and drops onto the bed beside him. His energies are far lower than he'd like. He hadn't thought he'd go through this much exercise and emotional strain so he hadn't actually gone into stasis for a few days.
"I need to sleep for a few minutes to regain my energy. You can stay here if you'd like." Connor mumbles. A large part of him wants Gavin to stay. He wants to curl up and pull him to his chest.
He doesn't get his answer before he falls asleep, but he doesn't feel Gavin leave the bed either.
He's abruptly woken up by a wet, large tongue being dragged across his face. His internal clock tells him he had only slept for thirty minutes.
He gently pushes Sumo away, wiping his face off before opening his eyes.
The bed beside him is cold and Gavin's clothes are no longer on his floor. He must have let Sumo in at some point while Connor was asleep.
Connor climbs out of bed, grabbing his clothes and putting them in the hamper before pulling on clean ones.
He walks out of the room, Sumo following along beside him. The house is completely silent and empty.
Connor's heart sinks and he stares at the door. He should have expected Gavin to leave. He should have known this was just a way for him to get his frustration out. Yet he couldn't stop the tears that threaten to spill over.
It wasn't like he hadn't had one night stands before, but this was different. He actually knew Gavin, at least somewhat. He thought there was the chance that Gavin really knew him, and wanted to be with him.
But of course, he was wrong. Of course, Gavin didn't want him. Who would? He was only good for a quick fuck. Why had he thought this time was different?
He slowly slides to the ground, tears running down his cheeks. How could he be so stupid? Why had he let himself think Gavin would have stayed?
He buries his face in Sumo's fur, letting out choked sobs. It was like someone took a hammer to his chest and beat him with it until his thirium pump was in tiny shards all over the ground. If he moved he'd step on a shard and just cause him more pain.
He stays on the floor until he can finally pull in a breath. He stumbles back into his room and curls up on the bed. Sumo jumps up and lies at his feet, laying his head on Connor's legs.
He closes his eyes and slowly drifts off into sleep.
He drags himself out of bed in the morning. He goes through the motions with limbs that feel as heavy as lead, but he has to work. They still have a case to solve, no matter how much it's going to hurt to be around Gavin.
He'd be completely professional. No snark, no sass. He could do this. He just had to solve this case and hopefully, Hank would be back early.
Then he could eat all the thirium ice cream he wants, while curled up on the couch rewatching Finding Nemo for the hundredth time. Hank would sit with him and Connor wouldn't even scold him for the beer he would drink or the pizza he would order.
He made sure Sumo was well taken care of before calling a cab. Part of him wants the cab to get in some accident so he doesn't have to face Gavin.
Sadly the ride goes quickly and smoothly. He gets to the precinct in record time which makes him just want to smash his head into the cab.
Instead, he climbs out and makes his way in. He doesn't even look at Gavin's desk, heading straight to his own. He had nothing to apologize for. Gavin hadn't given him any indication to stop, and he definitely would have if Gavin had.
Gavin didn't really have anything to apologize for either. It wasn't like he was required to stay afterward. He didn't have to at least wait until Connor woke up to leave.
Yet Connor wanted to wake up with Gavin lying beside him. He had done exactly what he didn't want to do until Gavin stopped hating his kind.
He hadn't even thought of that when they kissed. He hadn't even thought to really think if he was honest. So if there was anyone to blame it was himself.
He sat down at his desk and clocked in. He'd have to question people at the hospital but for now, he simply logs all the information they had already gathered.
He goes over the victims and finds some interesting information. The first one to die was an android made specifically to help patients with cancer. The android–Goa–had continued to work as a doctor even after the revolution.
Another one–Sierra– had been a consulting doctor that often helped Goa after the revolution.
The other two had been nurses while the ST200 had been a receptionist. Perhaps a human had been angry about being cared for by androids.
It seemed a bit excessive to beat the androids as much as he did if it was just because of that. There had to be something else he was missing.
"Let's go to the hospital," Gavin says, causing Connor to practically jump out of his skin. He hadn't heard him walk up, but he had been incredibly focused.
He can't even look up to meet Gavin's eyes before he stands and pushes his chair in.
If he thought the car rides had been awkward before, they had nothing on this. Connor wasn't going to be the one to break the silence. If Gavin wanted to talk about what had happened, then he would. Until then, Connor would keep his mouth shut and to himself.
The hospital is pristine and has that odd smell only hospitals could have. The floors and walls were white and the lights bounced off them a bit too much.
The two flash their badges and ask the receptionist a few questions. Apparently, the ST200 had kept the name Chloe and everyone loved her. Even the humans that had been unsure of androids had quickly warmed up to her.
They then move on to question the other nurses, but they get the same results. No one had any idea as to who could have wanted them dead.
There was the possibility that it was another nurse, but none fit the requirements.
They pull a human doctor aside when the man has a break.
"So, do you know of anyone who fits this description?" Gavin asks curtly. His arms are crossed and he stands as far away from Connor as possible without seeming odd.
The doctor thinks for a second before his eyes light up. "There is one man, he just left. His name is Noah Alexander Smith. His son had same cancer as him and was treated here. He sadly didn't make it, but he went into remission shortly after his son's death."
"You said he just left?" Connor asks, quickly glancing at Gavin. The doctor nods and gives them a brief description before the two run towards the parking deck.
The man fit the description perfectly and he had a reason to kill. He probably blamed everyone at that hospital for his son's death.
"Noah Smith puts your hands up," Connor calls out once they finally find him. The man turns to glance back at them before taking off running.
Gavin and Connor both let out a sigh before they start chasing after him. They chase him until they get to the top of the parking deck.
Before either can truly react the man turns and fires a gun at them. Both Connor and Gavin reach for theirs, but it's Gavin who makes the shot.
The man drops to the ground and Gavin quickly runs over to check his pulse. There isn't one but Gavin wasn't surprised, he had gotten him in the head. He pulls his phone out and quickly calls for help, but Connor can barely think over the pain.
Gavin does a quick check over himself, glad to find no bullet holes.
Connor stumbles closer, pressing a hand against his stomach. It hurts so much but he can't seem to say anything.
"Can't believe that. We were right there and he still missed." Gavin sighs, shaking his head, but still not looking towards Connor.
Connor sways on his feet, his vision glitching and warnings flashing in front of his eyes. "He didn't miss, Gavin," Connor mumbles before his legs give out.
"Shit!" Gavin yells, quickly moving to catch him before he hits the ground. Gavin slowly lowers them until they are sitting, and Connor keeps his hand over his wound. "Fuck, hey it'll be ok, right?"
Connor blinks a few times to try to clear his vision. The warnings and alerts won't stop and the timer to shutdown starts. "I need, I need to go into stasis. It'll give me more time." He breathes out.
"No, no you need to stay awake. Connor, come on. I can't lose you." Gavin pleads, pressing his hand against Connor's. He winces at the pain, body jerking slightly. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. Have to keep pressure, ok?"
Connor nods and leans heavily against Gavin. "Yeah. Did you call for help?"
"Of course I did, you fucking idiot. They'll come and you'll be fine. Just gotta fix you up." Gavin says, pulling him closer.
Connor's eyes fill with tears as he checks his time. "I really need to go into stasis. Stay with me?" He pleads his arms and legs slowly going limp.
"Of course, I won't leave you, Connor," Gavin says, before frantically calling for help.
Connor snorts and nuzzles closer. "But you left yesterday. I fell asleep and you left me."
Connor can hear how fast Gavin's heart is beating as he brings a shaky hand up to touch Gavin's face. "I didn't think I was wanted. But I'll never leave. I want to stay by your side."
"Why do you-" his mind is flooded with more alerts and he quickly brushed them away. "Why do you hate androids?"
"I-I don't hate androids. I hate the man who created them, you. I was just angry and scared. I promise I don't hate you." Gavin says.
"Oh, well you can tell me more about tha-" he's cut off by his systems forcing him into stasis. The last thing he hears is Gavin yelling his name.
He slowly wakes up in a bed that's definitely in a hospital. His internal clock tells him he's been out for five hours and forty-two minutes.
The main in his stomach is almost completely gone, but it does feel a bit different.
Once all of his systems are up he slowly opens his eyes. The lights are bright so he turns his head. Gavin and Hank both sit in chairs beside his bed. Hank is asleep while Gavin is fiddling with a coin.
"I can teach you if you'd like," Connor mutters. Gavin jerks and the coin drops to the floor, but neither of them cares.
Gavin jumps up and slams their lips together. It's a bit uncomfortable and there's way too much teeth, but Connor loves it anyway.
Gavin slowly pulls away and presses their foreheads together. "I thought I lost you."
"You can't get rid of me that easily." They both keep their voices down for Hank. Connor stares at Gavin, not being able to get enough. "Though, I still want to know about why you hate androids, or well, why you hate Elijah Kamski."
Gavin sighs and sits on the bed, interlacing their fingers. "It's a long story, but basically, Elijah is my brother. We had a big fight and yeah. I promise I'll really explain it later, but for now, I think Hank should be woken up."
"How about this. You tell me about you and Kamski later but you kiss me a few more times before waking Hank." Connor says, grinning up at him.
Gavin pretends to think for a second before nodding. "I think I can agree with that." Then Gavin leans back down, cupping his face gently.
It's much softer than before and Connor feels like he's floating on a cloud.
"Oh, Jesus Christ Connor!" Hank shouts and both Gavin and Connor burst into laughter.

Dishonorable intentions. | Thomas Shelby x Reader Imagine.
Part II.
*Sidenotes: I was inspired and some anons asked me to do the second part of dishonorable intentions, soooo here it is! I’ve decided it’ll have more parts so hope you enjoy it.
*Resume: You and Tommy go on your first date.
Thomas lit another cigarette. Feeling the smoke in his lungs gave him a sense of calmness. A feeling he really needed in that exact moment. They were counted the times that Thomas Shelby had been nervous: when Hughes kidnapped Charlie, in the tunnels when he was in the war, in the birth of Charlie and Ruby and another time: when he saw YN for the very first time. YN in the war. YN as a nurse. He hit the cigarette again. Fuck. How long was she going to make him wait?
He wasn’t going to lie, he never thought a girl like YN would accept to go on a date with him. You could tell from miles away that they were completely different from the other.
First we have Thomas. The all mighty, Thomas Shelby. The son of an Irish immigrant man and a Romani gipsy woman, born and raced in Small Heath, Birmingham, England. He was in his late 30s about to jump to the 40s. A charmer by nature and way to intelligent for his time. A man who grew up without shoes to wear or food to eat, a man who growing up only had bread and lard when he dreamt and hoped that maybe one day, he’ll be able to do and have whatever he wanted. He worked hard until he created his own empire, but Tommy knew that no amount of money allows you to pass through the steel sheets that separates one class from another. He knew it cause he had lived it. But even when he born with nothing, he became one of the most powerful men in all Europe. He was brilliant, aggressive but rational, he knew what he wanted and he didn’t ask permission, he does what he wants and takes what he needs. A genius, a womanizer, millionaire, CEO of multiples business, philanthropist, and yet, he didn’t felt worthy of dating someone like YN. He dated Greta, Grace, May, Lizzie, Tatiana, Jessie, and many more, but he never felt unworthy to have them, to be with them. Only with YN.
And then we have YN. YN Casiraghi was born and raised in London. A 22 year old Heiress of one of the most influential and wealthiest families in Europe. YN was passionate about everything that could make her feel free and liberated. She loved to travel, to read, to study, to work, to learn. Her dream was to become an independent woman who didn’t have to depend of a man. YN was a free spirit. Determinate and stubborn, yet free and playful, flirty and seductive, intelligent and fearless. Growing up YN had everything she wanted or needed, she grew up being spoiled but never being a brat or a mean girl. She was a good girl and everyone wanted to be her or be with her. YN was special. Everyone loved YN, not just because she was beautiful and smart, a popular socialite who knew everyone and ruled every place she went to. They loved her because she was sweet, because she always tried to help, because she wasn’t selfish or shallow, because she cared.
YN Casiraghi and Thomas Shelby. When black meets white. When yin meets yan. When two worlds collide.
YN closed the door behind her, and with a smile she started to walk towards Tommy. . Thomas glanced toward the entrance of her house...and his mouth dries. She’s standing on the entrance, and for a second he doesn’t realize it’s her. She looked exquisite: her hair falls in soft waves to her breast on one side, and on the other it’s pinned back so it’s easier to see her delicate jawline and the gentle curve of her slender neck. She’s wearing high heels and a tight light blue dress that accentuates her alluring figure. Wow. Her lips in her classical red lipstick. A red that could drive any man crazy, including Thomas Shelby. The closer she was to him, the more his heart skipped a beat.
-Hi.-YN chuckled. Damn. Thomas Shelby looked way more handsome than he had years before when she last saw him.
-Hello love.-Tommy spoke after extinguish the fire of his cigar by throwing it away.-So, are you ready sweetheart?-He extended his hand so she could take it and help her get to the car.
-I’m YN, not your love and surely not your sweetheart, love.-The girl smiled one last time before she started walking to the Bentley parked in front of her house. She didn’t even waited for Thomas to open the door for her. She opened herself and got in the car. Thomas didn’t took long to follow. He started the car and away they go.
The ride was pretty fast before they arrived to the Hotel Café Royal, a place that both of them knew very well. It was an hotel where everyone who was a somebody hanged out.
Winston Churchill, Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, Einstein, Henry Ford, George Washington, Charles Chaplin, Ernest Hemingway, Coco Chanel, you name it.
When YN got off the car, she couldn’t stop herself from rolling her eyes. It wasn’t funny anymore, almost every guy she went out on a date with, thought it was a great idea to have a first date in that same place. Every fucking time. When Tommy got to her side he put his hand in her waist, pushing a bit so she could start walking into the hotel. And YN could’ve sworn that electricity ran through her whole body. It wasn’t normal how nervous he could make her with a simple gesture.
-Cmon lov... YN.-Tommy killed a smile that was starting to appear on his face. She was something else. She reminded him of Dangerous, one of his most loving horses, she wasn’t scared to take what she wanted, she wasn’t afraid to do whatever that would please her, cause if freedom could be a person, it would be YN.
The both entered to the Oscar Wilde salon, filled with aristocrats and important people who tried to impress each other. The hostess and a waiter took YN and Thomas to their table, the best table in the whole place. A table with a view. YN was a sucker for a killer view, but at the end of the day, it was a view she knew way to well.
-Here you go Mr. Shelby and Mrs. Casiraghi. So, can I bring you something to drink?-The young man asked with a smile, you could tell the poor thing was really nervous. He has to serve two of the most important clients of the Hotel.
-I’ll have a glass of Sancerre.-The girl spoke with confidence, after turning his gaze to the blue eyed.
-I’ll have a whiskey. Irish.-The kid left as quickly as possible, trying to bring their drinks asap. Thomas got closer to her. -You look stunning.- He said in a whisper, and kissed her cheek. Closing his eyes, Him savoring her scent; she smelled heavenly. It didn’t took long before YN started to blush, she was very used to men giving her compliments of all kind, but there was something in the way Thomas did it that drove her crazy.
-You look pretty good too, I’m glad to see you in one piece, I’ll admit that the last time I saw you, I didn’t though you’ll make it.-She spoke with clarity, something that Tommy was starting to appreciate. Tommy chuckled, even when he was pretty used to having a poker face and nothing and no one surprised him, she did. She was something different. -So how did you found me? And what took you so long?
A smile appeared on Tommy and a minute later, the drinks were in their hands.
-Well, well, you play no games, don’t you?... When I finally went back to Birmingham, where I’m from, I wasn’t the man you met. Everything changed in me. I became a different man, all my believes, my ideas, my feelings and emotions died in France, stayed in France. But, when I came back I started looking for you and to be honest, it wasn’t hard, you’re kind of a celebrity. I know that princes, dukes, ministers, rich gals, and almost every man with eyes would kill to be by your side. I know you’re well educated, you’re probably the only woman I know that went to college. I know who you are. So now tell me, would you even say hello to the man I was before I became who I am now? No YN, you wouldn’t. Cause at the end of the day I’m not a man who could’ve dated you, cause I didn’t had anything to offer you. So how was I supposed to chase a woman like you? Let’s be honest love, you’re out of my league. -Thomas sipped from his whisky, his eyes never leaving hers.- I started my company, doing bets, protecting people, doing business and everything else for two reasons, the first one is cause I always wanted to give my family everything they deserved and the second, cause I want to get myself anything I want, anything I desire, and guess what? I desire you, YN. I want you. I’ve wanted you since the first time I saw you in France.- She didn’t say a word. To be honest, she was pretty amused.
The dinner went by fast. Not much talk between them but also, they couldn’t keep their gaze to themselves. They ate and have one or two laughs. Everything was going okay. It was average. But YN always wanted more than average.
-So now that you’ve tried to impress me and clearly failed, why don’t you take me to somewhere that I can actually have fun. Somewhere you actually enjoy, somewhere we can be ourselves and stop pretending. Show me where would Thomas Shelby take a girl to have a little fun?
-You won’t like it. I’m not sure you’ll like my world.
-Hmm... I’m feeling adventurous.- a smile appeared on her face, she was challenging him.
-Okay... cmon...-He stood up after leaving some cash on the table, giving the young waiter, the tip of his life. And for the first time on the whole night YN took his hand. They drove away and YN could see how the streets of London changed from the safest and prettiest ones to the dangerous and poorest. She loved to be out of her comfort zone. Thomas parked his car and she could notice a few blocks away from they parked, lights that attracted everyone.
-A pub? You brought me to a freakin pub?
-Oi! This isn’t like a pub you’ve probably been to. This is not the type of gals you interact with. This are working men, men who fought in France, men who don’t care about money or your last name... trust me, you’ll have a blast. I promise.
-And if I don’t?-She asked challenging him again. She loved to play.
-If you don’t have fun, you’ll decide where we go the next time... but if you do have fun, I’ll kiss you.
-Who says there’s going to be a second date?
-Its a feeling love... now let’s go.
Thomas couldn’t take his eyes away from her while she walked. He had been waiting for this moment all day and looked thru out the day, repeatedly at his watch. This feels like a first date, and in a way it is, but Tommy didn’t do first dates, not until her. He had never taken a prospect girl out to dinner. He had sat through interminable meetings that day, bought a business, and fired three people. Nothing He had done today, including almost killing a man, dispelled the anxiety Tommy had wrestled with all day. That power is in the hands of YN. YN made him anxious, he hadn’t even taste her but he was already addicted.
As they entered the pub fulled with men who feared, loved and respected Thomas, everything got quiet. Not a soul would dare to speak.
-Fellas. Is this a funeral or why the scary faces? Cmon! Drinks are on me today! You deserve it! -
Every man in the room cheered, but Thomas only noticed the admiring glances from those same men, and in the case of one handsome, athletic guy, overt appreciation of his date. It’s not something Tommy have dealt with before...and to be honest, he didn’t liked it. It seemed that that night, all the men only had eyes for Miss YN. They walked while Thomas gave them a withering look that send them in retreat from the room. Taking her hand, he lead her to the bar.
-Mr. Shelby! So nice to see ya again-An old man smiled to the couple.
-What would you like to drink?- Tommy is rewarded with a knowing smile as she sits down.
-I’ll have whatever you’ll have, please.
-Two whiskeys, Irish, Tom.- Tommy said to the bartender before they slide into a booth. Thomas sitting right next to her.
-So... you’re quite de celebrity aren’t you?-She smiles to him while making fun on him. YN actually was surprised of all the love Thomas Shelby received and yet, he didn’t seem to care.
They drank the whole night, she sang to him, and he danced with her. They talked, for hours. They went to the roof of the pub and watch some fireworks. YN talked about college, about art, about her favorite books, about her fears, she even talked about Alex. Tommy talked about his family, about the company, about Ruby and Charlie, he talked about his childhood, about the games he played with his brothers, about the war. It was so easy to talk to each other. It felt like they’ve always known each other. YN was everything Tommy always wanted, she wasn’t afraid of thinking for herself, she was smart and she was passionate about almost everything that intrigued her. She was fearless and a little bit reckless, yet caring and loving. And she laughed, she laughed about everything and it was really easy for her to make new friends. She loved to party and to have fun. She wasn’t scared to be herself in a world that tells you who you are supposed to be. Fuck. Thomas really liked her. And Tommy was everything YN always craved. A rational man who didn’t fear his instincts. A man who cared about his family and everyone he loved. He was powerful and a control freak, but with her he let go. He was free and wasn’t scared of anything. He does what he wants and takes what he wants. He has ambitions and damn he’s intelligent. Oh and he’s gorgeous.
They laughed and talked for hours and hours, until it was early in the morning. 5 am marked the clock, but they wanted so much of each other that time didn’t seem to care. But they had stuff to do, even if the dreamt of staying in that little booth their whole lives, real life was starting out there.
-Let’s go YN, I’ll take you home.-He took her hand and they started to walk in the still dark sky, out of the pub they acted as if they still were in their bubble.
-I don’t want this to end...-She spoke while walking before she stopped to look at Tommy.-I feel so liberated when I’m with you.
-Well did you have fun?-Thomas asked the girl while he cornered her to a wall. Her back hitting lightly the wall. Him getting closer to her. Bodies brushing into one and other.
-Are you kidding me? This is the most fun I’ve had in a long time...-She smiled to him and Tommy could’ve sworn he could feel his heart race.
-Good. That’s good. Cause know I’m going to be able to do something I’ve been wanted to do since the first time I saw you in France.-And with that being said, Thomas kissed the red lips of the girl who had been teasing him all night. And god she felt so good. She was a goddess, of that Tommy was sure. And she tasted so heavenly.
-You’re going to be the death of me love...-Thomas said in a whisper before driving YN to her house and ending their beautiful night.

Another Life or Another Dream
AO3
Stanford Pines is seven years old and can’t sleep.
His brother, Stanley Pines—also seven—can’t sleep either.
These things may or may not be directly related.
“Sixer, s’like, the middle of the night.”  Stan, still mostly asleep, pulls a pillow over his face.
Ford, hanging upside down off his bed, swats the pillow away.  “It’s two in the morning, Stanley.”
“Yeah?  S’worse.”  Stan pats around for the pillow for about three seconds before giving up and tossing his arm over his eyes.  “Go back to sleep.”
“I can’t.”
That gets him one open eye.  “Didja try lyin’ down.”
“Yes, Stanley.”
Both eyes open now.  “Bad dreams?”
Ford hesitates a moment, two, before admitting, “Yes.”
Stan is scowling, but Ford knows it’s not at him.  “Want me to go check in the closet?”
“No.”
“Under the bed?”
“No.”
Stan’s scowl has morphed into a frown.  He’s thinking.
“I fell asleep reading a book about monsters,”  Ford offers.  Maybe if Stanley has more information he’ll be able to help.  “I didn’t get to the part about how to fight them—maybe if I read that it’ll help.”
Stan, wide awake now, stands up on his mattress so Ford doesn’t have to lean out so far.  “Want me t’ listen so I’ll know too?”
Ford had really been hoping for this, but he offers Stan an out, just in case: “You sure?”
“Yeah, dude.”  Stan bounces up; Ford catches his arm and helps drag him up into the top bunk.  “You think I’d miss a chance to punch a monster?”
“You wouldn’t miss a chance to punch anything.”
“‘Xactly.”  Stan pokes him in the ribs, right where he’s ticklish.  Ford scoots away before either of them can escalate things.  “Start readin’, Sixer.”
Ford opens the book to the correct chapter and clears his throat, like the announcers on the radio do when they have something important to say.  “All right.  ‘Changelings are fearsome creatures, but they are not invincible.  There are some weaknesses you can exploit, should you be faced with this beast…”
*****
Stanford Pines is twenty years old and can’t sleep.
Fiddleford is awake as well, but he seems happy with this state of affairs, blankets pulled up to his chin to ward off the chill of their poorly-equipped dorm and weighty book of advanced mechanics balanced on his knees.
Most nights, Ford is perfectly content to work well into the earliest hours of the morning, and sometimes straight through until classes the next day.
With the current state of his throat, head, and overall wellness, however, he would welcome unconsciousness over the awful half-alert state he’s been in most of the day.
A stifled cough escapes—his control is slipping, after twenty-three hours of forcing his mind and body to operate at normal capacity—and catches Fiddleford’s attention.
“Stanford?”  Fiddleford lowers the book just enough to see over it.  “Y’alright?”
Ford discreetly clears his throat.  “Fine, yes.”  Damn.  He still sounds like he’s dragging his voice over a gravel road.
Fiddleford’s book is lying in his lap now, disregarded.  “You sure about that?”
He’s using the tone that means he knows Ford is lying, and that he’s allowing one more chance for Ford to tell the truth of his own volition.  Ford ignores it.  “Certainly.”
Fiddleford is glaring overtop of his glasses now.  “Stanford Pines, you are sick as a dog, and lying like one t’boot.”
Ford badly wants to make a sarcastic response, but he’s no longer sure he can speak without setting himself off coughing.  He settles for a shrug.
“Did you take anything?”
Another shrug.
“Heaven’s sakes, Stanford.”  Fiddleford tosses his book aside and bustles off to the drawer that contains various over the counter medications (his), snacks (his), and spare pencils (Ford’s).
Two minutes and no less than six furious and deathly sincere threats of shoving aspirin “down your stubborn gullet God help me I’ll do it,”  Ford has been coerced into taking painkillers and drinking a glass of water.  Fiddleford offered to run out and get soup and crackers, but Ford refused.  Fiddleford has a test tomorrow—he should be sleeping.
“It ain’t until tomorrow afternoon, knucklehead,”  Fiddleford says when Ford suggests this.  “I got time.”  A moment of silence.  “Still can’t sleep?”
Ford makes a vague gesture with his hand to the affirmative.  Now that Fiddleford knows he’s ill, there’s no need to try and keep up a facade of being well.
“My sister used t’read to me when I couldn’t sleep.”  Fiddleford hefts his book.  “This stuff’ll put me to sleep, and I like mechanics.  I bet it’ll work on you.”
“Bet it won’t,”  Ford rasps.
“I’m not takin’ that bet because you’ll kill yourself to win.”  Fiddleford fluffs his pillow behind him, clearly settling in for the night.  “I’m gonna read out loud and you can tell me to shut up whenever.”  He harrumphs and starts from what’s clearly the middle of a sentence in the middle of a chapter.  “—can be modified to accept most kinds of springs.”
Ford doesn’t tell him to shut up.
*****
Stanford Pines is twenty-eight years old and can’t sleep.
To be entirely truthful (and the rarity with which he is truthful these days, even to himself, would be disturbing if he could dredge up the energy to feel disturbed), he can’t remember the last time he did sleep.  Possibly three days ago.
Now, being unconscious while a multi-dimensional demon uses your body for nefarious means probably should not count as sleep, but the other option was to admit that he truly could not remember the last time he slept, and that was unacceptable.
So.  Three days ago.
His house is freezing.  He’s had this thought many times in the past however-long-it’s-been, and every time it takes him longer and longer to remember that this is because he fell behind on his heating bill at some point Before.
Absurd things, bills.  He should have built that self-sustaining generator and taken his house off the grid entirely.  Why hadn’t he?
Ah.  Yes.
Anyway, the cold makes him sluggish, but not sleepy, so it’s nothing to be concerned about.  Imagine being concerned with something like the temperature.
Ridiculous.  There are thousands of things much more concerning than the measure of hot or cold, and he is dealing with approximately nine hundred and fifty-three of them.
This is not an exaggeration.  He did the math a few days (months? years?) ago.
Oh, it would have been three days ago—he remembers because he came to groggy and wondering when theoretical mathematics made his ribs hurt.  His head, certainly, if the problem was knotty enough, but surely not his ribs?
Realization had set in a moment later (as had the ever-impending panic attack, but let’s not dwell on that).
The glass of water he’d been drinking falls from his hand, apparently for no reason.  He stares at it blankly, mind automatically attempting to draw patterns in the spattered liquid and crystalline shards of glass.
Another part of him offers some comparison between his own mind and the shatter-shapes of the glass.  He promptly silences that part.
He’s shivering.  Probably it’s why he dropped the glass.  Probably it’s the cold.
He tucks his hands under his armpits.  That should help.
Still.  Best not to sleep.
*****
Stanford Pines is fifty-something years old and can’t sleep.
His sleep schedule is haphazard, but the sleep itself is better than it has been in years.  Complete and utter exhaustion will do that for a man.
The nightmares don’t even wake him up every time anymore, so those ones don’t count.
Unfortunately, tonight he’s let himself go past ‘exhausted to the point of collapse’ and right into ‘exhausted to the point of being too wired to sleep’.
Nothing Bill has or ever will put him through could rival the sheer torture of this state of being.  He takes a moment to enjoy being able to think such a thing without fear that Bill will pull the thought from his head and use it against him.  Only a moment, though—his concentration is too fragmented for anything more.
He won’t take anything to help himself sleep—he never does.  He can’t.  A single moment of grogginess could be a moment too many, and he won’t take that risk.
He falls back on well-worn techniques instead—cataloguing the constellations of different worlds, conjugating pluperfect Kesslian verbs, translating a poem he heard at a campfire one time.
He doesn’t think about Earth.  Somehow that never helps.
There is one thing to say for running so utterly on empty:
once you fall asleep, you’re far too tired to dream.
*****
Stanford Pines is fifty-eight years old and can’t sleep.
He was asleep, until about thirty seconds ago.
He much prefers being awake.
His hands are shaking and his heart is pounding and judging from the pain when he twists to look at the clock, he probably wrenched his back again.
There is nothing yellow in the room.  The only omen of Bill is the remembered laughing cacophony in his head.
Sometimes, in more morbid moments, he fancies that the metal plate reinforcing his skull only gives Bill better ambiance and acoustics for his fits of hysterics.
His back is aching and it’s still hours before anyone else will be up and he can’t tell if the faint tremor in his body is from exhaustion or the nightmare.
He still prefers being awake.
*****
Stanford Pines is fifty-eight years old and can’t sleep.
It isn’t because of nightmares or illness.  There are no demons, real or imagined, and he isn’t lost in another dimension.
“And then what, Grunkle Ford?”
It is, in fact, because of two small children with an insatiable appetite for stories.
Ford smiles at Mabel.  She’s far more likely to air her impatience with his theatrical and intentionally-provoking pauses than Dipper, though her twin’s expression matches her eagerness.
“Are you sure you want to know?”  He asks, just for that little bit more.
Mabel does not disappoint.  She swats at him—she has quite an arm; Ford wouldn’t be surprised if Stan has been giving her boxing lessons—and yells “YES!”
“C’mon, Grunkle Ford, tell us,”  Dipper cajoles.
“All right, all right.”  He leans in, as though to tell them a secret, and they mimic the motion, eyes bright with anticipation.  “The ice would have crushed the boat if we had tried to go through—so we went over instead.”
Bafflement.  “What?”
“We flew.”
Astonishment.  “It was a flying ship?”
Ford laughs.  He can’t help it—their unfeigned delight at the strangeness of the universe reminds him of days when his eyes had been that bright, his wonder that unfettered.
He is living those days vicariously through them for now, for now, but—maybe not forever.
He has hope that he will live them for himself again someday soon.
He has hope for a lot of things now, actually.
It’s nice.
Mabel opens her mouth to ask what is probably seven or eight questions all at once, and lets the air out in an ear-piercing squeal as Stan swoops in from behind and swings her up onto his shoulders.  He catches Dipper with his other hand, tucking the boy up under his arm.  “All right, you little gremlins, time to hit the sack.”
“Awwww—”
“But Grunkle Stan—”
“Don’t ‘but Grunkle Stan’ me, kiddo.”  He gives Dipper a little shake, nearly dropping him in the process.  He is either not aware of or ignoring the fact that Mabel has stolen his hat and is trying to find some way to wear it that will not impede her vision.  “Ford’s got enough nerd stories to last ten of your young lifetimes.  Trust me—I’d know.”
Ford makes a bit of a face at that.  He has to stop it from twisting into a smile when Stan makes a much more exaggerated face in return.
“Could you do the monster chase game, Grunkle Stan? Please?”  Mabel’s eyelash-batting is entirely wasted due to the fact that Stan can’t see her, but it adds something to her plea nonetheless.
“What’s in it for me?”
“We’ll go to bed without complaining?”  Dipper offers.
“If you catch us we’ll pick up the whole yard tomorrow!”
Ford and Dipper give near-identical winces at Mabel’s recklessness.
Stan, of course, is immediately sold.
“Done,” he says.  He swings Mabel off his shoulders and lets Dipper down, but keeps hold of both of them.  “Hope both of you are ready to lose all your free time.”
“Big words,”  Mabel challenges.
Stan snorts.  “On my mark—readysetgo!”
They’re off, Stan roaring in a fairly good imitation of the giant six-legged creature of unknown origin Ford had run across on D-272, and Dipper and Mabel laughing and shouting as they barrel toward the stairs.
It’s impossible to sleep through this racket.
Ford doesn’t mind at all.

Chapter Three: The Flying Ford Anglia.
It took a lot of convincing, but Ginny agreed to help her.
She wanted to go with them, but Mel told her that in case someone entered her room to check on them Ginny had to stay so she could pretend they were both sleeping. It was an important part, so she took it proudly.
Then she went to Charlie’s room and informed her mother she would be sleeping with Ginny that night cause she wanted to have a sleepover. Her mum agreed, her only condition being not staying up for too long.
At midnight she reunited with Fred and George, Ron took longer since his room was on the highest level and he had to be careful not to make a lot of noise.
“You remember how to get there, right?” George whispered to her as they got inside the car.
“Positive, I usually get sick so I can’t sleep inside cars,” Mel grimaced, “I hope is not the same with flying ones”
“Hope so,” George nodded, “ready?”
“Let’s go,” Fred smiled eagerly, he turned the ignition on.
The car moved, only that instead of going back or front, it started to move upwards.
“Holy Godric,” Mel mumbled, peering over the window, “it’s flying…”
“You thought I was joking?” Fred huffed, looking ahead, “little faith you have in me…”
“Just drive,” Mel chuckled, “I’ll buy you tons of chocolate frogs after this”
“I prefer a butterbeer-”
“You can plan your date later,” George spoke up, “We should hurry, otherwise we’ll get there in broad daylight”
They travel almost in complete silence, Mel’s indications breaking the quiet from time to time.
“You know, they wouldn’t let him get Hedwig out of her cage,” Mel said, turning to see Ron, “maybe that’s why he can’t answer?”
“He could’ve sent them back with Errol,” Ron shook his head, “there’s something else going on”
“Privet drive,” Fred said after a moment, “it is, isn’t it?”
Mel looked out her window and saw the tiny houses, her heart thumped in her chest.
“Yes! My house is there, a little to the right… there!”
“Hold tight,” Fred moved forward and softly lowered the car until they were between Harry and Mel’s houses.
“Bars!” Mel exclaimed in outrage, “they put bars on his window!”
Ron opened the car’s window and started tapping Harry’s, the clanging sound loud enough for having Mr Dursley waking up to the noise.
“Harry’s a heavy sleeper, alright” Ron grumbled under his breath, “he won’t budge… no, he’s moving… He’s up!”
Mel peeked over his friend’s shoulder, but it was too dark. She didn’t have to wait long though, after a second the window opened and Harry’s voice came out.
“Ron! Ron, how did you - What the -?”
“All right, Harry?” asked George casually, she could tell her friend was enjoying himself.
“What’s been going on?” said Ron. “Why haven’t you been answering our letters? I’ve asked you to stay about twelve times, Mel’s been worried sick and then Dad came home and said you’d got an official warning for using magic in front of Muggles -”
“It wasn’t me - and how did he know?”
“He works for the Ministry,” said Ron. “You know we’re not supposed to do spells outside school -”
“You should talk,” said Harry, staring at the floating car.
“Oh, this doesn’t count,” said Ron. “We’re only borrowing this. It’s Dad’s, we didn’t enchant it. But doing magic in front of those Muggles you live with -”
“I told you, I didn’t - but it’ll take too long to explain now look, can you tell them at Hogwarts that the Dursleys have locked me up and won’t let me come back, and obviously I can’t magic myself out, because the Ministry'Il think that’s the second spell I’ve done in three days, so -”
“Nonsense!” Mel finally leaned over Ron so she could see Harry as well.
“Mel?” Harry frowned, “Emily’s gonna kill you”
“Stop gibbering,” said Ron. “We’ve come to take you home with us”
“We have to be quick,” Mel insisted, “we can argue later-”
“But you can’t magic me out either -”
“We don’t need to,” said Ron grinning. “You forget who I’ve got with me.”
“Tie that around the bars,” said Fred, throwing the end of a rope to Harry.
“If the Dursleys wake up, I’m dead,” said Harry as he tied the rope tightly around a bar and Fred revved up the car.
Mel could tell he wasn’t really lamenting the situation.
“Don’t worry,” said Fred, “and stand back.”
Fred flew up fast and something cracked underneath, the bars dangled a few feet above the ground. Ron leaned and with Mel’s help, they got them into the car. Fred reversed as close as possible to Harry’s window.
“Get in,” Ron said.
“But all my Hogwarts stuff - my wand - my broomstick -”
“Where is it?”
“Locked in the cupboard under the stairs, and I can’t get out of this room -”
No problem,” said George from the front passenger seat. “Out of the way, Harry.”
Fred and George climbed through the window and into Harry’s room. Mel waited with Ron inside the car.
“A lot of wizards think it’s a waste of time, knowing this sort of Muggle trick,” she heard Fred say, she didn’t know what he was talking about, “but we feel they’re skills worth learning, even if they are a bit slow.”
Harry’s door opened and George whispered:
“So - we’ll get your trunk - you grab anything you need from your room and hand it out to Ron and Mel”
“Watch out for the bottom stair - it creaks,” Harry whispered back.
Harry gave Ron his things and Mel took care of them, piling them into a corner. Soon the twins were back with his trunk and broom. The trunk was heavier than expected, Fred had to climb back into the car to help Mel and Ron.
“A bit more,” panted Fred, “One good push -”
Harry and George threw their shoulders against the trunk and it slid out of the window into the back seat of the car.
“Okay, let’s go,” George whispered.
Harry started to climb the window.
“Harry, you forgot-!”
But before she could say it, Hedwig let out a loud screech.
“THAT RUDDY OWL!” Mr Dursley’s voice came from inside the house.
“I’ve forgotten Hedwig!” Harry said in horror.
He rushed back to take the cage and hand it to Ron, as he started climbing, Mr Dursley appeared at his doorway. The man let out an animal sound as he ran, closing his hand around Harry’s ankle.
Ron, Fred, and George grabbed him by the arms, pulling him into the car.
“Petunia!” Mr Dursley shouted, “He’s getting away! HE’S GETTING AWAY!”
“Ugh-” Mel grabbed Harry by the collar of his shirt and pulled as hard as she could along with the Weasleys.
Harry was in the car - he’d slammed the door shut.
“Put your foot down, Fred!” yelled Ron.
Fred obliged without adding a word to it.
Harry leaned over Ron and rolled down the window, looking down: his relatives were far, far away from him.
“See you next summer!” He yelled.
The Weasleys laughed and Harry settled back in his seat, grinning from ear to ear.
“Let Hedwig out,” he told Ron, “She can fly behind us. She hasn’t had a chance to stretch her wings for ages.”
“Poor thing!” Mel observed as Ron opened the cage with George hairpin -she had to ask them to teach her that trick!- “she’ll be okay now…”
She hadn’t noticed, but Harry had been staring at her, beaming.
“Hi,” She smiled, turning her attention back to him, “how are you?”
“Hi,” Harry grinned, “I’m better”
“I’m glad,” She said, “I had missed the adventure, but rescuing you isn’t as fun as a good summer playing Quidditch, so I’m glad you’re here now. Happy belated birthday, by the way, I forgot your gift but I’ll give it to you as-”
Harry cut her speech as he enveloped her into a hug, catching her off guard.
“Oof!” She mumbled, hugging him back.
She stayed really still, enjoying the moment until someone cleared his throat behind Harry. It was Ron, his ears were red. George was looking at them with a teasing smile.
Mel and Harry broke apart, she gave him a few light pats on the shoulder, bright red and hoping that the darkness would drown out most of the color.
“Lovely reunion,” Fred teased, “you almost make me cry…”
Those bloody Weasleys.
“Shut up,” they replied in unison.
She looked over at her friend, a small smile spreading as Harry leaned back in his seat, sighing in bliss.

Here is it, part three! Unlike all my other stories each chapter is from dual points of view (divided into two parts) because I think this keeps the story moving faster and more fluidly. Let me know what you think of this format and the story so far : ) Read from the beginning at FF and AO3.
Synopsis: She skipped bail and he’s tasked to track her down. As a seasoned bounty hunter, it’s a fairly routine job on paper for Klaus Mikaelson but then he meets Caroline Forbes and has no idea what to do with her.
Thrill of the Chase - Part 3 - I Shot the Sheriff
Cumberland County, TN (Interstate 40)
Caroline
"Interesting song choice," Caroline offered, unable to help herself as the scenery rushed past her window. She decided to blame it on her friend called guilt that decided to rear its ugly head at the worst possible time.
"Why? You don't like Bob Marley?"
"Who doesn't like Bob Marley?" She countered, trying to ignore just how good he smelled from this close proximity. A mixture of soap, mint and something else enticing she couldn't quite identify.
She was actually a little thrown by the fact this very song was on her fugitive track list and the guy who picked her up on the side of the road just happened to be playing it.
Oh, and for the record, she didn't get in his car that easily, it took at least nine minutes. Even if every fibre of her being was ready to hop into his passenger seat as soon as he strolled over in all his blonde curls and black henley goodness. Caroline decided to blame it on distraction, pure and simple.
She'd managed to fumble through what she thought was fairly standard small talk followed by outlining her current dilemma. Given he had neither a spare tire or cell service, Caroline either had to trust him to call for help after leaving her by the road still stranded or go with him to the nearest town.
She figured the second option, albeit one her parents wouldn't endorse, was more expedient. She had places to be after all.
Yes, he could have been a serial killer, but she certainly wasn't squeaky clean herself. Plus, she was starving and had run out of snacks and really needed to use the restroom. She wasn't the pee in the bushes type of girl so Caroline had no other choice. Well, that's what she kept telling herself.
"So, do you think he did it?" She asked, probably against her best judgment.
"Did what?"
"Commit the crime. It's one thing to shoot the sheriff, because you know maybe he deserved it, but to be blamed for the deputy too? That's rough."
What he did next, she wasn't expecting. He let out a rich and throaty chuckle and Caroline didn't think it could sound any better than that sexy, English accent. But it did. It was so mesmerising that Caroline found herself laughing along.
"So, you're ready to throw the book at the poor guy?"
"No, I was just amused by your analogy. Here I thought the song was about corruption and injustice in general but you seem to take it almost personally." She cursed inwardly thinking that playing it cool was not her best trait.
Who was she kidding? She was woeful. Mainly because Caroline was a nosey person by nature but by posing questions she was just asking for them to be returned. She also didn't think they'd be analysing lyrics about committing crimes. Caroline might as well have stamped guilty all over her forehead.
"What can I say? I'm a sucker for the underdog."
"Nothing wrong with that, love."
"I have a name you realise?"
"Yes, but you didn't feel the need to share it when we first met even if I told you mine," he offered, his eyes not leaving the road. Even housed under those aviators, she didn't need to see them to know they were rolling.
"You could be a serial killer for all I know, Klaus," she said, emphasising his name. It was unexpected for sure but the more they talked, Caroline started to think it suited him. "Not that, you know, I'm, uh, giving you ideas or anything," she rambled, unable to stop the words tumbling from her mouth.
First, she was talking about shooting law enforcement and now mass murder. Yeah, Caroline was dealing just fine with her current situation.
"Thanks," he shot back. "You know, for not giving me any ideas. If I hadn't met you god knows how many people I could have killed today at least."
"You're hilarious," she drawled. "So, why did you stop? By the road I mean, not your killing spree."
"My conscience," he began. "It has this annoying way of niggling at me until I do the right thing. Plus, maybe if I do something good the universe will return the favour."
"I'm convinced that's an urban legend."
"Oh, like the killer in the backseat?" Caroline couldn't help herself and turned around to inspect it. "Gotcha."
Maybe the universe was more in tune than she first thought given it was playing tricks on her and not the good kind. Caroline had a mind to right all of her wrongs then and there but knew that would take a lot more energy and will than she currently possessed. She'd said as much to her friend Bonnie and that was only a couple of hours into her road trip.
"Your dad sent his favourite henchman to my apartment," she joked through the phone. "He could have at least sent one of the cute ones."
"I'm sorry, I'll be sure to tell him to send Tyler or Jesse next time," she drawled. "How is the lovely Alaric?"
"Urgh," she groaned. "I had to take a shower afterwards, he's that creepy."
"I'm sorry to put you in this position, Bon," she apologised. "When I made the decision to run I guess I didn't think about the ramifications. I should have realised that my parents know no bounds when it comes to harassing people, my friends included."
"Stop right there, Caroline Elizabeth Forbes," she chided. "I mean sure you didn't tell me you were actually going to run away in the first place but given the circumstances I can hardly blame you." Caroline winced knowing that it didn't sit well with one of her best friends.
"I didn't tell you because the less you knew the better," she reasoned, knowing she had good intentions at least. "I was always going to get in touch, I just needed to put some space between me and the city first."
"Well, now that he's gone can you please tell me why you've decided to go all Harrison Ford on me?"
"Clearly someone's been watching too many movies."
"And clearly someone is living one."
"I didn't kill my wife," she argued. "Not that Harrison Ford killed his wife either but you know what I mean."
"Please just tell me you have a plan and blasting NWA's choice thoughts about the police in your car doesn't count." Caroline muted her latest fugitive track, not realising just how loud it was playing.
"What makes you think I don't have a plan, Bonnie," she scoffed, feeling a little offended, even if she knew her friend was right. "I brought snacks and everything."
"Because that's the most important thing," she groaned. "I know things are strained with your parents and…"
"Don't say his name," she interrupted. "He, who shall not be named, doesn't deserve it."
"He called me."
"He what?" She squeaked, almost driving off the interstate as she said it. "I thought you would have had him blocked months ago."
"I kept his number so I knew if the idiot had the audacity to call, turns out he did," she explained. Caroline couldn't really argue given she'd done the same thing.
"When did he call?" Caroline asked curiously.
"About a half hour ago."
"Does he know that I…"
"No, I don't think so. I only answered to get him off your back and throw a few of those choice insults I'd stored up the past few months. But he said he's been trying to call you for a few days now, something you didn't feel the need to share obviously."
"Lucky me. Look, I didn't want to make you any madder than necessary given that hot temper," she continued before Bonnie could argue back. "I didn't answer and have no intention of listening to the string of pathetic voicemails he left either. Those are right up there with my parent's incessant pleas to get me to come home."
"He said he wants to talk."
"Well, too little too late," she muttered, thinking that nothing could salvage what was irreparably broken between them. Now, he was just messing with her and she didn't want to play. "But idiot aside, just know there's somewhere I need to be and I'll reevaluate things after that, I mean what's another week?"
Sure, she was living in a fantasy world but Caroline needed the time alone to put things into perspective. She figured her therapist Camille might even agree with that part.
"So, where is Kat these days?"
"Wow, I really suck at this 'on the run' thing."
"No, I just figured if anyone was going to play the Louise to your Thelma it would be her."
"Hey, I could be Louise!"
"You and I both know that's laughable," she joked. "And remember Thelma did get to do the nasty with Brad Pitt."
Instead of buoying her, the comment only made her feel pathetic that the last time she got laid was forever ago and the person was her poor excuse of an ex boyfriend.
"Well, what would a fugitive road trip be without bedding a cute cowboy in some skeezy motel," she quipped. There was only one guy she planned to see on this trip and things between them were purely platonic and uncomplicated. "Look, I should really get going, Bon, but I'll call you soon, okay?"
"Be safe," she murmured into the phone and Caroline felt like she was going to cry. It had only taken a few hours and she was already turning into a ball of emotional mush. Some hardened runaway she was.
"So, where are you going?" Caroline asked, determined to block out all other thoughts that might make her regret this little trip.
"Says the girl who won't tell me her name," he shot back, finally turning to face her, albeit briefly. Caroline shivered involuntarily, it seemed so much easier to converse when he wasn't looking straight at her, even in sunglasses. "Why? Where are you going?"
"Oh you know, here and there to visit some friends."
"How extremely specific," he joked. "I've been here and there and I have to say it's not too bad for the most part. You must have been a geography major, right?"
"You enjoy teasing me."
"What can I say? It's been a long drive so far, it's nice to have some company even if most of our conversation has centred around crime and punishment." Caroline felt her face warm, hoping that the blush creeping up her neck wasn't going to completely envelop her and give the game away.
She turned to look out her window, the scenery hadn't changed all that much since she climbed into his car but then she noticed a green sign ahead.
Welcome to Crab Orchard, Tennessee - Population 673
Looks like they'd arrived, to what and who Caroline wasn't quite sure.
Klaus
"Twizzler?" Klaus looked up distractedly to see his new, blonde friend waving a bunch of the red candy in his face.
"No, thanks," he offered. "I try not to eat anything…" he trailed off, subconsciously stroking his abdomen.
"Fun?" She inserted the word in his sentence, but didn't miss the way her eyes travelled to his abdomen and took in every stroke he made. Looks like Klaus wasn't the only one slightly distracted.
"Let's just say I practice this healthy regime and sugar is pretty much enemy number one."
"Like I said, no fun," she reiterated, her eyes finally meeting his and proceeding to bite onto one of the strands, her pink lips enclosing around it.
Klaus didn't think he'd ever seen something supposedly so innocent look anything but that. He watched in interest, unable to look away if he tried. When she started to moan happily from the taste, Klaus had to look away while trying to contain the thoughts he shouldn't be thinking in the first place.
She was a skip - his- after all. And apparently he was here to apprehend her, not entertain untoward thoughts. It seemed as if his professionalism had flown out the window the moment he clapped eyes on Caroline Forbes. He'd been inwardly arguing with himself for most of the drive. She was sitting in such close proximity to him completely unaware. The most unbelievable part? She was in his car without any need for coercion or handcuffs. Klaus couldn't remember the last time one of his felons had been this easy to capture.
Klaus figured it had something to do with her innocence and seemingly trusting nature. Something which intrigued him from the outset. If she was his friend or girlfriend he'd be absolutely affronted by her willingness to jump into a stranger's car but she wasn't. Although, if Klaus was being honest, he wasn't unwholly upset she was by his side at that moment.
At the same time, he couldn't help but think how good she smelled, a mixture of vanilla and roses - post rainstorm. She also had this adorable habit of scrunching up her nose when she spoke, a nose with a slight dusting of freckles he couldn't and didn't want to ignore.
Klaus shook his head, trying to concentrate. He really needed to apprehend her and he needed to do it now.
They were waiting for the mechanic in the sleepy, little town of Crab Orchard to tow her car back to the gas station and replace her busted tire. Klaus had offered just to purchase it and go back himself but the guy, who seemed way past retirement age, had insisted and refused to relinquish the tire otherwise. Klaus knew it was all a money making exercise but didn't argue. Given the size of the town they probably didn't get much business as it was.
So, here they were. Caroline moaning over twizzlers and him trying to ignore just how much it was affecting his resolve.
Crab Orchard was only a couple hours out of Nashville and it would have been so easy to keep driving and deliver her directly to Lucien's agent at the airport who would personally escort her back to New York. But something stopped him.
Yes, she was beautiful. He thought so when he saw her picture and then when he pulled up alongside her on the road but after talking to her, Klaus was incredibly intrigued. And he wanted to know everything about her.
He knew he had places to be, his siblings hadn't stopped reminding him as evidenced by numerous texts and his recent call while she was using the bathroom and buying a year's worth of snacks inside the tiny gas station.
"So, what do you think the Wicked Witch of the West wants?"
"Hello to you too, Kol."
"Don't tell me you're buying into Rebekah's drivel about the urgent need for this family reunion and down south of all places?"
"Of course, not," he shot back, thinking this was no doubt one of Rebekah's usual attempts to make herself the centre of the universe, not that she had to try all that hard. "You know I like to keep my family time to an absolute minimum."
"I'll pretend we're still talking about sister dear," he drawled sarcastically. "I don't know why I had to leave Chicago in such a hurry, we can't all have broomsticks to ferry us from place to place on a whim." Klaus had to fight the urge to laugh. Kol, albeit the epitome of an annoying, younger sibling, always had that keen ability to hit the nail right on its head.
"I suppose we'll find out in just under a week," he sighed, wondering how much longer Caroline would occupy his time before that. "Have you spoken to Elijah and Henrik?"
"You know how Elijah bores me, Niklaus," he replied knowingly. "Henrik is on his way from Florida with a girlfriend, Lizzie someone."
"Can't say I'm surprised that he's the only one with a girlfriend." Klaus and Kol liked to joke that Elijah should have been in the priesthood; his love life was that stagnant.
"And how about you?"
"How about me what?"
"How about your girlfriend, Hayley isn't it?"
"She's not my girlfriend, never was," he growled, probably a little too fiercely given his brother's response.
"Wow, message received," he laughed. "Although, does she know that? Because last time I visited she was being extremely girlfriend-like."
"I never asked her to be," he grumbled. "It was casual, nothing else, and for the record she knew that, well apparently." For some reason it was his bail skip that came to mind at that very moment and not his ex-girlfriend, or whatever she was. He didn't want to analyse why either.
"So, Lucien tells me he has you on assignment in Tennessee?" Klaus wanted to admonish his younger brother then and there for the job but for some reason he wasn't altogether upset anymore since meeting Caroline.
"Yeah, just have to apprehend this skip and send her back to the City," he murmured, thinking that wasn't what he wanted to do with her at all. "Piece of cake," he lied.
"Well, I'll let you get back to your bounty hunting," he teased. "Don't be too hard on the poor girl, whoever she is."
"I'll try," he muttered, disconnecting the call before she proceeded to tempt him with twizzlers.
"So, it looks like we don't have the right tire for this particular, vintage model," their great-grandfather of a mechanic explained.
"But, George, you said…"
"I said I'd look at it first before making any assessment," the geriatric swindler not dissimilar to one of his distant relatives interrupted. "I can have something first thing tomorrow."
Klaus stifled the urge to roll his eyes. It would be cheaper and much quicker for him to travel to Nashville and back with a new tire. But then Klaus realised that meant less time together and given he needed to gain her trust that wouldn't work.
"And where would we stay?" Caroline asked, impatiently tapping her heel on the ground. Clearly this was messing with her plans and Klaus wasn't altogether unhappy with the development, purely for bounty hunter purposes of course.
"My wife Eileen runs the cutest bed and breakfast just down the road, she'll give you a good deal." Given George's price gouging tactics, Klaus highly doubted that. "And my brother Jack runs the local bar, best beer and steak in three counties."
Of course he did but Klaus wasn't going to complain. As they made their way towards his car, Caroline nudged him playfully.
"Bed and Breakfast? How utterly quaint and romantic, just don't get any ideas, mister."
"I can't help that we are responsible for propping up the economy of this town and all of George's family."
"Well, I suppose with great power comes great responsibility," she joked. "And given we're stuck here together, the name is Caroline."
Even though he knew that from her file, Klaus had to admit her telling him felt nice. Klaus had no idea what she was doing to him but he wasn't complaining. Besides, what harm would one extra night do?
Lots as Klaus was about to find out.

Eight Days a Week, Eight Seconds a Kiss (Part 10/Epilogue 2)  (Colt x MC)
A/N: Happy Birthday, Des @ desireepow-1986. Wingman Colt is the story that won’t die! Originally, there were only supposed to be 2 epilogues but I realized I needed another to set up the actual last one so here you go!
Length: ~1600 words
Rating: PG-13 (drunken antics, swearing)
Six Years Later: Pushing Our Luck, Getting Wiped Out
She didn’t step off the curb. She didn’t fall either, because that would have been embarrassing. Instead, the curb moved, warping underneath her foggy eyes, and her feet were already having a hard time on flat pavement anyway, so, when the curb shifted, so did she, falling into Riya as they collapsed together into a pool of limbs and uproarious laughter under the streetlights.
“Oh my God, Ellie!” Riya squirmed under her, and it took a full minute for Ellie to stop laughing and clamber up. “I’m gossiping here.”
She slurred the words. Riya was drunk as she was, so they both had a hard time standing. “I know, I’m sorry, just-the curb jumped!”
“Oh my God.” They linked arms and wandered away from the club, listing as they walked, and Riya continued her story. “So, anyway, my old roommate thought she was dating this guy for a year, a whole freaking year, and it turned out they were in a situationship and he was sleeping with half of Detroit!”
“Oh no- wait, what’s a situationship?”
“Oh, Ellie…” Riya stopped to pull out her phone and check on her ride. “You are so- it’s when a guy doesn’t ask you to be his girlfriend but lets you assume he is while he’s dating other people too.”
“Oh, that sucks. It’s a good thing you don’t have to worry about that; you and Darius have been together forever.”
“I know,” Riya sighed dreamily.
Ellie was looking at her phone, tracking how far away her own ride was, when her heart fell. Colt had never asked her to be his girlfriend. They finally finally kissed and, after that, had been inseparable as she finished senior year; since she moved back to LA after school, it seemed like everything had continued normally, just as it had been before. They spent so much time together that Ellie had assumed that… but what if…? “Riya?” She looked up from her phone in a panic. “Riya, am I in a situationship?”
“What?”
She grabbed Riya’s arm. “Colt never really asked me to be his girlfriend. Not even when I was in high school! Riya, Riya, what if-”
“But-”
“I mean, he made some vague comment to Toby that we were together but he never really asked…”
“Ellie, I don’t-”
“What if I’m in a situationship?!?” Her wail was cut off as her cell phone vibrated and she realized that they were right next to a gray Ford Focus. Or a Nissan something or other? For someone with a penchant for luxury cars, she had always been awful at differentiating one sedan from another, especially after she and Riya polished off far too many glasses of rosé at their biweekly girl’s nights. And maybe the car was black. Actually, it was so dark that maybe it was maroon, but it didn’t matter anyway because the license plates matched and she had to get in. “I have to go.”
“Ellie, wait-” Riya stuttered, looking up at her with confused eyes.
“Text me when you get home, ok?”
“I will.”
Ellie shut the door and waved, taking in her best friend’s worried expression, one that she was sure was echoed on her own face. The entire ride home, she picked at her fingernails and panicked. Had he played her for a fool this entire time? When the Dryve finally pulled up in front of the apartment, she stumbled out and up the stairs, legs moving quickly, both the anxiety and desire to outrun the spinning hallways making her hustle.
“Colt?!?” she yelled as she flew through the door, ignoring the crash as she dropped her purse to the floor. She heard everything tumble out, wallet and keys spilling across the room, but ignored it in her shuffle to the bedroom. She would clean it up tomorrow; this was more important. “Colt!”
The door slammed open as she rushed in, skidding to a stop at the foot of the bed.
“What?”
“Colt!” She collapsed, pitching herself forward so she could crawl to his side. He was still half-asleep, eyes dazed as he blinked and hair sticking up in pointed tufts around his face. “Whoa. You look like an anime.”
“What the…?” He pushed up on his elbows, still out of it. “What time is it?”
Her brain started again, and she recalled what she had been thinking as tears spring anew to her eyes. “Colt,” she started and, to her embarrassment, broke into sobs.
“Hey…” He was awake now, eyes flashing across her face, wild and frantic; he got this expression on his face every time Ellie burst into tears: it was a cross between a desperate need to make it stop and an absolute astonishment that he, he who has hatched plans to steal cars and kill cops and a million other precise schemes, that he, of all people, cannot immediately conjure a plan that will soothe whatever ails her. That look was on his face as he realized that she was rapidly becoming a sobbing mess.
“Colt---” she hiccuped and words were painful through her dry, worried throat. “Are we in a situationship?”
“What?” He shifted closer so he could reach her, fingers gentle as they slid down her arm. “Are you ok?”
“Are we-” She had to wipe her cheeks; moisture was blurring his face, turning him into a mirage, twisting and turning on the bed in front of her. Was he moving or was it the wine? “Are we in a situationship?”
“What in the world is a…are you drunk?!?”
“No.” She hiccuped again and then burst into hysterics. “It’s just that Riya was talking about this girl from school and she thought she was dating someone but then we tripped over the curb and I might have left my phone in the Dryve.”
He said nothing at first, only gaped at her before hesitantly speaking. “I think you should-”
“Are we in a situationship?!? Why won’t you answer me!!!”
“What the hell is a situationship?”
“It’s when you think you’re in a relationship but it’s actually not, you’re just hooking up with me and I’m not actually your girlfriend.”
“Ellie, for Christ’s sake…” he muttered.
“You never asked me to be your girlfriend!”
“Ellie, we live together.”
Her wail got caught in her throat, and her shoulders dropped as she peers at him. “Oh.” He had a point. “But you never asked-”
“Ellie.” He cradled her cheeks with both hands. “You smell like you fell in a vat of rosé and drank your way out. You’re drunk. You’re drunk as fuck and you’re not gonna remember this conversation tomorrow. And that’s the only reason I’m gonna tell you this.”
“Tell me what?”
“I’m not gonna ask you to be my girlfriend.”
“You’re not?” Her heart broke; she could hear the shattering sound in her chest and, if her limbs weren’t so heavy, she would walk out the door of their apartment and head straight to Riya’s where she could self-medicate her mortification with even more rosé and her best friend.
“No. I’m gonna ask you to be my wife.”
Her mouth fell open, and she had to sniff back even more tears. “You are?”
“Uh huh.”
“Like right now?”
“Dear God, not right now,” he chuckled. “You wouldn’t remember, anyway.”
“But like…” Her body wasn’t working; she could think of words, lots of them, but they were failing to make their way to her mouth. “You’re gonna...wait. Do you have a ring?”
He only smirked. “If I gave it to you now, you’d lose it.”
“Colt?”
“Yeah?”
She sat back on her heels to study him, and even that simple movement made the room spin. “We’re not in a situationship, are we?”
“No, Ellie. No, we’re not.”
“Oh.”
“Can we please go to sleep now?”
She nodded, subdued and mollified, breaking into a dumb smile aided by the copious amount of alcohol in her veins. “Ok.” She watched him settle into bed before she headed to the bathroom, hands shaky, dragging on her pajamas over leaden feet. And even though she walked into her bureau, she couldn’t stop the smile from splitting her face.
She had just slid next to him, sheets cool on her overheated skin, when the alcohol compeled her to speak again. “You wanna marry me…”
“I can’t really tell you why at this very second.”
“It’s cuz you loooove me.”
“I would love you a lot more if you just let me sleep.”
She settled her head on the pillow and giggled, bright and happy in the darkness of their bedroom.
“Ellie!”
“Sorry, sorry.” She made it five seconds before the giggles started again, her drunken happiness making her way through her warm cheeks.
“Ellie!” He rolled over to glare at her, but the smile tugging at the corner of his lips rendered the effort at intimidation ineffective.
“You love me!”
He rolled his eyes but responded to her baiting, anyway. “Yes. Yes, I love you.”
“Even when I’m drunk.”
“Even when you’re drunk.”
“Even when I think we’re in a situationship.”
“Even when you make up terms for scenarios that make no sense,” he murmured with a shake of his head.
“Even when I tear apart this apartment looking for the ring.”
“Even- wait, what?”
She smiled, burrowing into his arms. “Imma find it.”
“You won’t.”
“I will.” She was warm, content, eyes slowly opening and closing against his chest. “I will. I swear.”
But, despite her fervent promises, the only thing she remembered when she woke up the next morning, through her throbbing head and roiling stomach, was that she felt very, very loved.

Finally! It took longer than expexted but here it is-A CAOS PROFILE STUDY: FAUSTUS BLACKWOOD  Part  2
SABRINA-As the title character of the series, Sabrina is set up as a hero but in the mind of Faustus Blackwood, Sabrina Spellman is anything but. As  Edward’s daughter with Diana, Sabrina is a half-witch/half-mortal and therefore in Blackwood’s mind shouldn’t even exist. Sabrina is a living, breathing reminder that Edward broke witch law. Yet he is the current high priest and he has his orders from the dark lord to aid Lilith to get Sabrina to her dark baptism and into the school. When Sabrina flees her baptism, Blackwood senses that Sabrina is a rulebreaker (like Edward) and a troublemaker. And as time goes on, Sabrina is constantly questioning what other students just accept, being sent to Blackwood’s office daily. Even Sabrina admits that she always breaking the rules. And it’s not even just at school. Sabrina shows up on Faustus’s wedding day just to stop the marriage. One of the rare battles Sabrina didn’t win. Make no mistake, Faustus would kill Sabrina the first chance he got, if it wasn’t for the dark lord, Lilith and Zelda. At the start of the  show or perhaps even earlier, the   dark lord  orders that Blackwood not to hurt or kill Sabrina and Lilith are around (much to his annoyance) to make sure he tows the line. Plus, he knows how much Zelda loves her niece and Faustus wants a relationship with Zelda so it’s not in his best self-interest to kill Sabrina. But this girl just keeps pushing him and pushing him. Finally, in the middle of season 2, with Lilith distracted by Adam and Zelda, is his and in step ford mode and once Blackwood hears that Sabrina had powers that no witch should have, he decides to burn her but oops, he forgot about the dark lord. Now Blackwood has to back off Sabrina. The final break between Faustus and the dark lord comes when Faustus is asked to bow down to Sabrina, a half-mortal as queen. This is something Blackwood would never do! Bottom line: Sabrina is the Spellman that won’t get out of Faustus Blackwood’s face.
AMBROSE & PRUDENCE: First off, I know that Prudence is not a Spellman but I grouped her in with Ambrose because the way Blackwood uses them is the same, they’re both pawns only on opposite sides. Let’s start with Ambrose. As the only male Spellman, Ambrose can go into Blackwood’s secret club, where his cousin and aunts can’t go. By freeing Ambrose from his house arrest, Blackwood is ensuring Ambrose’s loyalty to him and he is also stacking the deck for the long term. This ploy is underhanded, yes, but it’s smart. Ambrose gets in deeper and deeper and when Luke dies, Ambrose replaces him in  Blackwood’s club, just in time for the anti-pope’s visit. Knowing he was a  big fan of Edward and would favor Edward’s work over his, and possibly the same one who pardoned Edward’s marriage to Diana, Blackwood kills the anti-pope by controlling Ambrose, who teleports himself away but shows up later and attacks Blackwood in a room full of witnesses, getting himself locked in a cell and almost killed. While Ambrose is used as a puppet, Prudence is used as an ally and somewhat of an enforcer. Again, Blackwood gains loyalty by giving the person what they want most. What Prudence wants is a family and, interestingly, it takes almost killing her father for Prudence to finally gain the Blackwood name.  Faustus Blackwood is a master manipulator. He’s very good at knowing what people want and withholding it until he needs something. Remember, when Blackwood gives Prudence the name, Ambrose is still on the run, this makes him a loose end because he knows who really kills the anti-pope. Prudence is not stupid but she has lived her entire life as an orphan, being given her family name and being called daughter is her dream come true. For Faustus, the timing is perfect-she protects her father when Ambrose shows up to kill him. (SIDE NOTE: when you try to  kill someone; sneaking up on them-good; yelling DIE DIE-bad) However, Prudence's absolute loyalty to her father blinds her to the people who really care about her: her true family is the weird sisters, they would kill for her and she would kill for them, even her budding friendship with Sabrina. When Prudence starts to doubt, her father soothes her with a kiss. Prudence is rare on the show in that she realizes on her own that by being with her father, she’s realized that she‘s on the wrong side. Prudence then begins her own redemption by freeing Zelda and gets her sisters to the Spellmans to heal them.
HILDA-I love Hilda. But even Hilda says herself that people overlook her. Blackwood sadly is one of them. Even when the height  of madness and his bid to destroy the Spellmans, Faustus does not give Hilda a second thought.
ZELDA-Lastly, we come to the most complex and most important relationship Faustus Blackwood has with a Spellman. What I love about the start of this show is we don’t know the characters but they know each other. Harvey and Sabrina don’t meet in the pilot, they’re already dating.  In episode 3, Faustus and Zelda share their 1st  scene alone together and it quickly becomes clear that these 2 have a past. Meeting Zelda Spellman must have shaken Faustus Blackwood’s beliefs to the core. Why? Because all his life, Blackwood has been raised to believe that witches (women) are less than warlocks (men).  Zelda is powerful, beautiful, intelligent and devout, his equal in every single way. This is the type of woman that should disgust him but it has the opposite effect. Faustus is drawn to her. At first, perhaps, he thinks he’s in lust. Faustus knows that to get rid of lust is to bed the object of your desire once or twice. So, with this in mind, young Faustus and Zelda begin their courtship. Except, maybe for the 1st time in his life, Faustus never tires of Zelda, in fact, Blackwood falls hopelessly in love with Zelda. So much so that he wants to bring into his life forever, he wants to marry her, yet Edward objects. I’ve already spoken in-depth about Edward and why I believed Blackwood married Constance in part 1 (go read it, if you haven’t yet) so I’m going to skip ahead a bit. Stuck working for a man he’s growing to hate and trapped in a marriage he never wanted, Blackwood is growing bitter and resentful. He also missing Zelda terribly but when Zelda returns, it’s torture for Faustus. Perhaps, Edward was hoping that marriage to another woman would break Faustus’s bond with Zelda but it doesn’t. The marriage between Faustus and Constance should have worked, the witch seems submissive to her husband. Not minding his demand for a male heir and even looking for his permission before eating at the Spellman dinner party during the Feast of Feasts. But the heart, right or wrong, wants what it wants. Faustus Blackwood’s heart only wants Zelda Spellman. Hilda says that Constance and Zelda always got along. This is not surprising, these 2 women are part of the same church and the same coven. Plus Constance is married to someone that Zelda considers an old friend, they’re not aware that Faustus is still completely in love with Zelda. The 2  women are not best friends but they’re on good terms. As years go by, Constance only fails in Faustus’s eyes by repeatedly miscarrying their children and by contrast is Zelda’s brilliant career as a mid-wife and the fact that she has never lost a baby during delivery. By the time the show starts, I believe that Faustus is obsessed with Zelda. He HAS  to be near her.  Yes, she the one that goes to him to talk with Sabrina’s day in court but he leaves his chair to walk closer to her, he reaches for her hand, he strokes her hair and kisses her brow. Yes, Zelda seems to enjoy his attention but he makes the first move. Later, Faustus uses her wife’s latest pregnancy to bring Zelda even closer to him, by asking her to be Constance’s midwife even if Zelda hasn’t practiced in years. Things shifts on the night that Blackwood comes to the house to lift Ambrose’s house arrest. Note that Blackwood is almost at the door before Zelda stops him. Blackwood did NOT come to see Zelda tonight so the following scene is not part of his master plan for once. At first, it’s a high priest hearing a confession. As their conversation continues, it grows more and more private and intimate until they whisper each other’s names and kiss deeply. I must confess, I love this scene. This could be the only time that Faustus is not plotting, he’s just reacting. He doesn’t lift Zelda up to him, he slides down to her. At that moment, Faustus is not a sexiest or a high priest, he’s just a man dying to be in Zelda’s arms. Even the way he holds Zelda as the kiss deepens, I  got the feeling that if  Zelda breaks the kiss, Faustus will still be holding Zelda close. When she doesn’t pull away, his hands go to her face. Twice, he pulls away, just to look at Zelda’s face, as if he’s trying to decide if this real or a dream. It’s implied that Faustus and  Zelda make love that night and it’s bliss for both. Zelda is so affected that she can barely focus on Hilda is saying to her. Faustus can be more focus.  He talks with Ambrose and pulls away when Zelda tries to kiss him but only because he shares a sexual fantasy with her. He even asks her how it sounds to her meaning that Blackwood does want Zelda to submit to him sexually, but only if she wants to do so willingly. She does and their affair goes on hot and heavy. Does Blackwood feel guilty for cheating on his pregnant wife? Nope. 2 reasons for this; Constance herself admits that Faustus is a slut and, in his own mind, he was always supposed to end up with Zelda anyway. During their next romp, Blackwood says he misses the old days where everyone slept with everyone but all Zelda does is casually mention that she prefers 1 partner and that’s it, it is possible that Blackwood never again even looks at another woman. He even sounds bored while introduces the stripper to the schoolboys in Greys.  In other words, he may be married to Constance, but he’s only faithful to Zelda. He also asks her the be the twins’ night mother and to take over Constance’s classes at the academy. It’s like  Blackwood is slowly trying to replace Constance with Zelda. During the storm, Luke teleports Ambrose to the school and away from his family because he loves him. Faustus does the exact same thing with Zelda just 1 scene before. True, he explains that Constance is in labor but when Zelda appears, his hand is on her hip. So, Zelda delivers the twins and Constance dies. At no point does Blackwood show any grief for the wife he never wanted.  He could even be happy this happened. After all, with both Edward and Constance dead, his long-ago dream of marrying Zelda is suddenly back on the table. By part 2, Faustus has talked Zelda into returning to teaching full-time, so she’s part of his life daily. The fact that only Zelda can quiet his crying son enforces to Blackwood that he’s doing the right thing. Yet he slips up when Zelda asks for clarity in their relationship and he is more worried about how the public will see it since he’s still supposed to be in mourning.  Annoyed, Zelda breaks off their sexual affair. However, the attraction remains. Be it looking at each other at the play, chatting at Gray’s, post-play or making out in the woods during the hunt. It is during Luperella, that Faustus proposes to Zelda. She is stunned, she just wanted to know where they were going as a couple, he’s not only ready to go public, he’s ready for forever. Zelda accepts for  power (which I don’t believe  but that for another essay) but Faustus’s motive for marrying Zelda is more unclear. He tells the weird sisters that the Spellmans are in his thrall but come on, we’ve all seen Faustus enthralled by Zelda. Reasons aside, the night before the wedding, Faustus tells baby Judas that tonight there will be blood and tomorrow there will be glory. The ‘blood’ is obviously the murder of the anti-pope and the ‘glory’ is his marriage to Zelda. As soon as dawn comes, Faustus is determined that today is THE day he will make Zelda his wife and nothing- not the death of the witch pope, not Sabrina and Nick’s glamours, not even Ambrose’s attack on him will stop him. For once, he’s right. He marries Zelda, not in the original church wedding they planned but in the privacy of his office, away from the other Spellmans. Once they are in Rome, on their honeymoon, Faustus gave Zelda a music box as a wedding gift, but he enchanted it with the Caligari spell. Zelda tells Hilda that she got it on their first night in Italy, not their wedding night, (but it could have been the same thing) making me believe that Faustus wanted a willing bride on their first night, just as Zelda married him of her own will. Why did he do this? The simple answer is that he wants a submissive now that they’re married. I don’t think so. After all, he has always been attracted to her and she has always been a strong woman.  I believed he uses the Caligari spell for a different reason. Blackwood, once he returns to Greendale, will start on his mission of destroying the Spellmans. We all know that Zelda’s first loyalty will always be to her family, no matter who she is married to. The spell could be a way to sidetrack the powerful Spellman witch. It also possible that once he had dealt with Ambrose and Sabrina, Blackwood was planned to taking off the spell himself. Even after they marry, there is proof that Faustus truly loves Zelda. After their marriage, Faustus wears a wedding ring, something he never did while married to Constance. From his wedding day to the end of season 2,  he is never seen without the ring. The strongest proof of Faustus’s love is that he never tries to kill Zelda. He could have twice.  Once when they were in Rome, when there were no other Spellman family members around and again when he discovers that Zelda stole his daughter. Even in her cell, Faustus gives his wife a small kindness, a chair to sit in.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I get why Faustus Blackwood is hated.  I get why he is liked. Personally, I like him. I never heard of Richard Coyle before this but I think he is doing a superb job. Some people think that Blackwood should be killed off but I think that would be a shame. As a villain, Blackwood is much more than ‘a monster of the week’ as he has several relationships with a lot of other characters. He’s the father of one and husband to another. I’m not against a redemption arc for him but even I know he has a long way to go. Whatever fate awaits Faustus Blackwood, we can all watch it play out when Part 3 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina drops on Jan. 24, 2020.

star wars Thoughts at 4 am
ok so rise of skywalker happened,,, and i have mixed feelings. i didn’t hate it but i didn’t love it either (and i usually love star wars movies), so i am in desperate need of a little rant about both the good and the bad in the conclusion of the saga
DISLIKE
1. JJ ABRAMS DISREGARDING ALL OF THE DEVELOPMENT WE EXPERIENCED DURING LAST JEDI. this is what i am most upset about. you don’t have to like tlj, but you can’t pretend it never happened. it’s like he was trying to completely backtrack on everything that happened in tlj bc it was ~his~ vision for the franchise. i think that is disrespectful to not only rian, but to fans who grew attached to the development of the characters. we see finn revert back to first movie finn (lovesick puppy lowkey), rey become an invincible child of the sith, the end of the skywalker family line, complete abandonment of rose, and a total shift in the message of the trilogy. all jammed last second into the film. the next few points all have to do w this
2. the fact that in tlj it is revealed that rey is truly nobody- she’s not some all-powerful descendant or some with royal blood- and tros completely ignores this and makes her a palpatine. the whole point before was that she’s normal, but that doesn’t make her any less powerful, smart, or strong. the message from the first two movies was that you don’t have to be in these elite categories to be special and powerful, which is an important message to every single child and adult watching. it empowers us as viewers to believe that we have the capability to be great, no matter our status, birth name, ethnicity, class, or where we are from. you can find family when you have none. you have the power to change your life. when jj decide LAST SECOND to make her a palpatine, with no clues thrown into the first two movies to lead us to believe this, it feels like a joke. the rey we had come to sympathize with is suddenly an all-powerful sith, seeming stronger than even anakin and yoda, even though she had never even completed training. this reveal is not emotional and literally loses respect rather than gaining any from the audience. a cop out. i felt less emotionally attached to rey than in the previous two films bc of her sheer perfect power
3. rose being 100% sidelined even though her character was incredible in last jedi. her arc was one that i truly couldn’t wait to see finish and sadly we never got it because she was completely abandoned so it could just be a trio once more. i love her. the disrespect.
4. the sudden introduction of zorri just so that poe has someone to flirt with??? like if you wanted to prove he was heterosexual make him flirt w someone he has actual on screen history and chemistry with, like uhhhh idk? rey?????? dont get me wrong tho she is a badass and i love how she shuts poe down!! queen
5. how they throw it in there that finn is force sensitive but don’t fully explain it?? and he never even tells rey??? this is SUCH a cool concept yet it’s never even hinted at until the third movie and its not further developed as to why. likewise i wish we saw the stormtroopers before they left the first order. see what they dealt with and the abuse they endured bc it’s such an important facet of the trilogy and literally drives finns character
6. how we never touch on why poe felt it when rey was tortured?
7. i wish leia hadn’t died and she rallied support w lando
8. if they are a dyad why didn’t rey and ben fight palpatine together?? then no one would have died??
9. i’m just really sad that they chose to kill ben because even though rey takes their name, the skywalker bloodline is gone, while a palpatine lives on. the entire purpose of the first six movies is anakin bringing balance by defeating palpatine. somehow, palpatine survived this (never explained!!!!), which completely defeated the purpose of the first six films and strips anakins chosen one status and ultimate sacrifice of any true importance. in the end of tros, the palpatine bloodline lives on while the skywalker bloodline is gone, and i can’t help but to feel like that contradicts the theme of the original saga in which the skywalkers defeat palpatine and hope lives on.
10. lastly, i just don’t think george lucas would have wanted ben to die. when people kill off main characters to make the movie more emotional, he has literally said “i don’t like that and i don’t believe that” he goes on to say that he hates when main characters are killed, stating “the whole point of the film, the whole emotion that i am trying to get at the end of the film, is for you to be real uplifted, emotionally and spiritually, and feel absolutely good about life. that is the greatest thing we could ever possibly do.” so, i’m sure some of you could see why i have a little issue with killing someone who has finally recognized the error of their ways and wants to be better. yes, he has done awful things that cannot be separated from his new identity as ben, but i think that it would have been even more impactful to make him live with the crimes he has committed and still make him keep fighting his demons to join his legacy on the light side. overall, bens death left a sour taste in my mouth, and for that reason i don’t walk out feeling uplifted. i just wish i knew what george lucas is thinking right now.
LIKE
1. ben solo’s arc and han. now, before some of you pop off at me, i still think he was awful and horrible and didn’t deserve instant forgiveness, but i also think that someone who has grown up his entire life being treated like the spawn of satan by all adults who are supposed to love him would fuck him up majorly, like it would to anyone else in that situation. i think that he deserved another chance at experiencing love and happiness, and i absolutely adored the scene with him and han solo. it was honestly one of the best parts of the whole movie. thank you harrison ford. the whole “i don’t think i’m strong enough” and him tearing up to his dad CUT DEEP. AND THE “dad-“ “i know” LIKE LITERALLY MY HEART. bringing back the “i love you” “i know” so they are LITERALLY TELLING EACH OTHER THEY LOVE EACH OTHER!!! i’m at peace. adam driver’s acting was absolutely phenomenal. so much respect for him. truly incredible.
2. i loved poe and rey’s bickering. lowkey thought it built some chemistry between them. and how poe seemed quite jealous that finn knew stuff about rey that he didn’t, literally asking him more than once (1nce) about it, like???? han leia vibes. tea. but also poe and finn
3. i really liked jannah SOOO much (and i usually am not one for introducing a character so late) but, like i explained in detail above, i wish they had built that backstory better and introduced her a little bit sooner with more screen time. but i loved her and finns connection and understanding of their trauma.
4. FINN AND POE BEING THE CUTEST HUMANS EVER. that’s all. i just love how they care so very much about each other like stop. cogenerals.
5. ALL THE JEDI VOICES WERE SO FREAKING COOL. CHILLS.
6. i honestly think that’s all. i don’t have anything more
7. OH WAIT HUX BEING THE SPY. i ate that shit up. yes. we stan. AND the hint that he was going along w poe’s phone call in tlj so that the resistance could escape (that’s how poe KNEW it) like YES
8. the animation of young luke and leia made my heart weep
9. that lil sketchy bitch babu and the new cone droid that talks,, mmm
10. OH THAT THE FORCE BOND LETS THEM TRANSMIT OBJECTS THRU IT LIKE THE VADER MASK SCENE WAS ICONIC
11. this is so sad that i am putting this in my “like” parts but the fact that they didn’t kill chewie and that they showed him being so torn up about leias death
12. OH AND CHEWIE GETTING HIS MEDAL THAT WAS SO HYPE
13. rey burying the skywalker lightsabers and looking into the sunset, perfectly tying back to luke doing the same 42 years ago
overall, if i don’t think too hard, i did like it and felt kind of at peace. BUT it could’ve been much better @ JJ :/ i feel like it didn’t do the saga justice as the “conclusion of the saga” bc there is still so much left unanswered. but, like i said, i did enjoy it a lot and have so much love for this world. rant over. i love u star wars. thank u for everything. <3

“Why are you doing this Dean? Don’t push me away. I love you and I can’t be without you!”
“I don’t love you anymore. We need to part ways for the sake of us. Good thing our marriage ain’t legal so we don’t have to pay the divorce,” Dean says and your heart breaks.
“Dean, please. I need to tell you something. Maybe this will change your mind.”
“Nothing will make me love you. Nothing.” Dean yells and you flinch.
“Okay, If you want me to leave…then I’ll leave.” You whisper.
“Good, I wait in the garage till you packed your stuff,” Dean adds before leaving the room.
---
Grabbing your few belongings as fast as possible you let the tears fall. Hours ago, you were so happy and now your life is a wreck.
“Hey, I heard Dean yelling. Is everything alright? Did you already tell him?” Mary asks softly.
Shaking your head, you remain silent. Only your sobs can be heard.
“He said I have to leave. That he doesn’t love me anymore. I tried to tell him about the baby but he said nothing will change his mind.”
“What? Seriously? This can’t be,” feeling her heart break Mary hugs you tight.
“He said I have to leave and that he doesn’t love me anymore. Maybe he never loved me, Mary. I don’t know what to think or feel right now. All I know is that I want to get out of here right now. I don’t want to see him ever again. I’m going to stay at Bobby’s place. Tell Sam and Cas I’m sorry but I can’t wait for their return, Mary.”
“I can’t let you go. You are like the daughter I never had to me. You will have my grandchild. How can he be so stupid?”
“I don’t want to know. Maybe he found someone better. I will go now. You can call me anytime.” You whisper.
Mary is slinging an arm around your shoulders while you slowly walk into the garage the get to your car. Dean is already waiting. Tapping his foot he opens the door to the passenger seat of the Impala for you.
Ignoring his whole existence, you open the trunk to your old, barely drivable Ford. He will at least drive you safe to Bobby’s house. After that, you can ask Bobby for help to repair your old lady.
“You can call me any time. I will keep you and Sam up-to-date about…you know what I mean. Don’t tell him. I don’t want his pity. Let him find someone better than me. I was obviously not enough.” You whisper before hugging Mary tight.
-----
“When Sam is back I will leave the bunker for a while. You wanted us to be a family. I came here to have a family, including Y/N. Whatever your reason is to break her, you will regret this for the rest of your life. I will tell Sam what you did to her.” Mary grunts before entering her car to drive around for a while.
-----
Around seven months later…
“I’m really not in the mood for a family dinner, Bobby.” You sigh.
“Come on, kiddo. You can’t hide the whole time. Jody cooked like insane the last hours. Sam and Mary will come around too, just like Claire and Donna.
Even Castiel said he might show up. He won’t eat but he wants to check on the baby.”
“Why? Did he say something's wrong with my baby?”
“No, no. I told him about your morning sickness. That it was worse the last week.”
“Oh, good. That’s good.”
“Hey, Sam and Mary are happy to see you. You know they have to sneak out of the bunker to visit you and the bump…” Bobby chuckles.
“Don’t call her ‘the bump’!” You scold.
“I know. Now wear a nice dress and we can drive to Jody’s place to have a bit of fun. You deserve a bit of fun. Some time to relax after…”
“Fine. Give me half an hour…”
----
“Look who came around to pick you up, kiddo!” Bobby says smiling.
“Sammy! Hey, how are you? Is Mary here too?”
“Whoa…the little girl has grown again I guess. Good to see you, Y/N. Mary is at Jody’s to help her with the dessert. The girls arrived too and even Castiel popped up some minutes ago.”
“Great you were able to sneak out, again.” Hugging the tall hunter tight you don’t see the worried look on his face.
“Dean is slowly getting suspicious,” Sam sighs.
“Huh? About what?”
“Mom’s and mine absence.”
“Then tell him you visit a friend. It’s the truth! He kicked me out of his life not out of yours or Mary’s.” You mutter.
“Alright, I need to get the beverages for Jody. You two can drive ahead.” Bobby says and you nod.
“Let’s go, Sammy! I want to see Mary and the girls…and Castiel!”
------
“What are you doing here!” Claire yells.
“It’s a family dinner! I’m family if I recall right!” Dean grunts.
“You are not invited. Not after what you did to Y/N, kicking her out! Leaving her alone with…”
“With what?” Dean mutters.
“With nothing. Right Claire?” Jody warns.
“Where’s Sam? Wasn’t he with you mom?” Dean asks.
“He has somewhere else to be to pick someone up.”
------
“Hmm…I’m hungry.” You sigh when you walk toward Jody’s house.
“You will get food soon. Jody prepared enough food for fifty people,” Sam chuckles.
Slinging an arm around your shoulders he walks you into Jody's house. After a soft knock, the door opens and you meet a worried looking Mary.
“Mary, good to see you. Look the little girl has grown fast and she already kicks like her grandma. She will be a whirlwind I guess,” you say smiling but Mary just looks like someone shot her puppy.
“What’s wrong mom?” Sam asks.
“What’s wrong? We have a family dinner and I’m not invited and then you come around with my wife!” Dean yells.
When Mary steps aside to let you and Sam in Dean’s eyes widen. He can see your baby bump and you try to hide in Sam’s arms.
“Your wife? You made her leave. You kicked her out of your life! This is our family. What’s left of it thanks to you. We had to sneak out so Sam and I can visit my daughter in law. You might have crossed her out of your life. We didn’t. I love her like a daughter, Dean.”
“She’s pregnant? And you didn’t tell me? You two…no all of you were hiding this from me? You were hiding my baby from me? You two are unbelievable! Hiding my baby from me! How long did you two intend on hiding this from me? Until you can take my place, Sammy? Huh? Is that what you want?” Dean yells and you lose.
“YOU WANTED ME GONE! YOU! You let me go! No one else made me leave. I told you I must tell you something important. I almost begged you to let me tell you about the baby! You kicked me out and never tried to contact me. You didn’t even care where I sleep! Sam and Mary helped me the whole time! You left me alone and now you yell at the only people helping me for the last seven months? What did you expect? That Mary or Sam break their promise? The promise I asked them to keep? You wanted me gone. No one else! This is your fault! Not Sam’s, not Marys or anyone else’s.”
“I didn’t know you are pregnant.”
“You said nothing would change your mind. Nothing could make you love me. So leave Jody’s house and leave me alone. That’s your specialty. I hate you! Go away. I don’t want ever see you again.” You sob.
“I…”
“I want to go back to Bobby’s I lost my appetite, Sam. Can you drive me back? I’m not in the mood to stay here and listen to him yelling at my family,” you sob.
“Great job, after months of hiding she finally agreed to come here to at least have a bit fun and you ruined it for her.” Sam grunts.
“Wait, I can…”
“Save it. I don’t want to hear it. You wanted me gone. I’m gone. Be happy you have no responsibility. We have never had a real marriage so you can fuck every whore you can find.” You say sadly.
Offering his arm Sam leads you out of Jody’s house. Bobby is jogging toward the entrance when he sees your sad face.
“What happened?”
“Dean happened, Bobby. He ruined the dinner for her. I’ll bring her back to your house and later I’ll bring her some food from Jody’s.”
“What’s the idjit doing here?”
“Got no clue. We didn’t invite him or told him about the dinner. He blamed us for hiding her pregnancy. Can you believe this Bobby? He made her leave and now he’s blaming us for hiding things from him.”
------
“Shall I stay with you?”
“No, Sammy. Go have dinner. I’m a bit tired. I will have a shower and grab some leftovers or order some food. Don’t tell Jody. But tell her I’m sorry for leaving. I know she put a lot of effort in preparing the dinner.”
“She will understand. I’ll check on you later, okay?”
“Okay.”
Kissing your forehead softly Sam hides the fact he will smash Dean’s face as soon as he’s back at Jody’s place. He won’t allow his brother to hurt you even more.
-----
After Sam left you decided to have a leftover party. Eating some Lasagne with peanut butter and some pickles you listen to some music…loud music to shut off your mind.
You bet Jody’s food would taste much better but you couldn’t stand there and look at him. Not after he shattered your heart into pieces.
Engrossed in smearing some peanut butter on your pickles you don’t see or hear Dean sneaking into Bobby’s house. Eyes widen he sees the rubbish you stuff into your mouth.
“That’s rubbish! Why are you eating that kind of food?”
“As you ruined the only possibility to get freshly cooked food. So I had the choice to starve or eat the leftovers.” You mutter.
Peanut butter in your hand you want to walk upstairs to call Sam or Bobby or both to tell them Dean sneaked into Bobby’s house.
“Wait, please.”
“No, I don’t need another outburst from you. Isn’t my condition worse enough? I can barely sleep; the morning sickness kills me and you ruined an evening I was looking for…for weeks I was looking forward to seeing Mary and Sam as you took the only family from me I had. Now only Bobby and Jody are left. I can’t even meet Sam or Mary. They have to sneak out to meet me.”
“I’m sorry. I just broke up with you to keep you safe. Please.”
“Keeping me safe? The bunker was the safest place for me and you kicked me out!”
“I just thought you could find someone better. Have a safe life and children.”
“Well I have a safe life and I will have my daughter but I got no one better as I only love you.” You yell storming upstairs.
“Wait…please wait up!” Dean calls after you.
Slamming the door shut you lock it to call Sam or Bobby or whoever is able to answer his phone.
“Please. Open the door, Y/N!”
“No, go away. Fuck you, Winchester!”
“Then I’ve got no other choice!” Kicking the door open Dean grins at your shocked features.
“Bobby will kick your ass! You ruined the lock. Look what you’ve done, idjit!”
“You will come back with me! Now!”
“No way.”
“You are still my wife. Pack your things, please. I’m sorry for everything. Please believe me. I was a mess the last months without you.”
“Sure. Drinking and fucking around was so hard for you.”
“I didn’t fuck anyone else. Please. I only want you.”
“Dean, you don’t want me anymore. Just leave me alone. It’s hard enough for me to live without you but seeing you makes it even harder.”
“I want you to come home. The reason I came here today was that I wanted to say I’m sorry and that I know I messed up everything but please don’t shut me out. Give me the chance to make it up to you.”
“I don’t know Dean. I mean you said you don’t love me…I can’t…” Sobbing you sit down onto your bed.
“I love you, Baby, please. I’m an idiot, I know. But please give me the chance to show you how much you really mean to me. We can be a family. You, our baby, Sammy, mom…”
Taking your hand in his large hands he kisses it softly. Head leaning against his shoulder you close your eyes.
“Uh…are you breasts bigger, Baby?”
“Of course they are bigger. I’m pregnant, Dean.”
“Shit…hmmm….”
“What?”
“Can I…uh…touch…”
“No, you little pervert! I’m still mad at you.”
“I could make you feel good…really good.”
“I don’t know if you are able to make me feel good, Winchester. I mean seven months…”
“I still know how to make you feel good.”
“I don’t think so!”
“Little devil! God, I’ve missed you.” Dean groans pushing you down onto the bed. Hovering over you he peppers kisses all over your face. Scratching your skin with his stubbles he makes you giggle.
“That tickles!”
“Hmmm…imagine how it will tickle down there, Baby.”
A cocky grin on his face he starts kissing down your neck. Scratching and bruises the soft skin he moans.
Looking up at you he rips your old flannel open. Good thing you change clothing or your dress would be history by now.
“Whoa…you are huge…” He chuckles and you pout.
“I’m seven months pregnant idjit! You are a tall guy, just like Sammy. What did you expect?”
Shoving your bra down his eyes widen. Tongue flicking around your nipples he enjoys the noises coming out of your mouth. Whimpering you feel him sucking at the sensitive nubs.
“Not so rough. They are sensitive!” You scold.
Humming he moves further down. Kissing your large baby bump, he smiles against the skin. Your fingers can no longer resist so you tug at his hair. A low growl leaves his lips when he moves one hand into your panties.
“So wet for me…god I’ve missed you, Baby.”
His fingers gently draw circles around your clit before he slides two digits into your wet heat. Circling his digits he rubs over your sweet spot.
Teeth sinking into your lower lip you close your eyes. His thumb starts adding pressure to your clit right when he brushes over your g-spot again.
A silent scream escapes your lips when you fall over the edge. Still stroking your clit Dean watches you.
“Good work. Now I’m tired,” you say.
“What…but I thought...”
“Nope, Winchester. Not a chance.” Giggling you watch his darkened face when you sit on the bed to strip your bra and flannel of. Lying down onto your pillow you turn your back toward Dean. Waiting for his reaction you can’t stop giggling.
“Baby? Please…seven months.”
“Hmmm… I don’t know Romeo…”
Hoping off the bed Dean strips his clothes off. Butt-naked he crawls onto the bed to spoon you. Hard cock poking your lower back he holds you flush against his chest.
“Baby, I need to feel you.”
“Well, you are already hard. Would be a waste. Wouldn’t it?”
“I’ve missed you. I really missed you.” He whispers in your ear.
Guiding his cock to your entrance he slowly sinks into you. A moan escapes your lips when you feel him stroking your clit.
His thrusts start slow and even. Huge cock dragging against your walls he moves one arm around your waist. Holding you as close as possible he finds the perfect rhythm.
Rolling his hips faster against your ass he whispers loving words into your ear. His index finger harshly flicks your clit when your walls tighten.
Feeling the coil snap you scream his name loud enough so Sam and Bobby can hear it downstairs.
After staring at each other mouth agape both men silently leave the house again. A few hard thrusts later Dean fills you with his seed.
“I love you, Y/N. I’m so sorry I made you leave. Please believe me I only wanted to protect you.”
“I love you too but as soon as the baby is born I will kick your sorry ass!”
“That’s my girl.”
“Not so fast! You should make it up to me first. Didn’t you say something about scratching down there?”
“Uh…are you sure?”
“Give me some food, a break and then you can get started. By the way, I think Sam and Bobby came back some time ago…you might have to explain why I screamed your name,” you giggle.
“Will you come home with me?”
“Yeah. I will come home with you Dean.”
Holding you tight against his chest Dean gently strokes your baby bump. Closing your eyes you enjoy his gentle touch. He never wanted you gone…

Talkin’ ‘Bout Star Wars
I just realized someone might see this title and think it’s a review of Episode IX, which I kind of forgot about.    Actually, I was gonna talk about this Count Dooku audiobook I bought, but I guess I only got back into Star Wars books because of Episode IX, so maybe I should back up.
I liked Rise of Skywalker.   I went in unsure of what to expect, because a lot of people hated Episode VIII, and I thought it was awesome, so when I saw scathing criticism of IX, I had no idea whether to take that seriously.    “Man if you thought VIII was bad, IX’s even worse.”  Stuff like that where I didn’t know how to interpret it.
The fundamental problem with IX is that they were going to do a Leia-centric movie and Carrie Fisher died before they could get started.    I’m pretty sure this had a lot to do with why Darth Sidious is all over the movie, but maybe he would have been in it regardless.   He definitely brings a lot of star power to the movie.    He makes it feel more important than it would have been if it was just Kylo Ren horsing around as the main bad guy.    And while I enjoyed Carrie Fisher as the hardboiled-but-sensitive General Leia, she never seemed quite as comfortable on-screen in the sequel movies as Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford.   I mean, she was in VIII, but she spent most of it in a coma, and Laura Dern seemed to be her understudy.    Maybe Carrie was just waiting for the spotlight of Episode IX, and maybe she would have risen to the occasion, but if not, they would have done well to have the Emperor in the same movie, just to carry some of the load.
I’ve seen complaints about how fast-paced Episode IX is, and how ridiculous some of the revelations are, but you know, Episode IV realllly drags for the first half-hour, so I’m happy they made a new one that caters to six-year-old me’s desire to get on with things.   As for the whole Rey Palpatine thing, I don’t know, was that any less absurd than whatever fan-theories were floating around in 2016?
I liked Rey’s character arc in this movie, where she goes from having no family to being terrified of her pedigree, to declaring herself to be “Rey Skywalker”.    Also, I dig her yellow lightsaber, even if she never got a chance to use it in the movie.   In fact, let me get a picture of that up here....
Tumblr media
Niiiice.   Whenever I look this up, I see all these links to fan theories about what this means, or how it’s a callback to eight other characters from the comics who had yellow lightsabers, but I’m pretty sure she only ended up with this color because they wanted to give her something different and uniquely her own.    If she had a blue or green blade, fans would think she took the crystal out of one of Luke’s old lightsabers, but this indicates that she built her own from scratch.   Also, Rey even having a lightsaber is probably intended to demonstrate that she still has a mission in the galaxy, even after the First Order and Sidious are defeated.
Anyway, the main issue I have with the movie is that it does play fast and loose sometimes.    It felt like they had a plan for Finn and a plan for Poe, but both plans sort of got lost in the shuffle, and we sort of have to take their big victory as newly minted generals to serve as a finish to their character arcs.    Leia’s big moment is basically her lying down to take a nap, and I get it, that was probably the best they could do, but still.    I read Nein Numb got killed in the movie, and that kind of pisses me off.
Mostly, it just doesn’t hold up as well as “The Last Jedi”.   I think part of the reason “Revenge of the Sith” is the most popular prequel movie is because it pays off the thing everyone wanted to see: Anakin becoming Darth Vader.   I remember the first time I saw “Attack of the Clones”, and I was kind of surprised to see Anakin kill all the Sand People, like they were turning him evil a little too early, so that had me wondering if he might turn to the dark side in that movie, which sort of distracted me from what was actually happening on the screen. With Episode III, you knew exactly what you were getting, because they couldn’t save any big moments for “Revenge of the Sith, Part 2.”    In a similar vein, I think the big thing audiences wanted from the sequel trilogy was to find out whatever happened to Luke, and Episode VIII answered that question completely.    It sort of undercut Episode IX, and I guess that was what J.J. Abrams was complaining about.
Darth Sidious’ whole comeback is kind of a problem.   I love the character, and it makes sense that he could somehow survive and come back.    In the movie, he just quotes his line about “unnatural” abilities and that’s the only explanation we get for how he survived Endor, built his new fleet, and made Snoke.    People call it a cop out and they’re not wrong, but he’s the one character who can get away with it.    That said, his return raises far more questions than answers, and somehow he’s even stronger than he was before, which raises even further questions.    I mean, if he could just go to this secret planet and build a fleet of planet-destroying ships, why did he bother running for public office?
I’m sure there’ll be a novel that tries to tackle some of those issues, but the bigger problem here is that Episode IX made me realize that I missed the more vulnerable Darth Sidious from the prequels.     What I love about Episode I is how you’ve got the Sith, looking very similar to the Emperor and Vader in Episode VI, except they don’t have the might of the Empire behind them.    In Episode I, Sidious can’t just force choke his subordinates when they displease him, because he needs those guys.  Darth Maul can’t send a legion of troops to capture Queen Amidala; he has to do it by himself.  They have to be sneakier and trickier than they are in the original trilogy, because they’re still trying to get the Empire set up, and that’s really fascinating to me.   Even in the original trilogy, Palpatine is supreme, but still vulnerable.    He dissolves the Senate, but only once the Death Star is available as an alternative.   He worries that Luke Skywalker “could destroy us.”
In Episode IX, he seems to have no worries at all, I guess because he’s counting on Rey to murder him for whatever essence transfer he was planning.   I suppose this was why he finally died to his own Force Lightning, with Rey deflecting it with two lightsabers.    Critics ask why he didn’t just stop shooting lightning, but that’s kind of his deal.    He kept shooting at Mace Windu, even when it wrecked his face, and he kept shooting when Darth Vader turned on him.   I mean, if he stopped shooting lighting at Rey, what then?    His fleet would lose the battle, and Rey would refuse to kill him, and he’d just be stuck.    The Sith crave power, and power only matters when you exercise it, so it makes sense that all the Sith characters get wrecked because they bit off more than they could chew.   If you asked Sidious why he didn’t just turn off his lightning, he probably wouldn’t even understand the question.
I think it might have been cooler if Darth Sidious had been a ghost, or maybe an electronic backup of his brain, or something like that.   He looked pretty cool hooked up to that life support system, and I liked the idea that he was reduced to a shell of his former self, but even that would still be a grave threat to the heroes, especially if he got Rey or Kylo Ren to take orders from him.    Maybe he should have actually gotten to possess Rey, and then he would finally get all the gonzo powers he displayed in the movie, and Rey would have to kick him out of her body.   I dunno, maybe that’s not so different from what we actually got.
I see fans talking about all these alternative versions of Episode IX, like that leaked script, or the concept art, etc.    They lament “Why didn’t we get this movie?” and I think that misses the point.    Maybe one version or another would be better, but in the end you really only get one movie, one shot at telling the story.   At some point, someone has to make the decision as to what makes the cut and what doesn’t.   The problem with writing a story is that the version in your head always looks better than it does in print, because in your head it’s this nebulous, ever-changing thing.    When you sit down to write it, you have to commit to one version, and decide whether to do this or that.   In this day and age, it’s a lot easier to find out about alternate versions and unused drafts.     You can watch the “This” version of a movie, and then go on the internet and see details about the “That” version they didn’t use.    And it’s easy to complain that they made the wrong call.    “Justice League” fans are convinced that there’s a secret “Snyder Cut” of the movie that would somehow be better than the version that actually made it to theaters.   That’s kind of sad, because they clearly must have enjoyed the theatrical cut to some extent, or they wouldn’t care about some other version of the same movie.   But instead of appreciating what they got, they obsess over a supposedly better version that may not even exist.
I’m probably no better, because I sort of went into Episode IX figuring that it didn’t matter if it was good or bad, because there would be comics or novels that might expand on the stuff I wanted to see.     I think what I really want is a story of how Sidious survived Endor, and how he got set up on Exegul or however you spell it.     That, and Rey buckling some swashes with that yellow lightsaber.   Everyone’s mad about Rose Tico getting a small part in Episode IX, but to me it almost doesn’t matter, because she can be in whatever Rey comic series they make after this.   I mean, that doesn’t do Kelly Marie Tran any good, but I think she’s got a good career ahead of her, with or without Rose Tico.
I don’t know, maybe this is why I don’t watch movies very much.   I’m mostly into franchises, where the movies themselves are just tentpoles for all the other media.   They don’t really need to be good, so long as some good lore comes out of them that someone else can use.    I was thinking the other day about how Episode II is widely considered one of the weakest Star Wars movies, but every Clone Wars story that came after it was directly inspired by that film.   And there’s a lot of good Clone Wars stuff out there.   It just makes me wonder if Episode II can really be as bad as they say it is.   Then again, it probably doesn’t make sense to say that spinoffs can retroactively fix what should be a standalone work.
Anyway, I started this post because I wanted to talk about how YouTube keeps recommending me Star Wars meta videos, mainly about the Sith, because that’s what I’m into, and they’re usually covering stuff I already knew.   There’s at least three channels devoted to recapping stories from comics and books, or just straight up repeating information that was directly stated in the movies.    “Did you know Palpatine wanted to KILL Darth Vader?”   Yes, I’ve known since 1983.   He told Luke to kill him and he wouldn’t do it.  Then he and Vader killed each other.   It’s not complicated.   The funny thing is that I watch all these different Star Wars videos, and I can tell they’re narrated by different people, but they all sound like the Burger King Foot Lettuce guy.
I got bored with these, so I started listening to the Dooku audiobook that came out last year.     It’s been pretty decent, but I was hoping for more Sith lore, and this book seems mostly focused on Asajj Ventress learning about Dooku’s Jedi career.   I’ve only got a half hour left in the book, and Dooku hasn’t even resigned from the order yet, so I don’t think I’ll see much of what he was up to between Episodes I and II.

Nightbeast
Nightbeast is connected to MST3K in a rather roundabout fashion.  It was made by Baltimore-born director Don Dohler, who also brought us The Galaxy Invader, that movie we saw clips of over the credits of Pod People.  Like Legend of the Dinosaurs it steals plot points from Jaws and then never uses them, but the main reason it makes me think of MST3K is because it has a similar feel to Teenage Strangler, in that we seem to be watching something created by a small town who thought making a movie would be great fun.  Also, I get to embarrass somebody famous again!  Remember when I told you guys that the English script of The Magic Voyage of Sinbad was by Francis Ford Coppola? The soundtrack of Nightbeast was put together by J. J. Abrams.  We all gotta start somewhere.
A little spaceship is touring the solar system when it gets hit by a meteor and crashes on Earth.  The pilot escapes moments before its ship explodes, taking a nearby house with it.  While local law enforcement mobilizes to investigate the fireball, a group of curious campers simply cannot wait, and are fabulously disintegrated.  The next few victims are bloodily disemboweled instead, I guess while the alien waits for its ray gun to recharge, and then the cops show up, leading to an over-long firefight in which only Sheriff Jack Cinder, Deputy Lisa Kent, and one other dude in plaid survive.  It’s up to them to save the town from the extraterrestrial menace!
Tumblr media
That’s it, really.  The alien wanders around killing people, Cinder and Kent have some very un-sexy sex, and the lines “be careful!” and “what the hell was that!?” are repeated over and over.  That’s the whole movie.
Nightbeast is terrible on every imaginable level, and because of it, often funny as hell. Its monster is a guy in a silly and immobile alien mask, and despite the title most of the action takes place in broad daylight, giving us a very good look at it.  No motivation is ever suggested for the creature, but based on its silver lame leisure suit and the fact that its ray gun makes people vanish in a variety of effects that look like they were rejected by Xanadu, I like to assume it came to Earth looking for Disco and was pissed to learn it had arrived too late.  The actors are bad, action scenes are confusing and go on way too long, Dohler is fond of inappropriate close-ups, there are random titties just for the sake of having titties in the movie, and the music is… let’s just say there’s a reason J. J. Abrams became famous as a director instead of a composer. There’s a bit where I’m absolutely sure they just stole the Tedddddd… NELSON! theme from The Incredible Melting Man.
Tumblr media
In the midst of all this, however, there are a couple of isolated but shining moments of competence.  A sequence in which characters run to take cover behind a stone wall is actually surprisingly tense. The scene of local thug Drago murdering his girlfriend is truly upsetting, as much because of what the movie doesn’t show us as what it does.  The opening ‘space’ sequence is pretty good for the era and budget in which it was created, and there are some gore effects that aren’t bad, either.  You can definitely tell where the production spent its money, and being buried in shit makes these little diamonds sparkle all the brighter.
They still cannot save the movie from its biggest problem, however – which is that there is no plot whatsoever.  Rather than having anything that could be described as a story arc, Nightbeast is just a sequence of events that go nowhere.
Take, for example, a plot point involving Mayor Bert, who’s throwing a party for the Governor and refuses to cancel it despite the murderous alien on the loose.  Oh, boy, this is gonna go badly, isn’t it?  The alien is gonna show up at the party and disintegrate some asses!  No, actually, Plaid Man breaks up the party by announcing that poison gas is seeping out of the mines and everybody needs to leave, which does effectively clear out the town but is definitely not the space monster massacre we were waiting for.  The mayor and his secretary get their extraterrestrial comeuppance later, in a less public and very much less satisfying fashion.
How about the local hunter Cinder calls in to try to disarm the alien?  His son is disintegrated in front of his eyes, prompting him to shoot the ray gun right out of the creature’s hand and then sit down and weep!  Surely this will spur him on to be instrumental in destroying the alien later on.  Surely he’ll be grieving and out for revenge.  Nope, we never see him again.
The nearest things to proper arcs going on in all this are the love story between Cinder and Kent and the grudge between Plaid Man and Drago over how the latter treats his girlfriend Suzie.  These are fairly complete little stories such as they are, I guess, but neither of them has anything to do with the overall plot about the alien killing people.  We get the impression that both sets of events probably would have happened eventually anyway.
A lot of the stuff that’s in the movie, I think is there because somebody on the crew had it lying around and figured they might as well use it.  The ‘party’ sequence happens because they knew a guy with a swimming pool.  They had a ‘severed arm’ prop so they have a bit in which the alien slaps a guy in the shoulder and his arm falls off (watch the movie – there is definitely no tearing happening in that scene).  Somebody knew how to ride a motorcycle so we have both Drago the unconvincing biker and the scene in which Plaid Man (I think his name was Jamie?) rides a bike to the aid of local coroner Ruth, whose house is under siege by the alien.
Tumblr media
The overall effect is that the movie feels weirdly incomplete.  The viewer is left with the impression that it was made by people who wanted to make A Movie, and who knew all the parts that movies are supposed to have – a monster, victims, a love story, human villains who get what’s coming to them, etc – and yet were unable to put those parts together into a recognizable whole. The ‘story’ is just a list of vaguely related things that happen, without any sense of direction or a reason why they’re happening in this order and to these people.
This is not the effect the film-makers were going for, because the climax of the movie really does try to bring everything together.  We’re told that the reason the monster hung around the coroner’s house was because it was eating the corpses (this also explains why even before it lost its ray gun, it sometimes just tore people apart instead of disintegrating them), and that a scene in which her assistant escapes using electricity was setting up the alien’s weakness.  The problem here is that these scenes, which were giving us important information, were interspersed with so many that were not important, we saw no reason to pay attention.
There’s not much in the movie that really qualifies as interesting but one thing I did manage to tease out is the types of violence it shows and who are the recipients of that violence. The alien kills men, women, and children indiscriminately, but its most graphic attacks are reserved for the men – there’s the guy on the porch who has his intestines ripped out, the dude in the basement who has his head squeezed off like a grape, and even the man whose arm is lightly slapped off his body.  When the alien kills women, we don’t get to watch – the first female victim we only see blood run down her legs, and although we get the aftermath of the attack on the mayor’s secretary, while it’s going on we only hear the screams.
Tumblr media
When women are the subject of overt violence in Nightbeast, their attackers are human.  This is true of the murdered Suzie – while we only see Drago’s face as she is strangled, we do get to watch her be beaten beforehand.  Later, Drago attacks Deputy Kent (I think this is supposed to be revenge for Plaid Man beating Drago up) and we see her both beaten and strangled in some detail, although she survives.  I’ve tried to figure out what this might mean… why do we watch men brutalize women, but not the monster?  The only thing I can come up with is that perhaps it’s to emphasize the difference in the motivation behind the attacks.  The alien kills humans without caring about gender, whereas the men beat women because they are women.  Is this a comment on our own violent proclivities, whereas the alien is killing for food?  I doubt Dohler thought about it that hard.  The rest of the movie is too much of a mess.
Nightbeast is far longer than it should have been and would have been easy to cut down. The shootout sequences would have been way more interesting at half their length, and all of the sunburned 70s titties could go without losing anything of note.  As long as you hang on to your remote to fast forward through the slow bits, then there's lots to enjoy in the amusingly funky alien, the repeated lines and the poor deliveries.  An MST3K version, with the unnecessary bits cut out and commentary from the Satellite of Love, would have been brilliant.
