is there any lore you can share about your little toy ocs? theyre so cute

theyre a part of a little personal project ive wanted to make!! Ive been toying with (ahaha) the idea of making a video game :—] nothing big, just something simple but more than i usually do when it comes to my art. Something that gives me an end product to work for, a creative process to work through. its just a little story about Romeo (pink clown fella) learning how to exist around other people again.

Its still a long ways and a new adhd med prescription away from any proper progress. But, i think ive finally condensed down something id want to create. It’s very tailored to me, brightly colored, toy-like character designs, character focused and introspective and shit. After a long time watching myself trip and fall as i fail to commit to things or lose interest in them very quickly, this project is half an art thing and half a psychological thing as i try to see what makes my brain tick and what it takes to give me something I can really chew on.

thats all mostly creative rambling though . In truth these guys dont have Much going for them yet. Im not a huge oc guy and also my brain is weird so it takes time for me to settle on stories for characters. But! I can give you a little fun detail and that is the toys theyre based on :—]

this is front-facing-pokemon, a tumblr blog (currently) designed to post every pokémon in national pokédex order from the least flattering angle possible!

why is it called front-facing-pokemon if not all the pokémon are front-facing?

because they used to be! we managed to get through the entire national pokédex facing directly at the camera, and as a result of a poll, i switched to this theme in order to keep the blog going and still post funny pokémon pictures!

search for its name on this blog! every pokémon is tagged with their name. since we got through the entire national dex for front-facing 'mons, i can guarantee you we've done your fave at least once!

if it's not april fools day, then no! april fools is the only day i take requests, so if you see a post from me that looks like i took a request, check the date! however if you live in the eastern hemisphere they may show up as being april 2nd

when will you do (x pokémon)?

whenever we reach it in the national pokédex! find the national pokédex number of your chosen pokémon, subtract it from the national pokédex of the most recent pokémon you see, and divide that number by two, for two posts a day (minus mega evolutions and alternate forms), and you'll have roughly the amount of time you'll have to wait until your favorite pokémon arrives (again! because we've already done the whole natdex once)

how do you decide which angle is the least flattering?

you can vote on them in the front-facing-pokemon discord server! that's where we decide on angles for new posts (and technically this gives you sneak peeks of the upcoming posts like a week in advance!)

silly names we gave some of the angles in the first discord call to establish the beginning of the queue to give names to recurring angles that tend to be funny on pokémon. and angles you'll likely see repeated!

You said something in an earlier post about all the boys having a partner pokemon in TMNP. We've seen Leo's unicorn, and Mikey's bug baby, but what about the other two? (I have a bet with someone that it's a Porygon, 1. Because if you squint *really* hard it - At least Porygon Z - kinda looks like Shelldon and 2. Because it fits him so perfectly)

You would be correct! Fun fact about Porygon, it is man-made. In the 90s, scientists at Silph Co. first created this pokemon using computer code. It's way too perfect to NOT give Donnie.

Donnie doesn't catch a Porygon tho. Where would he get one and why would he? Instead, he makes his own. He creates his pokemon partner. He creates S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. For winning your bet, have some concept art of Shelldon.

I'm still working out the final design, but the idea is since Donnie created him, I think he'd totally program him to look more him. So purple Porygon that looks more turtle instead of duck. Think of it like a different form.

I will say that initially I wanted to give them just one pokemon each, but like splinter's no pokemon rule I just....caved and now they each have 5-6. Prince is actually technically not Leo's pokemon, he's just a pokemon that shares a bond with Leo. I don't even think he'd live in the lair, he is a neat and cleanliness freak. He'd prob make his home in central park. The pokeball situation is...interesting since they aren't legally trainers.

So raph and Leo's pokemon. Well you guessed Donnie's, maybe someone can figure out these two.

I'll give a hint. Both their partner pokemon are related to one of if not their biggest interests. Leo's pokemon is from Gen 9 (Paldea) while Raph's is from Gen 7 (Alola).
