so officers can unload 3 full mags into a black woman's house over an alleged robbery sighting (it was her own home), shoot her 5 times (remember breonna taylor? we're not safe even at home) and the only consequence they face is administrative leave (they shot at her in her goddamn home over speculation.)

Oh my, is that really what I think it is...?
Tumblr media
It is!! Another little creature has arrived! And it's so fluffy too! Though that isn't gonna do much in this hot weather!
Tumblr media
Here, have some food, little guy. And come inside! I'm sure the others would love to have you!
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
That's right guys, Rain Wool is back in business!! Now that I'm getting back into the swing of needle-felting and FINALLY have lots more core wool to make all sorts of projects with, it's only right that I keep on going with this project, especially since, after Saint, I'm only one away from being done with the slugcats! I apologize for waiting so long to continue on with this project, but going forward I hope to start felting more of these guys more frequently.
In the meantime, however, I'm happy to finally share this fluffy little green bean!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It probably isn't very visible in these images, but on the cheeks, arms, and tail I intentionally left the wool less felted in for a softer, fluffier appearance. Since I have barely any of the straight wool roving felters normally use for long hair, this is my general go-to method for fluffy creatures.
I still think he looks adorable though, and I'm so excited to be close to finishing the slugcats!
Tumblr media
Well, I hope you enjoy this new Rain Wool content! Hopefully there will be more to come soon!

okay and another thing (maybe the last. let's hope. I don't want to be the old person yells at clouds meme forever!)
can we (and, God willing, Tony Gilroy) stop excusing every strange narrative choice, every lack of payoff and every characterisation inconsistency with "well, they were going to do five seasons but then they only got two"?
Because it's not like they had everything laid out and the scripts all finished and the cast all under contract and then someone called Gilroy the night before shooting started and said "lol btw you have to do it all in one season good luck". This was also Gilroy's decision, and they knew this for some time.
I'm sure Gilroy and company wrote a script for that five-season version of the show they were proud of, and I'm sure it was disappointing to have to cut it down. I write too, I get that feeling. But here's the thing: Your job as a professional writer is to tell the best possible story within the parameters you are given. If you're a novelist and your publishing house will only let your book have 500 pages, and you turn in a book with no ending and say "well, I ran out of space", then you didn't write a good book. If you're a journalist and half of your article is missing because you ignored the space limit and now everyone only has half the information, that is a bad article. If you're a student and you have an idea for a term paper that spans 50+ pages and the page limit is 20, and instead of picking a different topic you cut your first draft down to fit even though you lose half your argument and most of the relevant analysis in the process, you've written a bad paper. And regardless of how great that writer, journalist or student think their text could have turned out to be, the bottom line in the real world is that the public has a book that is bad, and an article that isn't telling the whole story, and that student is getting a bad grade for handing in an incoherent, surface-level paper.
When you realise the parameters of your task have changed, it is your job to adapt to that new framework. And if you look at the story you have and think, well, this thing needs way more seasons to tell than I am given by the studio... then it is your job to put that draft into a cupboard and get to work on a story that can be told in a single season. Even if that story is completely different from the one you were going to tell! Kill your darlings, gentlemen! I'm sure they loved what they had written, but as professionals, it is their job to recognise this story no longer works, and let it go. They didn't do that. They chopped bits off until the foot somehow fit into the glass slipper, because they were too concerned with their own attachment to the work they had already created, and not concerned enough with the question of whether they were giving their audience the best story they could tell in the framework they were actually given.
And that is called doing a bad job.
So I'm sorry, but every time someone counters a critique of the narrative flow or the character consistency or the treatment of every female and/or poc character with "well, they didn't have enough time to tell their story!", all I am hearing is "well, consider that this show was written by people who were being bad at their job!"

learned some fanon about shauna's mom that's been marinating in my brain since yesterday and i just idk guys, i just can't get behind it. that girl does NOT have an absent but well meaning mother who is beloved by the team to me
in my mind that woman is without a doubt shauna's first bully and there's no way s3 shauna isn't just an unmasked extension of her mother on a fucked family tree, like you can't tell me she didn't learn how to manipulate and tear down/intimidate people from her imo, not to mention hiding it until yknow. *gestures vaguely at the wilderness*
idk if i'm just projecting based on the absolute terrors my mom and most of the moms of my peers could be (was also raised in the 90s), but shauna's demeanor in the pilot reads to me like someone who's made herself small and while some can be attributed to jackie, idk there's some parental fuckery going on to me
while i wish all the best to fanon deb who seems delightful, the mrs. shipman i know is someone i'd fistfight in a 24hrs denny's parking lot

In the main verse has Rhaegar dealt with the fact that in their original time line Jon knows he's future and it's not good or happy?
Well, Jon hasn't told Rhaegar anything about their relationship or his fate. Depending on what Rhaegar believes, he might have guessed that his generation or the one after was part of the one that was embroiled in the civil unrest Jon mentioned to him back in chapter 5 (? I think). So there's nothing to deal with yet.
Rhaegar is operating in this weird space where he doesn't know where he falls into Jon's timeline. If they were closely related, he assumes Jon would have told him, so the fact that he hasn't leads him to believe they're not. Either they're from alternate histories, a bit like the one they're living in, or maybe there's another Maester Aemon serving the Night's Watch in the future and Jon's a more distant descendent.
So there's nothing to deal with yet!

Bergens are cursed pop trolls
Okay! Before i even get into this I just wanted to clarify that this is specifically a headcanon I somehow wove into existence and is in no way canon to the trolls universe whatsoever!
------
So to summarize what this is, i basically have made a headcanon/ AU about the bergens being the descendants of cursed pop trolls. Cause like⎯⎯
Look at the weird similarities at the designs of the trolls to the bergans (I'm using bridget and poppy specifically since i couldn't find any good pics online to get my point across)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like you can see the design of bergens and trolls being similar to each other. Obviously the face shapes are similarly different because of the size and color differences. And then I ended thinking 'But doesn't it look like that the bergens look like a more messed up version of the trolls?'
And this is where my headcanon happened in my head, cause like the lore between the pop trolls and bergens is straightforward as hell, bergen are miserable creatures and eating a pop troll makes them happy
but then the question of why were the bergens so miserable in the first place?
cause like there gotta be a root cause to that and given the ambiguous timeframe of the pop trolls being under the bergens rule and the VERY merky timeline of the past of music tribes with pop's attempted unification of all music
that got me making a storyline in the era where the old pop tribe when they tried to unify everyone, probably had some opposition within their tribe and given how the strings could be used to create the ultimate powerchord to create music zombies, why not write a backstory to this plot device?
So basically when pop was getting ready to you know unify everyone before they did that, the old king of pop then wanted to ensure total control over the music genres and decided to start making the theory of the ultimate powerchord. Problem was its was just that, a theory, untilll.... he realized he could 'test' out strings since pop was entrusted with it at the time on trolls who wouldn't be missed in their tribe and have been rumored on planning on leaving soon anyways because of their opposition to unifying everyone under one genre: pop.
And so the old pop king did and it worked at first...
But because the theory at that point was still incomplete and in its testing phase. All it ended up creating was genreless and unhappy troll zombies as it was incomplete and okay I'm playing off the idea that trolls NEED music to survive so in this headcanon/AU
so seeing this the old pop king ordered all the failed zombies experiments to be transported faraway from the trolls territory as soon as possible
this lead to the banished troll zombies who at this point is only surviving because of their unhappiness and constant search for something to make them happy replacing their need for music to well start to evolve into some more to fit their current needs now.
being banished to giant forests where the food wasn't at all what they were use too and now their voices not being able to make the sweet music it once did that made their survival before their transformation happy well... those groups of banished zombies were gonna change no matter how much time would pass
and such by the time the bergens find the trolls tree its been over a CENTURY since their ancestors came to change in such short periods of their lives
and well the rest follows up in what the first trolls movie lore gave us :P

This has been plaguing my mind for days now, but the Society for Arcane Science feels a lot like transmedicalism, or just flat-out transphobia, to me.
I notice a lot of similarities between my parents' forcing a "chosen name" and pronouns on me and claiming they're trans allies and protecting me, blah blah, and transmeds insisting there's only one way to truly be trans, is not all that different from the "respectable science, we take in scientists and help them with their work while keeping it respectable" the Society touts. In fact, using that lense, I understand why all of the lodgers got so attached to Frankenstein so quickly. They felt limited, and Frankenstein's very explicit derision of "respectable science" validated the lodgers' complaints.
In the end, like transmedicalism, does the Society actually make the average person look at mad science in a more positive light, or is it just dividing the scientists while also misguiding people who would support the science either way? I'd also love to see a Society that's just a way for scientists to get their work seen by more people, rather than having to fit some "respectable" standard.
