//Hello, I'm Ares's mod. This is the first time I've come across the idea of a protective Zeus and a non-toxic Zeus in RP. Could you tell us more about this?your oos word tags look very interesting//
[OOC]
In real life I'm a very logical person; I can't rp as someone who would hate on their kid for no reason(yes, i know why Zeus hated Ares in the myths). In the myths, Zeus had legitimate reason for punishing Ares not for hating him, but for punishing him. So I took that, along with the fact Zeus was a logical king and morals have changed drastically over the last couple millennia. And decided that the main reason Zeus was harsh on Ares was because Ares was a soldier and he couldn't have a soldier disobeying his king. Therefore, in modern times, Zeus is actually a decent(ish) person who isn't abusive.

im not really interested in engaging in moral discourse surrounding the relationship of zeus and ganymede bc 1. i like to leave things up to the viewer and 2. the inherent horror and tragedy of being the “most beautiful boy to exist” is more interesting to me since we’ve seen it play out horribly in real life. i take inspiration from björn adrésen, quotes from the young river phoenix, the lives of castrati and antinous more than anything lol.
i see ganymede being taken as something that mirrors the inevitable “death” that either occurs literally or metaphorically to beautiful young men. they either “die” by aging out of their perceived beauty or die in some tragic way that preserves their young grace in peoples minds. ganymede cannot die in the traditional sense as he is immortal, but him being taken is a “death” of sorts in that the memory of his beauty is frozen in time. the ganymede inside everyone’s heads will stay the same forever and can be deified both literally and figuratively.
so did zeus “kill” ganymede or save him? is there love in the “kill” and greed in his conservation? is there liberation in “death” when you are the most beautiful boy to exist? can you ever be liberated? is ganymede dead or alive?

Jupiter for Ganymede is what Earth was for Titan.
Both hugely admired the respective planet, wanting to be like them. Just to end up getting disappointed when the truth came out. Which triggered one of the major arcs. (Moon revolution). But in the end siding with the planet after seeing their side of the story. And both straight up fighted to defend the Earth and Jupiter (Which triggered culmination of Planet X arc)

Now I know Percy x any god is controversial but think of the hilarity
He really went and became the dad that stepped up.
Also a camper saying in the most horrified voice, 'Percy Jackson fucked my dad/mom' is fucking hilarious to me.

Taylor has become very square since I initially designed them so I had to update their skeleton form to accommodate.

The fact that I have art and writeups for my challenge done up to day 15 but just haven't posted anything past Orpheus is interesting because like - this always happens. I'll be going along with a project just fine and then I'll get sick and after getting over that period of sickness I'll lose the little confidence I'd scrounged up and let whatever I was previously working on fall into obscurity and incompleteness. I can't even really pinpoint why - posting just feels unappetising to me in the aftermath, like food gone sour or a party that's suddenly gotten overstimulating to the extreme.
For the first time though, I want to keep posting. I want to talk about my ideas and share my interests and just generally speak about what I'm doing and what I love so I'm going to try to work up my courage again and continue on. I'll try to worry less about adhering to a timeline too.

Heyya Lord Zeus!
*throws a muffin at him*
See ya!
*disappears in a cloud of glitter*
Ah ah ah~! I'll have to stop you right there!
Listen, I know you dislike him, but we must be respectful, yes? My little machine protects you, so it won't be you on the receiving end of his wrath. And I'd hate to see our cute little wine-bearer get hurt.

That is the second TikTok video that has shown up on my FYP that is someone giving a Webtoon artist a hard time for their story about Ganymede. I already made a post about this but I feel like I need to keep saying it. Because I genuinely think there is some level of something (homophobia) that makes people not bat an eye at the dozens upon dozens of Hades&Persephone retellings but lose their minds at a possible Ganymede&Zeus retelling.
And the really frustrating thing about all of this? I'm pretty sure the artist has already said their story isn't going to be romanticising Ganymede's story and I've seen some of their related artwork backing this up. Yet these videos are full of people being passive aggressive and downright trying to bully the artist over it.
So frustrating!!!!

All the potential FLF AUs are rolling around in my head. We don't have all the classic ones, and now I feel like it is my duty to write them.

Pali's got the same scarf Eura, Iowa, and Ganymede, right? Even if he only uses it for cosmetic purposes, can't he still use it to teleport? (ngl got me thinking back to that one post about the "family business")
(oh also, really love that you're trying new things! the story has been going great so far! can't wait to see if some of my speculations hold any weight hee hee 。^‿^。 )

GISGKDKVDKVDIGDKGDGKDKGDKG listen i saw it and i had to
Regarding ur question, it IS the same scarf that his siblings all have, but he can only use it to take him to and from home. Nowhere else. It's basically a mystical magical version of a house key!

Unpopular HelPol opinions
Disclaimer: my wording is blunt and harsh in this, if that's something that makes you uncomfortable, proceed with caution!!
I could give less of a shit about people referring to gods as "Lord" and "lady". Yeah it isn't traditional, but we live in 2025, a lot is different in terms of how people choose to show their respect. An extra layer of respect never hurt anybody, and with good intentions it's literally such a non issue
The offerings of OTHER PRACTICIONERS shouldn't matter at all to YOU. if it does, you're probably insecure. If you genuinely give a shit and try to police what other people offer, instead of just letting them accept consequences if they offer something the gods don't like, you're a weirdo. The exception to this is if someone is going to offer something like blood, and you warn them. That's in good faith. Telling people that their offerings are WRONG will only push them farther away. Let people make mistakes and learn.
While Apollo and Hyacinthus technically do have the same type of relationship as Zeus and Ganymede, it's perfectly okay if people have a hard time separating Zeus and Ganymede from a less savory version of the myth. It's the same thing that happened to Persephone, so I see no reason why we can't view it the same with Zeus and Ganymede, with respect and reverence, but an inherent vibe of tragedy. That isn't for everyone, and everyone has a different view of the gods, but some people relate to Ganymede because they've been victimized, and that's perfectly okay.
Priesthood, godspousal, etc, is not anyone's business but the practicioner. So many of you are really weird, why do you care?
I believe Zagreus is an epithet of Dionysus, and I believe Melionë is an epithet of Hekate. It's very valid to view both as separate, I just personally do not!!
I will always use the English names for the gods on social media. It's much more screen reader friendly, where as using the Greek names makes it much less accessible to a disabled audience as the reader trips over it. The only benefit is that it makes you sound more well read and slightly more respectful. You can do what you want, but I'll use the more common versions of the names so that they can be easily recognized by anyone using a screen reader.
While Apollo was never ORIGINALLY considered a god of the sun, years and years of him being associated with the sun is culturally significant enough that ignoring it isn't accuracy, it's ignorance. You don't have to include every aspect of every god in your practice, especially one you don't vibe with, but other people can absolutely view the gods however they please. Disagreement about this didn't be something that genuinely divides people, it's immature.
I don't think there's anything wrong with worshipping the primordials. I've seen people claim that for one, you only worship the gods to get something out of it, and that there's nothing to get out of the primordials. For one, I think that's ridiculous and offensive to think that people only worship the gods to get something out of it. For another, I think building a relationship with the primordials is actually incredibly important!! Forces like sleep, the night, the sun, death, they all have impact on our lives in big ways.
If you have an Olympian that you don't want to interact with for whatever reason, but you interact with the rest of the pantheon (that part is important) maybe it's just not the right religion for you. If there's a god that's so important as to be an Olympian and you refuse to include them in your practice, it's uneducated and disrespectful.
The gods DO care about you. Kharis is still very important, but I've been seeing growing sentiment that the gods don't care about their worshippers, even with kharis. Why are you even following a religion if you think your gods don't care about you?
Just because a god had no cult practices in antiquity (that we know of) doesn't mean that you can't still worship them and build a relationship with them.
The people on this app who are the most vocally anti priesthood are friends with priests. If you can only justify your beliefs when it's people you like, maybe what you actually have is a bias.
UPG is not as important as knowing the fundamentals of the religion, but I genuinely believe that if you have no UPGs at all, you have no relationship with the gods.

Honestly, nothing makes me frustrated with the "historians will say they were friends" thing quite like running across reasonably clear suggestions of queerness in my own work and realizing that they simply aren't that relevant to what I'm arguing about this particular figure.
My internal monologue: "I'm not the first person who's suggested this man was queer. He has a few very intimate male friendships. He was overly familiar in a mutual way with his subordinate officer who became his adjutant. He had a statue of Ganymede at his home. But none of this is relevant because I'm talking about diplomacy and politics and as far as I can tell, these relationships were discreet enough to have no bearing on that. So I'll call it friendship to not go off into the weeds."
I'm not hiding things. I just am not writing a biography and don't have a way to weave this in.
