He can smell what genre he’s in and does Not like it and would be out of there if he could, do not paint him as a one brain cell oblivious baby man

Dracula: Plaguing locals, running over old church ladies with his car because he wants to see how fast it goes. Captures the pointless mean-spirited violence with humorous anachronisms. 8/10.

Frankenstein: Made a business out of resurrecting people, has an Igor, SHACKING UP WITH DRACULA?? Opposite in every way (except for being gay I guess), 0/10

Griffin Invisibleman: Shows up just to beat a player character’s brother to death, keeps getting stabbed, yells FUCK and runs into the forest only to run back all “I changed my mind!!” to resume beating him up. Highest level of accuracy, only thing missing is the sneezes, 100/10

Highly recommend the 1872 novella Carmilla to all the wlw iwtv fans out there, it's about a gothic lesbian vampire-human romance and it lowkey changed my life. Like I cannot explain to you how shockingly gay and poetic this story that came out two decades before Dracula is. I'm a little devastated it took me this long to read it tbh

(And if you're looking for a good retelling that embraces the gay further I recommend Carmilla and Laura by S.D. Simper. It's not as poetic but it focuses on internalized homophobia, religion and has a happier ending)

Another thing that’s super cool about Dracula Daily is that along with how those long stretches of time where we didn’t hear anything served to drive home the length of jonathan’s stay at Castle Dracula, reading these Incredibly Long Emails just serves to drive home how MUCH is happening within the span of a few days. Like, in the last four days we’ve gotten WAY more content than we got for like, the entirety of the summer

Reading the book as a Book, this pacing would have felt pretty normal, but reading it one day at a time shows just how batshit crazy these people’s lives have gotten so quickly. One week ago Arthur literally did not know that vampires EXISTED and today he’s out there actively hunting one to save his new best friend Mina

love that Quincey Morris' speech is continually described as 'laconic' when in fact he's just said a normal sentence, but because no one else can say anything without invoking three separate metaphors and an entreaty to a higher power, they're all like, 'wow, this guy is so silent and stoic'
